5 Ways to Deal Successfully With a Drunk Person

Knowing how to deal with a drunk person can be a challenge especially if you have little to no experience with problem drinkers. Here are 5 key tips that will help you manage the inebriated in the best possible way.

  1. Make sure they stop drinking. The first thing that you need to do is to make sure that you keep them from drinking anymore. It is quite hard for a person to convince another drunken person that drinking more is bad for them, so you need to use some tricks. Make sure that you talk with the waiter or with the barman to stop giving them alcohol. If you are at a party, tell them that you are going to make the drinks for them. When you make a drink you should use a small quantity of alcohol or no alcohol at all. A severely drunk person will not tell the difference between a beverage with alcohol or one without any alcohol.
  2. Keep them in a proper position. It is very important to stop a drunk person from sitting on their stomach or on their back. There is a high risk they will vomit and choke. Also, do not let them sleep alone because many people have died in their sleep while they were drunk.
  3. Make sure they don’t engage in risky behavior. You should definitely keep the drunken person from driving a car, fighting with other people, hurting themselves, etc. It is very possible for a drunken person to engage in such behaviors, so be cautious. Also, make sure you don’t hurt yourself while taking care of them.
  4. Keep them hydrated and take care of their emotional state. Make sure that you keep them hydrated. Water helps eliminate alcohol faster. Also, when a person drinks a lot, they usually drink for a reason, so being there for them while they tell you their problems will help.
  5. Take them to the emergency room. If the person you are taking care of stops breathing, hurts themselves, or passes out, you should definitely take them to the emergency room. Also, if the person who drank too much has any illnesses which can put their life in danger when consuming alcohol, like diabetes or heart problems, don’t waste any time and rush them to the hospital.
If you follow the rules above you might save someone’s life. Also, after the person recovers you should confront them about their drinking. If this wasn’t the first time they got severely drunk, you might suggest to them that they have a drinking problem.

Fake M&M’s

Are you really sure that your favorite snacks are actually manufactured by the companies who’s names are on the wrapping?

Did you think that fake merchandise from the Far East only referred to wrist watches, CD’s, DVD’s and designer Labels? If you have never thought about this question in depth, it may be time to do so. It has recently been discovered that many of the world’s favorite snacks are being fraudulently copied by various companies in the Far East.

World famous snacks are being produced to look and taste exactly the same as the original product. Even “last sell by dates”, “dates of production”, company details, and list of ingredients that must be printed by law on the wrapping of every product are carefully planned to coincide with the production details of the original companies’. Everything is planned right down to the last detail so as to elude the suspicions of government inspectors, retailers and consumers alike.

All of the companies that manufacture these fraudulent products are 100% sure that you the consumer will not be able to taste the difference between their fakes and the original product because they are identical in every way to the original.

Import companies all around the globe are tempted and lured by the prospect of lower prices and higher profit margins. Both the shops that sell the products and you the consumer are completely unaware of the conspiracy. After all, you are getting a completely identical product in every way, right?

Wrong! In fact you are actually getting more than you paid for. The added ingredients come in the form of potentially dangerous bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, listeria. These and other forms of microorganisms have been found in snacks that have been copied in the Far East. Tests to discover such activities have been carried out by several government health authorities and by the quality control departments of the companies whose products have been copied and whose reputations have been damaged.

We also need to realize that international standards organizations such as ISO, GMP or HACCP will have nothing to do with companies that are faking the products of other reputable and responsible companies. This means that there is no control or information about how these products are produced. Hygiene standards are likely to be low and cleaning regimes may be waved.

Original manufacturers such as Nestle, Cadbury’s, Hershey’s and many other companies go to great lengths to ensure that you are buy a safe and hygienic product. They test all the ingredients that go into a product and they also test the all the parameters of the production of the final product. A large part of the cost of the product goes to cover the cost of quality control. With fake products, hygiene and quality may be the last thing on the mind of the manufacturer.

Reputable food companies now find that they now have to contend with this snack piracy on a continual basis. They are also finding that they, who had no part in the production of these imitation products, now have to continually check for fakes on shop shelves around the world and take responsibility for the correction of such infringes upon the reputation of their own company name.

In several countries authorities were alerted to counterfeit snacks on the shelves of shops when complaints of food contamination were gathered from hospitals. After identifying snacks as the cause importers were forced to recall all of the offending products and are now having to answer to legal allegations by national health and safety authorities. Several such companies now face losing their import licenses, receiving hefty fines and being given periods of jail time.

Practices such as these are common in our day and age. Activities like these are responsible in part for the increase in the instances of food poisoning around the world.

Could this be the wake up call you have been waiting for regarding the quantity of snacks you eat?

Treating Anxiety Attacks: Are You Empathically Picking Up Energy From Others?

Last week, a man contacted me about the anxiety attacks he started having within the past two years. They were so bad at first that he went to the hospital thinking he was having a heart attack. The medical staff ran all kinds of tests and found absolutely nothing wrong with him and had no explanation for the chest pains, racing heartbeat, nervousness, shaking, anxiety, and general feeling of being ill. The ER doctor diagnosed it as heat exhaustion and dehydration and told him to go to his primary care physician for follow up. The PCP wanted to prescribe anti-depressants, but my client did not want to take them. Keep in mind that all of this followed an event at work when a coworker had a heart attack.

The anxiety attacks subsided after my client had energy work and he wasn’t bothered like this for nearly a year. When he started having physical symptoms again this summer, he went to the hospital again with his heart racing. The medical staff ran all kinds of tests and found him perfectly healthy and had no explanation other than dehydration since it was very hot outside. However, he had been drinking plenty of fluids to avoid another episode like he had the year before. He had been on antibiotics for a head cold and thought perhaps an allergic reaction was occurring. He stopped taking the medication and the symptoms immediately lessened.

