Top 5 Hair Loss Vitamins in 2012

Our hair reflects the overall quality of our health. Experiencing hair loss could mean something is going wrong in our body. That’s the main reason why one should consult a physician, a hair specialist, or order a microscopic hair analysis at the first signs of hair loss.

The main cause of pattern baldness is a high level of DHT in the blood. DHT attacks hair follicles and provokes thinning. The best treatment for this condition must contain a DHT blocker, in addition to nourishing ingredients to achieve two goals: stop hair loss and stimulate new hair growth.

Vitamins are important for any hair treatment system. They bring to the hair what’s missing from the patient’s alimentation. It is therefore important to take a good vitamin that targets DHT and effectively blocks it, while at the same time providing nutrients for new and existing hair to stay healthy.

Characteristics of a Good Hair Loss Vitamin

The most effective vitamin contains a combination of the following in order to nourish hair and stimulate growth: B-vitamins (biotin or vitamin-H, Folic Acid or vitamin B9, pantothenic acid or vitamin B5, etc.), minerals (iron, silica, zinc, iodine, copper, manganese, magnesium), anti-oxidants, vitamins A, E, C, proteins, and fatty acids. In addition, these three ingredients, Saw Palmetto, Zinc, and Beta-Sitosterol or phytosterol complex are keys to reducing or eliminating DHT. Make sure these ingredients are present in your vitamins. They will surely speed up your hair growth process.

Choosing one of them, and using it according to the manufacturer instructions could make a difference in the way you look.

Royal Jelly Cancer Cure: Does It Really Exist?

Royal jelly is among the natural substances used as holistic cures. It cannot be duplicated in a laboratory because of its intricate components. Humans harvest it directly from the hives in small amounts. As a result, finding fresh royal jelly paste to treat diseases like cancer is hard. Much of it is enclosed in capsules and tablets in form of powder. Debates and researches have been ongoing regarding the effect of royal jelly on cancer tumors. Does this bee product have fight suppression qualities?

Although there are no convincing experiments done so far on cancer patients, doctors have tried them on mice. Doctors usually transplant cancer cells in a rat body so that it can start to develop tumors. Then they treat it with jelly alone or in combination with other substances. Many studies have been done in this manner in countries like China where royal jelly is combined with an herb called ginseng.

Some studies show that royal jelly has been used effectively to treat leukemia. Other clinical tests have clearly demonstrated how the use of royal jelly and cisplatin( a strong chemotherapy drug) reduce the likelihood of cisplatin destroying the liver and kidneys. The role of bee’s milk in this case is to reduce lipid peroxidation. It also raises the strength of antioxidants like glutathione and superoxide dismutase in the body.

Are you a cancer patient and are undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy? If so, you are already aware of the side effects of these two therapies. Like most sufferers, you feel very tired and nauseated after treatments. In addition, you probably have skin burns, mouth ulceration and hair loss now. Above all, perhaps you are feeling too worried because of the unknown consequences of having cancer. You are not alone in all this.

There are countless men, women and children who feel totally worn-out after cancer treatments. According to Professor Fang Zhu, of the Lianyugang Apitherapy Hospital, in China, jelly alleviates effects of radio and chemo therapies. Fang Zhu believes that this bee product boosts the immunity of a cancer patient. Among the components of bee’s milk that make it important to cancer patients is hydroxyl-decanoic acid. This is a fatty acid that is only found in this bee substance.

It has been used successfully to inhibit malignant leukemia cells in mice. When royal jelly and Ginseng are used together to fight cancer, patients show an incredible improvement because of the zinc mineral found in Ginseng. Other anti-cancer agents in this bee’s milk include vitamins E and C. They have antioxidants that are known to be very essential to the human immune system.

Saying that royal jelly contains cancer fighting elements is one thing while ascertaining the quantity of elements needed to cure cancer is another. One way to find out how cancer patients feel about this bee substance is to browse the internet. There are patients who have reviewed the supplements they have used to alleviate their cancer discomfort. Reading their reviews and testimonials might give you the confidence you need to try royal jelly cancer supplements.

How to Write An Autobiography That Will Sell

I lecture about writing to non-writers – hypnotists, numerologists, psychics, housewives, businessmen and women and people who often tell me that I should write about them because “they have had very interesting lives.” I start my talks with a question. The first question I always ask is, “Who wants to write their autobiography?” About three-quarters of all audiences raise their hands. My next question is, “Can you tell me who will buy your autobiography?” Generally, most of the hands go down, the audience looks uncomfortable and shoulders begin to shrug. That second question is the first question you should ask when considering writing in the area of (auto) biography.

People who get to write autobiographies, or have others write their biographies for them, are men and women who have done something really special in their lives. They were famous movie stars. They were national or international politicians. They were presidents and first ladies. They were incredible fashion designers. They built great dams and bridges. They were successful generals.

Even reaching a high status does not guarantee a biography. William Henry Harrison was only president for 31 days. He did nothing more as president than catch pneumonia at his inauguration and die. So even being president does not guarantee a biography. There are a kazillion generals in history but most of us can count the few we ever heard about without running out of digits. If you want to test that theory Google “Civil War Generals” and see how many there were and how many names you recognize. Even Custer probably would have been an ‘also served’ had he not had a last stand.

The first rule of (auto) biography is, “An (auto) biography is not about a person, it is about what a person did.” If Audrey Hepburn had been a housewife she would not have generated a biography no matter how gorgeous she was. It is possible that Katharine Hepburn would not have generated a biography without Spencer Tracy.

The second rule of biography addresses the question, “What did the subject of the biography do that would interest an identifiable market that is willing to spend money buying the book?” Books are easier to sell to identified markets than they are to general markets. Even if you have not done something huge in your life, if you have done something small that several thousand people could be expected to want to read about, you can probably get a book published – or sell a self-published book.

Occasionally someone related to a famous person will generate a biography for the famous person, which is really their autobiography that has a large market because of the fame of the parent – particularly if there is a twist to the fame. A case in point was Christina Crawford who wrote “Mommy Dearest.” Her mother Joan Crawford was a horrendously abusive mother. In this case the answer to the question “who will buy your book?” is people interested in nasty gossip that will make a relatively famous movie star look really bad. Joan Crawford became less well known for her successful Hollywood career than she was for the harm she did to her daughter. It is quite probable that Joan Crawford would never have been the subject a biography without that abuse. It is an absolute given that Christina Crawford would not have merited a biography without the abuse by a relatively famous mother.

For years I thought that books were about writing. They are not. They are about selling. 80% of your time as a writer is spent selling your book; selling your book to an agent, selling your book to a publisher, and then selling your book to an identified market. If you don’t sell your book, you don’t get to quit your day job. It is essential that you identify the people you think you can sell to and allow the interest of your market to inform your writing. Your book comes out of what you know that people like you need or want to know.

