Dream Power For Teens

Teens are the first ones who must learn how to translate their dreams, so that they may become balanced and self-confident adults, without any psychological problems.

Besides being able to build a strong personality and stay forever far from all mental illnesses, thanks to the dream guidance, they will acquire a special power which surpasses the power of common people, who ignore too much about many things. This is the power of knowledge and wisdom.

If you are a teen and you want to learn more about the power of dreams, you can be sure that you have found accurate information about their meaning and all their power, which you’ll be able to verify by yourself if you follow my directions when trying to translate the meaning of your dreams.

The unconscious mind that produces your dreams is a doctor and a teacher who shows you everything in images that have certain meanings. You have to learn the dream language so that you may be able to translate the dream images into words with a specific meaning. This way you’ll understand the dream messages.

For example, you may see yourself flying in the air, and believe that this dream was very nice, because you felt free flying, etc. However, the specific meaning of this dream scene is that you are far from the objective reality, lost in your own fantasy world. This is not a good sign…

Now, let’s suppose that you were worried because you met a certain girl or boy who you liked very much but you don’t know anything about them, and you are thinking about them all the time. Then you start imagining how a relationship with them would be, and many things more. If you are imagining all that, but you see that you were flying in the air in a dream, you’ll already understand that you are far from reality.

You should not keep imagining how a relationship with this person would be, because this is something that is not possible. This notion may upset you, but at least you won’t spend all your energy in a lost game. The unconscious mind will show you the truth.

There are times where you’ll have good dreams, showing you positive aspects of your life, especially when your progress is increasing fast, because you are caring about the meaning of dreams.

Your dreams are treasures, and they will give you a new vision.

You’ll have the power to:

– Predict the future and correct what is wrong before things end up in a way that you dislike

– Learn everything that is happening with the person you love

– Protect your life and the lives of the people you love with the wisdom of the unconscious mind

– Keep your mental health and happiness for life

– Become a genius, developing your intelligence to its fullest

And much more…

This is a magical solution for young people. The dream power will save the new generation, and give new life to the whole of humanity.

A Book Review: The Calcium Lie II – What Your Doctor Still Doesn’t Know

In 2008, the authors published the first edition, The Calcium Lie – What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know Could Kill You. Then in 2013, they updated the information in The Calcium Lie – What Your Doctor Still Doesn’t Know. In this review we will look at the revised edition.

Dr. Robert Thompson, MD who maintains a medical practice in Alaska, at one time did not know what he lays out in this book. He, like most well-meaning health professionals, treated patients according to what he had learned in medical school for many years. Kathleen Barnes, a health journalist and author, lives in North Carolina. Dr. Thompson says that Kathleen helps him communicate in terms that his readers will understand.

This reviewer has administered numerous home school assessments over the years in which the General Information section of the tool she uses includes a question: “What mineral is most necessary to make bones hard?” Many have answered correctly, according to what they have learned and according to the assessment tool, “Calcium.”

Our authors would have us remember that the exam that determines whether a patient has osteoporosis or its precursor, osteopenia is the dexa MINERAL bone scan test. This name should help us remember that bones are made up of many minerals, one of which is calcium. By supplementing calcium alone, we actually harden more than our bones – calcification can occur in arteries, kidneys and other places in our bodies. Dr. Thompson reminds us throughout the book that “Calcium hardens concrete!”

Having gone into medicine with “altruistic” ideas, Dr. Thompson had become disenchanted with his profession, ready to quit. He reconsidered when in 1996 a peer-reviewed directory chose him as one of the “Best Doctors in America.” Encouraged, he decided to continue to make a difference.

Minerally Bankrupt (Chapter 1) – This foundational chapter states that bones consist of at least 12 minerals. “Excess calcium can cause:

• Kidney and gallstones

• Arterial plaque (and heart disease)

• Bone spurs (joints / osteoarthritis)

• Calcium deposits in tissues other than bones

• Brain cell dysfunction, brain shrinkage and dementia.” (p. 9)

• Cataracts

• Cancer

• Diabetes

• Hypothyroidism

• Hypertension (p. 29)

• Obesity (p. 39)

• Migraines (p. 43)

“Too much calcium causes the adrenal glands to be suppressed in order for the kidneys to hold on to the necessary magnesium in an attempt to keep these two minerals in balance.” (p. 19)

Before the invention of refrigeration, our forefathers used sea or rock salt to preserve food. Our natural balance of minerals left with this change. “Because a mineral ‘footprint’ is passed from mother to child, each generation has become progressively more deficient in these essential minerals.” (p. 12)

To add more injury to our systems, when the use of iodine in making bread and canned goods was exchanged with cheaper bromine, we began to see an increase in “thyroid disease and cancer, breast cysts, fibrous changes, cyclic tenderness and cancer, prostrate inflammation and cancer, and ovarian hormonal dysfunction, ovarian cysts, endometriosis and ovarian cancer.” (p. 13)

Table salt destroys health and the best mineral supplement is unrefined rock or sea salt. Dr. Thompson explains that the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HMTA) gives the best possible analysis of the mineral levels and guides the medical practitioner in properly supplementing. He recommends only Trace Minerals, Inc. for doing the test.

