Be a Cynic When Choosing a Medical Clinic

So you’re in need of a medical clinic? It’s a broad term. What is it you are looking for? Below are several different types of medical clinics and descriptions of what each specializes in. When searching for a medical facility it is best to have all the information possible.

Medical Clinic 1

The Urgent Care Clinic

Since their boon in the mid 1970s Urgent Care Clinics have been serving many American communities. An Urgent Care Clinic is primarily an establishment for people who have a need for medical care that does not require a visit to a hospital emergency room. Nobody likes waiting hours to be seen by a doctor, as one must do at an emergency room. These clinics offer superb care, yet unlike an emergency room, have fixed hours of operation. This means that you can waltz into one in the middle of the night. If your medical problem warrants you do so, an emergency room is still the best place for you to go. The following are some of the medical issues that an Urgent Care Clinic specializes in.

Flu

Sinus infections

Bronchitis

Pink eye

Sore throat

Cuts and bruises

Ear infection

Food poisoning

…and more

Medical Clinic 2

The Walk In Clinic

These facilities are tailor made for people on-the-go and whose time is important to them. If you are one of those previously mentioned people whose idea of a good time does not include sitting in a hospital emergency room for hours, then you will want to read on. Walk In Clinics are exactly what they sound like they are: a place to receive excellent medical care without an appointment-and without the drudgery of the emergency room. There’s a lot to be said for a place that will see you without an appointment, especially when one is sick. These clinics are usually affordable and provide excellent care. They usually accept a large variety of medical insurance and offer discounted rates for those unlucky enough to be without insurance. The following are some of the medical issues that a Walk In Clinic specializes in.

The same problems that are listed above, plus…

Pneumonia

Diarrhea

Asthma

Allergies

Bladder infections

Headaches

Back pain

…and more

Medical Clinic 3

The STD Clinic

Sexually transmitted diseases are a big problem in the United States. It is estimated that roughly 1 in 5 people in America currently have an STD-and over half of them are completely unaware of it! Anyone who is sexually active should include a visit to an STD Clinic as part of their general health regimen. Yes, it can be a tad embarrassing to admit that you may have “that kind” of a problem, but it is the responsible thing to do. Many STDs can cause serious harm so it is far better to bite the bullet and pay a visit to an STD Clinic instead of suffering the dire consequences later in life. Every one of these clinics understands their patients’ feelings and pride themselves on the fact that they are as discreet as possible. The following are some of the medical issues that an STD Clinic specializes in.

Fenugreek – Fights Diabetes, Heart Disease, Obesity

Although fenugreek seeds are used extensively in the recipes of countries in the Middle and Far East, in the West it is not as well known as many other spices.

Not only does fenugreek impart a characteristic flavour and tang to food but it also has several very important disease preventing characteristics.

In traditional medicine, fenugreek has been used to treat a number of conditions including diabetes, sore throats, and in poultices used to treat sores and abscesses. Recent investigations into the medicinal properties of this spice suggest it is important not only as a preventive for chronic diseases such as diabetes, but also for enhancing normal physiological processes, especially with respect to athletic

performance.

As with most spices it contains many antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds such as apigenin,

genistein, kaempferol, quercetin, rutin, selenium and superoxide-dismutase. It also contains compounds such as trigonelline that has shown to prevent the degeneration of nerve cells in neuro-degenerative diseases.

Medicinal properties of fenugreek

Cardiovascular disease and blood lipids

Fenugreek has a strong modulating effect on blood lipid levels and can substantially reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. In diabetics, who usually suffer lipid imbalances, it has demonstrated a remarkable ability to lower cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL levels while raising HDL levels. Another property of fenugreek is the reduction of platelet aggregation which, in turn, dramatically reduces the risk of abnormal blood clotting associated with heart attacks and strokes. Like most spices, fenugreek also contains many important antioxidants and has the added benefit of protecting other dietary and internally produced antioxidants from free-radical damage. This has important cardioprotective benefits, as well as helping to fortify the body against a range of other chronic conditions.

Diabetes

Fenugreek, which has comparable antidiabetic potency to cinnamon, is one of the most valuable spices for the control of glucose metabolism and thus the prevention and treatment of Type II diabetes.

Owing to its many properties it helps in the prevention and treatment of diabetes in several ways.

Working in a similar way to the common antidiabetic drug glibenclamide, fenugreek lowers cellular insulin resistance and controls blood glucose homeostasis. It has been shown to lower blood glucose levels of Type II diabetics by as much as 46 percent.

It also increases the levels of several important antioxidants and reduces the damaging oxidation of lipids associated with diabetes.

