Health and Numerology – Problems to Guard Against for Your Life Path

Your health is your most precious commodity. If you new you had a predisposition to certain health problems, wouldn’t you take steps to guard your good health? Numerology can predict certain health problems that you may encounter.

People with a particular Life Path tend to have tendencies for certain kinds of health problems. By calculating your Life Path number, you can learn these potential problems and be on guard for them. And as in many things in Life, forewarned is forearmed.

Life Path Calculation

Your Life Path is your primary number in Numerology. It’s equivalent to your Sun sign in Astrology. You calculate your Life Path by adding together all the digits of your full date of birth, and then repeating the process until you get a single digit. This process is called fadic addition.

For example, actor Johnny Deep was born on June 9th, 1963, so his Life Path is a (7) as shown below.

06-09-1963 = (0 + 6 + 0 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 6 + 3) = (34) = (3 + 4) = (7)

Life Path (1) – Leaders

People with this life path are so driven and ambitious that they tend to ignore their physical health. Stress can be a major problem for them. They need to incorporate physical exercise into their lives as a coping mechanism to deal with high stress levels.

Life Path (2) – Cooperators

People with this life path tend to be great worriers. They need to guard against anxiety and the physical symptoms that come with it. Meditation is the ideal natural coping mechanism for these people. Medication may be necessary in extreme cases.

Life Path (3) – Entertainers

People with this life path tend to be generally healthy due to their sunny outlook on life. They need to guard against over indulgence in life’s pleasures. If they party too much, they don’t get enough rest and tire easily. Some self discipline on managing their time is in order.

Life Path (4) – Builders

People with this life path tend to work too hard and have a tendency to have problems sleeping. They need to learn to pace themselves and put their work aside at a reasonable hour. A caring spouse or friend can provide a needed reminder now and then to quit working and relax more.

Life Path (5) – Sellers

People with this life path tend to be easily annoyed by distractions or frustrating situations. They must learn to remain calm and avoid becoming angry or over-stressed. Learning anger management techniques, and turning to things that make them laugh are highly recommended.

Life Path (6) – Teachers

People with this life path tend to be more concerned for others than themselves. They frequently forget the basics of a healthy lifestyle when it comes to their own needs. Reminders from friends and family about the importance of taking care of themselves is useful.

Life Path (7) – Loners

People with this life path tend to live in tune with their bodies, and have few health problems. They have a strong intuition about what they need in terms of diet and exercise to keep themselves in top condition.

Life Path (8) – Warriors

People with this life path tend to be very strong and have great stamina; however the rigors of their combative nature can cause them to over-exert themselves in times of stress at work or play. They need to maintain a well balanced diet to keep their stores of energy up.

Life Path (9) – Humanitarian

People with this life path are very unselfish and tend to neglect their own welfare when those around them need their care. They need to remember to stay well and care for themselves so that they will always be there for others.

Safely Administering Your Own Insulin Injections

1. Choose a diabetic syringe and needle of the correct size.

The size of the syringe you need is simply dependent upon the volume of the insulin injections you will be administering. Unless you're overweight, the right size of needle is a short, thin needle. This will give you less pain. However, if you're overweight you may need a longer needle.

2. Choose a location for your diabetic insulin injection.

Insulin injections can go in a variety of areas of the body that have some fat under the skin. Typical areas for giving insulin injections include the thighs, back of arms, and stomach. As often as you'll be giving yourself insulin, you may find it a bit less painful to rotate the sites of insulin injections so that you do not become overly swollen and sore in one location. One side note is that your doctor may want you to give yourself injections exclusively in the stomach area if your doctor is seeking out the steadiest rate of insulin absorption by the body.

3. Make sure everything is clean.

You need to wash your hands and make sure you choose a sanitary syringe and needle. Syringes may be successfully reused by a single person if cleaned with rubbing alcohol between uses, but things can go wrong. In most cases it is recommended that you at least change needles for each injection, if not changing both needles and syringes.

4. Extract some fresh insulin.

Before sticking yourself with the needle, you need to make sure you have unexpired insulin in your syringe. Additionally, keep an eye out for signs that the insulin may be breaking down. If for example the insulin changes color or has debris floating in it, you should get your insulin replaced immediately. In particular, the fast-acting insulins should always be clear. If you use a longer acting insulin it may be a little cloudy. If you pay attention you will learn to recognize what your insulin looks like so that you will be able to tell when it does not look quite right.

