Relieve Itchy Bites and Rashes With Vinegar and Baking Soda

People with sensitive skin know the agony of unbearable itching and redness from insect bites or allergies. If you prefer not to use antihistamines or other medications and would rather use a non-toxic remedy, you may have all you need right in your kitchen cabinet. Vinegar and baking soda, when combined, create a powerful anti-itch solution.

If you have sensitive skin and suffer from allergic reactions to insect bites I feel your pain. My skin is so sensitive that I develop itchy reactions to even the most minor of irritations, such as a belt that’s too tight on my waist, or new shoes pinching the skin on my heels.

Once in a while, my cat will pick up fleas outside and if I get a bite, which I sometimes do around my ankles, the skin will inflame and spread into a rash that’s about ten times the size of the fleabite.

The itch is UNBEARABLE. But, I have finally found something that helps…

Here’s what you’ll need:

A cotton ball

A spray bottle with straight vinegar in it-(white or apple cider vinegar will do.)

Baking soda

Water

1. Swab the area with a cotton ball soaked in the vinegar.

2. Then make a paste with about a tablespoon of baking soda and a few drops of water. Mix the water into the baking soda until the baking soda is moist, but not watery.

3. Spread the paste over the itchy area while it’s still damp from the vinegar. Let it sit for about a minute.

4. Then spray more vinegar (with your spray bottle) on top of the baking soda paste. It will fizz and bubble and after about 10 minutes it will harden and dry. Leave it on until it rubs off naturally.

Not only will it calm the itch, it will also reduce the redness and inflammation. You can repeat this process as often as necessary with no harmful effects. It may dry your skin, however, once the irritation has healed the dryness is easily relieved with an application of lotion. I recommed virgin coconut oil or shea butter if you prefer to use non-toxic products on your skin.

Since I’ve discovered this method, recovery time from bites, rashes, and other skin irritations has diminished significantly. A reaction to a fleabite used to take up to two weeks to heal completely. Now it takes a few days.

You may try this solution on acne blemishes also. I’ve found it reduces the redness and recovery time for them as well.

As always, I wish you good health and great beauty.

Angular Cheilitis – What You Must Know

Are there times when you get what you think is just a cold sore, when a bump or blister shows up on your mouth? Oftentimes, the herpes virus causes this type of sore; a simple cold sore may have you thinking you don’t need to go see your doctor, and you may simply decide to let the “cold sore” heal by itself. However, a condition called angular cheilitis looks very much like a cold sore but in fact is very different. If you have angular cheilitis, you absolutely need to see a doctor, or the outcome may be detrimental to you.

What causes angular cheilitis?

Angular cheilitis is also called perleche, and it shows up as an inflamed sore on your mouth. You may also think you have chapped lips. Many things can cause this, including malnutrition, a fungus, an overabundance of a certain type of yeast called candida albicans, or bacteria. If you have an overabundance of candida, this is called candidiasis.

If you’re malnourished and this is what’s causing your angular cheilitis, you are usually deficient in zinc, riboflavin, and iron. It may be because you’re not eating the right foods, but celiac disease can also cause malnutrition that can in turn cause this disorder. Celiac disease happens because the body “turns on itself” and that the immune system begins to attack the small intestine lining. When this happens, you can’t absorb nutrition properly any longer.

Treating angular cheilitis.

To treat angular cheilitis, you’ll need to first determine what’s causing it. If you have a bacterial infection causing it, you can use Neosporin or rubbing alcohol in the affected area; this should kill the bacteria within a couple of days.

If you have malnutrition or if your body cannot absorb nutrients properly because you’ve had weight-loss surgery, or you have malabsorption syndrome or celiac disease, you’ll need to go visit your doctor for proper treatment. Most often, you’ll get B12 shots on a regular basis and you may be prescribed vitamins as well. You may also be asked to change your eating habits and to include foods with more iron or more leafy vegetables.

If you have candidiasis, this means you have an overabundance of candida albicans, which can result in a fungal infection. In that case, prescription antibiotics and changing your eating habits to exclude or greatly reduce refined carbohydrates, yeast filled foods, and so on, may be necessary.

Natural remedy practitioners promote the use of tea tree oil, petroleum jelly and aloe vera for treatment. These treatments may work, but are only working on the outward evidence of the disease rather than its underlying cause.

