Framing Your Presentation So an Audience Knows What to Expect

Imagine how disappointed someone would be after seeing a movie that was a drama, when they went it thinking they were going to see a comedy.

Public speakers run a risk of creating a similar scenario. That’s why framing your presentation is important in keeping an audience happy.

Framing your presentation involves sharing at the beginning of comments both what a speaker will and will not be discussing. Sharing with an audience what they can expect involves:

· A review of the information that you plan to share with them

· Sharing how the information that you plan to share can help them

· Why your topic is important to current events and how they can apply what you share to better themselves, weather a crisis or overcome other situations

· How your presentation is instrumental in refuting false information or misunderstanding about a situation.

Once these areas have been identified, a speaker should continue by sharing how he will address each of those concerns. Much like a written outline to assist a reader in understanding what to expect, a speaker can also point to the gist of his comments by verbally outlining his presentation.

A speaker should also share how long he plans to speak, along with whether he plans to take questions either during or after his presentation. This allows audience members to formulate questions if they need clarification about anything that a speaker has discussed.

And speakers who do not plan to take questions for whatever reason should inform audience members so they will not be disappointed.

But what’s involved in framing your presentation when it comes to what won’t be shared? The considerations here may include:

· Sharing not only what you will not be discussing, but also why that aspect of a topic will not be addressed – time limitations, the situation is one others have spoken about extensively, an issue is libelous, etc.

· Telling audience members how they can obtain information about an aspect of a topic that you do not plan to address

Framing your presentation also involves sharing how additional information can be obtained about a topic so that those who desire can have a deeper understanding of the information shared.

A speaker also needs to know that framing your presentation requires his own adherence to certain rules as he is preparing his comments. This involves having an introduction that leads to the point of a speaker’s comments, followed by a summary in which all lose ends are tied up.

Teen Anxiety and Puberty Blues – A Parents Nightmare

Has Your Teenager Stopped Listening to You?

Teen anxiety is often the signal that puberty has begun. Has your adorable little daughter or roguish young boy grown-up some and stopped listening to you? Are they becoming defiant? Have they started answering back? Are they refusing to do what you tell them and begun displaying sudden outbursts of anger when they don’t get their way?

“Don’t blame the kid, these are just the normal changes they all go through when they’re approaching puberty.” Many of the other parents will tell you, and most of the time they will be right… because when children begin their journey towards puberty, their developing bodies start producing hormones -testosterone in boys, estrogen and progesterone in girls- and it’s these hormones usually causing the physical and emotional changes in children that parents find difficult to cope with.

Your Interest and Understanding Can Often Produce Miraculous Results..

Children don’t consciously understand what is happening to them as they make the transition into their teen years, so it doesn’t help to blame them or impose tighter demands on them in an attempt to curb their rebelliousness.

Instead, by understanding what they are going through and spending more time with them, discussing their interests (music they’re listening to, how their friends are doing, sports with boys, fashion with girls, and if appropriate, sharing some of your own childhood experiences when you were their age) will often produce miraculous results.

But… if you find your interest shunned and your child’s behaviour becoming more extreme, even over the top and disturbing to the point where you’re concerned they might do something reckless, something they may regret, then it’s time to take a closer look and see if their behaviour matches any of the troubling anxiety symptoms children display when they have an anxiety disorder.

Is Your Teen Displaying Anxiety and Panic Attack Symptoms?

Unfortunately anxiety and panic attacks are far more common in teenagers than most people realise, and because teens usually find it difficult to communicate their deeper feeling, it’s not uncommon for parents to put their unsettling behaviour down to puberty and school and peer pressures, completely overlooking the fact that their child is suffering from an anxiety/panic disorder.

If anxiety symptoms in children are overlooked and children move through their teens untreated, their anxiety driven fear will not only continue to gain strength, but often escalate to the point where their behaviour gets so out of hand they turn to alcohol and drugs, and then, continue on into their adult lives carrying these addictions, along with their anxiety, with them.

Puberty Blues” is Often a Rocky Road for Parents

It’s rare to find a parent who doesn’t love their child and only want the best for them, but when traversing the trials and tribulations of puberty with their teens, parents often find they need help. If you are a loving parent going through a rough patch, and you’re concerned you teenager might be displaying anxiety symptoms, feel free to visit

What Is a Thai Head Massage?

