Do You Know the Difference Between Projecting Your Voice and Shouting?

When you need to speak with more volume, do you know if you are yelling or are you projecting your voice? If you are like most people, you probably yell or shout to be heard. The problem with increasing your volume in this manner is that it is hard on your throat and vocal cords. And, it can also be hard on your listeners’ ears.

The tremendous strain placed on your throat and vocal cords by shouting or yelling hurts your voice. This is why you may notice that your throat gets sore, your voice may become raspy or hoarse, and you may even experience voice loss. All 3 symptoms are called vocal abuse.

Those situations in which you may be using more volume over a prolonged period of time include:

1. rooting for your favorite sports team;

2. training;

3. coaching;

4. public speaking;

5. ministering;

6. acting;

7. campaigning;

8. conversing in a noisy club;

9. working in loud environments; and,

10. yelling at your kids throughout the day.

There is a better way to increase your volume which immediately decreases the strain on those delicate organs. It is called projection and is only possible if you use your chest cavity as your primary amplifier. Think of the size of your chest cavity. Now consider the size of your other 4 vocal resonators: your voice box, throat, mouth and nasal cavities. Those 4 areas combined have nowhere near the size or capacity as that of your chest cavity.

Another benefit of projection is that it will not hurt your listeners’ ears. Shouting or yelling is strident and harsh: it is loud. Projection, on the other hand, involves increased volume but it is not shrill or loud because the vibrations produced in the chest are deeper in pitch and warmer in quality; the vibrations in the other 4 resonators are higher-pitched and can be very shrill.

I worked with retired NHL player Ulf Samuelsson who told me that he wished he had known how to project his voice when he was playing hockey because of the noise level on the ice. At the time I was working with him, he was coaching his son’s local hockey team. He told me that after a practice with the boys, he would have no voice. Once he learned how to project, however, he was able to coach those hour sessions and still have voice by the end of the evening.

Change the way you place your sound and you will notice a surprising difference. You will sound better; you will no longer experience hoarseness or a sore throat; and, you will have more voice and energy by the end of the day.

Diabetes Can Lead To A Variety Of Skin Problems

Although many conditions can give rise to skin problems, there are several skin complaints that are either seen most often, or only, in cases of diabetes. These include:

Diabetic dermopathy. Diabetes frequently results in changes to the minor blood vessels which, when these are close to the surface of the skin, can result in light brown, circular or oval, scaly patches. These patches, which are most often seen on the front of the legs, are quite harmless and do not need to be treated. In most cases they are mistaken for age spots.

NLD. NLD (necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum) which, like diabetic dermopathy results from changes to the minor blood vessels, produces similar spots but, in this case, they tend to be both larger in size and fewer in number. These spots frequently appear as a dull red, raised area of skin which turns into a shiny scar with a violet colored border. Occasionally spots can become itchy and even painful and can also break open, at which point treatment is required. This condition is uncommon and is most often seen in older women.

Diabetic blisters. In rare cases diabetes sufferers can suddenly encounter an eruption of blister, normally on the feet, toes, hands or the back of the fingers. On rare occasions eruptions will also be seen on the forearms and legs. Diabetic blisters are sometimes quite large and look like burn blisters but are painless and often disappear within two or three weeks. There is no treatment for these blisters, other than to reduce blood sugar levels.

Digital sclerosis. Digital sclerosis is the thickening and tightening of the skin on the back of the hands and can sometimes also be seen on the forehead and toes. The skin will also have a wax-like appearance and the joints of the finger become stiff. In rare cases stiffness may also be experiences in the ankles, knees and elbows. Once again the only treatment is to lower blood sugar levels.

Acanthosis nigricans. Acanthosis nigricans is seen as pale brown raised areas of skin on the neck, armpits and groin and, occasionally, on the hands, elbows and knees. It is most often seen in people who are considerably overweight and the best treatment is to lose weight.

Disseminated granuloma annulare. This condition is seen as ring or arc-shaped raised areas of skin which are clearly defined, red, reddish-brown or skin colored and which appear on the extremities of the body such as the ears or fingers. This condition will require a visit to your doctor and is usually treated with drugs.

