What Most Men Don’t Know About the Health Benefits of Penis Vitamins

Most men experience common penis health issues from time to time, such as dry penis skin, red penis, penis rash, soreness of the penis, and penis itching or irritation and diminished penis sensitivity. While these problems are generally treatable, they can cause discomfort that cannot be ignored. The good news is that daily treatment of the penis skin with moisturizing crèmes or oils containing penis vitamins and minerals can help to prevent most of these issues and keep the sensitive skin of the penis smooth, supple, and responsive to stimulation. Some of the important health benefits provided by penis vitamins and other nutrients are described here.

Eliminate dry, flaking, itchy penis skin – Frequent dry masturbation, cleansing products, and the spermicides often found in condoms can dry the skin, causing flaking, irritation, and an unattractive appearance. If left untreated, dry skin can become calloused, leading to an eventual loss in penis sensation. Shea butter and vitamin E are highly effective natural moisturizers that can penetrate the outer dermal layers and promote soft, smooth, supple skin that appears youthful and healthy.

Enhance penis sensitivity and restore lost penis sensation – Many men experience noticeable loss of penis sensitivity over time. Rough handling from frequent masturbation or aggressive sex can dull the nerve endings, as well as toughen the skin of the penis; in addition, circulatory issues such as damaged blood vessels or reduced blood flow can cause a loss of sensation. Amino acids such as acetyl L carnitine, alpha lipoic acid and L arginine, as well as vitamin B5, are known to promote healing, increase blood flow to the penis, and improve penile sensation by helping to repair damaged nerve cells.

Soothe redness and rash – Red penis skin and rash can result from dry skin or from bacterial or fungal infections. Boosting the body’s ability to fight off disease with important nutrients such as vitamins C and D can help to keep the skin of the penis healthy and prevent minor infections. In addition, applying a moisturizing crème or oil containing vitamins E and A can improve the appearance and texture of the skin’s surface.

Heal sore and irritated penis skin – The penis skin is easily irritated, especially in the presence of chemical cleansers and detergents, friction from overly-restrictive clothing, or even the bodily fluids of sexual partners. Irritated skin can easily develop microscopic cracks and fissures, which lead to further irritation and discomfort and may detract from the enjoyment of sex. Vitamin A, which is found in many healing crèmes and lotions, is known for its healing properties; it can restore and rejuvenate damaged tissue and enhance the appearance of the skin.

To avoid common penis problems and promote overall penis health, it is important to maintain good eating habits, exercise regularly, and keep up-to-date with periodic health checks; in addition, men of all ages should limit their alcohol consumption, avoid tobacco products, and choose sexual partners with care.

Supplementing the daily penis care regimen with penis-specific vitamins and minerals can also promote optimum penis health. However, taking over-the counter vitamins seldom benefits the skin of the penis, as these substances are generally absorbed by the internal organs or eliminated as waste products. A nutrient-rich penis health crèmes (most health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) that is specifically designed to be applied directly to the penis skin can ensure that the sensitive dermal tissue of the penis receives the full benefits of rejuvenating and healing penis vitamins and minerals. All natural treatments that are free of fragrances, dyes and other chemicals are the best bet when it comes to maintaining a healthy penis.

Causes of High White Blood Cell Count

There are several possible causes for a high white blood cell count. This count is high when there are more disease-fighting cells in your body. The technical term for this condition is leukocytosis.

Different medical practices may have different limits by which they define high white blood cell count. A count of 10,500 leukocytes in one microliter of blood is widely accepted as a high count. The threshold may vary between sex and age.

White blood cells are categorized by five subtypes, and each type has a different activity in fighting disease. When you get the results of your white blood cell count, they will usually specify what the levels are of all the different types. Usually, a high count is only caused by an increase in one type of white blood cells.

A high white blood cell count is indicative of an immune system problem that increases their production; a disease in your bone marrow that causes high blood cell production; a reaction to some drug that is used to enhance cell production; or the increase expected when your body is fighting off an infection.

There are some more specific reasons why your white blood cell count may be high:

Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is a cancer that lives in the bone marrow and blood. This disease is a rapidly progressive one. Children are more affected by this than any other type of cancer, although adults can develop the disease as well.

Drugs like epinephrine and corticosteroids can affect your white cell count.

Measles is an infection that affects mainly the respiratory tract. It is very contagious. The signs include skin rash, fever, sore throat, inflamed eyes, runny nose and cough. The measles vaccine is an excellent way to protect children against this disease, but outside of the civilized countries, many children are not vaccinated. This disease will spread rapidly among people who have not had the vaccination.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a serious type of arthritis from which you will experience joint damage and pain. It attacks your joints’ lining and this causes swelling. In turn, that leads to throbbing, aching pain and possibly eventual deformity. Rheumatoid arthritis, also called RA, can make even the easiest of normal activities hard to accomplish.

Some of the other causes of high white blood cell count include:

Stress, be it emotional or physical
Smoking
Tuberculosis
Tissue damage, like one receives with burns
Acute or chronic myelogenous leukemia
Chronic or acute lymphocytic leukemia
Whooping cough
Severe allergic reactions
Myelofibrosis
Polycythemia vera
Other viral infections
Other bacterial infections

Body Purification Therapy in Ayurveda Or Panchakaram

Purification Therapies:

Ayurveda views poor metabolism as the key to the build up of toxins or ama which is the cause of many complex diseases. Periodic Panchakarma treatments prove to be highly effective in eliminating this ama produced during metabolic process and also the impurities accumulated in the body. These panchakarma treatments help the body to release and eliminate toxins completely and to rebalance the doshas that have gone out of balance due to the accumulation of toxins and metabolic wastes.

Panchakarma is a group of 5 treatments- vamana, virechana, snehavasti, kashayavasti and nasya – of which all are not commonly practiced for all diseases. Vamana is emesis, virechana is purging, vasti is enema- which of two kinds done with medicated oils and medicated decoctions and are called snehavasti and kashayavasti respectively. Nasya is instillation of medicines through nose. Susrutha who initiated surgery gives importance to blood-letting also as one of the panchakarma treatments.

