How to Organize a Children’s Party

Arranging a child’s birthday party can seem like a nightmare, however, it can also be a pleasant experience for all, just try following a few of the tips below.

The first thing to consider is a suitable venue. You can have your party at home or at another venue, a party at home is of course the cheapest, but remember to put your Ming vases and oil paintings away safely first, and try covering any expensive furniture with bed sheets or dust covers. You won’t want to over invite for a house party so, for a small three bed roomed house I would suggest limiting your party to about 15 children. Some people have their parties outside, but you should prepare in such a way as you can continue indoors if the weather turns bad.

If you wish to have a party at another venue, then there are a number of different types of venues available. Leisure Centres, Pubs with a suitable license, Sports and Social Clubs, Community and Church Halls. Of these, as a general rule, church halls are amongst the cheapest. This is because their charitable status and the fact that they have been paid for years ago makes them highly competitive. But do shop around, sports and social clubs are also very cheap but you will normally need to join. If you join as a social member, then you will have to fill out a quick form and pay a small fee.

Remember to make sure there is a kitchen you can use and find out if you need to purchase tokens for the electricity. This is often the case with some of the older halls. Make sure there is a good heating system in place if you are having your party in the winter. Other things to think about are parking and safety – not near a main road which children can run out onto! Also try to avoid a lot of steps and stairs as you will have a lot to load and unload plus you may have someone with a disability or an elderly person arrive with a child.

Children’s parties can be arranged at any reasonable time, most of the weekend parties take place around lunchtime starting at about 12.30 or 1300. If you are having an after school party, bear in mind that some of the children will go home from school to change first before attending a party even though you may plan for an early start straight after school. It is rare to have everyone turn up for an after school party by 16.00 but by 16.30 they will usually have all arrived. Parties booked during the summer holidays are generally less well attended especially if the weather is fine! Of course this doesn’t apply when most of the guests are members of the extended family and close friends.

A well written invitation puts a bit of class into your event and will both improve the response and minimize any misunderstandings. Put the address of the party venue on the invite, and remember the post code for the sat navs, especially if the venue is difficult to find. Your landline number, mobile number and of course e-mail address are of course, essential. Another useful tip is to put RSVP to confirm by…….., and put a date about four or five days before the party, it is important to gauge how many children are going to turn up, but whatever number you arrive at, add about five per cent for unexpected children. Also, if you are employing an entertainer or having a bouncy castle, say so on the invite to make it more attractive.

Decorations make a party, but again there is no need to go overboard, you can get some quite good deals at the pound shops. If you are in the UK, try Poundland and Wilkinson’s.

Some venues will not allow the use of drawing pins, so be sure to take some blue-tack or similar. It is also a good idea to put some balloons outside of the venue to make it easier for people to find. I would avoid party poppers for children’s parties. Standard balloons are always popular, and the big caterpillar ones go down a treat even though they are quite cheap. The flying balloons that buzz through the air are also a big hit. Avoid modeling balloons unless you know what you are doing. Don’t forget to purchase a balloon pump, the Qualatex ones, usually purple in color blow out air both when pushed and pulled and so will significantly reduce your blowing up time.

If you are having a children’s entertainer it is crucial that you choose one whose performance is suitable for the age and gender of your party. Far too much emphasis seems to be played on whether an entertainer is a good or bad performer and not enough on the suitability of his performance for that particular type of party.

For a seven year old boys party – think twice about having in the house unless you know the guests well -I would suggest a snake entertainer or someone who does lots of gory things. For a three year old’s party, a clown. For four to six, either gender, a magician. For older girls a magician who does card tricks and other types of close up magic. If you can get a face painter as well, all the better. When it comes to face painters you will need one who understands that you would prefer everyone receiving a small, quick one, and the birthday child having a full one, than some having a lot and others nothing. Unless it is a small party there is not usually time for everyone to have a full face paint.

There are two good ways to find out about your local children’s entertainers. The first is the internet and the second is the queue of parents outside your local school when they are waiting to collect their children. These parents have nothing to do and a conversation starter of this nature goes down well. The other is the internet, but be advised that website design and entertainment has little in common, a good site means nothing, except that it’s a good site. So just extract the necessary information from it and go with the parents whenever possible.

Always ask about a cancellation policy, you don’t want to lose your deposit over a case of measles or flu. Be aware that some entertainers like to add on extra charges once they are there, for example, for modeling balloons, so make sure the fee being quoted includes everything. Ask if they are VAT registered, if so, is the VAT included in the quotation.

Ask if music is included and if your child has a favorite CD, take it to the party with you. You could also take something relaxing to play whilst you tidy up at the end.

You would not believe how much food is wasted at children’s parties. If you ever wonder why so many children’s entertainers are overweight its because of all the left over sausage rolls and pasties they are given at the end of the parties!

Keep it cheap and simple: jelly, blancmange and ice cream are cheap and easy. Sausage rolls, sausages and oven chips also go down well. Diced cheese and pickles on sticks are popular. Don’t forget tea, coffee with sugar and milk for the adults who stay with their children. Ham or cheese sandwiches and biscuits will go down well here.

