Best Testosterone Boosters: Side Effects

The best testosterone boosters that you could get are a healthy diet and exercise. Testosterone is a hormone that is created mainly by the testes of a man. Testosterones are accountable for the increase in the secondary sexual characteristics in the males. A tiny quantity of it is present inside the body of females too. The lack or excess quantity of this hormone could cause a lot of side effects in the body of a human (male or female). A lot of discussions have been carried out among healthcare professionals and scientists on the side effects of testosterone on the human body.

Almost all the best testosterone boosters cause unwanted side effects. The effects of testosterone boosters are caused due to the androgenic properties of the testosterone hormone. The use of synthetic testosterone boosters assists people who have HIV related problems, gain weight. A man who has decreased testosterone levels, experiences moodiness, diminished sex drive, and fatigue. His testicular utility would also decease with increase in his age. This thing could start happening to men from around the very young age such as 30. Also, natural testosterone boosters could reduce the ability of the testes to produce testosterone by itself. This could eventually lead to impotency. This effect is found mostly in men, to whom it could be quite harmful.

Vomiting, swelling of the legs and arms, nausea, eyes and skin becoming quite yellow, and painful and prolonged erections are just some of the very early signs of grave side effects. Using huge amounts of best testosterone boosters, or even natural testosterone boosters could cause grave allergic response such as breathing difficulties in the lungs, and swollen throat, tongue, face, or lips. In females, male like baldness, hoarseness, deep male like voice, excessive growth of hair, and irregularities in menstruation are just some of the side effects.

Protracted use of even this is in high doses could have grave consequences like shrinking of your testicles, or gynecomastia (growth of breasts, in men), increase or decrease in sex drive, and a large number of side effects that are less serious in nature, such as acne, decrease in production of sperm in men, male like baldness, clitoral enlargement and retention of water. Cancer and liver damage are among the other quarantine side effects that could be caused due to an increased use of this.

Neuritis (Neuralgia) – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Multiple Neuritis is a degeneration of peripheral nerves, and is also known as Peripheral Neuropathy or Polyneuritis. This is characterized by a slow onset of disturbed sensations, sensory loss, and weakness and shrinking of muscles in the hands and feet. There are various causes for this, including nutritional deficiencies, metabolic and inflammatory conditions and chronic intoxication due to alcohol, metals and drugs.

In Ayurveda, the above symptoms are believed to be due to disturbed “Vata” dosha. The disease process is believed to take place in two ways; one being a direct increase in the “Vata” dosha, usually due to quantitative decrease in the “Dhatus” or body tissues, and the other being a disorientation of the “Vata” dosha due to obstruction in the normal channel pathways. The first type of disease process is called as “Nir-upastambhit Vata-vyadhi” and the second type is termed as “Upastambhit Vata-vyadhi”. The two can be differentiated by a detailed medical history and a careful observation of the symptoms.

Treatment for the two types of diseases is totally different, in fact, quite contrasting. Nir-upastambhit vata is treated with Snehapaan (oral intake of oil or ghee), Abhyanga (oil massage), Shirobasti (medicated, prolonged lubrication therapy of the scalp), and Anuvasan Basti ( medicated, lubricating enema). Bala (Sida cordifolia) oil, Mahanarayan (containing mainly Asparagus racemosus) oil, and milk are some of the materials used for medicated enema. The medicines used orally are: Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), Masha (Phaseolus mungo), Kohla, Abhrak Bhasma, Raupya Bhasma, Suvarna Bhasma, Chandan-Bala-Laxadi Oil, Shatavari kalpa, Kushmand-avaleha, Mahayogaraj Guggulu and Vasant-kusumakar Rasa. Thus, the overall aim here is to build up and strengthen the body tissues.

On the other hand, treatment for the Upa-stambhit vata is aimed at reducing or eliminating the blockage in the normal channel-pathways of the vata dosha, cutting down overgrowth of the body tissues, and causing “Anulomana”, i.e., helping the vata dosha to circulate in a normal way. The medicines used orally are: Triphala Guggulu, Yogaraj Guggulu, Maharasnadi Qadha, Dashamool Qadha, Gandharva Haritaki, Lashunadi Vati, Mahavata Vidhvansa, Ekangaveer Rasa etc. Herbal medicines used are: Rasna(Pluchea lanceolata), Dashmool (Ten Roots), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Deodar (Cedrus deodara), Hinga (Ferula narthex), Bhallatak (Semicarpus anacardium), Triphala (Three fruits) and Trikatu (Three pungent herbs).

A suitable diet and appropriate lifestyle is recommended in both the disease processes, which will help in reducing symptoms and preventing further deterioration. Needless to say, the treatment has to be tailor-made for each patient according to the presenting symptoms. Significantly, a carefully selected treatment regime, if followed faithfully, gives astounding results, even with very chronic and debilitating disease.