Panchakarma treatments are effective both for preventive and curative purposes as well as for ukhachikalsa (Rejuvenation and energizing the body). However, if these panchakarma treatments are not taken at full length and under the proper guidance of Ayurveda doctors, it can damage the body tissues.

Panchakarma is much more than a cleansing regimen. It slows down aging process, strengthens immune system, prevents wrinkles of skin, develops a positive attitude to life, improves digestion and appetite, improve sleep pattern, energizes the body, replaces stress and strain with peace and tranquility, enhances flexibility of joints and muscles, reduce weight, removes fat and help live healthy.

Panchakarma has three phases of actions:

1 Pre-purification phase:

Sirodhara Luke warm herbal oil is poured in a continuous stream onto the forehead, while receiving a gentle massage on the fore head.

Snehapanam is the oral intake of specially prepared medicated ghee (clarified butter) in empty stomach. It is done to lubricate all body channels to push out body toxins.

Thailadhara is a continuous showering and massaging process of the whole body with warm medicated oil. This activates the muscles and nerve endings.

Thakradhara induces coolness to the brain, relaxes the mind, reduces mental stress and increase memory power.Thakradhara means the profuse pouring of medicine-rich buttermilk on the person’s forehead.

Thalam treats headaches, cerebrum-vascular diseases, insomnia, ENT diseases, vertigo etc

In Thalapothichil the person’s scalp is completely applied with high value medicinal pastes. Heals problems related to the head and neck regions.

Udvarthanam This is a typical deep and dry massage using herbal powders. This massage stimulates hair follicles and subcutaneous fat tissue to break down subcutaneous fat storage.

Upanahasweda comprises of the local application of a medicinal paste to treat pain and swelling.

2. Main purification phase

This phase comprises the Panchakarma. Depending on the ailments, one is advised to undergo two or three of the Panchakarma therapies. The doctor decides on the type of treatments suitable for a particular type of person. Ayurveda doctors have to monitor these treatments. Treatments without expert guidance can lead to complications.

Vamanam

Vamanam is induced vomiting and is the first in panchakarma treatments. This process is to be done carefully and needs skilled personnel. It induces expulsion of the contents in the stomach through the mouth. Kapha or kapha dominant diseases like psoriasis, urticaria, bronchial asthma, mental disorders etc can be effectively treated by vamanm treatments. Besides, it also removes wastes from the upper body parts like the chest and lungs area. It is a very effective form of panchakarma treatment.

Vamanam is a continuation of the sneha sweda done the previous day. After administering sneha sweda, the patient is given kapha increasing foods. The next morning, after ablutions and a hot water bath, the patient would be asked to sit in a relaxed manner in an armchair. Milk or sugar cane juice is commonly used for this purpose. The patient drinks as much milk as he can. Then a paste of madana phala, along with yashtimadhu powder vacha, rock salt and honey mixed with milk would be given. Within a short time, the patient feels nauseous and starts vomiting. All impure accumulated kapha will come out. Normally eight bouts are seen. Vomiting is stopped when the pitta or yellow colouration is seen, which is considered the correct symptom. If the bouts are less, vomiting should be by irritating the uvula by touching with the figers or a quill. Then allow the patient to wash his face and fingers with hot water.

Then dhoomapana is done. The smoke should be inhaled through one nostril and exhaled through the mouth which is repeated thrice.

This is followed by paschat-karma. These are mainly food restrictions, called samsarjana kriya. Just after vamana, if the patient is hungry, thin gruel is given. After ascertaining the digestive power, thick gruel, porridge, porridge with meat soup are given. The entire treatment takes 15 days.

However, vamanam is not advisable for pregnant women, the aged , the weak and those suffering from cardiac problems.

Virechanam

Virechanam in panchakarma is a purgation treatment using herbal medicines. It expels impurities from mid zones of the body like the liver, gallbladder and the intestinal tract. Pitta and pitta dominant diseases are cured by this pancha karma treatment. In virechanam, the vitiated doshas are made to pass through the anus. Poorvakarma as done in vamana is also done in virechanam. Though several drugs are mentioned for virechana, trivrit is considered the best and several trivrit combinations are used. It is to be noted that the medicine is given only when the last meal has been digested. Avipathy churna, another medicine, mixed with hot water is given after 9 a.m. No food is given till virechana is over. In proper virechana, the patient passes urine, stool, pitta, medicine, kapha and vata in that order. About 20 purges may be seen . However, it all depends on the patient’s health.

Another mild form of virechana is also used an ayurvedic therapy. It is commonly used to treat various kinds of ailments in which poorvakarma are not necessary.

Kashaya vasti Diseases like hemiplegia and those due to vata are treated well with vasti. However, acute diarrheas, chest lesions, piles, hiccups, are not treated. For kashaya vasti, honey, rock salt, sneham, paste of medicines are required and is mixed one by one in the above order. An emulsion is made by churning all and warming in a water bath. This should be taken on an empty stomach at about 10 a.m. Application is the same as snehavasti. When the bowels are clear, the patient is allowed to take a hot water bath. This should be done after two or three snehavastis. Sneham, paste of medicines and kashayam noted above are selected as per disease and stage.

Nasyam

Nasyam in ayurveda refers to the instillation of medicated oil through the nose. It is the best procedure for the treatment of sirorogas i.e., sodhana of urdhvanga.Nasyam helps to discard the mucous toxins from head and neck channels.

In Pancha karma therapy, nasyam treatment involves application of warm oil to the shoulder and neck of the patient with the patient lying supine and tips his head back. Lightly warmed oil is dropped into each nostril. The patient should inhale deeply. The usual dose is 8 drops but this varies according to the disease and its nature. The timings are morning in kapha diseases, noon in pitta diseases and evening in vata diseases. After the nasya, the shoulder, face, palm and sole of limbs should be massaged briskly for few minutes. Dhoomapana and gargling with hot water should be done afterwards. Nasya should not be done continuously for more than seven days.

