1. Aquarium Allergy – An aquarium allergy is rare, and most people with pet allergies are advised to get an aquarium and pet fish to lower the risks of an allergy occurring. In some rare cases though, a skin rash will develop from exposure to fish and water in the aquarium. Treatment includes antihistamines and avoiding any aquariums to prevent a recurrence of the skin rash.

2. Argyria – This rare rash on the skin is caused by high levels of silver exposure, and the resulting rash makes the skin a bluish color. Medications and intensive medical care right after birth has increased the survival rate of these infants substantially, but there is no cure and medications are usually needed for life.

4. Pemphigoid Gestitionis – This condition causes skin rashes to appears during the last two trimesters of pregnancy or after you have given birth to a child, and is extremely rare. Blisters and redness appear and the skin becomes very painful. The rash can leave permanent scarring, and there is no known treatment.

5. Solar Urticaria – Solar Urticaria takes a sun allergy up many levels. With this condition any exposure to ultraviolet radiation and possibly even visible forms of light will cause severe hives and welting. These skin rashes occur even on areas that were not exposed. Treatment can include the use of antihistamines and sunscreens, complete avoidance of any UV radiation, or a process known as photohardening where you are exposed to increasing amounts of this radiation to build up a tolerance.

6. Aquagenic Urticaria – With Aquagenic Urticaria hives and welting occur after any water exposure, no matter how small. In some cases the sweat released by the body contains enough water to cause a reaction. The proper role of vitamin supplementation is in the treatment of deficiency in patients who have inadequate intake, disturbed absorption, or increased requirements because of an increased destruction or excretion.

Causes of Elbow Joint Pain

There can be a number of conditions and diseases which can cause pain to the elbow joint. Most people associate chronic joint pain with arthritis, but you should always consult your doctor to determine the cause of elbow joint pain. One of the more common causes is bursitis-a painful disease that affects many people each year. Trauma and overuse can leads to bursitis.

What Is Bursitis?

A bursa is a small sac filled with fluid. When functioning normally, the bursa releases fluid which lubricates the joints and allows them to glide smoothly. When the bursa is injured, the sac no longer releases the fluid and your joints begin to rub against each other, causing friction and pain.

Everybody loves samurais because of their mystique, fierce fighting skills and legends steeped in mystery. One of the famous samurai was Honda Tadakatsu who was also known as Honda Heihachiro. He was a Japanese general of the late Sengoko and early Edo period. He lived from 1548 to 1610 and was one of the Tokugawa Four Heavenly Kings.

Tadakatsu was born in the Mikawa province in Japan and was promoted many times for his service. His son Honda Tadatomo became daimyo of Otaki and his other son Tadamasa took over Kuwana after Tadakatsu retired. Even though Honda served years of loyal service, he became estranged from the Tokugawa shogunate as it moved from military to civilian political institution. Many other warriors had the same problem transitioning from the chaotic warfare life to a stable peaceful life of the Tokugawa shogunate.

Honda Tadakatsu was well respected in his time and was called the Samurai of Samurai by Oda Nobunaga, who was known not to praise his followers which made this high praise indeed. Toyotomi Hedeyoshi also stated that the best samurai were Honda Tadakatsu in the east and Tachibana Muneshige in the west. Honda was also respected because even though he fought in over sixty battles, he never suffered a significant wound. He was referred as The Warrior who surpassed Death itself for this reason.

Honda is regarded as one of Tokugawa leyasu’s finest generals. He earned distinction at the Battle of Anegawa and also served at the Battle of Mikatagahara which was the scene of Tokugawa’s greatest defeat. At that battle he commanded the left wing of the army facing troops under Naito Masatoyo one of the Takeda clan’s notable generals. Honda went on to exact vengeance at the Battle of Nagashino where he commanded musketeers as the combined Oda-Tokugawa forces annihilated Takeda Katsuyori’s army. This was in part to the skilled use of ranked muskets as one soldier would fire while another was reloading and yet another cleaning the barrel of the musket. This enabled the muskets to fire without stopping. It was the first time this effective battle tactic had been seen.