It’s the Ingredients That Help DermaWound Heal Chronic, Hard-To-Heal Wounds

There are over 5 million people in the United States that suffer from chronic, hard-to-heal wounds. We feel that number is way too high. We would like to offer information on a product that has been healing many of these wounds. DermaWound heals pressure sores, diabetic leg or foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, ischaemic ulcers to surgical incisions/wound dehiscence, decubitus ulcers, sickle-cell ulcers and the list goes on…

DermaWound has been on the market for over 17 years helping people heal. The key to DermaWound’s success is the ingredients. They use a patented/proprietary, all natural formulation. We have listed each ingredient and then, more importantly, what each of those ingredients do to aid in the healing of long-standing chronic wounds.

Poly-Saccharide Blend– Sugars have multiple types of healing properties that have contributed to their use in wound care by many diverse cultures over the millennia. Sugars are bacteriostatic, fungistatic and anti-infective, so they do not promote the growth of bacteria or fungus. In addition, the sugars used in DermaWound have an osmotic pressure gradient to them that will pull edema and exudates out of a wound, decreasing any inflammation, while increasing blood flow. Our special poly-saccharide blend is also important in our 12-24 hour odor control guarantee.

Iodine USP– Iodine is anti: fungal, bacterial, viral & microbial. It is a very good broad spectrum anti-infective. To date: no known microbe, virus or fungus has developed a resistance against this time tested-tincture of old-Iodine.

Poly-Mineral Blend– Primarily calcium and magnesium with 73 trace minerals. These are utilized as an external source of nutritional building blocks for the metabolism of the recovering wound bed. We have found our blend to be especially important in ramping up cellular activity and growth.

Citric Acid– A natural preservative.

Dibasic Sodium Phosphate– A stabilizer

Glycerin– Smoothing agent.

Carrageenan– Increases adherence/tackiness of product to the wound surface.

Silica– Promotes wound healing. Absorbed by the body and used as fundamental building blocks in the formation of new tissues.

1-Octadecanol– An alcohol sugar – provides fundamental building blocks and energy for new tissue growth.

1-Hexadecanol – An alcohol sugar – provides fundamental building blocks and energy for new tissue growth.

Benzocaine USP – A topical anesthetic.

Purified Water– Provides a base to blend into a creamy consistency. Slightly alkaline – will contribute to wound healing.

No manufactured ingredients. All ingredients are 100% natural and ready to help your wounds heal.

Transformed By Gratitude

For the past few years since retirement, my parents spend half of the year in Vietnam and Australia. While in Vietnam, a portion of their time is spent visiting orphanages and facilities that house and care for the unwanted, the outcasts of society, the lame, and the diseased, left to institutions. I admire my parents; their mission is to live to give, and they have instilled those principles in our lives as well. If you have read "my story" you will understand why they have so much to be thankful for. Over the years, they have demonstrated gratefulness in many ways by being a blessing to others. We have watched them abide by the principle that it is more blessed to give then to receive. What an example to my siblings and me.

This last trip my parents bought pictures back of some of the institutions that they visited. I could barely look at the photos without shedding tears at seeing the living conditions. Several of the residence had missing limbs; arms, or legs, blind, and no opportunities to leave their stiff bamboo beds without someone dared to visit them and helped them off their beds. These people were so blessed by my parent's visit and generosity. The financial gift that they saved them was able to help provide for their basic everyday needs that they lacked due to their deteriorated conditions.

Seeing the photos and hearing their stories was a reminder to be grateful for the life that I have; the family, friends, health, and the daily provision that sometimes are taken for granted. Mom shared with me that this type of out casting is similar to that in Jesus' days when those who had the skin disease of leprosy had to live outside the villages because they were considered unclean.

During my reading time this morning in Luke, I came across a very powerful illustration about gratitude. Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem passing a village where there were ten men with leprosy who recognized Him from a distance. They also heard about how he performed great miracles. Leprosy is compared to Hansen's disease today. Leprosy is a bacteria disease that eats away the flesh, and often times fingers and toes or limbs may be lost due to the infections. During this time of history, anyone with this disease was sent off to a leper's colony away from society, away from people.

On this day, there were ten lepers that saw Jesus and tortured out to Him and asked Him to have mercy on them. Jesus immediately responded to them and told them to go show themselves to the priest. They must have thought to themselves, "What, how in the world will we be able to show ourselves in this condition?" You have to understand, in those days, a priest has to confirm if you are cleansed from leprosy or healed before allowing you to go back home or to be around other people. However, these men were still full of leprosy when Jesus cave them those instructions. Mind you, if they headed into town, they would probably be stoned or thrown out, but these guys were no dummies … if Jesus told them to go see the priest, and having heard about all the wonderful miracles he performed, they heeded His instructions, even if for a second they had their doubts. In their hearts they probably knew that Jesus was up to somethin '!

