Dry Penis Skin Relief – The Powerful Effects of Shea Butter

The skin is the largest human organ, serving as a protective barrier between the outside world and the delicate tissue inside. Taking care of one’s skin is important to the body’s overall health. Establishing a daily routine of washing with gentle soap, applying lotion and protecting the skin from the harsh elements of nature can help keep skin supple and youthful. To keep skin healthy, sunscreen should be applied in the summer to protect from harmful UV rays, and protective clothing should be worn in the winter to fend off the icy blasts of old man winter.

Though many men may remember to use lotion on their hands, neck and face, few men think to use it on their penis. The fact of the matter is that using lotions and crèmes, especially those enriched with fat extract, helps to rejuvenate listless penile skin and adds to overall penis health. Dry, cracked penis skin can lead to uncomfortable irritation of the area, embarrassing itching or even a red rash-like appearance.

What is shea butter?

Derived from the nut of the African shea tree, or karité, shea butter is a fat complex often used in luxurious moisturizers, salves, lotions and cosmetic products. It is a natural ingredient that is edible and often used as a cooking oil in food preparation in Africa. There are many topical uses for shea butter, including for medicinal purposes. It is found to have anti-inflammatory, emollient, and moisturizing properties, making it a superstar in terms of skin health.

When to use shea butter

1) Dry Skin. Many men suffer from dry skin – also known as xerosis or asteatosis – particularly in the winter months. Symptoms include dry, cracked skin, which may flake off in a most unappealing way. Other unpleasant side effects that are associated with the condition include redness, itchiness, painful cracking of the skin and even bleeding in extreme cases. It can drastically help reduce such symptoms and provide relief for dry skin — yes, even down there — making it an excellent option to reach for, particularly in the winter months when dryer indoor air and cold, windy conditions sap the natural moisture from the skin.

2) Chronic Conditions. Individuals who suffer from a chronic skin ailment such as psoriasis, dermatitis or eczema may experience relief when using products containing shea butter, as a common side effect of such skin issues is itchiness. Though it alone is not intended to replace treatments recommended by a dermatologist for such conditions, the rich moisturizing properties may sooth dryness and irritation, making the condition more manageable and comfortable for the patient.

3) Everyday Health. Shea butter is gentle enough to be used everyday, yet rich enough to help keep skin smooth and elastic. Many people use products with shea butter as part of their everyday routine. A good way to aid in absorption is to liberally apply the product to the entire body after getting out of the shower; simply pat the skin dry and apply the lotion immediately. Using lotion on damp skin helps to lock in the moisture from the shower.

4) Nurturing penis health. Shea butter is just as beneficial when used on the skin of the penis as it is on the rest of the body. Using it with a combination of other vitamins and minerals will lead to an even greater effect and contribute to the overall health of the penis. A penis vitamin cream (most health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) that contains essential vitamins and nutrients, including shea butter, is the perfect addition to the daily grooming routine of any man. When used daily, these vital ingredients will help the penis to remain moisturized and healthy.

Knee Pain Controlled Using a Wheat Bag to Provide Heat Therapy

Sometime during their lifetime, nearly all people will feel knee pain. The causes of knee pain are numerous, some are: arthritis, injured ligaments, meniscal tears, patellar tendonitis, and dislocated kneecaps. Sometimes an injured knee can be fixed with an operation; but there are some that need physical therapy plus a lot of time to heal. Other ailments, like an arthritic knee, can actually cause simple activities like going for a walk to be painful. Thermotherapy, or heat therapy using a wheat bag is one of the most beneficial treatments in alleviating knee pain, whatever the symptoms.

A wheat bag has been shown to help knee pain considerably. Heat therapy opens up the blood vessels, and as a result more oxygen is supplied to the body which helps repair damaged tissues. This improvement in blood circulation through the knee will provide additional oxygen, protein and nutrients which will help promote healing. Using a heated wheat bag offers relief from the pain when the skin’s pain sensors are stimulated. Heat actually lessens the intensity and number of pain signals sent to the brain.

Heat therapy helps with knee pain by relaxing and loosening the tissue around the knee. Muscles, tendons, as well as the ligaments are free to move, so this decreases the risk of additional injury. Heat therapy is a good treatment also for decreasing stiffness and increasing limberness for sufferers with arthritis.

Using a wheat bag provides the most benefit during the first fifteen minutes that it is applied, most physicians and physical therapist recommend this. Heat therapy is also advised before exercise as well as additional activities that could result in pain. Heat applied following exercise is a good remedy to avoid pain and hurting, also. Swelling is usually one of the symptoms of an injured knee and heat therapy works very well to decrease the inflammation.

Heat therapy is different from ice therapy because it is not restricted to just the initial 48 hours following an injury. The hotness from the heat can be applied anytime when pain is experienced, someone feels stiff, has decreased flexibility, or inflammation. Using a microwave heated wheat bag at the beginning of the day, can reduce arthritis pain measurably, so a person can make it through the day.

Many options are available for heat therapy, but many of these options are complicated to apply, making it difficult to keep the heat applied directly and correctly. A wheat bag for microwave use is a nice substitute for some items, since it conforms itself to shape of the area that is affected. The heat pack provides this extra flexibility to wrap around the area of pain.