He continued to struggle with mild symptoms that would peak at times causing him to still wonder what the hell was going on. He’s a young, healthy man. Why was he having panic attacks and feeling so strange emotionally and physically? Within the past few months, these panic attacks started to affect his work and business. He finally contacted me. Here is a synopsis of our conversation.

EMPATH: The anxiety attack today was almost instant-no warning that it was coming on-but I was able to calm myself before I started feeling really bad. I thought it might be tobacco so I tried cutting down. I want to stop using it. I’m under a lot of stress right now and that makes things worse. Can you feel my energy through the phone?

YVONNE: Oh, yes! I feel your energy. It’s crazy wild and I’m having to remind myself to breathe. The human body has an electromagnetic field around it and yours is very cluttered. You definitely need to ground your energy and clear your field. Do you know how to do this?

YVONNE: I will walk you through it before we close this session. Who have you been around in the past 24 hours? What was their energy like?

EMPATH: I was talking to a man named Leon this morning just before this attack occurred. He has a stressful job, he’s trying to get a promotion, and his wife is sick.

YVONNE: You are an empath and you pick up energy from others quite easily. Empaths have the ability to heal and transmute the suffering of others by taking detrimental energy into their own body or auric fields. Having this ability is a gift once you know how to manage it. There are many people like you and that is why I wrote a book to help them. It’s the book I wish I’d had twelve years ago when I was going through what you are now.

EMPATH: What is this gift for? If it’s possible to pick up other people’s feelings, there has to be a reason for it. I don’t know why I have this gift if I don’t want it. Why is it so uncontrollable? I work on machines because they don’t have feelings. I can’t be around people on a daily basis.

YVONNE: Many empaths find it difficult to be around others-some even become hermits. We empaths are more comfortable in an environment where our own energy is predominant.

The gift is to help heal humanity and the planet. It is controllable. I’m putting together a free telesummit in September to train empaths how to use the gift to heal themselves and others without paying a personal price.

I had to clear my own energy field after working with this client. I also cleared his field for him and arranged a follow-up chat to see how he is doing after he starts putting some grounding and centering exercises into practice. He plans to have more energy work done to get back on track. I hope he and you will attend the free training telesummit, “Empaths Shifting into 2012: A Telesummit to Help Energy-Sensitive People Understand Their Spiritual Role on Earth.”

Everything on this planet is composed of energy. Empathy fatigue is not something your doctor will diagnose or treat. It is an energetic imbalance and must be corrected through spiritual means. For far too long the medical world has tried to separate the body from the mind and soul. We are entering a time when this will no longer be possible. The medical world will either have to change to embrace spiritual practices, or people-especially empaths-will have to find alternative methods for maintaining health on all levels.

Is Table Salt ‘Really’ Bad for You?

Salts are essential for life. However, common table salt and the salt found in processed foods are not the same as the salts needed by the body. Table salt is not natural salt. Too much of it is supposed to be harmful to health.

Table salt is the ionic compound sodium chloride, which may also contain added moisture absorbers and iodine.

Natural salt is the rock halite, which is around four fifths sodium chloride, plus traces of minerals like vanadium and phosphorus.

A proper potassium-to-sodium ratio in the diet is important because an imbalance may lead to medical problems such as:

  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Heart disease
  • Memory impairment
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Hyperkalemia – too much potassium

The easiest way to prevent a potassium-to-sodium imbalance is by avoiding processed foods and eating potassium-rich foods.

Foods rich in potassium are:-

  • Bananas
  • Dark leafy greens
  • Beans such as kidney beans and white beans
  • Potato skins
  • Dried apricots
  • Salmon
  • White mushrooms
  • Avocados
  • Nuts such as walnuts, pistachio nuts, almonds, cashew nuts
  • Squash and pumpkin seeds
  • Dried figs and dates

Processed foods are very low in potassium, but high in sodium. Examples are:-

  • Non-whole grain breads and rolls
  • Prepared pasta dishes,
  • Cured meats
  • Canned soups and sauces
  • Snack foods such as potato crisps, pretzels and popcorn

A diet of whole, organically grown foods will provide more potassium compared to sodium.

Although a good salt balance regulates blood pressure, there are exceptions to potassium levels that are generally recommended for most people. Some people with heart disease are at risk of accumulating excess potassium, while others may excrete too much.

People with diabetes may have too much potassium because their kidneys might be faulty, or because they are taking prescription medications.

But is all this about ‘salt’ the real truth? Perhaps not. Here’s why…

In 2011, an American Journal of Hypertension report of studies involving over 6,000 people found no evidence that cutting salt consumption reduces the risk for heart disease in people with normal or high blood pressure.

Another report concluded that the less sodium people excrete in urine (a measure of sodium consumption) the greater is the risk of getting heart disease!

These findings question the belief that ‘too much salt is bad for you’.

In the 1970s, Lewis Dahl of the Brookhaven National Laboratory, claimed that he had evidence that salt causes high blood pressure… after experimenting on rats. He fed them the human equivalent of 500 grams of sodium a day. The average person consumes only 8.5 grams of salt each day. No comparison there then…

Dahl also found that population trends are strong evidence of a link between salt consumption and hypertension. Japanese people, for example, eat a lot of salt and tend to have high blood pressure.

But a report in American Journal of Hypertension years later concluded that no such association of sodium intake within populations exists. Instead, genetics or other cultural factors might be to blame.

In 1977, American people were advised to cut their salt intake by up to 85 per cent owing to Dahl’s findings.