These ten lepers left and headed toward the pries and "as they went", they received their healing. They probably roled up their sleeves and saw that their sores disappeared. Jesus was aware of the law of leprosy and knew that if they acted on what He said; it was a demonstration of their or faith. For this reason, He told them to go show themselves to the priest, so he could confirm them cleansed from this disease. I bet they took off running and could not wait to tell the miracle. Jesus knew what he was doing, and knew that if they chose to go regardless of what they saw with their eyes, that before they arrived at their destination, they would be restored to health.

The story goes on to say that only one of the lepers, when he saw that he was wounded, fell on his face and brave God thanks. This man got Jesus' attention. Jesus replied to the man and said, "Were there not ten? But the nine, where are they? Was not one found who returned to give God glory except this man?" Because this one leper returned to give God thanks, Jesus blessed him even more. He told this man that his faith has made him whole.

Being healed is a miracle no doubt! The symptoms of the illness may have disappeared, perhaps there were some limbs still missing even though the sores disappeared. But to be made whole means, nothing missing, nothing lacking; complete; entity; not defective or imperfect (Webster's 1828). This tenth leper demonstrated gratitude and thanksgiving, and as a result of his healing got a double blessing. He was not only healed of the leprosy, but whatever was missing in his body, in his life, Jesus made him whole again. The secret to being made whole was being thankful. His life was transformed by gratitude. (Luke 17: 11-19)

You may not have leprosy, but is there anything that is missing or missing in your life today that you need made whole, complete, not defective or imperfect? Can you find something in your life to be grateful for? Even if all Hell seems to be breaking loose, you can find something to be thankful for. Or you may say, "This is just a nice story from the Bible, but it's not for today, come on, we're living in the twenty-first century." Yes, we are … there is a saying that goes, "If the principals work, work the principles!" Principles never cease!

I love this quote by Rabbi Harold Kushner, "If you concentrate on finding whatever is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul."

This is a truth; the principle of gratitude will transform your life. "You will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given to you." (Sarah Ban Breathnach). And in everything, give thanks! (1Thes. 5:18)

Signs And Symptoms Of Low Blood Pressure And The Dangers

People often think of hypertension (high blood pressure) when blood pressure problems or issues are mentioned – they seem to forget that low blood pressure problems also exist.

The American Heart Association defines high blood pressure parameters being 140/90 and higher and normal as 135/85 and lower. The higher numerical reading is the systolic reading – the pressure required to pump blood through your arteries and the higher the number the less elastic your arterial system is. The lower numerical reading is the diastolic reading – the pressure remaining in your system between heart beats and is the number that affects your cardiovascular system the most. If the pressure remains high in your system even when your heart is at rest then there is greater risk of heart failure, kidney failure and stroke.

Likewise the diastolic reading is important in determining warning signs or problems. There is some disagreement about what numbers constitute low blood pressure – it is agreed that symptoms can be identified and some experts regard a reading lower than 90/60 as low. Only one of these numbers has to be low, for example, 115/50 is considered low as the diastolic reading of 50 is below 60.

It can be dangerous when there is a sudden drop in blood pressure. For example, a change of only 20 mm HG (systolic reading change from 130 to 110) may cause fainting or dizziness because not enough oxygen is received by the brain.

While high blood pressure is dangerous, low blood pressure also has dangers that impact negatively on a person’s health. Some low blood pressure sufferers are in great physical shape and have strong cardiovascular systems and experience symptoms because their cardiovascular systems and hearts are strong with arterial systems elasticity being flexible.

Low blood pressure can mean cardiovascular problems or may result by changing anti-hypertensive medications. Symptoms include lightheadedness, dizziness, blurred vision, rapid shallow breathing, clammy and cold skin, lack of concentration, thirst, nausea, fainting and fatigue. Some people suffer from Shy-Drager syndrome (neurological damage) after consuming a large meal which means a lot of blood is directed to the gastrointestinal system for digestion and even causes faulty brain signals. Other common reasons are medication side effects, pregnancy, dehydration, blood loss, infections and anemia.

Baby Health – Immunization

'Prevention is better than cure' is the basis for the widely propagated immunization program for tiny tots. Perpetually, it is better to avert a disease than to cure it.

Not only do the vaccines protect those who have been administrated the dose, but also the un-vaccinated part of the population. Children who are vaccinated as per the immunization program have a heightened resistance towards potentially life threatening diseases.

The importance of immunization stays put even if your child has been consistently breast fed. Although the immunity boosting antibodies provided your milk are very essential, they do not last longer than a year after his birth.