Vasthi

The most important of the therapies in Panchakarma involves the introduction of herbal oils and decoctions into the colon through the rectum.

Kateevasthi

Is a warm oil treatment done by retaining certain amount of warm medicated oil on the lower back of the body, for about 40 to 50 minutes. Sirovasti is the retention of warm medicated oil over the head for a certain amount of time. is a warm oil treatment done by retaining certain amount of warm medicated oil on the lower back of the body for about 40 to 50 minutes. Sirovasti is the retention of warm medicated oil over the head for a certain amount of time. Urovasti. A mixture of warm herbal oil is allowed to stay on the chest with the help of herbal paste enclosure.

Urovasti A mixture of warm herbal oil is allowed to stay on the chest with the help of herbal paste enclosure.

3. The Post purification phase

Once the Panchakarma treatments are over, rehabilitative measures are given which include guidelines on diet, lifestyle and other things. If not followed the effects of the treatments would diminish. Doctors prescribe various Ayurveda formulations such as kashayams lehyams etc. to fortify body cells and tissues, massage oils and kuzhambu for body and joint lubrication.

Rasayana or Rejuvenation Therapy

Rasayana therapy is followed along with the Panchakarma treatments or afterwards. For getting maximum results out of the Rasayana therapy, the two main forms oushadh (Medicines) and Acharyas (Behavior/deeds) need to be followed. Medicines and diet prescribed by doctors have to be taken and these have effects on the body tissues, digestive juices, doshas etc, while the behavior or habit of a person influences the mind, soul and sensory faculties.

Ayurveda offers extensive Rasayana therapies. The aim of Rasayana is to keep the enzymes in the tissue cells in their normal functioning condition. It nourishes, restores and balances the body functions and maintains the overall health and well being of an individual. Mind is made calm and peaceful, nerves and bones are kept soft and sooth. These, to a very large extend, prevent the ageing process and also free the person from diseases even during an old age.

he person will be able to see things like before and the sharpness of hearing and vision continues. The glow in his face and the colour of his skin remains as before. It is with this in view one has to resort to rejuvenation therapy. There are case histories were persons of 65 years could increase testosterones level from 190 to 300.

Two forms of Rasayana treatments are presentlyavailable: the shorter version (Vaataatapika) and the longer version (Kuteepraaveshika).

An Ayurveda therapeutic plan is comprehensive of Panchakarma treatments , diet, nutritional supplements, herbal medicines, yoga prescription, daily health-routine, and relaxation techniques. Extra precautions are taken by doctors for people with specific type of ailment. Ayurveda recommends that pregnant women should not undergo Panchakarma treatments. Women should also be careful to plan their treatment to avoid menstrual disturbances during the course . It should also be noted that panchakarma treatments should not be administered to children under 8 years and to those over 80.

Dangerous Intestinal Candida Symptoms You Have to Keep an Eye On

Intestinal Candida symptoms may be very hard to diagnose. The chances for a successful treatment depend on the severity of each sign present. Although it may sound difficult, prompt action must be done to prevent more serious complications.

Obvious and hidden symptoms may vary from one person to another. Who ever is diagnosed early has a higher possibility of regaining it healthy body in shorter time.

Since Candida infection is caused by overgrowth of yeast-like fungus, called Candida albicans, in your body, it will be also normalized once you have a successful treatment.

Intestinal Candida symptoms differ quite a lot from other signs that are also caused by Candidiasis. You will also have a harder time to distinguish from the symptoms of many other diseases. Your intestine is the normal habitat of the Candida albicans fungus.

And because your intestines are their home, therefore it is also the major target of attack by the yeast infection. Once the fungus can penetrate your colon wall, it will eventually spread all over the body, affecting almost all the organs in the body from your skin to your brain.

These symptoms are well distinguished and experienced by sufferers of Candidiasis, such as colitis, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, food allergies, gas, irritable bowel syndrome, rectal itching, intestinal ulcers, leaky gut syndrome intestinal ulcers and sugar cravings.

If you’re suffering from intestinal Candida symptoms, it is essential that you treat your infection immediately, diligently and carefully. Candida albicans is an organism that will sooner or later wipe out your good health making it harder for you to recover, or if not, may leave some permanent complications. It may take you months and years, rather than the usual three to six weeks therapy.

A natural Candida remedy is beneficial, like cleansing your body by fasting, and then indulging your body with a yeast free diet. This is 100% yeast control method and will dramatically end the symptoms of your infection.

Symptoms that You Have to Keep an Eye On:

Leaky Gut Syndrome – This is often referred to as increased intestinal permeability. This happens when you partially broken down food and the toxins get into your bloodstream via the holes that are made by the fungus.

Oral Thrush – Are profound white-colored deposits inside your mouth or within your cheeks. This can bleed once you scrape it.

Diarrhea – This is watery bowel movement. This may lead to your dehydration if not resolved immediately.

Constipation – You find trouble in defecating as defined by presence of hardened stools.

Rectal Itching Skin – This is an inflammation around your rectum.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) – It is a persistent disease of the intestinal area commonly defined by fever, pain in your abdomen, diarrhea, weight loss, rectal bleeding, diarrhea, and eye and skin irritations.

Flatulence – This is the release of gases from your body.

On the other hand, if you continue to ignore the symptoms of infection like indigestion and bloating, more serious symptom may develop, like:

• Toxic liver

• Food allergies

• Skin disorders

• Fatigue

• Urinary tract infection

• Concentration problems and

• Aching joints and muscles

You have to remember that the best way to treat symptoms of Candida infection is with the use of natural remedies. Natural remedies not only treat Candida but also boost your immune system.