A Thai Head Massage is a massage of the head, neck and upper body. It will help to release all the tension and toxins that have accumulated in the muscles, tissues, joints of the head, shoulders, neck and face. The therapist uses a variety of different movements including deep kneading and compression techniques over the head, neck and shoulder blades areas. It also involves massage work on the energy lines and stimulating the pressure points that are located around the head. The massage is completed with a soothing shoulder, neck and upper back massage to break down any remaining stress or tension and release toxins.

Thai Head Massage is a perfect stress-busting treatment for anybody suffering from tension headache, aching shoulders, eye strain, a stiff neck, insomnia, poor concentration or difficulty sleeping. It is a completely safe and simple yet effective form of massage therapy renowned for its stress relieving qualities. The treatment can be given fully clothed and without a treatment table also. It is both versatile and non-invasive so perfect for all the family, even pregnant mums and the elderly.

Along with the traditional Thai massage techniques used the Thai Head Massage borrows many techniques from the ancient Indian head massage. In addition to our physical anatomy there is another normally unseen “subtle” anatomy, the Chakra. The energy vortex or “Chakra” as it is also known as corresponds to the different glands that relate to specific parts of the physical body and also to areas of spiritual and psychological development. Stimulating these energy centres and pathways to perform at their optimum efficiency provide a highly effective way to prevent ill health and promote a greater sense a well being. The balancing of this “Chakra” is essential to maintaining our health and vitality.

What are the benefits of a Thai Head Massage?

  • Antidote to anxiety, stress and mental tension
  • Clears the mind and revitalises mental capacity
  • General “balancing”, giving a sense of calm and peace
  • Works on balancing the Chakras
  • Calming the respiratory system
  • Improves circulation of blood to the head and neck
  • Enhances nourishment to the muscles which helps promote hair growth
  • Improving alertness productivity and concentration
  • Improves lymphatic drainage from the head and neck
  • Improves muscle tone and head and neck mobility
  • Relieves mental and physical stress
  • Relieves eyestrain, sinusitis and congestion
  • Treats headaches, migraines and insomnia

Another benefit of Thai Head Massage is that can perform it on your own head anywhere and anytime. You can try it at home or at your place of work or study to quickly reduce and eliminate any tension, stress or headaches you may have, cause by any anxieties or worries you may be experiencing. You can try this with just a few simple techniques such as squeezing and releasing the trapeziod muscles on your shoulders on both sides side of your neck. Apply palm pressure to your neck muscles in a gentle squeezing motion to release any muscle tension and increase blood circulation to the head. Rotate your middle fingers in small circles along the along the to top of your eyebrows from the centre of your forehead to towards the outside of your eyes. Repeat at the sphenoid bone close to the frontozygomatic suture. Finally squeeze the ear between thumb and your index finger and apply a little pressure. Drag the earlobe down slowly and release to stimulate all the energy points and by applying a moderate pressure make downward strokes along the neck to its base at the shoulders. This will stimulate the release of endorphins and quickly start to alleviate any symptoms of stress or tension you may be having.

Confidence From Exercise

Confidence is a feeling or belief that you can do something well or succeed while doing it. Developing one’s confidence will come from a dedicated exercise program.

Anger is better controlled through a steady exercise schedule. Exercise enhances a person’s physical preparedness and emotional outlook while reducing stress. It releases pent-up, nervous energy that would otherwise fester within someone’s psyche. Furthermore, we know that endorphins, chemicals released by the pituitary gland during vigorous exercise, improve one’s overall mood. Regular exercise can also decrease the risk of chronic health conditions such as heart disease and cancer.

As people age they become more stiff–specifically their back. Some type of daily fitness program is very good for your back, especially your lower back. An exercise program that emphasizes cardiovascular strength, flexibility and strength training is an excellent route to the overall improvement of your health. Activities that are least likely to exacerbate chronic lower back pain include biking, hiking and swimming.

Activities with more risk for creating, or adding to back problems are sports such as baseball, football, basketball, bowling and golf.