Prediabetes, Diabetes Type 1 and Diabetes Type 2 All Feature Progressive Glycation of Molecules

Glycation. Glycation is a random reaction between the ordinary glucose molecule and any tissue or any macromolecule in our bodies. Glycation is not enzyme-directed. It is not enzyme-facilitated. Glycation serves no positive purpose. Glycation is a chemical reaction between a substance – glucose – which has the property of sharing an electron with another molecule – and a receiving molecule, most usually a protein or lipoprotein. A glycation event is an irreversible union of glucose with a receptive molecule. Receptive molecules include hemoglobin, capillary endothelial cell membrane proteins, and structural membrane proteins of numerous organs, such as kidneys and nerves. Glycation reactions in our bodies occur when glucose molecules circulate too long in the blood stream – having not been transported into cells and tissues by insulin. How long is too long? Too long most certainly is greater than 3 hours. Even two hours can be too long. This random attachment of glucose changes the basic nature of the proteins and membranes. Glycation is undesirable, for it initiates and perpetuates disease on the organs affected.

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus features relative insulin lack or insulin deficiency as its basic root cause. Insulin is present but in sub-normal concentrations. Insulin secretion in response to a glucose-containing meal is low, sluggish, and sub-normal, as well. The basic problem resides at the pancreas beta-cell, which are the cells where insulin is manufactured and secreted in response to glucose surges in our blood stream. Physicians can and do prescribe various insulin forms and dosages to repair and remedy the insulin deficiencies. But, a basic second problem can persist – glucose is not transported into target organ cells as promptly as would occur in the perfectly healthy state. Hence, blood glucose concentrations can be lowered with prescribed insulin preparations, but glucose absorbed from our meals still circulates too long and at higher than normal concentrations. Then, glycation events result. Tissue membranes are affected. Capillary wall membranes are affected. Organ disease results and progresses.

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus features resistance to insulin action at the target tissue level. Insulin production and insulin secretion by the pancreas beta-cells is not below normal. In fact, insulin secretion is either normal or above normal. Most commonly, insulin secretion and presence rises in a biologic attempt to overcome the insulin resistance and to transport circulating glucose into the target tissues. Physicians will prescribe various pill forms of diabetes medications that aim to improve blood glucose and will even add various forms of insulin on top of the already present natural insulin. These interventions can help. Still, though, the blood stream glucose concentrations will linger in higher-than-normal ranges, perpetrating and perpetuating glycation events at various sites.

Prediabetes. Prediabetes is a recognizable condition where an individual experiences elevated blood glucose concentrations after a long fasting period, or will exhibit higher-than-physiologically normal glycated hemoglobin levels. Yes, elevated glycated hemoglobin events labels a person as being prediabetic. The elevated glycated hemoglobin concentration is not severe, but it is real. Hence, the person is diagnosed with prediabetes. Why call this prediabetes if glycation events are super-normal? What not call this condition Type 3 Diabetes? Well, prediabetes is a condition that does not mandate a diabetic pill or an insulin prescription. Prediabetes can be reversed and normalized with diet pattern alterations, with sustained weight loss, and with regular exercise. Nevertheless, prediabetes features glycation events, which are known to be harmful if left to progress and accumulate.

Actions. All three of these metabolic disorders are real. All three feature abnormalities of glucose metabolism. All three feature glycation events. The glycation events are the harmful and hurtful consequences of altered glucose metabolism. Action is essential. Action begins with awareness and with understanding. Action hinges on consuming small and smaller quantities of simple carbohydrates at any and every meal, of avoiding sugary snacks and drinks, and obtaining expert diagnosis, counsel and management of your particular condition. Know this and do this.

The Fast Food Overview

Fast food has become the world’s most popular substitute for eating at home in cities across the globe. It is an American original invented and grown in America. It is a detailed reflection of American attitudes and culture. It’s is tasty, convenient, inexpensive and fast a factor which makes it dear to millions of people who consume it on a daily basis. What also makes it popular is the fact that there is no preparation required before meals and no dishes to clean afterward. Researchers note that it is so popular that today up to half of of all food expending is spent on it in the United States.

Most people know that in order to eat healthy it is necessary and important to avoid tobacco use, to abandon a sedentary lifestyle and eating healthy. Fast food contributes to chronic disease such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and cardiovascular ailments in general. It also plays a major role in weight gain and obesity. Its effects are so pronounced so much that Americans have more body fat now than any other population at any time in the history of humans. Data from the CDC in America shows that 71 percent of all men in America are obese and over 62 percent of women. The scourge is also spreading rampantly amongst children and adolescents.

It would appear the great taste, low cost and convenience of fast food comes to haunt its lovers. Much of it that people eat does not in any way contribute to healthy weight. Instead it is a source of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and hypertension. There are remarkable differences between two groups of people namely those that eat a lot of fast meals and those who don’t eat. To begin with fast meal eaters consume more dietary fat and saturated fat. They have more body fat. They eat fewer fruits and vegetables. A study that was done over 15 years concluded that eating take away food was linked to diabetes and weight gain.