Also, maternal immunization is not able to deal with more sinister diseases like whooping cough and polio which are also extremely contagious. Due to the world wide campaign for immunization and its significance, certain fatal diseases like small pox have been almost entirely wiped out.

The complete immunization program mostly works on eradicating the disease like Tetanus, hepatitis, whooping cough or pertussis, polio, rubella (German measles), mumps, haemophilus, influenza b and diphtheria.

Certain vaccines provide the child immunity for his entire life span, while others may have to be administrated more than once. When a disease infests itself in the human body, it turns into a battleground between the disease causing organisms (antigens) and our protectors, the antibodies. Our body retaliates against the invaders by rapidly producing antibodies which fight and annihilate the antigens. Vaccines are actually the dwindled or killed form of the pathogens that cause a particular disease. Once inside the body these bacteria or viruses do not harm but invoke the same reaction from it, that is, the rapid production of antibodies. These antibodies then remain active for a lifetime or less, depending on the vaccine.

After vaccination routine side-effects like fever or rash might make your baby little fussy, recommended doses of simple medicines like acetaminophen or ibuprofen will make him feel better. Although the usefulness of vaccines is debated at times, the boons of immunization outweigh any risks by far. Give you baby a lifetime of health and smiles by meticulously following the immunization schedule.

The First Signs of Chicken Pox

The chicken pox is an infectious disease caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV), which is related to the herpes family. It is extremely common among children, but can also occur in adults as well.

It usually takes about 10 to 21 days before the first signs of chicken pox to appear in someone after contact with another person that is suffering from this contagious virus (also known as the incubation period).

What are the first signs of chicken pox?

The first signs of chicken pox include symptoms such as tiredness, low-grade fever, and a loss of appetite. These are usually the earliest signs of the disease that occurs, which about 1-2 days later is next followed by a rash or red spots. However, the first signs of chicken pox do not always occur before the rash developments.

When the rash appears, it most often appears on the face, scalp and trunk first. Then it is usually followed by about 50-500 blisters that consume the entire body. Although many of these factors are determined by age (for instance, adults get it much worse than children), as well as how your immune system is functioning.

There are over 26 potential symptoms, here's some just to name a few:

  • High fever
  • Severe itchiness
  • Red spots / blisters all over body
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Dehydration
  • Worsening of asthma
  • Fatigue / low energy
  • Insomnia
  • Headaches
  • Abdominal pain
  • Chills
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Mood swings

About 1 in 10 children who first have the first signs of chicken pox will have a complication and will have to go to the hospital. Many cases can lead to serious infection, so please be sure to not leave this disease untreated. There are over 4,000 to 6,000 people who end up in the hospital each year in the United States due to this disease.

The best thing to do is make sure that your child or whomever is suffering from this disease is getting the proper care. A good start is lots of rest, drinking fluids, and staying away from other people as this illness is highly contagious and it's easy to pass it on.

If you have had any vaccination, then you are still not completely immune from the disease. The varicella zoster virus vaccination is only about 80-90% effective. However, if you do get this disease and have had the infection, then it usually will be more mild. But still, take precaution and take the necessary steps to get your health (or your child's health) back in order.

What Are the Main Causes of Miscarriage, and How Can They Be Avoided?

Clinically put, a miscarriage is defined as the early and unplanned termination of a pregnancy. Emotionally, it is much more than that. Expectant parents often feel an innate sense of sadness and failure when they lose an unborn child. This can affect both mother and father equally.

Much research has been carried out to discover why miscarriage occurs. Sometimes, the cause is obvious; other times, it is baffling, particularly when seemingly healthy parents fall victim.

It is generally agreed that there are five main causes of miscarriage:

1. Genetics. Genetics accounts for about 50% of all early miscarriages. For mostly unknown reasons, the baby fails to develop properly in the womb. This eventually leads to a miscarriage, as the fetus is not strong enough to continue growing.

2. Hormonal imbalance. Generally, when women find it hard to conceive, they are more likely to miscarry. The main reason for difficulty with conception is hormonal imbalance, which also relates to reproductive organ disorders and diseases.

3. Immune system. Problems with blood supply to the placenta can starve the fetus of nutrients and leave it too weak to develop or survive.

4. Infection/Illness. Very high temperature and some viruses or infections, such as Rubella, may cause miscarriage, as can conditions such as diabetes.

5. Anatomical. If the cervix is weak, it may start to open as the womb becomes heavier in later pregnancy. Cysts may cause miscarriage in later pregnancy and can also alter the shape of the womb, which can result in miscarriage.

