The 3 Cs of a Healthy Life

If you are ready to focus on losing weight and getting in shape, let's address the 3 Cs of a healthy life which are Courage, Change, and Choices. An easy way to remember the 3 Cs of a healthy life is with this simple sentence: To develop a healthy life you need to have the courage to change the choices you face. Does that sound like something you're up for? Let's dive into each one of these topics to see just what they actually entail so you can have as much success on this often difficult endeavor.

The 3 C's of a Healthy Life

The Courage To Develop a Healthy Life

One of the first most important fundamental necessities to develop a healthy life is courage. Courage is of utmost importance since you will need to face some issues that will likely make you feel uncomfortable. You will be purposely forcing yourself to confront topics you have likely avoided in the past which is why you reached the weight amount you are today.

For example, you will need to have courage to get off the couch, put some tennis shoes on and get outside to walk or run for an hour 3-5 days a week. You will have to have courage to cook a healthy meals for lunch or dinner in your own kitchen. It takes a hefty amount of courage in order to effectively deal with weight loss on a daily basis.

Changing To A Healthy Life

Once you've determined you have the courage to give this weight loss process an honest effort, the next item of business is the fact that changes must be made in your life. Gaining weight is generally the result of taking in far too many calories than your body needs on a regular basis along with not consistently getting a sufficient amount of exercise. These are the specific areas that need to be addressed and turned into moments that will be beneficial for your health.

You have to be willing to change a number of aspects in your life if you want to have any chance of successfully losing weight. Changing from soda to water. Changing from enormous fast food meals to home-cooked, appropriately portioned meals. Changing from potato chip snacking to almonds with raisins. These are the changes you need to have the courage to make.

The Choices In A Healthy Life

Once you have the courage to tackle the weight loss process and are willing to make specific changes in how you live your life, the final step is to deal with are the many choices you'll be confronted with on a day-to-day basis . This may be the toughest part of this whole endeavour since there are quite a number of choices that you'll have to make each and every day.

Think about everything that has happened today since you woke up this morning. There have likely been 5-10 choices related to nutrition and exercise you had to decide on since getting out of bed. Here are some likely choices you've dealt with:

– Should I wake up early to run before work?
– What to eat for breakfast?
– Should I snack while watching TV?
– What will I have for lunch?
– Should I get something from the vending machine at break?
– Stop on the way home from work and pick up fast food or a pizza?
– Snack on this bag of chips while driving to work?

Each one of these choices will have an effect on your weight loss efforts. The effect will be a positive one if you make controlled, conscientious decisions. The effect may be negative if you do not maintain self-control and a strong willpower.

It's all on your shoulders to make the right choices that will benefit your health and in turn help you lose that excess weight. This process takes time so stick with the 3 C's of a healthy life and you will reach your goal.

Discover Yourself

Discovering yourself is one of the most important tasks of living. To reach that goal and discover what you are really like people usually refer to simple personality tests. Personality tests are severely limited and will only explain a portion of the answers you are seeking. There is a more in-depth way at looking at yourself and how you fit into this world, and that was is through finding out what your Dosha is. The word Dosh or Dosha is used within the context of Ayurveda which is an ancient Indian medical system that has been in practice for thousands of years. In essence the Dosha is a makeup of all 5 elements within our universe (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Space), these elements are then broken down even further into a form called bio-energies which are essentially the 5 elements paired together differently to make 3 bio-energies (Doshas). The bio-energies are referred to as Pitta [Fire & Water], Vata [Space & Air], and Kapha [Water & Earth].

Discovering which Dosh you are primarily will answer your question to "why am I the way I am?". Taking a dosha quiz will tell you what type of personality you are, the types of things that can make you imbalanced or balance you, as well as other mental, physical, and emotional traits. The results to these tests can make you more thoroughly understand who you are as a person and be more in touch with your true self.

It is very important to discover which Dosha you prior to beginning any type of Ayurvedic diet or regime, so that you will not imbalance or further harm your health. The best test is performed by an Ayurvedic Practitioner who will perform a consultation that includes background history, basic questionnaire, and a pulse diagnosis. We have just added a thorough questionnaire to this website which has been labelled as our "Dosha Quiz". This quiz allows you to choose the answer most like yourself so that your Dosha can be identified. The link to the quiz is here or it is also found above on the top menu for your convenience.

Please take the time to take the quiz if you have not already visited an Ayurvedic Practitioner, as this will be your primary step. I perform consultations during my Shirodhara sessions as well and will provide you with your Dosha information on my initial visit. If you need an Ayurvedic Practitioner for any medical reasons besides the therapies I provide then please contact me. I have connections with several Ayurvedic Practitioners and would be more than happy to suggest someone to you if you have any health concerns.

Safe Treatment For Genital Herpes – Are Over-the-Counter Drugs Safe and Effective?

