A few years ago I was asked if I knew what the most deadly gynecologic cancer was and I answered “Well, breast cancer of course.” Oh, how I was wrong. The American Cancer Society estimates that the average five year survival rate of breast cancer at any stage to actually be 89 percent. While no cancer is good that’s a pretty good rate. The correct answer to the question is ovarian cancer, and its five year survival rate (estimated by the American cancer society) is only 46 percent. We need to find out why this cancer is so deadly.

Cancer is a dangerous and mysterious thing to people that don’t know much about it. Well, everyone is made up of cells, cells are what make up tissue and tissue is what makes up our organs. Normally when a cell gets old and tired it dies just like we do and a new cell takes its place. Our body produces these new cells by growing and dividing healthy cells. Sometimes our body overproduces cells and this is when tumors (mass of tissue) are formed. These tumors aren’t always cancer; when they are not they are called benign tumors. When they are cancer they are call malignant; these are the ones that can be life-threatening. Both types of tumors can be removed but the cancerous ones are more likely to grow back and only they also can spread to different parts of your body. When this happens the cancer cells are breaking away from the original tumor and entering the blood stream to use it like a highway to travel around your body. When the cancer cells spread like this it’s called metastasis and the cancer can start to go new tumors. If these cells reach any of your organs and start to go new tumors and this is when damage can be done.

They call it ovarian cancer because the tumor first starts at the ovaries and is made up of over productive ovarian cells. The ovaries are part of the women’s reproductive system and are attached to the uterus by the fallopian tubes. When a malignant tumor starts to grow these areas can also be affected because of their close proximity to the ovaries. When this tumor starts to shed cancer cells the cells typically go to the abdomen first because it’s closest to where the reproductive system is located. Then as I said before the cancerous cells can start to affect your lymph nodes and enter your blood stream to travel to different organs.

Ovarian cancer is so deadly because it’s very hard to detect. Every year more than 14,600 women die from ovarian cancer in the United States. This may not seem like a lot when you think of all the billion people that live here but when about 20,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year that number seems like a lot. So this means that on average 7 out of 10 women will die from this disease and this is all because it is so hard to detect. In order to detect it you have to know what the symptoms are. The most common symptoms are pain in the abdomen, pelvis, back or legs because of where the cancer is located in your body. You can also have a swollen or bloated abdomen because it can fill up with fluids. You will also feel very tired all the time and would have some nausea, indigestion, gas, constipation, or even diarrhea. Some less common symptoms would be shortness of breath, the urge to urinate often, and unusual vaginal bleeding. Now these are pretty general symptoms and many other disease or illnesses can cause them and that’s why it’s so hard to detect because ovarian cancer is not typical the very first thing we think of when we have one or more of these symptoms.

Most women would think if there was a problem that it would show up on their Pap test which is a once yearly screening that women get from their doctor. However, a Pap test is only screening for cervical cancer and it cannot be used to diagnose ovarian cancer. When women do go in to your doctor for the Pap test he or she should be doing a pelvic exam as well, during this they will feel your ovaries and organs in close proximity for any lumps or changes in shape and/or size. More often than not the doctors will not be able to feel a tumor until they are a substantial size. This is why we look to other testing as well as the pelvic exam to diagnose this cancer. If women who have abdominal bloating or pain and would go to the doctor, they may check your abdomen for fluid buildup. The next way to get diagnosed is by having an ultrasound done. There are two different types of ultrasounds that can be done; the first is the less invasive of the two. This is where they take the ultrasound device and press it up against your abdomen and the sound waves that it produces bounce off the organs to produce a picture for us to see. By using this they would be able to get a picture of the ovaries to see if there was a tumor or any abnormalities. The second type of ultrasound they can do is a transvaginal ultrasound and it does the same things as the regular one however this device is inserted into the vagina for a much better view of the ovaries. The last test to help diagnose this cancer is a biopsy. They will only do a biopsy if blood test and one of the ultrasounds have indicated that there may be a tumor. A biopsy is when they take a sample of tissue or fluid to look for cancer cells. Once they biopsy has been done a pathologist will look as the sample under a microscope for any cancer cells. If there are some found then they will be described as either grade 1, 2, or 3 and this is based off of how abnormal the cells look.