In most cases the skin condition which result from diabetes can be easily prevented and, when they do appear, can also be easily treated.

The Impact on Fitness of Exercising at Altitude

According to High Altitude Living, “[p]eople may feel effects from higher altitudes as low at 4000 ft above sea level. Usually by 6000 ft, they will experience more fatigue, and a greater potential for dehydration.” These effects occur because the air is thinner at higher altitudes, which creates an oxygen deficit that can inhibit regular physical activities-until one’s body adapts to the higher altitude.

Imagine, then, how much more difficult this oxygen-differential can be for those who exercise at altitude.

Exercising at Altitude

Even top athletes will initially find it difficult to exercise at higher altitudes. They will feel the lack of sufficient oxygen with each labored breath, say experts, because their oxygen needs have not changed even though the altitude has changed, and the air has become thinner.

But the body is an amazingly adaptive machine that, in time, becomes acclimated to exercising at altitude by producing some physiological changes.

Physiological Adaptations to Higher Altitudes

Because oxygen is thinner at higher altitudes, one must breathe faster in order to obtain the same amount of oxygen as experienced at sea level. This increased breathing rate is necessary to supply sufficient oxygen to the blood stream, which then sends it to the oxygen-dependent muscles. The heartbeat simultaneously increases in an effort to transport oxygen throughout the body, via the bloodstream.

Studies have shown that in just a few days, however, the lungs become extremely efficient at breathing this thinner air. Several studies, for instance, have shown that the volume of air that the lungs are able to accommodate eventually doubled in those exercising at altitude from 12,000 to 14,000 feet.

Other physiological adaptations that the body makes to higher altitudes include:

– A higher heart rate required to move the disease amount of oxygen throughout the body. Within a few days, however, the increased blood that is pumped through the heart decreases, as does the heart rate. In a very short time, both the blood volume pumped by the heart and the heart rate decrease to the levels of those that were present at sea level.

– An increased number of red blood cells, which enables greater oxygen transportation by the blood stream. (One study showed that as subjects became accustomed to the higher altitude of 13000 feet, their blood/oxygen levels increased by 19 percent while the blood volumes processed by the heart decreased by 9 percent.)

– Chemical enzyme changes. Of particular interest to an athlete is the performance of the muscles, performance that is significantly affected by chemical enzymes, which supply necessary energy to the muscles. As the body becomes accustomed to higher altitudes, these enzymes adapt to the lower oxygen rate, per experts, and perform much as they did at sea level.

What these physiological changes mean for those regularly exercising at altitude, according to New York Times sports reporter William Stockton, “is a steady improvement in [exercise] performance. (The) heart rate begins to decline [for the same amount of effort] and breathing becomes less difficult.”

Altitude Dangers

The athletic-enhancing benefits of exercising at altitude are so well known that many coaches recommend this type of training to their athletes. There are, however, certain dangers that can accompanyy such training.

One of the chief dangers is Acute Mountain Sickness, AMS (also called altitude sickness.) AMS is the body’s effort to acclimate to the reduced oxygen levels at higher altitudes. As previously mentioned, during the acclimatization process one’s breathing rate increases in an attempt to obtain additional oxygen. In some individuals, this process can lead to hyperventilation symptoms such as shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea, and headache. These symptoms can be extremely distressing and even debilitating.

Although most cases of AMS are minor, with a small percentage of those afflicted, a potentially life-threatening condition called high-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) may develop, which is caused by the leakage of fluids from the blood vessels into the lungs. The first symptom of HAPE is usually an extreme shortness of breath that occurs simultaneously with ascension to a higher altitude. Shortly thereafter, the heart rate and the breathing increase and a cough develops that sometimes contains bloody sputum. By the time that these symptoms appear, quick medical attention is necessary to prevent the sufferer from lapsing into a coma and dying.

Still another form of AMS, and one that is even more dangerous, is called high-altitude cerebral edema (HACE). Although the exact mechanism whereby this disorder develops is not completely understood, it usually begins with the classic symptoms of AMS and then progresses into neurological symptoms such as speech impairment, loss of coordination, alternated states of consciousness, and hallucinations which eventually lead to death if medical attention is not immediately administered. Although HACE is very rare, it is a high-altitude risk that cannot be ignored.