Many medical experts were left dumbfounded by how covertly this HSV-2 virus, the one responsible for causing genital herpes spreads. Until now little is known why this virus cannot be cured. It is only known that this virus can be “latent” for a very long time, but what is the cause of its latency is still vague. It seems that this aspect of the virus itself is not very concerning that the trend among medical experts was to find a medicine that could cure it or at least counter its effects.

Successful Claims

A handful of over-the-counter medicines are already available right now in the market. Each of them claiming and trying to incorporate them-selves with the highest credit that herpes antidote has reached by now. All of them claiming to be the most successful but the question that is frequently raised towards these breakthrough medicines is that, how effective are they in combating herpes virus? And, are they safe?

Well the most likely who can answer these questions are the ones prescribing and assessing the victims directly, the doctors, together with the firsthand accounts of those victims who had already experienced the healing power of such medicines.

The effectiveness of a medicine is directly proportional to the tolerance or resistance of a patient towards that certain medicine prescribed to him by his physician. It also depends on the current bodily situation and the current state or extent of the damage caused by the infection, as in the case of genital herpes that the medicine would prove successful. In other words, the safeness and effectiveness of each of the over-the-counter anti-herpes drugs is very subjective. A treatment regimen intended for those herpes victims having a compromised immune system would be very dangerous or otherwise no effect at all when used to treat those with normal body conditions, and vice versa.

Over-the-counter Safety

As the term implies, over-the-counter drugs could be purchased even without prescription from a doctor per se. It doesn’t need any permission also from anybody that’s why any herpes victim can readily acquire his/her medicine without any restriction at all. The reason for these kinds of medicines to be unrestricted is that they all passed a minimum safety requirement, the set standard of safety for the majority of people, that’s why they were generally safe at all.

When it comes to its effect, over-the-counter drugs for genital herpes depend on how bad the extent of the infection itself. Some infected persons naturally heal faster than others that’s why it is relative to say that safety and effectiveness of this kind of drug in relation to herpes depends greatly on the current infection state, the more early the infection is treated, the more effective and safe the medicine is.

Homeopathic Medicine Offers Hope to People Suffering From Chronic Health Problems

In the United States, conventional Western medicine is often costly, impersonal and treats only symptoms rather than the patient as a whole person. Although modern hospitals, treatments, medical technology and doctors are responsible for saving hundreds of thousands of lives each year, naturopathic remedies such as homeopathic medicine are becoming increasingly popular among people with chronic or long term health problems.

Homeopathic medicine can be extremely effective in the treatment of various chronic issues such as:

– Fatigue

– Swollen glands

– Asthma

– Ear infections

– Upper respiratory infections

– High blood pressure

– Sprains

– Strains

– ADHD (attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder)

– Arthritis

– Eczema

– Inflammatory bowel disease

– Premenstrual syndrome

– Post-traumatic stress and more.

According to an article titled "Homeopathy: The Controversial Cure", published in the January / February 2006 issue of Ode Magazine, writer Kim Ridley states, "Today it is the most widely used form of alternative medicine in the world, according to the World Health Organization. Approximately 500 million people worldwide receive homeopathic treatment. " She continues to explain that homeopathic remedies are popular in India, Europe, South Africa and Brazil. "In France, approximately 40 percent of the public has used homeopathic remedies. In the Netherlands, almost half of Dutch physicians consider homeopathic remedies effective, and in Britain, visits to homeopaths are growing by nearly 40 percent a year. In the United States, the number of people using homeopathy increased by an estimated 500 percent during the 1990s, "Ridley continues.

Homeopathy's Role in Conventional and Holistic Health Care

Homeopathic medicine was introduced to the mainstream by German physician Samuel Hahnemann in the 1700's. He identified that homeopathic remedies encourage the body to heal itself through the "law of similars". For example, if large quantities of a plant cause particular symptoms, a small amount of that same plant can be used to provoke the body's natural defenses and treat the symptoms. Hahnemann tested over 200 homeopathic medicines and developed a controversial theory that the healing power of substances increases as they become more diluted. In 1844, conventional medicine began to understand homeopathic medicine was its top competitor. The American Institute of Homeopathy was established and two years later the American Medical Association (AMA) formed in response. In 1855 the AMA then created a policy to expel any physicians consulting homeopaths or using homeopathic remedies. This move to discredit homeopathic medicine was eventually successful and by 1922, out of 22 homeopathic colleges in the United States, only 2 remained.

The Controversy of Homeopathic Medicine

Many holistic healers and naturopathic physicians recommend homeopathic remedies to patients because of the gentle nature of the treatments. Side effects are almost never found with homeopathic medicine. Homeopathy strives to make the individual person the focus of treatment, not the illness. So, if homeopathic medicine has shown proven results in the treatment of various illnesses and disease and is essentially harmless, why are so many conventional Western physicians against the use of homeopathy? There is a heated debate in the medical profession about the validity of homeopathy. Homeopathic medicines include such small amounts of substances like plants, animals and minerals that active ingredients are not present. This allows medical scientists to declare homeopathic treatment less tangible and therefore invalid.