The easiest way to sell your autobiography is to identify a market that wants to read about what you have done, write specifically for that market and find organizations that are interested in that subject that you can use as a venue to sell books to their membership. For example, if your child survived a rare form of cancer you can write about what you did to help that child survive. Write about all the information that you learned during your child’s battle against cancer that would be interesting and useful to other families facing a similar battle. The parents of children with cancer, and particularly that form of cancer, are your market. The organizations built around fighting cancer, and particularly that form of cancer, are your marketing venues – the people you talk to, the people you sell your book to. All the things that other parents should know about battling that disease, the way you felt and how you handled your feelings, any techniques that you used to help your child cope with chemo and needles and hospital stays, what you did to help your other children deal with feelings of jealousy and neglect, all that is grist for your mill. What you did, not who you are, is the stuff of (auto) biography.

You can also slide your (auto) biography into “How To” books as part of the introduction that establishes you as an expert in your field. 20 or so pages, about what you learned and how you got to your level of expertise, that inform the reader about why they should read what you have written is your bio-introduction. These biographical chapters often encapsulate the highest and most exciting parts of your life which solves a problem about (auto) biography. Most of us live fairly boring lives with occasional spikes of excitement and activity. Most of us could write an article about the high points of our lives rather than a book. If you turn what you’ve learned into a “How To” book and talk more about what you can teach and less about yourself and your life, biography is easier to write.

Fictionalizing your biography is another way to write about yourself, interesting episodes in your life and what interests you. In fiction, I generally write in the area of medical thriller or medical rescue. I am a former New York City Paramedic which is a job that can be surprisingly tedious. It is a ‘hurry up and wait’ profession with a great deal of very dull transport in between a few extremely exciting rescues. In my books I slide in high points from the ambulance. I describe people that I found interesting, situations that fascinated me, amazing accidents and rescues that I participated in or heard about from other Paramedics, techniques that we used in the field, things that we studied that I imagined using in the field. It’s not exactly an autobiography, but it pulls from my life, my interests and the lives of those around me. Turning what interests you into fiction increases the amount of material available to you.

Since you may be writing about a field of interest rather than about yourself, you may want to research what has already been written on the subject. Simply because there are other books in your area of expertise does not mean that you should not write in a given area. Think of how many cookbooks there are. What you want to do is read everything that has been written in your area of interest or expertise and figure out what is missing or how you would handle the issue differently. At the very least, you bring yourself and your personal experiences to the table. I wrote a small book called “Date Rape: It’s Not Your Fault” which was inspired by my own rape. Are there other books about date rape? Of course there are. But those books did not include my story and how I handled my recovery and they did not reach the same market that I can reach.

To begin the process of writing (auto) biography start by answering the following questions:

  • What have you done that other people would be interested in reading about?
  • Who would be interested in what you want to write about? – be specific.
  • How big is that potential market?
  • How do you reach that potential market?
  • Check out Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Buzz, Yahoo and MySpace to see if there are existing groups that are interested in that subject.
  • Are there organizations that might be interested in your subject?
  • If yes, contact them. Become active in them. Become known within them.
  • What questions would people who are interested in your subject need or want to know?
  • Make a list of those questions.
  • Are there other books on your subject?
  • If there are other books, how would you treat the subject differently?
  • What information did other authors leave out that you consider important?
  • How can you organize your book to stress the differences in what you bring to the table?

These questions should get you started and should lead to other questions that will help you write and organize books about you that will turn you into a successful writer.

Differences Between Heat Exhaustion, Heat Prostration and Heat Stroke

Hyperthermia is the elevation of body temperature, primarily in response to illness or environment. Excessive heat and humidity are a deadly combination for man and beast! This is especially true for dogs that are not acclimated to it.

Many are under the impression dogs do not sweat. That’s not true. However, where and how much they sweat is not enough to cool them down when they are in distress. Dogs barely sweat the pads of their paws. A sign of an overheated dog damp paw prints.

The most effective way for a dog to cool itself is panting; especially if they do not have access to water, a fan, air conditioning, or shade.

Being outside, between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm is particularly dangerous to dogs. Being the hottest hours of the day; the majority of dogs that suffer from hyperthermia, are affected during those 6 hours.

Prevention is the primary objective. However, that is not always possible. The following are the stages of progression to heat stroke. The earlier you realize your dog is in distress and take action, the greater the chances of their survival.

You have less than 10 minutes to get your dog’s temperature under control if they have suffered from heat exhaustion. Anything over 103 degrees is dangerous. A body temperature of over 105 degrees for more than 5 minutes is potentially fatal.

Concentrate on cooling the key areas, which are their chest, under their armpits, groins and paw pads.

Heat Exhaustion

The first stage of overheating is called heat exhaustion. Symptoms include: agitated, labored breathing, heavy panting, increased drooling and salivation, rapid heart beat, damp paws, anxious, whining, disoriented, lethargic, dehydrated and/or bright red gums, tongue, inner ear and/or whites of their eyes.

Heat Prostration

The second state is heat prostration. The signs include: shallow breathing, fluctuating and labored panting, dry mouth, glassy-eyed, unfocused, unresponsive to commands, pale/grey gums, confusion, unsteady due to lack of muscle control, diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration, and/or at times bleeding. Immediate veterinary assistance is recommended. Call your veterinarian and let them know you are on your way, so they can be prepared for urgent action.

Heat Stroke

The third and possibly fatal stage is heat stroke. The signs include: pale, grey gums, loss of consciousness, labored, barely breathing or panting, stop breathing, tremors, seizure, lethargic, dehydrated, thick sticky salvia, vomiting, loss of bladder/bowel control, bleeding, coma and death. If the dog’s body temperature is over 104 degrees, you have 5 minutes to get them to the nearest veterinarian. If possible, call them so they can be prepared to take urgent action.

Helpful Tips to Prevent Hyperthermia

– Keep your dog inside, between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm as much as possible.

– Keep your dog well hydrated. Always make sure more than one bucket or bowl of fresh water is accessible at all times.

– A kiddie pool in the shade, with 2 inches of water, not only gives your dog access to drinking water; it’s a fun way to cool down quickly.

– Do the pinch test. Pinch the skin between their shoulder blades. If it does not immediately snap back into place, dehydration has started.

– Lift your dog’s lip; press your index finger on their gum until it turns white. Release. If it does not turn pink immediately, your dog is dehydrated.

– Add ¼ cup of Gatorade or Pedialyte to their water buckets. They need the extra electrolytes. Encourage them to drink, but only small amounts at a time.

– If your dog is overheated, do not allow them to drink water too fast, or give them water that is ice cold. It can cause vomiting, which will only exacerbate their dehydration.

– Walk and moderately exercise your dog only during the cooler hours of the day.

– Carry water and collapsible bowls on extended walks.

– Keep water and bowl in your vehicle.

– Provide a sprinkler on a low setting or hose your dog down periodically.

– Provide plenty of shade.

– Do not leave your dog outside unsupervised for more than one half hour, when weather is humid and hot.

– Give your dog ice cube treats or a block of ice, made with a combination of water and either Gatorade or Pedialyte to play with. Plain ice cubes also work!

– Use a cooling collar during walks. They are available in pet stores and online.

– Provide a cooling mat in the summer. They are available in pet stores and online.

