Top 3 Most Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) might not be as common as the common cold, but the variety of STDs and the number of people who have contracted them are already very significant in number for us to be able to list the top 3 most common sexually transmitted disease. Along with the list is a short description of the condition, along with its symptoms.

Syphilis, also known as Syph, Pox and Bad Blood, is one of the most common sexually transmitted disease. This disease is usually passed or acquired due to direct contact with the wound or the sore. This is passed on by bacteria that are called spirochetes that can get inside your body during sexual activity. Upon getting into your body, they go further and go to your blood and internal organs. The incubation period of this disease is about ten days to three months, averaging at about 21 days. This common sexually transmitted disease’s symptoms are, at first, sores that are painless, which usually indicate where the germs entered. The next symptoms are rashes, loss of hair, and sore throat, among others. These signs are usually gone in about two to four weeks, but if this goes untreated, these symptoms might reappear in later years.

Gonorrhea, also has the nickname GC, Drip, and Clap, is another common sexually transmitted disease. This disease is usually passed through direct contact between mucous membranes that are infected, such as the genitals, anus, and the mouth of one person with mucous membranes of another. Contaminated fingers can pass the organism from infected mucous membranes to the eyes as well. Sometimes, there are no symptoms experienced from this common sexually transmitted disease, but for those that experience symptoms, these are burning and probably painful urination and pus discharges for the men because of the infection of the urethra, while a vaginal discharge may be experienced by the women. Complications that might be acquired from this STD are pelvic inflammatory disease, sterility for men and women, arthritis, blindness, meningitis, heart damage, kidney damage and skin rashes, among others.

HIV/AIDS or Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection/ Acquired Immune Deficiency is another common sexually transmitted disease. This disease first occurred in Africa and thereafter spread to the Caribbean Islands. It was reported in the USA in 1981, and later on cases were reported in other countries. This sexually transmitted disease spread so rapidly and so widely that it soon occurred in epidemic proportions in several courtiers of the world. The case for this disease is currently pandemic. There are several modes of transmission of this disease. HIV/AIDS may be transmitted through sexual contact, blood transfusion, contaminated tools such as syringes, needles, nippers and razor blades, direct contact with an open wound or mucous membranes with contaminated blood, body fluids, semen and vaginal discharges. Symptoms of this disease are loss of appetite, weight loss, fever of unknown origin, malaise, persistent diarrhea, tuberculosis, and skin cancer, among others. In the early stages, a person with this disease may experience loss of concentration, loss of libido, apathy, psychomotor retardation and withdrawal.

Prevention is one’s best ally against these diseases, and knowledge about these common sexually transmitted diseases is one of the best steps one could ever take as a precaution. The next best thing to do is to get tested to ensure that one is not afflicted with this disease.

Costume Jewellery and Fashion Accessories: Industry Report 2011

The Jewellery and Fashion industry has remained reasonably buoyant throughout the last two years despite the global downturn. I’m going to detail the reasons for this and discuss the prospects for 2011 and beyond.

Costume jewellery (or fashion jewellery, as it also known), can be defined as any jewellery made from non-precious metals such as gold. Normally it does not contain any precious or semi-precious stone or pearls either, although in some high end cases, it might, particularly the designer jewellery market. This is not to say that it is always inexpensive, Kenneth Jay Lane’s (known as the god father of costume jewellery) vintage pieces, have been known to sell at Christie’s and Sotheby’s for thousands of pounds, although new pieces are much more affordable. Generally however, mass market items can sell for anything between $1 and $100. Types of Costume Jewellery include earrings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches, cuffs and rings.

‘Fashion accessories’ is a broader term that includes not only costume / fashion jewellery, but also includes bags, hair accessories such as fascinators, scarves and belts. Jewellery is said to account for over 30% of the overall fashion accessory market with handbags the other big contributor, at around (or just below), this level.

After years of steady growth within the industry, the global downturn contributed to a 3% fall in retail sales for 2009 to $30.7 billion. Projected figures for 2010 are more positive with sales rebounding to $32.2 billion [Source: Accessories Magazine]. Heavier than expected snowfalls, and lower temperatures across Western Europe in the run up to Christmas, may lead to a slight downgrading of this estimate, as retailers lost crucial selling days. The well documented problems with the postal service particularly in the UK, may have affected take up rates within the online jewellery industry, as consumers fretted over delivery dates. Nevertheless, taking into account that growth in the key costume jewellery markets of North America and Western Europe has been sluggish in 2010, any sort of positive growth is an achievement.

Companies within this sector should be bullish about the prospects for 2011 onwards; positive indicators that the industry will grow are as follows:

• As previously mentioned despite sluggish growth in key US and European markets, the industry managed to not only recover retails sales from the 2009 fall, but returned to pre credit-crunch growth levels.

• Austerity measures across much of Europe are likely to keep consumer spending in check. However smart retailers can take advantage of this, marketing to consumers who are trading down. Value for money is likely to be the key driver in the age of austerity; in the UK, ALDI thrived from customers who traded down from Marks and Spencers. Whilst I’m not comparing the Costume Jewellery industry to ALDI, you can hopefully see my point.

• Following on from this, brands that can offer affordable luxury are likely to prosper. For many Fashion Jewellery brands, affordable luxury is one of the key selling points. An example from outside the industry of affordable luxury thriving during tough economic times, is Costa Coffee, who experienced strong results over the last few years as many consumers continue to buy as a ‘treat’.

• Emerging markets such as China and India, offer vast potential from strong brands. Growth in these economies remained strong in 2010 and is likely to continue, albeit at a slightly decreased rate. As much of the world’s mass produced costume jewellery and fashion accessories are manufactured in these new economies, companies need to examine their supply chain and marketing, to best capitalise on this opportunity. Cutting out the freight costs and selling directly at the point of origin is surely a goal worth striving for.