If you do decide to pursue a home remedy to treat your condition, make sure you talk to your doctor and find out the cause of your angular cheilitis or perleche as well. If you don’t treat the underlying cause, it may continue, and it may spread to other parts of your body, which will only worsen your condition.

Foods That Cause Eczema – Can Eczema Really Be Blamed on Greasy Foods?

Historically people have placed the blame for their eczema on things they have eaten. Even today you can still hear people say things like, ‘Darn it, I knew I shouldn’t have eaten those chips! Now I’m breaking out again!’, or ‘That bag of peanuts I ate last night broke out all over my body this morning!’. Scientists find more and more proof every day that diet plays only a very small role in causing eczema, and instead of directly causing the rashes and oozing associated with the condition, foods only cause chain reactions in the body systems that can result in the problem.

Proper diet is responsible for overall health. Eating the right foods will help you have healthier skin. By adding more salads, dried fruits, nuts, and juices to your diet, you are also adding vitamins which play a vital role in skin health. Research has shown that with a diet high in Vitamin A, Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, L-Carotene, and Zinc, you’ll find your eczema problem fading away.

On the other hand, it is important that you eliminate caffeine, eggs, nuts, and corn products from your diet. Caffeine is notorious for increasing the stress hormones in your body. Higher levels of stress will cause can trigger break-outs. Foods which contain a lot of caffeine and need to be avoided include tea, coffee, chocolate, and soda. Yeah, that’s right — all the good stuff!

Allergies to eggs, nuts, and corn can trigger eczema outbreaks. Start by reading the packaging on processed foods, and you’ll find that a myriad of products available today are filled with nut and corn products, especially corn. Corn comes disguised in many ways, such as high fructose corn syrup and corn by-products. If you happen to be allergic to these foods, they can start a chain of reactions in your body which can ultimately lead to eczema.

Red meat and dairy products are hard to digest. Recent research has shown that when the body works harder at digesting animal protein, waste products aren’t processed as efficiently. Instead, the wastes will end up staying in the body for longer periods of time where they can block pores and cause more break-outs.

As you can see, none of the foods in themselves cause eczema. Have yourself tested to see if you’re allergic to any foods. Those are the ones you need to avoid. There are foods that boost the good processes in the body while other foods can cause a domino effect through the body systems and come down to the bottom line of more break-outs. In fact, such diverse parts of your life as the amount of exercise, cosmetic usage, hormones, hygiene, and stress all play just as much a part in causing eczema outbreaks as food does.

4 Most Common Corn Snake Diseases – Your Help is Needed

Improper feeding and wrong set up of housing and caging can really affect the corn snake’s health. Some diseases are fungal and some are bacterial. If you noticed that your corn snake has one of the symptoms or diseases, then you should seek professional help for them to introduce proper aid and medications. Did you know that there are many corn snake diseases that can affect your corn snake? Most of these diseases are transmitted by other infected corn snake or by the food you provide them and yes, even the surroundings and housing you set up for them.

Too hot or too cold temperature of their housing can really contribute diseases and symptoms on your corn snake. That is why you must be sure that you provide the right housing for your corn snake as well as the right and proper care to avoid them getting ill. Corn snake diseases are common especially when you keep your snake in the wrong kind of temperature.

Here are some of the common snake diseases and its definitions:

– Mouth Rot (Infectious or Ulcerative Stomatitis). It is a progressive bacterial infection involving the oral lining. The symptom of this is the increase of saliva of your snake. You will see some bubbles from the saliva on your snake’s mouth. The oral lining becomes inflamed and will produce pus.

– Blister Disease. This disease is common to captive snakes. The caused of this disease was a damp and filthy environment. If you noticed some pink to reddish appearance on the bottom-most scales then it is probable that your snake has blister disease. If you noticed this symptom, seek your vet’s help immediately.

– Respiratory Infections. These diseases are very common to corn snakes. The main cause of respiratory diseases among corn snakes is the poor or inadequate housing and caging and even the stress for its surrounding. Treatment should be only introduced by veterinarian.

– Fungal Infection. The most likely spot on snake’s body parts to be infected by fungal are their eyes. This is typically cause by a damp and contaminated environment. Ringworm fungi that normally infect human and other animals can also infect your snakes.

Their life and healthy bodies will only be possible and will only happen if you will treat them right. Corn snakes may be reptiles but remember these cold blooded creatures are God’s creation too. Now that you learn and understand some of the common snake diseases, you should now make sure that you will only provide the right and proper care for you snake pet.