Throughout the book, Dr. Thompson gives mini lessons on biochemistry that all doctors study in medical school. Amazingly, most doctors have forgotten their biochemistry and continue to follow the “Calcium Lie,” “The Calcium Myth” (chapter 2), and “The Vitamin Lie” (chapter 7).

Our authors devote chapters to the following health conditions and how they relate to calcium:

• Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Calcium (chapter 3)

• Digestive Dilemmas: Poor Protein Digestion, Sodium Deficiency and Cell Membrane Dysfunction (chapter 4)

• Metabolic Failure How Excess Calcium Causes Weight Gain, Thyroid and Adrenal Malfunctions and Five Types of Hypothyroidism (chapter 5)

• Women’s Issues: Pregnancy, Childbirth and Menopause (chapter 6)

Stress plays a key role in our heath. Thompson and Barnes address this issue and its relationship to Calcium (chapter 8). They emphasize that “stress management must be a regular part of a healthy life style.” (p. 176)

In chapter 9, The Road Back to Health they give their readers the following steps:

1. Drink pure water.

2. Take ionic sea salt – derived supplements.

3. Whole food vitamins.

4. Essential Fatty Acids

5. Eat raw nuts and/or seeds daily.

6. Eat high quality protein.

7. Get essential monosaccharides. (p. 184-195)

The Calcium Lie II closes with chapter 10, “Doctor to Doctor: An Impassioned Plea.” He encourages his readers to copy this chapter and take to their doctors or better yet to purchase a copy of the book for their doctors.

Dr. Thompson and Kathleen Barnes present the facts behind their claims. Reading and following their guidance will improve our health.

Top 10 Herbs in Hair Loss Shampoo

There are a huge number of shampoos that claim to help with preventing hair loss. A lot of these shampoos contain natural herbs. There are some herbs, which over the years, have been recognised as helping with this problem. These are now often included in hair loss shampoo. The selection of a herbal shampoo depends on the type of hair loss involved and the way in which the herbal ingredients work.

There are four main ways that herbs act to help prevent loss of hair: circulation to hair follicles may be increased or maintained, Dihydrotestosterone can be inhibited and reduced around hair follicles, irritation and inflammation may be reduced or the scalp and hair follicles may be cleaned to increase their general health and longevity. These are the main herbs that seem to act against the loss of hair.

  • Rosemary. This herb has been used for many centuries. It is known to increase blood circulation and for this reason is seen as a way of stimulating hair follicles to remain healthy by ensuring a regular good supply of nutrients. It also has ingredients which mop up any free radicals. Free radicals are known to speed up the aging process and so anything which removes these will help to keep your skin young.
  • Nettle. It is thought that nettle extracts can inhibit the production of Dihydrotestosterone. This is produced from testosterone and is involved in male pattern baldness. Whether local applications of this will help prevent baldness is another question. However, there are a lot of products which attempt to work in this way. Nettle also contains a range of vitamins and minerals that are good for hair growth.
  • Sage. It is known as a deep cleanser. This herb will thoroughly clean the scalp. Keeping the hair follicles clean is an important part of keeping them healthy. Healthy follicles should last longer. It is also known to be effective against dandruff.
  • Saw Palmetto. This herbreduces the amount ofDihydrotestosterone in the scalp tissue and hair follicles.
  • Aloe Vera: This ingredient works by calming and healing irritated skin. It also cleans the scalp and hair follicles very well. It is also suggested that it promotes hair growth.
  • Arnica. The healing properties of Arnica prevent and alleviate unhealthy scalp conditions. It ensures adequate nutrition to the hair shaft and follicles and therefore promotes hair growth and prevents scalp disorders.
  • Marigold. Marigold cleans and soothes dry itchy scalp and helps slow down hair loss
  • Catmint. This encourages hair growth and soothes scalp irritation
  • Horsetail: This herb contains a lot of silica which is a popular ingredient used in preventing hair loss. It promotes hair growth by increasing the health of hair follicles and the strength of hair produced.
  • Liquorice. It contains substances with anti inflammatory properties. It also helps to keep the scalp skin moist and hydrated.

A lot of hair loss shampoos contain mixtures of the above herbs in order to try and provide a balance of methods to prevent hair loss. However, if you are expecting some magic solution that is going to bring back all of that lost hair then you should think again. The best you can hope to achieve is a reduction in hair loss and maybe some regrowth due to the general health of the scalp improving.