• The price of gold and other precious metals is still very high, Gold has been increasing throughout the last decade from $255 per ounce in 2001 to a high of $1422.60 this year. Silver is a similar, if not as dramatic story. This means that costume jewellery is better value against the traditional jewellery metals.

Those positives and opportunities aside, there are certain challenges the industry face in the quest for growth:

• The key challenge faced by the industry and indeed by many parts of the retail sector. is the rising world wide material costs. From copper to wheat, prices are rocketing as the emerging economies, particularly China and India, enable their populations to move out of poverty.

• Wages in China are also on the rise, putting additional pressures on manufactures which will eventually filter down to retailers and customers.

• International pressure about their trade surplus and the looming threat of inflation, could see China eventually increase the price of the Yuan leading again to increased purchase costs.

• Fashion Accessories, particular mid-market spends, are boosted by a high percentage of impulse buys. Replicating this spend in the online jewellery space is a challenge that retailers need to face up to. There is no simple answer, the likes of Amazon and ASOS spend hundreds of thousands a year on web development, to enable linking of products, and suggestions to their customer. Smaller retailers need to also consider how they can innovate to maximise their sales.

Overall this is a challenging but exciting time for the Costume Jewellery and Fashion Accessories industry, I expect worldwide consumer spending in this sector to grow by between 4% and 5%, several new entrants to join the industry and the continued growth of online jewellery and accessories’ sales. I will be revisiting this blog later in the year to see if I am correct in my analysis.

The Ovarian Cysts-Their Types And Incidence

For the people of our society, going to the doctor and taking periodically medical examinations has become something usual and needful. The number of ovarian cysts diagnoses has risen because of the implementation of ultrasound technology and because women come now regularly to be consulted by the doctor. Of course, if a woman finds that she has an ovarian cyst , she will be terrified, believing that cyst is malign. But, fortunately, most of the ovarian cysts are benign.

In their normal functioning, the ovaries produce every month small cysts, which are named Graafian follicles. At the middle of the cycle, only one follicle, the most developed one, which has up to 2.8 cm in diameter, delivers a mature oocyte.

The follicle that developed the mature oocyte becomes the corpus luteum, having a maturity size of 1.5-2 cm and a cystic center structure. If fertilization of the oocyte intervenes, the corpus luteum first enlarges, and then its size decreases gradually during pregnancy period. But if fertilization of the oocyte does not take place, it suffers shrinkage and fibrosis.

Functional cysts are named those cysts which appear in the normal process of ovulation, and they are always benign. Gonadotropins can stimulate these cysts, and if there is an excessive gonadotropin sensitivity or stimulation, there might appear multiple functional cysts. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome may occur in many cases of treatments for infertility, as a result of ovulation induction with gonadotropins or rarely clomiphene citrate, mostly if there is a hCG administration too.

If the overgrowth of the cells inside of the ovary is not right, that may lead to the apparition of neoplastic cysts, which can be benign or malignant. The most frequent malignant neoplasms appear from the surface epithelium, and these cancers have benign correspondents that are serous and mucinous cystadenomas. There exist also, other malignant ovarian tumors that have in composition germ cell tumors from primordial germ cells and granulosa cell tumors from sex cord stromal cells. The form of germ cell tumor which contains elements from all 3 embryonic germ layers is called teratoma.

Other cysts are the endometriomas. They appear from the ectopic endometrium and are filled with blood.

In the US, the transvaginal sonograms analyses discover that almost all premenopausal women have ovarian cysts and, in the postmenopausal women category, about 14.8% have that too. Most of the cysts are benign and functional in nature.

Annually, in the US, 22,000 women are diagnosed having ovarian carcinomas, from which 16,000 are serious cases, causing death. Every year, there appear about 15 cases of ovarian carcinomas per 100,000 women. About 20% of malignant ovarian tumors,

approximately 2% of granulosa cell tumors and less than 5% of malignant germ cell tumors have low malignant potential.

The patients with ovarian carcinoma usually are diagnosed too late. Mortality is related to the stage of the disease, when it is diagnosed. It is very important that ovarian carcinoma to be detected in its early times. Generally, there is a 5 years survival rate, and this rate is varying between 86.9% for stage Ia and 11.1% for stage IV.

Most germ cell tumors can be diagnosed in early times and they have an excellent result.

An 82% survival rate is associated to granulosa cell tumors, and in what concerns advanced-stage dysgerminomas, it is known that they have a better outcome then nondysgerminomatous germ cell tumors.Generally, the survival rate is 86.2% at 5 years.

Abnormal uterine bleeding, torsion, rupture, pain, hemorrhage can be caused by benign cysts. They rarely cause death, but mucinous cystadenomas can provoke peritonea, which is in most of the cases fatal.

The effects of the malignant ovarian cystic tumors can be vomitation, indigestion, early satiety, bowel obstruction, nausea, heartburn, abnormal uterine bleeding. These tumors can cause severe morbidity, including pain, deep venous thrombosis, and dyspnea.

Young patients may experience precocious puberty while the older ones postmenopausal bleeding, as a result of the estrogen’s action secreted by the cystic granulosa cell tumors.

Studies have revealed that women from Asia, Africa, and Latin America are not so frequently affected as women from northern and western Europe and North America.

In the group of women aged between 30-54 years, the highest incidence is in white women, , followed by Japanese, Hispanic, and Filipino women. Between 55-69 years, white women are most exposed, then Hispanic and Japanese women. For the group of women aged 70 years or older, the highest rate appears among white women, then on those who have African descent and then Hispanic women.

Germ tumors mostly appear in the adolescence, tumors of low malignant potential develop at about 44 years old, but epithelial ovarian cystadenocarcinomas, mesenchymal tumors and sex cord stromal tumors grow up exponentially with age till you reach 60 years old, when is the point of the incidence plateaus.