Millions of people deal with knee pain, from a minor pain to a debilitating pain. Heat therapy using a wheat bag or heat pack is able to bring relief for the discomfort, swelling, stiffness and loss of flexibility. Keep in mind that, when you apply heat therapy, it is most effective during those first fifteen minutes. Also, using heat before a physical workout or activity greatly decreases the risk of additional injury.

Autoimmune Disorders – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Autoimmune disorders are diseases in which the immune system of the body attacks normal healthy tissue and produces different symptoms of diseases. Nearly 160 diseases are listed as autoimmune disorders; common ones include rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, psoriasis, alopecia areata, SLE, thyroiditis, Addison’s disease, pernicious anaemia, celiac disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Guillain Barre Syndrome.

A genetic predisposition is usually required for the commencement of autoimmune disorders, along with environmental triggers such as infections (bacteria, virus), food allergies, toxins (drugs, smoking, hair dyes, and chemicals) and physical trauma. Common symptoms include joint and muscle pain, general muscle weakness, rashes, low-grade fever, lack of concentration, weight loss, numbness and tingling, dry eyes, hair loss, breathlessness, and palpitations. The hallmark of autoimmune disorders is inflammation, which can affect the heart, brain, lungs, nerves, muscles, skin, eyes, joints, kidneys, glands (thyroid, pancreas etc.) and produce symptoms according to the organ and tissue affected.

The modern system of treatment of autoimmune diseases is by suppressing the immunity with the use of steroids or non steroid medicines such as cyclophosphamide, and vaccines where possible. This treatment can give good results on a short-term basis but it does not cure the autoimmune disease and can result in serious side effects later on. Ayurvedic treatment scores positively in this aspects because it brings about immunomodulation so that the body defence system can gradually take over and help cure the disease completely. This may possibly take more time; immuno-suppressants can bring about improvement of symptoms within a few weeks to a few months, while Ayurvedic treatment may be required from a few months to a few years, depending upon the severity and complexity of the disease.

As mentioned earlier, inflammation is the hallmark of all autoimmune diseases. Steroids can treat inflammation very well; however, the long-term side effects of steroids can be as serious – or probably more serious – than the disease itself. Ayurvedic herbal medicines can significantly reduce pain and inflammation in chronic rheumatoid arthritis. Itching and recurrence of psoriasis can be treated very well with Ayurvedic treatment. Herbs can effectively treat inflammation of glands such as that occurs in thyroiditis, or inflammation and destruction of arteries, nerves, mucosa, muscles, connective tissue and skin such as that occurring in SLE, celiac disease, scleroderma, multiple sclerosis, Guillain Barre Syndrome etc.

While steroids and immunosuppressants are common therapy for all autoimmune disorders, the Ayurvedic treatment for each autoimmune disease varies considerably according to the body organs or systems affected. Medical protocol for treatment will also vary considerably according to the severity of symptoms, as well as the treatment response of affected individuals. Most medicines which act on the ‘Rakta’, ‘Mansa’, ‘Med’, and ‘Majja’ tissues are effective in the treatment of autoimmune disorders. These include herbs like Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa), and Patol (Tricosanthe dioica). Immunomodulating herbs are also quite important for treating autoimmune diseases and include Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Bala (Sida cordifolia), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and Amalaki (Emblica officinalis).

Most affected individuals on immuno-suppressants experience a relapse or flare-up after about 5 to 6 months of therapy. Ayurvedic treatment may bring about improvement within 4 to 6 months; however the slow improvement is worth it since the patient start going into a full remission and the disease can be completely controlled with regular therapy of 12 to 24 months. After this, medicines can be gradually tapered and stopped completely. Further treatment can be given as short courses as and when – or if – required. Ayurvedic treatment can thus be utilized successfully to provide a comprehensive treatment for most of the common autoimmune disorders.

How to Get Rid of and Prevent Hair Follicle Infection: Folliculitis

Folliculitis is a painful inflammation or infection of the hair producing follicles in the skin. The symptoms include redness and itching. Boils or carbuncles may form if the infection does not clear up quickly. The cause is usually a staph infection, but there are other causes. Also you will learn How to Get Rid of and Prevent Hair Follicle Infection.

Causes of Folliculitis

The fungus that causes athlete’s foot can infect the follicles. This is usually seen on shaved areas and is sometimes referred to as “barber’s itch”.

Bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa can live in hot tubs if they are not properly cleaned. The follicles of the legs, hips and buttocks can become infected with the bacteria, especially if clothing is worn while bathing. The clothing traps the bacteria against the skin.

Ingrown hairs can cause the inflammation. This occurs most often in people with curly hair. The hairs curl inward, causing irritation and inflammation. Antibiotics such as those used to treat acne can cause an imbalance in the natural skin flora, leading to infection. The herpes simplex virus can also infect the follicles. Exposure to petroleum based oils at work can cause the problem. Makeup and other skincare products containing petrolatum or mineral oil may be to blame for the condition.

