A Healthy Diet That Works

Want to learn how to make a healthy diet that works? Read this article to learn from one that i have laid out.

A healthy diet that works would have several tweaks done to it. In order to be healthy you would need to eat right and exercise and all that kind of stuff.

So the first thing I would have in a great diet plan is healthy foods without a lot of processed foods.

Monday through Saturday you can follow a solid regimen like eat breakfast every morning. What you should do is eat clean for at least six days. The day off here would be Sunday.

It would not be a cheat day when you can eat anything and everything. Instead have that one a day out of the week be a day where you can eat anything but make sure you do not eat more than you can.

It is best to start off counting calories just to get a good idea of how many calories you need to lose fat safely. I will just you an example of what my typical day for weight loss was.

I wake up Monday morning at 8:00am and have a bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon and low fat milk with an apple. Then after about an hour I go for a walk around my neighborhood for at least twenty minutes.

Then eat again at around 11:00 when I am feeling a little hungry. This meal will be an egg omelet, wheat toast, and Canadian bacon.

In between I would be actively doing something like yard work or just playing basketball with some friends. By the way make sure you pick something fun for exercising.

I generally like to eat every three hours because I know I won’t get too hungry and will feel energized all day long.

So I will eat at around 2:00pm, 5:00pm, and 8:00pm. I would want to eat foods that are clean like…

salmon

peanut butter

bananas

spinach

wheat bread

sweet potato

oranges

turkey

All these are just a few great choices for a healthy diet that works. I don’t really have much of a problem eating like this not only because I feel great but because I am looking forward to that day when I can eat anything (NOT everything).

So develop your own healthy diet that works just like above and good luck losing weight. It really is that simple.

Top 10 Secrets for Weight Loss

If you’re like most people you have been trying to lose wight for a while now, but just don’t seem to be making progress. It’s extremely frustrating I know, and you feel like you have tried everything and nothing works. If that’s the case then these ten weight loss tips will help you achieve success in your weight loss goals.

1) Eat frequent small meals

Eating five to six meals every day is a must. Keeping your body constantly fed will help maintain your metabolism and prevent it from thinking it is starving. Don’t starve yourself or skip meals because that will throw your metabolism off and slow your weight loss. Your meals should be the standard breakfast, lunch and dinner but you will also add in a snack between breakfast and lunch and another one between lunch and dinner. You may also have a late evening snack after dinner too on your workout days.

2) Eat Solid Food

There are several all-liquid diets on the market, however it is not suggested to go that route. It is much healthier to eat good, solid food rather than to drink your meals. Even though these all liquid diets are very popular, they are not nutritious at all and are made up of mostly sugar.

3) Read Labels

Understanding the nutrition labels on food packages is crucial when you are trying to lose weight. This will help you learn the ingredients of your food to determine if it is healthy or not. You will also be able to determine serving sizes, calories per serving, and the breakdown of protein, carbohydrates and fats.

4) Serving sizes

In addition to eating frequently it is important to keep the portion sizes smaller. You don’t want to eat 5-6 very large meals as that will defeat the purpose of your diet.

5) Lower carb, and lower fat

The foods that you choose for your small meals should be lower in carbohydrates and fat. This will help to speed your weight loss.

6) Exercise Your Body

To help speed your weight loss you will need to engage in regular exercise. This helps to increase your metabolism as well as improve your overall health. Some suggestions for aerobic exercises to help your heart would be speed walking, jogging, bike riding, etc. Weight training should be a priority as well since this will help to build muscle which also increases your metabolism.

7) Drink water

A cornerstone of every weight loss plan has to include staying hydrated. A good amount is usually around 8 – 10 glasses per day. By drinking a lot of water it will not only help to keep you feeling full so you’re not as hungry, but it will also help to flush and detoxify the body.

8) Exercise Your Brain

Improving your mental state should not be ignored during any weight loss program. Combining physical exercise with mental exercise will help to improve your overall health and personality. Some methods to achieve this are yoga and meditation, which increases your mental relaxation and concentration.

9) Get enough sleep

Not only is getting enough sleep good for your overall health, it also helps with your weight loss by letting your body recover from the exercise you have done. Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night and try to stay on a regular schedule where you go to bed and wake up at the same times.