It is important to breathe properly. Clearly, oxygen is the key to life. How well we perform during exercise depends upon our oxygen intake. Always breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Oxygen absorbed through the nose reaches the blood many times faster than air coming in through the mouth. Breathing this way greatly reduces your recovery time and will have you quickly back in high gear.

Be certain to warm up before you exercise and cool down when you’re finished. Done properly, stretching can prevent injuries like strains, sprains and shin splints. A comprehensive warmup increases the range of motion in joints and increases blood circulation. Having been away from real exercise has allowed your once youth fully limber body to stiffen; please get back on track. Try to hold your stretches-bouncing is not beneficial and may be harmful. Over-stretching can also cause injury. If you’re stretching to the point where you feel pain, stop. Don’t overdo it. Too much too soon can be more harmful than not starting a good program. When feeling pain in you joints or muscles, give yourself a few days to rest until the pain goes away. If the pain continues, or if your legs or feet become cool or pale see your doctor immediately.

If you don’t have a regular exercise routine, here are some simple suggestions for adding more activity into your daily life: Park the car farther away from your destination than you normally would. This will force you to walk more. Some people say, “I don’t have time to walk more.” You just made more time. Make excuses for why you can accomplish things that are healthy for you; dispense with why you cannot. When possible allot fifteen minutes before or after you eat lunch to go for a quick walk. Exercise with a group. Peer pressure to not quit may spur you onward. Perhaps you need the presence of others to keep you going further and farther. At work, walk the halls briskly or take the stairs to get your blood pumping faster. When the weather is bad, go to the nearest mall and walk briskly. Add some fun to your routine by taking a dance class. It’s a great way to socialize and exercise at the same time. Yes, dancing is sexy–just ask your significant other to go dancing. When the person passes out from the shock that you asked be prepared to administer fast mouth-to-mouth resuscitation; consider it a sneaky way to get that long overdue kiss.

Remember exercise needs to feel a little bit like work for it to work for you. You can challenge yourself by performing your regular exercise more quickly than usual or doubling the amount of time you usually devote to it. You can also add weight training to your routine. Lifting lead is more difficult than lifting your next hearty harmful of sweets, but the end game will make the mirror your new best friend.

A 2002 study by The National Academy of Health showed teens who did not exercise were five times more likely to engage in overuse of alcohol, drugs and crime than those who were committed to a regular schedule of exercise. It comes naturally to send kids outside to play during the warmer months. In the winter, you have to make more of a conscious effort to find healthy physical activity for them. Go skating. Take a winter hike or just a nice long walk. The cold fresh air will invigorate everybody and make sleep easier too. I.E. Get them away from those mindless, meaningless videos games!

Consider making exercise something that your entire family can do together. Once you begin you will realize that you feel better and feel better about yourself. Make a commitment that for the next few months, you are going to exercise on specific days every week. As your once confused mind becomes clearer you will not want to break this newly earned healthy habit.

The Top Rated Eye Cream Contains Haloxyl and Eyeliss

What do you get when you buy the top rated eye cream?  That’s hard to say.  Hundreds of different reviewers publish their opinions about this product or that.  Who knows what their motives are.

It’s possible that the reviewer is attempting to provide honest information to the general public.  It’s just that the information they provide is quite limited.  They are rarely clear about the factors they use to judge these products.  To most people, safety and effectiveness are the two most important factors.  Here’s how to judge safety and effectiveness on your own.

If a product is safe, then it does not contain known allergens, toxins or irritants.  That means it must be free of artificial preservatives, petrochemicals and added fragrances.  These issues are particularly important for products to be used around the eyes.

The skin beneath the eyes is particularly delicate.  It’s just a little thinner.  That’s one of the reasons that people see dark circles.  Tiny blood vessels can be seen through the thin layers of skin.

If it is truly the top rated eye cream in terms of effectiveness, it will contain ingredients that improve the skin’s thickness and support blood vessel strength.  When the blood vessels leak, really dark circles become visible.  It looks like a bruise, because that is ultimately what it is.

Good companies, many of which are in Europe, have spent years and lots of money evaluating various compounds for safety and effectiveness.  There are some secret ingredients that, until recently, were only available to celebrities, because they were so expensive.