Allergies – Ayurveda Treatment

Allergies refers to an exaggerated reaction by our immune system in response to bodily contact with certain foreign substances. These foreign substances are usually harmless. But, in a person whose body is prone to allergies, these foreign substances are recognized by the body and one part of the immune system is turned on. Allergy-producing substances are called as ‘allergens’. Examples include pollens, dust mite, molds, danders, and certain foods.

Any substance, whatever its origin, is a possible allergen. Allergens cause the production of immunoglobulin E (IgE), an antibody that all of us have in small amounts. Allergic persons, however, produce IgE in abnormally quantities. Normally, this antibody is important in protecting us from parasites, but not from other allergens.

As per Ayurveda, foods are just aliens when we ingest them. These aliens are treated by the Agni (fire) of the body to change into compatible foods for the body. When the Agni doesn’t work properly, toxins get produced and accumulation of these toxins reduces the immunity of the body and gives rise to the immunity related diseases. Allergies occur when a hypersensitive immune system reacts to a common or unusual substance.

The word allergy is derived from the Greek words “allos,” meaning different or changed and “ergos,” meaning work or action. People prone to allergies are said to be allergic or atopic. Although allergies can develop at any age, the risk of developing it is genetic. It is related to ones family history of allergy. Ayurvedic medicine has also found that eliminating allergens from the body will help alleviate symptoms associated with chronic fatigue syndrome. If an individual suffers from allergies all year long, he/she might want to consider visiting an ayurvedic practitioner. Ayurvedic medicine works on increasing the sensitivity & nervine strength of immunity of the respiratory system .

Following ayurvedic medicines, under the guidance of an Ayurvedic practitioner, could be used by an individual who is prone to allergies:

-Medicated oil specially prepared for Nasya ‘Anu tail’ is very effective.

-For Vata & Kapha – Trikatu, basil, cloves, camphor, and coriander may be used.

-To ease Kapha aggravation, guduchi tablets may be taken along with basil, cloves, and  camphor.

-For skin allergy – Neem Capsule, Neem Oil, Khadiraristam, Nimbasavam, Haridrakhandam, Agasthya rasayan.

-For Allergy of the Respiratory System – Agasthya rasayan, Nimbarajanyadi tablet, Spetilin Tablet, Septilin syrup, Kanchanar guggulu, Anu Oil.

-For healthy resistance to all airborne allergens – Agasthya rasayan, Nimbarajanyadi tablet, Spetilin Tablet, Septilin syrup, Kanchanar guggulu, Anu Oil-Cutis Oil (Vasu Pharmaceuticals), Haridra Capsules (Himalaya).

– Anti-allergy herbs include: turmeric, Picrorhiza kurroa, Tinospora Cordifolia, and Triphala.

Alternative Treatments For Autism, Asperger Syndrome and Autism Herbs

Asperger’s Disorder (commonly misspelled as asberger’s) is a milder variant of Autistic Disorder. Both Asperger’s Disorder and Autistic Disorder are in fact subgroups of a larger diagnostic category. This larger category is called either Autistic Spectrum Disorders or Pervasive Developmental Disorders (“PDD”).

Prognosis of an autistic child is rather poor: typically only one in twenty will display any improvement by adulthood. There is not a specific medical treatment for autism, however, there are quite a few alternative treatments for autism that have shown promise in behavior outcomes.

Vitamin B6 has shown promise in correcting abnormal metabolite excretion from a tryptophan load test. Autism Asperger syndrome given B6 have shown significant improvement overall, with true B6 deficiency present. This alternative treatment for autism may have some minor side effects of irritability, sound sensitivity and bed wetting, however, these can be resolved by giving magnesium in conjunction with B6. If B complex in addition to magnesium is given, better eye contact, less self-stimulating behavior, increased interest in surrounding environment, fewer tantrums and increased speech has been displayed.

As far as autism herbs, the best response I have ever seen is with a flower remedy tincture called Rescue Remedy. During those scary moments of an autism Asperger syndrome tantrum or outburst, applying a few drops of Rescue Remedy under the tongue (if not possible due to combative behavior, applying a few drops of the tincture directly to the center of their forehead) has shown great results in immediate calming behavior. Ginkgo biloba is a powerful free radical destroyer that protects the brain. It also improves function by increasing circulation to the brain and has shown great success as an alternative treatment for autism Asperger syndrome.

DMG (dimethylglycine) has shown great results in enriched vocabulary, construction of simple sentences, overall improved mental state, and improved concentration. The effect is usually seen within the first two weeks of administration, but you are encouraged to wait one month before discontinuing.

The other key factors that need to be addressed as alternative treatments for autism are general bowel detoxification, candida, food allergies and intestinal permeability. Sensitivity to gluten and milk are thought to be the major food allergens in autism Asperger syndrome. Eliminating aspartame and food dyes from the diet has shown great promise in correcting sound hypersensitivity and lessening tantrums. An impaired immune system in autism increases susceptibility to food allergies and sensitivities. Candida overgrowth contributes as well. The autistic individual may show signs of headache, stomachache, nausea, bed-wetting, stuttering, whining, crying, insomnia, hyperactivity, aggression, temper tantrums, gas, diarrhea or constipation, leg aches, ear infections, pink or black circles around the eyes and excessive perspiration. These can all be eliminated by following an antifungal treatment as well as following a food allergy elimination diet. If behavior problems occur prior to meals you may need to address possible hypoglycemia.

Autistic individuals are very special people and offer society great rewards, however, this condition requires specialized behavioral and psychological attention. Often times that autistic individual in your life can be your greatest disappointment but quite often your greatest joy.

Six Activities to Combat Temporary Depression Without Medication

Depression is intense sadness which makes us feel tired, hopeless, helpless, and worthless. It robs many of us of happiness and denies us the energy to go about our daily lives. Depression is caused by a physical change in your brain’s chemistry, which can last for a few hours to a few days. So, what can you do when you become depressed? I have listed six activities which can help conquer depression that you can do without taking medication.