As an added bonus, fenugreek seeds are a very rich in a type of dietary fibre that modulates post-prandial blood glucose levels by delaying the absorption of sugar in the intestines. This mucilaginous fiber also reduces the absorption of fat and cholesterol from the intestines thus providing additional protection against heart disease and obesity.

Cataracts

Fenugreek is also effective against diabetes-related cataracts which occur commonly in diabetics. The enzymes that control glucose uptake into the lens of the eye do not function normally in diabetics and, as a result, glucose and its metabolites, fructose and sorbitol, accumulate in the lens tissues. The lenses of diabetic patients are also prone damage by enzymes that would normally protect against destructive free radicals, and a combination of these factors leads to the gradual opacification of the lens known as a cataract. As fenugreek has been shown to partially reverse both the metabolic changes in the lens and to reduce the density of the cataract, it is likely to be even more effective as a prophylactic agent against cataract formation in diabetics.

Alzheimer’s and other neuro-degenerative diseases

Fenugreek contains the compound trigonellene that has shown to stimulate the regeneration of brain cells. This property has stimulated further research to see whether it can help in the prevention of diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

Sport

One of the greatest difficulties facing athletes who compete in endurance events is maintaining a readily available supply of energy in the body. In order to achieve this, muscle carbohydrate stores, in the form of glycogen, must be continuously replenished. In an event lasting more than one-and-a-half hours, glycogen stores become depleted, and for the remainder of the event the athlete has to rely on external sources of energy, such as high carbohydrate drinks, which are inferior to glycogen as an energy source. Post event re-synthesis of glycogen is also very important, and the two hours immediately following prolonged exercise is the crucial time for this process to occur.

Fenugreek has been shown to have a strong effect on glycogen replenishment; increasing post-event re-synthesis by over 60 percent in some endurance athletes. While its effects on glycogen re-synthesis during an event have yet to be tested, fenugreek is likely to exhibit a similarly beneficial effect during, as well as after, exercise.

Hormones

Fenugreek is one of the richest sources of phytoestrogens and is thus a very useful spice for women who have low oestrogen levels. Phytoestrogens are also thought to help protect against certain types of cancer, and fenugreek may well be proven to have anti-tumourigenic effects should this property be investigated in the future.

Selenium

Fenugreek is one of the richest sources of selenium, which is among the most important antioxidant micronutrients. When consumed regularly, selenium appears to have a protective effect against a range of cancers, including those of the colon, lung and prostate. Recent evidence also shows that selenium helps to prevent the progression of HIV and other chronic viral illnesses.

While other spices like chilies and cinnamon hold the culinary and medicinal headlines, the research into fenugreek is showing us that this spice has health benefits on a par with, or even superior to, those of the better known spices.

However it is important to appreciate that synergism between different spices enhances the bioavailability and efficacy of their respective bioactive compounds. Therefore, to obtain optimum benefit from fenugreek, it is important to use it with other common spices in both the prevention and treatment of disease.

Five Top Home Remedies For Pupp Rash Relief

Pupp rash is a very itchy skin condition that some women develop during the third semester of pregnancy. It also can occur at an earlier stage of pregnancy. Many women find it arises in the stretch mark areas of the abdomen but can develop on the legs, arms, butt and chest area as well.

Trying to sleep with an itchy rash and big belly can seem almost impossible. If you have pupps, take a deep breath and remind yourself that your baby will not be harmed and this is temporary. When we know something is time-limited we ften can change our perspective. Most women will find the itching and rash ceases within a short period of delivering the baby. Of course, this can be a long period of time, if pupp rash develops during month six of pregnancy.

The mind is a powerful tool so keep your spirits up by visualizing your life with your newborn child in your arms, at the park and the bond you’ll share. Use visualizations, cds, decorating the baby’s room and other tools to focus on your child.

Here are some of the top home remedies for pupp rash relief that women recommend. Keep in mind that aspirin may be absorbed by the body so watch out for products that may have this ingredient that you rub on your body. Always check with your doctor.

1) Pine Tar Soap

Pine tar soap is recommended for a number of itchy skin conditions including eczema rashes. When you take a shower, wash your body with it using warm water that is not hot. Some women have commented that the red hives and itching started fading in two to five days.

2) Olive Oil

Apply to skin while it is remains wet after taking a shower. Some women have found relief also with coconut oil.

3) Dandelion Root

Dandelion root is a supplement available at health food stores that is said to aid the liver..

4) Baking Soda with Water Mix

Some women have found that mixing together baking soda with water and then applying to the skin has been a helpful solution. Corn starch in dry form can also be applied for temporary relief.