Once the doctors have determined that there are cancer cells present they have to determine what stage the disease is in before they can start any treatment. In order to find out what stage the cancer is in the doctor must know grade the tumor is which we discussed earlier and they also may need to run a series of more test such as a CT scan or a chest x-ray. The CT scan is where they would give you some contrast material and the machine would then take several pictures to get a clearer picture of your pelvis and abdomen to see any tumors or abdominal fluid. The chest x-ray is used to see if the cancer has spread to your lungs and if there is any fluid buildup there as well.

There are four stages of ovarian cancer; the first stage is called stage 1. Stage 1 is where cancer cells can be found on one or both ovaries or in abdominal fluid. Only 15 percent of the total women diagnosed have stage 1 and they have a 5 year survival rate of 93.8 percent (statistics). Stage 2 is where the cancer has spread to other reproductive organs such as the fallopian tubes and the uterus. It can also be found in abdominal fluid as well as other tissue in the pelvis area. The 5 year survival rate for stage 2 is 72.8 percent and only 17 percent of women diagnosed have this stage. Stage 3 is where the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes and can be also found on the outside of the liver. This is the most common stage that women are diagnosed (62 percent) with only a 28.2 percent survival rate or 5 years (statistics). The last stage is stage 4 and this is when the cancer can be found in the lungs or in any other organs. So, at this point it has traveled out of both the pelvic and abdominal areas. This has the lowest survival rate of 27.3 percent and the lowest percent of women diagnosed at 7 percent (statistics).

Once the doctor has determined what stage you are in you can start treatment accordingly. Most women will have surgery to remove cancer cells and also both ovaries and fallopian tubes, your uterus, any nearby lymph nodes, as well as the omentum which is a thin fat pad that covers the intestines. As of right now we cannot explain why one women may develop this cancer and another will not but there are some women that are at higher risk. If you have any women in your family that has had ovarian cancer, specifically your mother, daughter, or sister you or a family member are at a higher risk. But, also if you or any other family members have had uterus, colon, rectum, or breast cancer you or a family member will be at a higher risk. Most women that are diagnosed with this disease are over the age of 55 and have never been pregnant. If you or a family member is at an increase risk you want to talk to your family member to make sure they are aware of these risks. Then I would encourage those at risk people to consult your doctor and see if anything can be done to make sure if you would so some signs of cancer, it could be detected early.

They may recommend genetic testing to see if you have a certain mutation of the BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 gene which has been linked to ovarian cancer and breast cancer. If you go and have this testing done you will have to provide a detailed family history and also give a blood sample. They will test they blood for mutations in your DNA, specifically looking at your BRCA 1 and 2 genes. When you get the results back they will let you know if they found a mutation and if they did you know that you for sure are at an increase risk. If they don’t find a mutation they will still put you into an at risk category based on your family history. This testing has been very important in determining the links between certain mutations and ovarian cancer. The more data we can collect the better off we are on finding a connection.

The most important thing to remember is that this is the most deadly gynecologic cancer with very nonspecific symptoms, 15,000 women die from this cancer every year. If you or anyone you know are having any of these symptoms you should talk to them and encourage them to contact their doctor in hopes of early detection. The earlier the detection the better chances you or a family member has of not becoming one of the 15,000.

The following foods contain tofu, and can be served without meats and seafood: tofu with vegetable medley, tofu muffins, tofu and cheese omelet, sauteed tofu steak, tofu caramel custard, tofu anmitsu (traditional fruit salad), broiled tofu steak, tomato and olive tofu spread, braised cubed tofu steak with eggplant and zucchini, tofu steak with teriyaki butter sauce, tofu steak sandwich, tofu steak with salsa sauce, tofu steak nuggets, tofu steak fajita, tofu steak with Asian mushroom sauce, tofu and egg burger, tofu and vegetable burger, tofu burger, tofu quesadilla, oriental tofu salad, split pea soup with tofu, creamy oriental tofu dressing, tofu broccoli lasagna, grilled tofu and cheese, tofu spaghetti sauce, Spanish rice with tofu, tofu and vegetable stir-fry, zesty Italian pasta and tofu, spicy tofu chili, spicy tofu burritos, Tex-Mex tofu lasagna, pita stuffed tofu salad, tofu custard filled cake, pineapple tofu pie, and tofu custard with sesame flavor.