The British Medical Journal, The Lancet, published a lead editorial in issue 366 based on an analysis completed by Aijing Shang, Matthias Egger and other professionals at the University of Berne in Switzerland. After conducting 8 placebo-controlled trials with homeopathy and 6 with traditional medicine it was concluded that homeopathic medicines perform no better than placebos and have no value as a healing treatment. It is suggested that patients who experience healing from homeopathy convince themselves psychologically and mentally that the medicine will work. However, in 1997 The Lancet also published studies completed by Dr. Wayne Jonas, director of the Samueli Institute of Information Biology in Alexandria, Virginia and former director of both the National Institutes of Health's Office of Alternative Medicine and the World Health Organization's Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine. Jonas analyzed 89 studies and reported that homeopathic medicines were 2.5 times more effective than placebos.

Today, the debate rages on and medical researchers, conventional doctors, naturopathic physicians and holistic heath care professionals all take individual stands based on medical knowledge and experience. Ode Magazine writer Kim Ridley states, "Homeopathy defies explanation by conventional science, a valid point that skeptics make over and over again. How can a remedy that might not contain a single molecule of the original substance have any effect at all?" However, she also recognizes Dr. Wayne Jonas' s idea that, "There are many things we deliver in conventional medicine that we have no idea why they work, or even if they work, but we still allow them and we still continue to research them."

The debate about homeopathic medicine and holistic health care may never be resolved, but when patients experience healing it is essential that every potential treatment is explored. Homeopathy is safe and has been used successfully by people from all around the world. It has a place in both conventional and natural medicine. For the sake of patients everywhere, hopefully holistic and medical physicians will learn to embrace the benefits of homeopathic medicine.

Health Problems Due To Vitamin Deficiency

In this article you will discover ailments that occur when your body lacks important vitamins and which of these vitamins you can use to reverse deficiency diseases.

I will like to start with Vitamin A.

The following will be the experience if your body lacks Vitamin A

You will suffer:

1. Excess discharge of pus from ear or virginal

2. Eye problems

3. Skin rashes-dry and rough skin

4. Poor growth for children

5. Viral infection that does not respond to treatment

6. Frequent cold and fever

7. Lack of sleep

8. Night blindness

9. Unnecessary weight loss

10. Infertility or not easy to get pregnant

11. Tuberculosis

12. Deform teeth

13. Respiratory infections like cough, asthma, sneezing without end

Vitamin A in combination with Vitamin D will help the body absorb Vitamin A better. This will reverse the above problems.

Prevention is better than waiting for deficiency to show up but if you are already having any of the above health problems, you may be required to take it for 6 weeks or more.

Vitamin A side effect: If you take this vitamin for a very long time it can lead to some uncomfortable effect like hair loss, itching, joint pain, birth defect, crack and scales on lips. But you can also get Vitamin A from Carotenoids. These nutrients do not have any side effect when use for long period.

If you plan to use this vitamin, look for the type that has the combination of D and naturally prepared type so as to get the best result.

Vitamin B.

Let us talk about Vitamin B and its members. As the body age, the rate of absorbing vitamin B from food will be reduced. This means you will need outside source of this vitamin to compensate the shortage. Shortage of this vitamin usually shows up around the age of 35. People of that age and above should supplement their diet with B vitamins.

At other times, when diet is poor, the deficiency of this vitamin will show up earlier than expected.

There will be deficiency symptoms of this vitamin to tell the body of its shortage before these symptoms turns to serious disease.

If you lack Vitamin B and its members, you will suffer the following or experience health problems mentioned below. You need to take vitamin B in combination with calcium, vitamin C or Vitamin E for proper assimilation and reverse deficiency symptoms.

Lack of Vitamin B and its members will show up as:

1. Stress feelings

2. Enlarged liver

3. Nervousness

4. Tiredness or fatigue

5. Insomnia lack of good night sleep

6. Mental disorders

7. Dizziness, headaches and poor digestion

8. Retarded growth in children

9. Epilepsy

10. Anemia and poor appetite

11. Constipation

12. Hair loss, Acne or scaly and rough skin, and premature grey hair

13. Depression and being sad all the time

14. Dandruff and Candida problems

15. Crack mouth sore or around the eyes, nose, inflamed red tongue

16. Numbness of arms and legs, memory loss

17. Convulsion

18. Lack of development of fetus

19. Burning feet or abdominal pains

20. Blood sugar problems

This vitamin is water soluble and so very fragile. Due to this nature it cannot be stored in the body. You need to get it daily and should come from your foods but preparation and over processing of foods have stripped it from most foods. This vitamin detoxifies body of toxins, mercury; lead etc. City dwellers need it every day to help fight air pollution. Since it can’t be gotten from most foods, you need to supplement it from naturally prepared type of food supplements.

