Billy Graham’s Final Chapter

Let’s consider this: if your entire life story is being written in a book, how would you like the last chapter to read?

It would seem Billy Graham has been giving serious consideration to this question within the recent decade. The last proof of this preoccupation occurred about two weeks ago when he rescinded the label of “cult” from Mormonism on his website and endorsed Mitt Romney for the presidency of the United States. Is it true that Billy Graham, amongst many other Christian Fundamentalists, have found themselves in a hot seat of doctrinal apostasy?

This is the question that will wrestle on the minds of many in Christendom today and for years to come. There’s a wind of change sweeping society that may go unnoticed for what it is; where carefully crafted comments from prominent preachers fall on docile ears as new revelations from their preferred prophets.

But when one considers the doctrinal premise of their words the true sentiment of their message is undeniable. Ministers, pastors and evangelists are stepping away from the beaten path of fundamentalism to embrace an all-inclusive gospel that is without question falls deeper into the ballpark of Christian Universalism than the orthodoxy of the centuries.

The Graham/Schuler Interview

Within this present decade, another glaring case in point is a television interview the Reverend Billy Graham had with Robert Schuler (May 31, 1997). Graham scored a point, not for orthodoxy, but for Christian universalism when Schuler ask the question: “Tell me, what do you think is the future of Christianity?”

Graham’s answer jolted Schuler when he said: “I think everybody that loves Christ, or knows Christ, whether they’re conscious of it or not, they’re members of the Body of Christ… God’s purpose for this age is to call out a people for His name. And that’s what God is doing today, He’s calling people out of the world for His name, whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world, or the Christian world, or the non-believing world, they are members of the Body of Christ, because they’ve been called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus, but they know in their hearts that they need something that they don’t have, and they turn to the only light that they have, and I think they are saved, and that they’re going to be with us in heaven.”

Schuler, with a gem of astonishment on his face wondered if he was really hearing what heard. He asked another question to be certain. “What, what I hear you saying, that it’s possible for Jesus Christ to come into human hearts and soul and life, even if they’ve been born in darkness and have never had exposure to the Bible. Is that a correct interpretation of what you’re saying?”

Graham’s unflinching response was: “Yes, it is, because I believe that.” Schuler was intellectually dislocated because that comment was not what he expected to hear from the legendary preacher. Perhaps someone like Universalist Ken R. Vincent; but certainly not Billy Graham.

Dr. Vincent, who is an author and board member of the Universalist Herald, would eagerly enjoin the above sentiments with a similar thought as is stated in his book, The Golden Thread: “Many Universalists today maintain that other faiths also know the Way to God. It is widely accepted that all modern religions teach the importance of good works and have some version of ‘The Golden Rule.”

In this book he also echoes the universalist views of John Paul II, when the Pope, in 1979 wrote: “Every man has been redeemed by Christ… Christ is in a way united even when man is unaware of it” (pg.68-69). Schuler, now being more pedantic, surrendered to the overwhelming of the moment and concluded that, “There’s a wideness to God’s mercy.”

Voices of Reason

As in everything that pertains to religion and the Bible, interpretation plays an important part. What has been true for centuries is that one man’s heresy can be another man’s truth. And what is one denomination’s apostasy is another denomination’s orthodoxy. Even so, it has always been the role of scholars and theologians to make sense of the difference.

With the unique skills they have of entering into individual doctrinal boxes of belief, often comes the truth that sets the soul free. Perhaps the greatest question that arises from Graham’s changing theological worldview is, “Are you willing to step outside of your religious box to find God where He is?”

While this writer cannot speak for everything Dr. Graham does and says, I do find that the repudiation of his statement by Dr. Robert Kofahl not only just a little one-sided but also very much short-sighted. When he labels Graham a heretic based on these statements it demonstrates one of the major failures of religious fundamentalism: arguing from the box.

Dr. Kofahl hastened to quote Romans 10:13-15 as if that alone is conclusive enough to debunk Graham’s statements. It is clear from other Scriptures that this text Paul wrote to the Romans has to be weighed in with several other texts in order for anyone to understand how the process works.

He also quotes Jesus’ words when He say, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (Jhn 14:6). But Jesus also says, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him” (Jhn 6:44). Is this contradictory? No! By allowing other Scriptures to explain those, the right conclusions can be drawn.

When Graham said, “I think everybody that loves Christ, or knows Christ, whether they’re conscious of it or not, they’re members of the body of Christ.., apparently, he was mindful of Romans 2:14-16; which says:

Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature

things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even

though they do not have the law, since they show that the

requirements of the law are written in their hearts, their

consciences also bearing witness, their thoughts now accusing,

now even defending them. (NIV)

This may well be a sterling explanation of the process by which the Sovereign Lord reaches some people when He’s ready to draw them to Christ. It is through the Divine Spirit’s prodding on their conscience that they’re led. No human has the right to say because they’re Muslim they cannot come, they’re Buddhist they cannot come, they’re pagans they cannot come. And when Graham said, God’s purpose for this age is to call out a people for His name… he could’ve been thinking of Acts 15:14-16; which says,

Peter has told you about the time God first visited the Gentiles

to take from them a people to bring honor to His name. And

this fact of Gentile conversion agrees with what the prophets

predicted. For instance, listen to this passage from the prophet,

Amos: ‘Afterwards [says the Lord], I will turn and renew the

broken contract with David, so that Gentiles, too, will find the

Lord-all those marked with my name’ (LB).

Or John 10:16 which says:

I have other sheep, too, in another fold. I must bring them also,

and they will heed my voice; and there will be one flock with

one Shepherd.

It seems the Sovereign God’s plan of the ages to reconcile people to Himself is ignored or misunderstood by some of the staunchest fundamentalists. Because when Graham also says, “They may not even know the name Jesus… ” he apparently was musing on the first-century incident that took place in Athens recorded in Acts 17:22-23:

“Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: ‘Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are religious. For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim Him to you.”

The name Jesus was the unknown “something.” By Paul’s very words, it shows that even though the Athenians did not know or spoke the name Jesus, they were worshipping Him. And so Paul led them to the next step by opening their minds to a better understanding of God and Christ. Isn’t that what all Christians are trying to do everyday -know more about God?

When God draws people to Himself, apparently it is done according to a process, according to the order of whom He chooses to be amongst His first-fruits -the Bride of Christ. Perhaps, what some Fundamentalists need to clear from their heads is the fact that when it comes to salvation, no man can make the first move! It is God that draws them from wherever they are and from whatever conditions of life they are predisposed to! Even faith is a gift from God.

Truth to Set the Soul Free

Billy Graham, who has spent many years of his life teaching the Bible, knows how to speak from his head some times, and from his heart at other times, or both, within the doctrinal box that bound him. But now in the twilight years of his career, apparently he has chosen to speak from his heart and his head and outside of the limitation of a doctrinal box. Apparently, he feels an obligation to the truth; to speak what he thinks the world should know. It seems that that truth is more akin to Christian Universalism than Christian orthodoxy; and this perhaps for at least four reasons:

First, Christian Universalism differs widely from the Calvinist influence; hence a far cry from the bad news gospel of Fundamentalism that portrays a God of eternal torture in hell as motivation for doing good. According to Eric Stetson, Executive Director of the Christian Universalist Association, and in his book, Christian Universalism, “The Christian religion has lost its way, exchanging the hopeful message of Jesus, Paul, Peter, John, and their earliest disciples for a different doctrine invented by church theologians, imposed by Roman emperors, and established as the central teachings of ‘orthodox Christianity’ centuries ago.”