Attempting brevity, I only brainstormed gout-safe high-protein foods containing cheese, buckwheat, peanuts, and tofu. If I were to include gout-safe high-protein foods containing milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, eggs, amaranth grain, quinoa, almonds, cashews, pecans, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, soy milk, beans, soy beans, and split peas, I would end up writing a novel. Though I only focused on foods containing cheese, buckwheat, peanuts, and tofu, you can see that there is plenty of variety.

Warnings, Interactions, and Side Effect

Gout attacks can be cured by following the dietary changes suggested here. However, please keep in mind that it is easier to prevent gout attacks than intervene in the middle of gout attacks. So it is best to use the suggested dietary changes proactively rather than reactively.

Some foods suggested here can dangerously interact with some prescription drugs or medical conditions. For example, eating cheese while taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) can kill you. Also, drinking red wine while having liver cirrhosis can worsen your condition. So to be on the safe side, you should get the approval of your physician and pharmacist before following the suggested dietary changes.

Gout-prone people can have a side effect from aspirin. Though normal people can take aspirin without having a side effect, gout-prone people can have the side effect of a gout attack. So if you are gout-prone and have a headache, it is best that you take Motrin (ibuprofen) instead of Bayer (aspirin).

A lot of you may know that emotional stress often underlies any number of physical pains and illnesses, and that if you can find a way to deal with the emotional stress, it relieves the physical illness.

I had a client a few years ago-we’ll call her Sally-who, for 2 years in the recent past, had suffered from severe acid reflux due to irritable bowel disease, so bad that she was hospitalized several times. It had started happening again in the last few months. What would happen is that her stomach would start to burn and then the burning would rise up through her esophagus and throat and, every time, she would end up vomiting. It was extremely painful. This was happening a lot again lately. Doctors had tried several medications but nothing helped. They were out of ideas. Sally was open to EFT Tapping, an energy psychology.

EFT Works for Physical Pain and Illnesses

I specialize in a method called EFT-Emotional Freedom Techniques-which is extremely effective with stress, trauma, PTSD and often with physical pain and illnesses. It also works really well for phobias and fears, anxieties, allergies, addictions, weight issues, and physical and emotional after-effects of injuries and accidents.

How EFT Works

Researchers have discovered that physical pain is often the result of stress, which makes sense, because, when our nervous system is stressed or traumatized, one of the ways this manifests is physical pain. When she first came in, Sally mentioned that she was going to visit a relative we’ll call John, to whom she used to be very close. This person was her best friend and had helped her through the craziness of her family during childhood. But now John was very jealous of her for a number of reasons and so they argued a lot. Sally was angry at John and full of anxiety.

As she was talking about this, her stomach started burning!

We started EFT Tapping, focusing on the anger. The burning lessened, and she noticed that now she was aware she was sad that she couldn’t share with John and that she was actually giving up on him. This was a huge loss for her.

Sadness-the Second Underlying Emotional Pain

We did some more EFT Tapping, this time on the sense of sadness and loss around giving up on the relationship. The burning stopped!

She Had Never Been Able to Stop the Burning Once it Started

But this time, it stopped. She felt like things were shifting inside her. She cried, because she was so moved that this time, the burning didn’t get worse and worse, rise up in her throat, and make her vomit. It just stopped!

Getting to the Emotional Cause Cured Acid Reflux

At a follow-up appointment, Sally said that, every time the burning started, she was able to stop it by just beginning EFT Tapping. She didn’t even have to go through the whole sequence of tapping. After several times of tapping on her own, the burning never even started again. In a few other sessions, we worked on another physical illness, which was also cured. The acid reflux never came back.

Diabetic Coma Can Be Fatal For Diabetics

Diabetic coma blood sugar level should be avoided. Why? Because any blood sugar level over 500, but usually over 600mg, causes diabetic coma. It will likely occur when blood sugars are at this unusually high levels and the body becomes severely dehydrated as a result.

If you are 60 years old or above this should be your primary concern. When dehydrated, the elderly may have a distorted sense of thirst. Perhaps this is because they have less sensitivity to thirst that is affected due to age. In many cases, a history of excess thirst and urination may manifest in the elderly. This may happen weeks before diagnosis. Excess urination and extreme blood glucose levels lead to body cells being dehydrated. Thus, the body will become dehydrated. This severe loss of body fluids can lead to shock, coma, and death.