The factors that cause these problems cannot always be avoided. The following are common risks, and how a pregnant mother should regard them, when considering fetal health:

  • Ailments. Conditions such as Rubella, Diabetes and PCOS can increase the probability of miscarriage. Sufferers should see a doctor or midwife for preventative measures as soon as pregnancy is suspected.
  • Smoking. It has been proven that smoking causes miscarriage, so pregnant mothers should quit as soon as possible.
  • Drugs. A proven fact, as with smoking, the use of drugs (e.g., cocaine) can cause miscarriage and should be avoided.
  • High Blood Pressure. Losing weight, gentle exercise and a healthy diet can reduce some cases of high blood pressure. However, medical intervention is necessary with conditions such as pre-eclampsia.
  • Pharmaceuticals. Some prescription drugs can cause miscarriage. With a doctor’s approval and support, withdrawal from these should be gradual and substituted with an alternative medicine.
  • Age. Older woman are more likely to suffer miscarriage, so it is important that they lead an extra healthy lifestyle when pregnant.

An expectant mother who leads as healthy, organic and active a life as possible may still have to experience the devastation of miscarriage. Even so, steps should always be taken to reduce the risk of miscarriage as much as possible, such as eating a healthy, balanced diet, doing light exercise, getting plenty of sleep, and avoiding stress.

Flu Prevention and the Gym Member

Health officials' warning this month of a potentially harsh flu season should be a red flag to avid aerobic-bunnies and gym-jocks alike. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warn that the flu is transmitted when flu virus in the air is inhaled after an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks. Transmission also occurs when a person touches a surface that has flu virus on it and then touches his or her nose or mouth. Those familiar with the typical health club milieu, then, can easily liken a workout in the gym to sitting in a veritable Petry dish …

Heavy-breathing members on closely-enclosed cardiovascular machines and in crowded group fitness classes, hundreds of sorts of shared equipment from dumbbells and weight plates to public restrooms and the corner water fountain provide countless opportunities for contact with the flu virus. So, short of ditching our fitness goals until mid-Spring, it would do us well to learn more about the flu, it's prevention, and what we can do about it.

What is the flu?

The flu, or influenza, is a contagious disease caused by the influenza virus. It attacks the respiratory tract in humans (nose, throat, and lungs). The flu is different from a cold; it usually comes on suddenly and may include these symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Tiredness (can be extreme)
  • Dry cough
  • Sore Throat
  • Nasal congestion
  • Body aches

About 10% to 20% of US residents will get the flu each year. Among these persons infected, an average of 36,000 will die, and 114,000 will be hospitalized. Although the CDC claims it is not possible to accurately predict the severity of the flu season, this year's early incidence of Type A flu strain is historically associated with a more severe flu season, including higher numbers of related hospitals and deaths. To make the outlook more grim, an epidemiological assessment by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) already reports "widespread" influenza activity in over 10 US states.

Who is at risk?

Although anyone can get the flu, including individuals who are healthy, there are various groups who are at higher risk for complications. These high risk groups include:

  • people aged> 50 years;
  • residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities that house persons of any age who have long-term illnesses;
  • adults and children> 6 months of age who have chronic heart or lung conditions, including asthma;
  • adults and children> 6 months of age who need regular medical care or had to be in a hospital because of metabolic diseases (like diabetes), chronic kidney disease, or weakened immune system (including immune system problems caused by medicine or infection with human immunodeficiency virus [HIV / AIDS]);
  • children and teenagers (aged 6 months to 18 years) who are on long-term aspirin therapy and there before could develop Reye Syndrome after the flu; and
  • women who will be more than 3 months pregnant during the flu season.

How to Prevent Getting the Flu

Health officials are encouraging people, particularly those in high-risk groups to obtain a flu shot. The CDC states that an annual flu shot is the best way to reduce the chances that you will get the flu.

The best time to get a flu shot is from October through November, although you can still benefit from getting the vaccine after November, even if the flu is present in your community. Be aware that it takes about two weeks after the vaccine for antibodies to develop in the body to provide protection.

Obtaining the vaccine does not guarantee a flu-free season, however. Influenza viruses are constantly changing, and vaccine effectiveness depends on the match between vaccine strains and circulating viruses and the age and health status of the person getting the shot. Although the strain in this year's flu vaccine is different from the circulating strain, the CDC states that studies indicate that the vaccine should provide some cross-protection against the circulating A strain.

Some people resist getting the flu shot because of the belief that they will get different side effects, or even the flu itself, from the vaccine. The viruses in the vaccine are inactivated, so you can not get the flu from a flu shot. Certain side effects are possible, such as soreness, redness, or swilling where the shot was given, fever (low grade), and aches.