Honda Tadakatsu has quite a few legends surrounding him including the one that he never received a wound. His helmet was adorned with deer antlers which made it very conspicuous so the ability to battle without receiving wounds was legendary. His fighting prowess was incredible and so well known that his weapon of choice, a spear, was named as one of the Three Great Spears of Japan. He was the person in the neighborhood who would loudly complain if the local kids were making too much noise, or if someone rode a loud mini-bike past the house. Mom was not much better. A number of times, she stuck her head in the oven, wanting to commit suicide. The rest of the time, she would take Dad's side against her children. Dan's older sister, who had no problem in standing up to Dad, packed a couple of suitcases, and practically ran out of the house the day she turned 18, never to look back.

During adolescence, Dan discovered the "joys" of alcohol and drugs. He would stay out all night nearly every night, drinking a case of beer daily. Soon, he was drinking all day, too. There were several smashed cars and run-ins with the law. Somehow, Dan graduated from high school, after which, he too left home. Marriage, and 2 children, soon followed. They moved to a small town in Tennessee, where they opened a pizza place. Their total lack of experience in running a restaurant was not important. For a couple of years, the place was thriving. Dan turned the restaurant into the local after-hours drinking establishment, which was not a good idea (he was still drinking heavily every day). He also upset the "wrong" people in town. After the restaurant failed, he decided to try again, in Atlanta. This time, Sue, his wife, wanted no part of the new restaurant. Still drinking heavily, this one failed pretty quickly. Dan finally realized that he had hit rock bottom, and agreed to rehab.

He thought very little of the 12 Steps in Alcoholics Anonymous, and of group therapy. His attitude must have showed, because he was named Most Likely To Fail by his counselors and the rest of his group. He was also kicked out of the program with only three days left to completion. After much soul-searching and sleepless nights, he reduced the 12 Steps to only 3 Steps, and held on to those very tightly. Is he stiil an alcoholic, or did he kick his addiction? Did his vital organs shut down from all the beer he was drinking? Can the 3 Steps also work for any other addiction?

This is a very inspirational story. Farish is also a really good writer, who does not sugarcoat anything. The 12 Steps will not work for everyone; perhaps the 3 Steps will work. Anyone affected by alcoholism would do very well to read this book. It is very much worth the time.

2-Stroke Cycles

The two-stroke cycle of and internal combustion engine iffers from the more common four stroke cycle by completing the same four processes (intake, compression, power, exhaust) in only two strokes of the piston rather than four. This is accomplished by using the space below the piston for air intake and compression, thus allowing the chamber above the piston to be used for just the power and exhaust strokes. As the piston continues down, it compresses the air / fuel / oil mixture in the crankcase. Once the top of the piston passes the transfer port, the compressed charge enters the cylinder from the crankcase and any remaining exhaust is forced out.
Compression / intake: The air-fuel-oil mixture has entered the cylinder, and the piston begins to move up. This compresses the charge in the cylinder and draws a vacuum in the crankcase, pulling in more air, fuel, and oil from the carburetor. The compressed charge is ignited by the spark plug, and the cycle begins again.

In engines like the one described above, where some of the exhaust and intake charge are in the cylinder simultaneously the gasses are kept separate by careful timing and aiming of the transfer ports such that the fresh gas has minimal contact with the exiting exhaust which it is pushing ahead of itself.

Note the important distinctions between a Federal Disability Retirement application and applying for OWCP (Worker’s Comp) benefits. Similarly, in psychiatric medical conditions – from Major Depression, Anxiety, Panic attacks, Agoraphobia, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – to paranoia, ADD, ADHD, Schizophrenia, suicidal or homicidal ideations: the cognitive dysfunction, the inability to focus, concentrate, be able to perform cognitive-intensive work, or work which requires daily and sustained focus and attention, are the important focal emphasis of the medical conditions described and delineated.

Ultimately, it is the cumulative knowledge of multiple factors which will ensure the success of a Federal Disability Retirement application under FERS or CSRS submitted to the Office of Personnel Management.