Stetson believes, as do millions of other Universalists, that Christianity has inherited a false gospel crafted from the Augustinian doctrine of eternal torture. It is believed that this gospel is based on an incorrect interpretation of the two Greek words, aion and aionios to mean eternal, when the correct interpretation is age-long or age-enduring.

It stands to reason that a God who admonishes humans to love their enemies, would not do any less to His, and sentence for any reason multiple billions of people to a torture chamber for eternity for wrongs done in a brief lifetime on earth.

Second, Christian Universalism takes a honest approach to the authority of the Bible. According to David and Zoe Sulem, in the book, God’s Plan for All, “All contradictions found in any version of the Bible are due to man’s translation or interpretation errors. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and our guide, and He leads us into all truth. We are fully dependent upon Him to transcend all human translation and interpretation errors.”

This is a declaration of the formidability of God’s word; that the Holy Scripture has never, nor can ever be lost to those who are yielded, and who remain connected to the Holy Spirit. This thought goes hand-in-hand with what Jesus said: “He is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit who leads you into all truth” (Jhn 14:17).

Third, Christian Universalism is believed to be the original gospel taught by Christ and the apostles. Christian Universalists describe a time when Church Fathers agree, and what later caused them to disagree. They also identify which ones remained true to the teachings of Christ and the apostles as opposed to those who crafted a counterfeit gospel. Prominent Universalist authors are adept in making a distinction between three Christian schools of thought:

“All Bible believing Christians fall into one of the three categories of Christian beliefs, known as Calvinism, Arminianism, and Universalism… With regards to salvation, every professing Christian inevitably falls into one of them, whether he understands or is aware of these terms or not” (Sulem, 233).

While Calvinism and Arminianism are highly influenced by Augustine’s radical Catholic theology of eternal torment in hell, Universalists believe that the church fathers of truth that remained with the original gospel of Christ and the apostles were Clement of Alexandria, Origen and Gregory of Nyssa.

These Church Fathers trumpeted the truth that says, because God is loving and is the quintessential Father, every chastisement is corrective and reconciling and no one will be lost forever. It appears that fundamentalists are so selfishly preoccupied with being the “special” ones who are “Raptured” into heaven, they fail to study the Scripture further about God’s reconciling plan for those who are left behind.

Fourth, Christian Universalism is predicated on the fact that belief and adherence to Christian Universalism transcend denominational ties. “Universalism is a way of understanding God’s love as revealed through the prophets and Jesus. It reflects a change of heart and doesn’t require a change of denomination” (Vincent, 72).

Eric Stetson adds a similar thought when he says, “Many ministers, writers, and theologians from diverse denominational and geographical backgrounds advocated various types of Biblical Universalism instead of the traditional belief in eternal conscious torment” (120).

Even so, in a similar way that the Christian church was comparatively marginal in the first century, so is Christian Universalism in the twenty-first century. Is history repeating itself? If it is, then the words of Gamaliel (Acts 5:38-39) when he addressed the Jewish council in Jerusalem about Apostle Paul and the new movement, is timelessly applicable when he said, “If what they teach and do is merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is of God, you will not be able to stop them, lest you find yourselves fighting against God.”

Pneumatic Walking Boots Vs Non-Pneumatic Walking Boots

If you do not know what a walking boot is, or have never had the privilege of using one, I am sure you have walked down a busy street and observed an individual walking around in what appears to be a ski boot. This may appear “odd” especially in mid summer, but that person is wearing a walking boot.

Most doctors refer to these devices as “CAM WALKERS” (controlled ankle motion walkers). They are available in hi-top or low-top walkers. The Hi-top extend to just below the knee cap, where the low-top extends just above the ankle joint.

The Hi-top walkers are usually indicated for acute ankle sprains, stress fractures of the lower leg, soft tissue injuries of the lower leg, stable fractures of the foot and ankle and post-operatively.

Low-Top walking boots are indicated for post-operative foot surgery, metatarsal and digital fractures and soft tissue trauma of the foot and ankle.

Your doctor will determine which type of walker is best for you.

One of the unique features of many Hi and Low top walkers is a “pneumatic” feature, which allows the doctor or patient to inflate the liner inside the boot. The purpose of this feature is multifold.

When the patients leg is places in the walking boot and securely positioned, this inflatable feature provides additional compression to the lower leg/ankle and foot. This is an ideal feature for patients post-surgically, when controlling swelling is key to reducing pain, and improve healing time.

When properly inflated, these types of walking boots provide better immobilization by contouring around the extremity and preventing leg and foot movement within the boot. This ensures better healing for patients with fractures that require no foot or ankle movement.

Many manufacturers obtain this pneumatic feature by placing a pneumatic “bulb” or bubble at the top of the walking boot. The patient simply turns a little rheostat located under the bulb to close the tubes and chambers and “pumps up” the chambers. When the patient needs to deflate the chambers, they simply turn the rheostat control and the air exits the chambers.

There is a slight cost difference between a non pneumatic and pneumatic walking boot, but for patients that want additional comfort and fit, it is well worth the additional cost.

Please consult your treating physician or therapist to determine which type of walking boot is best for your condition.

Ticks – Another Bloodsucking Parasite That Can Cause Severe Health Problems For You and Your Dog!

It’s summer and everyone is outside enjoying picnics, hiking, camping , fishing and other outdoor activities. It’s also the time of year ticks are most prevalent…and hungry!

The tick is a small arachnid. They are in the same family as spiders, scorpions and mites. They are disease-carrying, bloodsucking, ectoparasites (external parasites). They live by burying their head beneath the skin, and sucking the blood of their host, most commonly mammals and birds. They can also be found on snakes, including pet boas!

Ticks may be found anywhere on your dog. They especially favor around the neck, in the armpits, in and around the ears and between the toes. If you don’t find them early enough, what you will find is a blood engorged, leathery looking body, resembling a tan-grey lima bean.

The irony is, these parasites, carry their own minute parasites, that transmits through their bite and saliva, countless microscopic organisms. When they enter the bloodstream, those microscopic organisms are what make their hosts, including dogs and people, ill.

There are 4 types of ticks common in the U. S. They are the:

· Black-legged Tick, also known as the Deer Tick

· Western Black-legged Tick

· American Dog Tick, also known as the Wood Tick

· Brown Dog Tick

The Black-legged Tick is about the size of a pinhead. In it nymph stage, it is most infectious. To identify it, look for a translucent, with a hint of grey, elongated body about 3mm long, with 6 leg (immature) or 8 legs (adult). They are dependent on the white-tail deer as a primary host. Established in the eastern coast of the U. S., from Florida to central Texas in the south. In the north, they are found in Iowa and from Maine to Minnesota. Prefer deciduous forest and leaf litter. They are the source of Lyme Disease and Babesiosis.