Chances that the shot will cause serious harm, or death, is very small and allergic reactions to the vaccine, though possible, are rare, states the CDC. Most people who get the vaccine have no serious problems with it. However, the following groups should not get a flu shot before talking with their doctor:

  • People with an allergy to hens' eggs.
  • People who have had a severe reaction to a flu shot in the past.
  • People who have developed Guillian-Barre Syndrome in the 6 weeks following a flu shot.

Since obtaining vaccination does not necessitate guarantee immunity against the flu, it is wise to add common sense to our prevention efforts while we are busy pumping iron at the health club. Old fashioned hand-hygiene can go a long way in helping to prevent flu transmission. Although you do not want to spend your entire workout running to the restroom to wash your hands after every set, it's certainly advisable to make sure your hands are clean before and after the workout. Refrain from touching your nose and mouth during the workout to avoid obtaining the virus. Use of hand-antiseptics which include alcohol can also help to prevent transmission of the flu virus.

What to do if you get the flu

So what if you obtain a flu shot, practice stellar hand-hygiene and manage to contract the flu anyway? Since it is impossible to tell if you have the flu based on symptoms alone, visit your doctor. Tests can be performed in the first few days of the illness to determine the diagnosis. Since influenza is caused by a virus, antibiotics will not work to cure it. You need to rest, drink plenty of fluids, avoid using alcohol and tobacco, and possibly take medication to treat symptoms.

The CDC warns never to give aspirin to children or teenagers who have flu-like symptoms, particularly fever, without speaking to your doctor. Doing so can cause a rare but serious illness called Reye syndrome.

By all accounts, we may be in store for a particularly harsh flood season this year. Take precaution to reduce the likelihood of getting the flu, particularly if you are an avid gym-goer. Preventative measures may not only help to avoid the flu, but also interrupting hard earned progress on your fitness goals.

How to Get Relief For Low Back Pain

Low back pain, also known as lumbago is a somewhat common disorder that most people will likely experience some time in their lives. It is, in fact, the main cause of job-related disability in many western countries. The condition is caused by several potential factors, and all of these factors involve some kind of sprain or strain, pressure, infection, as well as swelling of the muscles. Because back pain can sometimes be a symptom of a serious ailment, it should be taken care of immediately. This article will talk about the symptoms and remedies for sciatica.

Symptoms of lower back pain

Lower back symptoms vary from a shooting or stabbing sensation to a dull ache. The pain might make it difficult to stand up straight or move. The sufferer may experience sudden acute pain, often after sustaining an injury from lifting heavy objects or sports. The condition is chronic if the pain lasts more than 3 months. You should speak with your healthcare professional, if the pain does not go away after 72 hours.

If you experience acute pain after an injury or a fall, you should consult your doctor immediately. Other low back symptoms include pain when urinating or coughing, fever, leg fatigue, and loss of bladder or bowel control. If you experience any of the symptoms listed here together with the back pain, see your physician immediately.

Home Remedy for Lower Back Pain

Low Back pain as a result of muscle strain will generally improve on its own, however there are certain things you can do to lessen the pain. Warm baths or a heating pad might give you temporary pain relief.

When you suffer from lower back pain, you may feel like remaining on your bed all day. However if the pain is as a result of muscle strain, healthcare professionals recommend going back to your usual activities as soon as you can. Studies indicate that taking a bed rest for more than one or two days can actually worsen the pain and may reduce muscle flexibility and tone.

Yoga

If after three months the pain has not gone away, there is evidence that the condition can be effectively rated through yoga. In a recent investigation, individuals who took 3 months of yoga exercises instructional classes had fewer lower back symptoms than individuals who made use of other treatment options. The benefits lasted many months after finishing the classes. Ensure you go to a trainer who is experienced at instructing people with low back pain.

Massage Therapy

Studies indicates that massage might help alleviate chronic lower back pain. After ten weeks, individuals who were given weekly massages experienced less pain than individuals who were given traditional care. The same results were achieved irrespective of the kind of massage that was given.

Medicines

Mild pain can sometimes be alleviated by taking pain relievers, for example naproxen, ibuprofen, or acetaminophen. These pain relievers can be purchased over the counter. If you suffer from chronic pain or severe pain, your physician may recommend prescription drugs. If other treatments fail to provide relief, your physician may recommend surgery.

Even after treating the underlying cause of the pain, it is important that you take precautionary measures in order to prevent the pain from coming back.