Try putting your food on plates covered with Clingfilm, put them out on the tables and remove the film only when you are ready for the children to eat. Another tip is to avoid surgery drinks before the entertainment, give the children a sugar free drink, then after the entertainment give them what they want. Some children react to sugar and your entertainer will have to deal with it!

The most commonly forgotten items are a cake knife and a lighter for the candles.

I hope the above advice will help you have a successful party. It really is very much easier than it sounds.

Ibuprofen Could Prevent Altitude Sickness

A recent study by Stanford University has found that ibuprofen could prevent altitude sickness, a condition that commonly affects skiers, hikers, and tourists to high elevations. Ibuprofen is a common over-the-counter medication available worldwide.

Altitude sickness (also called acute mountain syndrome or AMS) is quite common among people visiting higher altitudes. It’s most common among people going on skiing vacations and hiking up to the tops of mountains. Typical symptoms of altitude sickness are nausea, dizziness, and headaches. It’s often compared to an especially nasty hangover. In especially severe cases, altitude sickness can lead to cerebral edema, a swelling of the brain that can prove fatal.

Researchers aren’t entirely sure what causes the symptoms of altitude sickness. One well-accepted theory is that the thinner air leads to a swelling of the brain. The lower oxygen concentration causes the body to compensate with additional fluids, which fill the brain and cause the symptoms.

As a common over-the-counter anti-inflammatory, ibuprofen is ideal to treat the condition. The study done by Stanford involved 86 people in a double blind test. Some were given 600mg of ibuprofen four times a day, and others were given a placebo (a pill with no active medicines in it) at the same times. The researchers handing out the medications weren’t aware of which participant got which set of pills.

Out of the group of participants taking the placebo, 69% of them developed altitude sickness. This is compared to 43% of the participants taking ibuprofen who got sick. These results are comparable to existing prescription medications such as acetazolamide and dexamethasone, both of which can result in side effects such as nausea, fatigue, elevated blood sugar, and disturbed sleep.

Research is still in its early stage when it comes to ibuprofen and altitude sickness. A major concern is that the drug doesn’t treat the root cause of the problem, which could lead to a false sense of security. Without the typical warning signs of the symptoms, it would be easy to fall prey to cerebral edema without warning.

Likewise, there are the well-known side effects of ibuprofen. Most commonly, the medication causes stomach problems. In extended use, there is also an increased risk of high blood pressure and heart disease.

In the short term, ibuprofen can be used to treat acute symptoms of altitude sickness. But nothing beats a well-planned ascent with regular stops to allow the body to adjust to the new conditions of a higher altitude. It’s important to be careful with high altitudes and not to use a medication as an excuse for recklessness.

Epilepsy Foundations

Approximately 2% of the US population suffers from epilepsy, one of the widely prevalent neurological disorders in the world. To ensure that these people lead a relatively healthy and comfortable life, a voluntary health organization called The Epilepsy Foundation exists. This organization advises, educates and provides various services to epileptics and their families. The agency is an active member of the International Bureau for Epilepsy and National Health Council.

The Foundation works at the national as well as international levels through franchises and offices. Few examples are Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey, Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan, and Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado. The primary aim is to ensure that patients take part in all activities performed by healthy person. The agency also undertakes research on possible preventive and curative methods for the disorder. It also takes effort to change legislative laws toward enabling epileptics have equal opportunities as other citizens.

The agency conducts various programs that aid in research, improve women's health, and encourage the public to help epileptics. Popular programs are Epilepsy Gene Discovery Project and HOPE (Helping Other People with Epilepsy) Mentoring Program.

Services provided by the Foundation include, counseling, awareness programs, conducting camps for children and teenagers, holding meetings to educate large communities and creating support groups to get closer to people.

The Foundation gets a majority of its funds from philanthropists and lesser amounts from government and private sources.

Top-notch professionals, businessmen, and other elite members of the society form the Board of Directors. The Foundation also has a Professional Advisory Board that comprises experts in epilepsy.

Apart from the US, the Foundation also works in other continents such as Australia through the Epilepsy Foundation of Victoria.

Focus Group Suites – The Place to Have Your Next Off-Site Meeting, Training Session Or Seminar

O.K., you’re going to have an all-day training session, and you need a place to meet. So you call the local hotel and explain that you need a room for the day.

o In the morning you want some coffee, Danish, and fruit. In the afternoon, you’d like sandwiches and cold drinks. And maybe some mid-afternoon munchies as a pick-me-up.

o You need the session audio- and video-taped. And maybe an adjoining room it can be transmitted to, where observers can see and hear the proceedings in real time.

o Then there is the playback equipment necessary for showing your materials.

o And, finally, a host or hostess available throughout the day in case there are any other needs.

Now for the over-and-under pool: How long will it take for paramedics to revive the hotel’s salesperson from a dead faint? Because, as we all know, what I’ve just described has the capacity to send hotel personnel into an advanced state of apoplexy.

But don’t despair. There is a place where personnel will not be fazed by any of these requests; a place where, instead of a promise to “get back to you” after half the hotel staff has been consulted, you’ll get a smile and the words, “No problem.” I’m talking about a focus group suite: the next-generation training room.