A 2006 report published in the American Journal of Medicine compared the daily sodium intakes of 78 million Americans to their risk of dying from heart disease over a 14 year period. It concluded that the more sodium people ate, the less likely they were to die from heart disease!

A 2007 study published in the European Journal of Epidemiology tracked 1,500 people for five years and found no association between urinary sodium levels and the risk of heart disease.

It seems that for every study suggesting that salt is bad for you, another does not!

Such studies only create conjecture, not evidence.

Low-salt diets could have side effects, such as when salt intake is cut, the body reacts by releasing the enzyme renin and the hormone aldosterone in order to increase blood pressure!

Who can win at this game?

What we have is a mish-mash of conflicting data. If a clinical trial were to be carried out to determine the effects of low-salt diets over time, it would be financially prohibitive. So it will never be done.

The anti-salt lobby will undoubtably continue with dodgy science, with too many extrapolations made.

Contagious Nature Of Bronchitis – How True Is It?

To know whether bronchitis is contagious or not, you need to know something about the types, causes, and symptoms of the disorder.

What is Chronic Bronchitis?

In chronic bronchitis, there is inflammation of the mucosal membranes of the bronchial tubes due to infection, a condition that leads to an excess in the production of mucus. This extra mucus disrupts the normal breathing processes by blocking the air passages and preventing the entry of sufficient quantity of air into the lungs.

Symptoms of Chronic Bronchitis

The symptoms of chronic bronchitis includes difficulty in breathing, breathlessness, wheezing, pain in the chest, productive cough, and discomfort. The typical chronic bronchitis cough, intense and persistent, is also known as “smoker’s cough.” These symptoms are persistent and intensify as the disease progresses. During the initial stages of bronchitis, patients notice its symptoms either in the evening or in the morning.

Chronic bronchitis is usually accompanied by pulmonary problems such as pneumonia and emphysema. With the passage of time, chronic bronchitis patients suffer from poor oxygenation and hypoventilation. Lack of oxygen results in cyanosis, a condition characterized by a bluish tinge on the skin that suggests the presence of pneumonia or emphysema.

Difficulties of Treating Chronic Bronchitis

Medical science has still not found appropriate medicines to cure this condition. It focuses on relieving the symptoms of this condition in order to prevent it from proceeding to more complicated stages. The disease can last for three months a year for two consecutive years, and there can always be a relapse.

People suffering from chronic bronchitis are more susceptible to all sorts of infection and do not respond easily to medication. The condition does not respond to antibiotics as well as acute bronchitis does. This is because the excess mucus produced by the bronchial tubes is an excellent ground for the rapid multiplication of bacteria and other infection-causing organisms.

Causes of Bronchitis

Smoking is not the only major cause of chronic bronchitis although the ailment is commonly seen among regular smokers. Smoking in itself does not cause the disease; but it facilitates the multiplication of bacteria and thereby slows the healing process in the respiratory tissues. Continuous exposure to pollutants such as hazardous chemicals, smoke, or dust is responsible for chronic bronchitis.

When acute bronchitis is neglected or wrongly treated, it often progresses to chronic bronchitis or some other pulmonary disorder. On the other hand, infection of the lungs is responsible for acute bronchitis. About ten percent of acute bronchitis is bacterial while ninety percent is viral. When a person is continuously affected by acute bronchitis, his or her bronchial tubes are weakened, and this paves the way for chronic bronchitis.

Factors such as industrial pollution are also responsible for chronic bronchitis. Most patients of chronic bronchitis are coal miners, metal molders, and grain handler. Many of them work in the midst of dust. Atmospheres high in sulfur dioxide can also aggravate the symptoms of chronic bronchitis.

How Contagious is Bronchitis?

Certain types of bronchitis such as asthmatic bronchitis is not contagious because virus or bacteria have no role to play here. This condition is contagious only when bacteria or virus are transferred from person to person by direct or indirect contact. When an infected person coughs or sneezes, fluid from his or her nose or mouth can spread to others around him or her.

Bronchitis can also spread when common vessels and drinking glasses are shared or when handkerchiefs or tissues used by an infected person are touched.

Since viruses complete their life cycle in a few days, bronchitis that follows a viral cold is not contagious. However, the condition is contagious if the patient still displays symptoms of cold.

If the person has been suffering from the condition for more than ten days, there is no danger of the condition being contagious; this is the aftermath of bronchitis.

Healthy people only need to take care to prevent getting infected. Beware of infectious particles when a person suffering from bronchitis coughs; you could then catch the infection.

The History of the Ficus Tree

The genus of the Ficus contains 800 species and 2000 varieties of trees, shrubs and vines. These plants are grown in many different climates including the tropical forest, the Middle East, Africa and the United States. With the wide array of ficus trees available, you can actually find them almost any place in the world.

The Common Fig tree is a ficus variety and can be traced back to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, mentioned in Genesis. There are fig trees found and excavated outside of Jericho that are 11,400 years old! This find is the oldest cultivated crop of fig trees found to date. The ficus genus has existed for 60-80 million years! The Banyan species of ficus seems to replant itself as it grows, dips itself down into the earth, and shoots off new growth.

The fig and ficus trees have been produced for food, religious and practical uses. The fig fruit was part of the food found in the Promised Land – it was referred to as “honey”. Butterflies feed on figs, as do several other species. The soft wood of the ficus was used in Ancient Egypt to produce the caskets that mummies were later found in. Uganda used the bark of the ficus to make paper similar to the Egyptian papyrus. The fig/ficus is held sacred by Buddha; and in Islam and East Asia. The World Tree in the Hindu religion is of the Ashvastha species. As you can see – the ficus is quite common throughout history and this is just the top of the iceberg! Is it any wonder that the ficus, therefore, is considered a keystone species; meaning that many of the living rely on it for their existence?