1. Exercise. Walking, running, swimming, lifting weights are excellent physical activities. Moving your body for over 10 minutes increases blood circulation which impacts your brain in a soothing way. When you exercise intensely endorphins are released, which are hormones that attach to receptors in your brain. The result is a calm feeling of happiness and well-being.

2. Take a shower or bath. When you take a shower or bath, you surround your body in warm or hot water that is lower than your body temperature. The higher the water temperature, the hotter the water. Warm or hot water has a calming effect on the body and mind. Plus, you are doing others a favor because it makes you smell better too.

3. Take a nap. Depression can be caused by lack of sleep which can run you down to the point of feeling tired. You may have confusing thoughts that need to rest. Taking an hour nap will help your mind rest. It can restore your positive emotions and clear your thoughts.

4. Meditate. Meditation is a state of deep peace that occurs when you put your body in a comfortable, still position which helps your mind focus on one thought or feeling. It specifically reduces worrying which bombards your mind with several or more troubling thoughts or ideas. Meditation allows you to focus on one thought by eliminating all other thoughts.

5. Smile. You may not feel like smiling, but studies have shown that if you pretend to smile, it actually makes you feel better. When other people see you smile it usually makes them want to smile too.

6. Listen to Music. Do you listen to music that makes you feel good? Do you have a favorite type of music such as jazz, rock, classical? The combination of the rhythms of musical instruments playing simultaneously to create a song or group of songs can elevate your mood and restore calm thoughts. Also, listening to much slower, peaceful music such as a harp or slow piano songs, calms nerves and helps the mind to relax.

Relieving temporary depression can be done by engaging in one or more of the six activities I have listed. All of them can eliminate acute sadness, by elevating mood, calming nerves, and heightening well-being. Of course, there are other many other activities you might know of to combat it. However, if you are struggling with depression on an ongoing basis, you probably need to seek a psychologist.

Monophobia Is More Than a Fear of Being Alone

Monophobia is not a particularly common condition. There are a lot of people who think that they have it but most really don’t. The main reason for the confusion is that there is a difference between having monophobia and just not liking being alone. Most people fall into the latter category and while they may have an issue that they need to deal with it is not monophobia. There are some very definite symptoms that you need to look for to determine if you have monophobia or not.

A lot of people don’t like to be alone, this is actually quite normal. Some people are in fact so uncomfortable with being alone that they will go to great lengths to avoid it. This does not however mean that they suffer from monophobia. Monophobia is an irrational fear of being alone that goes far beyond just being uncomfortable being alone. It is important to make sure that you understand the difference so that you can recognize whether or not you have a problem.

The main difference between monophobia and a fear of being alone is that people who suffer from monophobia actually feel unsafe when they are alone. Most people who are not comfortable with being on their own feel this way mainly because they have never had to get used to it. In these cases it is more a feeling of being lonely than of being afraid to be alone.

In the case of monophobia there is an actual fear involved and an irrational one at that. These fears almost always go back to childhood, usually because something bad happened when you were alone. People with this phobia actually feel like they are not safe when they are alone and they will panic if they are placed in this situation. This is very different from simply feeling lonely.

The other big difference between monophobia and a simple fear of being alone is that there will be physical symptoms in the case of monophobia. These symptoms usually occur because there is a panic attack. The result will be rapid breathing, heavy sweating and a fast heartbeat. In fact one of the reasons that people with monophobia are so afraid to be by themselves is that they expect that they will have a panic attack. If you have no physical symptoms than there is a pretty good chance that you do not in fact have monophobia.

ADD and ADHD With Cognitive Anxiety – 7 Tips to Recognize This Frequent ADHD Symptom

Which Anxiety Are We Treating?

Anxiety with ADHD can be difficult to assess and quite refractory to treat. Often whatever medications are tried, just don’t work effectively, and many can significantly contribute to emotional deterioration with impulsivity and depression. The most frequently overlooked anxiety is ‘cognitive anxiety’ and the reason it is overlooked is simple: descriptively, on the surface, it looks like OCD – obsessive compulsive disorder. Obsessions can be a part, can be a symptom, but let’s look more deeply at the cause.

And don’t be surprised if your doctor doesn’t agree with these next remarks, they are not yet in the standard diagnostic text.

7 Tips To Recognize Cognitive Anxiety:

  1. Look first for Worry, for ‘Unmanageable Cognitive Abundance.’ Anxiety presents in our offices when it becomes unmanageable, when life becomes frozen with indecision. Thinking too much can result in three repetitive outcomes discussed below.
  2. Remember Cognitive Anxiety is Subtle, and if you don’t look you won’t see it. Many have so much cognitive anxiety they simply don’t recognize it. If you ask the simple question: “Are you anxious?” the most frequent answer is negative. Word the question like this: “Do you worry, do you think to much and too often about small things and find yourself thinking so much you can’t get things done – that you feel overwhelmed?” This form is the most frequently missed form of counterproductive thinking.
  3. OCD is Not the Only Cognitive Diagnosis: Don’t ask the question only looking for OCD, – yes, OCD can be associated with cognitive abundance. But OCD can present as a symptom for a ‘spectrum of disorders,’ not only ADHD. Use the history to tease out the ADHD details over time. ADHD most often has an academic history except with the Decisive Form below.
  4. A – The Stuck Form: One form of ADHD with cognitive anxiety becomes stuck on the details, and presents as overwhelmed and indecisive. They think so much, about so many details, they simply can’t decide. They need a life partner to decide the next moves. These folks start falling apart in the 5th, 6th, or 7th grades, most often the 6th because the work load changes.
  5. B- The Decisive Form: This form of ADHD is compulsively decisive, a hard worker, shows no ‘inattention,’ but rather runs around fixing and making decisions to preclude thinking to much. They often decide quickly, often do it well, but come in because they too are overwhelmed with micromanagement and picky details thinking they are the only one who can ‘do it right.’ These individuals often do well all the way through school, become professionals, and have no idea what is driving their ‘compulsive’ work driven motor. They can’t stand trash in their mind.
  6. C- The Combo Form; Some individuals with pervasive cognitive anxiety wax and wane between these latter two subtypes. At work they can be strong and decisive as they understand the context and have mastered that game. At home they may have trouble with family, with errands and lack of structure. The spouse often wonders why they are so effective over there, but so ineffective here.
  7. Cognitive Anxiety Treatment Considerations: If the cognitive anxiety is primarily ADHD in origin, it should be carefully treated with stimulant medications. See the details in my many other Therapeutic Window Articles here regarding dosage strategies. As noted above, watch for SSRI reactions, and drug-drug interactions outlined in detail on my website below if the diagnosis includes depressive elements. SSRIs aggravate ADHD when not combined with a stimulant strategy.