Tips for Exercising at Altitude

To minimize such potentially dangerous medical conditions, and to manage any unpleasant physical symptoms caused by ascending to higher altitudes, experts recommend these tips:

– Make the ascension slowly. If possible, allow your body a full day to acclimate to the altitude change of moving from 4,000 to 5,000 feet and a similar time period to acclimate to the change from 8,000 to 12,000 feet.

– Watch your training schedule. Make sure that you train slowly to allow your body time to adjust to the higher altitude.

– Stay hydrated. Higher altitudes can lead to a greater risk of dehydration if sufficient amounts of water are not consumed. Experts recommend that drinking a minimum of 8 ounces of water for every 20 minutes spent exercising at altitude.

– Listen to your body. If the intensity of your exercise program is causing your breathing to become excessively labored, reduce the intensity until your breathing eases. (Because of this acclimation process, you will likely have to adjust your exercise program many times until full acclimatization is achieved.)

Exercising at altitude is a productive training method that one should attempt only when fully apprised of and prepared for the attendant risks. If an athlete adequately prepares, and is cognizant of the potential deadlier risks, and thus adjusts his or her training schedule accordingly, the athletic benefits of exercising at altitude can be enjoyed without incurring the dangerous side effects.

Loss of Penis Sensation – Causes, Symptoms, Treatment – How to Restore Penis Sensitivity

Diminished penile sensitivity is not that uncommon and may be caused by a number of different circumstances including trauma, medication, sexual anhedonia and/or other contributing health factors.

Trauma– The penis is comprised of a network of veins and nerve endings, which, if damaged, may reduce an individual’s sensitivity. One of the many common sources of trauma that can affect penile sensitivity is frequent masturbation. Frequent masturbation, especially “dry” masturbation, can result in damage to penis cell neurons and a loss of sensitivity. Other trauma may include injury to the groin or penis that can result in decreased blood flow to the area.

Symptoms – Difficulty reaching orgasm even after extended periods of sexual activity. Failure to climax or ejaculate. Diminished pleasure.

Treatment – Depending on the nature of the trauma you may find that simply ceasing sexual activity for a period of time may help restore some or most of the sensation in the penis. Increasing blood flow to the area may also help increase sensation. Use of lubricants while engaging in sexual activity may help prevent loss of sensation in the future.

Medication– A variety of medications may inhibit an individual’s ability to achieve an erection and/or reach climax. Among medications that may affect penile sensation are medications used to treat depression, anxiety and/or heart disease.

Symptoms – Loss of sensation may be concurrent with use of new medication. Failure to reach climax, loss of sensitivity and diminished pleasure may be symptoms of this cause. Many medications may also affect an individual’s ability to have or maintain an erection.

Treatment – Consult with your physician regarding changing medication, side effects of current medication and/or alternative treatments.

Health Related – Other health problems may play a role in diminished penile sensitivity. Diabetes, heart disease, obesity and a number of other factors may result in diminished penile sensitivity.

Symptoms – If you are aware of another health problem that may be affecting your sexual performance you may experience a general loss of sensation in the penis; diminished sensitivity; and/or difficulty having or maintaining an erection.

Treatment – Consult your physician for alternative medications. Exercise and diet may play a role in your overall health and, ultimately, in penile sensitivity.

Sexual Anhedonia – Also sometimes referred to as Ejaculatory Anhedonia, Sexual Anhedonia is a condition of decreased penile sensation. Causes may include low libido, low testosterone levels, spinal cord injury, Multiple Sclerosis and or fatigue.

Symptoms – For many men suffering from sexual anhedonia, the symptoms may simply seem like part of regular life. Some men may develop anhedonia as a result of a physical illness or other medical diagnosis.

Symptoms – may include ability to ejaculate without accompanying pleasure.

Treatment – Some physicians may prescribe bupropion, which is used as an anti-depressant and a quit-smoking aid. A doctor or psychotherapist may prescribe additional treatment.