The fig varieties come in two forms: the edible and inedible. The Common Fig is inedible, as the fruit is of the male and female variety. Only the female fruit is edible. The fig is formed as compressed, minute male and female flowers grown inside the “pod” and is considered an inside-out flower. Only one species of wasp per species of ficus can pollinate. For that reason, some ficus varieties never bloom because the tree outnumbers the wasp.

The ficus can be a bit hard to grow. The genus requires temperatures of 60-72º; only moist, not wet soil, and bright or filtered light. They can be an insidious plant, with high leaf-litter in season. With these varieties being this picky and hard to upkeep, they are still a good indoor plant.

The ficus works well indoors potted and with southern exposure. If you use a live one, leaves will still fall. Lifelike artificial Banyan, Rubber and Fig trees are available for purchase.

The artificial ficus varietals can be produced with natural wood trunks and polyester or silk leaves. The foliage can seem real enough that you may find someone watering your (fake) office plant! There is a wide range of sizes available for your artificial ficus. These will live forever in your office corner and fit well inside cubicles. There’s no mess and no fuss.

Alive or artificial, the ficus can be a nice addition to your home or work place.

How to Avoid the Pitfalls With Natural Fibroid Treatment

Many women suffering with uterine fibroids recognize the unattractive options offered by conventional medicine. These include hormone drugs and various surgical procedures. Often women who have opted for surgery are dismayed when new fibroid tumors appear only a few months following their procedure.

Not surprisingly, this is why so many women pursue natural alternative treatment approaches for uterine fibroid tumors. However the results with natural approaches are mixed. Some experience fast and lasting results, some experience slow and lasting results, some have only minimal improvement and some will complain that their efforts were a total waste of time.

Why so many different outcomes? Well, we have to acknowledge that the same could be said about a variety of conventional treatments. Not all patients respond to the same treatments due to a number of variables. Also, when discussing natural fibroid treatment, not all of the programs are the same. Since excessive estrogen fuels the growth of fibroids, most programs aim to address estrogen dominance and help a woman bring her estrogen-progesterone ratio into balance.

With the most common and widely known natural approaches, major changes in diet are necessary along with multiple herbal and nutritional supplements. Often detoxification programs are part of the program as well.

Many women fail at these natural treatment programs for uterine fibroids because they are rigorous and require dedication and consistent compliance. For most people big diet and lifestyle changes are difficult to adjust to and many things get in the way of successful execution.

Other reasons such programs fail is that despite dietary and lifestyle changes, women are still exposed to sources of estrogen in certain foods or in their environment. Many women are unwilling to abandon pharmaceutical contraception. All oral and injected contraceptive drugs use some amount of estrogen in their formula. Some post-menopausal women are unwilling to part with estrogen replacement drugs that help control hot flashes. Additionally, some medications such as corticosteroids create havoc with hormone levels.

The top foods to be avoided are soy and flax products. Regarding the environment, a woman may be doing everything right in her program yet continue to experience growing fibroid tumors because she lives on a farm or near a golf course where she is exposed to high levels of herbicides — known xenoestrogens. In the most ironic examples, the very supplements recommended to shrink fibroids may contain soy or other phytoestrogens.

If a woman has found success with such a program she has improved her overall wellness and shrunk the fibroid tumor. The remains of the fibroid usually stay in the uterus.

Some programs aim at dissolving the tumors rapidly using systemic enzymes that contain a fibroid-eating enzyme (fibrinolytic enzyme). All fibrotic tissue is digested and the uterus is cleared any remains of fibroid tumors. These programs can work very well but by themselves do not address the underlying cause of the condition. If enzymes are continued as maintenance, the enzymes will dissolve fibrotic tissue before it becomes a tumor. If the enzymes are not continued indefinitely, the tumors may return.

Most often women experience failure with enzyme programs because the enzyme formula is not potent enough (look for a professional strength product), they do not take a dose high enough for long enough, the enzymes are not taken between meals or not taken consistently like clockwork, or the fibroids are so old that they are encased in calcium and the enzymes can’t get to the tumor to digest it.

Dosing with enzymes may require experimentation until an activation dose is found. Often this means exceeding the recommended dose on the label. It is understandable that anyone would likely be hesitant in doing this. However, a pure systemic enzyme product has no toxic dose, and taking large amounts poses no risk. For calcium encased tumors, taking magnesium citrate helps dissolve the excessive calcium so enzymes can do their work.

Clearly the best way to avoid failure using a natural uterine fibroid treatment program is to combine the best that each approach has to offer and follow it consistently. Fortunately, a simple and fool-proof program is currently available that utilizes systemic enzymes and two other products to provide a comprehensive natural approach (assuming other sources of estrogen are avoided).

On My Worst Days: A Day In the Life of a Mom With Clinical Depression

You’re trying so hard to keep it together. You hoped today would be better, but you woke up feeling the same sense of dread and panic as you have for the last two weeks. You know it won’t last forever, but it’s getting old. And it’s getting worse.

You can’t stay in bed, even though your body is screaming for rest, because you have three kids to take care of. So, you drag yourself out of bed and perform your duties as if they are hardwired into your brain. You think a cup of coffee might give you some energy, but instead it makes the pounding in your chest worse. Kids fed, check. Diapers changed, check. Is this all you’ll accomplish today?

You’ve tried self-care, deep breathing and being good to yourself, but nothing is working. Your five-year-old’s squeals and one-year-old’s cries pierce your ears like a siren. You try not to shout, but find yourself doing it anyway. Then you get angry at yourself for being “that” mom.