It is very important for every woman to take often medical consultations, because the sooner this tumors are discovered, the chances of survival grow.

Mercer Infection – Signs, Symptoms, and Treatments

Mercer infection is the one of the colloquial terms given for MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) infection. Initially, Staphylococcal resistance to antibiotics (especially to Penicillin) was unheard of. However, bacterias can mutate and develop good resistance against antibacterial medications including Penicillin, such as Methicillin, as well as against other Beta-lactam antibiotics such as Meropenem, Clavulanic acid and Tazobactam. Furthermore, resistance to Cephalosporins (such as Cefazolin, Cefuroxime, Ceftriaxone) were also studied and documented.

Surprisingly, the causative agent that causes MRSA, the Staphylococcus Aureus, has natural colonies in the human body. These natural bacterial floras are mostly located inside the nostrils. The skin is also a natural haven for this microbe. They normally stay dormant and do not cause any health problems. When immunity weakens and there is a break in the protective integrity of the skin, Staphylococcus Aureus now becomes pathogenic.

Staph infection is usually treated with Penicillin-class antibiotics. Often, Penicillin alone is quite effective. However, some strains of Staphylococcus had developed effective resistance, and mercer infection sets in.

Signs and Symptoms

In its early stage, signs and symptoms are generally fever and skin rashes. A raised, red skin lesion that looks like a pimple, a pustule or a group of red bumps, is also present. The common topical infection sites are wounds, cuts and abrasions, as well as the neck, inner thighs, back, the interior portion of the arms, and hairy portions of the body such as the beard, armpits and groin. Infection may spread to the sebaceous or apocrine glands located in the edges of the eyelid, creating a red, painful, swollen and irritating lump called a Sty or Hordeolum. As the infection worsens, skin lesions may feel warm due to inflammation, and can become more painful, swollen and larger, which can eventually rupture, creating a profound and purulent abscess.

Complications

If left untreated or if the causative agent has a strong resistance and virulence, it can cause havoc to other body tissues. Immediate medical intervention must be initiated when serious and life-threatening complications occur, such as Endocarditis (heart valve infection), Osteomyelilits (bone infection), Septicemia, or also known as Bacteremia, Toxic Shock Syndrome, severe cellulitis, and flesh-destructive complications like Pyomyositis, Necrotizing fasciitisand Necrotizing pneumonia.

Risk Factors

Mercer infection can either be community-acquired or CA-MRSA or healthcare/hospital-associated or HA-MRSA. Risk factors include a weak immune system especially on patients with HIV/AIDS and those undergoing long-term chemotherapy and steroidal therapy, pediatric and geriatric patients, prolonged and multiple hospitalization confinement, long-term antibiotic therapy, as this can hasten bacterial resistance, invasive procedures such as surgery, urinary catheters and dialysis, frequent skin contact like mutual sharing or poor disinfection of personal stuffs like towel and clothes, overcrowding, skin trauma such as wounds and cuts, as well as poor personal hygiene and sanitation.

Mercer Infection Treatments

Both categories of MRSA infection are treated by antibiotics. The class of antibacterial medication to be used is dependent on the severity.

For mild to moderate infections, a sulfanomide combination of Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim (Bactrim) or Co-trimoxazole for short, has effective results. Broad spectrum and semi-synthetic tetracycline antibiotics like Minocycline and Doxycycline, as well as Clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic, had all shown successful remedies against mercer infection.

However, when antibiotic therapy response is poor or when the prognosis worsens, a different line of antibiotics are given by an IV route.

For severe mercer infection, Vancomycin (Vancocin) and Linezolid (Zyvox) had shown the best results and are now the drugs of preference.

Other antibiotics may be prescribed, such as Daptomycin (Cubicin), a lipopeptide antibiotic, Tigecycline (Tygacil), as well as Telavancin (Vibativ), a potent MRSA bactericidal lipoglycopeptide. An antibiotic combination from the streptogramin-class, Quinupristin/Dalfopristin (Synercid), shows strong antibacterial action against MRSA as well.

Prophylactic antibiotic therapy may be continued for up to 2 months to prevent recurrence.

For topical skin lesions, antibacterial ointment or creams may be prescribed. Drainage of pus and fluid may be performed when severe skin problems occur.

Preventive Measures and Home Remedies

MRSA infection is contagious. It is always important to practice good hygiene and sanitation. Never share or use contaminated items. Patient’s personal effects and even eating utensils should be segregated. Cover ruptured wounds with sterile dressings. Encourage frequent hand washing with antibacterial soaps and disinfect with alcohol or any antiseptic solution.

Other effective home remedies include the use of essential oils, such as lemon grass oil and tea-tree oil.

Mercer infection is a highly communicable and potentially dangerous disease. With early diagnosis and treatment, along with consistent application of preventive measures at home, MRSA infection is not complicated to deal with. However, before trying any treatments, especially with antibiotics, it is always prudent to seek your physician’s advice first.

Sexual Abuse – Covert (Subtle) Forms

“Traditionally, incest was defined as “sexual intercourse between two persons too closely related to marry legally–sex between siblings, first cousins, the seduction by fathers of their daughters.” This dysfunctional blood relationship, however, does not completely describe what children are experiencing. To fully understand all sexual abuse, we need to look beyond the blood bond and include the emotional bond between the victim and his or her perpetrator. Thus, a new definition has emerged. The new definition now relies less on the blood bond between the victim and the perpetrator and more on the experience of the child.” E. Sue Blume, Secret Survivors.