Treatments for Folliculitis

Doctors sometimes prescribe antibiotics, but if the cause is not bacterial, the drugs can actually make the problem worse. For example, if the infection is caused by a fungus, bacteria actually help to keep the fungus under control. By killing the bacteria, the antibiotics allow the fungus to grow and thrive.

It can be difficult to determine what has caused the infection. So, the best treatment is a topical lotion. I recommend an Active Body lotion for the treatment and prevention of folliculitis.

Why an Active Body Lotion Will Work

The lotion will only work if it contains the right ingredients. If it contains the wrong ingredients, (mineral oil for example) it will make the problem worse. A good brand contains no petroleum-based oils. Nor does it contain ingredients that could clog the follicles or trap pathogens in the pores.

It does contain active manuka honey, Functional Keratin, jojoba oil and grape seed oil.

What are the Benefits of Those Ingredients?

Active manuka honey has natural antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant activity. It supports the strength of your immune system, making it easier for you to fight off infections.

The benefits: Your folliculitis will heal faster. By using the body lotion every day, you will have fewer infections in the future.

Functional Keratin has natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. It moisturizes without causing greasiness.

The benefits: Your symptoms will improve quickly. You will have less redness, pain and itching. Jojoba oil softens and soothes skin. It is used to fade stretch marks and scars.

The benefits: You have a reduced risk of scarring.

Grape seed oil improves circulation and promotes healing. It dries to an invisible lightweight film that helps protect the follicles from future damage.

The benefits: The condition will heal even faster and your risk of future folliculitis in the future is even further reduced.

Natural Home Remedies to Allergy Rash, Itching, and Scratching at Night

The baby was crying all night long. It had that awful allergic rash on its skin that was itching constantly, so the child tried to scratch it. Only in the morning did the parents find out that the child scratched itself to blood. They were too tired during the night to notice, and too preoccupied with soothing the child’s pain. In the morning the child fell asleep, but the parents could not sleep any longer. The mother had to take care of the older children, prepare them for school, and the father had to drive the kids to school and go to work. When the children came to the kitchen and saw the parents, they were terrified. Their parents looked and moved like zombies.

Sounds familiar? Did that happen to you? Did you try to do everything to help your baby fall asleep, and get some sleep yourself? If yes, read on. There are a few simple ways to soothe the baby’s itching and to prevent your kid from scratching themselves to blood.

The rash on your kid’s skin can be a symptom of food allergy or other allergy caused by, for example, the washing powder you use, the soap or the shampoo, presence of pets, dust or dust mite, and many other allergens. In that case you will have to find the cause, but before you do let’s look how to reduce the itching effect of the symptoms.

One of the best way to relieve someone from itching is the starch bath. In order to prepare starch bath, you’ll need:

1 tablespoon of starch (potato starch and rice starch are the best)

2-3 teaspoons of cold water

1/2 l (ca. 1 pint) boiling water.

First mix the starch with cold water. Then pour it onto the boiling water and mix well. Boil for a while until thick.

Pour the mixture into the bathtub and add water to reach the temperature of 37 degrees C/99 degrees F.

Bathe your baby for around 15 minutes WITHOUT any other cosmetics.

Helps very often.

The next thing to remember is that itching can be triggered and increased by inappropriate clothing. Pajamas or night gowns can be too hard thus irritating the child’s skin. You must take special care to dress your baby in soft, natural cotton clothes which not only do not irritate skin, but also help it breathe. The same concerns bed clothing. The sheets must be as soft as possible, therefore natural cotton seems the best solution again.

Finally, we have to protect the child from scratching during sleep. Children and adults alike scratch the itching places without waking up very often, and they can hurt themselves this way. The simplest way to protect your child from scratching their body is to put mittens made of soft material on their hands. This way, even if they scratch, they won’t harm themselves.

These are of course basic things, but believe me, they can save you many sleepless nights if you just apply them.

Prostate Health Part 7 – How to Prevent and Treat Enlarged Prostate With Homeopathic Remedies

We know that starting at age 40, the levels of the by-product prolactin of testosterone of men increases, stimulating the production of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase that causes the conversion of testosterone to gihydro-testosterones DHT triggering prostate enlargement and other problems. Therefore in order to prevent the symptoms of enlarged prostate is to naturally impend the conversion of testosterone to DHT. In this article, we will discuss some homeopathic remedies (homeopathic remedies are prescribed on the principal that ‘like cures like’) used in preventing and treating enlarged prostate and prostate cancer.

Chimpaphilia acts principally on kidneys, and genito-urinary tract; affects also lymphatic and mesenteric glands. It helps in treating urge to urinate with burn pain, strain to urinate and prostate enlargement and irritation.

2.Conium maculatum

Conium maculatum is an excellent remedy for old age people. It helps to improve prostate enlargement, difficult urination, weakened urine flow and soften the prostate and enhance sexuality.

3. Hepar sulphuris calcareum

Hepar sulphuris calcareum is a mixture powder of oyster shells and pure flower of sulfur. You can purchase in mixture in a health food store and follow the instructions to make your own. Hepar sulphuris calcareum has proven record in treating dribbling urine and poor flow.

4. Sabal serrulata

Sabal serrulata is homeopathic to irritability of the genito-urinary organs. It is helpful in treating difficult urination caused by enlarged prostate, constant desire to urinate, as well as sexual inability.