Definition of Acute Depression

Depression is the word that nobody would want to hear. Millions across the world get affected by various forms every year. One of the types is known as acute depression. It is also known as major depressive disorder or clinical depression. It is one of the most severe forms and less common as compared to the all other forms. The exact cause has still not been discovered. Psychological changes, biological changes, stress, loss of loved ones, physical disability, divorce and environmental changes are the common causes.

Following are the most commonly observed symptoms that will help you to distinguish between acute and other types of depression: The common symptoms are:

1. Considerable loss of interest enjoyable activities.

2. Constant sadness, anxiety or blues all the time.

3. Sleeping problems, sufferer usually exhibits Insomnia disorder. Insomnia causes difficulty to get off to sleep, early morning wake ups, less sleep than normal, disrupted sleep. In some cases symptoms of hypomania are also exhibited by the patients. Hypomania causes too much sleep than the normal sleep; sufferer finds it difficult to get out of the bed.

Toe Nail Fungus Remedy

Types of toe nail fungus remedy: There are two ways to destroy the toe nail fungus. One is the home remedy methods which utilizes the home culinary stuffs to fight the infection. The other one is the meditative method which utilizes the chemicals to kill the fungus.

Anti-fungal medications: There are two meditative methods to clear the infection. Topical ointments which are applied on the outside surface of the infected nails that helps to clear the infections. The other one is the tablets, which when taken orally can help to cure the toenail fungal infection.

Topical ointments: The treatment utilizes many active ingredients that are effective against the oncomycete fungi. These active ingredients kill the fungus by destroying their cell wall. In contrast some of the ointments take advantage of the anaerobic environment where the fungus thrives. To kill them, the ointment provides aerobic condition by filling the infected area with oxygen. Due to the increased level of oxygen, the fungus are destroyed and in turn the increased level of oxygen can help the re growth of the nails faster.

Oral tablets: This is one of the common ways to treat the fungal infection. Tablets like lamicine are the most common tablets that are used against the infections. These tablets should be taken twice daily until the fungal infection disappears. These have the active components that when get mixed up with the blood stream, effectively clears the infection. The advantage of using them is that the cure can be very effective and fast. But for some who are allergic to certain components can suffer from side effects like nausea, vomiting, headaches etc.

Home remedy: Home remedy is one of the most common treatments for the fungal infection. Treatment with alcohol, vinegar, tea tree oil and many more has been followed since ancient times to give a permanent cure to the toenail fungus problems. The disadvantage is that it might take a little longer time as compared with the treatment with tablets. The advantage is that, the remedy is completely organic in nature mostly from the plant sources and can very rarely have any kind of side effects.

Supination – What Exactly is it and How Can I Fix It?

What Is Supination?

Supination in the foot occurs normally in the gait cycle when the foot returns to a stable position before push off of. Excessive supination is associated with high arches and is a tendency for the foot to roll outward…or not to move inward (pronate) enough during the gait cycle. As your heel lifts from the ground and the weight moves to the ball of foot area and toes to push the body forward, a natural amount of supination occurs. Over-supination may cause you to appear bow-legged.

The natural movement that is the opposite of supination is called pronation. This occurs when the outer edge of your heel hits the ground and the foot rolls inward. If overpronation occurs during standing, an individual may appear knock-kneed. Pronation and supination are natural movements in your gait cycle, however, with overpronation or over-supination occur, foot problems often follow.

Overpronation is more common than over-supination, but either problem needs addressed. Too much supination causes an issue because the foot is less able to provide shock absorption. It also causes extra rotational force on the feet, shin, knees and thighs, adding further stress on muscles, tendons and ligaments.

What Problems Can Excessive Supination Cause?

Supination places extra strain on both muscles and tendons that stabilize the ankle. This can lead to a number of foot problems which may include:

– Ankle sprains

– Ligament ruptures

– Arch pain

– Heel pain

– Knee pain

– Hip pain

– Back pain

– Corns and calluses

– Achilles tendonitis

– Shin splints

– Stress fractures

– Plantar Fasciitis

– Metatarsalgia

– and more…

How Can I Tell if I Over Supinate?

To see if supination could be a problem for you, look at your feet while you are standing to see if there is a high arch at the inside of the foot that doesn’t move toward the floor much when you stand or walk. This is one clue. Also, look at your shoes. If your shoes are worn mostly on the outside of the sole, especially around the ball of foot area, you may have excess supination when you walk.

Another method is to examine a wet footprint. If the area between the heel and ball of foot shows only a thin strip at the outside part (little toe side) of your foot and you see no print at all in the arch area, supination may be occurring. A normal footprint should have a strip that is approximately half the width of the foot. Pronated feet often fill the footprint all the way through the arch.

Can I Prevent or Treat Supinated Feet?

Excessive supination (or pronation) is a biomechanical and foot alignment issue. A pedorthist or podiatrist may complete an assessment and gait analysis to determine the specific alignment and biomechanical problems and prescribe foot orthotics (arch supports) to help you. Foot orthotic insoles work to distribute your weight more evenly and to correct or accommodate abnormal foot posture. They are usually the best option for treatment of supinated feet.