As most people know, focus groups are informal panel discussions conducted among some number of people (usually about eight to 10, but it can range much higher). Typical focus group facilities can run three to five such discussions simultaneously. But some are even larger. Importantly, focus group facilities are ideal for training sessions. (Full disclosure time: I am the president and co-owner of National Qualitative Centers (NQC), a focus group facility with eight suites in downtown Chicago.

Let’s see why, by comparing a hotel’s capabilities to those of a focus group suite:

The room: A hotel meeting room is generic space. That is because the hotel never knows what it will be used for. Today, it is your training session, but tomorrow it will have a seafood buffet; the next day is a wedding reception; etc.

By contrast, our focus group suites are dedicated meeting rooms. You need 10 to 12 people sitting at a table? Or maybe a larger room that accommodates 50 to 60 people sitting auditorium-style? That’s what you get. Not because it hurriedly can be cobbled together in some way, but because that’s what it is.

Food and beverages: Ordering hotel food means being restricted only to what the hotel serves. And, oh, those prices!

But a focus group facility has no such restraints. Whatever kind of food you want, from whatever place you prefer, is available-almost always at far lower prices.

To research this article, I called a name-brand hotel within a few blocks of our office and asked how much it would cost to provide food and beverages for 15 people. The prices were staggering. Continental breakfast? $32 a head. Sandwiches and salads for lunch? $43 a head. Soft drinks? $6 a can. Focus group facilities charge about half this amount, and the food will be at least as good, usually better.

My favorite example is coffee. Hotels sell coffee by the gallon. Having checked five different hotels in downtown Chicago, the average price for that gallon of coffee is about $70. Two of the five charge $95 — plus a service fee of about 20 – 22%. That comes to almost $1 an ounce. Is that not unbelievable? Gas, at its highest, cost us a little more than $4 a gallon, but hotel coffee is $95 + 22% more: a total of $116!

Audio and video: The reason these services are so expensive at a hotel is that the equipment is not permanently installed. The A/V person has to figure out how many microphones are needed, put together a mixer and recorder, and then lay a few miles of cable covered by duct tape that, if you’re lucky, you won’t trip on. Plus, if you’re video-taping, the camera operator will be in the room with you as an added distraction.

But in a focus group suite, the audio and video capability is just like the room setup itself-permanently in place. All that’s needed is the flip of a switch. And the equipment? Other than the mikes, it isn’t in the room at all. Not even the camera, which usually operates from a ceiling-mounted location in the adjoining two-way observation room.

Two-way observation: If you’re at a hotel and want your staff, clients, or others to observe the session, you have two choices. You can stuff them in the same room as the training session. Or you can rent an adjoining meeting room and set up closed-circuit transmission there, by renting an additional monitor that connects to the training room with a few more miles of cable and duct tape. The cost? Slightly less than a king’s ransom.

But all of our focus group suites have an adjoining observation room with a two-way mirror and sound system. Observers sit in comfort, seeing and hearing the proceedings, while being non-existent to the training session participants. No extra room rental, no extra charge.

And, importantly, every observation room offers Wi-Fi as part of the standard service. (The hotel I contacted wanted $500 to provide Wi-Fi for 10 people.)

Video Conferencing: Try though you might, it is almost guaranteed that you will not be able to find a hotel meeting room with this service. If it exists at the hotel at all, it will be in the business center, not where you’re meeting. And it will cost an arm, a leg and assorted other body parts. By contrast, NQC has the capability of videoconferencing right in your meeting room, and at dramatically lower prices.

Auxiliary services: By this I mean printers, disc-burning capabilities, etc. At a hotel, they are in the business center, which may or may not be anywhere near where you are conducting your session. In a focus group facility, they are close by and easily accessible to you.

Hosting services: No hotel as a matter of course will provide on-call hosting services-i.e., someone in the immediate vicinity who can take care of any needs you have during the session. You can ask for one-but expect to pay through the nose. Focus group facilities offer hosting services throughout your session at no additional charge. At my facility we provide ongoing hosting services for all of our meeting rooms as part of the basic service.

There’s more to say about the benefits of using a focus group suite over a hotel meeting room, but I think I’ve covered the major areas. The next time you have any kind of meeting in downtown Chicago, I urge you to contact www.nqcchicago.com You won’t regret it.

Living With a Stroke

FIRST REACTION TO ILLNESS

A stroke can hit you without any warning and you do not know about it for a couple of days. In my case I had a stroke three days after open heart bypass surgery, and it was only when I was told by my wife what had happened that I was aware of it. When I was asked to raise my right arm it would not move, but after three or four days I could lift it a couple of inches. A couple of days later I was asked again and it went all the way up.

THE START TO RECOVERY

The nurses told me when my health was good enough that I would have to get up and go out and walk in the hallway.

Once they got me up they found out I had no balance and could not even stand up. They got a 5 foot tall walker and I went on it for about 3 minutes and had to be basically dragged around. In about a week I graduated to a solid normal size walker. I asked to go on it whenever I could and my wife or a nurse spent a lot of time going with me to steady my walk so I would not fall.