You know it’s not their fault. Your toddler doesn’t know your skin feels raw and your senses are on high alert, so she climbs on you, pinches you and pulls at your clothes. She doesn’t know that today her play feels like torture.

You leave your seven-year-old in charge and retreat to the shower – maybe there you will get some relief. At least here, with the noise of the water, you can cry. You fight the urge to turn the water on too hot and scald your skin. You try to focus on your breathing, and the sound of the water- try to be here in the moment, but your mind won’t allow it. It screams at you in a hundred voices. Your mind is a crowded room with a locked door. Your five-year old bursts in on your thoughts with an urgent need to tattle on her brother. You tell her in the calmest voice you can manage, you will be out in a minute.

As you dry yourself, you catch a glimpse in the full-length mirror. When did you get so fat? Look how gross you are! Why even bother with makeup, you can’t fix ugly! Your mind screams at you. “Shut up,” you mutter aloud, hoping no one hears.

You take a deep breath and go back out to your kids. One wants a snack. One wants to play a video game. The youngest has taken off her diaper and peed on the floor. All you can manage is a weak sigh as you get a snack, clean up the floor and re-dress your toddler.

“I can’t do this! I can’t do this! Please help me!” your inner child pleads, but there is no one here to help you. You give in and allow your kids to play video games and watch a movie so you can have some quiet. Then scold yourself again for being a failure as a mother.

Snap out of it! You wish so badly that you could. What’s wrong with you? You have depression. And, although you have been in remission for several months, your symptoms like to pop up every now and then like a cold sore, reminding you they will never really leave.

You cancel outings you are meant to attend, (by text and Facebook, because you can’t possibly face a telephone call at this point) making up excuses. The excuses seem necessary because stigma still exists, and you can’t possibly just tell people “I can’t cope right now, so I won’t be able to make it to the playdate.” What would they think of you if they knew?

As your two eldest watch the television and your youngest plays with toy trains, you write. You write because it’s what you do. You write because perhaps it will help to get it out. You write because maybe, just maybe, someone will read this and not feel so alone.

You spend most of the day on the couch. When your husband gets home from work, you are finally honest and tell him you’re in pain and struggling to cope. He hugs you and strokes your hair, because he’s your best friend. He reminds you how much you’ve been through together and that together, you will get through this, too.

You feel a bit better and turn to one of the coping skills you’ve learned over the years. You make a list of reasons why you are awesome. At first it seems forced, but by the time you get to “lived with depression for over two decades and I’m kicking its ass”, you begin to smile.

It will get better. Maybe not tomorrow. Maybe not the next day. But it will get better for you. And it will get better for me, too.

Pain and Inflammation Gone With Serrapeptase

It is amazing how a squirmy silkworm can make a life changing difference from a life filled with pain, painful inflammation or disease and change it to a life of health and happiness. Serrapeptase has been used in Europe and Asia for over 30 years to replace the chemical agents referred to as NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Serrapeptase is an alternative to aspirin, ibuprofen and other OTC (over the counter) medications. As a nature created protease enzyme agent that has no known side effects when used, it does not harm your body or organs. Just the opposite is true, it heals and removes many of the disease or harmful deposits that can cause you pain, inflammation, some cancers and arterial blockages.

What is this wonder enzyme? It has been titled and correctly so, “The Miracle Enzyme” by Robert Redfern.

Isolated from the microorganism, Serratia E15, Serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme (protease) that will work in the human body to remove scar tissue (dead tissue) and has a strong anti-inflammatory effect within our bodies. We can thank the silkworm for this miracle. This enzyme was originally found in the silkworm intestine. The silkworm uses it to digest the mulberry leaf and also create a hole in its hard cocoon so that it could exit and a moth and fly off. As we know, the outer layer on the cocoon is the origin of silk that is used in thread and then made into clothing. Today this enzyme is a commercial product derived through fermentation. The history and art of making silk is a fascinating story and one I enjoyed reading about.

Serrapeptase has so many case studies and amazing results that it would be difficult not to place it in a healing category all by itself. There are results showing it dissolving dead tissue, cysts, arterial plaque, inflammation and dissolving the substance that holds blood clots together. There does not seem to be many conditions or diseases in our bodies that have not been reported for this enzyme to improve or clear.

I personally have seen the effects of Serrapeptase in the improvement of removing scar tissue from my foot that was so painful I could hardly walk. Now I can go and do most everything without the unbearable pain. The doctor recommended 2 separate surgeries to remove the scar tissue so that I would not loose a toe due to the surgery and lack of blood flow. I also have PMR (polymyalgia rheumatica) a very painful and debilitating disease, requiring a steroid daily treatment to reduce the pain from the inflammation in my body. I have to have blood tests every 6 weeks and since I have been taking Serrapeptase, my blood results have dropped and I am taking less steroids. I will not go into the effects of taking a steroid but believe me, it is not good for the body and organs. I am thankful for the results I have noticed since taking Serrapeptase and expect the results to continue to improve. Oh, by the way, the results I noticed started within 2 weeks of taking Serrapeptase and prior to that, no changes in the pain or inflammation in either condition for over a year.

My sister is taking the enzyme and has also noticed great results. She has for many years had lumps in her legs that have made it very painful to walk or stand. She noticed that after just 2 weeks on Serrapeptase, that in her shopping in Walmart, which normally she can only walk for about 10 minutes, she had been there over 40 minutes and noticed the reduced pain. She has also had several surgeries for her sinus condition over the years and has noticed a clearing of that problem also. She has called several times to thank me for sending her the first bottle. She is a believer and has re-ordered multi-bottles 2 additional times.