The Western Black-legged tick, thrives in the western and Pacific part of U.S. and British Columbia. Found in forest, north coastal scrub, open field of grass, and high brush. Looks similar to the Black-legged Tick. It is responsible for spreading Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spottted Fever, Ehrlichiosis and Babesiosis. It prefers livestock as its adult host, but will settle for humans, deer, dogs, coyotes, wild pigs, reptiles, and small rodents.

The American Dog Tick is most infectious in its adult stage. The male is reddish brown, with gray markings over his entire back. The female has a reddish brown body with a grey shield shape on her back. Prefers kennels, woods, barns and grassy areas. Found mostly east of the Rockies in the U.S. Does not carry Lyme Disease, but does carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

The Brown Dog Tick is small, brownish colored, elongated body with no ornamentation found throughout the U.S. and Southern Canada. Dogs are their primary host. They thrive in kennels and dog runs. Carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

The Lone Star Tick is found mainly in the southwest and west Texas. There are scattered pockets of them also found in New Jersey, Prudence Island, Rhode Island and Fire Island, N.Y. The female has a single white spot (lone star) on her back. Males have scattered spots. They thrive in oak and hickory woods, along rivers and creek sides. Hosts are humans, deer, cattle, birds and rodents. Carry Ehrlichiosis.

Even though ticks cannot fly or jump, they may become airborne with sudden gusts of winds. That, and direct contact. They do that by brushing up against, falling on or crawling up onto their host. Their unsuspecting hosts are their chief modes of transportation to expand their territory.

5 Most Common Tick-borne Diseases are:

· Lyme Disease -Dangerous to humans and dogs. Most common in Northeast U.S. Things to watch for in your dog are: signs of depression, anemia, limping, and high fever. If not treated soon enough, it can cause extreme joint pain, and loss of appetite. If you see your dog limping, take them to your veterinarian. Disease is treated with antibiotics.

· Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever – Is exactly what it says, high fever, stiffness, diarrhea, anemia, vomiting, anemia, labored breathing, swollen leg and face (bleeding from nose) blood in rune and feces. Treated with antibiotics.

· Tick Paralysis – Slowly paralyzes the dog over a 2-3 day period. Usually, once all the ticks are removed, the paralysis will disappear.

· Ehrlichiosis – Watch for suppressed immune system, anemia, bloody nose and 105 degree fever. Treated with antibiotics.

· Babesiosis – has the most serious ramifications. It can cause anemia, liver, spleen and kidney damage. Watch for dark urine, 107-degree F. fever, staggering and grinding of teeth. If left untreated, your dog may die within 3-4 days! Treated with Paniprotozoal medications.

How to manage preventing ticks.

· Avoid brushy, grassy or woody areas, especially in spring and summer. Ticks LOVE warm weather.

· Clear leaves, tall grass, and brush around areas you and your dog enjoy around your house.

· Move anything that attracts deer or rodents…chief carriers of ticks.

· Get a couple of Guinea hen! They LOVE ticks! Two Guineafowl can clear a couple of acres of land infested with ticks, in a single season. Yummy!

· Use a topical tick treatment on your dog during the warmer seasons. You won’t need it, if the temperature remains below 32 degrees F.

It takes roughly 24-48 for a tick to transmit bacteria. It’s vital to remove them as soon as you discover them. If you are lucky, you will find them before they begin to burrow in.

How to remove the tick:

· Wear disposable latex gloves! Do not touch a tick if possible.

· Use a tweezers or hemostat (available at many pharmacies or online)

· Have ready, alcohol, or flea spray, cotton balls or swaps

· Carefully, feel around your dog for a “pimple”

· Clear the hair away

· When you see the tick, pinch its body near its head, as close to the mouthpart as possible, with the tweezers

· Pull it STRAIGHT out, slowly and firmly, in the opposite direction from the mouthpart

· Swap the area of the bite with alcohol, antiseptic soap, or 3% hydrogen peroxide

· Don’t worry if the head does not come out…it will eventually be ejected or absorbed by your dog’s body

· You may see a small pimple sized bump. If it doesn’t go away in a couple of days, let your vet look at it – you don’t want to have to deal with a secondary infection!

· If it’s inflamed, rub or spray an antibiotic ointment on it

· Dispose of the tick in a jar of alcohol or flea spray. Then, flush it down the toilet. Don’t use the sink…they have been seen crawling back out!

· If you live in an area of high risk for Lyme Disease, you may choose to take the tick to your veterinarian, to find out if it is carrying Lyme Disease. He will send it to a lab for testing.

NEVER attempt to remove a tick by swabbing it with alcohol or petroleum jelly, or touching it with a burnt match or nail. This will only “tick off the tick!” It could cause it to release more bacteria into the blood stream

Bottom line: Puppies, weak, and older dogs are most susceptible to serious health issues from ticks.

If you are diligent about checking your dog and yourself, after excursions in the great outdoors during those lazy, hazy, days; you should be fine.

If you live in a high-risk area, be extra vigilant.

Treating Depression With Reiki

Reiki Masters believe that thought is energy vibrating at a very high frequency while the human body is energy vibrating at a lower frequency. Vibrations produce actions and actions produce reactions at grosser and grosser levels of frequency in a ripple effect!

While positive thoughts are universally acknowledged to manifest as health, negative thoughts are held to produce disease or lack of ease. Mental disease is manifested as depression, depressive psychosis, mania or even schizophrenia.

Treating depression with Reiki is fast becoming a sought-after alternative to modern drugs. Reiki deals with depression as negative energy. Negative energy manifests at the aura level as imbalance in the Chakras or energy centres and is visible to the Reiki practitioner as grey or black spots in the aura. Imbalance of the energy centres causes reactions at a physical level, for the energy centre governs the health or disease of the organs and endocrine glands located within its purview.

The Chakra System and Depression

The Chakras that are usually blocked in a person who is depressed are the lower–the root chakra, the naval chakra, and to some extent the solar plexus chakra, which is part of the middle group.

The Root Chakra anchors the person to the earth. It represents the physical will and is associated with the spinal column, bones, teeth, nails, anus, rectum, colon, prostrate gland, blood and the building of cells. The Suprarenal glands, which produce adrenalin and influence body temperature, are governed by condition of the root chakra. The person whose root chakra is out of balance cannot accept life or enjoy physical existence. The creative energy of such a person is low and self-expression is not considered necessary. The person will have a tendency to overindulge in sensual pleasures such as overeating, alcohol, sex etc. He or she becomes selfish, self-centred. Physically the person becomes overweight and suffers from constipation. When challenged the person becomes irritable, aggressive, upset, violent and displays a complete lack of trust. If the Chakra is completely blocked the person will lack physical and emotional stamina and will be filled with feelings of uncertainty.

