Finding a Cure For Leukemia

Ever since Cancer has been around, there have been people who have been researching to find its cure. Dr. Tullio Simoncini is one person who has advanced the knowledge, theories, and cures behind all types of cancer for many decades. Here is some information on Dr. Simoncini, and his efforts to find a cure for leukemia.

One of Dr. Simoncini’s famous theories involves the use of sodium bicarbonate. The most common form of this chemical compound can be found in baking soda. And although modern medicines have replaced baking soda for many people, it is a common fact that baking soda can work as an antacid for stomach relief. Baking soda can also be used to help with bladder infections, and kidney disorders.

Simoncini believes that baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate can also be used as a cure for leukemia. This is based on his theory that cancer is a fungus. Many people disagree with Simoncini’s terminology, and classifying cancer as a fungus, but it is hard to argue with his results.

The exact reason for baking soda’s killing effect on cancer is unknown, but there are many theories surrounding it. Some people believe that the sodium bicarbonate shocks the cancer with alkaline and oxygen, which reverses the hypoxia. Other people believe that the sodium bicarbonate acts as a sponge and helps to soak up all of the chemicals present in cancer cells. Simoncini believes that cancer is an advanced form of fungus, which baking soda has been known for years to fight.

Whatever the reason for its effectiveness, Simoncini has helped hundreds of patients fight their cancer. Also, being treated with Simoncini’s method has a much smaller amount of side effects as opposed to chemotherapy, which, according to Simoncini, destroys the cancer but also everything else in its path.

Instead, he says, a patient should try to get sodium bicarbonate into contact with all infections of cancer. Orally for the digestive tract, enemas for the rectum, and intravenous injections for the brain and lungs. Simoncini has reported success with almost all types of cancer. He also reports that this could be a cure for leukemia as well.

If you are interested in treating yourself with this method, it is important that you do research. There is a lot of weight held in Simoncini’s research, but you should take to your doctor to get their professional recommendation.

Wine Allergy Symptoms – Do You Have These Symptoms of Wine Allergy?

A wine allergy is caused because when you consume alcohol your bodies efforts to process and remove the alcohol that is in the wine create a waste product. Normally your body produces an enzyme which will process and remove this waste product. However if you have the genetic defect that results in you having wine allergy symptoms your body will not remove this waste product. As you drink and it builds up in your blood your body revolts. Your wine allergy is really an alcohol allergy.

Listed below are the most common symptoms of wine allergy. Do you have these annoying symptoms of a wine allergy?

  • stinging and tightness in cheeks and lower jaw.
  • facial swelling all around the eyes and a bit in the cheeks and around the mouth.
  • getting very drunk very fast, after only one or two glasses, becoming dizzy and disoriented and feel sick and tired.
  • related to above, the next day having a hangover that is way worse than it should be relative to the amount of wine or alcohol consumed. This is referred to as the Asian Hangover and is a very common symptom of wine allergy.
  • bright red face. Accompanying this may be red patches on your arms, legs, chest, or back.

It seems as though the amount of allergic symptoms you get from wine can be directly related to the quality of the wine. For example more expensive wines can produce significantly reduced wine allergy symptoms that cheap wines. Try a more expensive wine and see if that makes a difference.

There is a formula you can make at home that is reported to have a 100% success rate. It is called the Alcohol Allergy Formula. You consume it at home before you drink and you will not have the allergy to wine symptoms. The wine allergy symptoms are commonly referred to as the Asian Flush or the Asian Glow syndrome.

Controlling Candida Albicans With the Candida Diet

An overgrowth of the Candida Albicans yeast in your body can cause irritability, recurring yeast infections, anxiety, fatigue, a depressed mood, sugar and carbohydrate cravings, allergies, PMS, or a number of other symptoms. Traditional allopathic doctors may tell you that your condition is “all in your head” because the tests they run show that everything is normal or because your symptoms get worse in certain situations.

Candida is a type of yeast that normally grows in the gastro-intestinal tract and is kept under control by the good bacteria in your digestive system. When the beneficial flora does not keep the yeast in check due to a decreased immune response, antibiotic use, stress or toxic diet, the yeast spreads to other parts of the body to create a systemic problem. To bring the Candida under control, you must starve the yeast from the things it feeds on.

The Candida Control Diet is extremely restrictive, but you will end up feeling much healthier and energized. You should stay as close to the plan as you can during the first six weeks. You will later be able to add some carbohydrates and have a glass of wine here and there, but if you stray too far from the diet, especially for any length of time, your Candida imbalance will probably return. You may find that you have to add some carbohydrates, like brown rice, to your diet if you start losing too much weight.

As far as protein, you can eat meat (but you should avoid red meat), eggs and whey protein powder (not soy). You are allowed non-starchy carbohydrates, like green beans, tomatoes, spinach, cucumbers, eggplant and broccoli, and you should avoid corn. Besides onion and garlic, you should avoid vegetables grown in the ground. Frozen berries are excellent and even better than the fresh berries from the store since they will not have mold on them. Lemons and grapefruit are allowed, but no other fruit since you need to avoid sugar. Beans of all varieties are excellent. Chili and hummus should be staple on the diet.

Eat good fats, like olive oil, butter, Earth Balance and coconut oil. Eat almonds and almond butter, but avoid peanut butter. Avoid other nuts since they often carry mold. Use Stevia or Xylitol to sweeten your food. You should avoid cheese, vinegar, mushrooms, mayonnaise, mustard, alcohol, potatoes, cooked carrots, rice, wheat, and all grains except old-fashioned oatmeal.

How to Treat Depression – Neurofeedback Or Electro-Shock Therapy?

Up to three percent of those who are clinically depressed will die by suicide this year. Among young people, the suicide rate has increased significantly in the last few decades. Suicide was the third leading cause of death in 15-24 year-olds in 1997. Even people who are not deeply depressed can struggle regularly with sad feelings and mood swings. Clearly, depression is a very serious issue.

