5 Things to Do After You Are Diagnosed With Hashimoto’s Disease

Hashimoto’s Disease is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in the United States. Unfortunately, it is also the most mismanaged type of hypothyroidism. Most people who are diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease receive only thyroid hormone replacement, yet continue to suffer with all of the same symptoms. Here are five things every Hashimoto’s patient should do to help decrease their symptoms.

  1. Stop taking all iodine containing supplements: Iodine is an important nutrient for thyroid function, and iodine deficiencies are common across the country, but in cases of Hashimoto’s disease iodine can actually trigger the immune system attack. Bottom line is that iodine is a very important supplement for many people, but it is contraindicated with this disease because it flares the immune system, and makes the problem worse.
  2. Have your vitamin D level tested: A common problem among those with autoimmune diseases is vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is critical for immune system support. A simple blood test by your doctor can determine whether or not your body’s stored vitamin D levels are high enough. It is recommended that your levels should be 33 ng/ml or higher. If you test low your doctor will recommend a high quality supplement with a retest in the future to make sure you are absorbing it properly.
  3. Get tested for gluten sensitivity: The literature shows that a high number of people who are diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease also have gluten sensitivity. Gluten is found in wheat, barley, rye, and other grains. Gluten sensitivity simply means that every time you eat gluten your immune system tries to attack and kill it, creating major inflammation. This immune trigger will cause your immune system to further attack and destroy your thyroid gland. The best and most sensitive test for gluten sensitivity is a stool SIgA test. Your doctor can order this test for you. If you have tested negatively with a saliva or blood test make sure you get the stool test, as continuing to eat gluten when you have a sensitivity is detrimental to your condition.
  4. Manage blood sugar closely: You are probably thinking, “I’m not diabetic, why would this apply to me?” There are a lot functional diabetics and functional hypoglycemics walking around that have no clue they have a problem. This is a complex issue your doctor will need to work with you on, but proper blood sugar regulation is essential to keep from continuously triggering the immune system.
  5. Do NOT take “immune supporting” supplements: This is the biggest mistake I see patients and many doctors make in an attempt to support the immune system. With an autoimmune disease the immune system has essentially become confused. One side of the immune system becomes dominant and the other side suppressed. It is this imbalance that creates the confusion and causes it to attack your own thyroid gland. It is likely the immune support supplement contains an herb or botanical that may be helpful but likely contains things that are worsening your immune dominance. It is essential to have some very special immune panels ran to determine your immune dominance and the specific pattern of immune dysfunction to really find out the true nature of the immune problem. Then a specific application of herbs, botanicals, and plant extracts that have been shown to have specific effects on various cells in the immune system can be used to modulate and re-balance it. Until you have a doctor that knows how to run these immune panels and apply that knowledge, don’t play with fire, just avoid broad support immune supplements all together.

  If you are diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease then do these 5 things to give yourself a better chance to feel good again. Since the immune system is the source of the problem, finding a doctor trained in looking at the specifics of the immune response, familiar with autoimmune triggers, and trained in the application of natural medicine in relation to the immune system, is your best choice to fully turn down the dimmer on your disease.

Health Nutrition & Nutritional Advice For Health and Wellbeing

It is possible to spend hours, days, even months or years trying to understand nutrition, how it connects to you individually and how you can improve your own diet and wellbeing with it!

Most of us want to lose some weight, look younger, feel better and stay well in order to enhance our vitality and health in general. We read endless articles and news on what is the new super food and why we need it. But do you really ever get it? Do you ever really understand what a vitamin is, or a mineral, or an antioxidant, or a free radical, why we need them all (or not), and what effects that can be caused if we do not have them?

As a human being, like it or not, you will change with age, stress, environment and circumstance, meaning that what you need nutritionally needs to change too! On top of that, holding onto unwanted toxins throughout stressful situations and life itself build up to make a difference to how we feel and how we look.

So what is this article about? Within this article I want to explain, as simply as possible, why health nutrition is vital to your life, wellbeing, energy, looks, children and future; what vitamins and minerals actually are and why we need them; how the environment has an effect upon us (like it or not) and what you can do to enhance your health and wellbeing on an individual level.

What is health nutrition?
Health nutrition is seeing what you eat as a way to enhance your health. It is understanding that you are what you eat, therefore making total sense to optimize your diet to get the most from your true health potential!

Taking this a step further, we therefore see that poor nutrition could damage our health and prevent us from reaching our true possibilities both emotionally and physically! As intelligent humans (really!), We have vital choices about our own health by what we consume? We are becoming fast more and more aware that diet and nutrition really is the key to true health potential and wellness.

What is a Vitamin?
Vitamins are micronutrients that are essential to human health nutrition. Most of the vitamins can not be made by the human body and therefore need to be obtained via foods and supplements. Some vitamins are fat soluble and some are water soluble.