5. Staphysagria

Staphysagria is helpful in treating diseases of the genito-urinary tract such as the urge to urinate, inability to urinate fully and feeling of bladder not being empty.

6. Thuja

The main action of thuja is on the genito-urinary organs. It is helpful in treating enlarged prostate, sudden desire to urinate and split urinary stream.

Suicide, Depression and Magnesium Deficiency

Most approaches to the problem of “Suicidal Thoughts” center around counseling, followed by drug treatment. I do not believe that either path would have much significant effect in the outcome. The counseling approach will no doubt work in some instances, but the actual reality in a large number of cases is this approach does not work. People who consider suicide do so because they wish to escape from the way they feel or the pain they are feeling. Reassuring words are not suddenly going to make everything right, they need help, tangible help, not words that help the speaker far more than the person with the problem.

This comforting talk will only delay the inevitable, it will not deter the person who is determined to follow the path to self destruction. There has to be a better way, and I believe that there is a better way. It is not through counseling and certainly not through the poisons that will be prescribed by the medical profession. Drugs such as “Prozac” do have some potentially nasty side effects. Listen to this line from the manufacturer of Prozac, then decide if you would agree to your depressed child being prescribed this poison: “Side effects of Prozac are minor and either does not require medical attention or can be treated easily. However, if you develop any serious problems, such as suicidal thoughts or behavior, hallucinations, or panic attacks, notify your healthcare provider immediately”. Another one: “Antidepressent medicines may increase suicidal thoughts or actions in some children, teenagers and young adults in the first few months of treatment”, the first few months? That is when they need the most help!, not some antagonist drug that may well push them over the line.

Even before Prozac was first approved in the USA in December 1987, there were more than 15 suicides linked to it. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) knew this but failed to do anything about it.

What nonsense is this?, you go to a so called “health care professional” to get help for your child with a mental disorder and this “professional” prescribes this poison. The medicine which is supposed to help, is only going to aggravate the problem further, much better off doing nothing. I also bet this doctor fails to warn you of these likely unwanted possible side-effects of his poison, that is of course if he knows anything about them, which I doubt. Your family doctor is notorious for not keeping up with the latest medical developments.

Now have a read of this nonsense: Primary care doctors (your family doctor) played a major role in turning antidepressants like Prozac into top sellers. In fact, they treated more patients with mental problems than the Psychiatrists. They have taken it onto themselves to prescribe dangerous drugs for conditions, they know little about.

Welcome in Magnesium (mg). It seems most of our highly educated medical professionals do not have much knowledge about this one, probably because it makes no money for the “Drug Cartels” who support them.

In 1934, the Bulletin of the Academy of Medicine in France stated “The use of magnesium permits one to support adversity with more serenity,”

Now, magnesium deficiency is a leading cause of depression. Major depression is a mental disorder distinguished by: despondency, pessimism, sadness, inadequacy (low self worth), guilt, shame, anger, emptiness and lack of interest in life in general.

Small Problems Become Large Problems

Experimental studies show that when one is low on magnesium, small problems become large, overpowering. People deprived of magnesium suffer from super excitability, they become hysterical at the sound of small noises or even at the sight of shadows.

It is hard to believe that a lack in our diets of the mineral magnesium could be linked to the increasing suicide rates, but the evidence is there.

Magnesium Deficiency symptoms: Magnesium deficiency causes increased levels of adrenaline, which can lead to a feeling of anxiety. Magnesium abnormalities can cause mental illness. The authors of a study in England believe that the patients who seemed most disturbed may have some abnormality of magnesium metabolism.

Some Common Magnesium Deficiency Symptoms:

* Hypertension

* Cardiovascular disease

* Some forms of cancer

* Compromised immune system

(with secondary problems as a result)

* Erectile dysfunction

* Diabetes

* Vitamin K deficiency

* Migraine

* Depression

* Asthma

* Insomnia

* Osteoporosis (brittle bones)

* Certain form of allergy

* Increased sensitivity to stress

* Involuntary muscle twitches

Some reasons for Magnesium deficiency:

1 – Lack of magnesium in the diet

2 – Strenuous exercise without replenishing the minerals

3 – Poor absorption: Low hydrochloric acid in the stomach

4 – Stress depletes the body of minerals and especially magnesium.

5 – Refined carbohydrates, alcohol and coffee deplete magnesium.

You can help by simply rebuilding the levels of a mineral that has long been leached from all our bodies by our bad western diet – MAGNESIUM.

Every food that was originally rich in magnesium has been bleached, leached and purified to such an extent that there is none on the original minerals such as magnesium left.

So, what can we gather from all this? There is some cause that our supposedly clever medical gurus are missing and that something could very well be magnesium. So what do you do?

Magnesium and Depression/suicide:

It has been stated that: a deficiency, even when mild, increases susceptibility to various types of neurological and psychological stressors in healthy human subjects. Reverse this deficiency and you neutralize this stress sensitivity, the bottom line? Magnesium reduces stress and stress may very well be the root cause of the suicide problem. Feelings of distress can be reduced with mg, reduce the distress felt and the perception of that person will also alter, they may no longer contemplate suicide as the only solution. For your own benefit, and that of your loved ones, you must become aware of magnesium.