Unfortunately, for many years, people suffering from depression were hesitant to seek help, fearing that the stigma of psychiatric treatment would only add to their list of troubles. All too often, their concerns proved to be warranted. In 1972, Senator Thomas Eagleton’s admission of having been treated for depression cost him the candidacy for vice-president.

Two treatments for depression use electricity in interesting ways. These treatments are often sought after because they do not involve medications, which can have some very unpleasant side effects. These two treatments are electroconvulsive shock therapy, or ECT, and neurofeedback therapy. ECT was widely used to treat depression only a few decades ago. If you have seen the movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” you will no doubt remember the graphic scene where Randall Patrick McMurphy (played by Jack Nicholson) received ECT.

While not as popular as it once was, approximately one million people every year are still treated with this method. Patients undergoing ECT have to be put under general anesthesia, which comes with risks including memory loss and confusion. Moreover, ECT is usually only effective for a short while; in fact, a 2004 study showed that only 30% of ECT patients saw an improvement in their symptoms, and of those patients, 64% would relapse in less than a year.

One of the most exciting things about neurofeedback for depression (aside from the fact it works so well for many people) is that it is free of the burdensome side effects of some of the other treatments available. If you have not heard of neurofeedback yet, you may have heard of biofeedback, which uses signals from the body to help the client to know when something has gone wrong, so they can begin addressing the problem. Neurofeedback therapy is based on the same principle as biofeedback. It also uses signals, but these originate in the brain.

Using these signals, neurofeedback attempts to retrain the brain to function normally. It is effective with over half of depression patients, no matter what the cause of their depression, whether trauma, genetic anomaly or another cause, and regardless of how long they’ve been depressed.

What’s more, the retraining that neurofeedback accomplishes may last for years. Although this new form of treatment still needs a few more long-term studies done, many scientists and therapists believe that the changes that neurofeedback causes in the brain will last for many years. Just think about never having to use medication or deal with a depression relapse again!

If you have depression or know someone who is struggling with it, you may want to consider using neurofeedback as an add-on therapy or as an alternative to ECT or medication alone.

Monophobia: Treatments for Monophobia

Monophobia is an irrational fear of being alone. There are a lot of people who don’t like to be alone but not a lot who actually suffer from monophobia. In order for your fear to reach a level of being a phobia there need to be physical symptoms involved. If there are physical symptoms you are going to want to know what your treatment options are so that you can get over your monophobia.

Monophobia is not the same as being uncomfortable on your own, it only occurs if you have panic attacks when you are left alone. Therefore any treatment for the condition is going to require that the panic attacks be addressed. Therefore almost any treatment option will include lessons on how to control your breathing so that you can avoid panic attacks or get them under control when they do happen. This is an important first step before you move on to the actual treatment of monophobia.

The most common treatment that will be used to treat monophobia is psychotherapy. This will involve talking to a therapist to find the root cause of your fear. This can be a very effective way of treating monophobia but it can be a slow process as it will likely take many months to get at the underlying issue and figure out how to address them. This is why most therapists combine psychotherapy with other treatments that will help you in the short term.

The most common of the treatments that is usually combined with psychotherapy is a program to desensitize the patient. This will require that the patient be left alone for short periods of time so that they can face their fear and get used to being alone. As the therapy progresses the patient will be left alone for longer and longer periods until they reach the point where they can be left alone most of the time. This will not completely get rid of the fear but it will allow people to at least control it so that they are able to function in a normal setting.

Another common treatment that is widely used for monophobia is hypnosis. Hypnosis has a long history of helping people to deal with phobias so it is no surprise that it will work here as well. Basically while you are hypnotized they hypnotist will convince you that you are not afraid of being alone. Again this is not a cure but rather a short term fix that will help you to function.

One last option that your therapist may consider to help treat monophobia is medication. Usually the medication will be to address the anxiety that you feel when you are alone. This is an approach that therapists normally only use as a last resort. This is because they don’t want you to become dependent on the medication. The medication does not deal with the phobia but rather with the symptoms so it is only effective if it is used in conjunction with psychotherapy.

The treatment that will be used to help you deal with monophobia is going to depend on how serious the problem is. What will work for people with mild cases will likely not work if you have a panic attack as soon as you are left alone. There are people with such serious conditions that they can’t even go to the bathroom on their own, it is hard to imagine them being left by themselves to be desensitized. In most cases a combination of methods will be used to help you to get to the point where your monophobia no longer controls your life.

Crisis Intervention For Anxiety

Anxiety is a common response to stress. When stress levels become too high to cope well, anxiety can reach a level that interferes with day-to-day life. This is particularly true now, in the current economy, when financial worries are affecting so many households. Difficulties in paying the bills, concerns about job security, and the risk of foreclosure all put people at risk for anxiety. Worries about other personal problems can also add to underlying issues.

Symptoms of anxiety can be emotional, mental and even physical. Sufferers often describe feeling trapped or overwhelmed. You may feel afraid without knowing why, or be concerned about losing control. Mood swings and depression are common, as is a feeling of unreality. Anxiety can interfere with thinking and short-term memory, which makes it even harder to handle immediate concerns.

Anxiety can cause physical symptoms, including dizziness, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, and even difficulty breathing. Some people report headaches or a ringing in the ears, and some have an increase in allergy symptoms. It is also common to have bad dreams, or trouble sleeping.

When emotional and physical symptoms occur simultaneously, many people find it difficult to cope on a daily basis. It can become overwhelming to make everyday decisions. You may feel trapped, unable to see your way out of your predicament. These are signs to seek help.

A crisis intervention approach is one method to help deal with the many components of anxiety. Crisis intervention looks at the problem head-on, not as a collection of separate issues. Discussing your concerns with an experienced counselor gives you a chance to examine your situation in a supportive and constructive environment. This helps break the cycle of worry and fear, and allows you to begin the healing process.

While anxiety can be caused by situations in your daily environment, it is sometimes not enough to address those issues. Often our past plays a role. It is important to examine the underlying factors that helped to create your anxiety. Emotional associations from the past, ways of dealing with problems, even basic attitudes toward life can be involved. Becoming aware of these factors and learning to work with them is one of the keys to recovery.