– Groom your dog. Matted hair retains body heat.

– Dark hair dogs need extra concern when in the direct sun. Cool them down periodically.

– Keep their weight in check. Obese dogs have a harder time cooling down.

-Never leave a puppy, senior or ill dog outside unsupervised.

– Do not confine your pet in a confined area such as a garage or plastic crate without adequate ventilation.

– If you must leave your dog outside in the summer, take necessary precautions In addition, have someone check on them. Provide a hose and ask them to hose your dog down periodically. Inform them on signs to watch for and what to do if your dog is in distress.

– If your dog has already suffered from heat related episodes, be extra vigilant. They are prone to future problems.

What To Do If Hyperthermia Has Started

– Do not use ice-cold water when treating your dog. It can throw them into shock!

– Hold frozen bags of vegetables on their chest, under their armpits, on their groins and on their paw pads. Frozen peas or corn work great!

– Wipe under their armpits, groin and pads of their feet with rubbing alcohol.

– Immediately hose or pour cool water on them. Concentrate on their chest, under the armpits, groin and pads of their feet.

– Put your dog in the bathtub and shower them with cool water.

– Place your dog in the shade and if possible on wet grass, towel or mat.

– Place ice chips or gently squeeze from a towel; water mixed with Gatorade or Pedialyte into the corner of the dog’s mouth.

– Place your dog in front of a fan or air conditioner. If possible wet them or place a wet towel on them.

– Get veterinary attention as soon as possible.

– When transporting your dog to the veterinarian, place a wet towel over your dog, put them on front seat near air conditioning vent.

Brachycephalic dogs, such as Bulldogs, Boxers and Pugs are the most common victims of heat-associated problems. With their pushed in face, short muzzle and short head, their shorter upper airway lessens their ability to exhale hot air and inhale cooler air fast enough to lower their body temperature.

Examples of breeds prone to heat sensitivity include: Boxer, Shar Pei, Great Dane, Mastiff, Boston Terrier, French Bulldog, English Bulldog, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, English Bulldog, Pekingese, Chow-Chow, Rottweiler, Collie, Maltese, Pomeranian, Yorkshire Terrier, Basset Hound, Newfoundland, Japanese Chin, Shih Tzu, Bernese Mountain Dog, St. Bernard, Bichon Frise, Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Border Collie, Clumberland Spaniel, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Bottom line: Take extra precautions in the summer. The combination of heat and humidity is a killer. Err on the side of caution. If you suspect your pet has heat exhaustion, prostration or stroke, don’t waste time. Cool them down as quickly as possible, concentrating on the key areas and immediately get them to the nearest veterinarian. Even if your dog responds to your treatment, follow-up with your veterinarian. Usually, once an animal suffers from heat related problems, it becomes an on-going concern.

Is the Buteyko Oxygenation Therapy a Better Cancer Cure Than Foods and Diets?

Since this question was asked on different forums, I decided to write this article. To my knowledge, none of the previous or current medical doctors who practice the Buteyko therapy (over 200 people) claimed that this therapy can cure cancer. However, there are certain clinical observations and known scientific facts that I am going to briefly review here.

All available physiological evidence, starting from the Nobel Prize discovery of Dr. Otto Warburg, who in his speech “The Prime Cause and Prevention of Cancer” (1966) said, “In every case, during the cancer development, the oxygen respiration always falls, fermentation appears, and the highly differentiated cells are transformed into fermenting anaerobes, which have lost all their body functions and retain only the now useless property of growth and replication” until all available modern research, indicates that low body oxygenation in the body is still the prime cause of cancer.

The central test of the Buteyko oxygenation therapy and the main tool of the patient or student is stress-free breath holding time, which accurately reflects body oxygenation. [Exhale normally, pinch the nose, close the mouth, and measure your breath holding time but only until the first stress or discomfort. At certain moment of time, this discomfort starts to grow and, if one releases the nose at this moment, the test is correct and the breathing pattern does not change: it is the same after the test as before it.]

A typical Buteyko doctor had hundreds, sometimes thousands of patients who learned the oxygenation therapy to variable degree (starting with less than 20 s for early morning oxygenation and going up to 30, 35, 40, 60, 90 etc. seconds). There were no systematic cancer studies since the Buteyko method is focused mostly on about 15-20 other common diseases (like asthma, heart disease, bronchitis, epilepsy, sinusitis, insomnia, etc.) However, it is known that presence of any chronic condition is a risk factor for cancer. Hence, hundreds of Russian Buteyko patients with cancer experienced corresponding developments (see below), while none of Russian Buteyko doctors could make cancer cure claims based on a few or even several cases in the own practice. When all these cases are gathered together and their conclusions are the same, then we can speak about the following clinical findings.

These doctors consistently observed that when index of body oxygenation gets up to 35-40 s, tumors start to disappear.

It is not a surprise then that Doctor Buteyko, based on these persistent observations in relation to cancer and other diseases of civilization, stated that 60 s of oxygen in the body should be the norm of ideal health, since about 150 chronic diseases, cancer included, are incompatible with this physiological state. [You cannot have 60 s of oxygen in the body 24/7 and tumors at the same time.]

When oxygenation is below 20 s, even for 30 min, inflamed tissues and tumors are likely to grow.

When the breath hold is less than 10 s, the immune system offers little resistance even in the blood. Sepsis and metastasis are possible.

These observations are rather simple and they are in complete agreement with dozens of western professional oncological studies (cancer-tissue hypoxia link). Moreover, oxygenation-based observations are more accurate since they provide a simple measure of cancer development (for worse and for better).

We see that all available evidence, clinical observation and scientific research show that cancer development is based on tissue hypoxia, not on presence or absence of herbs, functional foods, vitamins, or other substances in diet. (Only when we are truly deficient in any essential nutrient, correct supplementation improves the health state and increase body oxygenation. This effect can be easily measured.)

The modern approach to cancer among many people in alternative health area is almost the same as the approach of most doctors in relation to disease and drugs. Instead of the medication or pill, it is suggested to use various supplements, herbs, colloidal silver, enzymes, etc. to fight cancer. For this mental approach, the person with cancer becomes an innocent victim of the vicious disease and the supplement (herb, enzyme, vitamin, substance, etc.) plays the role of the savior. It is the same situation as with medical drugs: innocent patients, treacherous diseases, and a doctor-savior on a white horse delivering the magic medical pill.

Moreover, reduced brain oxygenation, due to heavy breathing, makes cancer sufferers very susceptible to this “sweet supplement” myth when they participate in never-ending games searching for the cure. When the old savior (medical drug or supplement) disappears or gets unpopular, the new savior is immediately found or anticipated. Why are these fantasies so popular? Because these myths create an illusion of innocence and “re-assure” current, physiologically abnormal lifestyle of the sick person.