5) Banana Peels

I’ve read about this as a successful aid for other skin rash problems such as diaper rashes, poison ivy rash and itchy skin bites. Apply this to the pupps rash and get some relief. It is interesting to note that banana peels have

also been used for burns and warts. They contain potassium, enzymes and fiber.

Remember that as frustrating as you may be with the itchy pupps rash, your baby’s birth will reward you a thousand times over. Use those visualizations to get through these rough days.

Goodbye to Penis Pain and Chafing With 4 Pre-Workout Tips

Thanksgiving turkey, Christmas goose and Hanukkah latkes can all add up to a ring of fat around a man’s belly, and when he can no longer see the tips of his toes, off to the gym he might waddle. While strenuous workouts might do wonders for his post-holiday waistline, they can also result in penis pain and overall crotch soreness, especially if he’s not careful to prevent injuries from chafing.

Thankfully, with just 4 well-timed penis care techniques, men can keep their junk protected while they sweat the pounds away, and when the workouts are over, they’ll be ready for an altogether different kind of exercise.

1. Choose the Right Shorts.

Slipping on any old thing seems reasonable when it comes to workouts, as most clothes worn during exercise emerge from the activity drenched with sweat. It’s not the kind of abuse any guy would unleash upon his best clothes. However, choosing the wrong kind of clothes can quickly lead to serious penis pain issues.

Cotton clothing that bunches up during activity can trap delicate bits in a pool of moisture, and chafing can quickly follow. Wicking shorts with a built-in shelf can move moisture away from the skin while providing vital support for tissues that dangle. Shorts like this are a vital part of preparing for a pain-free workout.

2. Stay Trimmed Up.

Burying the Johnson in a bundle of hair means forcing delicate skin into contact with rough hairs that can also trap moisture particles. Any guy who goes this route is almost guaranteed to emerge from the activity with legendary crotch soreness, particularly if the exercise session lasts for a long period of time.

A quick trim with scissors should do the trick. A haircut can keep the bush from growing too big, but unlike a razor-based trim, a scissor cut leaves the ends of the hairs somewhat soft, so they won’t have the ability to do yet more damage as the hair continues to grow. Trims like this often must be repeated monthly, or even more frequently, but they can keep the penis from intimate abrasions.

3. Invest in a Lubricant.

Biking and long-distance running involve staying active for hours on end, with few opportunities for a costume change. Despite a man’s best efforts at planning, moisture is likely to build up during these tasks, and skin is likely to stick and scrape. Lubricant products, applied properly, can allow skin to slide and slip, without catching and burning. Sweat can remove these products, of course, but applying them before the workout can significantly reduce the burn a man might feel when the workout is through.

4. Keep the Penis Healthy.

Entering into an exercise session with a penis that’s dry, chafed and uncomfortable almost guarantees a painful finish. By taking the time to keep the penis healthy, long before the workout begins, men can ensure that they enter the playing field with healthy tissues that might resist the urge to break apart. Good steps include:

  • Drinking plenty of water
  • Avoiding perfumed soaps and deodorant sprays
  • Washing with warm water, not harsh soaps
  • Blotting, not scrubbing, the penis dry after a shower

A penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) can also support a healthy, pain-free manhood. These products contain ingredients that have the proven ability to nourish a man’s delicate parts, and the emollient action of the products can keep skin soft, smooth and supple. When penile skin is healthy from the inside out, it’s more likely to perform with ease during an exercise session, and it’ll be more likely to emerge untouched and ready for partnered playtime.

Penis Health Improves Dramatically With Shea Butter

If you suffer from dry or irritated skin on the foreskin or shaft of the penis, Shea Butter is a potent topical product that may help. Shea butter is the vegetable fat extracted from the nut of the African Shea Tree (Vitellaria paradoxa). Used for hundreds of years throughout Sub-Saharan countries for its skin healing, moisturizing and decongestant properties, Shea Butter is now industrially extracted for use in cosmetics and skin products worldwide. Unlike many other pharmaceutical products though, it causes very little or no irritation, promotes tissue health and skin nutrition long-term, and may resolve some skin conditions. If you suffer from nut allergies, use Shea Butter products with extreme caution.