Fat soluble vitamins are found mainly in fatty foods such as animal fats, vegetable oils, dairy foods, liver and oily fish. These fats are stored in the liver and fatty tissues for future use and there for when you need them. These vitamins are vitamin A, D, E & K. Too many fat soluble vitamins could be harmful.

Water soluble vitamins are found in fruit, vegetables and grains. Unlike fat-soluble vitamins, they can be destroyed by heat or by being exposed to the air; they can also be lost in the water used for cooking (this is why some raw foods daily can really enhance your vitamin intake and therefore health potential). This means that cooked food, especially boiled, will lose lots of these vitamins, the best way to keep as much of the vitamins as possible inside the food is to eat raw, lightly stir fry or steam, gently grill, or heat on a very low temperature for a longer period of time, any of these will help to contain the water soluble vitamins much more.

Water soluble vitamins are: vitamin B6, B12, C, Biotin, Folic Acid, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, and Riboflavin & Thiamin.

What are minerals?
Minerals are essential nutrients that our bodies needs, in varying amounts, to work optimally. Mineral nutrients consist of two categories: the major essential elements which are: calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, iodine, and potassium; and the trace elements such as: copper, cobalt, manganese, fluorine, iodine, Chromium, selenium and zinc. All of these must be supplied in our diet because the body is unable to manufacture its own and can only maintain its mineral balance for short periods of time.
Minerals can be found in varying amounts in a variety of foods such as meat, cereals (ie bread), fish, dairy foods, vegetables, fruit (especially dried fruit) and nuts.

Minerals are necessary for three main reasons, a) to build strong bones and teeth, b) to control body fluids inside and outside cells and c) to turn food we eat into energy.
The trace elements are also essential nutrients that your body needs to work properly, but these are needed in much smaller amounts. Trace elements are found in small amounts in a variety of foods such as meat, fish, cereals, milk and dairy foods, vegetables and nuts.

What is a free radical?
Free radicals are produced, like it or not, as the result of normal life and body functions such as breathing in and it is usual for the body natural defense system to neutralize the free radicals that are produced. With this processes of making them and removing them means that most of the time the free radicals are unable to cause lots of damage as the body is always dealing with them, but there are times when free radicals can overwhelm our bodies defence mechanisms, and can therefore cause damage to cells which can lead to illness and dis-ease.

Times when this may happen can be due to high levels of stress, excessive use of alcohol, shock and injury, UV radiation exposure, death, divorce, travelling (especially long haul) and exposure to pollutants.

But all is not lost! It is increasingly believed, researched and proven, that health nutrition can and does play an important part in helping protect against such free radical damage as we deal with free radicals with antioxidants.

What is an antioxidant?
An antioxidant is the body's natural defense against free radical damage, in other words, what we need to stop free radicals damaging our cells!

If you looked simply at good and bad, antioxidants are goodies and free radicals are baddies. Antioxidants are our friends and are obtained through our diets! This of course is why we need to be more and more aware of what we eat and what we need to get from our diets. Some of the the antioxidants that we need are Vitamins C & E, selenium and beta carotene, these can help prevent damage to our body cells and also repair damage that has already been done!

So antioxidants are knights in shining armor are not they! They battle and conquer the attack of free radicals and therefore keep us from ageing too fast or from unnecessary dis-ease!

Though antioxidants are produced naturally in the body this can become depleted through circumstance, diet, stress and unfortunately with age, so there is an increasing need to be more aware of where you get them and keep yourself topped up! Eating lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and nuts can supply all the antioxidants your body needs.

Conclusion!
So you see – nutrition and health are closely linked are not they – even if you only want to slow down your ageing process. Surely avoiding unnecessary disease and illness must be near the top of the list too and trigger some need to want to enhance your health and life through your diet!

I do not think you need to become anal or boring believe me, but with below I am listing top foods that can enhance your life for you! BUT – remember that you need to use your own instinct and intuition to feel and know what works right for you! What is right for the goose is not right for the gander!

Discover Fatigue Tiredness Reasons To Help Restore Your Energy Levels

Over the years, there has been an explosion of interest in wanting to learn more about fatigue tiredness reasons in order to restore energy levels. So, without further adieu, let’s go over some possible reasons for fatigue and/or tiredness.

First, fatigue that is not alleviated by rest or sleep, or resulting from insomnia has many possible causes. However, the most common reasons are anxiety and overworking. Other possible causes of persistent fatigue include:

  • Anemia.
  • Stress.
  • Depression.
  • An eating disorder.
  • Obesity.
  • Malnourishment.
  • Poor eating habits.
  • Underactive thyroid.
  • Certain medications.
  • Infection.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
  • Financial worries.
  • Environmental pollution.
  • Hormonal changes.
  • Caffeine abuse.
  • Lack of exercise.
  • Divorce.
  • Small children.
  • Certain illnesses.