Anxiety can be treated in many ways. It is important to find a method, or combination of methods that work for you. Complex problems need a variety of solutions. A holistic approach is often most effective.

Holistic therapy looks at the entire person. All the dimensions of life are considered, whether social, spiritual or emotional. The primary focus is on achieving a balance for life improvement, not simply getting rid of the symptoms. Your mental and emotional well-being is influenced by all the factors in your life.

Holistic therapy can help you to understand and find better ways to manage these factors. Learning to find balance and using your inner strength will bring you the inner stability you need to endure unstable times. It takes a desire to change your life, and the help of the right counselor, but there is hope for a future free of anxiety.

Benefits of Juicing Celery and Celeriac

Juicing celery benefits weight loss and health, to effectively improve your digestion and immune system. Celery was originally used for medicinal purposes to purify the blood. No calories and high in fiber, celery juice is a stimulating tonic and a great addition to a healthy eating diet.

Celery and celeriac juice is traditionally used for: asthma, constipation, fever, fluid retention, gout, headache, inflammation, insomnia, kidneys, liver, lungs, migraine, nervous problems and weight loss.

Fresh celery juice has a mild diuretic effect and helps curb the craving for sweets which benefits weight loss.

Rich in magnesium and iron content, with up to 95% water, fresh celery juice provides valuable nourishment for blood cells. Juicing celery will provide a good source of potassium, which is great for a hydrated and healthy skin. A major benefit in consuming celery juice is that it also helps to regulate blood pressure. Vitamin C found in celery helps to support the immune system and is a cold fighter. Fresh celery contains cancer-fighting compounds that detoxify pollutants including cigarette smoke.

Common salt or inorganic sodium chloride is harmful to the body, whereas organic sodium in celery juice is most beneficial. Sodium is called the youth element because it removes acid from the body, reduces stiffness and loosens the muscular skeletal frame.

Celery juice is useful for people who have high acidity resulting in calcification and degenerative bones and joints. This harmful accumulation is obtained from the over-indulgence of animal protein, too many grains, refined and concentrated sugars and concentrated starches. The body can benefit from an increased consumption of celery juice which helps to eliminate calcium deposits before they accumulate and cause harm.

Drinking one or two glasses of fresh celery juice can benefit people afflicted with nervous disorders and insomnia. Celery juice is a revitalizing brain tonic, enhances memory, and is good for dizziness. Some have even discovered the sobering qualities of raw celery juice as an antidote to alcoholic indulgences.

The juice from celery root or celeriac is valued as an appetizer that stimulates digestion. Celeriac juice has an almost immediate beneficial effect on the body when it is sipped. It is amazing how much juice you can extract from these large, hard, dry-looking roots.

Ideal in tropical climates, celery juice is a natural coolant and protector in hot weather. A glass of organic celeriac juice will keep you dry and comfortable, while those around you perspire. Great if you enjoy a vigorous workout like I do, celery juice can be used as a natural sports drink to replace valuable fluid and mineral loss due to sweating.

The higher the chlorophyll content, the darker is the celery. Use the stalks and green leaves of celery, which contain both sodium and insulin. Only juice firm celery stalks with fresh leaves. Celery can add a refreshing but salty taste to your juice recipes and is best juiced with carrots or apples.

The health benefits of juicing celery and celeriac are enormous. Introducing celery juice into your daily diet can not only improve long term health but also encourage weight loss. So get out your juicer and start juicing celery today!

Your Fingernails May Reveal Diseases in Your Body

It is important to examine our nails regularly and check for any discolorations and changes in nail shape and structure. Our nails are seldom the first clues to disease, but it is nevertheless valuable to know that certain diseases manifest in our nails. Being able to discern between the serious and less serious signs in our nails will enable us to know when to seek advice and when we can take measures to resolve the problem ourselves. Overall, nail health remains an important part of a healthy body.

In order to notice abnormalities, we must first be acquainted with what a normal nail should look like. A healthy nail is semi-transparent, light pink and intact on the nail bed. The white half moon (or lunula) is visible just above the cuticle. Examining the nails may not provide an absolute diagnostic tool, but if the changes below are noticed and you have any concerns about them, speak to your doctor.

What Do Changes In Nail Color Reveal?

  • Yellow Nail Syndrome is a yellow discoloration of the fingernails and may indicate respiratory conditions and lymphatic conditions. Other characteristics of yellow nail syndrome include thickening of the nails, stunted new growth and there may even be detachment from the nail bed in some instances.
  • Terry’s Nails manifest in opaque-looking nails with a dark band at the tip of the nail. Although the condition may just be due to aging, it may also indicate more serious conditions e.g. congestive heart failure, diabetes, liver disease or malnutrition.
  • Dark spots on the nail may indicate something as serious as skin cancer (melanoma). Get medical advice on this condition as soon as possible.
  • Deep blue nail beds or pale blueish nails may be indicative of asthma, emphysema or anemia as it points to a decrease in oxygen supply
  • Green nails may point to a fungal infection
  • White spots on the nails do not point to zinc or calcium deficiency, but rather to injury. As the spots show up to 5 weeks following the injury, it may be hard to recall the incident causing the injury. The injury can be minor trauma such as excessive pressure on the nail or it may even indicate an allergic reaction to certain nail products, for example nail polish or hardeners. The white spots eventually grow out and in about 7 months they may disappear.
  • White nail color can possibly reveal liver or kidney disorders. However, by the time these symptoms show up in the nails, there may have been other symptoms you may have noticed.

What Do Changes in Nail Structure Reveal?