Studies show that people who reside near a lot of fast meal restaurants will likely eat more take ways. A research in Canada reinforced this thinking by adding another dimension to it. It showed that people who lived near a lot of take away restaurants were also likely to have heart disease and suffer from premature death. Yet another study showed a correlation between the number of these restaurants per square mile and obesity. The states in America that had the highest concentration of outlets per square mile also had the highest rates of obesity.

Muscle Arthritis – Symptoms and Treatment Explained

Myositis is the medical term for inflammation of muscle tissue and one type of muscle arthritis is dermatomyositis. (Without the rash, the condition is called polymyositis.) In this form, there is soreness and inflammation and pain in the muscles but there is also an accompanying dry rash affecting the skin. This rash is commonly seen on the face and neck, chest and back and the shoulders. Heart muscle may also be affected as well as the lung tissues. It is usually dusky and a purplish red color. This is an autoimmune condition and is treated with anti-inflammatory medications including steroids.

Another disease that can be considered muscle arthritis is called fibromyalgia. Along with muscle pain and aches, fibromyalgia can produce pain in the joints and other connective tissue like tendon and ligaments, as well as fatigue, depression, headache, anxiety, sleep problems and numbness in the extremities. To have this diagnosis, symptoms must last at least three months and at least 11 of the 18 trigger points associated with FM must be tender to the touch.

Treatment for FM has until very recently been simply medications directed at relieving pain and specifics for other symptoms, but now medications specifically for fibromyalgia have reached the market and can be prescribed. About 2% of the population has symptoms of FM.

Another muscle arthritis is the systematic illness called lupus. Usually joints are affected but some lupus patients also have muscle aches and pain associated with the condition. Lupus is treated with corticosteroids and other immune system modifiers. Symptoms of lupus can include a butterfly shaped rash across the face, fevers, fatigue, multiple joint arthritis and many other symptoms. Blood work can help to make the diagnosis. Lupus is also an autoimmune disease and the cause is not known. It is about ten times as common in men as it is in women.

Finally, there is polymyalgia rheumatica. The symptoms of polymyalgia rheumatica are moderate to severe muscle pain and the location is almost always in or near the neck, shoulders and hips and can come on very suddenly. In virtually every case, a person with polymyalgia rheumatica will have an abnormally high red blood cell sedimentation rate. This disease is often associated with a serious vascular affliction called polyarteritis or sometimes giant cell arteritis in which blood vessels become inflamed. However, prompt treatment usually controls both conditions or polymyalgia rheumatica alone.

A corticosteroid like prednisone is usually given and will produce a remission which can last some time. If the condition recurs, the drug is restarted and can control symptoms. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications are also used. The disease may also go away on its own but this can take a year or more.

One last form of muscle arthritis is a side effect of drugs given to lower cholesterol called lipid reducing drugs or statins. While not common, this condition called rhabdomyolysis can have serious implications including kidney and heart damage. Persons taking statins need to report any unusual muscle aches and pains to their physicians at once.

While muscle arthritis can be painful and frightening, most forms of it do respond well to treatment. The most important thing is to report muscle pains to a physician, learn the cause, and to then use appropriate treatments for whichever condition is to blame.

Learn the Many Benefits of Zinc Citrate

Zinc citrate is a combination of zinc and citrate which is a derivative of citric acid. Zinc is a part of over 300 enzymes that are necessary for the healing of wounds, which may help diabetics. Fertility and the growth of children can also be supported by zinc citrate. Zinc is an essential mineral that is required by every cell in the human body, however, the body doesn’t manufacture zinc on its own, because of this, we must intake the mineral through water, the foods we eat, or by the use of supplements.

Known benefits of Zinc Citrate

Zinc is well known for its reported ability to reduce the length and severity of colds. It can reduce the severity of canker sores, sore throats, and skin injuries. It also relieves acne, also known as zits, tinnitus, which causes ringing in the ears, and eye problems. It is also believed to be effective in fighting auto-immune diseases, and inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and fibromyalgia.

While there is no cure for the common cold, the benefits of zinc citrate could bring quicker relief. Tinnitus is annoying at the very least, and if this works, it should be considered. Only you and your physician or health care provider can know whether you would benefit from the use of this supplement.

Zinc is stored in various areas of the body. It is found in the inner ear, the eyes, especially the retina, the thymus gland, and the prostate gland.

It can be found in oysters, meat, eggs, seafood, black-eyed peas, and tofu.

Further Benefits Of zinc Citrate

Zinc has a very important role in hundreds of our bodily processes; one function, is that the mineral has an effect and aid in supporting the human immune system, tissues, and joints, as well as helping in cell growth, and the mineral is also known in to help with the combat of the common cold. Zinc has also been known for improving peoples sex life’s by improving sexual function. The mineral also helps with the health of our hair, and it helps heal skin wounds and skin conditions, such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis.