What Is The Difference Between Sanitized and Sterilized Goose Down?

If you ever had a goose down comforter or feather pillow that had a odor, or may have smelt a bit musty, chances are the goose down filling was not cleaned properly at the factory level and you got an inferior product.

People are not allergic to goose down and feathers. They are allergic to what is left in the goose down and feathers.

People are not actually allergic to goose down, goose feathers, or down feathers – it is what is left on the goose down prior to stuffing the comforter or pillow that people are allergic to.

This may sound bad, but things such as dust mites, dander, fats and oils are very common in unwashed goose down material. It is those items, which when not washed out, cause allergies and reactions in some people. It is those items that cause odors in goose down products.

When goose down material is improperly washed at the factory level and allergies arise from some products, most people mistakenly associate the allergy as being directly related to the goose down and feather filling. Because a lot of people are actually not aware of these facts, they assume that it is the goose down they are allergic to.

If you have ever felt uncomfortable, or have experienced having an allergic reaction to what you think is goose down, there are numerous ways which you can avoid a future reaction. It all comes down to selecting the right product.

I can assure you that you are not allergic to properly cleaned and sterilized goose down materials. When goose down is properly cleaned and sterilized, it becomes “truly hypo-allergenic”. This type of goose down has been fully stripped of all allergy causing materials and has been heat-treated to become completely sterile before being put into the comforter or pillow shells.

Another thing to look for is “down-proofed” shells. Down-proofed shells do not leak. Nothing gets in, nothing gets out. When truly hypo-allergenic goose down is put into a down-proofed shell, you are guaranteed an allergy free product.

Some things to be leery of are down filled products that claim to be “sanitized”. There is a difference between the words “sanitized” and “sterilized”.

– Sanitizing is a chemical treatment. It may be used in times where the goose down is not cleaned to truly hypoallergenic standards. By spraying chemical sanitizer onto the goose down, manufacturers are only masking the allergy issue, not solving it.

– Sterilization goose down is a result of heat treatment over time. The top end manufacturers will wash goose down so it is completely free of all dust, dander and mites. Then they will heat the goose down in massive commercial dryers all the way to temperatures in excess of 120 degrees Celsius. When the goose down has been heated to such temperatures, it is held there for a minimum of 30 minutes which ensures sterilization of the goose down material.

Because of this key difference, sanitized goose down cannot be considered “Truly” Hypoallergenic Goose Down, and therefore, is a lesser quality, much cheaper product that sterilized goose down.

According to North American standards, there are numerous requirements that a goose down must meet in order to be considered hypoallergenic goose down. Industry minimum standards for turbidity are 500mm. Top manufacturers within the industry set their own internal turbidity standards at 800mm to ensure true hypoallergenic goose down material is achieved.

In another article, I will explain exactly what “Turbidity” is and how it is calculated. Another cleanliness specification I will reveal is the “Oxygen Number”. These are two of the biggest specifications which determine the cleanliness quality of your goose down filling material.

As you can see, there are many factors that contribute to the cleanliness and quality of truly hypoallergenic goose down, and it is extremely important that you are aware of these factors when purchasing your next luxury goose down comforter, pillow or goose down garments.

Do not be fooled by companies that claim their goose down is allergy free when they do not rid their materials of allergenic substances! Stay informed, live well.

Relationship Advice: Touching = Intimacy and Connection

If you long to hear the words, “I love you,” you’ll be surprised to learn that touching is what will catapult your relationship into the intimacy you desire. You see words are processed in the thinking part of your brain whereas touch goes directly to your emotional centers. Read on to learn 5 fantastic ways to touch.

Touching is one of the most intimate of all actions. It allows you to move into sacred space, creating presence and connection. And yet, we are a touch starved society.

A study done in the 1960’s showed the drastic differences in cultures by observing how many touches were exchanged with pairs of people around the world in coffee houses. Puerto Ricans got the prize touching 180 times an hour while Americans adhered to a strict diet touching only twice within an hour. The hunger for touch may manifest as depression, anxiety, irritability, boredom, pain, moodiness as well as make you feel isolated, separate and lonely.

Thus began some serious research on the importance of touch leading to the discovery that the amount of skin-to-skin contact in our lives plays a crucial role in our happiness and vitality. The act of touching influences our ability to form close relationships with other people, to deal with stress and pain, and even to fight off disease.