The following are problems link to lack of Vitamin C in the body:

1. Problematic teeth, gums and eyes, reasons people lose their teeth.

2. Poor healing of wound and poor breast milk

3. Poor digestion and low blood sugar

4. Bleeding gum- as seen when you brush your teeth

5. Blood pressure

6. Asthma

7. Vision problems

8. Cancer

9. Body pains

10. Infection

11. Breathing problem

12. Womb problem

13. Frequent bruising

14. High cholesterol

If you take fruits and vegetable in raw form, you may be able to get Vitamin C but most of these fruits and vegetables have lost this vitamin due to preservatives or long stay on the shelf before it got to you. Therefore if the above mention health problems shows up or you notice that you suffer any of the above mentioned ailments; you will need to add naturally prepared type of Vitamin C supplement to raw fruits and vegetable so as to reverse that health problem. For fast result get the type without preservatives and is prepared in a way to last longer in the body- the type that can stay 6 hours in the body is better.

A study at Cambridge University some years ago shows that Vitamin E in (400-800mg) can reduce the risk of heart disease up to a massive 75%. With this assurance let us get to know some of the problems we can experience if there is lack of Vitamin E in our body.

When talking about Vitamin E, we want to take note that there are natural Vitamin E and Synthetic Vitamin E. It has been confirmed that the natural Vitamin E is the best and in fact can do the job of Vasoprin (blood thinner drug) better.

You will experience the following health problems if your body lacks Vitamin E:

1. Ulcer

2. Low sperm count

3. Heart disease

4. Short breath and leg ramps

5. Allergies/inflammation

6. Epilepsy

7. Stretch marks

8. Prostrates cancer for smokers

9. Early sign of aging (premature aging)

10. Spontaneous abortion (miscarriage)

11. Hot flushes and menopausal aging spot

12. Cold hands and feet (as in diabetic patient)

13. Blood clot and high cholesterol

14. Lack of proper circulation in the body

15. Cataracts

16. Anemia

17. Angina pain (strong chest pain)

18. Lack of energy (sport men/women need it)

Vitamin E has been found to protect against 80 diseases and if you must take Vitamin E for any reasons use the natural Vitamin E as it provides better result than Synthetic Vitamin E (dI-alpha).

Things To Know About Ambulatory Surgery Center Billing

Ambulatory surgery is also known as outpatient surgery. This is a type of surgery that can be done in a doctor's office or in a surgery center without the need for long-term care of overnight stays. Taking that into account, the costs that are associated with ambulatory surgery center billing are typically much lower than their more complicated counterparts. This is due to the high cost of overnight hospital stays and all of the costs that are associated with the long-term care.

Things to Know

Here are a few things to remember:

• They are people – These are just people doing their jobs. There is no need to berate them if things are not going your way with the bills.

• There are always hidden fees – There is always going to be something on one of the bills that you did not expect to be there. This could be as small as the pair of forceps sitting in your room during the surgery or as large as an extra doctor being on staff because of a complication during the procedure.

• Lower costs – The costs of ambulatory surgeries and other small outpatient procedures are much lower in comparison to the larger costs associated with long-term stays or surgical procedures that are more involved.

• Faster turnaround – The faster turnaround that is involved with outpatient procedures means that the billing cycles for these types of procedures are also going to be shorter. It is possible to pay for many ambulatory surgical procedures the same day that they are performed. Many people prefer this option simply to avoid having staggered bills arriving at their house.

• Outsourced billing – The billing centers are On Often simply fronts : outsource That hwy actual billing and maintenance Procedures to : other companies. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it can definitely make dealing with the situation a bit more frustrating than it needs to be.

• Insurance concerns – Insurance is always going to play a huge role in any type of medical procedure. The high costs of virtually every single thing in the medical field almost necessitate that a person have insurance to get any meaningful care. With that being said, insurance companies are much more likely to approve outpatient procedures than some other types of surgeries. They are likely to deal with the issue faster than they would otherwise as well.

Final Thoughts

Dealing with ambulatory surgery center billing is easier than dealing with the billing departments of larger hospitals. They are often more willing to work with their patients in order to help lower costs due to a lower operating overhead. Even so, these are still medical billing facilities and all of the frustrations that would accompany a larger hospital billing department are still present. Insurance plays a similar role in outpatient procedures that they would play otherwise, though they are usually quicker to act and the costs associated with the procedures are lower.

Herbal Medicine – Part I – Historical and Philosophical Background

Herbal medicine has been around since before recorded history. Cave paintings in France, radiocarbon-dated to before 13,000 BC, show the use of plants as healing agents. Herbalism was intimately connected to religious practices, and was frequently the jealously-guarded preserve of shamans, or "witch doctors". The use of herbs as medicine pervades all cultures.