Many people aren’t aware how beneficial zinc is and what the real benefits of Zinc Citrate are, this mineral plays an important role in helping us with some of our most common senses, such as our ability to smell, taste, and see. Some studies have shown that by consuming zinc supplements, people with known eye problems, such as macular degeneration was able to combat vision loss, and also, on the other hand, a deficiency in zinc sometimes leads to some taste bud problems, and an ability to detect scents from, certain people, objects, and animals. Men with low zinc levels have also been noted to have low levels of sperm.

Deficiencies and precautions

Zinc deficiency could cause you to lose hair, have scalp problems and hair problems. The signs are similar to those seen from acne medicines. Have a complete checkup before initiating any new supplement or medications.

The following problems can occur when over 300 milligrams is taken daily over time. They include impaired immune system function, stomach aches, nausea, mouth problems (irritation and bad taste). Gastrointestinal upsets, a metallic taste in the mouth, blood in the urine and lethargy. It could also contribute to the development of anemia.

To be honest, it is widely known with foods and supplements that too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Some recent studies have shown that taking more than 100 mg of zinc daily for a long period of time can actually harm the immune system making it weaker. However, many of the elderly shown to be deficient in this particular mineral and the benefits of Zinc citrate may be more important that ever for these people.

As with any medication or supplement, it should not be added to your regimen unless your doctor approves. There are more benefits than dangers with the ingestion of zinc citrate, however the dangers do exist and it is best to be cautious at best. Always consult with a health care provider or physician, and preferably some one you are familiar with because they will know your history and be able to guide you.

Our Opinion on Choosing A Zinc Supplement

1. The mineral Zinc can interfere with copper absorption. Because of this, experts of nutrition say that both should be consumed together. We personally think that consumers of nutritional products are much better off taking their zinc as part of a comprehensive formula, rather than as a stand alone product. This is because most vitamins and minerals work synergistically, not just copper and zinc. You will reap far better health benefits by taking nutrients together as part of one balanced formula, rather than taking stand alone supplements at different times.

2. Zincin supplements comes in many different forms. Zinc gluconate, picolinate, acetate, and citrate are readily absorbable forms and are the best ones to take.

3. Dietary supplements in the U.S. are unregulated and consumers have had only a 1 in 5 chance of buying a product that contains the actual ingredients stated.. Because of this industry wide problem, people should choose a manufacturer that is pharmaceutical GMP compliant. These facilities comply with the most stringent manufacturing standards, to eliminate the possibility of harmful contaminants and to also make sure that you are getting the amount of ingredients you actually paid for.

4. Be sure the product does not contain any fillers or additives (examples include: sugar, starch, gluten, silica (sand!) or any artificial colors or flavors of any kind.

Contact Dermatitis Cures For At Home And Your Doctor’s Cures

Contact dermatitis cures are plentiful but which one is right for you? This article is written to provide you with a way to cure contact dermatitis that results from coming in contact with a skin allergen or irritant. The contact dermatitis cures discussed are both from your doctor and at home remedies.

Do you have an itchy, red and inflamed area of skin? Were you recently in contact with a chemical, plant, or other irritant? If yes, then you likely have contact dermatitis.

This condition is common and is not typically dangerous unless you scratch open the skin and get an infection. Even though this does not typically lead to complications, you are likely tired of the scratching and inflammation and want to find a way to move past it.

Common irritants and allergens are:

  • Certain articles of clothing or clothing fabrics
  • Make-up
  • Perfume
  • Jewelry
  • Metals such as gold, nickel, etc.
  • Latex
  • Detergents, cleaners, or soaps
  • Topical medications or ointments
  • Solvents and other chemicals
  • Poison ivy, oak, or sumac

Home Cures For Contact Dermatitis

Your best cure is prevention. If you know you have a reaction to a substance, avoiding contact with that substance is the best cure. If you have come into contact with an allergen or irritant and you are aware you made contact, you will want to thoroughly wash the skin that was touched. You can use warm water and a mild soap.

You may benefit from a mild acidic wash to counteract the effects of the allergen. For instance, squeeze a small amount of lemon juice on the skin before a rash appears. If the skin is already red, itchy, and inflamed, you can try any of the following contact dermatitis cures:

  • Soothe the skin with a cool compress
  • Apply calamine lotion or hydrocortisone cream to the irritated skin to soothe itching
  • Antihistamines such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can help soothe itching
  • Apply zinc oxide cream such as Desitin to act as a barrier and protect the skin

Your Doctor’s Contact Dermatitis Cures

Seeing a doctor for contact dermatitis is not always necessary. However, if your symptoms are severe (intense itching, blisters, etc.) or the area of inflammation is not responding to home cures, then you should contact your doctor.

He or she will likely treat the skin with a prescription lotion or ointment. Corticosteroid creams such as prescription strength hydrocortisone cream may provide relief. If the area of inflammation is large or growing, your doctor may prescribe oral corticosteroids or antihistamines.

Ultimately your best contact dermatitis cure is to avoid any known irritant, but when you inadvertently come in contact with an irritant, use the above cures to reduce the itch and inflammation.

Skin Care – Does What Soap You Use Really Matter?