HALOXYL and EYELISS are two of those secret ingredients.  The effectiveness of those compounds has been evaluated in a number of different clinical trials.  They have been shown to reduce bags and puffiness, improve thickness and reduce dark circles, support blood vessel strength and fade wrinkles.

Those two ingredients alone could qualify a product for the title of top rated eye cream.  But, some companies have gone just a little farther by including other nourishing compounds that are known to support cellular rejuvenation.

The antioxidant coenzyme Q10, for example, is one of the ingredients that have been evaluated on numerous occasions.  By repairing molecular damage that may have occurred throughout a person’s life, coenzyme Q10 repairs sun damage, reverses wrinkles and improves the skin’s moisture content.

In order to earn the title of top rated eye cream, the inclusion of coenzyme Q10, HALOXYL and EYELISS should be requirements.  The exclusion of allergens, toxins and irritants should be required, as well.

The bottom line is this.  Don’t take a reviewer’s recommendation until you do a little research on your own.  Find out what ingredients the manufacturer uses.  Read the warning labels.  If you are supposed to avoid contact with your eyes, application is going to be extremely difficult.

Most of these products contain waxes when they should be more gel-like.  If you are unhappy with something that’s supposed to be the top rated eye cream, return it.  Finally, don’t buy from any company that does not guarantee your satisfaction. Please click on the link for further information.

How to Treat an Ovarian Cyst Naturally

There are some problems that develop within the female body that cannot be avoided and one of these problems are known as ovarian cysts. Ovarian cysts can be tiny or big, and they are fluid-filled sacs that develop on the ovaries. They sound harmless, and they typically are; but the only problem that most women have with them is the pain.

This type of pain cannot be described into words. It can bring a woman to tears and make her life difficult. There is no easy escape from this pain as painkillers are unable to do anything for women. Women with cysts on their ovaries cannot function at 100% because the pain crumples them. Women cannot sit still, or even sleep with this pain in their bodies. If this sounds like your life, then you know how badly you need some help.

Surgery is an option that a lot of women will consider. You have thought about getting surgery done in order to get relief but you know that you cannot afford it. You don’t have the money for a doctor to go in you with a laser and cut that cyst off of your ovary. You don’t have the ability to take that time off from work to get the procedure done, even though it is what you want most in this world.

Luckily, for women in your position there is still help. You can treat an ovarian cyst naturally using ingredients and methods that you would find around your home. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get the relief that you are dying to have. If you want this cyst to be gone once and for all, then here are some solutions for you.

Make the most out of your tub and fill it with Epsom salts and take a nice, piping hot bath. Epsom salt works to soothe tense muscles, and it can also go deeper and help out your organs. You may notice a difference in your looseness of your body after taking a bath with these salts. Not only can you benefit from the salt, but also from the heat. The heat works to promote fresh blood flow to your cyst, so these powerful white blood cells can work to break down the cyst, and remove it from your body. You may never have thought that your own blood could help to destroy your cyst, but it absolutely can.

Another way to treat an ovarian cyst naturally is with ice. After you are done your hot bath, wait a while and then use some ice. This will help to freeze up the cyst after the hot blood flow went it and tried to kill it. Using this combination can create a deadly end for your cyst and finally bring you some well-needed relief.

What is a Sinus Tract? – An Insight of the Sinus Tract

A sinus tract is an asymmetrical type of passageway that leads from within the bones to the surface of the skin. This channel is also called a fistula. It can also be said as a drainage pathway from a deep focus of acute infection through tissue and/or bone to an opening on the surface.

A contagion or a decompression of a synovial joint in rheumatoid arthritis or common fistulous rheumatism can also lead to a formation of Sinus tracts.

When a profound disease develops, the body restrains the disease, stopping it from contaminating the bloodstream. Pus develops in the area that is weak. As it continues to develop, a slender channel is formed in the weak spot. In time, the channel reaches the surface of the skin, where it bursts. When the pus burst the pressure is also relieved thus the patient feels less pain and may not have any fever Sometimes we see that an infection develops in a long bone and it worsens, over months. Ultimately the infection gets to the skin, forming a sinus.