Monophobia: Where to Get Help

There are few phobias that have a bigger impact on your life than monophobia. Imagine all of the things that you can’t do if you are afraid of being alone. It is therefore important to make sure that you are able to get help if you do suffer from the condition. In order to do this you are going to have to know where to get help and what treatment options are available.

Where to look for help if you are suffering from monophobia is going to depend on how serious your problem is. There are some people who have minor cases and only panic when they are completely alone miles from anybody else. There are other people who can’t even go to the bathroom by themselves. Obviously the type of treatment that will work for these two extremes will vary pretty dramatically.

If you have a fairly mild case of monophobia the first option that you may want to try to solve the problem is with self help. There are lots of books that offer advice on how to get over the condition. In most cases this works by desensitizing yourself to being alone by actually spending time by yourself. If you cannot stand being alone at all this probably won’t work.

The next option that you have for helping deal with your monophobia is a support group. There are lots of other people who suffer from the phobia and getting together with them to discuss it can really help. A lot of people benefit from knowing that there are other people going through the same thing. You will also be able to get tips to help you deal with your fear by finding out what has worked for other people.

In the more serious cases of monophobia you will probably need to seek professional help. A therapist is where most people will start. During therapy you will look into the causes of your phobia and try to alter your thinking so that you are no longer afraid. This will take several months at a minimum but it is very effective.

In the most serious cases it will likely require a medical doctor to help you get over your fears. In extreme cases medication will be necessary so this will require that you see a doctor. At the same time you will also receive therapy so that you can eventually stop using the medication.

Dealing With Anxiety the Natural Way

At some point in our life, we deal with stresses and worries. This causes anxiety. Occasional mild anxiety is normal, if not healthy. It can help us function better and set our problem-solving skills in motion. But when it comes to a point where anxiety hampers our daily lives, then it becomes a problem. Extreme worry can cause insomnia, fear, and difficulty concentrating. When one lives in the shadow of these symptoms, eventually all activities in daily life will be disregarded, causing one to deteriorate. In some cases, the anxiety becomes so overwhelming that it can lead to a more severe form of psychological disorder. Fortunately, this problem in its early and acute stage is something that can be addressed in a natural way. Dealing with anxiety need not be a cause of anxiety itself.

Dealing with anxiety naturally has been around and well-practiced by the ancient Chinese.. The concept of Chinese medicine being used to treat various illnesses is nothing new. Because of its proven effectiveness, it has been around for centuries. Traditional Chinese medicine is founded on the belief that by addressing the flow of energy through the body, health is achieved. In dealing with anxiety, there occurs an imbalance in this flow of energy or life force. When such thing occurs, symptoms of anxiety such as restlessness, agitation, panic, nervousness, and hyperventilating occurs. The goal is to calm the turbulence in this life force to bring order to chaos. This can be done through the use of the select natural herbs found in Calm and Relaxed Formula. Once the life force is stabilized and restored to its normal flow, the anxiety disappears and the feeling of relaxation takes over.

There are two age-old formulas that has been used for centuries in providing relief from anxiety. These are the Xiao Yao San, or the Rambling Powder, and The Heavenly Emperor’s Heart Nourishing Pills. The first one’s goal is of achieving a life free from tension and agitation. The second one is used to keep calm, what is known in Chinese Medicine as “Calming the Spirit.” These 2 formulas csan be combined for the ultimate anxiety healing experience. Like all Chinese herbal remedies, herbs can be added or taken away and these formulas can be modified to fit the individual specific problem.

Dealing with anxiety through this natural means helps promote a feeling or well-being and restoration, leading to a calmer and relaxed state by the one who is suffering from the anxiety attack. It works by calming the nervous system and works to maintain a long-term relief from anxiety attacks. Unlike conventional medicine, the proper herbal formula does not produce any harmful and undesirable side effects.

The Side Effects Dilemma

In theory it’s easy to take good care of your health. Eat balanced food choices including fruits, vegetables, and grains; and if you eat meats, this means ensuring that they are lean. On top of eating right, you need to get regular exercise, proper rest, and find ways to de-stress. If your food choices leave you with nutritional deficits, take the appropriate supplements; and when your bones and muscles aren’t working soundly, visit a chiropractor to get them sorted out. It all sounds pretty easy, right? In theory yes, however so many don’t follow these simple steps in order to keep their health in check.

“I take Metformin for the diabetes caused by the Hydrochlorothiazide I take for high blood pressure which I got from the Ambien I take for insomnia caused by the Xanax I take for the anxiety that I got from the Wellbutrin I take for chronic fatigue which I got from the Lipitor I take because I have high cholesterol because a healthy diet and exercise with regular chiropractic care and superior nutritional supplements are just too much trouble!”

And then one day out of the blue, up pops health issue number one. Since it’s easier, and because they truly can’t be bothered to eat right and increase exercise etc, many will look to medication to deal with an issue such as – high blood cholesterol, for example. High blood cholesterol is simple to correct with a healthy diet, or even with a reasonably healthy diet coupled with holistic supplements. However, if healthier ways aren’t adopted, medications may be administered to remedy such health issues.