  • Pitting nails have small depressions in the nail and is common in psoriasis which is a skin condition causing scaly patches. Therefore, symptoms will have been seen in the skin as well. Nail injuries may also cause pitting and the condition may sometimes cause the nails to crumble. It is generally associated with conditions that damage the cuticle such as chronic dermatitis of the fingers or an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss.
  • Nail clubbing is characterized by enlargement of the tips of the fingers and the nails curving around the fingertips. It results from a decrease in oxygen levels in the blood and could be a sign of lung disease. It has also been associated with inflammatory bowel disease, cardiovascular disease and liver disease.
  • In spoon nails the nails are soft and appear scooped out. The depression in the nail is usually large enough to hold a drop of liquid. This condition points to iron-deficiency anemia.
  • Beau’s Lines are horizontal indentations which may appear when growth under the cuticle is interrupted either by injury or diseases such as uncontrolled diabetes, circulatory diseases, pneumonia or other illnesses associated with high fever, or malnutrition. Nail growth may be interrupted by other factors too such as the weather, pregnancy, age and stress. Infections of the digestive tract may also affect nail growth. In rare cases the lines may point to poisoning.
  • In onycholysis the nail separates from the underlying nail bed. May be caused by injury, thyroid disease, reactions to drugs or nail products. The condition has also been associated with psoriasis.
  • Vertical ridges on fingernails can be both superficial or deep. The superficial ridges may simply be due to a lack of moisture or due to the normal aging process. The deeper ridges may indicate arthritis or decreased circulation to the base of the nail.
  • Split finger nails that are dry and brittle have been linked to thyroid diseases. If also combined with a yellowish color, it may be due to a fungal infection. Exposure to harsh detergents may also cause the nails to split.

Interesting Facts about Your Fingernails:

  • They grow four times faster than toenails.
  • Your middle finger nail grows the fastest while the thumbnail grows the slowest
  • Your fingernails grow at a rate of about 3 mm (1/8 inch) per month
  • Nails grow faster during pregnancy
  • Nails on your dominant hand (the writing hand) grow faster since writing stimulates blood flow
  • Nails grow faster in warmer climates
  • Men have faster growing fingernails than women

Helichrysum Essential Oil – A Natural Means to Speed Healing of Many Common Sports Injuries

Despite the image of Aromatherapy as lacking in scientific foundation in the United States, the use of pure, therapeutic grade essential oil for medical applications is common throughout much of Europe. The essential oil distilled from the flowers of Helichrysum Italicum is well-known for its broad range of actions, which can support healing of many common sports-related injuries. The essential oil’s compounds are known to prevent and relieve blood clotting (helpful for bruising), stimulate tissue regeneration, act as a powerful anti-oxidant, and can reduce inflammation. This combination of effects many help with injuries such as twists and sprains, bruises, tendonitis and the like. Any dedicated athlete would greatly welcome such a non-toxic, effective alternative healing remedy!

From a scientific standpoint, the alternative medicine aspects of aromatherapy deals with the interaction of a wide array of natural plant chemicals with human physiological systems. Each essential oil is many, sometimes hundreds, of individual chemical constituents. These often work in concert to provide a synergy of effects – a result that is greater than the application of each phytochemical alone. A great example is the combination of chemical compounds in Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil – it has been called an ‘aromatherapists designer oil’ because of it’s mix of anti-viral, expectorant, and anti-inflammatory components, plus a pleasing aroma, make it helpful in treating certain types of cold symptoms. Helichrysum Italicum contains a great synergy in it’s own way – it’s constituent chemicals are known to reduce inflammation, signal tissue regeneration, remove clotted blood, relax tissues and reduce pain.

Before approaching it’s possible effects of Helichrysum essential oil on sprains, strains and other sports injuries, let’s look at the root of these painful conditions. Take, for example, a an ankle twisted in a basketball game – what has happened physiologically? Connective tissues (tendons and ligaments) have been stretched beyond their normal lengths; these tissue have suffered ‘micro tears’, which is damage to the actual structure of the cells of the connective tissue. Some of these cells are so damaged that they die, and need to be re-grown. There is often additional swelling and bruising involved, which is generally the leaking of blood from damaged capillaries into intracellular space. This results in a loss of blood supply to surrounding cells, and blockage of nutrients, oxygen, and waste products moving to and from those cells. This in fact, leads to cellular damage beyond the primary injury of the connective tissue cells. More cell death occurs here, not only directly from the loss of nutrient/waste exchange for these cells, but also due to an increase in oxidative radical activity. The greater the amount of ‘secondary’ injury which occurs lengthens the time to recovery – here, one can see why applying ice to an injury soon after it occurs can speed healing – it reduces the amount of blood that clots (bruises) in an area, and lowers the metabolic activity (and oxidative radical production) in cells with a loss of nutrient supply – therefore, less secondary cell damage and death accompanies the primary injury.

The synergistic effects of the compounds found in Helichrysum oil address the physiological processes involved in such injuries directly. First the anti-inflammatory and anti-clotting effects reduce the secondary damage (occurring in acute injuries, or, for example, just after a training bout that has made a chronic injury flare-up). The anti-oxidant properties also prevent further cellular damage from occurring. The analgesic effects are a nice addition, possibly reducing the need for oral pain-relief medications of questionable toxicity. Finally, the tissue regenerating effects help re-grow all damaged tissue, and can even help prevent scarring from cuts and open wounds.

In ‘Medical Aromatherapy’, Dr. Schnaubelt indicates that the effects of many essential oils cannot be explained completely by the actions of their individual components – many oils’ effects are greater than the sum of their parts. The synergy of the components in Helichrysum produces a particularly sensational healing result. A recent user of the oil, who had been a professional triathlete, then cyclist, then ‘casual’ marathon runner, was having chronic pain in an achilles tendon. Overuse – and perhaps a stiff clutch on an old car – lead him to believe that despite excellent fitness, he wound not be able to take part in an upcoming major marathon. The injury hurt every time he ran; he had been a proponent of alternative therapies for many years, with some success using DMSO for tendon-related inflammation. He had not found DMSO (often used on racehorses for similar injuries) to be as effective on chronic injuries as acute ones, and this achilles issue was no different – nothing was helping fast enough where he knew he could make the race. For the first time, he gave Helichrysum essential oil a try, applying undiluted (Helichrysum is very well tolerated this way) to the area twice daily. Within two days, he was running without pain, and ran a personal best at the marathon event.