Cat Information – Health For Your Older Cats

For older cats information, talk with an older cat owner. Older cat, older owner — doesn’t really matter which!

When my son was barely fourteen, we went to the local animal shelter to get a dog. There weren’t any small dogs to be had (we lived in a small house!), so we planned to come back the next weekend. We decided to stroll through the cat area before we went home, just to see some cute cats. That’s when we met Dave.

He wasn’t Dave yet. As my son walked by a cage that housed about 20 kittens, not yet Dave climbed the side of the mesh cage and meowed. Loudly. Since he was only about 6 inches long, James laughed and reached in to pet him. He quickly crawled up James’ arm and tried to make a home in his shirt collar. He was petted and fawned over and then put back in the cage. We thought we might pet another kitten or two. We were wrong. Notyetdave was persistent and a really good climber. And a loud purrer. We took him home and named him Dangerous Dave, after a character in a video game my son was playing online at the time.

Aging is a state of mind, right? People don’t always act their age – and neither do cats. A 70 year old person may act like a young adult, while somebody else the same age may at like he or she is on a deathbed. My Uncle Luther started the great downhill slide on his 40th birthday. He spent the next 40 years certain that every day was his last.

Cats are pretty much like people. Your pet may act like a kitten for many years or may feel old and grouchy even when he’s young. Specific breed, environment, and genetics play a role, but in general, a well-cared for house cat usually lives to be at least 15 years old. Some cats live to be well over 20. My current 16 year old cat still hides around corners so he can jump out and scare us. Then he laughs. Really.

There are things you can do, no matter what your cat’s disposition, to provide your cat with the chance for the longest life possible.

* Have your cat spayed or neutered. Statistics show that fixed cats live longer, because this causes the cat to stay closer to home and be exposed to few dangerous situations and disease.

* Make sure that you are buying cat food that is appropriate for your cat’s age.

* Indoor cats live longer. Consider keeping your cat inside.

As your cat ages, you may need to accommodate certain medical conditions. Your cat may suffer from any of the following illnesses or limitations: reduced tolerance to extreme temperatures, slow reactions, blindness, susceptibility to infection, arthritis and joint stiffness, digestion problems, liver and kidney problems, weaker bones, deafness, cancer, muscle weakness, memory loss, high blood pressure, and irritability. In fact, cats and humans face many of the same aging issues.

Make sure to encourage exercise in your cat. You can do this by playing with your cat every day. Toys and environmental pieces, like scratching posts, are great for encouraging your cat to exercise. Remember, cats may spend a lot of the day sleeping. A cat nap may only be 10 minutes, but there are 5 or 6 every hour.

Make sure that your cat has regular checkups with the vet. It is always better to prevent problems than to treat them. You should also brush your cat’s teeth daily and have your cat groomed regularly to prevent skin diseases. Your cat will love grooming because it is a chance for attention from you. Monitor your cat for diet changes, altered sleep habits, and unusual thirst. Your cat will be much more likely to age happily the more you are involved in his or her life. Do your part to keep your older cats well, happy, and with you for many years to come.

Oh, whatever happened to Dave? My son’s daughter is now in the second grade and she thinks Dave belongs to her. She doesn’t yet understand that we all belong to Dave. He’s sixteen and going strong. He’s still loud and pushy. He still keeps us entertained with kittenish antics and generous affection. He makes our lives richer every day. He is our encyclopedia of cats information. Kittens are great, but I think older cats are the best.

Dogs That Are Good With Children

Its true, dogs do play pivotal role in child development. Health care specialists have noticed after a nurse, Elaine Smith, introduced dog therapy as an alternative therapeutic treatment how dogs can play a major role not only in therapeutic treatment but also in child development.

Companionship can be critical to children and it was found out that dogs can readily and efficiently fill that spot. That’s why it is often recommended that smaller growing children should have a pet of their own, if only to break barriers that inhibit growth like speech impediment. Or just instilling a sense of responsibility at an early age. And naturally, dogs that are good with children are best candidates for this purpose.

Being sought more as family pet, selective breeding practices over the years were aimed to iron out aggressive traits of some breeds of dogs. Now there are those breed of dogs are highly tolerant; they tolerate well the clumsy handling of older individuals and the rough handling and playing of small children. Those that have undergone training are able to resist any instinctive retaliation when pranks are played upon them – typical to small children at play. One example of a highly tolerant breed is mastiffs. A trained English mastiff can be very tolerant and gentle that it can suffer most rough playing before showing signs of aggression, and won’t bite even then. Pointers are also famed for their low aggression level, though their playful nature can be harmful for very young toddlers. Another trite example is the St. Bernard.