When it comes to skin care, soap is one of the most important decisions you can make. What happens when you apply a chemical to your skin? It is absorbed and taken into your body. You know this from the patches doctors use in treating certain conditions. Yet we continue to use soap that is damaging to our skin and our body. Take a close look and see what ingredients are in soap and if they sound like they are good for skin care. We will look at a soap on the commercial market that claims to be a beauty bar, break it down, see what it contains and if it is good for skin care or not.

Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate: This is a chemically synthesized detergent that is used in soap as a detergent, emulsifier and wetting agent. Some MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) list this ingredient as a medium to mild skin irritant. While it may clean you, including the oils you need on and in your skin, it can cause skin irritation and may dry the skin. So this does not appear to be very good for skin care.

Stearic Acid: This is produced by treating animal fat with water under high pressure and temperature and is used as a hardener in soap. It is deemed safe by MSDS and the FDA, however some studies have shown it to cause problems in people with allergies. This ingredient does not appear to help or harm with skin care but it can intensify allergic conditions.

Sodium Tallowate: This is produced when a solution of lye and water are mixed with animal fat. Normally cattle fat is used, however other animal fats may be used. This process is called saponification and creates what we normally consider soap. It is cheap, readily available and deemed safe by all government agencies. There are some recent studies that have suggested all the antibiotics, growth hormones and other things feed to cattle are deposited into the animal’s fat, possibly causing allergic reactions and other problems. Sodium Tallowate does contain large amounts of glycerol (glycerin) but in commercially prepared soap products this is normally removed before it is used in the soap and sold as additives for skin care products. This additive could be beneficial or harmful to your skin care and your body according to what raw materials were used and if the glycerol is removed or not.

Sodium Palmitate: This is produced the same manner as sodium tallowate with the saponification process of adding lye and water to coconut palm oil. It is deemed safe to use. Palm oil is a great soapmaking oil but must be used in the proper proportions or it will dry the skin.

Sodium Isethionate: It is an amphoteric detergent used in detergent bar soaps. It makes a dense lather in addition to the lather made by the soap. It is mild on the skin, and non-drying. It works equally well in soft or hard water. There is no known health risk and it is deemed safe for use. It appears to be good for skin care.

Water: Water is used in combination with lye to combine with the plant or animal fats to cause the saponification process.

Lauric Acid, Sodium Cocoate and Sodium Palm Kernelate: These are naturally occurring acids found in coconut oil and palm kernel oil and are produced by the saponification process. All three produce a hard soap with lots of fluffy lather that cleans well but can be drying to the skin. It is good for cleaning the skin but not great for skin care and should be used in very small amounts.

Sodium Stearate: This is normally produced in a laboratory and according to numerous MSDS “Skin contact may cause irritation with symptoms of redness, swelling, itching and pain.” also the MSDS states “This product is hazardous under the criteria of the Federal OSHA Hazard Communication Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200.”. Good for skin care. I do not think so.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine: This is a laboratory made synthetic compound that some studies have found to be an allergen in fact; Cocamidopropyl Betaine was voted 2004 allergen of the year by the American Contact Dermatitis Society. It is used as an emulsifying agent to physically interact with both oil and water stabilizing them. Is it good for skin care? Does not look like it but we do know that it is an allergen for some people.

Sodium Chloride: This is plain ordinary table salt and it is used as a thickening agent. Think about wetting your skin and rubbing table salt into it. If that would not dry it out I do not know what would. So is it good for skin care? No.

Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate: Both of these are basically the same. Another laboratory made synthetic compound that is used as a chelating agent and preservative. It holds and binds metals to it so it helps in removing soap scum. There are some clams that it very easily penetrates the skin and carries these metals into your body or when entering the body is soaks up the metals your body needs to complete the bodies processes. It is deemed to be safe by all government agencies but there are a lot of independent tests that do not think so. So is it good for skin care, no it does nothing to help the skin.

Maltol: This is a naturally occurring organic compound that is used primarily as a flavor enhancer. It is found in the bark of larch tree, in pine needles, and in roasted malt where it gets its name. It seems they use this as an odor masking ingredient. The MSDS has this to say “Chronic Effects on Humans: May cause damage to the following organs: blood, kidneys, bladder, gastrointestinal tract. Other Toxic Effects on Humans: Hazardous in case of skin contact (irritant). Routes of Entry: Absorbed through skin, Eye contact, Inhalation.” It does not sound as if it is good for skin care or the general heath of your body.

Titanium Dioxide: This is a natural occurring oxide however there is a lot of chemicals that must be mixed with it to make the pure form that is used. It is used in soap making to give the pure white color to the soap. Titanium dioxide has recently been classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as an IARC Group 2B carcinogen ”possibly carcinogen to humans”. So is it good for skin care? Not at all.

Our skin is the largest of all human organs and we know that what we apply to it will wind up in our body. So can we trust these ingredients to keep us healthy or should we expect that they may contribute to some health problems? I will let you be the judge of that; but a lot of them are not good for skin care.