In this instance, the application of Helichrysum reduced pain (and likely inflammation as well) in the area, and supported regeneration of the damaged tendon tissues. The essential oil should prove just as effective with acute injuries as well – it’s noted ability to reduce the clotting of blood, along with it’s anti-inflammatory and tissue regenerative properties give it a seemingly complete natural arsenal to speed healing in most common sport-related injuries. In fact, this could extend to a very wide variety of trauma injuries, though great care should be taken to use as an adjunct to proper allopathic medical care in such cases.

If you decide to try the oil for yourself, be sure of your source, and that the variety is correct one discussed here. The oil is appropriate for range of injuries – minor to major – though of course it is not a substitute for proper medical attention in any way. Using the oil in conduction with a prescribed therapy should be discussed with your doctor. The literature does state that the oil is very well tolerated, and can be applied directly to the skin undiluted. An application of a thin film a few times a day, as soon as chronic pain is noted, or an acute injury occurs, is best. The oil can be used on broken or damaged skin – in fact, it is included in formulas to reduce scar formation along with Rosehipseed and Hazelnut oils (a 5% dilution of Helichrysum in a 50/50 blend of these two base oils can be used to support wound healing). As with any therapy, be aware of how you’re body is responding to treatment, and consult a medical professional with any questions or concerns about it’s use. In summary, Helichrysum italicum essential oil is a gentle, topical treatment which may speed healing for many common sport-related injuries. It is regarded as a very safe oil and is worth a try if you are in need of such support.

7 Examples Why Boots Are Better Than Shoes

Boots are better than shoes for all sorts of reasons. They are more durable. They last longer. They protect your feet from potential dangers better than shoes do. The list goes on and on. However, real life anecdotes help drive home the idea better than just making a list. Here is a list of experiences that demonstrate the point.

1) When you drop an eighty-pound speaker cabinet on your foot, the steel toed work boots you are wearing protect your feet from being crushed. Meanwhile your friend who was only wearing a pair of Converse All Stars now has a smashed foot with lovely purple toenails.

2) While cruising on your motor scooter your only brake cable snaps and you are forced to press your thick Vibram lug sole work boots to the pavement in order to stop. In a similar incident your girlfriend wears shoes while riding her moped. Unable to get her machine to stop because her shoes were inadequate to the task at hand, she now sports a nice scar on her hip marking the spot where she became one with the asphalt.

3) Being a short female, less than five feet, in a bar sucks. Wearing a nice pair of women’s western boots can give you a solid two-inch lift and the stability that isn’t offered by a pair of stiletto heels. Plus when the drunken guy next to you tries to balance his beer on your head you have the option to kick him in the package without fear of the toe breakage that an open toed shoe would be vulnerable to.

4) Your friend falls off his skateboard and sends it careening your way. It hits you in the ankle. You end up with only a small bruise because you have a nice pair of Lacrosse work boots on that cover your ankle with thick leather. Thank goodness you didn’t wear tennis shoes because you’d probably have a fractured ankle.

5) Out on a summer picnic with your girlfriend you spy what looks like a rounded up pile of dog feces. Before you are able to react the dark brown-coiled object lunges at your feet and bangs its head against your boot. I further examination you find two tiny semi punctures with trailing scrap marks in the leather. Rattlesnakes can ruin picnics if you don’t watch where you are walking and wear leather boots.

6) It rains roughly three inches in less than an hour in your neighborhood. The city drains begin to back up from the deluge and become choked with debris. The streets are now flooded with two feet of standing water. Luckily you have a pair of Muck boots which you deploy thereby keeping your feet dry and protected against the floating trash within the water. You unclog the nearest drain, which stops the water from almost entering your home. Your neighbor wears a pair of Nike shoes and gets a nasty gash on top of his foot from a submerged spiked palm frond. You trudge onward protected by thick rubber boots.

7) You try to recapture your youth and buy a pair of Converse All Star tennis shoes. These shoes proceed to do everything in their power to murder your feet. Pain permeates your body with each step you take. You swear you don’t remember them hurting like this when you were in high school. You buy a pair of plain looking Tony Lama cowboy boots. Shirataki Noodles – Are They A Super Food?

If you’re trying to lose weight, by now you may have heard of shirataki noodles. These noodles were invented by the Japanese over 2000 years ago.

Shirataki noodles are made from flour ground from the bulbous root (or corm) of the Konjac plant. This flour is known as konjac flour and is not a carbohydrate like traditional flour. It is 100% soluble fiber which is combined at a ratio of 3% to 97% water to create a solid gel. When left in blocks this gel is called konnyaku. When formed into noodles it is called shirataki which means ‘white waterfall’. Traditional konnyaku is grey in color from the addition of seaweed to the mix.

Konnyaku and Shirataki are effectively calorie free since the human body is incapable of converting fiber into energy. Even if konjac flour were a traditional carbohydrate, a 100 gram serve of shirataki would contain only 12 calories based on the three grams of fiber it contains and the fact that one gram of carbohydrate contains four calories.

Most of the health benefits of shirataki are derived from the fiber content. The American Dietetic Association recommends 20-35 grams fiber per day. The average American only consumes around 15 grams of fiber per day.

Health Benefits of Shirataki

One serving of shirataki noodles per day;

  • Helps prevent ‘spikes’ in blood sugar levels by stabilizing them.
  • Are gluten free.
  • Are carbohydrate free and ideal for low carb diets like Atkins.
  • Reduces cholesterol levels by around 10% and LDL (bad cholesterol) by 7.2%.
  • Reduces tryglycerides by 23%.
  • Reduces Systolic blood pressure by 2.5%.
  • Boosts the immune system.
  • Reduces inflammation and helps prevent polyps from forming in the colon.
  • Aids in vitamin and mineral absorption.
  • Increases healthy bacteria in the colon.
  • Helps prevent colon cancer.
  • Effectively contains zero calories making it ideal for weight loss. Compare this to an average of 210 calories per cup of traditional pasta or noodles.
  • Fiber acts as an appetite suppressant by slowing digestion and keeping you full for longer.