As we mentioned earlier, there are many fatigue tiredness reasons, meaning causes so this list is not exhaustive. On the other hand, these are some very common reasons. Therefore, the first step in trying to combat fatigue is to take a personal inventory and begin to reduce them. Most often, more than one factor is involved. Moreover, it’s important to note that when your body is lacking good nutrition many of these fatigue tiredness reasons (causes) can even take a bigger toll as to how tired you feel.

So, when should you seek medical help?

  • If your fatigue worsens or persists in spite of home treatments.
  • If your fatigue is sudden or persistent, despite adequate rest.

Dietary Suggestions To Help You Combat Some Of Those Controllable (Non Medical) Fatigue Tiredness Reasons

To boost physical and mental energy…

  • Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet. In addition, focus on increasing fruits and vegetables, whole grain foods, low fat dairy products and lean meats.
  • Reduce the amount of high fat, high sugar, and high salt foods.
  • Limit your alcohol and caffeine intake.
  • Eat breakfast. A carbohydrate-rich breakfast is a good choice such as cereals or whole grain bread. Breakfast refills our energy stores.
  • Eat small amounts of food throughout the day and choose carbohydrates and protein for those mini-meals. This will help keep sugar and energy levels from plummeting.
  • Drink eight-8 ounces of cool, refreshing, pure, filtered water daily. When your body is water deprived, you’re energy is deprived. Therefore, water fights fatigue.

Lifestyle Suggestions To Help You Combat Some Of Those Controllable (Non Medical) Fatigue Tiredness Reasons

  • Refresh yourself with sleep. The body needs 8 hours of rest.
  • Step up fun. Laughter is an excellent energy booster.
  • Reduce stress and deal with anger. Learn or find the time to relax since, as we all know, a hectic lifestyle is exhausting. Anger is also an energy zapper. You may want to try meditation, yoga, aromatherapy, listening to music, reading a novel, or even just talking on the phone.
  • Exercise. Do you know that a 10 minute brisk walk can energize you for 2 hours? Needless to say, increasing physical activity, especially brisk walking increases energy levels.

Dietary Supplements Suggestions To Help Combat Fatigue Tiredness Reasons

If a full medical evaluation is completed and no major causes of your fatigue and/or tiredness are found, you may want to consider supplements to boost energy levels.

First, we believe you should consider taking a high quality multi nutrient supplement that includes a broad spectrum of nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, bioflavonoids, carotenoids, herbal extracts, enzymes and other complementary co-factor ingredients. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids such as the well renowned fish oil supplement energizes mood as these fatty acids are essential for proper brain function. In fact, depressed people demonstrate lower levels of these essential fatty acids. Fish oil supplements may help the “moody blues.”

Why a multi nutrient supplement?

We believe you need the entire team on the field first before you try to recruit individual energy boosting nutrients. Put simply, it helps to correct nutritional deficiencies and, as such, may help combat fatigue when combined with a health enhancing lifestyle.

So, what are some other possible energy boosting nutrients?

The B vitamins — Vitamin C — NADH (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) — Magnesium –Bee Pollen –MSM –DMAE — L-Carnitine

However, it’s important to note that the buzz about bee pollen is that this natural energy boosting substance contains all of the nutrients needed to sustain life. As such, it is often referred to as Nature’s Superfood. Therefore, we believe bee pollen is certainly worth a try to help combat fatigue and tiredness.

What about herbs to help combat those controllable (non-medical) fatigue tiredness reasons?

If a full medical evaluation is completed and no major causes of your fatigue and/or tiredness are found, you may want to consider herbs to boost energy levels.

Indeed, there are several herbs that may help combat fatigue and boost energy levels such as Maca, Tongkat Ali, Gingko biloba, and Gotu kola. However, an all-time champ is Ginseng. In fact, Siberian ginseng is often used to treat chronic fatigue syndrome. Siberian ginseng enhances the body’s ability to cope with stress and is highly respected as a very potent energy enhancer.

Is Marijuana Good For Your Health?

Yes marijuana is good for your health. Medical marijuana that is. Today there is increasing interest in the use of medical marijuana for treating everything from cancer to menstrual cramps and migraine headaches. People who wouldn’t be caught dead using marijuana are now interested in medical marijuana because it may be able to save their lives.

Medical professionals worldwide have used marijuana for millennia to treat a variety of ailments. Modern medicine men are begrudgingly beginning to acknowledge medical marijuana can aid in the treatment and cure of many diseases.

Earliest Usage

Marijuana, or more properly Cannabis Sativa, has been used for its medicinal properties for over 5,000 years. Its earliest documented use is in China. In the 28th Century B.C. the Chinese Emperor Shen-Nung prescribed marijuana for gout, beriberi, constipation, ‘female weakness’, rheumatism and malaria among other ailments. In 2,000 B.C. physicians in Egypt were prescribing marijuana for eye problems. In India in 1,000 B.C. marijuana was being used as an anesthetic and an anti-phlegmatic and Hoa-Tho, a 2nd Century A.D. Chinese physician is reported to have used marijuana as an analgesic during surgery.