REHAD TO COMPLETE RECOVERY FROM THE STROKE

The time finally came and despite the fact I was still very weak they felt I was in good enough shape to go to the rehab center hospital to learn how to walk and to maintain my balance. I was told it would take about three months to be in good shape, but I informed them I would be out in four weeks, and be able to get around by the end of the month to which they just laughed.

WORKING TO RECOVER

I started the next day and in the morning I went to Occupation therapy which teaches you how to look after yourself and to improve your coordination. In the afternoon it was physical therapy to learn to balance, walk and to get your muscles stronger. The first couple of days were very hard, and I worked very hard to learn how to do the exercises.

In the Occupational Therapy I was eventually able to do the coordination exercise puzzles better than the instructing physiotherapist. At the end of three weeks she told me I had finished the program successfully, but , that I had to continue to do them for several months.

In the physiotherapy department I was finding it hard so I worked even harder to get the exercises done. I had to balance on a ball shaped device between two bars. I took my hands off the two rail bars as much as I could but not fall. On the specialized biycyle I would go longer than asked and also I would pedal faster than the nurse asked me to do. She told me not to overdo it. After about 2weeks they came and told me I did not need to have a nurse or someone else with me when I walked with walker. After that time whenever I was not in the physiotherapy I would go and walk around the hospital. I noticed that I was getting stronger and stronger. I started to work on Jig Saw puzzles and did Sudoku puzzles.

Finally they told me I could go home for the weekend if I wanted. I left on Saturday Morning and was brought back on Sunday evening. The visit went very well with no problems.

GETTING HOME

Monday morning the hospital was shut down to visitors as they had a Nordic Flu epidemic and the next thing I knew my wife was there to take me home as the hospital had called and asked her to come and get me if she thought she could look after me. They did not want me to get the flu. I went home and got around very well and when the hospital called two weeks later to have me readmitted she asked them to let me stay at home and they agreed provided I went there for physio twice a week.

It was exactly four weeks that I was in the rehab hospital just like I said I would be. I will cover in another article about living after the stroke.

Gallbladder Disorders And How To Treat Them Using Natural Remedies

The gallbladder is a 3 to 4 inch-long pear-shaped organ located on the right side of the body, directly under the liver. One of the functions of the liver is to remove poisonous substance from blood so that they can be excreted from the body. The liver excretes all these gathered toxins in a digestive agent called bile. Bile also contains cholesterol, bile salts, lecithin, and other substances. The bile (about one pint of it every day) goes first to the gallbladder, which holds it until food arrives in the small intestine. The gallbladder then releases the bile, which passes through cystic and bile ducts into the small intestine. Ultimately, the toxins are passed out of the body through the feces.

Abnormal concentration of bile acids, cholesterol and phospholipids in the bile can cause the formation of gallstones. The presence of gallstones is known to doctors as cholelithiasis. It has been estimated that 20 million Americans have gallstones, so she is not alone. In fact, one in ten people have gallstones without knowing it. However, if a stone is pushed out of the gallbladder and lodges in the bile duct, this can cause nausea, vomiting, and pain in the upper right abdominal region. These symptoms often arise after the individual has eaten fried or fatty foods.

Gallstones can range from the size of a tiny grain of sand to larger than a pea-sized mass. Seventy five percent of gallstones are cholesterol stones, with the remaining 25 percent being pigment stones. Pigment stones are composed of calcium salts. Although the cause of pigment stones is unknown, factors such as intestinal surgery, cirrhosis of the liver, and blood disorders can increase the rate risk.

The presence of gallstones creates a possibility that cystitis, inflammation of the gallbladder, may develop. This can cause severe pain in the upper right abdomen and / or across the chest, possibly accompanied of fever, nausea, and vomiting. Other symptoms of gallbladder disease include constant pain below the breastbone that shoots into the right or left shoulder and radiates into the back. The pain can last from 30 minutes to several hours. The urine may be tea- or coffee-colored, and there may be shaking, chills, and a yellowish discoloration of the skin and eyes. Gallbladder attacks occur often in the evening and can take place sporadically. Abdominal pain that occurs on a daily basis may be a problem unrelated to the gallbladder. A gallbladder attack may mimic a heart attack, with severe pain in the chest area.

Inflammation of the gallbladder requires immediate treatment. If left untreated, it can be life threatening.

I recommend

Alfalfa cleanses the liver and supplies necessary vitamins and minerals. Twice a day for two days, take 1,000 milligrams in tablet or capsule form with a glass of warm water.

Peppermint capsules are used in Europe to cleanse the gallbladder.

If you have gallstones, or are prone to developing them, turmeric can reduce your risk of further problems.

Other beneficial herbs include barberry root bark, catnip, cramp bark, dandelion, fennel, ginger root, horsetail, parsley and wild yam. DO NOT USE BARBERRY DURING PREGNANCY.

If you have an attack, drink 1 tablespoon of apple cider in a glass of apple juice. This should relieve the pain quickly. If the pain does not subside, go to the emergency room to rule out other disorders such as gastroesophogeal reflux disease or heart problems.

For inflammation of the gallbladder, eat no solid food for a few days. Consume only distilled or spring water. Then drink juices such as pear, beet, and apple for three days. Then add solid foods: shredded raw beets with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, fresh lemon juice, freshly made uncooked applesauce made in a blender or food processor. Apple juice aids in softening gallstones.