10) Keep a journal

Your chances of success will increase greatly if you keep a journal. This will be used for both your diet and exercise. Write down the food you have eaten and the calories consumed, along with the amount of protein, carbs and fat. You will be able to adjust your diet more precisely if you have this information. The same for exercising – write down what you plan on doing and then record your results for your exercises. This will help you determine when it is time to increase your intensity.

Hopefully these ten steps simple will help you see that you don’t need to be discouraged in your weight loss efforts. Making these changes is really simple and they will become a habit before you know it leading you to your fat loss goal.

Outdoor First Aid Kits

Outdoor first aid kits are essential for families that love the great outdoors. Whether your family enjoys a day at the lake, hiking through the woods, or participating in sports, a first aid kit should be a part of the preparations. Outdoor activities can provide hours of fun for your family, but it is always best to keep in mind that no matter where you are, accidents can happen. An outdoor first aid kit should include a basic first aid kit that includes assorted bandages, gauze, adhesive tape, scissors, antibiotic ointment, and over-the-counter pain reliever. However, outdoor first aid kits should also include special items that may not be needed in the home.

Outdoor first aid kits should also include insect sting pads, an instant cold pack and heat compress, sunscreen, emergency thermal blanket, ace bandages, athletic tape, aloe vera gel, calamine lotion, and hydrocortisone cream. For hiking or camping, it is essential to have a three-day supply of water and food. Food should be non-perishable and easy to prepare. It should also be easy to carry in a backpack. The following foods are great for outdoors: peanut butter, crackers, energy bars and granola bars, and trail mix. Another essential item is hard candies. Hard candies quench thirst and can help to save your water supply.

Families that spend a lot of time in the outdoors should be prepared for lots of fun. It is also important to be prepared for accidents. Common accidents that happen outdoors include cuts, falls, insect bites, and getting lost. It is always best to be prepared for emergencies whether you are in the home, in the vehicle, or enjoying the great outdoors. Before you leave, you should ensure that each member of the family is familiar with the contents of the outdoor first aid kits and understands how to use each item.

Does your family enjoy spending time in the great outdoors? Whether you camp, hike, or play sports, outdoor first aid kits should be an essential part of your preparations. Accidents happen when you least expect them – whether you are playing a simple game of volleyball, hiking through the mountains, or hunting for big game. The most intelligent and responsible thing you can do for your family is to go prepared – and this includes an outdoor first aid kit that contains the essential items to meet any emergency situation. Be prepared – not scared!

Medicare Supplement Excess Charges

A quick explanation of Medicare Part B “Excess Charges.”

For Example; say the Medicare allowable charge for a certain visit or procedure is $100. Medicare Part B pays $80; the Medicare Supplement pays the remaining $20. If the doctor does not accept assignment, and the client has Plan D, the client pays the 15%.

Medicare states that if the doctor does not accept assignment the doctor can add 15% to the amount Medicare approves. However, Medicare reduces the amount they have approved by 5% because the doctor does not accept assignment.

Now the doctor can only add the 15% to the reduced amount.

If Medicare approves a total of $100 and the doctor does not accept assignment then Medicare reduces it by 5% so now the approved amount is $95. $95 x 115% = $109.25

The above shows that although the doctor can add an additional 15%, after Medicare reduces the amount by 5% the doctor is really only getting an additional $9.25 and not $15.

That really is not enough additional money for the doctor to risk not getting paid or have to spend money billing.

When the doctor sends a claim to Medicare, Medicare will assign a value to that claim. If the doctor agrees to “Accept Assignment” then the doctor also agrees to accept that assigned value as 100% payment for his/her services, of which Medicare pays 80% and the Medicare Supplement policy pays the remaining 20%.

If the doctor says no to assignment the claim still goes to Medicare and Medicare will “assign a value”. It makes no difference whether or not the doctor Accepts Assignment.

If the doctor does not Accept Assignment then Medicare will reduce the amount of value by 5%. The doctor can then add the 15% to the reduced amount. Either the insurance company or the individual will have to pay that additional money.

However, neither Medicare nor the Medicare Supplement will pay the doctor. Why, because he says no to assignment of the claim. The money goes to the client.