Depending on the level of play of youngsters, there are suitable dogs and there that isn’t. For growing children that loves playing outdoors, dogs that are good with children should be also adaptable for such activity. That’s why Labradors, retrievers, Dalmatians and American Eskimos are better dogs. But for those especially young children, who are more cooped up indoors, a St. Bernard or a mastiff would do nicely.

In a nutshell, there are dozens of breed of dogs that are good with children. Examples include but not limited to mastiffs, pointers, and some mossolers like the St. Bernard, and conventional toy dogs like poodles. However, breed is not a de facto standard for naming dogs that are good with children, as training is highly essential for dogs of this purpose.

If you are considering dogs that are good with children, you should choose a breed that’s normally with gentle temperament like those mentioned above. And they should have the right training.

625 Guitar Strum Patterns For You to Play

It's always good to learn new guitar strum patterns to spice up your rhythm guitar playing. Sometimes, though, it can be hard to find new ideas. This article shows you an easy way to create 625 four beat rhythm patterns so you'll never be short of an idea again.

You can create all these patterns with a simple tool that fits in your guitar bag or pocket, and the best thing is it costs nothing. You can make it yourself in just five minutes by following the instructions in this article.

Are you ready for some rhythms? Read on and you will learn how to make the set of rhythm cards that will give you 625 strum patterns to play.

Rhythm Cards

Start with a sheet of blank paper, A4 or Letter size is ideal. You create four columns on the sheet by folding it in half vertically two times.

Next, open the sheet out again and draw five equally spaced rows using a ruler and pencil. If you have Letter size paper your rows will be 2.2 inches (approx. 55 mm) wide. For A4 paper, you need to mark 59 mm wide rows. The horizontal lines and vertical folds now give you a sheet with twenty rectangles marked on it.

The next stage is to add a strum to each of the rectangles which represent one beat in the music. You are going to add a symbol to show the strum pattern to play on that beat.

Strum Notation

You can use music notation for notes and rests if you know it. You'll need quarter notes (one beat), eighth notes (half a beat) and their corresponding rests. If you do not know the musical notation you can just use the simple letters described below instead.

1. In each rectangle of the top row , put a capital letter "D" (without the quotes). This is a quarter note (one beat) strummed down.

2. In the next row put the letters "du" – these are two eighth notes (half a beat each), strum down then up.

3. Fill the next row with four " dx" – an eighth note strum followed by eighth note rest, strum down and then mute the strings.

4. Fill the next row with four " xu" – an eighth note rest followed by an eighth note strum, mute the strings for half a beat and then strum up.

5. Finally, fill the last row with four capital letter "X" – a quarter note rest, play nothing for one beat. You can choose to let the previous note ring on or stop it by muting the strings.

You now have five rows filled in, each with one of the strum symbols above repeated four times. Now you can cut out the rectangles to make twenty cards you will use to create rhythm patterns to play.

Time to play

To create a four beat (one bar) rhythm pattern shuffle the cards and pick four randomly. Place the cards side by side and you have a rhythm pattern to strum.

For example, you might pick the following four symbols: D, du, X, d x. So you strum down, down up, rest, down rest.

Pick up your guitar and play the pattern using a chord progression or song you know. When you get bored with it, put your cards back in a pile, shuffle them and pick four again to create a new pattern.

These cards with their five symbols allow you to make up 625 four beat patterns. That should give you enough rhythm ideas to work with for a while.

Even more rhythms

You can create even more patterns by swapping down strums or up strums. You can also create two or four bar patterns by picking eight or sixteen cards, respectively. You can also create variations by using swing feeling or adding more cards with triplets or sixteenth notes if you wish. The possibilities are endless …

How to Be Happy With Yourself in Five Easy Steps

Often the really attractive and likable people we meet are not the most physically beautiful, the most intelligent, or the most artistic, but simply those that are the happiest with themselves. Discovering how to be happy with yourself is the first step to becoming a relaxed, confident and interesting person that will be as attractive to other people as you are to yourself. Here are five easy steps that show you how to be happy with yourself:

1. Look to the future not the past

Perhaps you have done something in the past that you're not proud of, or maybe you feel that life has dealt you a poor hand. If only you could go back and do things differently.

Well the bad news is that you can not go back, but the good news is that letting go of the past and accepting what has happened is the best way to move on and allow yourself to look forward to a fulfilling future. Realizing you can not change the past is the first step in discovering how to be happy with yourself.

2. Stop criticizing other people

Looking for faults and failures in others is usually only a way of covering up our own insecurities. All too often we criticize others for things that we know we do ourselves. Try to stop judging other people and concentrate on living your own life in the best way you can; you will quickly find that you feel better about yourself as well.

3. Do something for another person

Take the focus off yourself for a while by doing something positive for another person. Maybe you just offer to walk someone's dog when you know they do not have time, or maybe you go the whole hog and volunteer at a homeless shelter or retirement home.