Bioactive Against Skin Disorders

It is a medicinal product which may be beneficial to penis health, especially if a man is suffering from any inflammatory or pathogenic skin conditions. Between 3% to 10% of Shea Butter contains bioactive fractions that have therapeutic properties when applied to human tissues. While more research is still needed on the chemicals in Shea Butter, scientists have so far identified catechins (the same antioxidants found in green tea), vitamin E, triterpene alcohols that reduce inflammation, and lupeol which reduces enzymatic actions causing skin aging. A recent study from Nihon University in Japan confirmed the anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and anti-cancer properties of Shea Butter. If a man is diagnosed with eczema, psoriasis, itching, dry skin or an infection, it may be beneficial as a complementary topical treatment.

Vitamin E

When protecting penis health, nutrients such as vitamin E play an essential role. Vitamin E, also known as tocopherol, is found in high quantities in it and is responsible for some of its antioxidant, anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. When levels of Vitamin E are adequate in the tissues, skin cells on the penis are more resistant to UV-A and UV-B rays which penetrate clothing, signal transmission between nerves in the penis occur more quickly, and blood flowing to the penis travels easily during arousal. One recent study has linked vitamin E as a possible complementary therapy for male erectile dysfunction, confirming that vitamin E is an important vitamin for both health and pleasure. Using Shea Butter and products containing Shea Butter will help to enhance vitamin E levels in the body and in the local tissues of the male organ.

Skin Integrity

It improves the look and feel of the penis skin. Dehydration, poor nutrition, eczema, dry rubbing, excessive masturbation and vigorous sex all contribute to dry skin on the foreskin and shaft of the penis. When the skin does become rough and irritated, it is one product that may help restore skin moisture and strength. The Shea nut is a rich source of triglycerides, such as stearic and oleic acid, which are softening and moisturizing to the outer layers of the skin. Once absorbed into the deeper tissues, these triglycerides help to improve the feel of the skin on the penis, and improve sexual pleasure. Both the cosmetic and the pharmaceutical industry have recognised it’s immense value as an emollient, and as a result it is found as an ingredient in ointments, crèmes, lip balms, salves and sports rubs. For use on the penis, it is best to either use 100% organic Shea Butter, or look for a specialized penis health crème.

Penis Health Crèmes

Men can improve penis health by applying topical products known as penis health crèmes. Penis specific formulas (most professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) contain high levels of bioactive Shea Butter as well as various vitamins and amino acids for male health. For example, vitamin C has shown to support circulation to the penis, vitamin D is an antioxidant, Acetyl L Carnitine enhances nerve health and L-Arginine is required for strong male arousal. These nutrients are combined with amino acids and Shea butter for fast absorption, and can be applied daily to promote healthy skin and blood vessels in the penis.

Tips To Get Rid Of Jock Itch Odor

Jock itch does not only cause discomfort like itchiness and pain. It can become very smelly too. Fungi can exist in your body naturally. The moisture and warmth of your groin and genital area can be very stimulating for the growth of the fungi. This may lead to full blown fungal infection called jock itch. A lot of people have been infected by this. Most of them are physically active oftentimes. These fungi can produce smelly by products as they grow and multiply. In most fungal infections, foul odor is really a big problem. There are tips that will help you get rid of jock itch odor.

INCREASE ORAL FLUID INTAKE

You need more water so that you will be able to clean your body from the toxins that can cause this foul odor from fungi. Increase your oral fluid intake so that these toxins will be flushed out from your body through urine or sweat. Drink at least 8 glasses of water or more each day.

WEAR THE RIGHT CLOTHING

It is important that you wear appropriate clothing always. Wearing tight clothes or underwear will just trap the heat and will increase the moisture level in your groin. This can surely trigger the growth of fungi and production of foul waste products. Choose to wear loose fitting clothes made of cotton so that you are clean and dry all the time.

TOMATO JUICE AND SALT

Tomato juice or salt can be added to a bathtub filled with water. Add 200 ml of tomato juice in a bathtub. If you want to use salt, try to dissolve one cup of salt with water. What you need to do is to dip the affected areas inside the bathtub. Tomato and salt can ensure that the odor will be lessened for sure. This method can also help to hasten the healing process of the rashes.

BAKING SODA AND POWDER

You can use baking soda and powder to contain or eradicate the foul odor of fungal infection. You just need to sprinkle powder or baking soda on the affected areas. This will help in keeping the affected areas dry all the time. Moisture can make the odor worse so you need to make sure that you are always dry by using powder or baking soda.

WHITE VINEGAR

White vinegar does not only eradicate the foul odor of jock itch. It also helps in treating the infection. The acids in white vinegar can help in replenishing the lost acids of the skin due to fungal infection. It also minimizes the odor. Apply the vinegar topically on the infected areas using cotton. You can do it for at least twice a day to see positive results immediately.