The earliest written records date back over 5000 years in Western culture to the Sumerian civilization. In the East, the Siddha, Unani and Ayurvedic systems from India arose long before the Christian era, and are still practiced today. And traditional Chinese herbology is still thriving as well.

Africa has a long history of herbal remedies, strongly influenced by its links with trading partners from both East and West. Native Americans hold to the belief that illness is caused by a disturbance in one's balance with nature, and can be cured by rituals that often include the use of herbal medicines.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 80% of the world's population uses herbal medicine for some aspect of primary health care. Many pharaceuticals being used today by physicians were originally used as herbal remedies, including aspirin, digitalis, and quinine. In recent years, scientists have been searching all over the world for natural sources of phytochemicals that might be developed into treatments for various diseases. The WHO estimates that 25% of drugs presently in use in the US were derived from plants.

Despite the fact that herbal medicines have a long history of use, the fact that in most cases their effectiveness has not been scientifically proven has led to a controversy between herbalists and mainstream medicine. In Western culture, the rise of modern medical practice brought with it a decline in the use of herbal medicines. This gave rise to the notion that such remedies were nothing more than "old wives tales." In recent years, however, herbalism has come to be recognized by many as an alternative, or sometimes complementary method of treatment.

In my research for this article, I discovered that there are basically four groups, each espousing differing points of view regarding the use of herbal remedies: 1) herbalists, 2) pharaceutical manufacturers, sometimes aided by physicians, 3) vitamin and mineral supplement manufacturers , with some help from herbalists, and 4) governmental institutions.

I will try not to take sides here. There is no need for animosity between these factions. In all that I have read, there is a concern for the safety and well-being of those who would use herbal remedies. But each group has its own vested interest which slants its perspective to more or less of a degree.

To be continued …

In the next installment, I will describe the viewpoints of the four factions above. References will be given to websites which illustrate the ideas presented.

Dr Butcher MD AKA Zombie Holocaust

He's a depraved, sadistic rapist; A bloodthirsty, homicidal killer … and He Makes House Calls!

When you hear the words Doctor Butcher MD, several different thoughts can be going through your head. Those few simples words may bring back images of the 1982 premiere at many of the seedy 42nd street theatres, or the flatbed Butcher mobile driving up and down the streets of Jersey and Manhattan. Posters of the mad doctor fill the walls of the old movie house. Cheesy lobby cards lie to your right on a little stool as you walk past the concession stand. The smell of cheap cigars, stale whiskey, and schwag fill your nostrils as you enter the room where the movie is about to begin. You walk through the rows of seats hoping to find one without a partially used syringe or dampened with fluid from someone who watched the latest John Holmes film an hour earlier. Once the movie begins all your fears and paranoia start to go away. Your sucked into the dementia of bad acting, cheesy effects, and the long legs of Alexandra Delli Colli.

Your first presented with terrible acts of corpse mutilation which the actors like to call "cannibalism", then were presented with the undying question "How much are we really like savages". Lori Ridgeway the anthropologist / doctor meets up with Peter Chandler the health inspector whose job is to get down to the bottom of these bizarre acts. He soon organizes a trip to Keto and asks for Lori's assistance. The health inspector, his assistant, the anthropologist, and a reporter set off to the distant island and are introduced Dr. Obrero whose been doing studies there for many years. On the island of Keto they run into a savage sect of native cannibals who attack the porters and eat them alive … hence cannibalism. Your probably asking where the zombies come into play but their just around the corner. Dr. Obrero, who you've noticed is rather strange, has reason to believe that their visit on his island is one that can interrupt the progression of his current experiment. What is that experiment you ask .. "ever wandered what its like to pass from life to death, and from death to life"? Maybe you have not but the good ole doctor has been conforming these natives back to their cannibalistic ways and promising them divine tendencies if they offer to give him their assistance … or shall i say bodies. The zombies you encounter towards the end of the movie are natives who have been killed and had their brains transplanted into other healthier bodies. After everyone's been eaten only Lori and Peter are left. Lori who lived their years earlier as a child, is captured by the natives later to be let go when they find out that she is their queen. With the help of the savages Lori ends up at Dr. Obrero's laboratory where Peter is about to become chop suey. Peter frees himself, kills the doctor & his assistant then burns the zombies. Within the blink of an eye you see Lori dressed in a see through garment (wonder where she got it from … all the natives are wearing grass and bamboo) and has the natives destroy the lab. The End

-This Italian horror movie features cannibals and zombies. Just be happy that this is one doctor that even your HMO will not cover.