There is a penis health crème that helps many men suffering from penis skin and nerve issues. It contains penis specific vitamins and minerals to offset penis vein and nerve damage and penis connective tissue damage and can help restore overall penis health and sensitivity.

The Top Shingles Home Remedy

Shingles is a disease caused by the very same virus which causes chickenpox-varicella-zoster. The virus usually lies inactive in the nerve cells located near the brain and spinal cord. Upon suppression or weakening of the immune system, the virus re-emerges as shingles. Shingles is manifested by the development of painful rashes-fluid-filled blisters which eventually crusts. Shingles can cause extreme pain and usually takes weeks to heal. Fortunately, shingles home remedy is available, which can help alleviate the symptoms and shorten the recovery time.

One shingles home remedy is the application of cold packs. Cold packs can help relieve the pain and the burning sensation associated with the rashes. The packs should be wrapped in soft towels and should be applied to the affected skin for twenty minutes. Regular application of cold packs, with an interval of twenty minutes between each application, has been observed to diminish the pain caused by shingles.

Another shingles home remedy is lavender oil. Lavender does not only have an aromatic fragrance it also has properties which helps the skin to heal. Lavender oil contains soothing compounds. Not only will the shingles be less painful, lavender oil can also help one relax.

Tea tree oil is another shingles home remedy. Tea tree oil has been studied thoroughly and is found to have many beneficial effects on the skin. It is applied directly to the rashes to help soothe them and to help reduce the inflammation.

Witch hazel is an astringent which has been observed to relive uncomfortable sensations caused by shingles. It is an effective shingles home remedy as it helps in the rejuvenation of damaged skin cells. Witch hazel is also known to promote the normal levels of good bacteria in the body. Aside from these, witch hazel also has soothing effects.

Apple cider vinegar is another shingles home remedy. Apple cider vinegar is an acetic acid prepared from apple cider. Apple cider vinegar is observed to help relieve the itching and pain caused by shingles. To apply apple cider vinegar, it should be diluted with two parts water. The mixture should be applied to the affected parts, either with a washcloth or cotton balls. Apple cider vinegar also helps dry the blisters faster.

Aside from the above mentioned shingles home remedy, management of shingles should also include altering one’s diet. Individuals suffering form shingles should get more vitamin C and zinc. A high-lysine diet has also been found to help relieve shingles.

Of course, the #1 shingles home remedy would always be prevention. Shingles can be prevented by avoiding contact with people who have shingles or chickenpox. A healthy lifestyle is also necessary in order to avoid being immunocompromised.

Canker Sore Treatment – Difference Between Canker Sores (Mouth Ulcer) and Fever Blisters (Cold Sore)

There are a number of differences between canker sores and cold sores. If you find out more about the features, you will easily distinguish and find the right methods that will lead to quick treatment and recovery. You might even discover the preventive measures by knowing the causes and triggers. Here are some more tips on how to differentiate the two and what you can do to alleviate these conditions should you have them.

The Canker Sore

Described as an open and painful sore in the mouth, canker sores appear yellow or white and are usually surrounded by a bright red area which indicates inflammation. These are benign and not cancerous. Canker sores are a basic form of ulcer in the mouth. These usually appear in women more often compared to men. These can also appear at any age, although they are initially present between 10 to 40 years old. They will be found on the inner surface of the lips, soft palate, cheeks, tongue and the base of the gums. The sores can also occur in families.

These are usually related to conditions that are associated with the immune system or defense system of the body. The sores can also happen after you acquire mouth injury because of aggressive tooth cleaning, dental work or accidentally biting the cheek, tongue or lip. They are usually caused by emotional stress, menstrual periods, dietary problems from lack of vitamin B12, folic acid and iron, food allergies, hormonal changes and other similar problems. These can also appear during viral infections. The cause may not be identified all the time.

Canker Sore Symptoms

The initial symptoms are burning or tingling sensation that you get before other symptoms arise. You might discover a painful red bump or spot that will develop into an open ulcer. The center usually appears white or yellow, measuring less than 1 cm, although it can be bigger at times. You might get one or more bumps in the area. The sore might also turn gray before it starts to heal.

