Food For the Singer’s Voice

Disclaimer: The following list is not intended to treat, diagnose, or prevent any disease or illness. Before taking any of the following vitamins, mineral, or herbs, I urge you to contact your physician for consideration, and proper dosage amounts.

I have been asked many times if there were any “tricks” to keep your voice healthy. I don’t really consider hard work and vocal awareness a trick, but if you learn a solid vocal technique and maintain an awareness of how you treat your voice every day, you will improve. Another aspect to consider is vocal health. By “feeding” your body with the right nutrients, you can maintain over-all health. So I decided to focus this lesson on what nutrients best help to maintain a healthy vocal apparatus. What I am about to present to you is a review of my daily regimen; my list of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other areas I take into consideration to keep my voice healthy.

I shouldn’t say this out loud, but I might be what you would consider, a bit unhealthy. I had my tonsils removed when I was 3 years old, due to ongoing colds, and I was diagnosed with a rare skin disease at the age of 7 years old. I could possibly say that I have had several colds, every year of my life, for as long as I can remember. This includes basic colds to sinus infections, laryngitis, pharyngitis, and bronchitis. This is due to several factors; my tonsils were not completely removed and I have severe allergies. So I now take 6 allergy shots a week and use a water pick to keep my tonsils clean. Food can get lodged behind your tonsils and set up a home for bacteria to spread.

Before I started on shots, I had already noticed that the majority of singers I have met (including myself), were hypochondriacs! Singing can be a mental thing, and people have a tendency to get in their own way. A lot of times a sore throat is out of fear of performing, but there are still times when you are really sick. When you are tired of being sick, especially when you are a vocalist, you’ll try anything. So I decided to teach myself to be prepared for a sore throat. I have read deeply on the subject and came up with my own concoction of daily supplements. I have discovered what foods the voice needs to strengthen, replenish, and repair itself.

If you sing for hours a night, you are going to have to give your voice time to recuperate. First things first- PLENTY OF SLEEP! Your voice is very sensitive and when your body is tired, your voice will be the first to suffer. This is why when you are extremely tired, you feel like it’s too much work to talk. You could need 8-10 hours of sleep, especially after a long night of performing. You want be sure that you are well rested before you sing as well.

Singing, especially rock singing, takes a lot of physical energy. I also recommend some sort of exercise program. If you want to sing to your fullest potential, you must be in shape, as well as your voice. Cardiovascular exercise is best for a singer, preferably something such as jogging, or Tae Bo. Yoga and Tai Chi are excellent forms as well. Singing is a big part of breathing, and all of the preceding exercise programs focus on breathing.

I follow a specific nutrient regimen every day. When I wake up in the morning, I drink 8-10 ounces of water. I continue to drink water all day long. My daily water quota is a gallon. It used to be more. The more you drink, the better. Your vocal cords need lubrication to maintain their elasticity, and only water will do.

Every morning, I take a daily vitamin and mineral supplement. I also take an additional 1000 mg of chewable vitamin C, 1000 mg of Calcium, 400 mg of Magnesium, and 25 mg of Zinc. When your body is tired or under physical or mental stress, you will lose vitamin C, and Calcium. Both strengthen the immune system. When your body lacks vitamin C and Calcium, the immune system is weakened and you risk the chance of infection. Magnesium helps the body to maintain Calcium. Zinc is the singer’s mineral. Zinc helps to reduce the swelling of inflamed vocal cords, which is why I also take Zinc lozenges if I have a cold. I used to take a tablespoon of colloidal silver every morning. I purchased a colloidal silver generator from Sunstone Herbals. If you want to learn about colloidal silver and it’s benefits go to But I have since switched to using a water additive called X20 from This additive adds ionic silver, calcium and other important singer essentials.