Disadvantages of Shirataki

  • Contain zero nutrients other than fiber
  • Too much shirataki may result in diarrhoea.
  • Some people may find the odor of shirataki unpleasant. (Simply rinse shirataki to remove odor).
  • Shirataki has a gelatinous texture similar to rice noodles and some people don’t like this texture, especially if they hope to replace traditional pasta.
  • Shirataki noodles have little flavor so must be combined with other tasty foods.
  • Insufficient other food at the same time as shirataki will result in malnutrition.

Warning: In the 1960’s, a Japanese writer named Soichi Ohyake is rumored to have died of malnutrition after eating nothing but konnyaku and shirataki in an effort to lose weight.

So are shirataki noodles a super food. The answer is a resounding ‘NO!’ The term super food refers to foods that are highly nutritious. Clearly, this doesn’t apply to shirataki noodles since the only nutrient is fiber.

However, when used in conjunction with a healthy, balanced diet they are ideal for anyone who wants to lose weight and take advantage of the health benefits they present. So they are well worth making a regular part of you diet.

Vaginal Pimple Pictures: Why Making A Diagnosis Of Genital Warts and Lumps Using Photos Is Dangerous

Vaginal pimple pictures – Are you worried because you have noticed or felt what seems to be a pimple or boil in the genital area? Or are you more in a panic because you think it’s a genital wart? Stop right there. There’s no need to get your knickers in a twist because whichever it is, it’s treatable. Vaginal acne isn’t something unique to one woman alone, so you haven’t been singled out if that’s what you’re thinking. Vaginal acne is as common as the facial type, and something nearly every woman at some time will suffer, whether it’s a spot on the face or a pimple or two on the vagina.

Pictures of vaginal acne will likely include pimples, spots, boils, lumps, warts and bumps. And while looking at photos is a good way to tell the difference between a genital wart and vaginal boil etc, it is not something you should rely on for a definite diagnosis. Vagina lumps are more times nothing to worry about, but because lumps are a primary symptom of certain cancers, it is dangerous to have photos confirm a condition. Ignore what you see in pictures and do the sensible by letting a doctor tell you what the problem is..

Genital acne is often treated at home successfully, that is providing it is straight forward acne without infection. Infected acne will need antibiotics to clear the infection, as this applies for genital warts too.

What do vaginal pimples look like: They are red raised bumps resembling those found on the chest, neck, shoulders, face or back. A pimple that pops underneath the skin releasing bacteria to local tissues is called a ‘papule’. If it goes deeper it becomes a ‘pustule’ – deeper again you have a cyst. Unlike pimples, cysts are more challenging and treatment possibly more complicated. Depending on what type of cyst it is and its reason for developing on the vagina or wherever, consult a doctor. It’s silly to use photos to identify any type of vaginal abnormality hoping it’ll confirm your suspicions.

What do vaginal cysts look like: Vaginal cysts are round lumps under the skin not known to cause pain, but a cyst is a cyst at the end of the day, so no guarantee discomfort won’t happen. These cysts are best described as small sacs (closed pockets of tissue ) which can contain fluid, pus, or other material. They’re often the outcome of trauma to the vagina or when a gland or duct is clogged. Cysts are non-cancerous and can be the size of a penny or grow to a frightening golf ball size. Cysts don’t have a specific area on the body they appear, they can happen in most places.

Epidermoid cysts, also called sebaceous cysts, are benign and usually the outcome of blocked oil glands. Epidermoid cysts can form on the torso, back and other places, but definitely a common genital cyst.

What do vaginal warts look like: The norm for warts is coming in groups, or singly. They are raised from the skin and coloured pink or white. Warts are caused by an infection of the herpes virus. Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease and passed onto another even if the infected person does not have a current outbreak. There’s no difference between genital warts and vaginal warts because they are in fact the same thing. Warts that develop on the vagina are much like those you get on the hand, but can be smaller. Some are that small it’ll be a struggle to spot them, so now you rely on touch to detect them – especially if in among pubic hair.

What do razor bumps look like: You could say these are the aftermath of shaving. They are raised, swollen, pus-filled, bumps which only appear in areas that is continually shaved over and over, such as the legs, face, underarms and around the genitals. Bumps can differ from single, pimple-like bumps to widespread rashes. Often sore and itchy too. Depending how badly the skin is affected a burning feeling is common. Untreated razor bumps can lead to keloidal scarring.

While most disorders that include vaginal lumps or bumps on the vagina are harmless, is it worth taking the risk if it is something serious all because a picture shows otherwise.

The Most Common Systemic Yeast Infection Symptoms

Often times a Systemic Yeast Infection can have minor symptoms, and because of this they are dismissed as nothing to concerned about. However, once the yeast enters the bloodstream, the Systemic Yeast Infection Symptoms rapidly become very damaging and even life threatening. Your immune system ordinarily contains a healthy amount of yeast in small amounts, and this yeast is helpful to the body instead of causing problems.

The body also has various microorganisms that function to keep yeast growth limited so that an actual infection doesn’t occur.

On-going stress attacks, unhealthy food, normal pregnancy changes, immune system deficiency diseases, antibiotic medications and other disease may destroy the tiny microorganisms and thereby allow the Systemic Yeast Infection Symptoms to rage.

Symptoms can vary from each individual, but here a few of the most common ones:

1. A regular feeling of tiredness and general malaise.

Someone who is going through a Systemic Yeast Infection will be tired all the time, has dizzy spells, suffers from headaches, muscle aches, and could even begin to experience certain sensory disturbances.

2. Unusual or sudden sensitivity to chemicals or new food allergies.

They can develop certain sensitivities to food or other things that haven’t bothered them in the past.