I will list some of the conditions that have shown anywhere from a slight, to what is considered a miracle in the results of using Serrapeptase. There many experts and reports that verify the positive results of Serrapeptase, some are documented on my website as examples and I am truly amazed at the wonderful results that have been reported.

There are many other diseases and conditions that can be helped or eliminated by the use of Serrapeptase. New results are being reported all the time and I expect to see many new amazing results as time continues. Serrapeptase was so valuable in its results, that in Germany, a prescription was required to get this enzyme. It has been used and researched in Europe and Asia for over 30 years. Serrapeptase was not introduced into the United States until 2002 and now we have it available here to improve our Health also.

It should be noted that like any other natural or herbal supplement, you should talk with your doctor to make sure there are no situations or medications that could affect your health condition while taking Serrapeptase. There are no known side effects with this enzyme and the dosage can vary depending on your personal condition. I personally started with a higher dosage and will reduce the amount to a maintenance dosage once I have reached the improvements in my body.

Serrapeptase can be taken by adults, children, dogs and horses. There have been dramatic results in animals with diseases like Arthritis and tumors. The tablet form can be taken whole or chewed up. The capsule can be taken whole or split and added to juice, water or honey. It is great for sore throats when dissolved and swallowed slowly. It will normally work within 15 to 30 minutes to eliminate the sore throat. To be most effective, Serrapeptase is enteric coated to pass through the stomach and be dissolved in the intestines. It should be taken on an empty stomach and can be taken up to 3 times a day and multiple tablets/capsules may be taken to achieve your maximum goal.

“Serrapeptase may become the most widely used nutritional supplement of all time because of it’s effectiveness with such a wide range of conditions”

Aircraft Rivets and Aerospace Fasteners

Aircraft rivets

The two major types of rivets used in aircraft are the common solid shank rivets, which must be driven using an air-driven gun and bucking bar; and special (blind) rivets, which are installed with special installation tools. Solid shank rivets are used widely during assembly and repair work. They are identified by the material of which they are made, the head type, size of shank, and temper condition.

The material used for the majority of solid shank rivets is aluminum alloy. The strength and temper conditions of aluminum alloy rivets are identified by digits and letters similar to those used to identify sheet stock. The 1100, 2017-T, 2024-T, 2117-T, and 5056 rivets are the six grades usually available. AN-type aircraft solid rivets can be identified by code markings on the rivet heads. A rivet made of 1100 material is designated as an “A” rivet, and has no head marking. The 2017-T alloy rivet is designated as a “D” rivet and has a raised teat on the head. Two dashes on a head indicate a 2024-T alloy designated as a “DD” rivet. The 2117-T rivet is designated as an “AD” rivet, and has a dimple on the head.

A “B” designation is given to a rivet of 5056 material and is marked with a raised cross on the head. Each type of rivet is identified by a part number to allow the user to select the correct rivet. The numbers are in series and each series represents a particular type of head.

Countersunk head rivets are used where a smooth finish is desired. The 100-degree countersunk head has been adopted as the standard in the United States. The universal head rivet (AN470) has been adopted as the standard for protruding-head rivets, and may be used as a replacement for the roundhead, flathead, and brazier head rivet. These rivets can also be purchased in half sizes by designating a “0.5” after the main length.

Replace rivets with those of the same size and strength whenever possible. If the rivet hole becomes enlarged, deformed, or otherwise damaged; drill or ream the hole for the next larger size rivet. Rivets may not be replaced by a type having lower strength properties, unless the lower strength is adequately compensated by an increase in size or a greater number of rivets. It is acceptable to replace 2017 rivets of 3/16 inch diameter or less, and 2024 rivets of 5/32 inch diameter or less with 2117 rivets for general repairs, pro vided the replacement rivets are 1/32 inch greater in diameter than the rivets they replace.

Rivet edge distance is defined as the distance from the centre of the hole to the nearest edge of the sheet. Rivet spacing is the distance from the centre of the rivet hole to the centre of the adjacent hole. Unless structural deficiencies are suspected, the spacing and edge distance should duplicate those of the original aircraft structure. If structural deficiencies are suspected, the following may be used in determining minimum edge distance and rivet spacing. Special fasteners may require an FAA field approval.

Blind rivets are used under certain conditions when there is access to only one side of the structure. Typically, the locking characteristics of a blind rivet are not as good as a driven rivet. Therefore, blind rivets are usually not used when driven rivets can be installed.

The 2117 rivets may be driven in the condition received, but 2017 rivets above 3/16 inch in diameter and all 2024 rivets are to be kept packed in dry ice or refrigerated in the “quenched” condition until driven, or be re heat treated just prior to driving, as they would otherwise be too hard for satisfactory riveting.

Aerospace fasteners, special fasteners and blind fasteners.

When solid shank rivets are impractical to use, then special fasteners are used. Special fastening systems used for aircraft construction and repair are divided into two types, special and blind fasteners. Special fasteners are sometimes designed for a specific purpose in an aircraft structure. The name “special fasteners” refers to its job requirement and the tooling needed for installation. They are used in fluid-tight areas, on aircraft in air intake areas where rivet parts may be ingested by the engine, on aircraft control surfaces, hinges, hinge brack ets, flight control actuating systems, wing attachment fittings, landing gear fittings, on floats or amphibian hulls below the water level, or other heavily-stressed locations on the aircraft. For metal repairs to the airframe, the use of blind rivets must be specifically authorized by the airframe manufacturer or approved by a representative of the FAA.