For gallstones, take 3 tablespoons of olive oil with the juice of a lemon before bed and upon awakening. Stones are often passed and eliminated in the stool with this technique.

Eat a diet that contains 75 percent raw foods. Include in the diet applesauce, eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, broiled fish, fresh apples, and beets.

To cleanse the system drink as much apple juice as possible for five days. Beet juices also cleanse the liver.

Avoid sugar and products containing sugar. People who consume an excessive amount of sugar are much more likely to form gallstones. Avoid all animal fat and meat, saturated fats, like chocolate, fried foods, soft drinks, spicy foods, and full-fat dairy products.

While you have pain, nausea, fever and or vomiting, try the fasting recommendation and very important to use coffee enemas for a few days.

If gallstones show in x-rays but there is no symptoms, then surgery it is not necessary.

Heath – Mental Illnesses and Physical Diseases You Can Prevent Through Dream Therapy

The meaning of dreams is very important when accurately translated. The unconscious mind that produces your dreams is a doctor. All dreams contain precious messages that protect your mental and physical health. You can prevent all mental illnesses, physical diseases, accidents, and other misfortunes if you follow the guidance given by the unconscious mind in your dreams.

The saintly unconscious mind is your protector. You need protection because you are basically absurd. All mental illnesses and physical diseases are consequences of your absurdity.

You don’t know how to analyze your behavior and understand your psychological system. However, the truth is that everything in your life is a result of your behavior, which is constantly influenced by your wild tendencies.

Study for a while the scientific method of dream interpretation, and you will be able to understand the helpful lessons of your natural doctor; the wise unconscious mind that produces your dreams. This method was discovered by Carl Jung and simplified by me, who continued his research.

Whenever you suffer from a mental or physical illness, the first, basic reason why you are sick is your own absurd attitude in a certain matter of your life.

You may believe you are right in all points. You may consider yourself a balanced and normal person. However, this is not true. You are too ignorant, and you have a deficient conscience that must be developed. Besides this fact, you have inherited too much craziness into the biggest part of your brain.

The absurd content (anti-conscience) you have inherited cannot but already prove by itself that you are absurd. You don’t have a healthy brain from birth. You inherit an absurd and deficient brain, which must be developed during your life.

Through dream therapy you have the chance to develop your conscience, becoming always more intelligent. You also have the privilege of being able to protect your health, and avoid suffering.

You must care about your health more than anything else. Even if you are a millionaire, without health you can only feel very sad. Nothing has any meaning when you are dying.

Thanks to Carl Jung’s research, and thanks to my own research, today you can prevent all mental illnesses. When you acquire sound mental health, you have physical health. Your physical health depends on your mental health.

You may believe that people become sick by chance, and that there is no way one can be cured from cancer only by translating his or her dreams. However, you ignore many new scientific discoveries that prove the existence of God, and also the fact that human beings are under-developed primates. You ignore the meaning of life and the meaning of death. You should not believe in your own suppositions.

Nothing happens by chance on our planet. Everything works in a very well-organized manner because your planet is a place of transformation. We must pass through psychotherapy while we are alive, so that we may stop being wild animals, and become real human beings.

There is a God who organizes the functioning of our complex planet and who created its complex nature, with so many different live species, in only approximately 4 billion years, which is the age of our young planet. Nothing had enough time to appear ‘by chance’ on Earth. There is a purpose for the human life.

The same God sends us dreams through the unconscious mind in order to help us transform our evil nature into human nature. All physical diseases try to prevent mental illnesses because when we become mentally ill we are controlled by our absurd anti-conscience, the primitive side of our conscience that didn’t evolve like our human side. This is a very dangerous condition.

If you are sick, this means that your anti-conscience is controlling your behavior. In order to recuperate your physical health, you must solve various problems that are threatening your mental stability.

Once you discover your mistakes through dream translation, and you correct these mistakes doing what is positive for you, you recover your health. This is a common process. Numerous people were cured through dream translation from all types of physical diseases and mental disorders.

However, the truth is that you must be prudent and prevent all mental illnesses before acquiring severe physical diseases. Nothing is easy when we deal with diseases and mental illnesses.

For example, if you have recurring dreams this is a serious indication that you might face serious health problems in the future, or an indication that you will become mentally ill.

I’ve helped numerous people through dream translation. I’ve also learned the dreams of many people who relate them to me, without following dream therapy. I can tell you that whenever someone has recurring dreams, the problems they face a certain day are really unbearable. Besides indicating future mental illnesses or diseases, recurring dreams can also indicate other misfortunes, like being betrayed by someone you trust, or losing someone you love.

For example, dreams about blood coming out from your head indicate a severe mental illness. You will have this dream before losing your mind. The unconscious mind always shows you all dangers beforehand. You still have enough time to save your mental health. Follow dream therapy, and you will manage to eliminate your dangerous anti-conscience before becoming its victim.

Dreams about blood can have a different meaning, like the recurring dream of one of my mother’s friends. She used to see that she was praying in a church and Saint Mary would appear crying before her. Saint Mary’s tears were made of blood, they were not common tears. This friend had this recurring dream for many years, before dying from cancer.