Whatever you choose to do, it will stop you dwelling on yourself, and when you do get chance to reflect you will find you're much happier with the person you have become. Doing a good deed for someone else is truly something you can be proud of.

4. Know your strengths

Everybody has something that they're good at whether it's as simple as cooking, gardening, or playing with the kids, or as complex as fine art, music or business. Identify the things you're good at and make them a part of your routine. Do something that you do well at least once a week and take time to feel proud about what you have done. Acknowledging your achievements, however small you think they are, is a very positive step in how to be happy with yourself.

5. Do things that make you smile

Spending your life working hard and caring for your family is very honorable, but unless you take time out to do things that make you happy, you will never really learn to value yourself. Schedule time to indulge your hobbies, whether that's playing golf, taking long walks, watching classic films, going dancing, or supporting your local baseball team.

Having a hobby or interest that you enjoy will make you a more interesting and fulfilled person as well as helping you to meet like minded people. Taking time out to do things you like to do is the final step in how to be happy with yourself.

Origin, Theories & History of Hypnosis

Origin of hypnosis dates back to the time when man started interacting as a social creature and realized the benefits that can be reaped from influencing other people’s beliefs and actions in their favour. History of all major cultures around the globe is dotted with anecdotes of the use of hypnosis in one way or other, though it was not recognized or acknowledged as such till the beginning of the last century.

The incessant chant of “Om” and other mantras during the Vedic period of the Hindus (still practiced all over India) produced hypnotic trance in the devotees. The witch doctors of the middle ages and the mass faith healing sessions of the religious sects and the miracle healing communes of the so called ‘God men’ mistook the hypnotic trance produced in the suggestible, receptive devotees as a sign of the ultimate spiritual attainment. It is also no secret that many of these religious rituals utilized herbal psychotropic drugs to enhance the psychedelic experiences of the devout.

Charismatic political leaders of the modern era often put their listeners into a hypnotic trance through their forcible oratory skills. Personalities like Hitler and Saddam had skillfully manipulated the resulting highly suggestive and receptive state of their followers to further advance their political and genocidal agenda.

The history of hypnosis with regard to its origin and theories is an eventful and fascinating one and calls for at least a cursory review here.

The Animal Magnetism Theory: The distinct concept of hypnosis was created by the charismatic 18th century Austrian healer Franz Anton Mesmer (1734-1815). He believed he could “store” animal magnetism as a ‘cosmic fluid’ in inanimate objects like iron filings or magnets and transfer it to patients to cure them of illnesses. Later he discarded the magnets and started using his own body as the store of the healing force. His success in inducing the trance(though not recognized as such), made mesmerism a cult around the world. It is indeed the forerunner of hypnotic suggestion.

The Electric Theory: Mesmer’s disciple, the Marquis de Puysegur, who introduced a new twist that the cosmic fluid was not magnetic but electric and that it was present in all living beings, including plants. His healing sessions were conducted in the natural environment.

In the mid 1800s, a leading English physician, John Elliotson used the trance state to perform 1,834 surgeries painlessly. In India, during the same period, James Esdaile, a Scottish surgeon, performed many major and complicated surgeries like amputation of limbs using the ‘magnetic sleep’ as the only anaesthesia.

Nervous Sleep or Hypnosis: It was in the late 19th century that James Braid finally gave mesmerism a scientific explanation. He explained mesmerism to be a nervous type of sleep and coined the term hypnosis, derived from the Greek word hypnos, meaning sleep. Braid recognised hypnosis as a state of exaggerated suggestibility.

The phenomenon of divided mind: Pierre Janet saw hypnosis as a “dissociation” phenomenon, where a group of dissociated memories might develop into a second personality.

Jean-Martin Charcot (1825-1893), leading French neurologist of his day, regarded hypnosis as a pathological state of artificial hysteria.

Freud explained that a sort of paralysis of the will and power of movement took place in hypnosis. He thought that the power of hypnosis resided in the paralysis produced by the influence of an omnipotent person, on a defenceless, impotent subject!

Acceptance of hypnosis in medicine that we have today is largely owed to the efforts of pioneers in the experimental study of hypnosis, starting in the early 20th century. Foremost among the researchers were Clark Hull and his student, Milton Erickson. Hull’s 1933 discussion of scientific research into hypnosis (Hypnosis and Suggestibility) is still considered a classic among scientific literature on hypnosis.

1935 saw the birth of medical hypnotherapy through important advances in the medical use of hypnosis. Milton Erickson (1901-1980) started using hypnosis on a large scale in his patients. He practiced and established many successful induction techniques like metaphor and indirect hypnosis.