The Naval Chakra is the creative and reproductive centre of the being. It is associated with the pelvic girdle, kidneys, bladder and all liquids such as blood, lymph, gastric juices and the regulation of the female menstrual cycle. The glands associated with this chakra are the Prostrate, gonads, ovaries and testicles. If this energy centre is active and free of blocks the person exhibits freedom in self-expression and life appears interesting. Interpersonal relationships are regarded as beautiful. A disharmonious chakra induces the person turn off sensual messages and display low self-esteem, emotional paralysis and sexual coldness. Life does not seem worth living and suicidal tendencies manifest themselves.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is the power centre of the being. A harmonious Chakra gives the person a feeling that he has the power of shaping things. It is associated with the lower back, abdomen, digestive system, stomach, liver, spleen, gallbladder and the automatic nervous system. The organ that is governed by this Chakra is the Pancreas. The body absorbs solar energy through this chakra. This nurtures the ethereal body and energizes and maintains the physical body. Emotional energy is also governed by this Chakra. Personality traits and social identities are determined by it. Since it is located between the lower and higher chakras it has the additional function of purifies the basic instincts and directing the creative energy to higher values of life. It is also connected to the astral body and helps us integrate our feelings, wishes and experiences harmoniously. A block solar plexus chakra deprives the individual of the zest for life. The person feels gloomy, unbalanced and moody. Negative vibrations impact the individual through this chakra. The person is restless and attempts to manipulate everything in accordance with his or her own wishes. There is a persistent feeling of inadequacy, which drives them to ceaseless activity. The person gets easily threatened and tends to feel dejected and discouraged. The person insists that obstacles are preventing them from realizing the true goals of life.

It is clear that the symptoms of a person in the grip of acute depression are as much physical as emotional and psychological. A block will exist in the root chakra, the naval chakra and the Solar plexus Chakra. The creative energies of the person will be at an all time low and the person will avoid situations where he or she has give expression to his or her feelings. He is self indulgent, selfish, self-centred and suffers from a large number of ailments related to the stomach and has a tendency to put on weight. He or she will lack physical stamina and will be moody, irritable, aggressive and defensive. He will have no interest in life and will refuse to socialize. In extreme cases he will attempt suicide.

Case Study of Treating Depression with Reiki:

Ms.L, an obese woman (she weighed 180 Kgs), had not stepped out of her front door for the last ten years. She was convinced that she could not walk without support and that she would fall down if she tried. She spent entire days in the house, refusing to talk with visitors. She had a compulsive need to eat and would cook and consume huge quantities of Chicken, eggs and meats at odd times of the day. She had tried anti depressant drugs and other methods of treatment that included Homeopathy, acupressure, acupuncture and anything that was recommended to her by her sister and brother in law. She was convinced that she was born unlucky and she would never be normal again. She would begin a treatment with lukewarm enthusiasm, but would soon slip into lethargy and refuse to go on with the treatment. When Ms.L was referred for Reiki, she had convinced herself that she had not long to live and had told her sister not to be surprised if she found her dead one-day. Her sister– alarmed–rushed to the Reiki clinic for help.

Day 1: Since the patient would not come to the clinic, I decided to visit her home. It was clear from Ms.L’s posture that she was in the grip of acute depression. She was seated on a sofa with her feet up on a footstool. Her body limp, her head bowed and her shoulders drooping. Her arms lay lifelessly at her sides. She seemed lost to the world and did not even look up when we entered the room. She merely lifted her eyes to look at us without enthusiasm when she was talked to. An aura scan revealed that her root chakra and the naval chakra were completely blocked and her solar plexus chakra was partially blocked.

With a lot of persuasion from her sister and myself, she got up and went to lie down on her bed. I noted that she used the walker even though she was perfectly able to walk without it. She seemed to cling to it as a means of support. I kept up a general chatter as I started the treatment. She continued looking at the ceiling blankly. After some time, she started to pay a little more attention. Her muscles would twitch and she lifted her head to see what we are doing. She called her sister near and asked her whether we were using some chemicals as she was feeling some heat where my hand rested. When she was assured that no chemicals were being used, she subsided once more into indifference. Slowly and visibly she began to relax. She soon fell into a deep sleep and began to snore. As the round of treatment was over, we let her sleep.

Day 2: Ms. L was waiting for me. She looked relaxed and calm. On enquiry, she replied, “I slept deeply and dreamlessly for the first time. I feel well”. She then went willingly and lay down on her bed. After chatting with her for some time on a variety of topics (she did not reply), I started the treatment. While doing Reiki, I continued to chat and Ms.L replied in monosyllables to the questions being addressed to her. At the end of the hour she remarked, “That felt nice”.

Day 3: Mrs. L was ready for me. She was lying down and eager to start the treatment. She began to talk about the weather all the time keeping an eye on me. When I agreed that it was hot, she began telling me how the heat was affecting her and how she could not eat as much as she used to. I made sympathetic noises to encourage her. She seemed to feel reassured and gradually opened up–almost as if she were talking to herself and occasionally asking me a question. Then, her tone changed and she became more emotional and personal. She poured out her feelings. She insisted that she was very depressed because God had taken away her husband and her children had all flown away to distant lands and nobody cared for her. She said she had hated God from the day he had taken her husband and she had not gone to church or prayed for a long time. Since she had been very religious, she felt guilty that she had forsaken God but, she hated him and she did not want to pray to him. She then began weeping and ranting at God and exclaiming that she should not be doing it! This emotional outburst lasted for almost an hour, during which I continued the treatment, unfazed. Finally, exhausted by emotions and relaxed by the Reiki, Ms.L fell asleep.

Day 4: Ms.L was waiting for me–a little shamefaced and diffident. She greeted her with a defiant “I was carried away a little yesterday. I am sorry”. I assured her that it was OK and that she must not hold back her emotions and that I do not mind her talking to me about anything. She then, asked me a little suspiciously ‘Do you think your treatment is making me unbalanced?”. Well that was a tricky question at this stage and I was not very sure whether I should admit to the fact or assure her that it was not so. I intuitively felt that it would be better to explain to Ms.L and so I told her that Reiki dives deep into the psyche and stirs up emotional blocks for release. I explained that what she was experiencing was the release of emotional blocks and it was nothing to be alarmed about. It would help her come out of her lethargy and feel more enthusiastic about life. She was silent for some time and then said that she was glad that I had been honest with her. She only requested that whatever she said to me should be kept confidential. I agreed and she said she was looking forward to the treatment. As we went through the various hand positions, she started asking me about Reiki and what it was all about. I explained to her about energy centres and how imbalances in energy caused illness. She expressed eagerness to learn it herself. I told that it could be easily arranged. She then began to talk to me about her husband and the wonderful man that he had been and how cancer had eaten into his insides unsuspected. She described the shock they had experienced when the disease was diagnosed at a terminal stage. She described the trauma of waiting for death to part them. She re-lived the pain she had felt when he went to the hospital for the last time and she could not be with him during his last minutes, as she was laid up in bed at home with a fracture. She felt she had let him down and was guilty of continuing to live when he had died such an agonizing death. She then sobbed quietly till she fell asleep exhausted by her emotions.