Modern Usage

Today in many parts of India and especially in Ayer Vedic medicine marijuana is used to treat a wide range of ailments. It is also used as a sedative, an analgesic, an anti-hemorrhoidal and an antispasmodic.

One might infer marijuana is only used in ‘backward’ Asian countries with no knowledge of modern medical practices, But one would be wrong. Napoleon’s army used it to treat burns, as a sedative and as a pain reliever. In the United States in 1961 the National Institute of Mental Health did a study that indicated marijuana could be used for epilepsy, infant convulsions, treatment of tetanus, convulsions of rabies, treatment of depression, as a sedative and hypnotic in relieving anxiety and has antibiotic properties.

Today physicians prescribe medicinal marijuana to stimulate the appetite of AIDS patients, treat glaucoma and multiple sclerosis and reduce nausea for cancer patients. The British House of Lords in a 2001 report stated marijuana could be used to treat migraine headaches, schizophrenia, asthma, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and general pain. Doctors also acknowledge it can help to treat high blood pressure.

Medical Marijuana Movement

There is a major movement, particularly in California, to make medicinal marijuana readily available to patients through medicinal marijuana stores. California medicinal marijuana dispensaries and medicinal marijuana clinics, many of which are run by medicinal marijuana collectives and marijuana doctors, seek to make medicinal marijuana available to patients with medical weed cards that legally allow them to receive medical marijuana strains to treat a variety of illnesses. Medical marijuana is truly becoming a herb for the healing of the nation.

Complementary Medicine in the Modern Age

Students of the modern age are not always necessarily "scholars;" in fact, students are both teachers and patients, alike, who are trying to find holistic and alternative means to traditional healthcare. Complementary medicine is one of the largest growing facets in the modern world, and the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) has begun to take note of its evolutional affects on mainstream medicine.

The interesting aspect of complementary medicine is that it is an umbrella term for numerous marvels of modern medicine. Some of the most innovative healing methods and even ancient healing arts from around the world have been integrated into the field.

Today, treatments with acupuncture, herbal medicine, chelation therapy, chiropractic, homeopathy, and massage therapy, among others, are just some of the diverse therapies available within the scope of complementary medicine.

A few years back, the safe and noninvasive treatment of acupuncture was researched by the National Institutes for Health (NIH). Their findings were promising. Studies demonstrated that acupuncture is effective in pain relief for several health conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, menstrual cramps, fibromyalgia, stroke rehabilitation, and osteoarthritis, among other chronic pain conditions.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) currently has studies underway in homeopathy as well. One of the topics of interest includes the treatment for physical, mental and emotional symptoms of fibromyalgia.

Additional healthcare studies, like massage for the treatment of cancer pain; and herbal medicine, more precisely, mistletoe extract – used in conjunction with chemotherapy as a treatment for solid cancer tumors are ongoing clinical trials.

Often times, CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) therapies like acupuncture, massage therapy and chiropractic are covered by health insurance; but it is always wise to check with your insurance provider prior to scheduling an appointment.

As more patients are seeking non-invasive and drug-free treatments for common health disorders and conditions, complementary medicine is one of modern society's greatest advancements to the healthcare industry. Color : such color : as, there has been an Increase in Growth in alternative and complementary medicine schools ; including career-training and degree programs in acupuncture and Oriental medicine, massage, chiropractic medicine, and integrative medicine courses, among several others.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding complementary medicine schools, let career training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore career school programs near you.

Hair Growth Vitamins Are the Answer to Male Baldness

Warding off hair loss is a top priority for many men. Few things make a man look older than going bald, and when it begins happening, most men begin frantically searching for a cure – or at least for an effective treatment. Since many people misunderstand the causes of hair loss in men, they mistakenly think that hair growth vitamins are all that is necessary to prompt new hair to grow back in. That fact of the matter is that vitamin deficiencies are not generally the cause of hair loss in men. Any products that are marketed as hair growth vitamins are bound to end up disappointing you.

Using Natural Hair Growth Vitamins

While many products marketed as hair growth vitamins do not have what it takes to treat male pattern baldness, the proven products do. Incredibly, the best ones include many key vitamins and nutrients that are critical to improving a man's chances for regrowing his hair. However, rather than stop at simply using vitamins, many employ a twofold system that attacks the problem from multiple fronts. Its oral supplement goes after DHT – dihydrotestosterone, the culprit behind male pattern baldness. Since male pattern baldness is the most common cause of hair loss in men, this supplement works wonders.