Self plugging friction-lock cherry rivets. This patented rivet may be installed when there is access to only one side of the structure. The blind head is formed by pulling the tapered stem into the hollow shank. This swells the shank and clamps the skins tightly together. When the shank is fully upset, the stem pulls in two. The stem does not fracture flush with the head and must be trimmed and filed flush for the installation to be complete. Because of the friction-locking stem, these rivets are very sensitive to vibrations. Inspection is visual, with a loose rivet standing out in the standard “smoking rivet” pattern. Removal consists of punching out the friction locked stem and then treating it like any other rivet. Mechanical-lock rivets have a device on the puller or head which locks the centre stem into place when installed. Many friction-lock rivet centre stems fall out due to vibrations; this in turn, greatly reduces its shear strength. The mechanical-lock rivet was developed to prevent that problem. Various manufacturers make mechanical-lock fasteners such as: Bulbed Cherrylock, CherryMax, Olympic-Loks, and Huck-Loks.

Whirlpool Use and Whirlpool Temperatures for Physical Therapy

In physical therapy, whirlpool refers to a special kind of bathtub used in water baths or hydrotherapy. Whirlpools generate air bubbles and water from pumps placed at strategic points allowing the flow of air and water to massage specific muscles of the body. The intensity of circulation of air and water provides either gentle or deep massage. Whirlpools can be either cold or hot with adjustable whirlpool temperatures for physical therapy.

There are different types of whirlpools. They can be permanent fixtures or portable sets. Some whirlpool designs allow full body submersion and others are made for treatment of extremities only. There are cold whirlpools, which is often for treatment of single parts of the body, and warm whirlpools, for full body therapy.

Usually, cold whirlpool temperatures for physical therapy are set at a range of 50º F to 70º F while warm whirlpool temperatures for physical therapy ranges from 100º F to 110º F. Depending on the temperature, whirlpool treatments can last from 10 minutes up to 30 minutes.

Whirlpools are ideal for improving circulation and performing range of movement exercises. In addition, wound care is one of the common uses of whirlpools in physical therapy. Warm whirlpool temperatures for physical therapy wound treatment cleanse wounds; increases blood circulation in the wounded area as well as relieve pain. It also helps soften necrotic tissues and reduce wound infections.

Physical therapists follow a guide for the administration of whirlpool treatment for wound care. Typically, patients undergo whirlpool treatment once to twice every day for 20 minutes. Depending on your wound, whirlpool treatment may include the use of an antiseptic. After whirlpool, the therapist rinses the wound with water to remove any residues.

Therapists closely monitor whirlpool temperatures for physical therapy. Usually, therapists keep the water temperature at 92 °F to 96 °F and not exceeding 38 °C for patients with cardiopulmonary disease. The higher the temperature of the water the greater is the blood circulation.

Health care clinics and facilities have strict policies when it comes to sanitation in whirlpool or water therapy. Personnel must properly clean whirlpool tanks and use disinfectants to prevent infections.

Whirlpool treatment is not for all wound patients. There are also only certain types of wounds that can really benefit from this treatment. Some wounds may even become worse with this method of care. Your therapist will evaluate if whirlpool treatment is suitable to your health condition and type of wound.

Signs and Symptoms of Hypoglycemia, Low Blood Sugar Level

Hypoglycemia is a diabetic condition induced as a result of low blood sugar level in human body. Prolonged fasting, less carbohydrate concentration in food intake are some of the main causes behind hypoglycemia. This silent killer is unpredictable and can happen at any time even during our sleeping hours. If not seriously taken and untreated, hypoglycemia may lead to death of patient. Signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia vary depending upon the diabetic condition of patient. Some diabetic patients feel shakiness, weakness and dizziness due to hypoglycemia. It may induce nervousness and faintness among some other patients. Often hunger is another sign shown for hypoglycemia.

People suffering from this diabetic condition may frequently ask for food due to hunger. Rumbling sound which is produced as a result of movement of gas in stomach can be heard in some patients. This condition is medically termed as Borborygmus. Hypoglycemia creates upper stomach complaints and induce vomiting tendency in patients. Hypoglycemic patients may prone to several emotional changes like eagerness and anxiety. Situation creates tongue twisting problem and difficulty in normal speaking.

Hypoglycemia occurring during night time sleeping hours is dangerous than daytime hypoglycemia. Here patient may not feel or know about the situation in his sleep. Formation of cold sweat, night mares, crying out, confusion, irritability and tiredness after waking up are some of the signs and symptoms due to night time hypoglycemic condition. These signs and symptoms are formed in order to counterpart the reduced blood sugar level. Studies say that stress hormones like adrenalin and occurrence of neuroglycopenia induced due to reduced blood sugar level in brain are responsible for these signs and symptoms.

Increased heart beat or tachycardia can be seen among some hypoglycemic patients. If palpitation persists for a longer time even after taking medicine, never hesitate to consult a diabetic specialist. Pupil of patients may appear dilated in some cases. Dilated pupil condition is medically referred as mydriasis by doctors. Double, blurred vision and flashy lights in vision are other commonly seen eye problems related to hypoglycemia. Pallor caused due to reduced oxyhaemoglobin in blood is another symptom of hypoglycemia. Patients may show behavioral changes like clamminess and rage. Some patients feel Paresthesia or pricking feel effect during hypoglycemic conditions.

Hypoglycemia may even lead way to certain neurological dysfunctions like ataxia and stroke in age old patients. Ataxia stops muscular movements due to its lack of co-ordination with neuron cells. Patients with ataxia may appear like drunkard. Severe hypoglycemia results in stroke condition or paralysis of body parts. In new born babies, hypoglycemia creates jerking effect and jitters while sleeping. Certain type of hypoglycemia worsens situation by the formation of epileptic seizure.