In all this is more of your normal cannibal romp in the woods. The zombies are only a small portion of the film. Originally titled Zombie Holocaust and directed by Marino Girolami in 1979. The US rights to the film were purchased by Aquarius Releasing's Terry Levene who entitled it Dr. Butcher MD (Medical Deviate) and bought footage of an unfinished Anthology film, "Tales That'll Tear Your Heart Out", spliced it into the opening, added a cheesy disco score and created a unique marketing campaign that had nothing to do with the film. While certainly not without flaws, and perhaps derivative of superior films, Zombie Holocaust – or Dr. Butcher, MD, as it is known by its more campy US title – is a great example of the Italian splatter genre, and it's sure to reward any fans of the genre with visceral delights.

In 1986 Fangoria magazine with issue # 52 went in depth on the career of Ian McCulloch briefly exploring the shooting of Zombie Holocaust. Fabrizio De Angelis who produced Fulci's Zombie, got McCulloch to start in another island cannibal mini-epic. The film's original script was called "Queen of the Cannibals" but later changed when Ian said it sounded like "… the world's first gay zombie movie!" Then became known as Nightmare Island, then Cannibal Holocaust ..which was already used, then finally Zombie Holocaust. "I really liked the script for this movie. My character, Dr. Peter Chandler, was good. I thought it had an interesting angle in adding the cannibal cults as the reason they go to the island. The makeup man was Franco Ruffini, the assistant on zombie, so he did some very good zombie make ups and some very grisly effects. "

-The "Butchermobile" cruised downtown New York streets drumming up business, amputations, throat-slitting's, brain transplants and machete based exploratory surgeries followed in its wake.

Dr. Butcher MD

"The violence is gleeful, excessive and extraordinarily explicit; this film clumsily combines cannibalism, zombies, ersatz medical experimentation, grave robbing, ritual disembowelment, and more intestinal munching than even a George Romero film. The film concerns a mad (what else?) doctor's experiments in a presumably South American jungle, where our good Dr. Butcher MD is hoping to assemble lots of body parts and attempt to reanimate the dead, ably assisted by a tribe of cannibals who eat his mistakes. It's rather refreshing to see nice, normal Amazonian cannibals wielding the machetes and butcher knives instead of your run-of-the-mill psycho cases "The Connoisseur's Guide to the Contemporary Horror Film- Chas. Balun © 1983 Fantaco Books p.25

-A Mad scientist lives at an molukk island inhabited by cannibals. He experiments with corpses which he reanimates to zombies.

First Aid In Heart Attack

Lack of exercise, eating instant foods, lack of rest and stress is a factor that is often experienced by busy people. And anyone would know, living an unhealthy lifestyle will have a negative impact on health, one of which is heart disease. Heart attack is still ranked first deathly disease in the world.

Heart disease caused by narrowing of blood vessels due to cholesterol or a pile of other proteins derived from food intake in our body. This buildup causes the coronary arteries become stiff. Rigidity is referred to as atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis occurs when a buildup of plaque or fatty deposits occur in arterial walls, thereby narrowing the arteries and impede blood flow to the heart. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is that basically leads to most heart disease.

Blockage of one or more of the coroner artery can cause a heart attack suddenly. The reason for the heart to ask exceeds the available oxygen causing a heart attack. Why? If the heart muscle does not receive oxygen for a long time, the surrounding organ can be damaged. Unlike other organ, the heart muscle does not regenerate. The longer a heart attack strikes, the more the network to be broken so that the cause of death.

Every interval of two seconds long deep breath and then coughed again. Keep going until help arrived or your pulse normal.

The aim is to enter deep breath oxygen into the lungs. While the goal is to suppress cough heart so that blood flow returned to normal.

SunBeds and Cancer – Tanning Beds Cancer Dangers

According to a new report out of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Tanning beds / Sunbeds cancer danger is equal to that of cigarettes and asbestos.

Where once it was “probable”, the risk today is rated more seriously – the agency is now calling for these devices to be labeled “carcinogenic to humans”. Those who use them risk becoming bronzed, healthy looking cancer patients

This comes after a review of research conducted by experts from nine countries that found the risk of melanoma was increased 75% in those who routinely used tanning beds before the age of 30.

Melanoma of the eye has also been linked to the use of these devices. Melanoma is the second most common cancer in twenty-something females, this according to the America Melanoma Foundation.

Experts have noticed a rise in melanoma diagnosis, especially for young women, over the last few years.

A National Institute of Health study found that melanoma rates among young women in the US, nearly tripled from 1973 to 2004. Research conducted over the last 10 years offers lots of evidence that tanning beds, as well as direct sun exposure, have played their part in this dramatic increase.

“The use of tanning beds can be deleterious to your health and we hope to encourage governments to formulate restrictions and regulations for the use of tanning beds,” said report coauthor Beatrice Secretan, from the Cancer Monograph Working Group at the IARC, the cancer arm of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Estimates from the WHO suggest that perhaps as many as 60,000 people worldwide die from too much sun each year, with most of this number comes from malignant skin cancers.