So many women complain that their relationships lack intimacy. We are born with an intense skin hunger. The emotional development of babies depends on tons of touching and as adults we have a strong need to be held in someone’s arms, hold hands, be cuddled, be caressed, etc. However, most people don’t touch as often as they would like – afraid of being rejected, seen as needy or vulnerable they cover their need for intimacy with work, activities, TV food, drugs, alcohol.

The first step to developing a successful, intimate relationship with your partner is to first build intimacy with yourself. Exploring every delicious curve of your body will help you get to know what you like and what makes you feel good.

Once you’ve got this down, you can reach out to your partner with confidence and create the closeness you crave.

With all these fantastic reasons to bring touch into relationships let’s take a look at 5 ways you can incorporate touch into your life.

1) Create an intimate connection to yourself by putting on some soft tunes, lighting a candle, laying down, closing your eyes and letting you hands glide over your body, touching every delicious curve.

Enhance this exercise by using an aromatherapy lotion or essential oil with a sexy scent like ylang-ylang or rose. Feel your sense of sensual Self expand!

2) Hugging – full body hugging increases closeness, connection and safety.

3) Kissing – a 20 second kiss will raise his testosterone levels and make you feel closer

4) Massage

The shoulders, hands and feet get emotionally stimulated when touched. New York-based sex therapist Mildred Witkin, suggests couples should practice touching in a way that is not explicitly sexual to keep intimacy and playfulness alive.

5) Two to Tango: Dance classes are a great way to meet new people and have your hand and waist held all evening long. Contact your local YMCA or dance studio for schedules.

Follow these five steps to increase touching and you’ll soon be building the connection and intimacy you crave.

The Problem of Decisiveness in Depression

NEGATIVE SELF-TALK was always incessant whenever I suffered depression. It seemed I couldn’t get out of my own head and my heart fed my head with feelings my mind couldn’t reconcile.

A cycle of worthlessness, fatigue and overload seems to recur to the point that, overall, hope for breaking out is vanquished much too much of the time.

When our heads are a chattering away about unnecessary stuff our conscious capacity is compromised so severely the simplest task(s) become arduous. And when that chatter is constantly “you can’t do this” or “you’re no good” or “it won’t be good enough” or “they won’t appreciate you” or “they don’t like you” – usually at an unconscious level – then we quickly become our own worst enemy. We suddenly don’t have the faculty for being our best asset and investment. That’s a very scary thought.

Empowerment is found in self-efficacy – wherever we get it from.

Self-belief can be a bane. It takes us into narcissistic pride at one end of the continuum, but it also ensures we give ourselves no chance of living a capable life at the other end. Many people are also given to functional depression; their lives are lived in a double-reality – who they are that is incredibly successful and ‘the other person’. Some are affected by “can I do this?” whilst others are constantly saying “what’s the point?”

One of the sternest problems in depression is a lack of decisiveness, whether it manifests by doubting decisions made, regretting them, or in struggling to decide in the first place.

Mindfulness can help if we keep the tasks simple. As the task of decisiveness encroaches, we make suitable space to be able to decide with the information we have at hand. We give ourselves freedom to change tack (without fear of feeling like a failure) as we also give ourselves freedom to continue when we doubt the decision.

It’s important to understand how indecisiveness robs us of our self-worth when we are feeling vulnerable. We need to back the pressure off ourselves. Space is incredibly liberating.

***

Decisiveness is a challenge in depression. As the threads of confidence wear thin and threaten to snap, it’s important to give ourselves space and the freedom to choose the way and to change our minds without berating ourselves.

Depression can be a vulnerability that forces us to doubt every good thought we have. It is good to give ourselves freedom to fail and freedom to change our minds. Being gentle with ourselves is experiencing God’s grace.

Fear of Ants – Ways to Get Over Your Fear of Ants

The fear of ants can be a problem if you live in the country where there’s plenty of ants that flourish. The phobia is with most adults that don’t like insects and the phobia is called myrmecophobia. Shortness of Breath – Anxiety & Panic

Probably the most common symptom of them all with anxiety & panic is shortness of breath; some also describe it as a smothering sensation, or feeling like they are suffocating, like there is no air around them.

This is often the first symptom that will trigger off a panic attack. As soon as the sufferer feels they cannot breathe then the heart begins to race 50 to the dozen, then you begin to feel dizzy like your going to pass out and that’s when the fear of death hits you dead in your tracks.