LPR Diet Plan

Laryngopharyngeal Reflux is a complicated type of acid reflux disease. It is a condition wherein the upper esophageal sphincter malfunctions and the acid back flows to the esophagus and enters into the throat and voice box. When this happens extreme pain is felt by the person. One unique characteristic of lpr reflux is that not all people do experience heartburn as with gerd or gastroesophageal disease. Acid has to stay long enough in the esophagus before heartburn is felt. The larynx is more sensitive than the esophagus so any acid that enters causes a very excruciating pain for the sufferer.

Symptoms of Laryngopharyngeal reflux include throat clearing, throat irritation, chronic cough, excessive phlegm in the throat, difficulty swallowing and hoarseness of voice. Lpr reflux disease treatment is the same with gerd. It includes medications to reduce gastric acidity, lifestyle changes and most importantly diet modification. Fiber rich foods are a good diet for lpr reflux which includes spinach, sweet corn, bran cereal, red cabbage, beans, green peas, carrots, potato and fruits (apples, bananas and oranges).

High fiber diet is very important for a good digestive system. It prevents indigestion problems and discomforts in the stomach. Most of all, it aids in proper digestion and it aids in regular bowel movement so you won’t have to worry about being constipated. With less fiber intake, a person may easily get tired in doing any activities, concentration is poor. Thus, less productivity and irritability results. One reason why many people easily get fat is because of less fiber intake.

Fiber has two types – soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber forms a glue like gel in the intestinal tract. This gel softens stools and improves your digestion. Bottom line is, when proper digestion is achieved through the help of high fiber foods excess acids in the stomach is reduced. In tandem with high fiber foods, a person with lpr reflux should avoid eating high fatty foods. Highly acidic foods are also unfavorable for lpr reflux disease because it triggers excessive amounts of acid. Carbonated beverages and alcohol should also be avoided.

What you can do to avoid or alleviate acid reflux are:

Avoid eating large meals

Avoid late night eating

Never lie supine or bend down after eating

Do not wear tight clothes around the area of the abdomen and stomach.

Trim down abdominal fats by exercising regularly with abdominal exercises.

Give up smoking because nicotine weakens the lower esophageal sphincter.

Finally, people are different and it is important to note that there are foods that some people can tolerate and some people don’t. Know what foods causes allergy and avoid eating them. It is important to eat the right kind of foods at the right time. Never delay eating meals, as this may further trigger acidity that causes lpr reflux.

Mid-Life Depression – "Is That All There Is?"

When we find ourselves asking… “Is that all there is?”

Ennui and mild depression which strike women at at mid-life are often a blessing in disguise. The displeasure and dissatisfaction which they evoke do not destroy life but provide sufficient motivation to examine and change. Women are living longer and longer and the challenges of early adulthood, self-sufficiency, initial career development and parenthood may be successfully engaged with and much life remains for personal dreams and aspirations. But like most things worth having some effort, attention and courage must be invested because a life which engages and excites is a very individually defined thing.

Passive-aggressive depression responds to the “Tyranny of the Shoulds”

For many women at mid-life it becomes necessary too engage in a process of teasing apart the “shoulds” and the “musts” from the “cans” and the “wants”. This is a process which often requires a woman to engage with the history of her expectations and attitudes in a way which is often revelatory. Women are surprised to discover that at forty-five or fifty they are still living out their parent’s wishes and hopes, or that they have barely advanced their expectations from when they were 22 or that they feel trapped by the long standing images that their spouses, friends and children have of them. Yet to be anything else seems strange and even frightening.

In response to a life lived in response to “shoulds” rather than “wants”, it is not unusual for depression to arise as a sort of insistent psychological foot-dragging. We might call it “passive-aggressive” depression! Investment and energy is withdrawn from the current state of life. Our heart is “pulled away” from the activity of life in a kind of inner refusal to go any further down this unsatisfying path. It often manifests itself as a deadness, a listlessness or ennui which the individual finds perplexing “There is nothing wrong with my life.. so why do I feel this way?” The personality may seem to “stall itself out.” While it appears on the outside to be a refusal of life it may actually be an autonomously generated psychological demand for change … Psyche may be attacking an unsatisfactory state of affairs, refusing to invest further and asking for a more meaningful and growth producing life.

This is the point where in order to make change, self-knowledge must be developed and deepened so that it can be creatively enlisted to generate and implement more genuinely self-expressive personal wishes and desires.

Turning events into experience

One of the most ubiquitous barriers to self-change is simply not being genuinely in touch with yourself and your own experience.

In order to turn life events into “experience,” they must be digested. That is, they must first be consciously noted as significant, then examined and placed in relationship to aspirations or goals so as to determine the positive or negative value of the experience. This is often best done retroactively.

Self-defining experience is eventually integrated into a working definition of self. “I am a person who is…. who likes,…who wants…”

This conscious crafting of experience makes it available for creating personal change and for useful sharing with others. It becomes “wisdom”.