This has nothing to do with physiology of the human body, cancer pathology, and health, because the person can eat tones of herbs and vitamins, drink canisters of colloidal silver, and do thousands other promoted things, but if the oxygenation remains below 20 s (e.g., due to mouth breathing, or sleeping on one’s back, or due to lack of physical activity, or due to inflammation and cortisol deficiency, etc.), no cancer improvement will take place. Hence, prevention of mouth breathing 24/7, prevention of sleeping on one’s back, correct posture 24/7, physical activity with strictly nasal breathing, eating only when truly hungry, and many other lifestyle factors and hidden physiological obstacles (cavities, intestinal parasites, fungal infections, etc.) are more important since these, real factors address the foundation of cancer: low body oxygenation.

“Oxygen content in the organism can be found using a simple method: after exhalation, observe, how long the person can pause their breath without stress” Soviet Physiologist, PhD (Physiology), MD Konstantin Buteyko.

“Therefore, I emphasize, the fact established long ago, or the law: the less the depth of breathing, the more oxygen is delivered in the organism, and vice versa, the deeper the breath, the less oxygen is delivered in the organism.” Dr. Buteyko speaking about breathing patterns.

Root Canal Treatment! Oh No! Is That Your Response? Think Again!

RCT!! I have seen a huge range of responses to this most commonly done dental treatment at my practice. Most common one is “oh no!! I can’t take up that pain.”

Whereas few others jump from their chair and say “doctor please take out my tooth. I cannot take an injection”

Some have a sigh; others show anxiety but are ready for the procedure.

But there are many who feel happy as they know pain will be relieved and they can still save their ailing tooth.

Yes, believe me. The current technology assures people of painless Root canal treatment commonly known as RCT. The only pain you would have to bear is that of anaesthesia and that lasts for just 2-3 seconds. Does that sound good?

Okay, coming back to the point, as a dentist with more than a decade of experience after treating thousands of patients, I would say, RCT can definitely save that pearl in your mouth. A well done Root canal treatment procedure ensures that tooth functions just like any other natural tooth and restores your chewing capacity. Not only that. It also helps in retaining that healthy bone architecture around the tooth which is quite crucial in providing proper shape to your face.

Now tell me, would you love to save your tooth or ready to lose it and thus handicap yourselves for ever and affect rest of the teeth??

When is Root Canal Treatment indicated?

Root canal treatment is the dental treatment procedure done for teeth which have infected, injured or exposed pulp tissue.

The tooth can get infected because of deep cavities or an injury to the tooth might expose pulp tissue. Many a times during an accident the injured tooth might have not shown any surface distortion but the pulp would be dead. This becomes obvious as the affected tooth shows discoloration over a period.

Root canal treatment is also done for healthy teeth during some cosmetic dental procedures when they are not in the proper arch form or do not have proper shape.

Root canal treatment Procedure

To begin with, the tooth which requires the procedure will be anaesthetied.

This ensures a painless procedure. In case of an acute infection when patient is suffering from severe pain, antibiotics are administered and the treatment is done once the infection is under control.

• RCT is done either with hand instruments called files or with motor driven rotary instruments once the dentist gains access into the pulp chamber of the affected tooth.

• Advanced system of Rotary Endodontics or Rotary RCT is done with motor driven instruments which ensure minimal treatment time and better comfort for the patient.

• Fine instruments are used to reach root canals and to clear the root canals of infected tissue. These are called reamers, files and are available in various dimensions. Files of suitable sizes are used for mechanical cleaning and shaping of the canals. The files used can vary from 0.06 mm to 2 mm in diameter. To give you an idea, the thickness of human hair varies from 0.02 mm to 0.2 mm, so a dental file is finer than a thick strand of human hair.

• This mechanical cleaning of the canal is always coupled with irrigation from saline and other antibacterial solutions which help in flushing out debris, infected tissue and organisms from the canal.

• This mechanical preparation with irrigation from antibacterial solutions drains the pus out from the root tips and makes the tooth infection free and relieves pain.

• Once the tooth is made infection free, it is filled with root canal filling materials called gutta percha along with root canal cements which are predominantly zinc oxide based.

• With rotary RCT the treatment is usually completed in 1-2 appointments and is back in action.

• Further this tooth needs to be covered with dental crowns commonly called tooth cap. The root canal treated tooth loses its water content and becomes brittle. It can fracture under chewing forces. Hence protecting it with dental cap is very much required.

Do you see the point now? Anyways you still have not got the complete picture of the procedure. Let’s play a video which explains the procedure. We will also listen to an expert in this domain. I am sure now you are ready for saving your tooth.

Cheer up and happy Root Canal Treatment…

The Widows Journey Through Loneliness

According to a recent poll on , the biggest issue facing widows is loneliness. Some widows speak of the loneliness of losing their best friend. For some, their spouse was their financial planner and support. For some widows their spouse was their business partner. Some widows speak of missing their spouse as the father of their children and how this adds to their feelings of loneliness as a result of losing their spouse.

Whatever the reason, loneliness can be a very painful experience for those who grieve. There is a huge empty space in a widow’s life and especially in her heart. The world, both inside and outside, can feel and appear as a huge black hole.

The world of loneliness has been described as seeing the world in tones of gray rather than in full color. The heart of loneliness can feel either raw like an open wound or it can feel numb and almost dead.

Love feels totally unavailable and almost like a dream that no longer exists for those lonely with grief. From this bleak place a widow begins her journey. And she may question whether she even wants to begin this journey. How will the loneliness ever leave? Is it even possible? What will replace the loneliness? Will she forget him if she is not lonely anymore?

These deep feelings of loneliness and loss can become so prevalent that a sort of emotional paralysis sets in. So where can a widow go from this bleak place of loneliness?

The loneliness of grief often moves the griever into frantic activity. This activity can manifest in various forms. Some explore new activities or volunteer work. Some widows throw themselves into their job or look for a new job. Other widows take classes. There are still others who decide to try dating. And then there are the old standbys of TV watching or drinking or drugs or listening to music.

While most of these activities are quite viable options for those seeking to move on with their lives after a loss, they can easily become escape vehicles from the pain of loneliness.

After struggling with this profound loneliness in my own life after the loss of my spouse I slowly began to realize that my grief had moved me off center. While I missed my spouse, I was also missing how I felt within myself when I was with him.

The relational nature of women seems to create a very porous connection between women and those they love. There is an open flow within the relationship of most women and whoever they are in relationship with. When this connection is missing, there can be a real sense of feeling completely lost. There is no flow. There is only loneliness.

This loneliness can manifest as a huge empty space. This loss of connection within the empty spaces of grief can be difficult to emerge from. The frantic search to fill these spaces from the outside usually does not bring the grieving widow back into connection with herself. Activities take up time but that can be all that they do if the grieving widow is not aware of the reason for reaching out.

Grief is really about the loss of a sense of self. While all losses can have this impact on the griever, I believe this is particularly difficult for widows because of the relational issues explained above. The pain of grief is not only about the widow’s loss of her spouse. The pain of grief is also about the loss of identity for the grieving widow.

Grief signals an opportunity to reconnect and rediscover one’s own identity again. While this is truly the work of each individual in this world, it becomes extremely crucial for grievers, especially widows.