The medicines we take may lead to further health problems. We call such issues ‘side effects’; but when they go beyond mild, they can in fact become health issues as large, or even larger than the one you initially took the medication to combat. So if you don’t take the necessary basic steps to rectify your health, what happens when the side effects of your medication begin to loom large? Will you perhaps take other medications to fix the health issues it causes?

The aforementioned statement sounds crazy – absolutely insane as a matter of fact. But imagine this – it happens all the time, simply because we are so deeply immersed in everyday life, that we don’t stop long enough to think and to comprehend the bigger picture of our overall health. In other words, if such a scenario were to emerge, most would remain unaware of the fact that it was happening.

It’s relatively simple to put an end to this vicious cycle. Stop right now to think up a newer, healthier grocery list. Then go out and shop for those items. Eat healthier from what you buy. Exercise, take steps to release stress and tension. After you have converted to your newer, healthier way of living, do an assessment to determine any dietary shortcomings and take the necessary supplements to create balance within your new regimen.

SIMPLE, yes, in theory it is! The only thing possibly standing in your way is you. Open your mind today in order to create the newer, healthier lifestyle that YOU deserve.

Uneven Skin Tone May Be Sign Of A More Serious Skin Disease

Skin discoloration should not be a cause for alarm. More often than not, having uneven skin tone or color is caused by factors like over exposure to sunlight, allergic reaction, or the normal processes of aging. However, there are cases where the appearance of patches or discoloration on any area of your skin should prompt you to see your doctor or consult with dermatologists. Among the most notorious skin discolorations are the symptoms brought by tinea versicolor and vitiligo.

Tinea Versicolor

This is a skin infection which can heavily affect areas like your stomach, shoulders, and chest among other parts of your body. Even so, this skin disease is considered a fairly common condition. It mainly affects people who are living in places that are warm and with high levels of humidity, particularly young adults and those who are in their adolescent years.

Tinea versicolor causes the affected skin areas to become lighter, or sometimes darker, than one’s normal skin color. This skin condition is brought about by a superficial form of yeast infection and can be easily cured. In this particular skin disease, dermatologists surmise that the yeasts are feeding off on the skin’s natural oil and dead skin cells which you and everybody else have in abundance. And because of this, tinea can easily spread to other parts of the body.

To fight off this skin disease you can use antifungal medicines that can be applied on your skin. Look for ointments or creams that contain selenium sulfide or ketoconazole as these are effective compounds used against skin infections. There are also oral medications that doctors can prescribe against this fungal infection.

Another infamous skin discoloration is known as vitiligo. This is a skin condition that results to loss of skin pigments which is why it is characterized by light or pale spots on the skin. The spots are irregular in shape and can definitely spread to any part of the body including your face, scalp and soles of your feet. If you have this condition, your skin will look like a camouflage outfit; only you have a mixture of normal skin color and light or pale patches.

For most of the people who have vitiligo, white skin patches begin to appear even before they reach their twenties. And the de-pigmentation usually starts in places located in the upper and lower extremities of the body. It has been observed that the white skin patches occur in a symmetrical manner between the two sides of the body’s extremities.

The causes behind this skin condition still baffles skin experts. But there is growing evidence that points to genetic traits and immune system defects as the main factors behind this disease. There are a number of medical treatment procedures applied for vitiligo which include steroidal therapy and skin grafting.

Applying steroid therapy directly to the affected areas can help bring back the color or pigment to those areas thereby reducing or eliminating the white spots. Skin grafting, on the other hand, involves surgically removing an affected area and replacing it with a healthy patch of skin. Whatever treatment you choose for vitiligo, you need to consult with your doctor and reputable skin experts.

Again, on majority of occasions, your skin discoloration is harmless. Usually, it simply means an imbalance in the amount of melanin and sebum in your skin tissues. Melanin being the substance that controls the pigmentation on your skin and sebum being responsible for allowing dead skin cells to stick to your dermis instead of shedding them, this causes discolored patches to occur.

Nobody wants uneven skin tone or discolored patches on the skin. All these problems can make you look older and can affect your self-esteem. If your skin discoloration is not caused by any harmful skin disease, you can easily remedy your problem with products like Lumnaderm. Here are some other questions I get about hands, gloves and Fitness Boxing – along with my answers. Hope it helps!

Why should Beginners protect their hands for a Boxing Workout? Boxing & MMA workouts are hot right now, so more beginners are starting. Unless they are bare knuckle street fighters in their spare time these beginners probably don’t have conditioned hands. Beginners may need to protect their hands more than Pros – who have been conditioned and know how to make a proper fist. Boxing, even for Fitness, is an impact sport. Beginners are vulnerable.

What sort of hand injuries can I get from a Fitness Boxing Workout? Over the last 16 years of teaching I’ve seen bruised and split knuckles, sprains, strains and jarred wrists – just to name a few.

What causes hand injuries during a Fitness Boxing Workout? The most common is neglecting to wrap the hands, or wearing flimsy, skinny gloves. One female Personal Trainer I know had very sore knuckles for 6 weeks, following a workout where she did not wear hand wraps.