Day 5: Ms.L was looking very anxious when I entered her room. She immediately piped up “Do you think God is cruel?” I cautiously replied “No”. She then asked, “Do you think I should begin to pray to him? Do you think he will hear my prayers now? I have abused him so much!” I was impressed. I said, “Yes, you should. God is very forgiving and he is always happy to welcome his children, however abusive they have been!” She was content with my reply and got ready for the treatment. While I worked the hand positions she continued telling me how much she loved God and how she had missed her conversations with him. She then told me she is convinced that her husband was waiting for her in heaven and she would join him when God felt that it was time. Meanwhile she had a lot to do. She had written to her son and asked him to come back home to keep her company and was in hourly expectation of hearing from him. She then began thanking me for the wonderful treatment that I was giving her and she was convinced that God had sent me to her when she was most depressed.

Days 6-21: Followed with the patient very enthusiastic and cooperative. She gradually left off her walker and her posture improved and she stuck to mealtimes with determination. She even consented to step out of her house and take short walks in the corridor with her sister. A month later she completed a course in Reiki and even visited a textile showroom to select some dress material for her. She invited me over for a party she held to celebrate her Son’s return home. (The boy had left his job to take up one closer home to be with his mother). She was bubbling with energy and extremely enthusiastic about life. A quick scan of her chakras revealed that the energy levels were normal and the grey spots in her aura at the root and naval chakra had disappeared. The Solar plexus Chakra was also open.

Combining Reiki With Other Therapies.

Many Reiki practitioners combine crystal therapy with Reiki to stimulate the chakras. Limonite, Lapis Lazuli, Pietersite, and Turquoise are used to stimulate the sacral Chakra Wardite, Mesolite, Jasper, and Jet, help the base chakra open up. The Solar Plexus Chakra is stimulated by chrysanthemum stone, gypsum, jasper, obsidian and rutilated quartz.. Wadeite is used to stimulate all the chakras. I personally, combine Reiki treatment with Bach Flower treatment and crystal therapy as I find that it accelerates the healing and gives the patient a psychological satisfaction.

As is evident from the above case study, that Reiki brings about immediate and dramatic improvement in condition of persons suffering from depression. It is also evident from countless testimonials that persons who have come out of their depression by using Reiki have not had a recurrence of the same. Many hospitals round the world are recommending Reiki as a parallel system of treatment. Treating depression with Reiki is becoming a recognized practice within hospitals and more so with local doctors. The efficacy and impact of Reiki is best understood when it is personally experienced.

Resolving Chronic Sinusitis – Beyond the Neti Pot

I talk to more and more people who tell me they have not only allergies, but chronic sinus problems as well. I used to be one of those people. There was a period in my life, that for two months out of the year I could not go more than 10 feet from a box of tissues without having to use my sleeve. That was when I discovered how effective acupuncture is for allergy relief. I had one treatment and never had another sniffle or itch again. Even though I’ve been much better since then, I do get occasional symptoms. I keep dairy and other mucus forming foods to a minimum, use my neti pot regularly, and have had subsequent acupuncture treatments…I felt like I had not figured out how to manage the issue 100%. A couple of weeks ago I caught a little bug and within 12 hours I had sinus pressure to the point I could not sleep. To me this was clear evidence that I had already had a sinus issue brewing.

Symptoms of Chronic sinusitis include:

• Drainage of a thick, yellow or greenish discharge from the nose or down the back of the throat

• Nasal obstruction or congestion, causing difficulty breathing through your nose

• Pain, tenderness and swelling around your eyes, cheeks, nose or forehead

• Aching in your upper jaw and teeth

• Reduced sense of smell and taste

• Cough, which may be worse at night. Other signs and symptoms can include:

• Ear pain

• Sore throat

• Bad breath (halitosis)

• Fatigue or irritability

• and Nausea.

Additionally, occult infections –ones that are low-grade enough to avoid detection, are responsible for suppressing overall immune function and putting the body under a huge amount of stress. Stress makes weight loss difficult and contributes to a host of other serious health conditions. I know the anatomy of a human head and the laws of physics well enough to know that there is no way the saline solution from my neti pot is getting everywhere it has to wash away pollen, viruses, bacteria, mold, and fungi that floats in the air. Antibiotics are a notoriously poor way of addressing sinus issues because of the lack of blood flow to the area –after all, sinuses are hollow spaces!

I went on a hunt for a deeper solution, literally! After a bit of research I came across a sinus rinse technique different and better than anything I had read before. This technique involves making a hypertonic rinse solution and getting it into all of the recesses of the sinus cavities to rinse out the offending material and to soothe and shrink inflamed sinus tissue. The “FRIGGY FLIP TURN” is a safe and effective method to irrigate all 8 of the sinuses instead of only the 2 or 4 that the neti pot effectively reaches. In addition to the detailed explanation of how to do it, there are over 200 comments from people who have used the technique, often after a lifetime of chronic problems, who had miraculous results.

Taking control of sinus health is easy. I did the “flip” for a couple of weeks after my little episode and it worked like a charm. By the end of the 2nd day I was completely out of pain. It also eliminated the persistent post-nasal drip I had too. Whether you have occasional or chronic problems, this could very well be the solution you have been looking for. Since the Friggy Flip-Turn guide is lacking in pictures I had to do some trial and error to get it just right. If you have questions or want some extra guidance I would be happy to help. It would be my pleasure to further the crusade against sinus pain and post nail drip (not to mention the halitosis. LOL!).

Having Hypoglycemia Without Having Diabetes

A growing number of people are starting to show sympotoms of hypoglycemia, but don’t have diabetes. Is this a possibility? The answer is yes. Hypoglycemia, which is also called as reactive hypoglycemia, is more like a sensitivity to sugar in the blood than it is a diabetic response due to improper insulin levels. When persons suffering from hypoglycemia without diabetes don’t eat or have poor eating habits, it can cause dips in blood sugar and erratic levels, which can initiate a wide variety of unpleasant symptoms including symptoms like dizziness, headaches, irritability, fainting, and many more. It has been observed that with blood sugar levels, how quickly the blood sugar levels change can actually matter more than the overall levels. So in some cases, if the blood sugar has spikes and dips within normal ranges, yet the time frame is quick, it can cause symptoms to arise.

Different people have different nominal blood sugar levels. Not just that, but symptoms that arise from low blood sugar are much more intense in some persons than in other people. And in a sense, all of us suffer from hypoglycemia. Anyone with low blood sugar is going to exhibit some symptoms show up. They’ll probably feel light headed, fatigued, dizzy and irritable. But for many, their blood sugar dips lower than most and the corresponding symptoms that arise are also more serious. These people are more likely to be true victims of reactive hypoglycemia.

Reactive hypoglycemia is generally set off by a couple of factors. One is consuming foods high in starches and simple carbs. A second is having poor eating habits, like going many hours without a meal, or skipping a meal. These things can cause reactive hypoglycemia to start and a range of miserable symptoms to happen. If you read stories from people who suffer from hypoglycemia, you’ll start to see a common theme that the medical community doesn’t generally diagnose people who have that condition. They generally tell them that there’s not really anything wrong or that there isn’t much they can do. If this sounds like your situation, then there are a couple of things you can try.