Journaling, meditation, reading and studying, body work, energy work are a few tools that can guide grievers back to their center. From this place of awareness widows can begin to find their way through and beyond their grief.

We all have been a victim to favoritism at work. Favoritism means exactly how it sounds. Sometimes we are not aware when work favoritism happens to us. Have you lost a promotion because of favoritism?

There is a famous phrase that permeates throughout the workplace and in our everyday lives. The phrase is “It is not what you know, but who you know.”

What happened to promotion by merit?

As a young man I refused to believe favoritism in the workplace happens. I did not know I was naive. I think most people would say I was dumb to expect more.

I quickly learned that favoritism is rampant in some work environments and easily disguised.

Favoritism definition:

Favoritism=the showing of special favor.

Favoritism related words

Cronyism and Nepotism are more specialized terms.

How does favoritism relate to these terms?

While cronyism and nepotism are closely related to favoritism they describe the type of favoritism.

cronyism=refers to showing favoritism to friends or acquaintances.

I know you have heard of the phrase Good Ol’ Boys. The term cronyism derives from this behavior. It has gone on for centuries.

A good example of this behavior is when politicians return favors to those who helped them get elected. The politician offers a position to one of his friends or he relaxes laws to help his colleagues.

Do you think cronyism is ethical?

Would you continue to support a politician if they were found guilty of cronyism?

Do you believe cronyism is the way things get done in Washington D.C.?

nepotism=refers to the favoritism shown to relatives. The term comes from the Latin word nepos meaning nephew.

I almost expect to lose a job to a relative. It may not be fair but employers are smart enough not to show they hired a person because of nepotism.

On the other hand I would report work favoritism if it was obvious. I would hate to work for the boss’s son or close relative. I could never really trust him.

Most of the time it will be you who gets reassigned to another job if a problem arises.

Have you ever worked for a boss’s son?

If a relative were hired instead of you, would you make noise or continue to be a loyal employee?

Can you name another environment where favoritism happens?

How can we fight favoritism?

Do you believe there are good reasons for showing favoritism?

If you were the benefactor of favoritism, how would you feel morally?

Have you ever reported favoritism?

The bottom-line is that no matter what level of favoritism; if it’s based on race, gender, religion it is illegal. The EEOC has laws protecting us against workplace favoritism.

If you feel you are a victim of workplace favoritism, you should file a grievance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The E.E.O.C. is responsible for all discrimination in the workplace. Make sure you check with your job to see if you have a local representative.

The representative can help walk you through the grievance process or help you resolve the problem.

Keep in mind that nobody can stop you from filing a grievance with the EEOC. If you are discouraged from filing, then you may have another lawsuit.

If you are uncomfortable speaking to a co-worker you can contact an EEOC counselor.

Your employer has violated your rights if they retaliate against you for filing.

Do we expect favoritism at work?

I hope this article helps someone and informs you that you have rights even at work.

What Does Burning Lower Back Pain Mean?

One of the key clues to diagnosing the cause of back pain lies in the description of the pain you feel; your chances of an accurate diagnosis increase with the details you are able to give. Location, duration, frequency and type of sensation are all crucial components of a pain description. Documenting your pain in a journal may help you express your pain to your doctor.

There are many types of pain sensations; aches, sharp pains and burning are among the most common. Here we will discuss the most common conditions indicated by burning lower back pain.

Muscle Fatigue

The most common cause of burning back pain is muscle tightness and fatigue. Whether you are a bodybuilder or an office worker, you likely have overexerted muscles. This is because improper posture and poor ergonomics, two very common phenomena, tax lower back muscles throughout the day. The scientific community is at odds concerning whether lactic acid or some other substance causes overworked muscles to burn. To us, all that matters is that the work a muscle performs produces metabolic by-products, and that one or more of those products can build up in the muscle if not flushed out by blood flow. In order to flush out waste, a muscle requires both contraction and relaxation to pump blood in and out. A tight muscle is stuck in contraction. When waste builds up and oxygen is depleted, pain is felt.

Tight muscles need to loosen in order to release buildup and take in fresh blood, full of nutrients and oxygen that facilitate healing and energy. Muscles that are moderately tight from a strenuous activity or short-term cause can be stretched. Heat is also great for tight, tired muscles since it encourages blood flow. A heating pad or hot bath is ideal. For muscles that are chronically tight due to prolonged improper posture and biomechanics, self-myofascial release with a foam roller may be necessary. You may also wish to consult a physical therapist for targeted exercise, stretching and postural advice.

Nerve Impingement

Another potential cause of burning in the lower back is nerve impingement. Sciatica is the most common type of nerve impingement in this area. A number of things can irritate a nerve exiting the spinal column: herniated or bulging disc, misplaced vertebra or inflamed muscle are among the causes. Nerves send motor and sensory information back and forth between a part of the body and the brain. Interference with this signaling can lead to burning, tingling, weakness and pain along the nerve pathway.

Burning pain attributed to a nerve can be distinguished from muscle burning by the fact that the pain is along the nerve path rather than localized. Also, nerve impingement cannot be treated with simple rest and heat (heat may actually make it worse). The treatment will depend on what is irritating the nerve. Massage, chiropractic care and exercise therapy are all treatment plans that people may pursue to relieve pain from nerve impingement.

Rare Causes

Burning muscles can on rare occasion indicate a more serious condition. If accompanied by vomiting and painful urination, a kidney infection may be present. If the burning is followed by a loss of sensation in part of the body, nerve damage may be occurring. Diabetes and multiple sclerosis also have been linked to burning sensations. If your pain is not caused by either muscular fatigue or nerve impingement, it is important to be tested for these serious conditions.

For most people, remaining more mobile throughout the day and improving posture will be sufficient to relieve muscle burning. Conditioning the core muscles, especially the deep abdominal muscles, will lend support to your lower back and help prevent overexertion. It is important to be aware that non-muscular burning indicates a potential nerve problem that requires medical attention. Pay attention to your pain, and seek help if you are unsure of its cause.

Monkshood -The Flower With a Deadly Side

My neighbors gardening mishap nearly cost him his life and it taught me never to take a plant for granted. It happened on a crisp clear April day in a cool but sunny Iowa backyard. Spring growth was just beginning to emerge and like most gardeners the call of spring was just to strong to resist. My neighbor and long time friend headed into his backyard gloves on and ready to start weeding his flowerbeds hoping to spot some early new growth and confirm that winter was finally over.

His girlfriend was in the house making a pot of coffee while he was happily pulling odd growth and newly sprouted weeds away from his precious plants. She brought him out a cup of hot coffee and together they enjoyed the spring weather and discussed the new plants they wanted to add to their garden this spring. He slowly sipped on is coffee and took off his gloves to enjoy a cigarette while he watched his little terrier, Czar, racing around the backyard looking for a stray bunny to chase.

His girlfriend had errands to run and went about her day as he went back to weeding his plants. The day progressed and he felt like he was coming down with a sore throat. It kept getting steadily worse and his girlfriend had still not returned. He was starting to have difficulty breathing and began to worry that he was having a reaction to his medications. He headed over to his neighbors house and after one look at his throat she had him in her car and on his way to the local hospital.