A sinus tract is a small uncharacteristic channel in the body. A tract usually goes from the cause of infection to the skin’s surface. A sinus can be developed after an abscess is cleared (by itself or by medical treatment), then one of more of the small openings (tracts) connect the cavity to the skin surface. But in some cases some people can develop a pilonidal sinus without ever having a pilonidal abscess.

Occasionally draining cutaneous sinus tracts in the area of the face and neck may be caused by chronic dental infection. Intraoral sinus tracts owing to dental infections are quite widespread. Nasal dermoid sinus cysts are very widespread congenital midline nasofrontal masses, but on clinical inspection they are very easily misinterpreted to be sinusitis. Sinus tracts are best demonstrated on MR imaging. Small tracts, however, may be difficult to find. T1 weighted images with intravenous gadolinium may be more sensitive in finding smaller abscesses and sinus tracts.

Severe Rib Pain Causes – What is Osteochondritis Dissecans?

Not all ribcage pain is caused by cracked or fractured ribs. Some are caused by a disorder called osteochondritis dissecans. This is not only an affliction of the ribs, but it can certainly cause severe rib pain. It is not commonly found in smaller joints such as the fingers and toes. It is commonly found in those who are very active such as athletes.

What Causes Osteochondritis Dissecans?

This is a condition that strikes those who are quite active, meaning you don’t get it from long term joint or bone deterioration. Osteochondritis dissecans is caused by force or injury to the end of the bone. When it happens to a rib the rib, it occurs where the rib attaches to the spine or sternum. Generally speaking, it doesn’t often occur because of a single incident: it is more likely to occur after repeated blows to the same area.

Osteochondritis dissecans can be caused by repetitive motion and overuse – in other words, performing the same task or doing the same motion over and over. Think of an NFL quarterback constantly throwing passes. This is the type of action that can cause this affliction. Also, imagine the same quarterback taking tackles over the period of a season to the same area of the rib cage. This is a perfect combination of action to trigger osteochondritis dissecans.

Symptoms of Osteochondritis Dissecans

One of the best indicators of osteochondritis dissecans is tenderness in the rib area. This is going to be at the end of the bone.

When you do a physical activity which causes some pain or discomfort, it can be another indication of this disorder. Even pain when breathing may be a symptom. You may notice that the site of the pain becoming swollen and tender to the touch.

Treating Osteochondritis Dissecans

The main thing to remember is that if you have any of the signs or symptoms or participate in any of the activities that can make you prone to osteochondritis dissecans, you should seek a medical evaluation immediately. When it is not treated, the long term effects can be debilitating. Quick treatment can mean a lessening of the symptoms and a return to some normalcy of the joints. This can also help to lessen the intense pain that is associated with this condition.

The best medicine for this injury is simply to rest the body and to avoid sports or anything that can aggravate it. It is also a good idea to stay as immobile as possible. This can be difficult when it affects the ribs, since nearly everything any motion or movement you make is going to aggravate them. Just sleeping and rolling over can wake you out of a deep sleep. Normal breathing can be painful, but strenuous activities can make it even more painful.

When the pain is too intense, your doctor can prescribe pain killers. Some physicians may want to do surgery to repair as much of the affected area as possible in extreme cases. The important thing it to get medical attention as soon as the pain begins to get a proper diagnosis.

Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura – Can Homeopathy Help Cure ITP?

I believe that Homeopathy can be very beneficial in treating ITP disorder and should definitely be considered as an effective way to balance the immune system and promote healing.

Homeopathy, the world’s second most widely used system of medicine, is all natural, holistic, extremely effective, completely safe, has no dangerous side effects, works in harmony with your immune system and is not addictive.

In the last decade, Homeopathy has grown in popularity in the United States at about strong clip of about 35% percent a year. For a while, it had fallen back in popularity with the advent of “modern medicine” and the rampant use of harmful drugs as the answer and cure all for whatever sickness that you might have had, but now that more and more people are becoming increasingly alarmed about the harmful long term effects of modern medicines, they are returning in droves to more safe and natural and very effective alternatives to healing.