So now the doctor has to hope he gets $115 from the client after he does all the billing instead of knowing he will receive $100.

Assume the net annual premium difference between Plan F and Plan D is $275, after deducting the $135 Part B deductible that is not paid by Plan D. At 15%, that would mean that the client would have to incur bills of almost $2,000 from doctors that do not accept assignment.

Since only 1% of the doctors do not accept assignment and knowing how much Medicare limits charges, it becomes difficult for Plan F to be a money saver for any client.

How to Properly Take a Silica Supplement

Silica supplements can be found in a variety of forms. These include powder and liquid forms that can easily work in one’s bloodstream. It will help for anyone who is interested in taking a silica supplement to look into what one is doing with regards to a supplement. Here is a look at how to properly take one of these materials.

It will help to consider following the general dosage levels of silica. Silica is not something that can be overdosed on. However, being able to get an appropriate amount of silica in one’s body is helpful so that it will be more effective. A mild amount of silica may be all that is needed in the body.

However, those who are new to silica might need to add to their dosage levels. This is so the body will be able to work with more silica so that it can get used to the supplement over time. This is also because it can be tough for the body to absorb its silica the first few times around. For example, a person who has just started a liquid silica regimen might want to take four tablespoons of silica in a day instead of two. The person can end up moving down to only two tablespoons a day after a period of time goes by.

It will also help to take a silica supplement before eating. This is so the silica will be able to get into one’s body before any other type of mineral can get into it.

The last tip to use is to watch for how silica can be something that should not be combined with other drugs that a person is taking. Silica supplements have not been found to have any harmful interactions with any medications or other supplements. This makes it relatively safe but it never hurts to be sure that the body is going to be well protected when using a silica supplement. A good tip to use would be to take a silica supplement alone or to at least wait an hour before taking another medication or supplement.

Be sure to use these rules when looking to get a silica supplement handled. These are rules that can be used to make it easier for the body to be able to handle a proper silica regimen. Using them can help to see that the silica will be more effective in the body.

5 Anti-Aging Vitamins To Reverse The Clock On Life

There is not a single person who has been able to escape time. It makes itself most conspicuous in those wrinkles, fine lines, age spots and saggy skin. This is true, but you can at least try to delay these ugly signs of aging. Using the right vitamins either orally or topically is the key to firm up loose skin, improve its tone and reduce the appearance of age-related wrinkles.

So, here’s a list of the 5 anti-aging vitamins with their benefits. Include them in your diet and skin care routine if you want to preserve your youthful radiance for a few more years.

1. Vitamin C – Boosts Collagen and Fades Brown Spots

Vitamin C is well-known as a remedy for common colds as it boosts the immune system. It is also one of the important anti-aging nutrients on the market. It delays aging by increasing the production of collagen, at the same improving its quality. It protects your skin against sun damage by inhibiting the action of free radicals. Vitamin C also fades brown spots and evens out the skin tone and texture. An antioxidant itself, it helps in the synthesis of other antioxidants. Citrus fruits and leafy green vegetables are a good source of Vitamin C.

2. Vitamin E – Quells Dryness

Vitamin E is also known for its anti-aging qualities. It is a fat-soluble vitamin that protects the cell membranes against UV damage. For this same reason, it is a chief ingredient in sunscreen lotions. Vitamin E contained in creams and lotions repairs dry, dull and cracked skin and infuses moisture for a supple look and feel. Nuts, seeds (sunflower seeds), vegetable oils, avocados and green leafy vegetables contain Vitamin E in abundance. It is also available in varied topical applications and supplements.

3. Vitamin K – Helps Under Eye Dark Circles

Tired raccoon-like eyes are a part and parcel of growing old. And while we attribute it to lack of sleep, it might in reality be the result of a deficiency of vitamin K. Very often fragile capillaries rupture and cause blood to leak into the surrounding skin. Vitamin K lightens under-eye dark circles by constricting capillaries and dissolving blood clots. The human body does not produce Vitamin K in large amounts and therefore has to be supplied externally either through diet, supplements of creams.