So in some ways, it is up to you to find out how your own body operates and reacts to the foods that you eat and to your eating habits. Many people try using food journals. They’ll write down the things they eat, how much and how often they eat, and how they feel throughout the day. By keeping a food journal, it does not take long before you start figuring out which foods are bad for them and which foods are helpful. In addition to this, many people try experimenting a little bit, especially with breakfast. Breakfast is particularly important for sufferers of hypoglycemia, and what you eat for breakfast and how much you eat can definitely get you off to a good start and can make a big difference in how the remainder of the day unfolds. However, if you start the day poorly, it can take a long time to get yourself feeling normal and good again.

Trans Fat and the Effect on the Human Body

Fats, calories, obesity…all these life-threatening words seem to be ruling the life of today’s youth. The recent in addition is Trans fat. For those who are not aware, it is a kind of fat which is created when the liquid oils get solidified partial hydrogenation. These fats account for at least 30,000 premature deaths in US within a single year span. The health experts also hold the belief that reducing the intake of these Trans fats would considerably lower down the annual rates of heart attacks (by 6,300).

According to recent researches, Trans fats have been declared as “the biggest food-processing disasters in US history”. You will mostly find them in processed foods like pies, doughnuts, cakes, cookies, potato chips and so on.

The dangers of Trans fats are quite few in number:

o Hardening of arteries – Trans fats accumulate in the arteries over time and eventually when they get clogged, the person suffers from a stroke or heart attack.

o Obesity – It is yet another dangerous resultant of Trans fats. If you consume more of Trans fats, you are sure to become overweight over time, and this again leads to a series of health issues.

To avoid the dangers of Trans fats you can follow some precautionary measures:

o Make use of olive oil in cooking as much as possible.

o Make use of liquid margarine instead of hard stick one.

o When you are planning to go out for meals, make sure you avoid all kinds of junk stuffs.

o Also see it to it that you do not consume food making use of partially hydrogenated oils.

A group called ‘Ban Trans Fats’ has started a national campaign in US to create social awareness. So if you intend to live a healthy life, avoid food items with any percentage of Trans fats.

Home Cure For Eczema – An Alternative to Harmful Prescription Drugs

If you’re looking for a home cure for eczema as an alternative to expensive prescription and ineffective over the counter medicines, you’re not alone. There are proven home cures for eczema that are not only less expensive, but work faster than typical topical treatments. Natural eczema remedies do not harm your body with side effects such as thinning of the skin, infections, or worse yet, weakening your immune system.

Home cures for eczema work for all types of eczema: atopic eczema, contact dermatitis, xerotic eczema, seborrhea dermatitis, and other less common forms. Eczema is profiled as red skin rashes with intense itching. Eczema sufferers know all too well the affects the never ending itch cycle can have on oneself. Often sleep is greatly affected, interrupted by itching, scratching, burning; more itching, scratching, burning, and so on. This, of course, leads to terrible skin damage and scars. Many eczema sufferers are self-conscious about going into to public or wearing any type of revealing clothes due to their red, scarred, and bleeding skin.

The four types of common eczemas are:

Atopic Eczema – An itchy rash that appears most often on the face, neck, scalp, inside of elbows, behind knees, or on the buttocks. This eczema is common for those with hay fever or asthma and often has a hereditary factor.

Contact Dermatitis – The most common type of eczema, this rash is developed from either an allergic reaction or contact with an irritant such as chemicals or solvents.

Xerotic Eczema – Also known as winter itch, the skin is so severely dry and cracked that it further develops into eczema. This type of eczema is common among the elderly.

Seborrhea Dermatitis – Scaly pimples and red patches of the scalp and eyebrows. This type of eczema is also known as cradle cap or dandruff.

Prescription drugs can actually cause more harm to eczema sufferers. Immunosuppressants, such as Prednisone, can lead to abdominal pains, changes in vision, irregular heartbeat, nausea, body pains, bone deterioration, growth stunting, sleep trouble (eczema sufferers have enough trouble sleeping as it is), rapid weight gain, wounds that won’t heal (weakened immune system), vomiting, constant tiredness, and more. Imagine my own horror when doctors ordered bone density scans to check the side effects from my constant Prednisone use. What’s more is that once you stop the medication, the eczema comes right back.

I learned that there is a better way to cure eczema, utilizing the power of natural ingredients that work to heal the body the way it was meant to be. There are zero side effects and your skin really can return to its natural health and radiance. A home cure for eczema is an alternative you can’t afford not to try. You can cure your eczema faster and easier than you ever had hoped.

Best Cold Sore Treatment From Nature

If cold sore treatment is top priority for you right now, quickly read this short article. It reveals many outstanding cold sore treatment options from nature that you should begin using immediately.

Cold sores are always the result of the herpes simplex virus when it is actively replicating new virus particles. The end result are one or more blister-like sores on your lip or nose. These blisters are filled with a thick fluid and are very distracting to you and those talking to you. They usually come together to form a single, huge sore.

There is no known way to eliminate the herpes virus from your body, but you can slow down and prevent outbreaks with a few selected cold sore treatments.

One very popular cold sore treatment is with ice. Hold ice to the infected area for about 10 minute sessions at two hour intervals. This will help bring down the swollen tissue, and ease the pain.

Keep in mind, however, to stop using ice once the blister opens up. Then you switch over to hot compresses for fastest recovery.

A wet bag of tea will also be helpful. Hold the tea bag to the sore area for several minutes every 2 hours.

Also, it is an excellent idea to warm up the tea bag (do not burn yourself) and use it as a hot compress. Do this as 20 minute sessions at least four times each day to help relieve the troublesome symptoms.

Witch hazel is an excellent dryer and will encourage faster healing when used to dehydrate active blisters. Essential oils, such as peppermint or lemon, or the gel from fresh Aloe Vera can give soothing relief from your blisters.

Put a little household sugar directly on the blisters. Sugar is quite effective against bacteria, virus and fungal infections, and will help dry up the sore. Honey actually does a better job and is easier to apply.

Herbs frequently used for cold sore treatment include peppermint, sage, garlic and Valerian root.

Many of these actually offer up a natural source of anti-viral medication, which really helps with a speedy healing experience. Some also contain nutrients that greatly enhance your immune system for higher resistance to viral attacks.

Echinacea is a powerful herb and is known for its ability to quickly dehydrate cold sores. As an internal remedy, it is well proven against virus and bacterial infections.

Healing really accelerates when your sores dry up. Keeping the area well cleansed and the blister as dry as possible will help to a great degree. When a blister opens up, you are susceptible to a secondary bacterial infection. This is why cleanliness is so important.

Drinking sufficient water each day helps cleanse and strengthen your body in its fight against this virus. Some folks stay away from alcohol because they find it can trigger their outbreaks, although wine can actually help.

Alcohol will dehydrate you and weaken your immune system, both of which will render you susceptible for an outbreak of cold sores.