3. Gastrointestinal tract disturbances.

Often times Symptoms may be the cause of GI irregularities. Also, food allergies, flatulence, (IBD) inflammatory bowel disease, rectal itching, constipation, and diarrhea which may seem to be the oncoming GI issues may really be the Systemic Yeast Infection Symptoms.

You can even have a thrush infection to occur, which is a Yeast Infection that develops in the mouth or throat.

4. Genital problems or urinary tract problems.

Some others will have a seemingly continuous bout with Vaginal Yeast Infections, while the fact is they actually are dealing with Systemic Yeast Infection Symptoms, and either don’t realize it or never have it treated properly.

5. Sudden formation of skin rashes or hives.

You could even be having a case of hives, and not have a clue where they came from.

6. Suddenly feeling irritable or mildly depressed.

Some symptoms such as lowered attention span, memory loss, trouble sleeping, difficulty concentrating or focusing, being in a “fog” or mental confusion that may also be classified as symptoms.

7. Problems with the autoimmune system.

It is possible that a person with an autoimmune disorder to find that the symptoms of their condition have gotten worse.

Some autoimmune disorders that typically become worse from a Systemic Yeast Infection are sarcoidosis, scleroderma, myasthenia gravis, arthritis, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, or systemic lupus erythematosus.

Systemic Yeast Infection Symptoms seem to be more of a problem when a patient suffers from higher stress levels and a continually unhealthy diet.

Yeast flourish on a body that is fed with sugar, refined starch, and chemical additives. These chemicals, starches and sugars are also readily present in bread, cookies, chips and other junk foods which are a large part of many peoples diets. When someone is under a lot of stress, the microorganisms in the body that are in charge of the yeast begin to die off.

What this translates to for you is that a terrible diet of sugary foods mixed with a stress level that’s too high means the ideal living condition for yeast. Since this yeast is going to have the perfect conditions to thrive, a Systemic Infection could be on the horizon.

Anytime you believe you may have Systemic Yeast Infection Symptoms, you need to talk to your doctor about what tests need to be run to determine what your body’s level of Yeast organism is.

Scientifically Tested Olive Leaf Herb Is Known To Kill Every Virus And Germ Known To Man

What is the worst case scenario for the bird flu or just how bad could it get? A question I have always wanted the answer to. Well history is always the best teacher and we have an excellent historical teacher from 1918. The answer there is the bird flu of 1918, and that teacher is foreboding. Called the aquatic bird flu that actually started in China (sound familiar) then somehow got into Kansas not Europe. Isn’t that interesting? It started among US Cavalry horses then moved to American troopers assigned to those mounts, stationed in Kansas. These Cavalry soldiers were shipped to the battle fields of Europe to take part in the fighting. Some of those soldiers arrived infected with the virus. This flu circulated throughout the densely packed cities of Europe then made its way back to America and did the same there. In a little over a years time it had run its course and 40 to 50 million people were dead.

In 1918 the big cities like London had a million people. Today our mega cities have 10 plus million people and a very fast transport system. Any new bird flu virus can travel in infected people across the world in a matter of days.

Why can’t modern medicine help us?

Until the bird flu virus of today mutates to its human infecting form, no scientific steps can be taken to create a serum. Only then can science develop the serum and begin to make large batches. This takes considerable amounts of time and fertile chicken eggs and there are not many around. Under optimal conditions modern science takes at least 6 months, minimum. Remember I just said above, it only takes days to move the virus across the world. So even with all the pharmaceutical companies around the world creating this serum only a small part of the world’s population would be protected. I hate to make this sound worse, but the virus can also mutate into other human infecting forms and other serums must be developed.

The Herbal Solution to a Bird Flu Epidemic

You can see how bad it can get and how little modern medicine can do. There has really been little progress since 1918. So what can be done to protect yourself and your family? Here is the answer that has been around for ages. Olive leaf tincture is the answer to bird flu and all other germs and virus infections. But do not take my word for it, here is some of the history of this very powerful herb and what modern science found when they looked at it.

History of Olive Leaf as Herbal Medicine

I personally believe that God was referring to the olive tree in Ezekiel 47:12, God spoke of a tree: “The fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.”

The ancient Egyptians may have been the first to put the olive leaf to practical use. They regarded it as a symbol of heavenly power, and in keeping with that belief, they extracted its oil and used it to mummify their kings. The Egyptians and later cultures also found, and there is documentation, that the olive leaf was a great herbal medicine for the relief of fevers (sounds like viral infections to me).

The knowledge of the medicinal properties of the tree (Olea europaea) date back to the early 1800’s where it was used in liquid form as a very effective treatment for malarial infections. According to the 1854 Pharmaceutical Journal of Provincial Transactions, pages 353 and 354(a), the doctors at that time stated that the properties of the tree, Olea europaea, deserved more extensive investigation.

In the early 1900’s, a bitter compound was found in the leaves of certain olive trees called “Oleuropein.” This compound was determined to be part of the olive tree’s powerful disease resistant structure. In 1962, European researchers recorded that oleuropein had the ability to lower blood pressure in animals, increase blood flow in the coronary arteries, relieve arrhythmias and prevent intestinal muscle spasms. A Dutch researcher found the chemical responsible for olive leafs healing power was elenolic acid which has strong antiviral, bacterial and antiparasitic properties.

Modern Medicine Finds That Olive Leaf is a Powerful Medicine

In the late 60’s and early 70’s, The Upjohn Companies’ test studies were published by The American Society for Microbiology in regards to a new multifunctional monoterpene which they had isolated from various parts of the olive tree. The compound was called calcium elenolate, a crystalline salt form of elenolic acid. When they tested this compound it was found to be virucidal against all viruses for which it was tested. The compound acted effectively at low concentrations without any harmful influence on host cell mechanisms. It was also found to be extremely safe and nontoxic, even at high doses. While it worked extremely well in-vitro, it was unsuccessful in-vitro. When injected into the blood stream, the compound bound quickly to the blood serum protein and rendered itself ineffective. They were unable to overcome this problem and terminated their research. During this same period, other companies had interest in the compound and performed various tests, but also lost interest. Then in 1990, interest was renewed and the process of bringing the remarkable product Olive Leaf Extract to market began.