Generating a personal vision involves integrating the past and engaging with the future

Far too many women coming into personal therapy can easily list all the requirements and “shoulds” in their lives. .. but when asked, “But what do you want? “… they are struck dumb or wail,…” But that’s exactly the problem …I don’t know what I want!” Often the list which springs immediately to mind is the list of what “everyone wants” … Good relationships, financial security, health, satisfying work… goals which are sometimes too vague to be tackled effectively. What is much harder to elicit, and what falls a-foul of less conscious motives are the more subtle details of what constitutes the individual variants of these generalities ie: What is “good relationship” for you?

These “mild depressions” at mid life which emotionally stall women out may be positively worked through as indicators of dissatisfaction. They may be internal ground-swells of demand for space to concern themselves with their own personal development.

These depressions plead…

Get to know yourself again! Take yourself seriously! Mine inner and outer, conscious and unconscious resources!

Looking for ways to deepen understanding of satisfactions and dissatisfactions

Take yourself seriously: Dedicate time to tracking your inner responses. It is often helpful to keep a daily journal in which you note details of your points of view, thinking, responses, emotions, attitudes and even bodily sensations and responses.

Note: A journal is not a diary of events, it is a record of personal responses to events.

Get to know yourself again! Very often we let parts of ourselves “lie fallow” as our life circumstances change. These are often parts of self with which we can re-engage with a sense of “coming home” to our earlier selves. You can assess your true range of practical gifts and talents by tracking them retrospectively. What were the skills and talents that you drew on and applied at various points in your life? What were the projects and periods of life which most engaged you.

Mine inner and outer resources:

Outer resources: This is probably not the first time you’ve changed. Consider the people who have most touched and changed you throughout your life. Perhaps you need to spend time again with those people or with people like them?

More interestingly, are you perhaps now old enough to manifest those qualities within yourself? Consider who might benefit from what you know and can share, professionally or personally. Explore mentoring or volunteering as avenues for your personal psychological development

Inner resources: Pay attention to your dreams and fantasies. Note the content of unconscious products like song lyrics that get stuck in your head, slips of the tongue and noteworthy and surprising coincidences which occur in your life. What are you trying to tell yourself?

What has become of your spirituality? Is it time to re-define your relationship to faith?

Professional assistance and structure

Some women find it helpful in normal transitional periods of life to seek counseling or psychotherapy. Contact with a therapist offers emotional support and the discipline of a dedicated weekly time and space which often provides security and reassurance while engaging in the process of self-examination, self-exploration and re-evaluation.

Note: Psychotherapy is not always or only directed at correcting pathology. It is also positively oriented towards self-understanding and offers a space which facilitates growth.

Remember: There is no one-size-fits-all for happiness and satisfaction.

Cure Fear of Flying – The Easiest Way to Tackle Your Flying Phobia

To cure a fear of flying, you need only look to yourself. You don’t need medication or expensive therapy in order to finally board that plane and fly without panic, you just need to know how to handle the panic you feel. And the easiest way to tackle your flying phobia is to simply get out of your head. Your brain is the source of all of your worry and anxiety and once you learn how to stop paying attention to it, you will find the key to being able to fly comfortably.

A simple solution that I have discovered is within two books, one, The Power of Now and the other A New Earth. Both were written by Eckhart Tolle, a spiritual teacher who has uncovered a simple path to spiritual enlightenment. His powerful yet simple message of finding the joy in being is transforming the lives of many around the globe. Within the pages of his books, he outlines the secret to quieting your mind and how you can take back control of yourself simply by learning to listen to what your brain is saying. By being the observer of the voice in your head you begin to understand that the real you does not take residence in your head; and that actually the person you hear in your head can be quiet detrimental to your survival.

This is definitely the case when you try to fly, it is almost a given that the panic that sets in derives from your brain. The messages that are telling your body to panic and flee are not based in reality however, there is no way for you to tell the future, no way for you to know whether or not your trip is going to be a safe one; but then again there is no way for you to know otherwise either so why worry about it?

It may seem silly, especially if you have been dealing with the fear to fly for quite some time, however if you can learn to ignore your thoughts you may find, as I did, that your fears subside almost immediately. You begin to see that the only moment that really matters is now and that the past and future have no hold over you. This powerful realization came to me after reading both of his books and they make work for you as well.

It can be extremely difficult to stay in the now however, life is constantly being thrown at you and it can be a struggle to stay out of your head. All it takes is practice and the belief that it can be done, which it can. And if you use these tools especially when you are about to take a flight you can learn to control how your mind and body reacts in situations like this.

Positive messages are a much better way to deal with stressful situations, but you may discover that no messages at all can be far more powerful. Quieting your mind and feeling your true self and being completely in the now leaves no room for fear.