Or of course, you could feel short of breath, then dizzy (or light-headed), then racing heart beat then scared to your wits end that your going to die or pass-out.

If you’ve ever felt this sensation before, then you should be aware that this is classic symptoms of a panic attack.

It can hit anytime, anywhere. Heck, I used to get this one a lot while driving in my car. And anyone who can relate to that knows that is dam frightening! Because now you’re afraid you’re going to have a car accident with it!

The most important thing in this scenario is to deal with the first symptom. The shortness of breath. I will begin by explaining to you why you feel the shortness of breath.

The blunt of it is obviously poor breathing technique, which apparently majority of the world does not breathe properly. But for the anxiety sufferer it’s usually much more predominant. The anxiety sufferer takes very short quick breaths, therefore not allowing sufficient amount of air flow to your lungs and body.

Here is a quick test you can perform right now on yourself to see if you are breathing correctly. Place your hand between your chest and stomach area, as you breathe in is your chest and stomach area rising? As you breathe out does your hand fall with your stomach and chest?

When I first did this test, I was quite surprised to find that there was little movement at all.

What you need to do is encourage deeper slower breaths. Breathe in slowly and deeply through your nose, and then breathe out through your mouth slowly. You will find when you first start practicing this technique that it will probably make you feel a bit light headed. That’s ok. It’s because your body isn’t used to receiving so much oxygen. It is used to living on the “bread and dripping” bum end scale of oxygen.

Try doing this exercise a few times a day, eventually it will become habit and you will adopt new and healthier breathing habits.

It is important for the anxiety sufferer to know that he/she will not stop breathing from these sensations. You try holding your breath; your body will shortly after force you to breathe again.

Ending Eight Years of Insomnia With Emotional Freedom Techniques

Sometimes a single traumatic event can wreak havoc on the sleep system, even years after the trauma has passed. This was certainly the case with “Danielle,” who had not slept well ever since her husband had died eight years ago. Most nights it took her hours to fall asleep, often not falling asleep until after 2:00 a.m. Other nights she would fall asleep quicker, but then wake around 3:00 a.m. unable to return to sleep.

In situations like this, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT or “Tapping”) can work wonders. EFT is a powerful healing technique using the Mind-Body connection. It combines the ancient art of acupressure with modern psychology. The combination of gently tapping on meridian points while tuning into stressful events from the past, signals to the stress center of the brain to neutralize the charge around the events focused on. For insomniacs, this can often mean smoothing out the kinks in the nervous system so that good sleep can happen again – even if it has been years since good sleep has occurred.

In Danielle’s case, five EFT sessions did the trick.

In our first session we focused on neutralizing the present events that were keeping her head spinning in all directions while she lay awake at night. At the end of our session she reported feeling much lighter, and had a few nights of great sleep before her insomnia returned.

In our second session, we went back to the night her husband had died. She and her husband had been on a cruise and he had died in bed of a heart attack. We moved through the feelings of panic and helplessness as she remembered how she felt when she first realized what was happening. She had been unable to even stay on the phone long enough to get the help she needed because she didn’t want to leave her husband’s side as she was giving him CPR. Finally, in desperation, she stepped outside of her room on the ship and simply screamed for help. Remarkably a neighboring passenger was a nurse and came to offer her services. Within minutes the ship’s doctors were there and Danielle’s panic subsided somewhat, but she remembers feeling distant from the scene and not fully in her body. We tapped and tapped until both feelings of panic and helplessness were down to 0.

Then she fully felt the deep sadness of losing her husband and the guilt of not being able to save him. We tapped on these feelings until they were neutralized, and she felt a great sense of relief.

It was a big moment when she said, “Even though I can’t save him, I deeply and completely accept myself. I forgive myself for not being able to save him because it is done. I did everything I could and there is nothing else I can do.” She reported sleeping great for the next several nights.

In our remaining sessions, we tied up loose ends. We tapped down the guilt she felt at “not being as good of a wife as she could have been,” “not being as good of a mother as she could have been,” and she did some deep forgiveness work for herself and others.

In her last session she said her sleep patterns had improved so much that even when something had upset her during the day, she simply told herself not to worry about it or lose sleep at night – and she didn’t! She slept great! Last I spoke with her she has continued to sleep really well. What a relief after eight years!

Brown Camphor Oil – Production, Properties and Uses

Camphor oil is derived by steam distillation method from the Camphor tree Cinnamomum Camphora Sieb. The tree is largely grown in China, Japan, Taiwan and Australia. The crude oil is made of at least 50% camphor in it, which can be separated from the oil by cooling and centrifugation.