Theodore Sarbinin in 1950 pioneered the ‘sceptical’ modern concept of hypnosis. Hypnosis was considered as a social-psychological alternative to the views that (1) a single distinctive neurological and psychological state underlies all hypnotic phenomena (Paris school of thought), and (2) that suggestions somehow mechanically produce responses without the participation of the subject (Nancy school).

In addition to Erickson and Hull, modern scientific research into hypnosis has been advanced through a period of intense experimental research in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s by notables such as J.P Sutcliffe, T.X. Barber, M.T.Orne, E.R. Hilgard and R.E. Shor. The work of these researchers had been particularly influential on the current scientific view of hypnosis, especially in the context of medical hypnotherapy.

CNA Certification Programs

You will need to look for a reputable CNA Certification program if you want to start a career as a certified nursing assistant. The training program will get you ready to work as a nursing assistant in a variety of healthcare settings. It will also help you to prepare to be able to successfully take the CNA certification exam.

When you are searching for CNA certification programs, you will need to find those that are approved by the state board of nursing and the nursing aide registry. You need programs that specifically state that they make you eligible to sit for the CNA certification exam upon completion. Do not mistake a nursing aide program for a certified nursing assistant/nursing aide program. A registered nurse will lead most training programs. He or she will be trained to help you prepare for a career as a CNA.

There are several locations where you are likely to find CNA certification programs. They are often offered at hospitals, continuing care communities and other healthcare facilities. If your employer pays for your CNA certification program, you will most likely be required to work for that employer for a specified amount of time.

Some community colleges offer CNA training programs, which is why you should contact schools in your area. It is often possible to find CNA programs that are offered at a nursing school. You will even notice that there are CNA training programs offered online. You will need to complete the clinical portion of such a course at a local healthcare facility.

The American Red Cross offers CNA training at over 3-dozen of their local chapters across the country. Contact the Red Cross in your area to search for training programs near home. The American Red Cross offers a program that is among the best. Students of these classes tend to do exceptionally well on exams.

When you attend a CNA training program, you will learn what you need to know to work as a nursing assistant. You will have lecture studies, labs and demonstrations before it is time for your clinical experience. The training will teach you how to perform the necessary duties of a nursing assistant while also protecting the safety and privacy of your patients.

You will then have a clinical portion of your program. You will learn to put your learned in the classroom to practice as you have the opportunity to work directly with patients. Of course, you will be under the supervision of your instructor and other members of the medical team.

Once you complete the course in it’s entirely, you will be ready to take the CNA certification exam. This exam will have two parts: one written and one skills portion. Receive a passing grade on both sections in order to become a certified nursing assistant.

Physical Therapy – Getting Back on Your Feet

Injuries can set you back for a while. Whether you have had surgery to heal correct a problem such as a torn rotator cuff or ACLS or you’ve been in an accident, they can take their toll on your freedom and life. There are many ways to get back to your old self. No matter what the problem has kept you from being able to have the range of motion you were once used to. Physical Therapy is a great way to help you get your body back to what once were.

So what is physical therapy? It is a health profession that helps to assess and provide treatment when you have been sick, injured, or even just simple aging. You will be helped by a certified by a therapist or an assistant that will work with you to get you back. Before you start your treatment you will sit down with your doctor or the therapist to decide what needs to be done. After the initial consultation is over the assistant or therapist will work directly with you to ensure that you are able to reach the goals that you have set.

They will be exercising you on a regular basis and re-evaluate your progress at specified intervals. When you go to your physical therapy session you will have to do whatever you are told to the best of your ability. It’s the only way that you will get better. You need to be able to tell him or her if you are having a difficult time with the treatment. Of course, you can’t expect for the practice to be simple and easy or you won’t be building your strength back up. But if things are too excruciating then you need to speak up so that you might be able to revamp your routine.

You are supposed to be healing not making the injury worse, which can happen if you go to strong too early.

Physical therapy can be forms of exercise, massage therapy, or even traction. You might be required to use free weights or weight machines during your routine. Quite often you will be required to do a variety of different types of routines during your recovery. You might be working out the area and then have a massage. For knee injuries you might sit in a therapy pool so that you can work the joint without a lot of impact on the joint.

This process is the best way to get yourself back into the swing of your life. You’ve already been off your game with your injury or illness. You need to be open and honest with your trainer while you are doing your exercises. You want to get the best benefit possible from this. Take it nice and slow so that you can regain your strength without hurting yourself further. Listen closely to the instructions and don’t worry about telling him that you are having difficulty with the task. It might be that you need something a little less taxing at that time.

Creating Your Own Personal Healthy Diet Plan

Choosing a healthy diet plan may require the services of a certified nutritionist, with medical input by your physician. This could entail two trips to the doctor's office, and a number of sit-downs with the nutritionist, before you even get started.