“Incest is both sexual abuse and an abuse of power. It is violence that does not require force. Another is using the victim, treating them in a way that they do not want or in a way that is not appropriate by a person with whom a different relationship is required. It is abuse because it does not take into consideration the needs or wishes of the child; rather, it meets the needs of the other person at the child’s expense. If the experience has sexual meaning for another person, in lieu of a nurturing purpose for the benefit of the child, it is abuse. If it is unwanted or inappropriate for her age or the relationship, it is abuse. Incest [sexual abuse] can occur through words, sounds, or even exposure of the child to sights or acts that are sexual but do not involve her. If she is forced to see what she does not want to see, for instance, by an exhibitionist, it is abuse. If a child is forced into an experience that is sexual in content or overtone that is abuse. As long as the child is induced into sexual activity with someone who is in a position of greater power, whether that power is derived through the perpetrator’s age, size, status, or relationship, the act is abusive. A child who cannot refuse, or who believes she or he cannot refuse, is a child who has been violated.” (E. Sue Blume, Secret Survivors).

Adhering to the definition of Sexual Child Abuse (see above), sexual abuse can be as subtle and insidious as:

o allowing the child to see pornographic pictures or movies or including the child with him/her as if the adult and child are peers

o a father rubbing cold water on his daughter’s chest–ostensibly to make her breasts grow

o a parent insisting a daughter do certain exercises to make her breast grow or grow bigger

o making jokes about a girl’s flat chest–i.e. two fried eggs, etc.

o giving a girl a T-shirt with two fried eggs in the strategic area of her breasts

o pulling a child’s bathing suit bottom down–the perpetrator usually laughs–causing humiliation

o a game of swimming pool tag–the person who gets ‘tagged’ gets his/her bathing suit pulled down, invariably a child is the only one who gets tagged and laughed at

o a man hugging a child while pressing his hard penis against her

o a man giving a child a ‘wet’ kiss on the lips

o a family member putting his tongue on a child’s lips or into her mouth–ostensibly the ‘family/friend’ kiss–the child doesn’t like this type kiss, but has no recourse since the child believes this is a family practice

o anyone, who has sexual intent invading a child’s privacy, such as entering the bathroom or bedroom without knocking, catching her unaware and indisposed

o anyone ‘playfully’ pulling his/her swimsuit bottom down or pulling her panties down without implied permission or permission

o bathing a child when the child is old enough to bathe him/herself

o any person touching or caressing the child in ways that are sexual

o a man holding a child on his lap while he has an erection

o a person who stares (ogles) at or makes provocative sexual comments about the child’s body

o anyone kissing the child in a way that is sexual for the giver

o seemingly innocuous touching, wrestling, tickling or playing, which has sexual overtones or meaning for the other person

o touching a boy’s penis with sexual overtone or meaning, while changing his diaper or bathing/drying him

o smacking or hitting a boy’s penis if he has an erection–generally done to boys age 2 to 5

o playing ‘red light/green light’ – If I touched you here (the person touches an erogenous area) would you say “Red light or Green Light? No matter the answer the person has transgressed a boundary and the child has experienced in-appropriate touch and therefore has been abused

o any adult asking/instructing a child to touch him/her in his/her erogenous or genital area

o copping a feel in the child’s erogenous or genital area

o a man touching/patting a child’s leg with sexual intent or meaning while driving

o a man with sexual intent or meaning while seemingly unintentionally touching a child’s chest/or breast

Women know how unnerving and icky it feels when a person ogles, touches, cops a feel or makes in-appropriate or unwanted sexual comments. Can you imagine how a child feels? While the child doesn’t know the intent or ramifications, the child feels the person’s sexual energy and doesn’t know what is transpiring, therefore a copped feel, ogling or sexual comments are more profound for a child than an adult.

While you might think these examples are far reaching–let me assure you each one has been told to me by a person who suffers the aftereffects of sexual child abuse. These aftereffects were consistent with others who had the same experience and same aftereffects. Furthermore, these covert (subtle) forms were seldom the extent of the sexual abuse. These covert forms of sexual abuse are usually grooming the child to have penetration.

Covert sexual abuse is more insidious than blatant sexual abuse. Thus, identifying it is more difficult because the sexual nature of the action is disguised. The sex offender acts as if she/he is doing something non-sexual, when in fact she/he is being sexual. The betrayal then becomes two-fold. The child is not only abused, but also tricked or deceived about the act. In this dishonesty, the child is unable to identify or clarify his/her perception of the experience. The unreal or surreal sense that accompanies any sexual abuse is intensified when the child is tricked into disbelief. Thus, the child doubts his/her perceptions and feelings and believes that there is something wrong with him/herself because he/she feels terrible.

To make matters worse, those around the child act as if nothing is wrong or there is collusion. For example: Uncle Lewie pulls his 3-year-old niece’s bathing suit bottom down and everyone laughs. Or a game of tag is played and the person who gets ‘tagged’ gets his/her bathing suit pulled down, invariably the child is the only one who gets tagged and laughed at. The child feels humiliated or shamed as everyone laughs at his/her expense. Thus, the child feels inadequate or crazy that he/she feels bad, as if she/he is the one with the problem.

5 Instant Health Benefits of Quitting Marijuana

If you are a regular, heavy pot smoker, perhaps it is time to admit that certain things in your life are miserable because of weed, things that could almost instantly change if you just stop smoking.

If you have lied to yourself for long enough about your smoking habit and how it affects you, and you’re finally ready to try quitting, here is what you can expect.

The Negative First…

You may have heard you will experience some side effects after quitting-things like depression, irritability, sleep difficulties, etc-and you probably will, but these symptoms are temporary and manageable. There are even a few tricks to avoid most of them. Believe me, with time you will get over it. Whatever you do, don’t let a few side effects get in the way of your health and well-being.

The 5 Instant Health Benefits of Quitting Marijuana

Breathe. In just a few short weeks after quitting marijuana entirely, your lung function will begin to improve and you’ll have more energy and stamina. Not quitting could mean a number of bronchial and respiratory illnesses, including bronchitis, emphysema and even cancer.