Camphora is a pest xenophyte tree species now grown in northern NSW region. Camphor tree radiates chemicals from its roots into the soil that helps in killing worms as well as other bio-organisms. The leaves of Camphora can kill aquatic organisms near leaf-drop regions. A camphor tree has a shelf life of more than 1200 years.

While obtaining camphor crude oil, you also get a solid material, which is a partly crystalline mass of crude camphor. The crude camphor is separated from the oil by using the method of filterpressing. Thus the oil separated using this method is crude camphor oil. This crude oil separated using filterpressing is again fractionally distilled under vacuum to separate another 50% of crude camphor from the oil. The remaining oil thus obtained is free of camphor now.

Basically fractionation of the crude camphor oil (filterpressed and camphor-free) gives two oils:

1.White Camphor Oil:

Constituting 20% of crude camphor odorless liquid with odor similar to cineole. It is the only fraction of camphor oil that is non-toxic and can be used in aroma therapy and other uses. The tree has a shelf life of more than 1200 years.

2.Brown Camphor Oil:

This has a boiling point which is slightly higher than the boiling point of white camphor oil. It is a pale yellow to brown color liquid with odor similar as that of sassafras oil.

This contains nearly 80% safrole and therefore it is used as a raw material for making piperonal via isosafrole. that contains high amount of safrole can also be extracted by using steam distillation method of the wood of tree Cinnamonum parthenoxylon Nees. Brown camphor oil amounts for 6-7% of the total oil. It is produced in large amounts in Formosa and Japan.

That is of much of interest to perfumers. Redistilled brown obtained from the oil us used in making soaps because of its magnificent masking effect. The high content of safrole can be isolated and used as the main starting material for making vanillin, heliotropine and other perfume materials. The remaining oil thus obtained is free of camphor now.

Risks and Rewards for Derma Fillers

If you are worried about the skin on your face making you look older, then you may be able to take steps to smooth your skin and make yourself look younger. One of the procedures that you may be interested in is having Derma Filler injections to try to smooth out your wrinkles. There are a number of different types of injections which you can have, including Perlane and Juvederm Ultra XC. None of the types of injections is perfectly risk free, but all of the injections available offer some wonderful rewards for those who choose to try them.

The risks

The average cost of Derma Filler injections in the USA is around $950 dollars. Depending on which areas need to be filled, the prices can be much higher or much lower than this. Because most health insurance companies see these injections as cosmetic procedures, they will not normally cover the process with insurance funds, and therefore more candidates will have to self-fund their injections.

In terms of health, there are no major risks associated with having Derma Filler injections, although side effects will always depend on the individual, as with all medication. Many people report mild discomfort such as a stinging feeling or a tingling feeling whilst the injections are actually taking place, but these feelings usually disappear shortly after the injections have finished. Many experts will numb the area with a weak anaesthetic before the procedure, so that this discomfort doesn’t cause problems. Some other users do experience headaches for a short period afterwards, if they have had injections around the forehead area, however these headaches can be easily treated with standard pain medication from any drugs store. Some people will also experience swelling, redness or bruising around the area for a few days after the injections, whether they choose Juvederm, or any other type of legal injection. This will disappear within a few days.

The Rewards

Having Juvederm Ultra XC injections, or any other recommended type of Derma Filla injections can be a very rewarding experience. These products are suitable for injection into almost any area of the face where there are fine/deep lines or wrinkles, including the forehead, the creases around the eyes, the areas around the nose, and the corners of the mouth. Injections can help to temporarily smooth out these fine lines and wrinkles, and will leave your skin looking firmer and healthier. Injections also reduce the impact of further facial movement, which is one of the leading causes of frown lines and other lines that typically appear on the face as we age. Although the effects are temporary, they offer some of the longest lasting skin smoothing effects in the world of beauty, and injection treatments can be had more than once. As well as helping to smooth out deep lines and wrinkles, both Perlane and Juvederm are suitable for use as lip augmentation injections, which can help you to get fuller, more seductive looking lips, which are less susceptible to lipstick bleeding.

Hemorrhagic Ovarian Cysts – What Exactly Are They?