Exactly what is Homeopathy? It is a natural system of medicine based on the Law of Similarity. This practice has been effectively in use for the last 200 hundred years by homeopathic doctors of medicine. It is based on the premise that “Like cures Like”. This principle was developed by Samuel Hahnemann 200 years ago into a real system of medicine utilizing a remedy that is in an extremely diluted form. (Normally one part remedy to about 1,000,000,000,000 parts of water). It’s hard to comprehend that such a small dosage can have such a big impact, but it does and this amazing process has been used successfully ever since and is now gaining more and more ground and credibility as a safe and effective method of healing.

For example: take Syrup Of Ipecac, which is used to induce vomiting if someone has ingested certain poisons. Ipecac is made from the root of a South American plant called Ipecacuanha. In the South American native tongue it actually means “the plant by the road which makes you throw up”. When groups of healthy volunteers take this substance it causes extreme nausea, gagging and vomiting that could not be cured by just throwing up. But when this substance is diluted to a minuscule dose it actually works in the reverse and alleviates nausea and as a homeopathic remedy is prescribed for extreme gagging coughing after a bad cold or morning sickness with incessant nausea that is not relieved by vomiting.

This is the best example of how I can explain how a homeopathic remedy works. These remedies are prepared by a homeopathic pharmacy in accordance with FDA approval guidelines and are extremely safe.

Homeopathic remedies use similar principals as conventional allergy treatments and in vaccination programs, whereby the allergic substance or the virus is administered in a very small dose to boost the immune system against the particular problem.

The main obstacle to using Homeopathy effectively have been the difficulty in effectively prescribing the correct remedy and the enormous volume of remedies in which to choose the correct prescription.

But now there is finally new technology called the Bio-tracker that has found a way to cut through the guesswork of diagnosing what particular remedy to use.

I strongly believe that Homeopathy will be one of the main methods of treating ITP in the future and that the Bio-tracker technology will now put Homeopathy in the forefront of safe medical treatments for ITP disease.

Ending Eight Years of Insomnia With Emotional Freedom Techniques

Sometimes a single traumatic event can wreak havoc on the sleep system, even years after the trauma has passed. This was certainly the case with “Danielle,” who had not slept well ever since her husband had died eight years ago. Most nights it took her hours to fall asleep, often not falling asleep until after 2:00 a.m. Other nights she would fall asleep quicker, but then wake around 3:00 a.m. unable to return to sleep.

In situations like this, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT or “Tapping”) can work wonders. EFT is a powerful healing technique using the Mind-Body connection. It combines the ancient art of acupressure with modern psychology. The combination of gently tapping on meridian points while tuning into stressful events from the past, signals to the stress center of the brain to neutralize the charge around the events focused on. For insomniacs, this can often mean smoothing out the kinks in the nervous system so that good sleep can happen again – even if it has been years since good sleep has occurred.

In Danielle’s case, five EFT sessions did the trick.

In our first session we focused on neutralizing the present events that were keeping her head spinning in all directions while she lay awake at night. At the end of our session she reported feeling much lighter, and had a few nights of great sleep before her insomnia returned.

In our second session, we went back to the night her husband had died. She and her husband had been on a cruise and he had died in bed of a heart attack. We moved through the feelings of panic and helplessness as she remembered how she felt when she first realized what was happening. She had been unable to even stay on the phone long enough to get the help she needed because she didn’t want to leave her husband’s side as she was giving him CPR. Finally, in desperation, she stepped outside of her room on the ship and simply screamed for help. Remarkably a neighboring passenger was a nurse and came to offer her services. Within minutes the ship’s doctors were there and Danielle’s panic subsided somewhat, but she remembers feeling distant from the scene and not fully in her body. We tapped and tapped until both feelings of panic and helplessness were down to 0.

Then she fully felt the deep sadness of losing her husband and the guilt of not being able to save him. We tapped on these feelings until they were neutralized, and she felt a great sense of relief.

It was a big moment when she said, “Even though I can’t save him, I deeply and completely accept myself. I forgive myself for not being able to save him because it is done. I did everything I could and there is nothing else I can do.” She reported sleeping great for the next several nights.

In our remaining sessions, we tied up loose ends. We tapped down the guilt she felt at “not being as good of a wife as she could have been,” “not being as good of a mother as she could have been,” and she did some deep forgiveness work for herself and others.

In her last session she said her sleep patterns had improved so much that even when something had upset her during the day, she simply told herself not to worry about it or lose sleep at night – and she didn’t! She slept great! Last I spoke with her she has continued to sleep really well. What a relief after eight years!