If you find yourself getting a lot of cold sores, you can slow them down dramatically with just a few changes in your habits.

Stress is the most common trigger for cold sores. Explore methods of lowering your stress levels – Daily exercise is a very good idea and it greatly reduces the bad effects of stress. Try to limit sugar and other foods that cause acid in your system.

All the herpes viruses are extremely contagious so there are things you should avoid when coming into contact with others.

Avoid kissing and sharing cups, towels, or eating utensils with an infected person. Lack of care and cleanliness will often be the cause of virus spread. If you are infected, wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your eyes, face and genitals.

Without a doubt, however, the easiest and best cold sore treatment is preventing them from occurring. Following a healthy way of living is always wise, and especially helpful in keeping outbreaks to a minimum.

Be sure to test a variety of cold sore treatments to sort out which work best for you. There are some very good web sites where you will find a lot more cold sore treatment ideas, along with exact directions for best success.

Remember, watch what you eat, get some regular exercise, limit alcohol intake, take some good daily vitamins and get adequate rest. All these things will enable you immune system to work at peak performance and lessen the quantity and severity of your cold sores.

Cupuacu Butter – Ingredient to Look For in the Best Skin Cream For Wrinkles and Dry Skin

About a couple years ago I began looking into new moisturizers. As I began to investigate first-rate natural products I came across a Amazonian fruit butter called Cupuacu (pronounced cup-oo-as-soo) Butter. As I began to investigate this super butter, I found that it comes from the seed of a fruit that it has been grown for generations in the Rain forest. Cupuacu has been a staple food of the rain forest inhabitants and is used for medicinal purposes. The fruit looks like a small football shaped melon which can weigh up to 4 pounds, and although its not as well known as the other Amazonian super antioxidant acai, It may well have many of the benefits of its better known friend. Andrew Zimmern of the Travel Channel described cupuacu as “the pharmacy of the Amazon.”

But enough about the fruit, what I was interested in was the moisturizing properties of the seeds of the cupuacu, which are similar in size to large grape. After the fruit falls to the ground the seeds are removed and dried with warm air, after they have been dried, the butter is extracted by pressing the seeds in a screw press. Once the butter is pressed it is then decanted (the process of pouring off a liquid leaving the solid butter on the bottom of the container) and filtered. Finally we are left with the butter of the Cupuacu fruit.

Cupuacu butter is very creamy in texture and has a light wonderful smell of chocolate. The butter is a solid, but as it hits the warmth of skin it begins to melt, therefore it is perfect for use in skin creams, balms, and even hair products.

Studies have shown that cupuacu butter is highly beneficial for dry and damaged skin and hair. It has properties that promote long lasting skin hydration. Some studies have compared it to a much more powerful vegan replacement for lanolin, giving skin significantly more ability to easily absorb and retain water. Because of the high levels of phytosterols within cupuacu butter, the skin can more easily retain its elasticity, help in the treatment of eczema and dermatitis, and reduce the appearance and development of wrinkles. Studies have also shown that cupuacu butter offers the skin broad-spectrum protection from both damaging UV-A and UV-B rays.

Penis Health and Frottage: Safety Tips

Frottage is defined in a number of ways. Some people mean “dry-humping,” or rubbing the genitals against another person while both are clothed; some people use the word to describe the highly illegal and immoral practice of rubbing oneself against others in a crowd for sexual pleasure. Here, frottage will refer to the act of two or more bodies rubbing together clothed or unclothed to achieve sexual stimulation.

Since it is a type of sexual activity that involves no penetration, some may think that the practice is 100% safe. Yet that may not be the case. In the interest of maintaining optimal penis health, men need to know the risks associated with this activity.

Anytime a man’s semen enters a woman’s vagina, there is a possibility of pregnancy. Researchers still aren’t sure if pre-seminal fluid can cause pregnancy, but it may be able to do so. This means that people engaging in genital rubbing may still run the risk of conceiving if they allow the man’s fluids near the opening of the woman’s vagina.

Sexually transmitted infections can be passed through skin-to-skin contact or through bodily fluids like penile or vaginal discharge, or blood. Some STIs that can be contracted through bare frotting are herpes, HPV, HIV and pubic lice.

It’s always a good idea to ask sexual partners the following:

– When were they last tested, for what, and what were the results?

– Have they had new partners since then?

– How well do they know their past partners’ sexual histories?

– Do they use condoms with other partners?

Other Infections

Jock itch is caused by an overgrowth of the tinea cruris fungus and is a common groin rash among men. Though it rarely impacts women, it is possible for the fungus to spread to them.

If a woman has a yeast infection, she can pass it through her fluids to a man. Even if he’s not penetrating, if she is wet and his penis gets her fluids on it, it’s possible to contract the yeast infection.

Rough, dry skin is a common result of friction, and there’s no shortage of friction while frotting, especially if partners are doing so clothed. The vaginal area may become sore and raw, as may the penis. Both these results often come along with penetrative sex as well.

Safety First

Frotting partners will be safest if they take precautions against possible health issues related to the practice. If pregnancy is not desired and the partners are engaging in genital rubbing, it’s a good idea to use condoms even though penetration isn’t occurring. This can also help prevent the spread of any infections that may be in the area, although it doesn’t guarantee this.

Another thing couples may want to do is use lubricant while frotting. This can help prevent a lot of dry skin and chafing issues. If wearing clothes, try to avoid rough materials like denim and garments with buttons or zippers.

Men may overlook the importance of skin care, but maintaining healthy penile skin is imperative not only for the look and feel of the manhood, but for its ability to sense pleasure as well. That’s why it’s a good idea for men to use a quality penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil). With both Shea butter and vitamin E, this crème is a fantastic moisturizer made specifically for the penis. It also includes acetyl L-carnitine, which protects nerves from the kind of damage that often comes with rough handling. This may help men maintain a high level of sensitivity, meaning a more pleasurable sex life. Keeping the penis in peak condition is always advised, and doing so is easier with Man1 Man Oil.

Frequent Urination Symptom – Its 2 Links To Allergies Exposed

People know the common effects of allergies: runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes or hives. However, there can be a number of different ways your body reacts to an allergic reaction that range from headaches to gastric problems. Having allergies and frequent urination is a symptom many people have not realized exists. It mostly depends on your allergic trigger and your body’s sensitivity to it.

Here are a number of a couple of reasons why allergies and frequent urination could occur:

1. Medications – Allergies and frequent urination could be tied to the medicines you are taking. There are many medicines, not just allergy medications that have side effects, one being frequent urination. You could be having an allergic reaction to the medication. Before you stop taking the medication, visit your doctor and rule out any other causes such as a urinary tract infection. If your medicine is a problem, the only way to fix the problem would be to find another prescription that does not cause the same problem but does the same job as the previous medicine.