About Cold Sores

Fever blisters or cold sores are common skin problems that happen in 15% to 30% of the United States population. The sores are generally caused by the HSV or herpes simplex virus and are usually indicative of herpes simplex virus infection. Fever blisters are triggered frequently by the HSV-1 or the herpes simplex virus type 1 compared to HSV-2. Over 85% of the population worldwide have experienced having HSV-1 at one point. The first outbreak is usually very painful and will last longer compared to the following infections.

Symptoms of Cold Sores

The blisters usually appear red or purple and are filled with fluid. These appear at the corners of the mouth or around the lips. The blisters will rise then collapse within a few days. A yellow crust usually develops over the sores and will heal without scarring in 2 weeks. Other symptoms include sore throat, general body aches, fever, swollen lymph nodes and soreness in the lips and mouth. Canker sore treatment will then be different.

To conclude, cankers sores and fever blisters are largely a result of improper skin management and hygiene. Are you sick and tired of dealing with the pain caused by canker sores? To be able to know the difference between the two will also be a big help in taking preventive measures.

How to Cure Yellow and Unsightly Toenails in One Easy Treatment

There are many people in the world today suffering from a quite embarrassing ailment related to the feet in particular. When nails are infected probably the best thing to do would be to book an appointment for the Long Island Pinpointe laser toenail treatment. Long Island Pinpointe laser treatment is very easy and convenient and is available to many people.

The causes of nail infection are many. Mostly it is hot and humid conditions similar to those that are found in tropical countries, but this doesn’t always have to be the cause.

Most men wear man made fiber socks and covered shoes all day at work which can extend into the evening. This is an ideal breeding ground for the fungus. Even tennis shoes or trainers can hold in the body’s natural sweat and this makes a perfect condition for the foot fungus to invade the nail.

Many people will have yellowish nails that are thick and horny and look absolutely horrible. They will not be able to wear open toed shoes or go barefoot because of the shame of how the foot looks with these little monsters on the end of the toes.

Ladies, in particular, will not be able to wear nail polish or may feel too embarrassed to get a pedicure and it can affect their social life to some extent.

Even swimming is a problem with most people and many public or hotel swimming pools would frown upon anyone using the pool with infected nails.

What causes the discoloration and thickened look to the nails is a very common fungus that embeds itself under the nail. The consequences are, that once under the nail, the fungus is very hard to reach and most topical medications will not work.

Even if the medications work it is sometimes toxic to the body’s organs and can cause problems later in life. This kind of medication also takes some time to work and the sufferer has to put up with the discoloration over an extended period of time until it heals.

Perhaps the easiest method of curing nail fungus infections is the new light treatment that is now on offer. One half hour session is usually all that is needed to kill off the fungus once and for all. It is usually not painful, perhaps just a warm sensation, and there is no anesthetic to worry about.

The light is shone directly through the nail to the nail bed where the ‘root’ of the fungus is hiding. The light kills it off and the fungus is cleared completely. All the nails, even the uninfected ones, are dealt with since some fungal spores may be lurking there unseen.

To avoid future infections, people are advised to wear only natural fibers next to the skin and to make sure that the feet are perfectly dry after sports or showering. Foot powder, with anti fungal properties, are also a good idea particularly for those who frequent public use facilities such as health clubs or gymnasiums.

The Difference Between An Alcohol Flush Reaction (Asian Flush) and Alcohol Allergy

There is a very distinct difference between an alcohol flush reaction and alcohol allergy. Many people, because of misinformation spread around the internet or perhaps because of a lack of personal knowledge often confuse the two. Asian flush is not an allergic reaction, although the symptoms may seem similar. Very often, allergic reactions are associated with shortness of breath, rashes, hives, a rapid heart beat, and swelling, amongst other symptoms. To be honest, these are all symptoms of Asian flush. However, the reason for these reactions is very different, and therefore alcohol allergy and alcohol flush reaction should be treated differently.

An allergy is, in simple terms, a mistake made by our bodies. Substances normally harmless to us are incorrectly perceived as harmful, and our body reacts accordingly. Increased heart rate, swelling, itching, and all the symptoms associated with allergic reactions are due to histamines, substances released by the body to attack harmful intruders. However, these substances are not only falsely perceive these harmless substances, they are released in such great amounts that sometimes the person suffering from an allergic reaction can lose consciousness and die.