Smartphone Display: Types, Pros & Cons

A smartphone's screen acts as an interface between the device and a user. It is one of the most essential and most delicate components in a Phone / Tablet / PC / Laptop. We interact with our device through a screen, give commands, receive output all through a surface, in short smartphones are nothing without a screen! These smartphones feature different types of display screen each having its own set of merits and demerits. All additional features like color contrast, contrast ratio, sunlight legibility, brightness depends on the type of screen that a smartphone has. Today, smartphones are becoming all screen and iPhone X is an apt example of that! There is an increased demand for large screen phones with a size equal or above 6 inches.

Here are the most common type of screens with their pros and cons. Read till the end to know more about the type of screen that your smartphone features:

TFT is the most commonly used surface in budget phones. TFT LCD offers good quality images & higher resolution. TFT features narrow viewing angles that do not offer HD view when seen from the edges or in the sunlight. It offers the best view and HD colors when seen from the front. TFT's are all passé now and the upcoming smartphone models do not feature it.

IPS LCD's are considered the best all! They consume less power as compared to the TFT ones and offer better view even if seen from the edges of the screen. IPS screen is available in hi-end smartphone models. IPS LCD screens are legitimate in sunlight and have wider viewing angles. The screen consumes less power and emits true to life colors. The screen is backed by a backlight which consumes less battery than the TFT surface but the battery consumption is way more if compared to the OLED screens.

A capacitive screen features a glass and a conductor. It responds to finger touch and is unresponsive if operated by a stylus or gloved hands. The screen offers a great view and colors to the user. Such screen types are not used by the manufacturers anymore.

OLED screens produce better colors, offer wider viewing angles, impressive color contrast and have faster response time if compared to an LCD. Differential Diagnosis of Gout – What Causes The Joint Pain?

The differential diagnosis of patients presenting with joint pain is extensive, ranging from mild sprain, joint dislocation, trauma, malignancy, infection, and some life-threatening autoimmune diseases.

Joint pains that caused by physical activities are very obvious and easy to be diagnosed. Examples of this kind of injury are sprained ankle, joint separation, ligament sprain, torn cartilage and torn cartilage. Typically, this kind of pain is immediate and the patient can vividly remember the physical activity that causes the pain at the joint. These kinds of traumatic condition can happen to people of all ages.

Other causes of joint paint that usually affect people of older age are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis is the result of mechanical degradation of the joints due the years or wear and tear. It usually happens to those who were physically active during their younger years, such as sportsman or those who work in hard labor jobs.

One the other hand, rheumatoid arthritis is a form of autoimmune disease where the abnormal immune system attacks the tissues around the joints and causes inflammation and pain. The actual cause of rheumatoid arthritis is still unknown, some say it is because of viral or bacterial infections, some say it is because of genetically inherited abnormalities. Extensive researchers are still taking place around the world to find out the answer to this mysterious illness that affects a huge number of elderly population.

Although these 2 types of arthritis have very different causes, but they share certain similar symptoms that make them easy to be ruled out in the differential diagnosis of gout. Both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis typically develop the pain over a long period of time and they usually affect joints of both sides of the body such as in the feet, hands. These kinds of arthritis usually attack multiple joints at the same time and the pain develops gradually.

Another more common cause of joint pain in the modern day is gouty arthritis which is more commonly known as gout . Gout attack is a type of inflammation that is caused by the formation of urate crystals inside a particular joint due to long term exposure to hyperuricemia. Many times, gout is mistaken as one of the above mention arthritis conditions, especially when the patient get the gout attack for the very first time.

Differential diagnosis of gout is very straight forward and easy, here are some of the unique properties of gout that differentiate it from other causes of joint inflammation.

  • Sudden occurrence of intense pain
  • The attack starts in the middle of the night when the victim is sleeping
  • It usually attacks one side of the joints
  • 90% of the gout attacks happen at big toe
  • If blood test is conducted, it typically shows a high blood serum uric acid level that is beyond healthy range

Although Gout is easy to be diagnosed, but it is not easy to get rid this awful devil. Those gout drugs and pain killers can only temporarily control the gouty infection, none of them can remove the root cause of gout, which is the urate crystal.

It is commonly known among the gout patients that gout pain is the worst and most unbearable pain in their life. Instead of wasting your money on those expensive tests involved in the differential diagnosis of gout, you should spend some time to understand the actual cause of gout and remove the root once and for all.

Herpes Zoster – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Herpes zoster, also known as ‘shingles’, is a syndrome characterized by a painful, unilateral vesicular rash, usually restricted to the skin area supplied by a particular nerve. Herpes zoster is usually caused by a reactivation of the chicken-pox virus, which lies dormant in the spinal dorsal root ganglia. Common symptoms include pain in a particular area, followed by a rash which gradually becomes pustular and then crusts over a period of 7 to 10 days. The pain is usually described by patients as burning, throbbing or stabbing, and usually lasts up to 1 month. A few patients may have generalized symptoms such as headache, fever, malaise or fatigue.