2. Wheat allergies – Wheat allergies are one of the rarest forms of food allergies, but do exist. When a person is allergic to wheat, they are allergic to the protein in wheat called gluten. A person’s body overreacts to the gluten producing a large number of antibodies causing an array of symptoms such cramps, diarrhea and asthma. Wheat allergies and frequent urination have been linked. The only way to help this allergy is by eliminating wheat from your diet. With society becoming more health conscious and offering wheat alternatives, this could be a problem, but your body will thank you for it.

One of the ways to track to see if allergies and frequent urination are related is to keep a food journal. Keep a log of everything you eat and drink in a day. You may find that after you have a particular type of food you are visiting the bathroom more often. This could happen especially with foods and beverages that are acidic such as sodas, coffee and salsa. A detailed journal is important to take with you when visiting your doctor and seeing if allergies and frequent urination are related.

Allergies and frequent urination could be a problem if it is affecting your work or personal life. If you notice you are urinating more frequently, visit your doctor.

However, the tie between allergies and frequent urination is not concrete. There are also people who have abnormal reactions to different products, which can cause frequent urination. There is no real rhyme or reason as to why except your body is having an adverse chemical reaction. If you are suffering from frequent urination consult a doctor because there could be a more serious problem such an enlarged prostate, as prostate cancer or a urinary tract infection.

Fight Depression at Home – Ten Tips For Healing Depression Naturally

Make constant connections with other people. The nature of a depressed person is to avoid interaction-however, humans are social and must make daily connections to thrive. Start a friendly conversation with a greeter at your local store. Call your mom and talk about your plans for Thanksgiving. Ask the neighbor about current politics. Do whatever it takes to keep talking, and keep connecting.

Each day, make it a priority to devote some time to YOUR OWN emotional health. Your mind needs “fine-tuning” and upkeep, much like your car. Most of us will jump through hoops to make others feel happy. Make a point to do the same for YOURSELF, at least once each day. Do you like bubble baths? Do nature walks make you feel calmer? Your brain is an organ. Like the rest of your body, your brain benefits from exercise and your brain will thrive on rest. Many activities we consider “luxury” are actually the things that keep our brains healthy. For example, don’t EVER hesitate to SIT ALONE read a book. Try reading a book about mental health. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER when it comes to depression. Learn everything you can about yourself and your options for healing. Join a support group or call up a friend that might relate to your fight against depression. Taking the time to learn how to fight is NOT A LUXURY. Try this right now: Think of the person in this world that needs you most. What would you do to help them if they were suffering from depression?…now duplicate that energy and GIVE IT TO YOURSELF!

Animal companionship has the amazing power of healing through unconditional love. Animals have compassion without judgment. For a depressed person, love without limits can be as powerful as air. Not able to have pets? Too overwhelmed to care for another life? Borrow your furry friend. One way to spend time with a furry species is to volunteer at your local rescue shelter. Offer yourself for doggy daycare for your working neighbor. Regularly volunteering to walk a friend’s dog can be therapeutic for both you and the animal.

“Spirit” can be defined in terms of your inner strength and your connection to a greater purpose. A helpful way to navigate through depression is to find your core belief and form a strong connection to it. Spend time in your favorite church, synagogue or outdoor environment. No matter what your religion, explore what “spirit” means to you. With a sense of spirit and belief you can begin to overcome anything.

Exposing your body to the right form of light is essential in the treatment of depression. It’s true that sunlight provides the vitamin D that nourishes your mind. However, too much sun can damage the rest of your body. Want to know a trick to getting the light you need without having to worship the sun? Buy a natural light sunlamp from one of your local “mega-stores” and spend a few minutes each day in front of it.

Depression may make you feel like staying in bed, this is NOT SLEEPING. There is a big difference between sleeping and “lying down”. True sleep means allowing your body and mind to rest through REM (deep) sleep. Dedicate 8 solid hours EACH NIGHT toward an attempt at deep sleep.

Many people are not aware that most counselors are trained in problem solving and life skills, not medicating. An important difference between a psychiatrist and a counselor is the focus on medication; most counselors cannot medicate you, their focus is to “advise” and “educate” you toward healing. Counseling can be comfortable place to start exploring your needs and solutions. (If you are experiencing signs of severe depression, such as a desire to harm yourself or others, CALL 911 and seek immediate medical attention).

If you are suffering from mild to moderate depression, you may still have doubts about calling for an appointment…you are certainly not alone! Depression is known to cause self-doubt that will create hesitancy in reaching out to others. Remember that the fear of seeking help is a symptom of your depression, making the disease all the more dangerous. Do not let depression trick you into avoiding the care you need. Give yourself immediate permission to seek the help of a counselor or other depression specialist.

Walk, run, dance, stretch…get up and move. Exercise induces your body to produce vital chemical that are linked to fighting depression. Most doctors will tell you that 30 minutes of exercise a day is optimal. No time?…while dealing with depression even a ten minute walk can make a big difference. Next time you need groceries, park your car as far away from the store as possible. A brisk walk into the store will allow your body to produce the “happy” chemicals that are known to alleviate depression. Of course, it is vital to talk your doctor before making any changes to your exercise routine.

You can STOP buying over the counter “detoxify” powders, expensive pills, or suffering through invasive colon treatments. Do your research before you invest in expensive drugs that claim to cleanse your system. In most cases, the cleansing of your body is something the human system is ALREADY prepared to do! NATURE provides certain nutrients that eliminate toxins naturally. In fact, prescribed medications are capable “zapping” vital nutrients. These are the nutrients most important for fighting depression, yet synthetic pills are capable of depleting them! IMPORTANT: never stop taking prescribed medication without talking to your doctor first. Only a licensed physician can evaluate the safety of medication changes.

Doctors and scientist have been working for years to find the “perfect” chemical that will combat depression. While they have made many advances in the alleviation of some symptoms, depression still exist in a great number of people. Ask yourself this: How many wild animals have you seen that are clinically depressed? If your answer is none, then perhaps we need to take a closer look at those other species. What is it about wild animals that allow them to emotionally thrive when millions of humans are depressed? One conclusive finding is DIET, what we eat and how we eat it. Humans are the only species that will “fuel to feel”. Other species do not attach emotional baggage to food. Animals eat exactly what their instincts tell them to seek out and ingest. They eat to fuel, and through fueling they emotionally thrive. The book, Fighting Depression with Food teaches you how to avoid “emotional eating” and gives you a detailed list of the foods you need to start fueling the way your body needs. Again, only a licensed physician can evaluate the safety of changes in your diet. Consult your doctor before making any changes to your disease treatment.

This includes his drive to be successful in his career. He wants to spend his time and future with a woman who respects his need to pursue his own career and who is also immersed in hers. Don’t spend your time with him complaining about your job. That will instantly turn him off. Instead, tell him what you aspire to be and show him that you’re serious about being a contributing financial partner in your relationship.

You also can’t play games with a man like this. Capricorn men don’t find drama appealing at all and they don’t want to be tricked into a commitment. They can see through any manipulation you might use to secure a more serious relationship, so don’t even attempt this. If you can be patient, you’ll find that he’ll be more drawn to you. Pressuring a man like this will only backfire. Instead show him that you know he’s worth waiting for and he’ll fall deeper and deeper in love with you.