4. Vitamin B3 –

Vitamin B3 or Niacin counteracts the effects of aging by working inside out. It reinforces the outer protective barrier of skin by boosting the production of ceramides and fatty acids. As such, it locks moisture in and keeps skin irritants out. Additionally, it sloughs off dead skin cells and promotes cell repair and renewal.

5. Vitamin A – The All-round Age Fighter

When it comes to defying age, there is no match for Vitamin A. Vitamin A in the form of Retinol is a chief ingredient in most over-the-counter lotions, night creams and prescriptions products. Vitamin A helps you age gracefully by reducing wrinkles, fading brown spots and smoothing skin roughness. This antioxidant also neutralizes the damaging effects of oxidation caused by free radicals. It also helps with under-eye dark circles as it thickens the skin around and under the eyes.

Yeast Infection No More

Yeast Infections (candida) affect many people and cause a myriad of unpleasant symptoms. They are caused by an overgrowth of candida albicans in the body. Although candida albicans occurs naturally in our body in the mouth, throat, digestive tract, intestines and genital areas in small amounts, under less desirable conditions the candida albican can grow uncontrollably to high levels. This creates imbalances, resulting in many unwanted and varying symptoms.

Some of these symptoms include –

  • leaky gut syndrome.
  • female candida infections causing redness, burning and itching in the genital area.
  • male and oral yeast infections.
  • allergies and digestive disorders.
  • headaches, brain fog and tiredness.
  • rashes and burning sensations.
  • painful and swollen joints.
  • mood swings.

The infection feeds on sugar, so many holistic health practitioners recommend an 8-12 week diet containing no sugar, no yeast and no fungus in order to starve the candida and return yeast levels to a healthy amount in the body.

Yeast Infection No More is a popular e-book created by Linda Allen. Linda, a former chronic sufferer herself, teaches readers how she overcame her chronic yeast infection. She has gone on to teach thousands of sufferers around the world how to overcome this condition and become healthy once more. In Yeast Infection No More you will learn –

  • Linda’s 5 step holistic method to eradicate candida overgrowth and return your natural inner balance of health.
  • how to cure your yeast infection permanently and holistically.
  • how to cure your yeast infection without drugs and conventional creams.
  • the importance of probiotics.
  • the ten best and ten worst foods for curing candida.
  • a simple 12 hour treatment that eradicates the surface symptoms of candida giving relief.
  • and more.

Linda Allen’s e-book guides sufferers through a natural treatment program to eliminate yeast infections permanently, so you can regain your health and your life once more.

Chocolate Health Benefits May Prevent A Stroke

Just two bars of chocolate per week is all it takes, according to some new research out of Sweden, for a woman to bring down her stroke and possibly prevent a stroke. This latest work builds on earlier findings in both men and women, but also provides us with some new information on stroke type and chocolate health benefits.

A team of researchers from Sweden examined 33,372 subjects taking part in a large study who were from 49 to 83 years old, for a period of ten years that ended in 2008.

The participants completed questionnaires about how regularly they ate chocolate along with 95 other foods throughout the previous year. The subjects were broken into 8 categories depending on how much chocolate they ate. The categories ranged from an astonishing "never" to a far more reasonable "3 or more each day."

Throughout the follow-up period, 1,549 strokes took place, and of that number, 1,200 were brought on by clots or another disturbance of the blood vessels. Burst vessels caused another 224, and the reason for the last 125 was not specified. But even after making an adjustment for stroke risk factors, the team saw that chocolate was protective. This may be because it helps to lower blood pressure, a major risk factor for stroke.

Stroke protection began at over 45 grams (almost 1.5 ounces) of chocolate a week, the group that ate the largest volume chocolate got the greatest benefit, cutting their stroke risk by 20%. The average intake in this group was almost 2.3 ounces of chocolate per week. And while earlier studies have shown a link between chocolate eating and stroke risk, this project uncovered a small difference in the protection in terms of the type of stroke.

The subjects who consumed the highest volume of chocolate had a greater protection from strokes due to hemorrhage than those brought on by obstructions like blood clots. No one is sure why this difference in protection might be.

Chocolate, besides tasting divine, is loaded with beneficial flavonoids that are a natural part of the cocoa and act as antioxidants once inside the body. They help protect our cells from free radical damage that can be especially troublesome for the cardiovascular system.