International Women’s Day – Women’s Health Issues

The International Woman’s Day theme for 2016 is “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”. Women have come a long way. Their role in the society is not limited to reproduction and an aid to men. Today she stands on equal footing as men. She does everything that only men did, up until a few decades ago. She serves in the military; she runs businesses, leads nations, runs space missions, makes families and fights the fair fights of the society. Among all this she hasn’t given up on the institution of marriage and family. She is still a mother first and a woman.

It’s not easy for a woman to make it in this male dominated world. Not all nations of the world consider their women citizens to be equal to their male citizens. In some war trodden countries, the situation of women is abominable. She is traded as a physical quantity and treated worse than animals. In the more developed and free thinking world, she has to face gender inequality, unequal pay issues, and biased medical issues.

Many countries do not give importance to many health issues faced by women. No gender specific health care criterion is available to them. Mental health and reproductive health of women are some such issues which have long awaited significant development. Today we divert our attention towards a handful of such issues.

Cancer – Cancer affects women more than any other form of diseases, with two of the most common ones being breast and cervical cancers. It is said that each year around half a million women die from cervical cancer and half a million from breast cancer. Most women still do not know about the mammograms and pap tests, when and how to take them. Breast and cervical cancer awareness is important in today’s time and day.

Mental Health – Women are more likely to face depression and anxiety at some point of their life than men, due to biological differences. While depression is the most common mental health problem for women, suicide is a leading cause of death. Abuse and neglect are often factors in women’s mental health problems. Treatments need to be sensitive to and reflect gender differences.

Heart Disease – Heart diseases are a leading cause of death. Important differences in the approaches to treatment and prevention of heart disease between women and men have lead to the increase in death numbers. We should be made more aware of the heart healthy choices they can make and the kind of lifestyle they should lead so as to lead a happy, healthy life.

Reproductive and Maternal Health – Sexual and reproductive health problems are responsible for one third of health issues for females between the ages of 15 and 44 years. It said that unsafe sex is a major risk factor, particularly among females in developing countries. While progress has been made, almost 300, 000 women died from complications in pregnancy and childbirth, and most of these deaths could have been prevented if the women had access to family planning and basic services.

HIV/AIDS – HIV/AIDS is the leading cause of death for ladies aged between 15 to 44-years-old. It said that too many young girls still struggle to protect themselves against sexual transmission of HIV and to get the treatment they require. The stigma attached to STDs is also a major factor for these deaths. It stops them from seeking the required medical help and advice.

These entire problem have one thing in common, they all seek a very different gender specific approach towards handling them. It’s about time gender specific studies and research to start, and we should enjoy equal rights as men.

Political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. With all the efforts dedicated towards us for one day, it is essentially to have resources diverted towards our health.

Eligibility For The Green Card Depends On The Green Card Medical Too!

As a test to measure whether a green card applicant is eligible for the visa or not it is necessary and mandated by the authorities in the United States of America, to go in for what is called the Immigration Medical. This medical can only be conducted by medical professionals who are approved by either the U S consulate or a body called the USCIS – the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Therefore, it is compulsory that only USCIS approved doctors for the green card are contacted and an appointment is fixed up by the applicant for having the Immigration Medical conducted. This particular condition is applicable to both adults as well as children.

An applicant cannot have the exam conducted by his or her family doctor, unless the doctor has been approved by the USCIS, or government body. So it has to be noted that only a USCIS approved doctor for the green card can conduct the physical examination. A certain fee will have to be paid by the applicant to the doctor – the U S government does not control how much has to be paid to the USCIS Civil Surgeon – this has been left to each individual doctor to decide.

The medical examination is conducted to rule out any abnormality or to preclude any possibilities of the applicant posing any danger to public health. It will be made sure that the applicant is not suffering from any dangerous diseases or has an existing condition – either physical or mental, that could imply that permission for granting him or her a visa or permanent residence cannot be given.

Various vaccinations that have been mandated by CDC will be given. Only those vaccinations that have been stipulated to be taken by the U S Immigration authorities will be administered by the Civil Surgeon.