Does poor punching technique play a role in hand injuries during Fitness Boxing Workouts? Yes.The first thing we teach beginners is to punch with their front 2 or 3 main knuckles. But this takes time. Often they will “miss hit” and strike with the fingers or thumb. Also it takes time to “mold” a strong, straight wrist.

What about Technique on the Punch Mitts? Technique on Punch Mitts, also called Focus Pads or Focus Mitts also play a role in hand injuries. For example, new mitt-holders often angle the position for the Uppercut or the Hook incorrectly and the “Boxer” hits the mitt at an awkward angle, jarring their wrist or knuckles.

Another error is “whacking back” too hard. This is when the mitt holder hits the incoming punch too hard. It’s OK to brace when catching a punch, just don’t hit back too hard. Catch it, don’t whack it.

So what equipment do I need? Hand wraps are essential and go underneath your gloves. These are like long cloth bandages. I prefer the elasticized type – about $10. Wash separately – they do run. There are also “Ezy wraps” which are simpler to put on. Boxing gloves have more padding and support than bag gloves and are worth the extra money. Women usually get 8,10 or 12 oz Gloves while men usually get for 12, 14 or 16 oz.

What about Punching Bags? Although punching bags don’t hit back they have still bruised many hands and jarred plenty of wrists. They are not as soft as they look, especially at the bottom where the fill collects. Always wear hand wraps and solid gloves. Warm up too, and be mindful of the swinging bag which can come at you fast making for an awkward target.

How do I wrap my hands? I show my students the “rule of 3.” That’s 3 times around the wrist, then 3 times around the knuckles, then 3 times around the wrist again. Then, once up around the thumb, 3 times around the knuckles again and finish on the wrist with the remaining length. Firm but not too tight. There are many different ways to wrap hands. For example, wrapping between the knuckles. A web search will reveal plenty of instructional videos.

What about MMA (mixed martial arts) style finger less gloves? These gloves may not offer as much protection as full boxing gloves, until you are used to them. Also, watch out for scraping the smaller knuckles and finger tips, which are exposed.

May you get Fighting Fit.

Rib Pain During Pregnancy

Rib pain during pregnancy can be a persistent problem, especially during the third trimester. Your rib cage may feel mildly sore or extremely tender and bruised. You may have discomfort on either side, or both sides, though it is commonly worse on the right side of the ribs. Pain occurs in and under the ribs as your uterus grows. Later in pregnancy, your abdomen becomes stretched, and your uterus stretches upward as well as outward. Your pelvis and abdomen are becoming full, and your baby is beginning to press up under your ribs and chest. This upward pressure from your baby may also make you feel short of breath. This pressure on your ribs and diaphragm may also result in shoulder pain, because there are nerves in the diaphragm which can refer pain into the shoulders.

This pain can be very sharp! It may also result in indigestion or acid reflux as your baby puts the squeeze on your stomach. Additionally, as your breast become larger, they also place pressure on your ribs. During pregnancy, your breasts may increase by one full cup size or more. The extra weight pulls your shoulders forward and down, and places strain on the upper back, neck, and often results in pain around the rib cage. As your body prepares for the delivery of your baby, your hormones are hard at work loosening your muscles and ligaments. This loosening can allow your ribs to shift and move in ways that were not natural before, causing discomfort. Your ribcage is not only loosening, but expanding as well, not only to make room for your baby, but also to help increase your breathing and lung capacity. Even though you may be feeling short of breath, your body is taking in about forty percent more air than it did before you became pregnant.

Rib pain during pregnancy can cause the greatest discomfort when you are in a sitting position. Practicing good posture is especially important. Try to make sure that you sit up straight with your shoulders back. Slouching will compress your abdomen and result in more pain. Try to wear loose clothing so that you do not add any extra pressure to your belly. Try getting a new bra. It is especially important to have a supportive bra that is not too tight. Under wire bras may put too much extra pressure on your ribs. Now may be a good time to invest in a good nursing bra. They usually offer nice support without being too tight and will be useful once your baby is born. Holding your arms up over your head can take some pressure off and provide temporary relief from rib pain by lifting the ribs away from the uterus. Practicing doorway chest stretches can also be helpful because they, too, will help rotate the shoulders up and back, which can also help lift the ribs away from the uterus.

Stretching and prenatal yoga are great for keeping your body long and loose. The less compressed you are, the less your rib cage will hurt. Breathing and relaxation exercises may also be effective. There are a variety of hands on techniques that can help to gently stretch and lift your ribs away from the uterus. Applying these techniques to your breasts, chest and abdomen, can really relieve a lot of pain and pressure from your body, though you will need a friend or partner to help you. Scheduling a visit to your massage therapist, chiropractor, or acupuncturist, may also help provide relief from rib pain during pregnancy. If you are having rib and flank pain that goes through to your back, and or burning or pain with urination, you should contact your health care provider. This could be an indication of a urinary tract infection.

Type 2 Diabetes – Is Anti-Cholesterol Surgery Helpful in Protecting Against Diabetes?