Unfortunately, she refused following dream therapy, even though I tried to help her many times.

In this case, blood represents pain. Saint Mary’s blood tears reflect the saint’s pain. The dreamer couldn’t understand the real meaning of suffering.

Her recurring dream was showing her that she was superficial. She had to understand God’s pain, and the pain of all saints because we, human beings, are evil. The dreamer had to pass through psychotherapy and develop her sensitivity, but she was indifferent to the power of dreams.

Unfortunately, most people neglect the value of dream therapy, and they are not saved, while they could find salvation if they would care about following the unconscious guidance in their dreams.

The first miracle I saw through dream therapy was the cure of a very thin girl who was always sick and had various health problems, besides suffering from depression and from two phobias. She needed a surgical operation because her intestine was not working. However, this operation was miraculously avoided through dream therapy.

Fortunately, this 21-years-old girl was an excellent student; she paid real attention to my lessons, precisely following the unconscious guidance.

She was very intelligent. At least she had this advantage in life. She had so many health problems, and she was so thin that one could only feel sorry for her.

She was completely cured from her depression, from her phobias, and from her intestinal problems through dream therapy in only one year of psychotherapy. Today she is happily married, and a mother of two children.

I saw very clearly from the beginning of my practice that dream therapy works for all cases, without exceptions. However, only those who pay attention to the guidance they receive in their dreams can be saved. If you are indifferent to the unconscious wisdom, there is no way you may find salvation.

You have to participate of your psychotherapy or physical therapy because your own intelligence must be developed. The unconscious mind gives you many clues and explanations, but you have to think about this information, and find the treasure of wisdom by yourself.

You also have to do what your unconscious doctor shows you that you have to, without insisting on your plans, and without being lazy. When you are an obedient student and patient, your cure is guaranteed.

I advise you to be very serious, like those who suffer from serious health problems are, but before acquiring a severe mental illness or an invincible physical disease. Study the meaning of your dreams, and follow the wise guidance of your natural doctor with all your attention.

How To Deal With Headaches Behind The Eyes

Pain behind the eyes may be a symptom of different types of headaches and even other health problems. Most commonly people complain to have an extreme one-sided headache especially involving the area around or behind one eye. This is a typical description of cluster headache. Other symptoms associated with cluster headache are eye redness or tearing, smaller pupil on the affected side of the face and stuffy, runny nose.

Cluster headaches are very severe and last from 25 minutes to a couple of hours. They may recur several times a day for up to 8 weeks and than disappear for a few months or even years.

One of the most effective and safest treatments for cluster headaches is oxygen mask that raises levels of oxygen in the blood and as a result relaxes constricted blood vessels. If that does not help injections of sumatriphan and dihydroergotamine may provide relief from the headache behind the eyes.

Over-the-counter painkillers are not a good alternative for relieving pain as headaches often goes away before the pill starts working.

Both cluster headaches and migraines are considered vascular headaches and are linked to abnormal function of brain’s blood vessels due to hormonal chemical change in the brain. Since those two types of headaches are closely linked together, during migraines, headache may start in the area surrounding one or both eyes.

Migraine headache often begins with visual disturbance called “aura” (a person is seeing zigzag lines or flashing lights or have blurred vision). Later migraine is often accompanied with such symptoms as vomiting, fatigue, nausea, sensitivity to lights and loud sounds.

People suffering from cluster or migraine headaches should avoid use of alcohol and tobacco, certain foods, especially the ones containing nitrates (food coloring, processed meats, preservatives), bright and glaring light, stress and certain medications that lead to hormonal changes (oral contraceptives, estrogens).

Sometimes infection of the frontal sinuses can lead to a dull, throbbing pain between or behind the eyes. It tends to get worse in the mornings and is accompanied with frequent tearing, congestion, runny nose, fever and sensitivity to light. Diving in dirty water, airborne allergies, cold or flu may cause sinus headache.

To eliminate pain behind the eyes, you should reduce inflammation and sinus swelling. Inhaling steam and applying heat over affected area combined with Vitamin C and zinc intake will facilitate the mucus drainage and help to boost immune mechanism to reduce sinus headache.

Other factors that can be the main reason for the headaches behind the eyes are eyestrain and glaucoma. Eyestrain occurs if the eyes are forced to focus on a close object (a newspaper, computer screen) for a long period of time, without focusing periodically at distant objects or due to uncorrected vision problems.

Glaucoma is caused by increased pressure within the eyeball that requires immediate medical attention as it may lead to optic nerve damage and loss of sight. Nowadays glaucoma may be treated by prescription drugs or surgery.

Can Bottle-feeding Cause Ear Infections?

Many mothers have heard the above statement. The answer is yes, bottle-feeding can cause ear infections for your baby. Here are the reasons why and how you can prevent it.

There is also an old-wives-tale that says a baby will get ear infections if the baby is breastfed whilst lying down. This is not true; in fact breastfeeding actually reduces the risk of a baby getting ear infection over that of bottle-feeding.