This is the preferred way to start a healthy diet plan, especially if you are under a doctor's care for diabetes, hypertension, or heart disease. Planning is essential to establish the don'ts, and to determine the extent of the do's. You do not want to regret not taking these initial steps later on.

After you get rolling with your diet plan, there would still be a need for occasional consultations with both professionals, to monitor your progress. They may make adjustment to your diet plan as you proceed toward your goal.

No healthy diet plan is complete without regular exercise. A personal trainer would be ideal, if you can afford one. But most people would rather become a member of a health spa or exercise gym, where personal trainer services are included in the membership fees. The services may not be too personal, but will suffice.

The nutritionist, doctor, and trainer could become a costly venture. In fact, it could cost you two arms and a leg to actually start a healthy diet plan. But thank heavens there is a way to keep your arms and leg, and pay almost nothing to achieve the same benefits.

Dietary Guidelines

The US Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Human Services announced the release of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The Dietary Guidelines is published jointly every 5 years by the Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The Guidelines provide advice for all Americans two years and older about how to make healthy dietary choices. They are designed to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, overweight and obesity through improved nutrition and physical exercise.

The 7th edition of Dietary Guidelines for Americans places stronger emphasis on reducing calorie consumption and increasing physical activity and / or exercise, because more than one-third of children and more than two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight or obese. This edition, like previous ones, also serves as the basis for Federal food and nutrition education programs.

Structure of Food Guides

Most countries have developed some sort of food nutrition guide, for its people, establishing a healthy diet and nutrition plan to keep the nation healthy. The guide usually consists of four to six food groups, detailing the daily serving servings for each group, and other recommendations for healthy eating.

Weight Loss Myths and Truths

Weight loss myths are created to justify bogus diet programs. Lose twenty pounds in a week. Get the body of your dreams before the beach season. Be the envy of all your friends. And just to show you that they're serious, all the information is presented by a human Barbie or Ken doll. It's gotta work, right? Though popular diet programs come and go quicker than the turning of seasons, people are still pulled in by weight loss myths like moths to a flame.

Despite what the best-selling books and peppy infomercials will tell you, the sad truth is that in almost every case these fad programs result in regained pounds and in additional weight gained. It's inevitable because these programs are unsustainable long-term. And then, when your body rebounds from one of these starvation or manufactured food type weight loss programs you gain more weight than you started with. This is called the "rebound effect" of yo-yo dieting and the people who design these bogus programs count on it. They also count on the fact that you will not blame them for the failure; you will blame yourself for not "sticking with the program."

The truth is that it's not your fault, you never had a chance to succeed and trust me they know it. There are just to many weight loss myths and bad diet programs to list. So, I have listed the most common types by category. If a program falls into one of these categories do not go for it!

Does it make unrealistic claims? Rapid weight loss is one of the most believed myths. Look, I know you'd love to lose twenty pounds in a week, but that just is not realistic. Safe, effective and healthy weight loss is at the rate of 1 – 3 pounds each week (the one exception is the 1st couple of weeks where you can make more drastic initial losses of 4 – 8 pounds a week) Anything faster than this is extremely unhealthy, it will cause your metabolism to slow and your body to lose muscle mass. Both of these conditions makes it easier for you to regain weight after you return to your normal eating pattern.

Does it ask that you purchase special products ? The idea that we can not maintain a healthy weight by eating normal foods is a common myth. There are no chemically enhanced food items or gimmicks needed for weight loss; nature has provided everything we need. Any program that expects you to give up healthy and nutritious whole foods in exchange for highly processed 'diet' products or foods simply are playing on common myths. These programs are not healthy and will not work long-term.

Does it eliminate certain foods or whole food groups? Programs that say certain basic food groups like carbohydrates are bad for you are based on popular myths. It will set you up for failure and possibly even risk your health. Your body requires a proper amount and mix of carbohydrates, proteins and fats to be healthy and strong. Eliminating food groups causes you to lose out on nutrients that you need and can be dangerous to your health. You may lose some weight initially, but at what cost?

Does it include a strict plan to follow ? Another one of the common myths is that you must follow a strict restrictive diet to lose weight. Come on, we are humans, not robots. Who can really stick with a drastic diet schedule? If a program can not be customized to fit your personal likes and dislikes as well as your schedule then you will not stick with it.

These myths are perpetuated by the billion dollar weight loss industry to get you to buy their programs. Their programs are all designed to produce short term success, sometimes even drastic early weight loss, and then fail in the long term. They fail because all of these programs are unsustainable. They count on your failure and self blame for the failure to set you up for their next "miracle" weight loss program. Do not keep falling for the myths pushed by these companies.