Sleep. Proper sleep is extremely vital to your overall health, and studies have shown that marijuana use has a negative impact on your sleep cycles and the quality of your sleep. Most marijuana users report the absence of dreams and restless sleep when using, largely because the drug interrupts the REM cycle which is necessary for both dreams and complete rest. However, in just a few short days after quitting marijuana, your body will return to its normal patterns and you’ll finally get the sleep you need.

Mood. Smoking weed affects your mood whether you’re high or not. When using, your mood may be lethargic and apathetic, and you may feel like you’ve not a care in the world. But when you’re not high, you become irritable and anxious. This kind of stress and anxiety can play havoc on a number of different organ systems in the body, including your heart. Once you quit smoking marijuana, however, your mood will eventually stabilize and you will not experience so many highs and lows.

Memory and Learning. Researchers have proven that regular marijuana use affects both your memory and your ability to learn, and long-term use may impact these two areas permanently. The sooner you rid yourself of your pot habit, the sooner your memory and ability to learn will return to normal.

Sex. Thinking about having kids? Not only does smoking marijuana decrease your sex drive and performance, it may also cause infertility. In a number of independent studies, people smoking marijuana were far less interested in sex than peers from the same age group. Moreover, THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, has been proven to cause infertility in men and women alike, mostly due to the way the chemical affects the sperm. Don’t worry, though, shortly after quitting marijuana your sex drive will return to normal, and with marijuana completely expelled from your body your fertility will improve dramatically.

Despite what pro-legalization advocates want you to believe, marijuana is a drug, and as with any drug there are certain dangers involved. Fortunately, it’s not too late. If you quit marijuana today, most of these symptoms will disappear and you will be on the road to health and happiness.

Steve Jobs Astrology

Steven Jobs (born February 24, 1955, rectified birth time 18:49 PM San Francisco CA), the co-founder and chief executive officer of Apple Inc., has announced again that he is taking a medical leave of absence from Apple Inc. It’s the latest chapter in the visionary CEO’s tale of health woes, a story that began in 2004. Steve Jobs health has many Apple followers uneasy about their future.

Disease is judged from the sign on the cusp of the 6th house, planets in the 6th house. Planets in any manner connected to the 6th house have to cause disease. Hence in their conjoined periods they produce the results. Steve Jobs is a Leo Ascendant, and the lord of 6th houses of diseases is Saturn. Saturn causes diseases for want of proper nourishment, chronic and lingering ailments, rheumatism, cancer, colds, chills, dull aches, pancreatic cancer, falls, blows, sprains, dislocations, bruises, Bones, joints, teeth, spleen, gall bladder, skin, left ear.

Steve Jobs achieved a very high level of success during Ketu period (1975 to 1982), then Venus period (1982 to 2002) and finally sun period (2002 to 2008). Ketu is very strong in 11th house in Mercury’s sign. Venus rules the 10th house of career, and 3rd house of change, that is why during the Venus period there were to many changes in Jobs career. At present Jobs is in Moon period (2008 to 2018). Moon rules the 12th house of hospitalization and is located in 8th house of surgery, and is in the constellation of 6th house of sickness lord Saturn, and Saturn is in 3rd of change. Moon main period has activated the 6th house of sickness, 8th house of surgery, and 12th house of hospitalization in Steve Jobs astrology chart, and the transit Saturn from Virgo is directly aspecting the 12th house lord Moon’s natal position. 6th, 8th and 12th houses when activated through Mahadasha and Bhukti always bring health issues, loss of money and decline in career / fortune. Transit Saturn this year is directly opposite the natal position of Moon in Steve Jobs astrology chart. Year 2011, especially the period from March to July will prove very fatal to Steve Jobs longevity, and his golden period is sadly over.

Rupture and Repair: What I Learned About Healing From My Broken Leg

Three months ago, in a freak accident involving a puppy, a feral cat, and a nasty curb, I broke my leg in two places. After emergency surgery I awoke from my anesthesia haze and faced my most grueling physical teaching yet. Painful and frustrating as it was, this injury offered an incredible first hand view of the healing process. I observed the parallels between physical recovery, and emotional, psychological, and spiritual repair. Here is what I learned about healing from my very broken leg:

1.) Hurry up and Wait the gift of time: In both medicine and psychotherapy there is a phrase “flight to health” which refers to a patient mistakenly believing they have recovered in an impossibly short period of time. All of us want so terribly to be well that we bypass the pain, frustration, and set backs inherent in the healing process. In a culture of instant gratification we deny time its rightful role in healing. The problem with flights to health is they invariably crash. Whether it’s a broken bone or an injured psyche, for authentic healing to happen we often need to rebuild the very foundation of our bodies, beliefs, and behaviors. Attending to the marrow of our being takes time. In order to heal we have to surrender to that process, which is always slower than our egos would like.

2.) We’re in this together, the gift of receptivity: For three months I couldn’t do my own laundry, open doors, and an almost unfathomable predicament in Los Angeles: I couldn’t drive! Breaking my leg forced me to let people in. Once my ego surrendered its resistance I was able to enjoy the generosity of friends and family who wanted to show up in my hour of need. Most of the time when we are hurting there are people who want to help. Often the biggest challenge is accepting our vulnerability and letting others be of service.

3.) You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone, the gift of Gratitude: Even as a yoga teacher, there were plenty of times I would drag my feet to the gym or my mat. Once I was marooned on the couch I would have given anything to be able to run freely or let master yoga teacher Ally Hamilton kick my butt! Injury grants immediate perspective. As with so many women in our look obsessed world I have wasted hours of my life loathing my legs simply because they didn’t measure up to some airbrushed cover model. I sigh at how ungrateful I was to my perfect body, my perfect legs that take me everywhere I need to go.

4.) We can break, the gift of Vulnerability: The Buddha had it right. We are all going to get old, we are all going to hurt, and not a single one of us is invincible. By acknowledging and embracing my essential vulnerability I have gained a deeper reverence and gratitude towards my body and life and how ephemeral both are.