Ear infection from feeding usually comes about by milk flowing into the baby's ear, where the warmth of the ear combined with the wetness and sugar of the milk provide a perfect breeding ground for germs. This is true for both breast milk and formula milk. However the mother's nipple is wonderfully designed, so that milk will only flow when the baby sucks. Thus, there is less chance of breast milk running down into the child's ear during feeding. Bottle nipples, however, are not so well designed, and it is quite easy for milk to leak out of the nipple even when the child has stopped sucking. This is what makes ear infections more prevalent in formula fed babies rather than those fed on breast milk; it has nothing to do with the milk but everything to do with the mechanics.

Therefore, if you are feeding your baby formula milk you must pay a little more attention to prevent ear infection. First thing to be aware of is that formula milk, unlike breast milk, is a foreign substance and usually contains higher level of sugar; remember warmth, dampness and sugar are what germs thrive on. Also, even when feeding baby in a sitting position, it is still possible for milk to find its way into the baby's ear, so get a look out for this. Most importantly, never leave the bottle in the baby's mouth over long periods of time, allowing the baby to feed itself. This is a practice that is often done by some mothers when putting baby to bed. You're your baby is unsupervised; it is quite easy for milk to enter the ear. This habit, can also lead to something called bottle-feed tooth decay. Finally, it is important to remember that you must be more careful against infection when you bottle-feed. Breast milk is packed full of mother's own antibodies: formula milk has none of these. And, it is these antibodies that help your baby to ward off infection.

Bottle-feeding is not the only thing that can cause ear infection. Other causes are exposure to cigarette smoke, allergies, using a pacifier, being in a day care center and, so being in close proximity to other children who may have ear infections. Like most aspect of responsible parenting, it is just a matter of being aware of the dangers.

A Study on Sensorineural Hearing Loss

In Sensorineural hearing loss the root causative factor traces to the inner ear, or the vestibulocochlear nerve or the auditory centers of the brain by itself. Vestibulocochlear nerve is also called as the acoustic nerve, and it is the eighth Cranial nerve (Of the twelve). This nerve functions in maintaining equilibrium, and carrying sound signals, transmitting these from the inner ear to the auditory cortex in the brain. The vestibuliocochlear nerve, in conjoint function with hair cells transmits sound information to the brain. Hair cells are sensory receptor cells of the auditory system. Any damage to these also causes decreased sensitivity to hearing.

Thus the defect may depend on abnormalities or damage to the cranial nerve, or the hair cells. Hearing impairment is also caused when there is an abnormality in the central auditory system of the brain.

Some of the common causes of sensorieneural hearing loss are exposure to loud sound for a long period. Many people working on machinery exposed to loud sound for a prolonged period often complain of reduced sensitivity to hearing. This condition also occurs in those who listen to music over head phones in high volume. This type of impairment is also believed to be age related (presbycusis) and genetically blamed too. sensorineural hearing loss occurs at times due to viral infections like influenza, mumps, rubella, Herpes simplex, Cytomegalovirus etc.

Those with this defect may present with tinnitus, vertigo, besides less clarity of sound and reduced sensitivity to noises. Babies with congenital deafness present with reduced or failure to respond to sound.

Line of treatment for sensorineural hearing loss features use of hearing aid or cochlear implants. Hearing aid is a small electronic device that is fit into the ear. The device amplifies the sound exposed to and transmits to the ear.

Cochlear implant is a surgical procedure. The implant is placed behind the ear. It receives the sound signal, amplifies it and transmits to directly stimulate the cochlear nerve.

What is Love? – The True Definition of Love

What is love? Are you curious to know what love really is? Do you want to know if your significant other loves you or not? There are many different ways to define love, but there are only a few real ways to love someone. Love is very precious and can not be taken lightly or seriously. It is something that makes us blind, deaf, mute, and many other things. Here is the true definition of what love really is.

Love is an action. When someone says. "I Love You", then turns around and acts like they could care less to be with your or around you, then they do not love you. When someone says that they just stopped loving their significant other it is not a feeling that they lost, but an action they stopped taking part in. Love is by far an action and not just a feeling. Sure there are feelings that go along with it, but love is an action.

Now that we know it is an action we need to go a little further to get to the true meaning of love. Let us start by looking at the very popular 50/50 relationship. This means that each partner is suppose to give 50% to the relationship. This is a bad way to measure any relationship because if all you give is 50%, then you are only giving half of yourself. Love is a 100/100 relationship.

This is a relationship where both partners are willing to give 100% of themselves no matter what. If you truly do love someone, then you should not think about whether you are on the giving end or the taking end, but you should be willing to give, give, give, and then give some more. This is the only way that a relationship can truly work and be a loving relationship.

Now love is also forgiving and understanding of the fact that we are all humans and we do make mistakes. There are many imperfections in a loving relationship, but the difference is that those imperfections are understood, accepted, and forgiven when they cause hurt. This is a true sign of a loving relationship and forgiveness is one of the deepest forms of love that can be expressed.

You Too Can Be A Public Speaker

Have you ever watched a speaker and said, “Wow, I wish I could speak like that”? or “That person was just so wonderful. I could never do that.” Well, I’ve got some good news for you. You too can be a public speaker. Public speaking is a learned skill, so anyone can do it. You just need to follow some simple steps and practice, practice, practice. If you know how to talk, you can become a public speaker.