Your choice of footwear is also important when supination is a problem. You should search for shoes that match your foot type. A general rule of thumb is more stability for pronators and more cushion for supinators, but reasonable shoe stability is still important. Make sure they are the most appropriate size and are not too tight or too loose. Try on shoes in the later half of the day because your feet swell a bit as the day goes on and will be slightly larger. Also try both feet, because one will be a bit bigger than the other and you should fit to the larger one. Wear the socks you plan to wear when using your shoes. Feet with over supination often have a high instep, so laces are important for the ability to adjust this area. Running shoes tend to be best for supinated feet to give a good combination of cushion and stability.

These are just a few measures that may be necessary to decrease your risk of injury due to supination. One of the best ways to deal with supination problems is by using arch supports or foot orthotics designed for high arches or supination. These redistribute pressure away from the pressure points of supinated feet and provide better shock absorption. Custom foot orthotics are an option, but expensive. The best over the counter foot orthotics providers offer specifics for different conditions and different areas of pain.

Living Alone with Hemiparesis

Safety would be the primary concern of course when people with hemiparesis live alone or are alone for extended amounts of time. Of course your first references are your doctor, physical therapist and occupational therapists especially. This being stated, I can offer insights on some important items to consider in practical aspects of living alone after a traumatic brain injury or a stroke that result in a severe muscle weakness along the left or right side of the body and is sometimes exhibited in slight nerve damage as with me. Perhaps instead of living by them selves, it would be better to consider us living independently. At this writing, I will have reached almost thirty years of living with hemiparesis. Most of this time I was living alone and working as an engineer and writer, author.

For us, the detrimental effects of hemiparesis are still prevalent even after initial rehabilitation and limited recovery. The effects can change with extreme variation.

Effects When Tired or Awoken

When the body is tired, effects can be worse and certainly more dangerous when living alone. An example is if awoken in the night, maybe by thirst, a call, or other concern. Even a healthy person could possibly stumble on sleepy legs or with eyes half open, but for those with left or right hemiparesis, the negative effects are magnified. A stumble can turn into a fall and possibly a head injury since one arm has poor strength, does not react quickly and is not likely to stop a fall. If a foot drags slightly during the day with shoes, then it can be so much worse at night even so unsafe that the person will roll over the toes so as to bruise them and fall forward on the weak side. Lessons learned here emphasize the need for uncluttered floors and hallways. A stray shoe on the floor or even newspaper can prove disastrous. Either could throw off the balance suddenly for a waking person especially in the dark.

This brings up a suggestion for low level lighting in the home or apartment. Economical battery operated motion detector lights are available at many stores now or a search online. Even if a cane is not needed during the day; it would be wise to have a cane near the bed, even a quad cane for late night awakenings or an early morning rising. In the morning, there are other issues as tightened up leg muscles that need stretching before safely moving.

Shower and Bathroom Safety

Morning stretching is important, especially as we who are injured age but more importantly, shower safety needs to be addressed. There is much assistive devices available and occupational therapists can communicate effectively the needs here, however I can give you my thoughts. These are that it can be quite scary at times, especially if you have had an accident, falling in the shower, tub or bathroom before. You will need to be able to have something within reach on your good side to grab onto, basically at all times. Please note that if you can’t use the screwed in support rails and use the bars with suction cups, you really need at least two bars together. Redundant support as these are known t slip and when you have water or soap in your eyes and reach out with the bar slipping, it can be devastating. I would recommend having a bar on the entry or exit and on the opposite side. This way if a person with hemiparesis turns around there is always a bar on the good side.

But it does not stop there. Bathroom floors are usually smooth surfaces and with one foot having no or minimal grab, then any water on a smooth tile or marble surface is like ice and can easily cause a fall when drying. Rubber backed rugs are most often used but can bunch up under feet. A work around solution for these throw rugs is rubber strips with adhesive on both sides. The local hardware store will have some rug grippers or search the web

Dressing

This is an area again where an occupational therapist assures you are prepared with any assistive devices for reaching around the weak side or fastening in back and collar. However, I can emphasize that so much more time needs to be available, just in case. Even though, there are assistive devices and there is ample training in doing this usually available before even leaving the hospital.

Food Preparation, Cooking Kitchen Safety

One’s ability to prepare meals will vary. I understand it’s good to be independent but in the kitchen it just may be smarter to minimize preparation with knives or stovetop. Even the oven can cause burns and fire easily. Having a cardboard pizza box fall onto a hot broiler iron can start a fire that is not too easy for someone with a disability to put out quickly. Sure there are now small convenient fire extinguishers available but some often need two good hands to operate correctly and then even finding it quickly can be an issue for trauma, brain injury or stroke victims.

Fortunately, there has been an improvement In microwave dinners. This certainly would not be your first option in the past. However, I have been at this for almost thirty years now and I really have seen a great variety come on the market and costs go down. Good, healthy dinners can be cooked in one minute. I still bake chicken and pizze plus a few others but safety really needs to bethe forst priority. Losing balance and reaching out to find as hot frying pan to lean on can happen and I have personal experience, it’s not a quick heal having a burn in the palm of your good hand. Agsin here as in the bathroom, a rug with rubber backing and rug grabbers should be required.

Mind Body Health Needs

Concentration and Focus are the key in most everything that the person with hemiparesis might have to overcome. That is why ongoing brain training is so important.

Human interaction, relationships contribute greatly to complex usage of our brain and even helping to stay young. Well living alone minimizes this benefit ad over time can have an adverse effect. Sure, some will say the upward potential may be limited but start with the objective of not losing ability. Without regular exercise, mind or body can atrophy to borrow a term used to describe not using muscles.

There are free and paid sources on the web. There are now brain improvement magazines at the local supermarket and brain games are popular and effective, most even for one hand use.