If you’ve done any research at all about cysts in the ovaries, you’ve undoubtedly learned that functional cysts are by far the most common. These cysts occur as a natural process of the menstruation process and, although sometimes annoying and painful, they’re relatively harmless and oftentimes will resolve on their own without medical intervention. Functional cysts are then broken down into several different categories, and hemorrhagic ovarian cysts fall into the category of a functional type cyst.

Hemorrhagic ovarian cysts are often referred to as “blood” cysts. They get this name from the fact that they occur when a blood vessel in the lining surrounding the cyst breaks and blood actually goes into the cyst.

If this type of cysts develops, is there a reason to be alarmed? Probably not. For the most part, hemorrhagic ovarian cysts will just resolve on their own, just like other functional cysts. You may not even realize you have one. This may not be the case for everyone, however, and some may experience a sharp pain in their side that usually occurs right before the onset of your period. The most common treatment by a doctor for hemorrhagic ovarian cysts is a prescription of birth control pills, which may not be the greatest of choices for all women.

If you do experience symptoms that sometimes accompany hemorrhagic ovarian cysts, there’s a very good chance that over-the-counter pain relievers will do the trick. However, there have been a small percentage of these cases where the cysts rupture and medical intervention may be necessary, possibly even surgical removal. Don’t worry, hemorrhagic ovarian cysts that rupture is a very rare and it’s unlikely it will be something you’ll ever have to deal with.

The unfortunate truth is that conventional methods used for treating hemorrhagic ovarian cysts, as well as all types of cysts, may give temporary relief of the current symptoms you may be experiencing, but they do not address the root of the condition, and if you’re prone to get cysts, there’s a very high probability that you’ll experience a recurrence of the condition. The absolute best way to address cysts as a whole, as well as hemorrhagic ovarian cysts, is to implement life-style changes to address the root cause of your condition. This approach will not only resolve your recurring cysts, but will contribute to an overall improved state of health.

The simple fact is that due to the harsh side effects of prescription meds and even sometimes painful surgeries, more and more women are opting for natural treatments to address their condition. Many, many women have seen some pretty outstanding results from these type of treatment plans.

Obesity and Yeast Infections – What’s the Connection

As if the overweight men and women of the world didn’t have enough to worry about, but yes, obesity is one of the risk factors of chronic yeast infections.

There are two reasons why overweight women get more vaginal yeast infections, and why both men and women who weigh too much can get skin rashes and oral thrush, which are both caused by Candida albicans yeast.

The first reason is purely physical – yeast loves warm, moist areas on the skin, and folds of fat create exactly the right conditions for yeast living on the skin. Yeast can overpopulate areas under the breasts, in the armpit, in the crotch, and in any area that stays damp from perspiration. An absorbent powder used in these areas can help.

The other reason has to do with hormones. As most of us know, obesity is one of the major risk factors for Type II Diabetes. And the risk of diabetes is caused by something that also causes yeast infections – a change in your hormone balance due to increased insulin resistance.

Insulin is a hormone that is used by your body to keep your blood sugar at a safe level. Extra fat cells can make your body resistant to insulin, so your pancreas needs to produce more and more of this hormone to be effective. When the pancreas is no longer able to pump out enough insulin to clear your blood of excess glucose, you are said to have insulin resistance. By this point, you will probably also be diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes.

Since insulin resistance can cause yeast infections, many women are first diagnosed with diabetes when they go to their doctor about their chronic vaginal infections.

How can an overweight man or woman reduce their risk of yeast infections? By staying as dry as possible, of course. But the most important thing to do is to improve your health so you reduce your risk of diabetes, which is a far more serious condition than a yeast infection. To do that, you must lose weight, go on a healthy diet, and get regular exercise.

Since insulin resistance can make it difficult to lose weight, it’s important to include exercise in your daily routine. Exercise helps improve your cell’s ability to use insulin. It also helps to prevent heart disease, which often accompanies obesity and diabetes. The exercise will help you lose weight, too.

And, you need to talk to your doctor about a healthy diet that will help prevent or reverse your risk of diabetes. Studies have shown that a good diet, accompanied by regular exercise, are the most effective treatment for insulin resistance.

The Diabetes Prevention Program suggests a low-calorie, low-fat diet. Since yeast loves sugar, you may want to eliminate sugar from your diet, as well. It will help you reduce the daily calories you consume, help you lose weight, and reduce your risk for those aggravating yeast infections.

Your first step if you’re overweight and suffering from chronic yeast infections? Talk to your doctor, get checked for diabetes, and take your doctor’s advice! It could save your life.