The odor that jock itch may cause can be very humiliating especially if others will know about it. Thus, you have to do your best to get rid of this foul odor. There are various tips available for you to be able to do the right thing. Keep these in mind.

Allergies Vs Sinus Infection – Do I Have Allergies or a Sinus Infection?

Nasal symptoms affect millions of Americans all the time. But is it allergies or sinus infection? What’s the difference? How does it matter?

Allergic Rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis (hay fever) is an allergic response to pollen or other microscopic particles or organisms. Symptoms of allergic rhinitis include:

  • Itchy, watery eyes
  • Congestion
  • Sneezing
  • Runny nose

Colds or flu may cause some of these same symptoms, but are usually accompanied by fever, sore throat, and body aches. Colds typically last about seven days, then go away. But with allergies, symptoms last longer. And allergy symptoms occur in a predictable pattern: The symptoms of allergies tend to be present when pollen counts are high, and go away when they are lower.

Sinus Infection

Sinus infection (sinusitis) is inflammation of one or more of the sinus cavities in the skull. Sinuses have small openings into the nasal cavity and are normally just filled with air, but when they become blocked and filled with fluid, they become a breeding ground for germs that cause an infection. These can include bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Based on the length of time symptoms are present, sinusitis is classified as acute, chronic, or recurrent

Acute Sinusitis

In acute sinusitis, the primary symptoms last about 7-28 days and include:

  • Facial pain/pressure
  • Nasal stuffiness
  • Nasal discharge
  • Loss of smell
  • Cough/congestion

Additional symptoms may include:

  • Fever
  • Bad breath
  • Fatigue
  • Teeth pain

A health care professional will make a diagnosis of acute sinusitis when a person has two or more symptoms and/or thick, green, or yellow nasal discharge. Treatment for allergies is usually symptomatic. These include medications such as antihistamines, decongestants, and nasal corticosteroids. Antibiotics are not needed. Non-medicinal remedies such as nasal irrigation has been proven helpful as well.

Chronic Sinusitis

People with chronic sinusitis may have the following symptoms for 8 weeks or more:

  • Facial congestion/fullness
  • A nasal obstruction/blockage
  • Pus in the nasal cavity
  • Fever
  • Nasal discharge/discolored postnasal drainage

Additional symptoms of chronic sinusitis may include:

  • Headaches
  • Bad breath
  • Fatigue
  • Teeth pain

A physician may treat sinusitis with symptomatic medication or antibiotics in severe cases. Overuse of antibiotics has lead physicians to be more reserved in prescribing antibiotics. Nasal irrigation has been proven effective, as well, in helping to relieve the symptoms of sinusitis and maintain nasal health.

One Condition May Lead to Another

It is not uncommon for allergies to lead to sinusitis. Nasal allergies cause swelling of the lining of the nasal passages, which can lead to a blocked sinus. Sinus infection can then develop because of the blockage.

Nasal allergies and sinusitis affect the body in different ways and are treated differently, so it is important to know the difference.

Complications With Walking Pneumonia

Walking pneumonias, also referred to as mycoplasma pneumonia or atypical pneumonia, results due to an infection by a pathogen known as Mycoplasma pneumoniae. This form of pneumonia is mild and not as severe as other types of pneumonia. The symptoms develop and surface slowly over a period of one to three weeks. Often the symptoms in this disorder can be mistaken for those related to flu or severe cold.

As per MedlinePlus, most people affected by this infection are children or those below 40 years. It is often spread amongst people who are in close proximity. Some of the symptoms include persistent cough, sore throat, and fever or chest pain.

Common fallout of mycoplsama pneumonia is infection of middle ear. Such infections are more common during early childhood and usually affect children in the age group of 6 to 24 months. The chances of children getting affected are more than adults.

While the infection is mild, walking pneumonia has the potential to cause several complications. Some of those complications are highlighted below.

In a middle ear infection, the lining in this section gets inflamed and fluid begins to accumulate behind the eardrum. Some symptoms of this condition are high fever, imbalance, irritability, dizziness, insomnia, and ear pain, drainage in ear, vomiting, appetite loss, temporary loss of hearing, and/or diarrhea. The treatment includes administration of over-the-counter drugs, antibiotics, and warm compress and drainage tubes. If left untreated, the infection can cause rupture of the ear-drum or cause loss of hearing.