5.) We can mend, the gift of Resilience: Within moments of my injury my body began to repair. As I write my bones are knitting together and I didn’t even ask them to. Healing is an autonomous drive within the body, mind, and soul. We suffer when we get in the way of the natural tide of things. If we can align with that innate drive, trust it, and use one another to stay connected to it, we will be on our way towards wholeness.

6.) This too shall pass, the gift of Impermanence: Amidst the pain and impatience I experienced throughout my recovery I was comforted in knowing at the end of three months I would walk again. We don’t always have such a clear timetable when moving through emotional or psychological pain, yet the same principle applies: it’s all temporary. Whether it’s a broken bone or a broken heart, every sensation is temporary, and the intensity will eventually fade. Sometimes the only thing to do is breathe through the experience and remember it is not forever.

7.) Spiral Fracture, Spiral Healing: Throughout my convalescence all I could think was: “I can’t wait till I’m back to normal.” The truth is my body is now host to 16 steel pins and a metal plate. My bone is not the same. I have a “new normal” to adjust to. Transpersonal philosopher Ken Wilbur reminds us that psycho-spiritual growth does not follow a linear trajectory, but occurs in a spiral dynamic with infinite stages of progress and regression over time. Each time we “regress” we have the opportunity to integrate more fully, to “transcend and include” the lessons we learn. Wherever you are experiencing a rupture in your life, psychic or physical, you can view the experience as a threshold of initiation in the spiral dynamic of your personal development.

MS Early Symptoms – It’s Important to Catch MS Early

Many of the early symptoms of MS are so subtle that the person who is experiencing them does not realize that they have any significance at all. In fact for the most part people tend to dismiss them as not worth worrying about and do not bother to go see their doctor for a diagnosis. By doing this they allow the disease to progress unabated for far longer than it should and cause more damage before it is caught.

Early symptoms of MS that most people tend to ignore and dismiss as nothing to worry about are the feelings of numbness and tingling in their legs and arms. The typical thought is that this is a result of the way they were sitting or laying down and that the limb has “gone to sleep”. If this symptom goes away quickly they may be right but if it lasts for hours and continues to reoccur then it can be the first signs of the onset of multiple sclerosis.

These early symptoms of MS can also lead to the person experiencing temporary stiffness or even paralysis of one or more extremities from individual fingers or toes to entire arms or legs. They may also have episodes of poor balance or lack of coordination where they normally have perfect scores in both areas. Instances of muscle spasms know as spasticity are an indicator that there is a problem that should be tested for.

Cognitive difficulties can be one of the early symptoms of MS, but may be so subtle that it is not noticed or is easily dismissed. Problems with the thought process of connecting a thought to the right words while a person is talking is a classic symptom. Having difficulties remembering what you are supposed to be doing at a particular time or during the day can also be an indicator although this can be a sign of many other issues. Slurred speech for someone who is normally well spoken and has good diction can be an indicator that something is going on in the speech center of their brain.

While many of these symptoms are mild and easy to dismiss, it is far better to go see your physician and get tested to make sure that they are not the precursor to something more serious. Multiple sclerosis is not curable at this time but with early detection the damage it does can be kept to a minimum allowing the patient to live a long and productive life.

How to Develop Large Healthy Testicles!

Large, full testicles are a sign of fertility and optimum sexual health! This may sound strange to you, but you can use your testicles as a barometer to gauge whether or not your body is producing optimal levels of testosterone and other male hormones.

On the other hand… Testicular atrophy (shrinking of the testicles) is a sign that your male hormone levels are on the decline.

Remember!

If your testicles are shrinking in size, you need to pay attention! Take action, or you will begin to develop sexual problems, such as impotence, erectile dysfunction, and low sex drive.

How To Develop Large Healthy Testicles!

-Increase Your Ejaculation Volume

-Boost Your Sex Drive

-Elevate Your Testosterone Levels

A Few Things About Wheatgrass Juice You Probably Didn’t Know

There are many people who think that wheatgrass juice is simply a health drink that you can take shots of for energy and nutrients. The truth is, there are books filled with long lists of uses and applications. From its health benefits detoxifying from addictions, tooth decay, sore throat, skin problems, constipation, improving blood sugar, high-blood pressure and breathing. There are countless documented uses for this powerful healing juice.

Healing

Some of the early methods of healing with wheatgrass juice were very simple and natural. The instructions would direct a person to lay down a small amount of the pulp from wheatgrass juice and place the wet leafs on the area of the body that was diseased, scarred or irritated. Others uses would include chewing the grass for some time before spitting out the pulp. Today we now know that there is much scientific reason behind this method of healing.

Wheatgrass juice contains the living blood of plants and sprouts; it is full of the energy that all living things thrive on. This plant blood is referred to as chlorophyll, and it has an effect of rebuilding the bloodstream of humans as well as other mammals. There have even been a large number of studies that were conducted on different types of animals, and they all have shown without a doubt that the plant blood chlorophyll is free of any sort of toxic or adverse reactions. However, many people find it has a strange or seemingly foreign taste; after all it is grass juice.

Deodorant Detox

Even with wheatgrass juice having what is a somewhat displeasing taste it does have some other benefits. The living chlorophyll of wheatgrass juice is just like an alovera plant. Its juices have the ability to wash drug deposits from the skin and from the body. This effect even works when wheatgrass is spread over the armpits covering the lymph system. This works as a marvelous deodorant that eliminates body odor.

In The Blood

When you take a shot of wheatgrass juice, you will taste the grass and the sweetness, and very quickly after you will often free changes happening in the body. Typically this is the chlorophyll purifying the liver. When it reaches the blood stream is improves the blood sugar levels. If the juice is gargled or simply held within the mouth, it will eliminate toothaches and over time can help prevent or even strengthen arrested tooth decay. At the same time other people will simply gargle it to remove a sore throat. It would seem that plant blood is good for the skin.