You’ve probably heard of antihistamines. These are typical treatment for less serious allergic reactions like sneezing, sore eyes, a runny nose, or rashes. More serious reactions resulting in anaphylaxis or anaphylactic shock which can be treated with an “EpiPen” containing epinephrine or adrenaline. The adrenaline works to tighten blood vessels, raising blood pressure from dangerously low levels, and increases blood flow to vital organs like the brain and heart. It also relaxes airways making breathing easier and makes the heart beat stronger and faster.

Asian Flush is something completely different. It is an inability to metabolize alcohol correctly. Because of a ALDH2 enzyme deficiency, sufferers of Asian flush are not able to break down the byproduct of alcohol metabolism called acetaldehyde. The byproduct is toxic and if left to build up in the body can cause the red face, swelling, hives, nausea, and dizziness associated with Asian flush. Common cures for Asian flush include certain OTC drugs like antacids and certain antihistamines containing H2 blockers.

These can slow down the metabolism of alcohol and thus the production of acetaldehyde. Because of the lack of research in to the condition, there is no one hundred percent cure, but certain products on the market claim to provide a cure with patented tonics or pills. One product known as the No Red Face Formula states that they can teach you to cure your Asian flush with techniques they provide in an e-book. Their offer is backed up by a money back guarantee and 10,000 satisfied customers.

So, now that you understand that these two conditions, although may share similar symptoms, are actually the caused by two very different deficiencies in our body. If you are experiencing alcohol flush reaction and jab yourself with an EpiPen the results would be disastrous. Likewise, if you were to take antacids to cure your alcohol allergy, you would probably see little effect. Consult a doctor or do the proper research to find the correct solution.

— Overeating nuts and seeds (soaking Raw nuts overnight in water will help but they are not as tasty)

— Drugs or Medications

— Improper diet

— Not going when you feel the urge and “holding it in” because you are not close to a bathroom or think you are too busy.

Over the years we have discovered that the same foods that relieve constipation, are also the same foods that are very healthy for you. The reason they are so healthy is that they contain vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and they are high in fiber. Also if you eat them raw (except beans and potatoes) they will also contain living enzymes that aid in digestion.

Let me just go over with you a few of the worst foods to eat if you are trying to relieve constipation.

Cheeses are very clogging to your digestive track. Every time I eat cheese, or meals containing cheese, it feels like my stomach turns into a knot, and I usually feel clogged up with stomach pains for a few days until it has worked his way back out of my system.

However I have been on a healthy diet program for a long time now, so my digestive track is used to processing and eliminating my foods without them getting clogged up in my intestines.

But, if you have been eating cheese and other clogging foods for a long time, you might be used to the feeling of having a clogged up digestive track, and most people in the United States have been eating this way their whole lives so they don’t know what it feels like to not have digestive pains of some type.

White bread

Just about every sandwich, every burger on a bun, dinner roles, cakes, cookies, pies, pizza, pasta, and fast food biscuits, can cause constipation, especially if they are eaten alone without enough of the foods that relieve constipation also being eaten at the same meal.

This is because they contain very little fiber in them. Any time you eat constipating type foods, you should balance it out by eating foods that are high in fiber that I have listed above.

Pizza is another food that usually takes a long time to move through the digestive tract. Pizza is also another food that has almost no fiber in. Cheese and white bread are two of the main foods that will clog down your digestive tract. And pizza contains both.

How to avoid constipation:

— Stay hydrated by drinking enough pure water, raw fruit juices and raw vegetable juices.

— Stop or cut way down on eating refined foods. (They glue us down inside)

— Eat a lot more of the foods that relieve constipation that I have listed above.

If you are constipated, then you have food that is stuck in your intestines. This food that is stuck in your intestines starts to rot more and more the longer it is in your body.

Constipation is unhealthy for the body, especially if you are eating toxic, artificial chemical containing foods, or foods that you are intolerant to. Many people have food allergies that they might not know about that can cause many different types of symptoms.