Another group who are particularly at risk is the chronically ill and disabled. This group on the other hand cannot sense their thirst or may be even be able to communicate. Dehydration may occur for a period but unless they are given continuous medical care, it may be manifest itself until it is too late.

Diabetic coma is also known as “hyperglycemic hyperosmolar nonketotic syndrome”. If a type II diabetic patient is ill, this is a very serious problem, perhaps even a fatal one. Fatality rates in these circumstances can reach 50%.

To be sure, there are many causes of diabetic coma, not just extremely high sugar levels. These may include:


Heart attack;

Kidney failure;

Medicines (diuretics, heart medication, or steroids);


Bleeding ulcer;

Blood clot; and

Uncontrolled blood sugar

If you are a diabetic, and you monitored extremely high blood glucose levels, there are greater chances that you can have diabetic coma, more so if it is complicated by one or more of the above causes. Unfortunately, the other causes listed above are also common among diabetic patients. It is therefore extremely important that you constantly monitor your blood sugar levels.

Diabetic coma symptoms may be manifested earlier than the diagnosis, perhaps weeks prior to the diagnosis. If you are in the vulnerable group, (e.g. diabetic, 60 years old or over, disabled) you should be very vigilant of the following symptoms:

Increased thirst;

Increased urination;



Altered mental state;



Inability to speak; and


If any of the symptoms manifest in your situation, you should test your blood glucose. Then, depending on the results of the test, you should immediately consult your doctor. More so if your test reveals blood sugar level of 600 mg/dl or more.

Now, how do you prevent diabetic coma? The following are simple suggestions:

Check your blood sugar regularly;

Check your blood sugar every four hours when you are sick;

Take special care of yourself when you are sick; and

Eat and live healthy.

The Signs of Heartburn

You may recognize the signs of heartburn, but sometimes it is hard to recognize what caused the heartburn. The first thing you may think is “what did I eat?” In some cases, it may not be food causing heartburns and/or indigestion. It may be beverages or stress. It may not be what you eat, but how much you eat. While spicy foods may bring on signs of heartburn. It may be hard to avoid eating spicy food, causing heartburns and indigestion.

Typical signs of heartburn include a burning sensation in the back of the throat. The burning may be lower, closer to the top of the stomach. It may start as a feeling of being overly full. A warm feeling in the stomach may accompany a tickle in the throat. Some people only feel the tickle and the tickle may lead to coughing. You may or may not feel bloated. The burning sensation may be accompanied by burping or passing gas. Any of these may be signs of heartburn or indigestion.

Once you notice the signs of heartburn, identifying the food causing heartburns may be the last thing on your mind. Typically, you just want relief, but it could be important to help prevent future attacks to at least make a mental note of what you ate or drank in the past hour or so. Some people are bothered by nighttime heartburn. Sometimes the signs of heartburn do not wake the person up, but acid and gas in the esophagus can interfere with respiration and lead to breathing difficulties, even bringing on asthma attacks. There are specially designed foam wedges for those who experience the signs of heartburn at night. By sleeping in a reclining, rather than a prone position, stomach acid is less likely to leak up into the esophagus. People who eat late meals or go to bed soon after dinner are more likely to experience signs of heartburn while sleeping or trying to sleep. Anything that increases stomach acid can increase the symptoms and signs of heartburn.

The innocent tomato is a food causing heartburns in many people. Tomatoes are highly acidic food. Eating one with your dinner salad may not cause a problem, depending on the other vegetables and the type of dressing used. If you can achieve a balance of foods that are less acidic with foods that are more acidic, then you may be able to prevent the signs of heartburn. Another food causing heartburns is oranges. Oranges and other citrus fruits are highly acidic. So adding mandarin orange slices to your dinner salad may seem healthy, but can increase likelihood that you will experience signs of heartburn. On the other hand, baked or grilled chicken is typically not a food causing heartburns. So, use the tomatoes, lettuce, skip the oranges and onions and add warm grilled chicken strips to your salad. Choose to use little or no dressing, oil and vinegar are both highly acidic, try just some salt and pepper and maybe a little ginger. Gingerroot is commonly used in natural products to relieve the symptoms and signs of heartburn.