Surgery to bypass part of the ileum, a length of the small intestine, is known to have beneficial effects on cholesterol and blood fat levels. The procedure is known to cut down on heart disease. Another result of the procedure is to raise levels of a molecule called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). This molecule…

  • stimulates insulin secretion from the pancreas,
  • improves insulin sensitivity, and
  • lowers the release of sugar from the liver.

Researchers at the University of Minnesota in the United States found evidence a partial ileal bypass reduces the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. In their study, reported on in January of 2016 in the journal Surgical Obesity and Related Diseases, the scientists compared the results of individuals who had undergone a partial ileal bypass with those who had not, the control group. A total of 8 participants or 10 percent of the surgical patients, had developed Type 2 diabetes. Among the control group, 17, or 25.8 percent of the group had developed the condition. The scientists concluded that partial ileal bypass surgery can protect people from developing Type 2 diabetes for over 30 years.

The ileum lies below the stomach, duodenum, and jejunum, forming the third part of the small intestine. The small intestine’s job is to absorb nutrients and water and to make GLP-1. When part of the ileum is removed, more nutrients are exposed to the L cells, which produce GLP-1. Removal of a part of the ileum is thought to stimulate the L cells into making more GLP-1. The ileum absorbs…

  • vitamin B12,
  • calcium and
  • bile salts.

Bile salts are necessary for absorbing cholesterol. Although most cholesterol is absorbed in the duodenum and jejunum, they require bile salts for absorption. Bile salts from the ileum are absorbed into the blood. From there they travel to the upper levels of the small intestine, where they help with cholesterol absorption.

Known side effects of partial ileal bypass include…

  • diarrhea,
  • lowered calcium absorption,
  • lowered vitamin B12 absorption,
  • kidney stones.

Diarrhea resolves spontaneously. Vitamin B12 is needed to make red blood cells and, following this type of surgery, patients need to have B12 injections to prevent anemia.

In general, possible side effects of every surgical procedure include…

  • abnormal bleeding,
  • infection,
  • untoward reaction to anesthetic or antibiotics.

The procedure might be something to discuss with your doctor if you have high cholesterol or risk factors for developing Type 2 diabetes. Risk factors such as…

  • obesity,
  • a sedentary lifestyle,
  • prediabetes or high blood sugar,
  • a family history of diabetes in parents or siblings,
  • a history of gestational diabetes or giving birth to a baby weighing over 9 pounds.

Sinus Infection Symptoms – Want To Know Why Your Sinus Infection Keeps Coming Back?

Do you suffer with chronic or reoccurring sinus infections? If you do-I know how you feel. Really. I have had the same problem for as long as I can remember.

Even when I was A little kid my head hurt all the time-But I didn’t really know why until I went swimming at a friends house.

All of us kids were trying to collect quarters my friends dad was throwing into the pool for us-kind of a game. But I couldn’t play. I couldn’t dive to the bottom of the pool without a crushing pain in my forehead.

My friends dad noticed the look on my face and as he handed me a couple of quarters he said. You will never be a scuba diver kid – you have bad sinus problems.

I had already started to plan my life around my sinus symptoms! And Mom was regularly taking me to the doctor for drugs (antibiotics) and advice. But back then nobody really knew anything about sinus infections or sinusitis. The sinus (ear nose & throat) doctor told my mom I would “grow out of it” for almost 20 years!

We know a little more now so lets take a look at:

  • What are the primary causes of your sinus infection misery.
  • Why the plan of treatment (antibiotics) most folks follow will never fix the problem-I will give you a hint… You have to treat the problem.
  • Why your sinus infection and it’s symptoms keep coming back when you have probably taken enough antibiotics to kill anthrax!

Here we go!

According to the good folks over at The Mayo Clinic the primary cause of 95+ percent of all sinus infections is fungal. That’s right, fungal. You know- like yeast, mold, athletes foot, jock itch etc.

If you think about it makes perfect sense. Your sinuses stay dark, moist and warm-the perfect environment to grow mold. There is a fungus amongst us and it lives in your head! Here is what’s happening: You are carrying a fungal infection all the time and it KEEPS your inner sinus passages irritated. So-you are much more likely to get sick than folks who have healthy “fungus free” sinus passages.

Antibiotics-Why they are part of the problem:

  • Because the antibiotics are not treating the problem! The problem is the fungal infection-The other infections (the ones you keep treating with antibiotics) you keep getting are really just symptoms (or side effects) of the fungal sinus infection you live with all the time.
  • And to make matters worse, the antibiotic medication you keep taking is killing your bodies natural defense-the good bacteria. And it’s the good bacteria that keeps the bad bacteria from taking over.

Let’s summarize:

  1. You (95+ percent chance) have a fungal infection in your sinuses.
  2. The antibiotics are actually making it worse.
  3. It keeps coming back because antibiotics don’t kill fungus-they kill bacteria. Good and bad bacteria. And when you kill good bacteria-anything thats ready can jump in there and set up shop!
  4. You need to find a way to put your body back in balance so you can get off the sinus infection merry-go-round!

Here is what I recommend:

  • Find a good natural program to put your body back in a position to take care of itself by beating back the fungal infection that is the true cause of your sickness.
  • Follow that good natural program even when you feel fine-so you don’t find yourself here again.