As a result of this unwarned seizure typically known as epilepsy, patient losses his or her awareness. Automatic behaviour or automatism characterized by loss of self control is another disorder exhibited by patients under this category. High emotional stress induced in hypoglycemic patients tempt in developing amnesia or loss of memory especially in elder people. Signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia vary with age and intensity of hypoglycemic condition. Hypoglycemia can be well managed with proper medication by analyzing these signs and symptoms.

Low Level Laser Therapy A New Source For Pain Relief

Low level laser therapy (LLLT) is commonly used for the temporary relief of pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and neck pain. LLLT also has proven beneficial for the treatment of wound healing. There is no heat, or sound or vibration emitted with LLLT. The process delivers a combination of monochromatic light and laser radiation. The therapy is typically delivered by allied health care professionals, or in some cases a physician.

LLLT is becoming more and more accepted by mainstream medicine, and therefore has the potential to provide relief to millions of people suffering from pain, and other patients who are dealing with wounds that are not healing sufficiently. The procedure is painless and lasts about 10 minutes. Depending on the individual patient needs, it is recommend that treatments be administered twice a week. For patients who suffer from chronic pain due to rheumatoid arthritis, neck pain or any pain due to inflammation laser therapy can mean significant improvement in their quality of life.

It is believed that low level laser therapy may increase serotonin and endorphins and improve blood circulation, which can be especially helpful to diabetics whose wounds are slow to heal. For arthritis sufferers, it has been shown to increase lymphatic flow which often results in reduced edema. People who have rheumatoid arthritis know that it is the chronic inflammation that increases pain and contributes to permanent joint damage.

LLLT has been shown to be effective for postoperative pain. In a double blind study surgical patients who received a six to eight minute laser therapy reported pain levels of mild to moderate. Those patients who did not receive LLLT reported pain levels of moderate to severe. More studies are being done to provide further evidence of the efficacy of laser therapy.

LLLT may be referred to as laser acupuncture when the laser is applied to pressure points. It is also known as cold laser therapy or low-power laser therapy. The use of LLLT is gaining mainstream acceptance in traditional medicine. Some health care insurance companies, but certainly not all, cover the therapy, and the treatment has a CPT (current procedural terminology) code for billing. Those insurance companies who do not cover the treatment claim that it is still experimental.

The treatment is safe and painless. People suffering from pain, especially chronic pain, are eager to find some form of relief. Pain sufferers have nothing to lose, except their pain, by trying LLLT.

There are various products available, and all may not be created equal. Research can be very helpful in making the decision about which product to use. If the product is FDA (Federal Drug Administration) approved it will be a better choice than a product that is not FDA approved.

There are many chronic conditions such as arthritis, lymphedema, neck pain and neuralgia are often not responsive to traditional medical treatment. Each of these conditions impacts the quality of everyday life. Living in chronic pain can cause other emotional problems for sufferers. Why not try low level laser therapy if other treatments have not been successful? Physicians and physical therapists can help patients make the decision that is right for them.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Chronic fatigue syndrome is defined as unexplained, persistent fatigue which lasts for six months or more, and exhibits at least four of the eight primary signs and symptoms. These include loss of memory or concentration, sore throat, painful and enlarged lymph nodes, muscle pain, migratory joint pain without swelling or redness, headache, sleep disturbance, and extreme exhaustion lasting more than 24 hours after physical or mental exercise. This condition is believed to be due to several causes like a compromised immune system, disturbed hormones, chronic inflammation of the nervous system or a virus infection. People in their 40s and 50s are most affected, with women more likely to be affected than men.

The diagnosis of this medical condition is more often by a process of exclusion of other known disease entities. The chronic nature of this condition results in several complications like depression, social isolation, life-style restrictions and missed work. The Ayurvedic treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome is aimed at treating the presenting signs and symptoms. Medicines like Laxmi-Vilas-Ras and Shrung-Bhasma are used to treat depression. Iron deficiency anemia can be treated using medicines like Punarnava-Mandur and Tapyadi-Loh. Loss of memory or concentration can be treated using medicines like Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Mandukparni (Centella asiatica), Shankhpushpi (Convolvulus pluricaulis) and Vacha (Acorus calamus). Painful and enlarged lymph nodes are treated using medicines like Kachnaar-Guggulu, Medohar-Guggulu and Panch-Tikta-Ghrut-Guggulu.

Pain in the muscles and joints is treated using medicines like Yograj-Guggulu, Triphala-Guggulu, Kaishor-Guggulu, Maha-Vat-Vidhwans-Ras and Vat-Gajankush-Ras. Chronic, persistent headache can be treated using medicines like Godanti-Bhasma and Pathyadi-Qadha. Sleep disturbance can be treated using medicines like Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi) and Sarpagandha (Raulwofia serpentina). Herbal medicines like Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra), Bhumiamalaki (Phyllanthus niruri), Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) and Bhrungraj (Eclipta alba) can be used to overcome the effects of viral infection.

Extreme exhaustion, which is the hallmark of this condition, can be treated using medicines like Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Behada (Terminalia bellerica), Vishwa (Zinziber officinalis), Marich (Piper nigrum), Pippali (Piper longum), Chitrak (Plumbago zeylanica), Suvarna-Bhasma, Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Bala (Sida cordifolia), Arjun (Terminalia arjuna), Suvarna-Parpati and Suvarna-Malini-Vasant.

It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle and follow a sensible, balanced diet. It is also important to get sufficient sleep and regular exercise. Yogic asanas and pranayam can be used to reduce stress and improve the immune status of the body. In addition to other medicines, cognitive behavior therapy can also help considerably in treating this condition.