The doctor on call thought he was having an allergic reaction to an insect bite and gave him a series of shots and put him on an IV. Three hours later he was still not better and the doctor became intensely worried as his throat looked like it was swelling shut. He asked him what he had been doing that day and the story soon came out. My neighbor had been weeding his flowerbeds around some highly toxic (poisonous) plants and had forgotten to put his gloves back on. He had touched the spent oily leaves of a plant called monkshood and had then smoked a cigarette ingesting the oils with the smoke and his mouth and throat had reacted to the poison. Monkshood is used as an ingredient in some heart medications. It has a beautiful bloom but in the wrong hands can be deadly and my neighbor was a very serious and experienced gardener but a casual mistake could have cost him his life. After watching the drama of his experience with a plant he had grown for years I fully understand the value of a pair of gardening gloves. Never take a plant for granted!

6 Most Common Diseases That Affect Seniors

Growing old is a natural process of life, which can sometimes be both a wonderful and terrifying experience. With age comes wisdom that sheds a new light on life, where you realize what are the most important things in life – family and friends. Spending time with loved ones and enjoying the fruits of their labor is why many people look forward to celebrating retirement and facing new experiences.

Unfortunately, some seniors do not enjoy their golden years due to failing health.

There are many diseases that can affect elderly, and we bring you six most common diseases that can affect seniors and adult over 55 years of age.

Arthritis

Arthritis is a group of conditions involving damage to the joints of the body) and is one of the most common conditions that affect elderly people. With over 100 different forms of arthritis, the majority of seniors suffer from osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis comes as the result of age or trauma or infection of the joint. People who suffer from this condition list pain as the most common complaint. The pain can often be localized, and can worsen over time.

Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia, and is incurable, terminal and degenerative disease. It is often diagnosed in seniors over 65 years of age and older, although rarer early-onset Alzheimer’s can be diagnosed earlier than that.

The course of this disease can be divided into four stages:

  • pre-dementia
  • early Alzheimer’s
  • moderate Alzheimer’s
  • advanced Alzheimer’s

Currently, the science has no answer when it comes to the prevention of this disease, although some studies suggest that diet, pharmaceutical products, cardiovascular risk, or intellectual activities may contribute to developing Alzheimer’s.

Heart Failure

Heart failure definition – the inability of the heart to supply sufficient blood flow to meet the body’s needs. Among causes of heart failure in seniors are diabetes, obesity, heart attacks, hypertension, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy and some other forms of heart disease.

Most common symptoms of heart failure are:

  • shortness of breath
  • ankle swelling
  • coughing
  • chronic venous congestion
  • etc.

Cancer

Cancer is a class of diseases in which a cell or a group of cells display:

  • uncontrolled growth – when they divide beyond normal limits
  • invasion – when they destruct adjacent tissues
  • and sometimes metastasis – when they spread to other locations in a body.

It has been determined that cancer is an environmental disease (90%-95% environmental and lifestyle factors), while only 5%-10% of cancers are the result of genetics.

Most common environmental factors are:

  • tobacco
  • diet
  • infections
  • lack of physical activity
  • radiation

Parkinson’s

Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that impairs motor skills, cognitive processes and other functions. This disease most often affects people 60 years of age and older, although it can affect younger people, too.

Following are the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease:

  • tremor
  • rigidity – joint stiffness
  • bradykinesia and akinesia – slowness and absence of movement
  • postural instability – impaired balance
  • gait and posture disturbance
  • difficulty with speech and swallowing
  • fatigue

Diabetes

Diabetes type 2 is more common in elderly than diabetes type 1. It is a metabolic disorder that is characterized by high blood glucose in the context of insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency.

The most common symptoms of diabetes are:

  • polyuria – frequent urination
  • polydipsia – increased thirst
  • polyphagia – increased hunger
  • weight loss
  • fatigue

Chromotherapy For Treating Diabetes – Natural Therapy For Diabetes

There are several natural therapies that are found to be beneficial in the treatment and prevention of diabetes and the one among them is Chromotherapy. It involves therapeutic use of colors. According to this system, the cause of any disease can be traced by the lack of color harmony in the human system and this imbalance can be removed by the use of colored light to the body.

Chromotherapy is best used as supportive therapy along with a correct diet, exercises, yogic asanas, adequate rest and relaxation, and so on. Red and blue colors are considered as the two extremes of the spectrum, with yellow representing the midpoint. These are also the three principal colors in a rainbow, the other four being violent, indigo, green and orange. In the rainbow colors, nature has provided a scheme of healing of great therapeutic value.

According to chromotherapy, diabetes is generally caused by a deficiency of orange and yellow colors in the body. There are two methods of treating diseases by color: by application of light filtered through different colored glasses; and by the external or internal use of color charges water.

In the first method, sheets of glass, measuring 30 cm x 36 cm, of different color are used. These are placed in the windows or at any other convenient place in such way that the sun rays pass through them and fall directly on the patient’s body. The usual duration of color treatment is 30 minutes.

In the second method, colored bottles are sued. These bottles are thoroughly cleaned and filled three quarter with fresh well water or distilled water or rain water. The bottles are corked are placed in bright sunlight for three to four hours. After this exposure, the water is said to have acquired medicinal properties and this color charged water is used both internally and for external applications.

Lemon yellow is the color of the pancreas. It is a laxative and diuretic. It is a stimulant for the brain, the liver and the spleen. It is effective in the treatment of diabetes, indigestion, and many other diseases.

Green and orange are also helpful in controlling diabetes. Green is nature’s color. Green helps in pituitary gland, which is turn stimulates the thyroid gland. It also stimulates the elimination of the toxic matter. Green charged water in the morning on the empty stomach and before major meals is beneficial is diabetes. Gargling with green-charged water and washing of the eyes with this water is also suggested.

Orange-color breathing has been found beneficial in the treatment of diabetes. An empty orange colored glass bottle, corked at its mouth, should be placed on a piece of wood and exposed to sunlight for about an hour. The patient should then take the cork out and with mouth of the bottle in his mouth inhale the sun-charged air of the bottle for a few minutes. This may be repeated thrice daily. The patient may also drink a cup of sun-charged orange water about 15 or 20 minutes after every major meal.

Besides the treatment prescribed above, the diabetics should take liberal quantities of fruits and vegetables which have these two colors in abundance.

Alchemical Weight Loss – Transformation of Excessive Weight Into Human Spirit

The unsolved problem of obesity:

Coping with overweight is one of the most desperating issues for those who experience it. Conventional efforts for treating the problem by means of diet and physical exercise are revealed again and again as ineffective in the long run. Still, most human beings keep trying in the same ways. The result is always another rise in weight, with the addition of failure feelings, helplessness and desperation. The reason for failure lies in the misunderstanding of the dynamics in which the physical body gains weight.