A Dual Approach To Combating Hair Loss In Men

In addition to its specially formulated oral supplement – which inhibits the 5AR enzyme, the compound responsible for increased levels of DHT in the body – many of the best products include a topical serum which creates a suitable environment for new, fresh hair to grow back in . Between these two strategies, they offer benefits that other hair growth vitamins simply can not hope to match. In fact, if you've been wasting your time with hair vitamins, it's about time you put them down and ordered the top rated vitamin today.

No Prescription, No Worries

Procerin is exceptionally beneficial hair loss vitamin because it does not require a prescription. You can order it from the comfort of your own home, directly from the Internet. Unlike certain brands of hair vitamins, it does not cause any unpleasant side effects. More information on For Procerin and how it can help you, visit Www.procerin.com .

Spastic Diplegia – Symptoms and Treatment

One form of spastic cerebral palsy is known as spastic diplegia. This form is occasionally called Little's Disease and affects the movement of the upper or lower half of the body. Like other types of cerebral palsy, it is caused by damage to the brain. In many cases it is unknown how the damage was caused and it is there at birth.

Yet there are circumstances in which cerebral palsy is obtained after birth because of medical malpractice during the labor and delivery. Some known causes of cerebral palsy include lack of oxygen, infections to the baby or the mother that could have been prevented or other brain injuries like Hematoma that happen during a complicated labor.

Families of a child that has spastic cerebral palsy can talk to a lawyer and take action to be compensated for medical costs when their child's condition is caused by medical malpractice. Have your case looked at by a professional lawyer who deals with cerebral palsy cases right away.

Symptoms of Spastic Displegia

There are different symptoms which may vary from child to child and depend on how severe the condition is. However, there are some common characteristics, such as their muscle tone is tight because of this their muscles are contracted permanently. This is called hypertonia and it not only affects the limbs of the upper part of the body it also affects the legs.

A child may display the following symptoms:

* Muscle spasms that can not be controlled

* Joints do not have much range of motion

* Speaking and walking is hard

* Muscles are tight

* Irregular movements on the upper or the lower parts of the body

* Delays in development (ie: walking)

If your child displays any of the above signs, they need to be seen by a physician. Tests such as MRI, EEG, and CT scans will be run to determine whether your child has this form of cerebral palsy.

Treatment Options

Because there is no cure for spastic diplegia there are many treatments patients go through. Some common treatments are:

* Physical therapy it helps keep their muscles flexible and more range inn motion

* Medications such as Botox, to decrease muscle spasticity

* Surgery to control muscle spasticity

* Technology that helps individuals in mobility such as wheelchairs

These treatments not only help with spastic cerebral palsy, they help with the other types of spastic cerebral palsy such as spastic hemiplegia, spastic quadriplegia, and others

Does Your Child Have Spastic Diplegia?

It is possible you have a legal claim if there was medical malpractice or neglect that contributed to the condition of your child. Not every case is allowed compensation but if your child suffered from some of the following you may want to contact a lawyer. If you had a baby by C-section or the doctor had to use vacuum forceps, if your baby had severe jaundice, or had seizures after birth, even if your baby had an infection and was treated.

Reasons Why Laughter Is the Best Medicine

You must have heard since your childhood that “Laughter is the best medicine”. But in the modern competitive world, man people hardly care about the saying and believe that laughter has no major role in their health. But such people do not realize that they are making a grave mistake until simple moments of life make them realize the same. Laughter has got a major role in maintaining good health including a healthy mind. Many believe that laughter only acts as a temporary source of happiness. But laughter not only provides us with a source of happiness but also keeps away many diseases. There are many diseases and adverse conditions such as stress, fatigue etc. where laughter works better than any actual medicine. Here are a few points to show how laughter is the best medicine:

1. A recent study by cardiologists proved that a person who has a habit of laughing frequently has a lesser chance of facing a heart attack. Laughter might not be directly related to prevention of heart attack but it reduces mental stress. And mental stress results in impairment of the endothelium, the protective barrier lining our blood vessels. This in turn results in a series of reactions that result in building of fat and cholesterol in the arteries leading to heart attack. So, laughter indirectly also prevents heart attack.

2. Laughter decreases the chances of a stroke. This is because of the blood vessel expansion during laughing keeps away the possibility of stroke.

3. Laughing is believed to be a good cardio workout which increases flow of blood by about 22%. Watching a comedy movie resulting in a good dose of laughter is believed to give body the same effect provided during a 15-30 minutes workout.

4. The respiratory system acquires more air during laughter which is good for the body. This is due to the expansion of respiratory valves during laughter. It also helps our respiratory tract clean. Thus, laughter is a very good medicine for our breathing mechanism.

5. It is proved that laughing helps to control sugar level in the blood. So, if you have diabetes then try to enjoy life and laugh everyday. Because only medicines cannot control these sugar levels at times. Laughter and happiness have also been proven to helpful for diabetes patients.

6. It is believed that a stress free body will have less diseases. Laughing helps to create a stress free mind. It is said that there is no tension during laughter. And a relieved and stress free body results in a healthy body more often than not. So, it is not easy for diseases to affect a person who is happy and laughs everyday. So, laughter tends to be a cost free medicine for all kinds of ailments.