An intriguing quirk of nature means chocolate has eight times the antioxidants that are a natural part of strawberries.

Also important, the study used Swedish milk chocolate and this variety has around 30% cocoa solids, while the milk chocolate usually found in the US probably has much less than this amount. Dark chocolate naturally has higher amounts of cocoa and is lower in sugar, lower in fat and has fewer calories as well.

What's more, only 1/3 of the fat in dark chocolate is known to be bad for you.

This is just another bit of research that finds chocolate health benefits, but before you tuck in, make a wise and informed choice in order to get the benefits (without the nasty calories, adding pounds) to your body. Many experts recommend chocolate with a minimum 70% cocoa, based on earlier research that found the higher concentration of cocoa lowers the risk of heart disease and may prevent a stroke.

The Benefits of Early Visits To The Orthodontist

The aim of early orthodontic treatment is not just to correct the growth of the jaw and certain bite problems, It also helps to make room for permanent teeth and enable them to come through properly, lessening the chance of extractions or other further dental complications in the future. The Initial treatment typically begins around age eight or nine years of age.

The second phase will begin when the child is around age 11 or older. The British Association of Orthodontics recommends that children see an orthodontist as early as age seven years old. At this point, your child will be assessed and the case will be evaluated as to whether your child will need any treatment or not?

How to tell if your child may need early orthodontic treatment

When a child experiences early or late loss of baby teeth (children typically start losing teeth around age five, and have all the permanent teeth by age 13). Below are a list of situations that would also highlight the need for early orthodontic treatment.

  • Your child continues to suck a thumb after age five
  • Your child experiences difficulty in chewing or biting
  • Your child develops mouth breathing
  • Your child is confronted with Speech impediments
  • Your child experiences protruding teeth (the top and bottom teeth extend away from each other)
  • Teeth that do not come together in a normal manner or even at all
  • Shifting of the jaw occurs when your child opens or closes the mouth (crossbites)
  • Crowded front teeth are apparent around age seven or eight

What are the benefits of an early evaluation and possible treatment

Orthodontic procedures for adults often take more time to complete and can even involve tooth extraction or oral surgery. research has shown that receiving early treatment as a child can help prevent the need for visiting an Orthodontist as an adult, leaving little to no chance of extraction or surgery in the future. Which will be a much more positive outcome.

For young patients who have clear indications for early intervention, this type of treatment presents an opportunity to:

• Guide the correct growth of the jaws

• Guide erupting permanent teeth to desirable positions

• Lower the risk of traumatic injury to protruding front teeth

• Help eliminate harmful oral habits such as thumb or finger sucking which can cause open bites

• Reduce or eliminate abnormal swallowing or some speech problems

• Improve personal appearance and self-esteem

• Potentially simplify and/or shorten treatment time for later comprehensive orthodontics

Wheatgrass Juice Provides You Lasting Relief From Digestive Issues

When you have digestive problems, it’s easy to become dependent on over-the-counter drugs. I’ve had many patients come to me for help breaking their antacid habit.

If you feel like you’re a slave to antacids, I have a solution for you that I bet you haven’t thought of before. Many people with chronic digestive issues find lasting relief by drinking wheatgrass juice. Wheatgrass juice is an all-natural, very nutritious way to relieve your indigestion pain.

Nature’s Own Healing Agent

Wheatgrass is a cousin of the wheat we grow for flour. Its technical name is agropyron. When it’s still young, wheatgrass looks pretty much like grass. The juice from wheatgrass is incredibly nutritious. From vitamins and minerals to amino acids and enzymes, this juice contains many things that can enhance your digestion and your general health.

Wheatgrass juice has been touted to cure everything from male pattern baldness to anemia to bad breath. It’s been purported to prevent cancer and enhance weight loss. Despite some outlandish claims, many benefits of wheatgrass juice are very real. The digestive benefits, in particular, are backed up by good research.

Proven Relief From Your Indigestion

Wheatgrass juice is a good source vitamin B, amino acids and enzymes. Each of these helps promote healthy digestion. Whether you have constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcers, or other stomach problems, drinking this juice each day can provide quick and lasting relief.