A safety study on calcium elenolate was laboratory tested with animals and published by The Upjohn Company in 1970. The study concluded that even in doses several hundred times higher than recommended, no toxic or other adverse side effects appeared..

Recent Australian studies show that liquid olive leaf extract made from fresh olive leaves has up to 40 times more antioxidants than even the very best extra virgin olive oils. This same fresh Olive Leaf Extract also has 5 times more antioxidant power than Vitamin C, 28 times more antioxidant power than Noni juices and 6 times more than Goji juices.

The Power of Olive Leaves

Effective against fever and helpful for nervous tension; great immune booster and viral/bacterial killer. Researchers credit a number of unique properties possessed by the olive leaf compound for the broad killing power: an ability to interfere with critical amino acid production essential for viruses, an ability to contain viral infection and/or spread by inactivating viruses or by preventing virus shedding, budding or assembly at the cell membrane, and the ability to directly penetrate infected cells and stop viral replication in the case of retroviruses. It is able to neutralize the production of reverse transcriptase and protease (an enzyme found in retroviruses that enable the virus to make DNA from viral RNA). These enzymes are essential for a retrovirus, such as HIV, to alter the RNA of a healthy cell. It can stimulate phagocytosis, an immune system response in which immune cells ingest harmful microorganisms and foreign matter.

Summary of conditions for which olive leaf extract acts as a microbial and anti-viral agent

AIDS Amoebiasis Anthrax Athlete’s Foot Bladder Infection Campylobacter Chicken Pox Chlamydia Cholera Common Cold Cold Sore (herpes simplex) Cryptosporidiosis Cytomegalovirus Diarrheal Disease Diphtheria Ear Infection Ebola Sudan Virus E. Coli Epstein-Barr Virus Flu (influenza) Gastric Ulcers (from H. Pylori) Genital Herpes/Warts Giardia Gonorrhea Group B Strep Hantavirus Hepatitis A, B, C Herpes Zoster (shingles) Lyme Disease Malaria Measles Meningitis (bacterial) Meningitis (viral) Mononucleosis Pinworms Pneumonia (bacterial) Pneumonia (viral) Polio Pork Tapeworm Rabies Rheumatic Fever Ringworm Retrovirus infection Roundworm Rotavirus Infection RSV Staphylococcal Food Poisoning Strep Throat Syphilis Tuberculosis Thrush Toxic Shock Syndrome Trichinosis Typhoid Fever Urinary Tract Infections Vaginal Yeast Infections

Die-Off Syndrome

There are no negative side effects with Olive leaf extract but it does have a healthy side effect called the Herxheimer or “Die-Off” effect. Here is what takes place during a die-off effect. In the body there are microbes or viruses that somehow manage to evade the body’s immune system. Upon exposure to olive leaf tincture these microbes and viruses are destroyed which is a good thing for the person. After the microbe virus death, their cell-wall proteins are absorbed through the weakened mucous membrane, which surrounds them. The body recognizes these as toxins and begins its natural processes to get rid of them. If present in too large of numbers for the eliminative system to handle, the individual may develop symptoms that include headaches, swelling in the mouth, throat, sinuses, and lymphatic’s, rashes, fatigue, diarrhea, muscle/joint achiness, or other flu-like symptoms. The severity will vary from person to person, depending on the extent of their condition, the state of their immune and eliminatory systems, and how much olive leaf extract is being consumed.

The die off effect is desirable as it indicates that the body is being cleared of these hazardous microbes and viruses. Anyone who experiences these unpleasant effects generally feels fabulously well afterwards many times better than ever before.

If you feel the effects and you would like to minimize them, there are some easy things you can do. Many physicians recommend that an individual consume plenty of water in between usages of the product. Water keeps the lymphatic system and the kidneys functioning properly and more capable of handling the excess toxins. Another way to reduce the effects is to cut back on the dose of tincture that you are taking or go off it completely for a day or two before slowly increasing the dose once again. It can take anywhere from a couple of days to a week to completely rid the body of the excess toxins.

Why Olive Leaf Tincture?

A good question, and the answer makes common sense. Tinctures are made from the ground herb combined with pure grain alcohol. The alcohol acts as a solvent extracting the active healing ingredients out of the herb. The alcohol is then pressed out of the herb, all the valuable active herbal ingredients are now in the alcohol, the herbal pulp is discarded. This process can be done with one or a combination of herbs. In an alcohol tincture form the herb(s) are easily assimilated by the body to immediately begin the healing process such as killing germs or viruses.

There is no official dose for taking olive leaf tincture even though it has been around for thousands of years of use and testing. The most popular amount for a maintenance dose is 2 droppers full twice daily on an empty stomach before meals. For conditions such as the common cold, flu, sinus infections, and basic respiratory tract infections, the dose is 2 droppers full every 2 hours. For acute infections such as sore throat, swollen glands, fever, etc., the recommendation is 3 droppers full every 2 hours.

Safety of Olive Leaf Tincture

From all indications over the thousands of years of use by professional and nonprofessional people; Olive leaf tincture appears to be an extremely safe supplement that can effectively aid the body in improving immune function and fighting infection by various microbes and viruses. To my knowledge and through my research I have not found one single negative case involving the use of olive leaf tincture.

Shelf Life

Alcohol acts as a preservative and if stored in a cool, dark place, tinctures can last indefinitely. I have herbal tinctures that have lasted 15 years and were just as strong as when I first used them. As I said above, avoid heat, sunlight, and exposure to air, and your tinctures will keep their “just picked” freshness for as long as you own them.

Don’t take olive leaf with antibiotics as they can be inactivated by olive leaf.

Don’t take olive leaf with Warfarin (Coumadin) this drug can cause internal bleeding.

Olive leaf naturally relaxes blood vessels and capillaries which could increase Coumadin’s side effect.