7. Laughter has no side effects for sure whereas all modern-day medicines have got some side effects. So, we can laugh without worrying about any harm caused to us. Laughter can never harm us but only help us all the time.

8. Laughter is also proven to enhance the facial beauty of a person. Laughter results in movements of the lips and the facial muscles. It has been observed that people who have a good sense of humor and who laugh everyday also have a beautiful face. Due to the amount of facial exercise in laughter there is good amount of blood circulation in the face resulting in a glowing face.

A happy mind leads to a happy body and soul. And there are hardly many things that can result in more happiness than a genuine dose of laughter. So, try to be happy and laugh every day of your life. It will release all the pressure and make this world a lot better place to live in for you as well as for others.

Getting the Whiter Smile

Have you ever wondered how celebrities get their teeth so perfectly white? Most movie stars have their teeth bleached in order to get that "mega watt" smile Today, you do not have to be Hollywood celebrity to achieve a whiter, brighter smile. But with the vast array of bleaching products available (both in office and over the counter), it can be confusing to select the right option.

The tooth is made of three layers the enamel (the outer layer), the dentin and the pulp (nerve and blood supply). Teeth staining can either be extrinsic (external) on the enamel or intrinsic (internal) m the denim. Certain foods and beverages, such as red wine, coffee, tea or soda can contribute to extrinsic staining. Smoking can also cause teeth to be discolored and turn a brownish color. Other contributing factors include the natural aging process and ingestion of certain antibiotics (like tetracycline).

Carbamide peroxide (the main component of bleaching products) helps to eliminate these stains and is usually dispensed in gel form. The gel is placed on your teeth, its whitening agents work by oxidizing the pigments that cause discoloration Only the tooth color is made lighter. with the tooth structure left intact. Some common side effects are tooth sensitivity, which typically disappears within one to three days

Grocery stores carry a variety of "bleaching kits." which are either the type you "paint" on teeth or are strips that you place on teeth for a set period of time The downside to these options are (with regard to the paint – on variety) that the teeth need to stay dry. If they become wet, the whitening effects are rendered ineffective. Likewise, the steps tend to fall off because they are best affixed to flat surfaces, and teeth are not flat. So what works?

The pair of whitening procedures found to be the most effective are take home trays and in office bleaching – both are administered by your dental professional.

The first comprise custom made trays that fit exactly to your teeth. Your dentist takes an impression of your teeth and makes a tray from the impression, which the patient receives with four bleaching syringes to take home. At home, you dispense the bleach into the tray and wear the tray for anywhere from one to two hours, depending on the degree of desired whitening. This process is repeated daily for up to two weeks. This procedure is effective, but not recommended for those who do not have the time to devote to the process or those who want immediate results.

For those individuals, in – office bleaching is the best alternative. The procedure, which takes about an hour, involves the application of a light activated bleaching gel. The benefit to this option is that a dental professional monitors the process so that teeth are bleached evenly with little or no risk of harming gum tissue. The net result is that teeth are up to six shades whiter and the benefits can last up to three years, depending on your oral hygiene.

The Essential First Aid Guide For External Bleeding

Bleeding can occur in all kinds of injuries. Whether it’s playing some kind of sport, in the kitchen cooking, a child playing or one of many other scenarios, accidents happen all the time. When one does occur we want to be prepared, we want to ensure that we know all there is to know about caring for the patient and treating the injury in the right manner. There are all kinds of external bleeding for instance a nose bleed, a cut from a kitchen knife, a cut or graze to the head as a result of a sports injury, or a more serious kind.

There are three types of external bleeding: Arterial, Venous, Capillary. Below is a guide that will help you to identify between them.

Arterial – This is a rapid bright red flow that may spurt, the cause of this is a very deep cut, laceration or puncture to the artery.

Venous – This is a rapid dark blood flow. The cause is a deep incision, avulsion or puncture of a vein.

Capillary – This is a slow, oozing blood flow. The cause is a light skin injury such as an abrasion or laceration.

How to treat an external bleed can be vital to the patience’s survival if the injury is a very serious one. Below is a step by step guide on what to look for, and how to treat an external bleed.

In the case of a severe bleed the correct procedure to follow is

1. Apply pressure to the bleed preferably over a pad and squeeze the edges of the wound together. Pressure should be firm and may cause slight discomfort to the patient. This will help to stem the flow and will help the blood to clot.

2. Raise and support the injured limb, again this will help to slow the flow of blood.

3. Lay the injured person down as this will help reduce the blood flow to the site and will also help to minimise shock.

4. Place a sterile dressing over the pad and bandage securely, too tight however can cause a problem with normal circulation.