People suffering from walking pneumonia are more susceptible to getting hemolytic anemia. In this condition, the bone marrow does not produce sufficient red blood cells to replace the prematurely damaged ones in the blood. Hemolytic anemia can result due to protein abnormality, variation in the protein level in blood, clots in blood, and side effects of medicines, infection or abnormal response of the immune system. Some related symptoms include dark coloration of urine, fatigue, and enlargement of spleen, chills, acceleration of heart rate, fever, and pale coloration of skin, jaundice or difficulty in breathing. The treatment includes ingestion of iron, folic acid, transfusion of blood or administration of corticosteroids.

Another fallout of this condition is rash of the skin. People, who are more allergic and sensitive to antibiotics, are at a greater risk of getting allergic reactions when treated with antibiotics. In this condition, rashes develop which can be red, flat spots; or raised small bumps Amoxicillin or penicillin administration can also trigger this condition. Discontinuation of antibiotics can reduce rashes.

Walking pneumonia can also cause severe pneumonia due to weak immunity or poor response to any treatment.

Psychotic Outbreak in Depression

About one in four people admitted in a hospital with depression, are there because of psychotic outbreak.

What is psychotic outbreak, then?

Basically, this is a state where you detach from reality. A lot of the symptoms are very similar to schizophrenia – you can hear voices, have delusions of grandeur, say things that do not make sense, become totally antisocial, having difficulties communicating with other people, experiencing hallucinations and just plainly stop looking after yourself.

But there is one difference in the symptoms of psychotic depression from schizophrenia. If you are aware of your strange thoughts, hallucinations, behaviour or voices, schizophrenic is not.

This is partly one of the main reasons why it’s so difficult to diagnose and treat this particular sever depression disorder. People are scared and ashamed of it, they think they are going mad and hide their condition.

Among other signs of psychotic depression there are anxiety and agitation, physical and mental impairment, insomnia, constipation and hypochondria.

The doctors don’t know for certain what exactly causes psychotic outbreak, but it’s thought be very high levels of hormone cortisol which accumulates an overwhelming amount of stress in your body.

Psychotic depression treatment usually is very successful and involves a combination of normal antidepressants and antipsychotics like Olanzapine (Zyprexa), Quetiapine (Seroquel), Risperidone (Risperdal), etc. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is highly successful as well.

Usually people recover within a year, but they still require occasional check ups with mental health professionals. People with family mental health history and drug and alcohol abuse are more likely to suffer from a repeated outbreak.

There is also a very small study that researches a dramatic effect that Mifepristone – an emergency contraception pill has on people in psychosis.

Apparently, Mifepristone originally was made to block hormone cortisol, but because it could also block progesterone, it was turned into a “morning after” pill.

Now researchers say, that people who take the pill improve dramatically within days, and what’s more important the effect lasts, which means that they can get better without suffering effects of psychosis for months or going through traumatic electroconvulsive therapy.

So, here it is – the wonders of modern medicine where medical professionals don’t know what causes an illness and manufacture a pill for one thing, but it works perfectly well for a different one…

What do you think about it, guys? Please, share any information you have on the subject. It will be greatly appreciated.

Pisces Men and Commitment – Insightful Advice For Women

If you’re crazy about a Pisces man and he feels the same way about you, consider yourself a lucky lady. These men are unlike any other men on the astrological chart. Once you grab hold of the heart of a man like this and endear yourself to him, he’ll want you forever. When it comes time to take your relationship to the next level, you should have a firm understanding of Pisces men and commitment. You can make a man like this your life partner if you know how to ensure he sees you as his one and only.

One of the most appealing things about a Pisces man is that he fits the ideal of what many women envision as their Prince Charming. When a Pisces man falls in love, it’s enveloping. He’ll cater to your every need and he’ll love you unlike any other man could. He’ll likely refer to you as his soul mate and he’ll believe it with every part of him. Pisces men and commitment go hand-in-hand when he believes he’s met the woman he’s meant to be with. So how exactly do you show him that’s who you are?

Pisces men need to have a very strong emotional connection with a woman before they can commit themselves to her. Naturally, they are initially attracted to someone based on her appearance, but they absolutely need to feel that they are deeply connected on an emotional level. One important aspect of establishing this type of bond with your man is to always be open and honest with him. He needs and wants to feel like he’s with the real you at all times. This can’t be stressed enough when it comes to Pisces men and commitment. They can see through a false front and if they believe, even for a brief moment, that you’re being dishonest, it can damage the relationship for good.

Being alone isn’t something that men like this desire. They become self critical and desperate when they feel they can’t rely on the woman they’re with. Make yourself available to him as much as you can. Be his number one fan and always support him in everything he does. Your strong and unwavering belief in him will be what drives him to succeed more in life. It will also be the thing that bonds you two closer and closer together.