The Ayurvedic treatment of herpes zoster is aimed at controlling the pain, treating localized symptoms and preventing complications like neuralgia. In the initial stages, when the disease presents in the form of blisters, an ointment containing medicines like Chandan (Santalum album), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Usheer (Vetiveria zizanioidis) and Haridra (Curcuma longa) is applied on the affected area. Once the blisters collapse with ulcer formation, an ointment containing Haridra, Daruharidra (Berberis aristata), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra) and Mandukparni (Centella asiatica) is applied on the affected skin. This application is continued till a complete resolution of the lesions.

In order to control pain, medicines like Triphala-Guggulu, Yograj-Guggulu, Kaishor-Guggulu, Sinhanaad-Guggulu, Trayodashang-Guggulu, Vat-Gajankush-Ras, Maha-Vat-Vidhwans-Ras and Vish-Tinduk-Vati are used. Herbal medicines which have a definite antiviral action are used to control the herpes zoster virus. These medicines include Bhumiamalaki (Phyllanthus niruri), Yashtimadhuk, Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa), Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), Bhrungraj (Eclipta alba), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) and Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa). Herpes zoster pain which lasts for more than 1 month is termed as post-herpetic neuralgia. To prevent this complication, medicines like Kaishor-Guggulu, Tapyadi-Loh, Ekang-Veer-Ras and Bruhat-Vat-Chintamani are used. Herpes zoster lesions which do not heal easily or which have a tendency to occur are indicative of a severely immuno-compromised status like HIV. In such situations, medicines like Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), Bala (Sida cordifolia), Suvarna-Malini-Vasant and Suvarna-Raj-Vangeshwar-Ras are used to improve the immune status of the body.

In most patients with herpes zoster, the rash usually resolves within 2 to 3 weeks. It is important to prevent post-herpetic neuralgia, especially in elderly patients who are more prone to complications. Patients with involvement of the eyes should be referred to an Ophthalmologist for appropriate treatment.

7 Stages of Cancer Development

You must have heard of this statistic that out of every 3 of us, one of us will get cancer. But do you know that back in 1901, only 1 in 8,000 got cancer? Our body actually tries in so many ways to give us all the warnings and symptoms to tell us that something is not right and we need to do something about it!

Let us see from the Holistic Health Science point of view how cancer develops in 7 stages.

First stage, Enervation.

It is not recognized as a disease yet. Most people will just feel tired, exhausted and worn-out at this stage. The best way to recover from enervation is to get enough sleep as sleep is the greatest energy charger! Inadequate sleep and rest are the main causes of enervation.

Second stage, Toxemia or intoxication.

Toxemia is a state where toxins saturate our body. This happens when we fail to observe our capacities and ignore the symptoms of enervation. We continue to overwork, sleep late and are under great stress.

Third stage, Irritation is when we feel itchy and uncomfortable, or when we have irritating but not painful areas.
Irritation results from toxic substances being sensed by our nervous system. Our body is giving us signal to move away from this condition.

Fourth stage, Inflammation.

It’s only at this stage that doctors recognize it as disease as it involves pain. Maybe you’ve experienced this before: you completely lost your appetite; and you don’t feel hungry at all even you’ve not been eating for the whole day, all you want to do is just to sleep and rest! Sounds familiar? The area becomes inflamed due to the continuous irritation of toxic substances. Appendicitis (appendix), tonsillitis (tonsils), hepatitis (liver) and nephritis (kidney) are all inflammation but in different areas.

Fifth stage, Ulceration.
Our body use ulcer as a way to drain toxic built-up, it will heal if causes are stopped. Cells and tissue structures are being damaged due to our body’s inability to live in increasing toxin.

Sixth stage, Induration, or often called tumor formation.

Induration is the process where our tissue hardened so that ulcer and toxic materials can be kept inside and sealed off by the hardening of the tissue around them. This is a way of quarantining the toxins. This shows how our body tries so hard to protect us even at this stage! However, if we continue with our destructive lifestyles and diet patterns, our body will eventually dissolve the hard tissue when the toxin level is so high and it can no loner take it! This means the toxins will leak and circulate to other parts of the body, and that leads to cancer…

Final stage, Cancer.
Our cells have become parasitic at this stage. Cancer is usually fatal, it can ONLY be reversible with the condition of us stopping the causes and indulge in healthful practices, as healthful practices are the universal panacea!