There are also a couple herbs that I use every day as well. I take three, 500 mg capsules of licorice root. Licorice is natural cortisone, which will also reduce the swelling of inflamed vocal cords. You can pick some up at your local GNC. Slippery Elm root is also an excellent herb for singers. Slippery Elm soothes inflamed mucous membranes in the throat and mouth. The best source I have found is Throat Coat Tea by Traditional Medicinals. I try to drink a cup every day.

The day of a performance, I up my water quota. I also perform at least 20-30 minutes of warm ups before singing. By the time I hit the stage, I drive everybody crazy because I have to pee so much! But hey, I can sing all night long! I know this is probably unethical, but I also take 2 aspirin before I go onstage. Aspirin thins out the blood, so when I get the blood pumping to the vocal cords from all of the Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, and AC/DC I do, any vocal cord swelling is minimum. I’ll also occasionally suck on a lozenge. I’ll use anything that contains vitamin C, bee propolis, Zinc, apple pectin, slippery elm, licorice, or glycerin. I stay away from any menthol-based lozenges. Menthol dries out the vocal cords.

Again, at the end of the night, I warm down my voice by performing some the exercises from my Vocal Stress Release program. Do some research and create your own daily regimen. What works for me, won’t necessarily work for you. Regardless of what you do, if you try to live a healthy lifestyle, (plenty of rest, water, nutrients) you will have a longer vocal career. If you are really serious about singing I offer these words of advice. Find a good vocal coach and learn proper technique. If you are a smoker, QUIT!!! Smoke aggravates the cords and dries them. Alcohol is also another bad choice. Alcohol dries out the vocal cords. If you are interested in more information about vocal health, everything we have discussed in this lesson is discussed in greater detail in my book Raise Your Voice.

Uterine Fibroids – What to Do

Uterine growths can be either harmless or dangerous. Harmless growths or benign growths are non-cancerous and does not pose a threat. One such uterine growth is a polyp of the cervix. Another benign growth is a uterine fibroid though it can still cause annoying problems such as bleeding.

The cause of uterine fibroids is unknown. Family history may be involved as there is often a history of women in the same family developing these fibroids. Another unknown matter is why fibroids are three times more common in non-Caucasian women. Another factor is that overweight women are more likely to develop fibroids.

A fibroid is medically known as a leiomyoma, which is an unusual growth of smooth muscle tissue. Uterine fibroids arise from the tissue in the myometrium which is the muscle layer in the wall of the uterus. They are benign.

For most women with fibroids, there are generally no problems and they usually only become aware of their presence when they are detected during other diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.

Fibroids often cause no symptoms. However, larger fibroids may cause pressure, pelvic pain, pressure on the bladder, difficulty in passing urine, and pressure on the rectum causing pain during bowel movements.

Abnormal bleeding is a common symptom of a fibroid. This may be in the form of heavy or painful periods, lengthy periods or spotting between periods. If there is severe localised pain, it generally means that the uterine fibroids are deteriorating.

Although uterine fibroids are benign, they are commonly the reason for hysterectomy because of the bleeding. Sometimes the bleeding can be so significant as to cause anaemia. . Luckily, there are numerous non–surgical means on hand to treat fibroids.
Although fibroids do not need treatment, complications may develop. These include recurrent miscarriages, infertility, and complications in childbirth. However, these are usually only if there is unusual distortion of the uterus.

So how do you know if you have fibroids? Fibroids are detected through manual pelvic examination and any concerns are confirmed by ultrasound. It is very similar to a pregnancy examination and the doctor only orders more complex testing if unsure of the exact nature of the uterine growth found.

There are a number of available treatments dependent on severity of the symptoms, age of the woman, pregnancy, general health and type of fibroids. For some women, it is simply a case of regular routine monitoring.

If the fibroids are causing cramps or painful periods, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen or Naprosyn may be recommended. In some cases, birth control pills may be used to control the heavy periods and stop the fibroid from growing in mass. Because of the blood loss, iron supplements may also be required.