Skin, Hair And Bowels

So much so that there has been a number of guru recommending it for such skin issues such as psoriasis, as well as eczema. Dr. Patricia Linage from the University of Toronto speaks about people who regularly drink the juice and experience the loss of grey hair patches. She also has a number of articles that explain how great wheatgrass juice can be for people who suffer from constipation, and how the body reacts to it by keeping the bowels open due to its high concentration of magnesium. And this is the first thing on a long list of detoxifying effects people experience.

Drug Abuse And Acid Addiction

A new thing that is getting a lot of attention in the community is the phenomenon of people drinking wheatgrass juice and finding it dissolves scarring and damage to the lungs. Especially cigarette smokers and drug users who find that scars can form on the lungs from the various chemicals that people consume today. Many unnatural gasses and substances that are in the air can have an acidic effect of the avioli of the lungs. With wheatgrass juice the carbon monoxide is automatically removed because of the fact that plant blood naturally increases the amount of hemoglobin. This is very much in the same way that high blood pressure can be effectively be reduced by enhancing the capillaries that water, oxygen and minerals are delivered to. This also results in the body eliminating and dissipating all heavy metals from the cells of the body.

There have been many fads over the years as to what vegetables and fruits have detoxification affects on the human body. It has been said that one pound of wheatgrass juice can contain up to twenty-three or more pounds of vegetables like lettuce, celery, carrot, and spinach. Nutritionally, anyone can benefit from eating vegetables for detoxing from addictions, improving blood sugar and high-blood pressure, heal the teeth, skin and organs of the body. So wheatgrass juice is not just for taking shots, but also for rubbing over whatever ales you.

Let’s Get Weird! Strange Facts About Catnip

***I am in no way recommending or encouraging the use of catnip for any reason (outside of giving to your cat). There is such a thing as catnip overdose in humans. Don’t be an idiot***

I didn’t have a cat growing up, so everything I know about cats I’ve learned since getting our first cat a few years ago. Cats are weird little creatures and have inspired me to read and observe as much as I can. One thing that got my interest early on was that some people are afraid to give their cats catnip because they are worried they’ll become raging drug addicts. Most cats are already raging food addicts (or at least mine is), so I would be worried too if I thought catnip would add to his list of demands. Luckily, anyone with a computer can find everything they need to know about catnip and how it works.

Here is a super quick sciencey rundown:

When smelled, the active ingredient, nepetalactone, stimulates the olfactory bulb which then stimulates the nervous system in 50-75% of cats over the age of 8 weeks. The stimulation produces euphoric or hallucinogenic effects causing the cat to do things resembling play, predatory, and sexual behaviors. The effects can last up to 15 minutes and has an hour refractory period where the cat cannot be stimulated further.

Mkay… So, I can see how observation can tell us that the cat is enjoying a sense of euphoria after catnip stimulation, but how do we know they’re hallucinating? Turns out, people know from human experience! People have been using catnip for centuries and I found a huge list of “common” uses of catnip ranging from easing toothaches to recreational use that might help explain why your grandma has such a huge stash in her basement.

Catnip for the insane

Catnip was used for people with “nervous problems”. Catnip tea and infusions had a calming effect and were used to treat headaches, hysteria, and insanity. Though, it was said that chewing the root had an opposite effect, stimulating people into a sort of rage.

Catnip for Women’s Health

Catnip was used to aid in women’s fertility. It was used to increase the flow of menstruation (honestly, why??), assisted in childbirth, promoted afterbirth, and a wet mash of catnip was used to ease sore breasts from nursing.

Catnip for Baby

Catnip was used to relieve colic in infants. It was also said to relieve gassiness and the hiccups. Overdoses were reported to cause convulsions and fell out of favor.

Catnip to cure what ails you

Catnip mash was used to ease toothaches, tonsillitis, and hemorrhoid pain. It was a common cold remedy, hive reducer, and was used to both cool a feverish body and to stimulate sweating. It was a common pain reliever for arthritis by reducing painful swelling.

Catnip for common diseases

Catnip infusions were used to calm whooping cough and measles. Catnip tea was used for asthma, yellow fever, scarlet fever, small pox, and jaundice. Catnip was smoked in an effort to relieve respiratory issues, like tuberculosis and pneumonia.

Catnip in the 60’s

I bet you get the idea already, but catnip was commonly used in the 60’s as a recreational drug. It was used in place of and as a filler for marijuana. People reported visual and auditory hallucinations and euphoria. Catnip was given up for the more reliable effects of marijuana.

I’ll say it again…

***I am in no way recommending or encouraging the use of catnip for any reason (outside of giving to your cat). There is such a thing as catnip overdose in humans. Don’t be an idiot***

ADHD Diet – Sara’s Diet

As more and more studies show the relationship between attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and intolerances to certain food substances, more and more children go on specific diets to address the nutritional basis of the disorder. Among these ADHD diets is the glutein-free diet, or Sara’s Diet. Sara’s Diet is based on the gluten-free, casein-free diet (GFCF) in that all wheat and dairy products are forbidden. However, the diet also eliminates food with lutein, a natural pigment found in some vegetables and fruits. The diet was first formulated when experts discovered that some children who went on the GFCF diet without removing lutein experienced allergic reactions when they ate food with lutein. The allergic reactions would cause a metabolic imbalance that interrupted neurotransmitter activity, causing inattention, hyperactivity, and the other symptoms of ADHD.

There are many foods that naturally contain lutein, including red peppers, spinach, peas, egg yolk, mustard, leeks, and Romaine lettuce. It is difficult to say how much lutein these foods contain because the amount depends on factors like soil quality, exposure to light, and the period of the year. Certain vegetables like melon, cucumber, and tomato do not have lutein but instead contain pigments like zeaxanthine and lycopene, which the body metabolizes into lutein.