Lower Blood Pressure At Any Cost? – 5 Hypertension Myths

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, affects at least one in three adults in North America and many other developed countries. Even more alarmingly, it is afflicting an increasing number of young people, some as young as 12 years old. So it’s not surprising that hypertension medications are among the 10 most frequently prescribed drugs.

With an issue of such importance, it’s critical to get the facts right and to keep things in perspective. Unfortunately, a number of myths have developed around hypertension. Here are five of the most common and potentially damaging misconceptions:

Myth 1: High blood pressure increases your risk of heart attack and stroke.

Not necessarily. There is no direct connection between high blood pressure and heart problems. In a recent article for the Virginia Hopkins Health Watch, John R. Lee, M.D. writes: “heart problems (due to high blood pressure) are not correlated with any specific or absolute blood pressure reading; it is correlated with an observed rise in blood pressure from whatever the earlier blood pressure was”. (italics mine)

In other words, if your blood pressure is normally around 120/80 and rises to 140/90 your risk of heart problems is about the same as that of someone whose blood pressure increases from 140/90 to 160/90. It also means that if your blood pressure is a steady 160/90 and shows no sign of rising, it is not a sign of impending heart disease without other risk factors involved.

Myth 2: “Normal”, healthy blood pressure is in the range of 120/70. Pressure above 130/80 is either high blood pressure or “pre-hypertension”.

What is normal? For a long time the medical standard for high blood pressure was considered 140/90 and this was further moderated by age. But suddenly the standard was changed. Now some doctors call even 130/80 “high blood pressure” and many others consider it “pre-hypertension”. New medications to treat “pre-hypertension” are even underway!

The fact is that blood pressure varies widely among healthy people and usually increases with age. Many things can increase blood pressure including over-the-counter and prescription medications, stress and over-indulgence in alcohol.

Add to this the fact that blood pressure varies, sometimes significantly, at different times of the day. Then there’s the notorious white-coat syndrome whereby the stress of a doctor’s visit shows up as high blood pressure while readings taken relaxing at home can be “normal”.

These examples all go to show that just getting an accurate reading can be difficult enough, let alone setting normal and abnormal levels for a wide range of different people.

Myth 3. If you are hypertensive you must severely restrict or eliminate salt (or sodium) from your diet.

Not true. Salt is unfairly blamed for causing high blood pressure. Salt, or sodium, is not the culprit. It’s an imbalance of sodium, magnesium and potassium in our diet that knocks our blood chemistry out of kilter and thus contributes to hypertension.

The problem is that many processed and junk foods are high in salt but deficient in magnesium and potassium. This is compounded when you add table salt to your already salty bacon at breakfast.

But the answer is not to become paranoid about salt but to eat whole, natural foods (and you can even take that with a grain of salt!). Grains, vegetables, fruit, meat and fish in their natural state contain more balanced amounts of sodium, magnesium and potassium. Simply eating a healthy diet of whole foods can have a dramatic effect on blood pressure. Hypertension is almost unknown among the few remaining peoples that still eat in this way.

Myth 4. Taking blood pressure medications is better than the alternative.

Only in a minority of cases and as a last resort!

It’s no surprise when you hear natural health gurus claim that drugs are worse than the disease. But you really take notice when it’s a medical doctor saying it! That’s exactly the case when Dr. Lee writes in the same article quoted above: “I don’t like anti-hypertensive drugs because their side effects are often worse than the high blood pressure they’re prescribed to treat.” (his bolding) He goes on to say: “conventional physicians tend to prescribe anti-hypertension drugs any time blood pressure readings fall outside of so-called normal ranges. This is unjustified, and probably does more harm than good in the long run”.

All categories of blood pressure drugs have side effects and these have been minimized by doctors and the pharmaceutical industry. For example, some hypertension medications can contribute to ischemia whereby tissues are damaged due to insufficient blood supply. Others cause erectile dysfunction. Still others can result in low blood pressure, which has implications just as serious as high blood pressure. These are only some of the potential dangers of blood pressure medication. Myth 5. Lifestyle changes are not usually enough to reverse high blood pressure. Therefore, prompt drug intervention is advisable.

Exactly the opposite is true. The best way to maintain healthy blood pressure is always through lifestyle, including diet and exercise. If you are seriously overweight or out of shape, if you smoke or over-drink, or if you’re under severe stress, a positive change in these factors is bound to have a dramatic effect on your blood pressure, regardless of how high it is.