First Aid Basics All People Should Know

What is first aid? First aid or emergency care is exactly what it says it is. It is not a medical treatment and you should not compare what you can do with what the doctor would do. You are not to make medical decisions, just simple common sense decisions that are appropriate to the injured person’s interests at the time.

As a first aider and a member of Philippine National Red Cross since 1996, these are the top 10 rules for any emergency situation:

Look after yourself — don’t do anything hazardous or thoughtless activity that will put you in danger. Get the victim and yourself away from hazards as soon as possible. Don’t get trapped in a fire, etc.

Check for: breathing, choking, bleeding, consciousness. action on these can save lives.

Get help as soon as possible. Don’t do anything without professional aid. Tell the professionals over the phone how many casualties there are, what happened, exactly where you are, your telephone number and whether special equipment is needed.

Reassure the victim always. Give him confidence that the help is on the way.

Organize bystanders — don’t let them get too close to the victim.

Decide quickly which most needs urgent attention when there are several casualties.

Turn the victim to a recovery position and clear the airway immediately. If there’s a possibility of fractures, don’t move the victim.

Have a first aid kit in hand all the time.

Apply life-saving procedures like CPR if necessary.

Join trainings at your area for first aid. It will become handy soon. It’s best to be prepared.

HOME FIRST AID KIT:

It is best to keep a first aid kit handy at all times. This should be kept in a plastic box, well sealed, and away from children. Make sure that everyone knows where it is kept so that It could be easily accessed when it is already needed.

The box should contain:

A triangular bandage and several large safety pins.

Disposable sterile gloves.

Cotton wool (for clearing but not for putting on wounds or burns).

White gauze in rolls and/or pads.

Paper tissues (white preferably) in small unopened packs.

Adhesive dressings(plasters) of various sizes.

Adhesive strapping.

Scissors.

Gauze bandages in all sizes.

Pain-relieving tablets. NOTE: Don’t keep aspirins unless foil wrapped for more than a year.

Antiseptic for cleaning wounds (Povidone Iodine Solutions and Antibacterial creams)

Thermometer.

Ice pack.

Wet wipes.

Calamine lotion.

Indigestion tablets.

travel sickness tablets.

An eye bath.

A piece of paper with your telephone number, addresses and telephone numbers of the hospitals and family doctors.

SOME COMMON DON’Ts:

Take note of these things. you will be able to save more lives just by remembering these important details!

DON’T use a tourniquet to stop bleeding—the chances are you’ll do more harm than good by cutting off the blood supply for too long.

DON’T throw the head back for a nose bleed—this makes the blood trickle to the back of the throat where it is swallowed. subsequent vomiting can make the nosebleed worse.

DON’T give people salt water to make them sick when they swallow tablets. Don’t give any water because rather than diluting the poison, water speeds up its absorption in the stomach.

DON’T use antiseptics undiluted—they are no more effective than in the correct dilution and can damage the body.

DON’T force a damaged elbow into a sling—you may do serious damage to the nerves and blood vessels nearby.

DON’T force a zip fastener open if the foreskin is caught. Cut the bottom of the zip from below.

DON’T leave hand injuries hanging down—keep them up to stop swelling. Pin the cuff to the person’s lapel or dress high up on the chest.

DON’T cover wounds or infections of the fingered with nylon finger stalls for more than a hour or so. The warm, moist conditions favor the breeding of germs.

DON’T use other people’s medicines.

DON’T give anything by mouth to someone you suspect has broken a bone—he may need an anesthetic later.

DON’T make an emergency pillow for someone who collapsed on the street—you may endanger his breathing by bending the neck forwards.

DON’T leave unconscious people anything to drink or eat. wait until the person is alert enough to hold a cup himself.

DON’T remove people from the scene of the crash because the ambulance crew may never find them.

DON’T take people to hospital by private car after a serious accident or illness because you deprive them of the treatment they could receive in the ambulance.

DON’T try lifting a vehicle off someone—you’ll probably hurt yourself or fail and let it drop back on the person, so inflicting even more damage.

DON’T touch anything until the main supply has been switched off when you arrive at the scene of an electrical shock.

DON’T cover people up more when they have a fever.

DON’T ever move a person from a crash or fall—he may have broken bones. Just make him comfortable till the professional help arrives.

DON’T try to do any first aid maneuvers if you’re not well trained in the emergency procedure—-you may harm the person more.

DON’T put cotton wools or any fluffy dressings on to a burn.

DON’T put any grease, oily creams or butter on the burn. Leave blisters alone.

DON’T replace dislocated joints.

DON’T give cotton wool sandwiches or other bulky remedies to swallow when a person got a fishbone in his throat.

This article wasn’t written to give you tips on how to do proper first aid steps on specific emergencies. It is still best to join local first aid trainings yourself. Enroll now at any Red Cross branch and start learning how to do first aid procedure by yourself. This might come in handy someday.