Treating Anxiety Disorders – Overcoming Anxiety

Anxiety disorders are not uncontrollable or random. In fact, they are quite the opposite. Even though they may feel wild, they can be prevented.

Overcoming Anxiety

Anxiety is not an illness, itself. The condition arises when anxiety causes a person to experience physical or psychological symptoms, such as fear or distress. When anxiety causes disturbance in a person’s life, it becomes an anxiety disorder.

The good news is that anxiety disorders are resolvable, and anyone can do it with the right information, help, and support.

Medication can help to reduce anxiety disorder symptoms for some people, but it should never be considered a cure, nor should it be necessary for healthy living. In fact, medication has a very low success rate regarding anxiety disorder symptom reduction, and a very poor record for long-term success.

Anxiety disorders appear for specific reasons, and have definite underlying reasons why they persist. When the underlying reasons are properly addressed, anxiety disorders can disappear forever. Anxiety disorders persist, only because the underlying reasons are not addressed.

Because of this fact, many who take anxiety disorder medication as their only form of treatment generally remain on medication long term, or find themselves repeatedly stopping and restarting their medication. Unless the underlying reasons are properly addressed, anxiety almost always persists or returns.

Based on the latest research, the most effective form of treatment for anxiety disorders is with a combination of good self-help materials, and working with an experienced anxiety therapist who specializes in anxiety recovery.

It is recommended that this therapist has personal experience, though therapists who are currently taking anxiety medication themselves aren’t the best sources of anxiety help. Those who work with a therapist who has successfully resolved anxiety disorder in his or her own life, is medication-free, and has remained anxiety condition-free for more than five years tend to receive the best results. It will be the therapist’s personal experience with anxiety, as well as their sustained victory over it, that can make a profound difference in your recovery.

Therapists who are still taking anti-anxiety or antidepressant medications are doing so because they have yet to successfully resolved their own anxiety. If they haven’t done it themselves, how effective are they going to be helping others?

All of the coaches, counselors, and therapists at anxietycentre.com have successfully conquered anxiety in their own lives. We can help others succeed, because we have found success in our own lives.

Anxiety conditions, for the most part, can be divided into two main categories:

Circumstantial anxiety is characterized by symptoms that appear because of a stressful event or circumstance. Relationship difficulty, a career challenge, illness or death of a loved one, or educational stress can attribute to circumstantial anxiety.

Since stress is often the beginning of an anxiety condition, most early stress conditions fall within this category. As long as you handle the stress well, most anxiety conditions in this category resolve on their own once the event, circumstance, or emotion has passed.

Chronic anxiety, however, is characterized by symptoms that come and go over an extended period of time. This can be anywhere from a few months to several years. Examples include an individual who has symptoms come and go at different stages of their life, remain as an ongoing backdrop to their life, or have been on and off of medication throughout their life.

Chronic anxiety also includes a great deal of fear. Many people live in fear whenever their symptoms appear. Others may be fearful throughout their lives, even when the symptoms are not evident. Conditions that last for an extended period of time can also be referred to as “entrenched” anxiety.

Within these categories, there are four types of anxiety:

Spontaneous anxiety or panic occurs regardless of where a person is.

Situational, or Phobic anxiety or panic occurs because of a particular situation or location.

Anticipatory anxiety or panic occurs because of a thought that something “might” happen or a situation that “might” occur.

Involuntary anxiety or panic occurs involuntarily, and often unannounced. This anxiety occurs without being preceded by spontaneous, situational, or anticipatory anxiety.

It is highly recommended that you work with someone who has personally experienced anxiety at this level in his or her own life. Their personal experience and insight will be of great value and comfort to you during your recovery process.

The Nervous System and the Benefits of Swedish Massage Therapy

Swedish massage stimulates your central nervous system to sooth and calm your nerves. By doing so, it reduces stress and tension in both a physical and psychological sense. This is why Swedish massage is often recommended as an important part of a stress management program for people who are otherwise naturally predisposed to suffering from elevated stress levels.

Your body’s nervous system is responsible for sending, receiving and carrying nerve impulses around your body. It is the main control unit in your body and these nerve impulses allow your organs and muscles to work efficiently.

Nerve impulses are electrochemical signals carrying information, which travel from your brain to nerves around your body. The stresses and strains of everyday life can affect the smooth running of the nervous system and this where massage therapy can help alleviate the problems this causes.

The skin is the body’s largest sensory organ of the body, and when it is touched thousands of tiny nerve receptors send messages to the brain. These are interpreted and returned to the muscles. When the muscles are massaged the body’s natural painkillers, endorphins, are triggered which send messages of calm and relaxation. If vigorous massage strokes are applied, the skin’s underlying muscles are stimulated, easing tension and stiffness.