In one study, patients with ulcerative colitis were given either 3 ounces of wheatgrass juice each day or a placebo. Those receiving the wheatgrass juice saw significant improvements in their symptoms. They had less pain and discomfort and experienced less rectal bleeding.

It’s the high level of enzymes in this juice that helps improve digestion by causing your body to properly break down foods and absorb nutrients. Enzymes are essential to good digestion. Unfortunately, the average American diet is deficient in enzymes. A daily serving of wheatgrass juice can bring your own enzyme levels back into balance and that can do wonders for your digestion.

The high chlorophyll content of wheatgrass juice also helps promote good digestion. Chlorophyll which is valued for its detoxifying effects, works by removing toxins from the blood and by supporting good liver function. Most importantly for your digestion, it helps to cleanse your bowels. When your bowels are clean, they work better, and you’ll notice less gas, bloating, and discomfort after eating.

Where to Find Wheatgrass Juice

You can get wheatgrass juice from juice bars, health food stores, or you can grow your own.

At juice bars, you can get this juice that is mixed into a tasty smoothie. This is an easy way to benefit, but it can get expensive if you’re trying to drink it every day.

If you have a green thumb and a juicer at home, you can grow and juice your own wheatgrass. This grows quickly. It sprouts and is ready to juice within one to two weeks. Growing your own wheatgrass is the cheapest way to get all the benefits of this amazing food… and you’ll be certain about the freshness and ingredients used to raise your own.

Personally, I prefer a quick visit to my local health food store, which carries this juice. This “middle ground” solution lets me enjoy the benefits of this juice without the trouble of tending the plants. Because you only need two to three ounces a day of juice a quart easily lasts me three weeks, making it a cost-effective option as well.

I do want to note one more thing about using wheatgrass juice. Most people don’t enjoy the taste. I use my blender to mix the the juice with a variety of fruit juices. This masks the flavor without interfering with any of the benefits.

Wheatgrass juice is a great supplement, especially for digestive disorders. Whether you get a smoothie made to order or juice your own, you’re sure to enjoy the digestive benefits of this juice.

Beauty Therapy Questions – Examples for Your Exams

Before you start revising for your Beauty Therapy exams you must have a well structured revision plan. Part of this revision plan would be to have a large set of Beauty Therapy questions to constantly test yourself.

Beauty Therapy is divided into several different areas including Skin, Waxing, Manicure, Pedicure and Make Up. Having this much to learn can be very overwhelming at the end of the year so you must use your questions.

The best type of questions to use are in the format of multiple choice. With multiple choice questions you have one question and you get four potential answers. For exam and revision purposes you must choose only one answer. This obviously leaves no room for error so you must know your answer!

Occupational Therapy – A Career Helping People Recover

General Overview

The main role of the occupational therapist is to assist people who have been injured or who have been disabled since birth to recover or learn the skills using adaptations that will help them be more independent in everyday life. Occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy are often confused. OT deals mainly with fine motor skills, such as using hands; physical therapy deals with the big muscle groups and associated skills, such as walking. Occupational therapy was rated the ninth least stressful job in America by “US News and World Report.”

Patients may make slow progress towards their goals. They may ignore instructions to practice therapy at home. Sometimes they even resent the time spent going to therapy and are angry that they even have to be there. In all of these situations, the occupational therapist must remain patient and try to motivate the patient and give him or her a view of what the future could be like if they follow through with instructions from the therapist.

Required Education

All OTs in the United States have gone through a master’s-level program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). To graduate a pre-service occupational therapist must demonstrate his or her knowledge in a clinical setting for at least 24 hours. This field work is supervised. After graduating with a master’s degree, the next step is passing the national certification test. If passed, this test entitles the therapist to use the title “Occupational Therapist Registered” or OTR after his or her name.

Students who plan to continue their education in an OT master’s program can get undergraduate degrees in sociology, anthropology, psychology, liberal arts, biology or anatomy. Other similar bachelor’s degrees also go well with a master’s in occupational therapy. The actual OT courses include study of the behavioral sciences, physical sciences, life sciences and applying OT theory.

At present, ACOTE accredits four doctoral programs and 150 master’s and combined bachelor’s/master’s OT programs in the United States.