The known diet is based on the assumption that the physical body raises as a result of excessive caloric balance which turns into physical material – excessive fat. According to this understanding the derived conclusion is that reducing the consumption of physical material – food – will bring about a reduction of the physical body. This perception is mistaken because it is based on a narrowing view and on analytical causation, which suggest a physical solution to what is sees as a problem that is physical in essence. This conception oversimplifies the complexity of man and neglects the many strata that affect his life, far beyond the physical dimension. Due to that, it cannot offer an effective solution to the problem. The holistic perspective on man tells us that in order to solve a problem, physical as well, we are ought to expand the point of view and understand the entirety of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual causes, in which it was created.

The roots of the obesity problem – Reversed alchemy of gold into lead:

The alchemical perspective on the obesity phenomenon begins with the perception that man is an entity that own creation forces, and is capable of building by himself its physical body, emotional world, mental forces and spiritual strength, and create the physical and spiritual reality in which he or she lives. This force is executed by the ability of man to do a transformation of itself and its environment from low energy existence to existence of a higher frequency, in the same way that an alchemist turns lead into gold. In fact, this is the aim of his life and to there leads his personal path. Overweight is a sign that for some reason the person is focused too much on creating himself a physical body, and neglects the creation of other parts of him and his life.

Creation forces that reside in man are executed by the interaction of two fundamental and opposing energies. These energies are known in different names as matter and spirit, prana and shakti, yin and yang, and so on. In this article I shall refer to these energies as light and darkness.

The interaction between these opposing forces has been the factor that created man while being in the womb of its mother, and in the first years of its life. This creating interaction can exist when these two energies are distinct from each other. In this situation the light supplies the creation program and the darkness creates the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual structures needed for its execution. However, with birth the strength of darkness intensifies, due to the primal trauma of disconnection from cosmic feeding, and it is expressed in the constitution of strong pulling (gravitational) forces that absorb light into them.

In this situation man lacks the ability to execute the creation program that is imprinted in him, because the absorption of light by darkness creates a process of reverse alchemy in which it declines in its frequencies. The result is that instead of being a creating force it turns to an exterminating force that continues to transform high frequency material to low frequency material. The result is that the man gets to a route of death and termination, instead of continuing creation and development.

The light that is swallowed in darkness, perpetually keeps trying to execute the creation intention in it, and it tries to turn the direction of the alchemical process, to increase in its frequency and escape from the absorption of darkness. These efforts are actually seen in various human behaviors, from physical manifestations to emotional, mental and spiritual expressions. The ability of light to escape from darkness is totally dependent on the acknowledgment and acceptance of these human manifestations by its human environment in the first years of its life. But because the light that tries to escape is of a low frequency, it is manifested as behaviors that do not look lighted, and they express mostly egoistic personal wishes. Society, in general, rejects most of these expressions and forbids them and later on man learns to reject them himself, usually in an automatic unconscious way.

Weight gain as a result of the rejection of light and its collapse:

In order to be expressed as light that has the ability of giving, instead of absorption qualities that darkness has, light has to vibrate in the frequency that is right for it. The rejection of the light that tried to escape darkness causes it to lose this frequency and it collapses into a chaotic structure of a too low frequency, in which it continues to be expressed as darkness. The collapse is taking place in a complex process, in which the light that tried to go out is not falling back to a dimension of total in-existence, but collapses to lower levels of existence than the ones it should have reached. Light that was supposed, for example, to create a solid and functional physical body but was rejected, decreases in its frequency and creates a lower frequency physical body that is nonfunctional and is not supposed to exist according to the program of man. In other words – it creates fat. In the same way light that wad supposed to be manifested as an emotion and was rejected, deteriorates in its frequency and becomes a physical matter that is again manifested as fat.

Thus, there is a sustainment of the process in which the rejection of light (either by society, or by the unconsciousness of man) moves it to exist in lower energetic levels (characterized by forces of absorption and destruction instead of creation) than the ones in which it is supposed to be. Thus the reversed alchemy through which light goes, builds a physical body that is growing by the superfluous layers that are added to it, and the result is overweight. Man continues to be created, but the structure it creates is chaotic, unbalanced and distorted. The light that tried to get out of darkness in order to execute the creation program inside it, is left in the level of physical body as an unrealized potential.

The relationship between food and obesity in alchemical view:

In its unstopping efforts to raise the frequencies of light that collapsed to darkness, man is looking for external energy that will assist him in achieving that. This energy exists in the world as manifestations of spiritual entities to which man calls God, cosmos, Shiva, etc. However, because he hesitates to place full trust in them he prefers to receive energy from earthly sources, and food is the most available source that man consumes in order to enable the light in him to escape from the pull of the darkness. But because the food is consumed by a man whose energetic structure is characterized by absorption forces in the first place, it too goes through reversed alchemy processes. The food structure turns chaotic and his energy is absorbed to areas whose frequency is too low and which are continuing to grow as a physical body. That’s why food can, and does, cause overweight.

Narrowing the amounts of food and its composition by diet admittedly brings about reduction in the sizes of physical body, because it reduces the absorption forces by denying energy from them, thereby allowing more light to come out, mainly from the unproportionally created body. Yet, the rise of light raises also the fear of new rejection of it, and this fear turns to a gravitational force that prevents the light from getting out. Moreover – it brings about collapse of additional light that succeeded to escape. The result is that diet even strengthens the absorption forces and the reverse alchemy processes, and when man stops the diet and returns to eat as usual, his body gains weight even more. Thus, the more man experiences additional diets, the lower are his chances to reduce his weight, because his structure becomes more and more energetically absorbing and the reverse alchemy processes in him become stronger and stronger. The result is increasing fattening.

Alchemical weight loss – transduction of physical material:

According to the alchemical perspective weight loss is a process in which the light that collapsed and turned into redundant physical material, is rising again in its frequencies and reaches the energetic levels that are right for it. The result of reducing weight in this way is emergence of new parts in the person, in his emotional, mental and spiritual world, as well as his physical body. This weight reduction process creates an alchemy of low material into a new person, more complexed and of a higher energetic frequency existence.

From a person with an exaggerated mass of low frequency material, which looks like physical material, it turns into a more developed entity with creation forces and creation intentions, instead of destruction forces, including the destruction of self. This process is bringing the person to a route of energetic transduction, gives hope to his life, gives him back his connection to self, enables him to feel capable to realize his wishes, gives him the ability to distinguish between good and bad in his life, and mostly enables him to feel connected to an entity bigger than himself. Thereby this process fixes the feeling of existential loneliness that characterizes men’s life. This is a very different way from the way of an ordinary diet in which the person tries to get rid of parts of himself, and thereby strengthen the self blame, desperation, anger, and feeling of alienation.

The way to alchemical transduction of body weight:

In order to start the alchemical process that is necessary for the reduction of weight it is first needed to stop the continuation of the reversed alchemy processes inside us. These processes do not allow us to grow and they turn our potential to physical material.