Lutein is actually not a bad substance per se; in fact, it is known to improve eyesight and work as a natural antioxidant. However, children with ADHD become more sensitive to lutein when they don’t have gluten and casein in their bodies. Researchers also believe that the human body is unable to utilize the lutein that naturally occurs in vegetables. For our body to obtain lutein it can actually use, it is better to consume foods with lycopene, zeaxanthine, and other pigments that the body can convert into bio-available lutein.

The lutein-free diet is often recommended when the GFCF diet does not work, and is as simple to follow as the GFCF diet. All foots containing gluten, casein, lutein, and artificial additives are removed and replaced with nutritious, lutein-free foods. You can either remove lutein-containing foods slowly or immediately, but nutritionists recommend the latter to make it easier to see if the diet is working. Food supplements like omega-3 fish oils and vitamin B, and healing foods like coconut and aloe, help the immune system calm down and ease the body’s natural detoxification abilities.

As the immune system becomes more stable, the child experiences a healing process through which the body gets rid of toxins and restores balance to the metabolism. However, this is where the difficult part begins. Aside from experiencing the withdrawal symptoms of gluten and casein loss, your child can also experience certain temporary problems as toxins get flushed out. These include cold-like symptoms and flu-like symptoms. It might be worrisome at first, but the emergence of these symptoms is a sign that the diet is working.

Before putting your child on the lutein-free diet, please consult your physician or a nutritionist and ask for a diet plan. Going on Sara’s Diet without proper planning and expert advice may lead to a vitamin A or vitamin D deficiency, which will only trigger symptoms of ADHD.

The Right Diabetic Dog Food May Reverse Diabetes

If you change to the right diabetic dog food, you stand a chance of reversing the diabetes. Yes, you did read that correctly. No, I’m not telling you porkies. This may be dependent on the length of time your dog has had diabetes, and the treatment he has had. Although these factors are less important than the overall health of your dog.

I can be confident in making this claim because it is usually the food causing the diabetes in the first place. If you remove the cause, the effect goes away. What passes for dog food in the highly lucrative pet food industry is nothing short of shocking. Shocking because it is nutrient poor, so you’re starving your dog.

Shocking because it often contains harmful filler such as sugar, which goes a long way to creating diabetes. Shocking because the claims on the label about being ‘preservative free’ are normally a blatant lie. How else can the indefinite long shelf life be attained? Shocking because the synthesised and isolated ‘nutrients’ will do nothing at best, and create havoc at worst.

By making the simple switch to feeding your dog a wholesome, raw, quality, home prepared diet, you will probably cure the diabetes. Wild dogs, the ancestors of your domestic dog, hunt and scavenge. Their food is raw, though not necessarily fresh. It contains muscle meat, organ meat and bones in the perfect proportion.

Don’t ever be fooled by the exaggerated claims made by those who profit by the claims. No processed dog food can come close to the natural diet of wild dogs.

Holistic veterinarians around the world are claiming enormous health benefits when dogs are fed a quality, raw, balanced diet. It can cure not only diabetes, but other serious and chronic conditions such as infertility, leukemia and cancer, too.

Is Cellulite In Kids Normal And How Do You Get Rid Of Cellulite In Kids Safely?

Cellulite in kids is slowly becoming more and more prevalent in industrialized countries, and not many are sure why. As a fitness professional, I firmly believe the issue is not something found in our food but rather how much food is being consumed. If you are still scratching your head, the issue is that childhood obesity is in my opinion becoming a pandemic that should be addressed. So is it normal for kids to have cellulite? The answer now, compared to even a decade ago, is an unfortunate yes.

As mentioned cottage cheese skin, a common way of referring to cellulite, is becoming very common due to industrialized countries obesity rates. Cottage cheese skin is not simply fat however, and there is controversy in the medical field toward cellulite being a sign of greater health concerns. Cellulite is basically a result of subcutaneous fat coupled with water retention herniating toward the skin.

If you have noticed female youths having a greater or more noticeable amount of cellulite, you are on to something. It has been shown that females, kids or grown women, have a connective tissue that is honeycomb shaped. This is why you will notice that kids with cellulite are more likely to be female. Men or boys have more of a horizontally structured connective tissue which makes them less likely to have a noticeable cellulite problem.

Before going through conventional ways to get rid of cellulite, you may have noticed that not everyone with a cellulite problem is overweight. Aside from being related to subcutaneous fat, cellulite problems also are caused by water retention, as mentioned above, coupled with restricted blood flow that actually helps to herniate the connective tissue.

Let’s cover some of the ways to rid your kid of cellulite. When searching for ways, most commonly you will find a laser treatment recommended. Personally, a laser is the last thing I would want going anywhere near my child. Aside from that, treatments such as Cellulaze can run you anywhere from $4,500 to $7,000 on the low end.

Seeing laser treatment isn’t necessarily the way we want our children to get rid of cellulite, what else is out there? One thing you could do that is far less expensive and not invasive at all is by using a body brush. Body brushing is not only less expensive than Cellulaze and related treatments it is far less invasive and can be done by your child. Additionally, body brushing can also stimulate blood flow as well as the lymph system while removing dead skin.

As I mentioned earlier.com, cellulite is often though of as being an obesity related issue. Focusing on that, we can all say the current generation of kids do not have the healthiest diet. One thought process going into this is the toxins or non-natural elements entering our children’s body. This way of thinking highly advocates going for an organic or even paleo based diet.

What we need to take away from this and realize is that although our societies are advancing, our personal health is falling. As a fitness professional I personally say our obesity epidemic is getting out of hand. Implementing the steps above as well as below. Should help you dramatically see a difference in cellulite reduction.