To avoid constipation, make sure that you are not eating refined starches that have had the fiber removed like white rice, pastas, breads, tortillas, and biscuits. Also when eating any type of starch, you want the meal to have enough oil in it. Extra virgin olive or coconut oil are good clean sources of oil to use.

The more oil in the meal the less chance of constipation. But too much oil will zap your energy. Also you will want to eat enough fiber containing vegetables (but not fruits) with any starch-based meal.

If you eat more raw fruit smoothies for breakfast, then the high water content (the pulp of the orange, grapes, or Grapefruit) and the fiber in pears, apples, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and cranberries should keep things moving and rinsed out.

Also smoothies are blended into a liquid, which also helps to avoid constipation. Another good meal to eat to relieve constipation is to make a soup with many neutral vegetables, add some okra (okra is kind of slippery in texture) and then blend it into an emulsion with some Extra Virgin Olive oil or Coconut oil. These liquid type meals rarely ever get stuck inside your digestive tract.

If you eat more of the foods that relieve constipation, and cut out the constipating ones, you will have better chances of not developing bowel impaction. If you already have bowel impaction, you might be able to slowly reverse it by eating more of the foods that relieve constipation.

What exactly is bowel impaction?

Bowel impaction is where a mass of food gets stuck inside your intestines and turns into a hard lump that doesn’t come out. This lump of hard fecal matter then starts to rot. Then other foods that you eat later still has to be eliminated eventually, so they just have to go around the hard mass to get out. Your body might then develop chronic diarrhea to try and deal with the situation.

Bowel impaction can lead to the bowels becoming enlarged, which can then put too much pressure on the veins that are near the colon that are coming from various organs and muscles in the body.

Your organs need a fresh steady blood supply to function properly. You want all of your organs to work as they should if you want to stay healthy. Also high blood pressure can be because you have too many of your veins being pinched off. This is how varicose veins are formed. This is also how hemorrhoids are formed.

Just think of a water hose, if you pinch of the end of it, the pressure builds up and makes the hose expand. If you have high blood pressure because of veins being pinched off, then your heart will have to work harder to pump the blood through them.

By eating more of the foods that relieve constipation on a daily basis, you will feel better, you will become more regular in your bowel movements, and you will not have to worry as much about developing a more serious disease in the future that is caused from being chronically constipated.

I know that eating refined foods, candy, cakes, crackers, cheese, and pizzas are very tasty, but they cause constipation in many people. It is just not worth it to destroy our health by eating an unhealthy diet on a consistent basis. Also, once you cut out all the junk, and only eat healthy foods for a period of time, your taste buds will adapt, and the healthy foods will actually start to taste good.

Falling Out of Love: Can Depression Make You Fall Out of Love?

Falling out of love with someone is something that is hard to deal with but still happens. What defines relationships? Love usually defines relationships. However, what can be influential enough to lead someone into falling out love when they have invested so much into the relationship? One common cause is depression. Once you’ve come to lack love in yourself, it becomes difficult for you to love anyone else.

There are all sorts of types of love and stages of relationships. In order to move through these stages and to develop the long-lasting type of love, you must make a decision. You can decide to allow yourself to be open in love to fall in and out of love with someone. You can decide to make a relationship last through good times and bad times also.

More on Falling Out of Love

Let’s look deeper into the possibilities of falling out of love. First, what causes people to fall in love? Most people tend to mistake love for things like lust, desire and infatuation. These feelings are great but they don’t last forever. Once your heart stops racing and your hormones reduce, you begin to see your partner in a different light. You begin to realize that they are not as perfect as you thought you were.

Once you’ve come to that realization, you have a choice to accept them with their flaws, or to end the relationship and move on to the next partner. However, just because your relationship is going through a rocky road, that does not necessarily mean you are falling out of love. Those fluttering feelings may not always be around but if you garner up the ability to truly love your partner, you can have a long-lasting relationship with them.