5. If the bleed continues apply another bandage to the existing one.

6. Treat the injured person for shock.

7. In the case of a serious bleed get the injured person to a hospital

Remember

– Never attempt to pull out an object that has become embedded

– Never remove blood soaked bandages from a wound. Doing this may cause the bleeding to start up again

– Never give aspirin to someone with a severe bleed as this can cause increased bleeding

– Never apply a tourniquet. This can make bleeding worse and may even lead to tissue damage

No household, car, school, work place, sports club, gym or anywhere else for that matter, should be without a sports bag containing first aid kit equipment, as this is vital to help keep not only your patient safe but also yourself. All basic first aid kits should contain as a bare minimum

o Sterile swabs

o Plasters

o Nitrile or latex gloves

o Instant cold pack

o Crepe bandage

o Sterile dressing

o Triangular bandage

o Foil heat blanket

o Wound cleansing wipes.

So be prepared and make sure you are covered for every eventuality.

How Many Kinds of Cancer Cells Are There?

Learning more about cancer is an effective method for prevention on its own. The more you know the more likely you are to get frequent screenings and notice the symptoms early, if you fall ill. It is worth finding out more about the different kinds of cancer cells first.

Before you read any further it is worth looking at the definition of cancer. This disease is defined as the rapid and uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in an organ, gland or another type of body tissue. As these cells grow, they go on to form a larger formation called a tumor. It should be pointed out that cancer usually refers to malignant tumors and not to benign ones.

There are over 100 kinds of cancer cells that can affect each different part of the body, including organs, tissues and glands. It is worth pointing out that not all tumor cells that grow in a certain organ or gland are the same. For instance, there are a number of lung, liver and pancreatic cancers because the tumor cells can affect different parts of these organs. In these different parts the cells differ. Additionally, the change that goes on in the cell so that it becomes malignant can be different as well. If you take into account these changes to differentiate between the different kinds of cancer, their number can grow to over 200.

Each type of cancer bears the name of the organ or tissue it affects. For this reason, it is worth looking at the different types by looking at the different body systems and organs of the body that this dangerous disease can affect.

Starting from the head, the first kind of cancer in the list is brain cancer. Adults can get a condition called adult brain tumor that refers to a malignant growth in the brain. There are six other types of malignant tumors that affect primarily children. These include brain stem glioma and cerebellar astrocytoma.

Many people do not know this, but eye cancer also exists. Just like the skin tissue, the upper layer of eye tissue can be harmfully affected by the UV rays of the sun. In turn, intraocular melanoma can be developed. The other type of cancer that can affect the eyes is called retinoblastoma.

The cancers that can affect the mouth, throat and sinuses are commonly referred to as oral cancer. This type includes malignant tumors in the tongue and the lips. Other kinds of the disease that can affect the head and neck area include metastatic squamous neck cancer and salivary gland cancer.

Thyroid cancer is defined as a malignant tumor growing in this gland, which is situated in the lower part of the front neck. This condition is the most common kind of endocrine system cancer. Other less common conditions include adrenocortical carcinoma and pituitary tumor.

Breast cancer is one of the most common kinds of cancer. It affects over 200,000 women each year in the US alone. There are two main types ductal carcinoma in situ and lobular carcinoma in situ.

Lung cancer is the most common disease of this type. Its main cause is smoking. There are two major types – small cell and non-small cell.

Different types of cancer cells can affect all parts of the gastrointestinal system. The most common types include cancer of the esophagus, gallbladder, pancreas, liver, stomach, colon, rectum and anus.

There are also different kinds of malignant tumors that can affect different parts of the urinary tract. The most common diseases are kidney cancer and bladder cancer.

Diseases that can affect the male reproductive system include prostate cancer, an extremely common type, penile cancer and testicular cancer.

Almost all parts of the female reproductive system can be affected by this disease. The most common kinds of gynecological cancers include ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer and cervical cancer.

There are two main types of cancer that affect the blood. These are leukemia and lymphoma. The former can affect both adults and children while the latter typically occurs in adults.

Even though bone cancer is very rare, skin cancer is an extremely common condition. Melanoma is the most serious and dangerous kind of skin cancer.

There are many kinds of cancer. Some of them are less common while others affect hundreds of thousands of people a year. The optimistic news is that research is massive and continues to produce more and more promising results.

Cerebral Palsy Therapy

There are many forms of physical Cerebral Palsy therapy that can help reduce the disabilities associated with this disorder. Each person with Cerebral Palsy will often need a specialized kind of therapy.

The Maribelle exercise assist system, otherwise known as the MEAS is one option that people with Cerebral Palsy may be interested in and has had very beneficial results.

The MEAS is an exerciser that is suspended from the ceiling with a body support. This allows people that have little or no use of their legs to actually be put in an upright position (supported standing), or a sitting position where they can move or move with assistance. For example, swinging.