The top five occupational therapy programs in America, as ranked by “U. S. News and World Report” are as follows: Boston College Sargent, Washington University St. Louis, University of Southern California, University of Illinois Chicago, Tufts University Boston and the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Job Growth Expectations

Ranking as one of the top 50 best careers of 2010 by “U. S. News and World Report, ” occupational therapy is predicted to grow faster than other jobs. This is according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Work with the elderly in the OT field will be a large part of the increase.

Between 2008 and 2018, the number of OTs is expected to rise by 26%. In 2008, 105,000 people worked as OTs. By 2018, 131,300 people are expected to be working as OTs.

Pay

Mental health facilities, home health care services, public and private schools, hospitals and nursing homes are the main places where occupational therapists find work. A few work for themselves.

The average OT salary in 2008, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, was $67,780. The bottom 10% of therapists earned below $42,820 and the top 10% earned over $98,310 per year.

The average salary of an OT working in home health care services is $74,510 a year. OTs working in nursing homes earned about $72,510 a year and those doing occupational therapy in schools earned considerably less at $60,020 per year.

For Healthy Weight Loss – You Need a Healthy Diet Plan

When it comes to losing weight, you can do it in many ways, but some of them are unhealthy. This has been a problem for many around the globe. Although “quick weight loss” is certainly possible (and many diet plans focus on this), it’s much more important that a diet plan be effective and healthy at the same time. You need a healthy diet plan if you want healthy weight loss. You won’t necessarily lose weight quickly, but you’ll get results that are lasting, and you won’t have unhealthy side effects.

It’s really, really easy to “diet.” Almost everyone has done so at some point, although people disagree on what really effective weight loss actually means. If you just have a few pounds to lose or if you are really, really overweight, most people want to lose at least some weight. (Even normal weight or underweight people often want to lose weight when they don’t need to.) If you do need to lose weight, you need to approach it right, though.

Take your pick: You’ve got exercise programs, detox programs, weight loss pills, and many other trends that purport to help you lose weight. However, few of these programs simply focus on what you eat — and on a healthy diet plan — to achieve healthy weight loss. However, if you eat to lose weight and you do so in a healthy fashion, you’re going to do just that. In other words, you can have healthy weight loss that’s easy. It doesn’t have to be difficult.

Simply, take a commonsense approach. There really is no “perfect diet” for everyone. You can, however, simply eat to lose weight by doing some commonsense things. Don’t try to measure every morsel, measure how many fat grams, how much carbohydrate, how much fiber, and how much sugar. Focus on healthy eating as your goal, and just focus on that.

You can do a few things that will help encourage weight loss. Increase your fiber, reduce “first portion” sizes, reduce sweets and fatty foods, and drink a lot of water. Add some exercise to your healthy diet plan, too, and you’ll see the weight simply fall off. Don’t count calories; do things much more simply. Exercise a little self-control and some patience, and you can see that you will definitely be able to lose weight.

Let’s say, for example, that your doctor has told you you are at risk for diabetes as a result of extra weight. So, your doctor may put you on the “diabetes diet” to help you lose that weight. It’s a little difficult at first to follow a diet in order to lose weight — and in fact it can be really, really easy to do things wrong. For example, maybe you think just one little bag of potato chips won’t hurt, or that you can have just one treat. Or, maybe you think that what should be a half a cup of rice is a little too small, so you increase it to a cup.

However, when you develop a healthy weight loss plan, you remain vigilant. That doesn’t mean you can never have sweets or fats. Instead, you build a healthy eating plan with healthy foods, practice modest portion control, and have an occasional treat that you PLAN for, now and then. Simply, practice common sense, be honest, and keep going. That’s harder than it sounds; if it weren’t, no one would have these problems.

Try this and see how successful you are at it. A healthy weight loss plan is going to help you get and keep the weight off, for life. Develop a healthy eating plan, and don’t simply “binge and purge.” Don’t go off your diet once you’ve lost the weight you need to, or go back to your old eating habits. That’ll just make you gain the weight, so you’ll have to start again. Build a healthy diet plan, exercise some self-control, include some exercise in your day, and you’ll never “diet” again.