These processes, in essence, are light that does not succeed to approach consciousness and therefore decreases in its frequencies, and thus the most important elementary tool to stop them is drawing attention to these processes by awareness to the fact of their existence. Such awareness enables the person a feeling of control that he didn’t have beforehand, when he felt helpless against his arbitrarily changing weight without knowing why, and how to prevent it. The feeling of control provides him also an ability to choose between life without self realization that is characterized by the familiar suffering, including excessive fattening, and a life in which he struggles to free the light in him and creates himself and his environment and obtains a balanced body, among others. This article consists as one such a tool of drawing awareness to these processes.

Freeing the light also requires getting over the fear from rejection and fear from change. Those fears are embedded in the nervous system and getting over it requires techniques that overpass that system. Such techniques come from varies domains of treatment, including EMDR, Kinesiology, and others. More techniques need to be developed and it requires a cooperation of researchers and therapists. Treating overweight is much more then controlling nutrition. It is a project of spiritual development of private man and humanity. That is an interesting point of view. Wouldn’t you say?

Natural Treatment Options for Shingles

They have a very strange name, but for those who have ever suffered from them, shingles are no laughing matter. They’re painful, difficult to treat, and unfortunately they seem to keep coming back for many patients. But what exactly causes shingles and how can you treat this condition, and keep it from coming back again?

Shingles actually refers to a strain of the herpes virus, however, they are not transmitted sexually. In adults they are usually caused by a dormant strain of the chickenpox; if you ever had the chickenpox when you were a child, even when the rash cleared up the virus that caused it stayed dormant in your system. Typically the virus reappears in the form of shingles when something compromises your immune system, such as stress, disease, or just plain aging. Usually those that are over 50 or that have any type of autoimmune disease are more prone to these outbreaks than anyone else.

Realizing what causes shingles doesn’t actually help you to avoid ever getting them; there’s not much you can do about aging or about getting a disease that compromises your immune system. But stress is also a common cause, so knowing that should help you understand the need to keep yourself calm and to learn ways of dealing with your stress before an outbreak of shingles. If you have something coming up that you know will cause excessive stress such as a deadline or presentation or something else, be sure you take extra precautions to keep yourself from getting overly stressed. Exercise, get plenty of sleep, and eat right. Talk things through with a family member or friend; sometimes just having a conversation about your stressful situation can put it in better perspective. These may not seem like much of a cure for shingles but since stress can cause it, if you can control your stress you can cut down on your chances of having an outbreak.

Since shingles manifests itself as a painful skin rash, using topical ointments can help with the immediate pain. Anti-viral medications and steroids can also help heal the outbreak as well.

Persons that are at special risk for the disease can sometimes get a vaccine that will help keep the virus at bay, and those with autoimmune disorders should be very careful about taking care of their condition carefully. And anyone that gets recurring cases of shingles should speak to a doctor as this may signal a disease or condition that should be treated properly.

Some common vitamins and over the counter products can help alleviate the symptoms of shingles such as the following:

Zinc is needed for healing and maintaining healthy tissues. Amino Acids are the building blocks of protein and are the vital components of skin, hair, muscle tissue, the body’s organs, blood cells, various enzymes and hormones. Zinc also has a profound influence on the body’s ability to resist disease.

Tea Tree Oil has natural anti-inflammatory properties and helps sooth and treat problem skin. It is used to help tighten pores and firm skin for a more youthful, healthy appearance.

Salicylic Acid also helps breakdown blackheads and whiteheads. It also helps cut down the shedding of cells lining the hair follicles clogging the pores of the skin. Salicylic acid is used as a mild abrasive to chemically exfoliate the skin to encourage the peeling of the top layer and to prevent a build-up of dead skin cells which combine with the oil to block pores.

Olbas is used to increase the circulation in skin by opening up the skin pores. Olbas oil has been used for its healing properties in cultures around the world for centuries.

Isotretinoin, a Vitamin A derivative, is an oral drug that is usually taken once or twice a day with food for 4 to 6 months. Isotretinoin has been shown to be very effective in treating severe acne and can either improve or clear over 80% of patients studied. Isotretinoin has a much longer effect than anti-bacterial treatments and will often cure acne for good. It reduces the size of oil glands and much less oil is produced and as a result the growth of propion bacteria is reduced.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.

Sore Penis Predicament: The Over-Stimulation Situation

The very concept of over-stimulation may seem ludicrous to some men, as there’s practically nothing a guy enjoys more than the pleasurable sensations that run through the penis when it is being fondled, caressed or enfolded. Yet sad to say, over-stimulation does occur, and the end result of that situation can be a very sore penis. Now, the pleasure involved in reaching this sore penis predicament may make the pain well worth it. Nevertheless, proper penis care requires that a man knows what to do to protect his mighty member from a little too much (or a lot too much) fun.

In most cases, a sore penis from over-stimulation doesn’t hurt for long. In some cases, a guy may wake up the next morning to find his manhood all set for another go-round. But sometimes the over-stimulation is such that refraining from action for several days may be necessary – and really, what healthy red-blooded male wants to be in that position?

Helpful tips

So what are some things a man can do to help prevent over-stimulation?

– Give guidance. Frequently over-stimulation comes about because a partner, whatever her other assets, doesn’t know the proper way to handle her man’s manhood. It behooves a gent to gently offer some instruction. Saying “That’s a little tight. Could you loosen your grip just a little?” for example, can prevent friction-related soreness.

– Give yourself guidance. When a man is in the midst of a really lengthy masturbatory experience, he may need to take some of that guidance and apply it to himself. Spending too much time ministering to one’s member can result in a pretty raw piece of equipment.

– Decline occasionally. Most guys are always ready to agree to any opportunity for a quick trip to paradise – even if the manhood is already well on the road to soreness before the opportunity presents itself. Exercising self-control and politely turning down an offer for sexual thrills can be difficult, but it may be worth it in the long run. (On the other hand, if this is the woman of your dreams, the experience may be worth the pain. But weigh all the factors before just jumping in and saying “When do we start?!”)

– Love the lube. Yes, a man’s equipment does come with a certain amount of natural lubrication, but often this is simply not sufficient for the task at hand. Fortunately, there is a large array of lubricants out there that can help to keep the penis properly slippery. This is key. Excess friction is the main cause of a sore penis, and can cause issues to develop with the penis skin, as well as a loss of sensitivity in the organ itself. Keeping lubricant on hand and using it generously can help tremendously.

– Love the latex, too. Unless a man is in a truly monogamous relationship, he needs to be using condoms to prevent potential STIs anyway. But latex protection also helps to protect the delicate member from too much friction during a wild bout of sex.

– Keep it healthy. A sore penis, whether due to over-stimulation or other causes, is going to be more resilient if it is kept in prime health. Daily application of a top-drawer penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) is one of the best ways to help maintain that health. When the penis is raw and sore, a crème that contains a powerful combination of moisturizers (such as Shea butter and vitamin E) is able to provide soothing relief that also helps to bring about natural healing processes to rejuvenate the damaged skin. Over-stimulation can easily lead to a loss of sensation in the manhood; a crème featuring acetyl L-carnitine is the ticket here. Acetyl L-carnitine is a neuroprotective ingredient that helps protect against peripheral penis nerve injury and keep the manhood appropriately responsive to stimulation.