Becoming really good at public speaking requires some risk, but you have been taking risks all your life. When you were a toddler, you risked falling down when you took your first steps. You risk scraping your knees or falling when you start roller blading. You risk falling off when you start bike riding. You risk being rejected when you ask someone out on a date, and you risk getting into an accident every time you drive your car.

If you gave up after your first fall, you’d still be crawling. If you were afraid to fall off your bike, you’d still be riding with training wheels. If you were afraid of getting into an accident, you’d never get behind the wheel of a car. And guess what, you’re still here – you’ve survived all of that. You’re risk takers!! You’ve proved that by coming to Toastmasters. The greatest fear is that of public speaking and here you are – wanting to learn how to do it.

How many of you enjoy watching figure skating? Now, you wouldn’t expect to be a world class figure skater the minute you put on a pair of skates, would you? No, you’d expect to have to practice for years before becoming that good. Nor would you expect to make the NHL without years and years of winter and summer hockey.

How many of you enjoy watching racing? Would you expect to be another Mario Andretti the minute you get behind the wheel? Now, I will admit that there seem to be a few drivers out there who think they are Mario, but most people would expect to have to practice for years before reaching his status.

Now, I think everyone here knows how to walk. When you think of walking 25 miles, it seems like a long distance, but it is actually only putting one foot in front of the other a number of times and you know how to do that. It just takes practice to go the distance. It’s the same thing with public speaking. It just takes putting one word after another.

The key to getting up in front of an audience is believing that you have something to share with them that may make a difference in their lives – by entertaining them, warning them, encouraging them, or giving them direction or information.

The great thing is – you all do have something to say that people would be interested in hearing. Each of you has come through life in a different way. You may have encountered difficult circumstances and survived. Your experience could help someone else in the same situation.

If you remember jokes or enjoy telling stories to your friends, practice a little more and soon you can be telling your jokes and stories to large audiences. If you are really good at something, consider sharing the steps of how you got there.

By following the steps outlined in the Toastmasters’ manuals, and with the encouragement of fellow Toastmasters, you can learn how to craft a speech and how to deliver it. You can learn how to use props, how to modulate your voice, and how to use words that your audience will understand.

You will often hear the words “stage time” used by Toastmasters. That is the only way to get better. In order to be good at anything, you have to practice. Winston Churchill overcame a speech impediment to become a master orator. He had to practice for hours to deliver a speech.

You can get very discouraged if you expect to be as good as Zig Ziglar right away. But if you listen to his story, you will find that it took a very long time before he was able to do what he does so well.

The thing to remember is that the only person you need to compare yourself to is you. You are working for your personal best, so when you are preparing your speech and practicing, all you need to ask yourself is – is your second speech better in some way than your first? Did you learn something new as you prepared for your speech? Did you learn something from the evaluative comments of others after you gave your speech? Then, that’s all you need to do. You can use what you’ve learned to make the next speech your best to date and then use the same process for each speech you give. Just take one step at a time.

Remember, public speaking is a skill, so anyone can learn to do it. You just need to be taught how and then practice, practice, practice. Then one day someone may watch you and say, “Wow, I wish I could speak like that.”

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Music – 4 Key Ingredients for the Best Ambient Background Music

Just as ambient background music can enhance your hypnosis sessions, so too can it diminish them if you do not use the right kind of music.

So what is the best ambient background music to use for hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

To begin with, the music must be pleasing to listen to while not being distracting. The last thing you want in a therapy session or in self-hypnosis is for your mind to be distracted by a compelling melody or by sudden rises and falls in volume and intensity.

Solo instruments should be muted so there is not too much of a volume difference between them and the backing instruments. This will ensure that the solos do not distract, and it will also ensure that the backgrounds do not fade into inaudibility when the music is played at low volume.

Speaking of which, the capacity of the music to be played at low volume without any dips that might result in stretches of silence is another factor you need to look for. As hypnosis music is usually played at low volume, this rules out a lot of music where the composers have used dramatic shifts in intensity to sustain interest.

Another important factor in choosing the best hypnosis music is that the music should be positive and gently uplifting. When listening to music in a normal setting it's quite OK to have passages of drama and emotional intensity. However, in the context of hypnosis, you want to avoid anything that might prompt a negative response in the client. This means that hypnosis music needs to sacrifice some drama and intensity in favour of a gentle, positive consistency.

This does not mean the music is going to be boring – it just means that the composer must take care to create an interesting piece using harmonic progressions and subtle melodies rather than the more dramatic devices.

To summarise, the best hypnosis and hypnotherapy music will have these four characteristics:

  1. Melodies pleasing to listen to but not distracting
  2. Solo instruments muted so as not to distract
  3. Volume intensity consistent throughout to avoid dropping below the audible level when played at low volume
  4. Positive and gently uplifting

Music based on these principles for ambient background music is able to create a sense of privacy and safety for the hypnosis client, encouraging them to relax into deep states of transformation and healing. It can also help your self-hypnosis or meditation sessions by gently guiding your awareness to more enlightening states of being. Make sure you choose hypnosis music that is created with your specific needs in mind.