Massage can have a very powerful sedative effect on the nerves and problems such as headaches can be relieved, patterns of insomnia broken, tension, stress and anxiety relieved, as well as encouraging relaxed muscles.

The effect of a Swedish massage on the nervous system depends on the reaction of the nerves stimulated. Depending on the type of massage strokes used, the nervous system can be stimulated or soothed creating a calming and relaxed state of well being in the receiver.

The Benefits of massage on the nervous system are:

1. Stimulates blood circulation and the nervous system’s response enhancing your well being and boosting your energy

2. Reduces stress, tension and anxiety which can result in headaches, backaches, neck pain, eyestrain, poor concentration, depression, irritability, anger

3. Improves nerve function

4. Massage therapy relaxes contracted muscles which press on or pinch nerves, causing tingling, numbness and pain.

5. Helps treat insomnia caused by tense muscles. Massage therapy relaxes them and allows you to have a good night’s sleep

6. Helps balance the nervous system

7. Stimulates the release of endorphins which are the body’s natural painkillers thus decreasing pain

8. Massage relaxes and tones the muscles due to its effect its effect on the neuro-muscular reflex pathways.

9. Depending on the type and length of a massage given it will leave you relaxed yet stimulated

10. Massage stimulates the touch, pressure, and receptors of the skin and underlying tissue.

If anyone suffers from any problems caused by the dysfunction of their nervous system then a Swedish massage is the answer to their problems. With a little practice anyone can learn a few strokes to alleviate and improve a person’s health and well being.

Reasons You May Need Physical Therapy

Physical therapists help patients manage and recover from debilitating physical conditions that leaves them unable to function normally. The purpose of physical therapy is to help people who have conditions that limit their ability to function in their daily activities. A physical therapist uses many techniques and devices to assist clients with recovering physical strength and range of motion, improving mobility of injured body parts, managing pain, improving posture, and managing physically debilitating conditions. Conditions patients normally suffer can be the result of an injury, illness, or chronic disease such as diabetes. Therapeutic equipment can include ultraviolet and infrared lamps, EMS machines, whirlpool baths, and ultrasonic machines.

Physical therapy consists of a therapist assessing a patient’s ability to function, monitoring motor function, improving balance and coordination, increasing muscle strength, improving range of motion, creating treatment plans for the rehabilitation facility as well as at home, and recording a patient’s progress. They also instruct patients on how to use therapeutic medical devices such as canes and crutches, wheelchairs, braces, artificial limbs…etc.

Many people are not sure if they are in need of physical therapy. Physical therapy can be used for all neuromuscular or musculoskeletal dysfunctions. If you have any of the following conditions, you may require physical therapy:

Sports Related Injuries: Sports or exercise injuries can be the result of training mishaps, incorrect warm up methods, trauma from a fall or other accident resulting in a physical injury.

Chronic Diseases such as Arthritis and Osteoarthritis: Osteoarthritis occurs when the joint cartilage covering the ends of the bone wears away. Arthritis means inflammation of the joints. There is distinct pain and difficulty moving with these conditions.

Surgery Issues: One may require muscle conditioning and strengthening before or after surgery.

Chronic Fatigue and Pain: An example would be a Fibromyalgia diagnosis. Fibromyalgia is an aching condition characterized by extensive soft tissue pain, fatigue, sleep problems, and regions of tenderness in the body.

Balance or Mobility Problems: This problem can result from a head injury, brain condition, or trauma resulting from an accident.

Sprains and Muscle Injuries: These injuries can result from slip and fall accidents, repetitive motion injuries, and other incidents causing a physical injury. This can include such injured areas as the arms, shoulder, knees, feet, ankles, hand and wrist problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome and tendinitis. Neck pain is also an area that can be treated with physical therapy.

Lower Back Pain: This can result from muscle strains, ligament strains, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, osteoporosis, Fibromyalgia and more.

Abdominal Pressure causing Incontinence or Bowel Problems: Special physical therapy techniques can be used to strengthen the pelvic muscles.

Neuro-Rehabilitation: Physical therapy techniques are used after such incidents as a stroke, spinal cord injury, or head injury.

Physical therapy uses non-invasive techniques and devices to promote healing and restore function. It also focuses on health, fitness, and overall well being.

Because of an increased aging population, more people playing extreme sports, and an increased number of people enrolling in fitness clubs, physical therapists are in great demand. Most people can benefit from physical therapy, so it is important to discuss this method of rehabilitation with your doctor.