Geographic Area Specific Issues

Depending on your locality, power outages can occur during natural events mostly as snow or ice storms, hurricanes, tornadoes. When living on the eastern coast, I lost power even when their was a high windstorm. Natural events as this can have an impact on people living with hemiparesis just as they do for others with a disability, elderly or families in general. However preparedness is the key here and living alone increases importance of having battery lighting, food, water, cell phone, radio, all available and easily attainable in possibly in the dark.

The power loss may be worse in cold weather for this condition as detrimental effects can disable some people with this extreme muscle weakness and possibly nerve damage. This varies of course depending on person or injury but in general arms and legs can start shaking uncontrollably and a serious limitation to mobility. Poor effects are also exhibit in sudden changes of weather. Each person may experience this differently but a check with your physician is best.

To assist in times as these, warm clothing, even a safe generator where it can be installed in a home as a backup are suggestions with heat packs available at sporting good stores or camping supply shop.

Summary

Some of the techniques and tips outlined here may seem obvious to some or simple but they are not always thought of ahead of time before they are used. This is evident in support forums online, knowing individuals and my own thirty years of living with hemiparesis. There are of course more but in general, consideration that movements can be slow at times as can thinking. An important point is if there is a loss of balance or tripping, it will most likely be on the weak side which of course doesn’t react fast nor have enough hand strength usually to hang on to something firmly. This is why safety is the first priority when living alone with this injury.

I Have Blood In My Poop!

You probably don’t want to yell “I have blood in my poop!” when you’re standing in a crowd. However, if you turn around one day and see bloody stools in the toilet, it’s certainly something you might be screaming inside your head. Seeing blood is bad enough, seeing your own blood is worse. When you start seeing blood in your poop, that’s gone too far. If you’ve just exclaimed to yourself, “I have blood in my poop!”, what could be the problem? What should you do?

There are actually quite a few reasons why you might have blood in your poop. Some of them could be serious. Most of them are not. The first thing you need to ask yourself is, “How do I know it’s blood?” You may not have realized this before, but there are actually several foods that can make your poop look bloody. Tomatoes and beets can turn your stools red. That makes sense now that you think about it, doesn’t it? Other possibilities include blueberries, licorice, iron supplements, Pepto-Bismol–all of these can turn your stools black, which looks a lot like blood in your poop. So the first thing you need to eliminate as a cause is your diet. Have you eaten any of these foods or taken any of these substances in the last 18 hours?

If food is not the cause of your strange-looking stools, then you probably should accept the likelihood that you actually do have blood in your poop. By itself, this certainly isn’t the end of the world. But here’s the thing–you need to call up your doctor and tell him, “I have blood in my poop!” Or, you might want to wait until you’re back in one of those private exam room. It’s your decision. But don’t delay making an appointment to see your doctor. Most causes of blood in your poop are minor. But it’s important for you to know for sure.

The very first thing that your doctor will want to know is what color your stools were. The obvious answer is “red,” but not all bloody poop is red. The actual color depends on where the problem is. The farther up your digestive tract the bleeding is occurring, the darker the blood will be. You see, as blood passes through your intestines, bacteria works to digest it like food. The chemical changes that bacteria cause darkens the color of the blood. The longer it stays inside your body, the darker it gets.

So what does this all mean? Well, bright red blood in your stool most likely was added just before exiting your body. The most common causes of bright red blood in your poop are hemorrhoids and anal fissures. Hemorrhoids can begin to bleed when you strain during a bowel movement or even when you wipe a little too roughly. Anal fissures are also quite sensitive to straining and may cause you to have bloody poop. If this is the cause of your problem, the doctor will probably encourage you to drink more fluids and deal with any possible causes of constipation. Another remedy that will provide great results is a colon cleanse. Natural colon cleaners help to remove old waste matter that may be contributing to your constipation.

Darker blood in your stools means that the cause is more likely in your stomach or small intestine. One of the most common causes of blood from your stomach is a bleeding ulcer. Although this sounds dangerous, it’s often a result of taking medication. Even over-the-counter medications like aspirin or ibuprofen can lead to ulcers that cause no pain but that bleed into your digestive tract. If your doctor believes that this is a likely cause, he may recommend a change in medications.

Why is it so important to tell your doctor about blood in your poop? The problem could be caused by bleeding from intestinal polyps. Polyps are not that dangerous by themselves, but there is a possibility that polyps could develop into colon cancer. This type of cancer is much more likely in people over age 50. If that describes you, then you should not hesitate to get screened for colon cancer. Although colon cancer is one of the major cancer killers, it’s also very easy to prevent. By discovering and removing polyps before they turn cancerous, colon cancer can be completely prevented. Whenever you notice anything that might indicate digestive tract bleeding, call your doctor immediately and tell him, “I have blood in my poop!”

Ovarian Cyst Pain Relief – How to Find Comfort in Natural Ways

Many women develop a benign ovarian cyst at some point in their lives. When this happens their first thought may be how to treat the cyst, when in fact, in most cases, no treatment for the cyst itself is necessary. These growths will eventually disappear by themselves but in the meantime they can cause a great deal of pain and discomfort. If you are looking for ovarian cyst pain relief you should know that over the counter pain medications are not your only available route. There are several natural ways you can alleviate the pain and make yourself much more comfortable.

Heat is truly a miracle cure when it comes to ovarian cyst pain. Most of us have tried heat as a remedy for painful menstrual cramps and it works very well. The same approach does wonders for the discomfort you may be experiencing from a cyst. An electric heating pad is the most effective and convenient approach. You can also use a hot water bottle. This works just as well but tends to be a bit bulky and can be uncomfortable as well. Don’t discount the value of having a warm bath when the pain is severe. It’s both soothing and relaxing.

Tea, herbal tea in particular, can also offer much needed ovarian cyst pain relief. Raspberry leaf tea is a great choice and can be found in virtually all health food stores. Just brew a cup when the pain is bothering you and sip it slowly. Many women find that adding this tea to their daily menu plan helps keep the pain at bay. It’s also a good alternative to coffee as it contains no caffeine and caffeine can stimulate your nerve endings making the pain that much more intense.