The benefits of this are many, including much enjoyment for the user just from being in an upright position, or from the swinging and other possible movements. Remarkably, the movements in the MEAS result in LESS spasticity! 3 to 5 minutes of gentle bouncing, followed by swinging, invariably will relax tight elbow joints and clenched hands will open up. The Neurophysiological reasons for this change have been well documented in research studies about using rebounders.

Progressive treatment goals, which have been achieved in varying degrees by the regular use of the MEAS in an eight week or longer program include:

1. Eye contact, tracking, eye-hand coordination, focusing, dramatically improved vision.

2. Increased attention span, improved learning skills.

3. Social awareness, interaction with peers, self confidence

4. Vocalization, improved speech.

5. Independent purposeful movement, muscle development.

6. Head Control, trunk balance, independent righting.

7. Improved circulation, improved bowel function.

8. Reduction in flexon spasticity, relaxed open hands.

9. Reduction in extension spasticity, less startle reflex

10. Release of frustration, improved morale, enjoyment.

11. Easier to feed after exercise, better appetite

12. Self feeding, finger foods, spoon, fork.

13. Desensitization of skin areas, particularly the soles of the feet, starting by letting the user splash their feet in warm water, shaving foam etc.

14. Crawling, independent mobility, knee walking, running.

15. Reduction of Athetoid movements allowing the person to control their electric wheel chair independently after exercising in MEAS

Therapists have reported that clients who were fearful when they were placed in a hammock are much less afraid of doing Sensory Integration and Vestibular Stimulation techniques using MEAS.

Meas is used for

* Sensory integration

* Vestibular stimulation

* Gait training

* Desensitizing soles of feet

* Occupying a child while tube feeding to distract the child from yanking tubes

* Encouraging weight bearing in hypertonic children

* Allows wheelchair-bound adults to move in upright position.

* Early recovery periods after injuries

Besides Cerebral Palsy, the Maribelle exercise assist system will also be of benefit for people with

* Low muscle tone

* Poor balance

* Spastic cerebral palsy (CP)

* Impaired vision/blindness

* Fearfulness & insecurity

* Sensory deprivation

* Hemiplegia

* Athetoid cerebral palsy (CP)

* Congenital dislocated hips

* Leg length discrepancy

* Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS)

* Limited motor abilities

* Failure to thrive

* Poor head control

* Hyposensitive vestibular systems

* Cerebral cortical atrophy

* Hydrocephaly

* Agenisis of corpus collosum

* Microcephalic

* Developmental delay

* Intractable seizure condition

* Epilepsy

* CDH (congenital diaphragmatic hernia)

* Deafness

* Scoliosis.

Nephrosis – Kidney Disorder A

Nephrosis is a medical term for kidney disease. Occasionally also called nephrotic syndrome or nephropathy. Nephrosis has many likely causes. It is generally detected by the outcomes of a urine test, and although treatment diverges with the cause, nephrosis frequently needs life long treatment with the expectation of preventing lasting kidney failure.

Nephrosis is a kidney disease typified by lesions of the epithelial lining of the renal tubules. The lesions lead to a trouble in the filtration function of the kidney. Consequently, large amounts of protein are discovered in the urine.

Nephrosis refers to a kidney disorder that revealed to: a massive leak of protein into the urine; a low blood level of albumin because of the great amounts lost in the urine; an augmented level of cholesterol in the blood; and retention of fluid in the body leading to swelling.

It could distress all age groups. The symptoms of nephrosis are frequently not outward. But it consists of high protein levels in the urine, low blood protein levels, high cholesterol and edema, or swelling. A number of outward symptoms can comprise difficulty with or a lessening of urination and in children repeated accidents and difficulty with toilet training could denote kidney disease. The other outward symptoms are swelling of the ankles, fingers or face from fluid retention.

Nehprosis can be concluded by the outcomes of regular urine testing. Other tests are typically done following the urinalysis to assist settle on the cause. In numerous cases, nephrosis is secondary to a disease that distresses main body organs. Diabetes, lupus, and some cancers could lead to kidney disease, or it can be an inherited circumstance. In a number of cases, nephrosis is the outcome of infection or drug usage.

Nephrosis is a rather rare disorder. It can be predictable that in an region with a population of approximately 7 million, there are roughly 50 to 60 children and teenagers with this disorder at any one time, and that over the course of a year, 20 to 25 new patients will be detected (or about 2 out of every 100,000 children age 16 or less will grow this condition each year). Nephritic syndrome could start at any age though minimal change, and children between the ages of 2 and 6 years are most frequently distressed. It is less usual in older children and uncommon in adults. Boys are more often involved than girls.

Nephrosis may be a complex disease that brings risks and problems to other organs like the heart. The best way for treatment is preventing kidney disease from developing, but a number of patients with kidney disease will ultimately loose their kidney function. Dialysis or transplant might be the end result. Patients with kidney disease ought to not take individual medications. If you distrust complications with your kidneys, you must visit your doctor.