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the U.S. and tanning beds are commonly used by many, especially the young.

“This new report confirms and extends the prior recommendation of the American Cancer Society that the use of tanning beds is dangerous to your health, and should be avoided,” agrees U.S. expert Dr. Len Lichtenfeld, deputy chief medical officer of the American Cancer Society.

Many doctors see the latest report as confirmation of what they’ve long believed – overexposure to tanning beds is just as dangerous as sunbathing in natural sunlight.

The report appears in the August 2009 issue of The Lancet Oncology and also confirms that ultraviolet A (UVA), ultraviolet B (UVB) and ultraviolet C (UVC) radiation cause cancer in animals.

This is important as the tanning bed industry has long claimed that the beds are safe because of the type of radiation they offer – more UVA than UVB. This new report tells us that all three types are dangerous.

As for the tanning bed industry, the International Tanning Association (ITA) representing indoor tanning manufacturers and others in the $5 billion a year industry, acknowledge that the UV exposure you get from a tanning bed isn’t discernibly different from what you get from the sun.

The ITA is quick to point out that even natural sun exposure has been given the carcinogenic classification since 1992, sharing this category with salted fish, red wine and beer.

Moving forward, the WHO will work to restrict the use of tanning beds by those under 18. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates labeling of the devices while the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulates the advertising claims made by tanning beds.

Salons are required to tell customers to wear protective goggles over their eyes, and there are warnings on aging, skin cancer and eye injury.

Since 2007 the FDA has been considering making those warnings stronger, though experts would like to see laws that restrict tanning bed use by minors and a black box warning to users.

In the meantime if you choose to take a trip to the tanning salon, at least you’ll know more about the risk you’re taking.

If you still want the bronzed, glowing look, consider UV-free spray tanning as an option that can give you the look rather than the using a tanning bed and exposing yourself to these sunbed related cancer risks.

The Hyperborean Mythos Agonies of the Grave ((Burial Before Death) (Huancayo, Peru))

THE conqueror worm, the bleak and blackness of night, the damp soil, clinging onto one’s garments, oppression of the lungs, the embrace of the narrow coffin, the body now entombed for evermore. The lack of air, fumes, the grass above one’s head, and above that a moon, and sun and stars, galaxies, the universe, you are in a new world, beyond. Your friends are at home sleeping, drinking, laughing, all informed of your death, yet not your fate; that they are uninformed of.

You are buried alive, in a hopeless position. Appalling it may be, an intolerable horror, an agonizing dream, as nothing half so scornful, but it is real, and somehow you must tolerate the burden of that reality.

Now I will tell you a true story of a resident and friend of mine, from Huancayo, Peru, high up in the Peruvian Andes, where folks still do things the old fashion way, to include burials. Leoncio, originally from a small village called San Jeronimo de Tunan, who had moved to the inner-city of Huancayo (within the Mantaro Valley region) no one knowingly knowing of his disease catalepsy (often times coupled with epilepsy and schizophrenia, characterized by lack of response and external stimuli and by muscular rigidity), no one alive that is, his age being 68-years old, and having no family to speak of, a few friends, unknowing of the mysterious disease he had. Although I did, but I was far-off during his so called departure from this earth, in Patagonia.

This disease of course is of profound interest especially for its fate, or has been in the past. The patient or victim, lies for a day or longer in a state of exaggerated lifelessness. He is senseless, motionless, the heart’s pulsation is faint at best, yet some places of blood warmth remain. His coloration changes to his body, even to his lips, a vacillating action takes place in the lungs. He is in a trace like mode for weeks if not months. Often times in isolated areas that are still with the old customs, the prognoses is ‘absolute death’; and for such communities, death is death, and there is no double checking into records, that might or might not be, and for old Leoncio, there were no medical records, he cured all his aches and pains with old remedies, the old way. And he got buried the old way. And the only way anyone other than myself would have known of his catalepsy, would have been by consequent suspicion, and above all the lack of decay, the latter being overlooked. Thus, he was consigned alive to his tomb.

I can say in certainty, he fell into a swoon, a blackout, without pain, unable to stir. Perhaps even to think for a while, but with a dull and dim consciousness eventually.

Leoncio, also being an alcoholic, remained in a stupor, perhaps thinking he was in a nightmare, until he awoke out of this stupor, into reality, and found himself in a new crisis. Smitten to his surroundings, he must had been sick and numb, chilly and dizzy from the hangover. Yet now in his tomb, black and silent, his world in total annihilation, his universe gone.

He awake as out of a seizure, and I know of that experience, for I have lived it, my soul reaching out for perception of what is going on? Slowly coming back to the light that was turned off; coming back out of a trance, trying to get in touch with possession of my senses. Thus, his stage was even deeper, his bewilderment and perplexity deeper, for he remained in absolute abeyance.