Remember that it is important for you to analyze yourself and see if you even love yourself first. If you allow thoughts of depression to haunt you, you’ll begin to lose love for yourself. Once you stop loving yourself, it becomes much more difficult to love someone else. Make that choice to focus on the positives of life. Trials and heart breaks will always come but if you appreciate the great things in your life more than the bad, you’ll love not only yourself but everyone else around, especially your partner. Once you’ve attained that real love, you’ll enjoy the benefits of it lasting forever as long as cherish it.

How to Deal With Your Fear of Violence

There are certain situations and even certain jobs where the chance of something violent happening is higher than normal. Which for some people means that they develop a fear of violence which may or may not be justified in real life but is definitely very real if you’re the person suffering. Check out these tips to help calm or even overcome your fear.

1. Work with your fear

Depending on the situation, your fear could well be backed up by circumstances.

If that’s the case, work with it to minimize the risks that you’re being exposed to. Keeping your cell phone handy is a good start.

If your workplace has one, make sure you know the procedure for setting off the personal attack button – most of them are fairly easy to use but often require a deliberate action such as a double push to avoid them being set off accidentally.

If you’re often walking down dark streets then a personal alarm that would temporarily deafen a would-be attacker is a good idea.

Taking these steps to reduce your fear is a good way to stop it overpowering you completely.

2. Learn a relaxation technique

Often fear creeps up on us unexpectedly. Which means that the regular suggestions of things like meditation or yoga to help you relax aren’t particularly valid although they will help you to relax more over the longer term.

Even something as simple as deep breathing can be a good technique to help calm yourself down and reduce the fear of violence that you’re experiencing.

Another good technique that requires no special equipment is the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT for short), often referred to as tapping because it involves you tapping accupressure points in sequence. There are plenty of tutorials available online for free and it is a quick and easy way to deal with fears and help reduce them.

3. Face your fear

Depending on how likely your fear of violence is to turn into actual harm, this may be a good solution.

Stand up to your fear and challenge it to support the ideas it’s putting into your head.

This may seem odd at first and it’s probably best to practice on a small fear or phobia first. But if your fear isn’t particularly rational then challenging it and exposing it to questions – even if only inside your head – can be a great way to push it out of the way.

4. Keep yourself busy

So long as circumstances allow it, keeping yourself busy is a fantastic solution.

It means that your mind doesn’t have as much time to dwell on your fear of violence – you’ll be concentrating on other things instead so your mind won’t have time to blow your fear up into something that would make Freddy Krueger quiver in his boots.

5. Get outside help

Talk your fear over with a friend, listen to a hypnosis track or book a session with a professional. Any of these options for outside help will assist you with getting your fear of violence back under control and let you start living a more normal life again.

What Causes Panic Attacks? How Exhaustion Causes Panic Attacks

People often ask themselves, “What causes panic attacks?” They typically blame situations that they are in or other forces which are out of their control. What they do not realize is that panic disorders are often caused by exhaustion either physical, emotional or mental.

When you are constantly tired and run down your body is in a consistent nervous state. You can never truly relax or calm down due to the fact that you are never truly rested. When this happens… this nervous energy eventually manifests itself as panic and anxiety.

Being nervous and jittery really confuses your body and mind. Eventually these feelings become more and more pronounced… then they become what causes panic attacks. When these feelings build up to the point where they become physical symptoms they cause the person experiencing them a lot of confusion and fear.

When a person starts to manifest actual symptoms their minds start racing. You start to get concerned with your symptoms and you cannot stop thinking about them. All of this concern causes you to manifest other symptoms… and these eventually cause more. This is how the cycle of anxiety starts.

When your body reaches a breaking point… it causes you to have a panic attack to stop the cycle of anxiety. Your exhaustion is what causes panic attacks… and your body does all it can do to stop the feelings of anxiety and fear.

This cycle keeps repeating itself until you do something to stop it… it will not go away on its own. Many people suffer from anxiety and panic attacks for years before they seek out help. This causes the person years and years of pain an unneeded anxiety. The feelings of dread and anxiety make life almost unbearable.

If you can work on you exhaustion, which is what causes panic attacks, you can stop your disorder before it gets out of control. If you are physically drained set aside enough time for you to sleep at night. If you feel mentally drained… try meditation, yoga, working on a hobby, or exercise. If you are emotionally drained… you can work on it through therapy or talking.