Genital Wart Treatments Should Not Cause Anxiety To The Infected Individual

People infected by genital warts generally go through plenty of anxiety because of the realization that their sex life is affected. Getting the condition treated with conventional medications is likely to leave them exasperated because they will have to visit the physician regularly. The treatment used can cause pain, burns and even leave scars behind. The fact that the treatments will not make any attempt to rid the body of the virus that caused the infection means that the treatment will have to be continued for quite some time. In such cases would it not be better if manufacturers of genital wart remedies discovered a medication, which would not leave people with anxiety?

Doctors have in their possession the methods to deal effectively with this problem. Unfortunately, scientists have not managed to discover any medication that can deal with the human papilloma virus. It continues to remain within the body regardless of the fact, whether the warts make an appearance or not. Infected people can only hope that they can improve the immune system of their body, which is the only way to get rid of the virus.

Home remedies that can effectively be used to treat such conditions will not cause any anxiety among people. However, it is essential to search for the right product failing which people will be back to square one.

The market is flooded with genital wart remedies and people from all backgrounds are choosing to use them without being informed that the remedies contain chemicals that damage their skin. This again results in anxiety because people would not have managed to deal with the issue effectively.

The only opportunity _for people to stay away from such issues altogether will be available if they conduct proper research to find a genital wart remedy that is totally safe to use. There is no reason for people to believe that they are fighting a lost cause because products made from natural ingredients are certainly available. They can easily be purchased directly from the manufacturers for a cost that will be affordable. People only have to apply the treatment regularly as suggested by the manufacturers. There will soon be in a position to see the warts’ drop-off within a period of 72 hours. Moreover, these applications will help to make the immune system of the body stronger because of the natural ingredients that have been used during the manufacture. People who chose to use such products will be happy that they have finally found an effective remedy that can deal with this issue without causing them any anxiety.

Why Sleeping Pills Are Not the Answer for Insomnia – And Why EFT Might Be

It’s 3:00 a.m. and you are awake – again. While the clock is stuck in slow motion, your mind is in overdrive, racing from one topic to another, unable to settle down. Meanwhile the prospect of dragging through yet another day feeling exhausted looms large.

If you have spent many nights like this – weeks, months, or even years – you probably would do just about anything to make it stop.

Unfortunately, the most common approach is to look to something outside of ourselves that will over-ride or mask these symptoms – which of course is prescription sleeping medication or other sleep aids.

I was on prescription sleeping medication for four years, and my experience seems to be fairly common and representative.

At first it was a huge psychological improvement to take something before bedtime and sleep all the way through the night. But eliminating that night-time struggle is only part of the battle. There were three important things my well-meaning doctor did not discuss with me:

#1: There is no pill on the market that can navigate its way through the varied stages of sleep. During a truly refreshing night’s sleep, we are not simply “asleep” as opposed to “awake.” Rather, we cycle through light sleep, deep sleep, and dream (REM) sleep throughout the night. Each stage involves different brain waves, heart and breathing rates, and muscle tension, and provides different benefits for the sleeper. It is an intricate dance between multiple stages of consciousness, and no pill is able to replicate it. Consequently, for four years I felt sluggish and groggy in the mornings and had a hard time getting out of bed – which has never been a problem for me before or since. What I didn’t know at the time was that this “safe” pill was messing with my sleep cycles.

Some pills don’t allow for deep sleep and many suppress REM sleep, so even if you are sleeping 8 hours you are not getting the full physical, mental, and emotional benefits of a natural night of sleep.

#2: Hypnotic sleeping pills are addictive drugs. Like other addictive drugs your body develops a tolerance to the substance so that ever higher doses are needed to get the same effect. This was certainly true for me. I had to increase my dosage several times until I finally hit the ceiling of what my doctor considered “safe.” After being there for a while there was nowhere else to go… and, in my case the pills eventually stopped working. I made the mistake of going off my prescription cold turkey and experienced some of the worst insomnia I have ever had for several months after that. This is known as rebound insomnia and is a common withdrawal symptom from sleeping pills. Other known withdrawal symptoms include panic attacks, heart palpitations, seizures, anxiety and depression… so I actually got off fairly easily. Now, after my clients stabilize their sleep and are ready to release their medication, I recommend a tapering program. It works much better!

#3: Sleeping pills may mask symptoms for a time, but they get at NONE of the original causes. Taking a sleeping pill is like holding a beach ball under water. You can over power it for a time, but eventually it is going to pop up again. To truly move beyond insomnia, you need to address the underlying causes or it will just rear its ugly head again and again.

In my 28 years of searching for help with my own insomnia, by far the best method was EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques.) Unlike sleeping pills, which, at their best, temporarily mask symptoms, EFT effectively alleviates both symptoms AND causes. While sleeping pills disturb the body’s chemistry and can often have unpleasant or dangerous side effects and/or withdrawal symptoms, EFT clears out blockages from the whole system, and is wonderful for overall health. Best of all, while sleeping pills create a psychological dependence on something outside of yourself, EFT promotes self-understanding and true empowerment. You are no longer a victim of your body but can meet yourself right where you are and deal with whatever comes your way. After 28 years of searching for something to end my chronic insomnia, I can finally say I am happy with my sleep.