The problem is that many doctors have come to believe that their patients are unlikely to make the changes needed. This is one of the reasons they over-prescribe medications or intervene too quickly. It’s almost become a preventive measure for them. But the fact is that most people will make the effort to improve their lifestyles if given the right support (and especially if given accurate information about the side effects and dangers of hypertension drugs!).

In the rare case in which your blood pressure fails to respond to lifestyle improvements it’s time to look beyond the usual suspects such as weight and diet. There are several other areas that are rarely examined but which can wreak havok on your blood pressure. For example, are you suffering from hidden stress? Some people have been chronically stressed for so long they don’t even recognize it any longer. It’s become their “natural” state.

What about your breathing? Yes, your breathing! Often together with high stress, people develop what some experts are calling “inhibitory breathing”. It constricts blood vessels by increasing muscle tension and may also unbalance blood chemistry. A new technique called slow breathing with music can do wonders to lower blood pressure through breathing.

It just goes to show that there’s more to lifestyle than you may think. If you are frustrated that your changes are not making a difference you may need to dig deeper.


1. High blood pressure is a serious condition that demands attention but there’s no need to panic, especially if otherwise healthy. A significant and sustained rise in your blood pressure is of much greater concern than the actual numbers themselves.

2. There is a wide range of healthy blood pressure. Watch out for white-coat syndrome and determine your normal blood pressure in a relaxed state. Then watch out for sustained increases from this level.

3. It’s not about salt. There are no “evil” or “miracle” foods! Eat a balanced and varied diet of whole, natural foods. A modest magnesium supplement of 300 to 400 mg might not be a bad idea either.

4. If you are healthy and have no other risk factors, take medications only as a last resort. Give lifestyle at least a six-month chance. Don’t ignore medical advice but if your doctor is too rigid seek a second opinion.

5. Healthy blood pressure is maintained through lifestyle. If your blood pressure is a problem then something is almost certainly out of whack. Look deeper if you don’t find an obvious answer.

The efficiency of the heart is increased by using medicines like Laxmi-Vilas-Ras, Maha-Laxmi-Vilas-Ras, Makar-Dhwaj- Ras, Shrung-Bhasma, Bruhat-Vat-Chintamani and Abhrak-Bhasma. Coronary artery disease, leading to a reduced blood supply to the heart muscles, can be corrected by using medicines like Arogya-Vardhini, Triphala-Guggulu, Medohar-Guggulu and Chandraprabha-Vati. Weak heart muscles can be strengthened using medicines like Trayodashang-Guggulu, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut-Guggulu, Arjun (Terminalia arjuna), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Draksha (Vitis vinifera), Nimba (Azadirachta indica), Patol (Tricosanthe dioica), Patha (Cissampelos pareira), Musta (Cyperus rotundus), Kutaj (Holarrhina antidysentrica), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) and Naagbala (Grewia hirsuta). Disorders of the valves of the heart can be partially corrected using medicines like Laxadi-Guggulu, Sinhanaad-Guggulu, Dashmoolarishta and Arjunarishta.

It is very important to control high blood pressure, since this puts a continuous strain on the heart muscles. Medicines like Sarpagandha (Raulwofia serpentina), Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi), Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Dhamasa (Fagonia cretica) and Sutshekhar-Ras can be used for this purpose. Alcohol abuse can make the heart muscles weak, and also cause destruction in the liver, thereby resulting in CCF. This can be treated using medicines like Arogya-Vardhini, Shankh-Vati, Bhunimbadi-Qadha, Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa) and Sharpunkha (Tephrosia purpurea). The load on the heart can be reduced using medicines like Punarnavadi-Qadha, Gokshuradi-Qadha, Yav-Kshar, Apamarga (Achyranthus aspera) and Ikshumool (Saceharum officinarum).

A judicious combination of Ayurvedic medicines can thus be used to control CCF and improve the overall survival of patients affected with this condition. It is important to adopt adequate lifestyle modifications for this disease. Daily salt and fluid intake needs to be restricted. Regular exercise in moderation is beneficial for CCF. A complete abstinence from alcohol and smoking is important to avoid further damage to the heart. Stress needs to be minimized by adopting suitable relaxation techniques.