Some diseases or conditions that make a candidate for the green card are gonorrhoea, infectious leprosy, infectious syphilis, granuloma and existing tuberculosis. Other conditions that can cause inadmissibility are certain diseases that require quarantine and diseases that can be a public health emergency and can cause grave danger to society in general.

An illness that will not cause harm to others – like a heart condition, cancer or certain mental illnesses will not make a person inadmissible for a visa. But such a condition might make the person inadmissible due to the fact that social security or medical illness might not be granted – this is called welfare and the person might not receive such assistance.

When You Find a Baby Squirrel – Remember WHAM

If you find a baby squirrel, you only need to remember the acronym W.H.A.M. to function like a pro in providing care!

W.H.A.M. is a four step process to insure that you cover all the bases in providing a systematic approach to insure that a baby squirrel is provided every opportunity to survive.

“W” stands for Warm.

Baby squirrels lose body heat very rapidly, especially during the time when they are born, usually in early March. Ideally, you’d like to have the mother come retrieve it, but it’s tough to leave a nearly naked body lay out in the cold of early March waiting for its mother. I’ve found that a small cardboard box with a cloth rice bag heated in a microwave and tacked to the tree, keeps the baby comfortable and up away from predators while it waits for its mother to find it. If she doesn’t come get it, the box and rice bag make an excellent incubator to house the baby during early care, especially during the first five weeks when its eyes are closed. A baby squirrel should always feel warmer than your hand when you pick it up!

“H” stands for Hydrate.

A baby squirrel can get dehydrated very quickly. Their bodies are so small that it does not take long for them to develop an electrolyte imbalance. If it gets bad enough, it can cause the heart to beat irregularly or even stop. If the baby looks very dry and wrinkled and its skin doesn’t return to its normal flat appearance when you pinch it up, or the baby is very sluggish to respond, even after being warmed, you need to get it re-hydrated!

Many rehabilitators and Veterinarians will tell you to give unflavored Pedialyte electrolyte replacement fluid. This is fine, just warm it and give small amounts with an eye dropper or small syringe. My only question is; where does a mother squirrel get Pedialyte when she picks up her baby and it’s dehydrated? I’ve never lost a dehydrated baby squirrel by going straight to formula. So, you do whatever you want, just get the baby hydrated.

“A” Stands for Accommodate.

If you’ve reached this point in the W.H.A.M. process, you’re going to need to make a decision about the future care of this critter. Are you going to keep it and try to raise and release it? Or, are you going to take it to a rehabilitation facility?

A part of accommodating it is to take a second, closer look at it. You’ve warmed it and hydrated it, now look it over and check for other problems. If it has hair, look closely for vermin. Fleas and lice may be present. I use Hartz kitten flea spray on a cotton ball to kill any bugs and pick them off with tweezers.

Look for any bruising or open wounds. Check its legs for possible fractures. I treat wounds with raw coconut oil. You can wash them with soap and water and apply antibiotic ointment.

Look for any signs of labored breathing. A baby squirrel should not have to use more than chest muscles to breathe. If it is struggling to breathe, and its skin does not appear pink, it may have internal injuries. Look at its abdomen for bruising or discoloration. This can be a sign of internal injuries. If you have any questions, seek out a Veterinarian with experience in exotic pets or wild animals.

A baby squirrel can be accommodated very nicely in a box until its eyes open. Then, you’re going to need a cage. A small cage is fine initially, but a larger cage will be necessary as the baby matures physically. My last cage before release is a large walk-in size in my back yard. It allows my squirrels to acclimate to outside living, while allowing them to observe how other squirrels behave. It also allows them to room to get the exercise and climbing skills they will need when released.

“M” Stands for Maintain.

Maintain simply means to keep doing the things that need done to insure that the squirrel has everything it needs to grow to be a healthy adult squirrel. Keeping it warm and fed when it’s a baby. Allowing it to nurse until it weans itself off of formula, then providing it the right kinds of food and calcium support to prevent metabolic bone disease.

Maintaining a squirrel until it is ready to release is not hard, and it does not have to be expensive, but it does require diligence and desire. My wife and I have a passion for raising healthy and disease resistant squirrels and are always willing to help others do the same! It’s a labor of love for us, and that makes all the difference in the world!