His death haunted me day and night, thinking it was a premature burial. Thus, I had the city officials reopen the coffin, grim and darkness overspread our faces, I shook and quivered, as did the officials, shuttered to reflection that they had buried him alive, did we send him into the world of phantasms, I contemplated, then I heard a gibbering voce a whisper that came from the corpses’ lips, they moved, “Alive,” was the one word, it said over and over, then died out. My teeth chattered, here was a voice that grasped me by the wrist-figuratively speaking, but had I come too late?

Out of the radiance of decay, he had been buried ten-days, his body sad, in solemn slumber with the worms. A pitiful sight. In fact I no longer trusted myself, was he dead, or still alive? The doctor at hand reassured me by a solemn oath, he was dead. And the coffin was closed.

Stroke – Eliminating the Risk Factors

While there are a number of risk factors for strokes that are hereditary, meaning there is little you can do about them, there are also many other risks that you can remove from your life and therefore cut your chances of having a stroke. One of the biggest risks for strokes that can be moderated and changed by you is high blood pressure. This is thought to be one of the biggest contributing factors when it comes to strokes. As little as 30 minutes exercise five days a week can significantly lower your blood pressure, and thereby your chances of suffering a stroke.

Another massive risk is smoking. By giving up the habit, you could be cutting your risk of having a stroke by up to half. This is true whatever age you are and however, long you have been smoking, meaning it’s a huge incentive to quit. What’s more, it has been found that the combination of smoking and some contraceptive pills greatly increases the risk of stroke too while nicotine and carbon monoxide are damaging to the cardiovascular system in a myriad of ways.

Your diet is another area you should have a close look at if you’re hoping to cut your chances of suffering a stroke. If you’re eating a lot of cholesterol, trans fat and saturated fat, you could end up with high blood cholesterol levels – a big risk factor when it comes to strokes. It’s also been found that people who eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day are less likely to suffer strokes.

It’s also important to watch your weight in general, as obesity also raises risk levels. This means you should aim to stay active as well as eat well and aim to exercise for a little while at least once a day. By cutting your risk factors, looking after yourself and checking your cholesterol and blood pressure at your health screening, you are giving your body a fighting chance when it comes to battling off strokes.

Eating Earth

Why eat closer to Earth?

Eating earth given foods connects all to Mother Earth, to nature, to our inner being and spirit. It brings all to life. When we eat Mother Earth’s food we are literally buzzing with energy, with joy, happiness, and light. Minerals and Vitamins induce our bodies, filling and repairing our cells. We avoid sickness, pain, misery, dis-ease and mental illness.

Conventional foods, packaged foods, fast foods are not food. They do not provide us with nutrition, with health, with life. They provide us with just the opposite, malnutrition, dis-ease, death. The average Western Diet poisons our bodies, damages our cells, creates inflammation which causes dis-ease. Fights against us, creates laziness, bad choices, bad habits, mental illness, obesity, depression and so much more!

Many say they can not afford eating “real food”. Organic, home grown, tree picked, shrub picked nature-made Mother Earth food. Many say they do not enjoy the taste of Earth made food. Many say it is too hard to eat Earth made food. Too expensive, time consuming, not worth it.

1 Corinthians 6:19 – What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Is the temple not worth it?

Later when dis-ease spreads throughout the body or temple will the funds be worth feeding to a doctor to hopefully correct the poor choices of the past? Will it be worth the days spent picking up prescriptions, chocking down pill after pill, pricking fingers, lying in bed with a tube or two or three down veins? Fighting Cancer, losing hair, decaying quickly, diabetes (type 2), dementia (type 3 diabetes), or even an immediate death from heart attack or stroke?

When all this happens, providing grief to loved ones, leaving children behind, grandchildren, spouses, and even pets. Then having loved ones pay off leftover debt, fight over materials in a will, pouring money into a funeral averaging $7,000 according to, and dealing with overbearing stress and sadness.

It comes down to choice.

Or taking that money and feeding that temple that bares the Holy Ghost, your spirit, your inner guide, your connection to all of life. So life’s journey can be fulfilled, having more time to serve others, to gaze upon Earths beautiful land, and to leave this place more knowledgeable and less toxic than before birthed here.

If not for the spirit that lies within the temple, then for the other spirits in flesh and blood that come to this Garden of life after.

Is the temple that holds the spirit worth the investment?

When spirit consumes from what Mother Earth and Father sky prepared for it, it lives a strong, meaningful, journey filled life. It lives with energy for a purpose, with hope and faith. It lives with less fear, doubt, greed, grief. It provides clarity.

When eating from the land of Mother Earth, spirit becomes satisfied with abundance of energy, love, joy, forgiveness, happiness, wealth, and youth. There is more to explore, share, more to do, more to give. There is abundance! There is life!

So why eat from Earth? The question, suspended in time.