Hormonal therapy such as the Depo Leuprolide injection is sometimes prescribed to shrink the fibroids. This drug and others like it, reduce the production of estrogens and progesterone. This puts the hormones in a state similar to menopause and may cause similarly severe side effects such as hot flushes, loss of bone density, and vaginal dryness.

There are also surgical interventions available.

Hysteroscopic resection may be used when the fibroids are growing inside the uterine cavity. This is performed as an outpatient procedure and involves a small camera and instruments being inserted through the cervix into the uterus to remove the fibroids.

Another procedure is uterine artery embolisation where the blood supply to the fibroids is stopped. However, long term effects are yet to be determined and safety of pregnancy following this procedure is uncertain.

A myomectomy is a surgical procedure where only the fibroids are removed. It is frequently the chosen treatment women who still wish to have children, because it does not generally affect fertility.

Call your health care provider if you notice changes in your menstrual pattern such as increased blood flow, more frequent cramping and spotting between periods. You may also experience fullness or heaviness in your lower abdomen. There may also be pressure which affects normal urination.

10 Interesting Facts about Archangel Raphael

1. Raphael means “God heals.” Raphael heals physical, emotional and spiritual problems, and is sometimes known as the “divine physician.” Raphael is believed to have healed Abraham after his circumcision. Raphael also healed Jacob when he dislocated his hip after wrestling with an angel.

2. Raphael is usually pictured holding a fish. This is the fish that Tobias caught while travelling to Media with Raphael. Raphael told him to cut out the fish’s heart, liver and gall. Tobias, who did not know his travelling companion was Raphael, queried this strange request. The man told him that smoke made from the heart and liver would exorcise evil spirits, and the gall would restore the sight of someone with white film in his eyes. The trip was a success. Tobias was paid the money he was owed; he found a bride, and Raphael taught him how to use the smoke from the heart and liver to exorcise the demon inside his bride. On returning home, Raphael showed him how to use the gall to restore his father’s eyesight. Only then did Raphael identify himself.

3. As a result of his journey with Tobias, Raphael became known as the protector of travellers. He has an excellent sense of humour, and is a good travelling companion. This is why he is often depicted as a pilgrim, wearing a hat, and carrying a walking stick and a gourd containing either water or medicine.

4. Raphael is both a teacher and a healer. He taught Tobias how to heal his father. He teaches us how to heal ourselves from the self-inflicted wounds we create through our actions. He also heals the wounds of all mankind and has been called the Guardian Angel of Humanity.

5. According to Jewish legend, Raphael helped Noah gain the knowledge he needed to build his ark. After the flood subsided, he gave Noah a medical book.

6. Raphael helped King Solomon build his great temple. God gave Raphael a special ring to give to Raphael. This ring enabled Solomon to command thousands of demons to help finish the temple. This magic ring contained a pentagram, or five-sided star, on the seal. As a result of this, the pentagram became one of the first medical symbols.

7. It is likely that Raphael was the angel who entered the pool at Bethesda. The first person to enter the water at this famous healing center after the angel had disturbed it was instantly cured of whatever disease he had (John 5:2-4).

8. Raphael features in John Milton’s epic poem, Paradise Lost. During the course of a conversation, Adam asked Raphael if angels have sex. Raphael blushed as he explained that angels enjoy spiritual sex.

9. Raphael (1483-1520), the famous Italian artist, was named after the archangel, and painted him twice. In one of these, Raphael presents the infant Tobias to the Virgin Mary, who has the infant Jesus in her arms. Tobias is holding a small fish.

10. In 1918, an English nurse named Joy Snell wrote a book called The Ministry of Angels. In it she described how she regularly saw Raphael at the heads of seriously ill patients. Whenever she saw him, she knew the patient would recover.

What Is The Best Hemorrhoid Medicine To Eliminate Painful Symptoms and Flareups?

There are various types of hemorrhoid medicine. The trick is finding a solution that does more than simply conceal the problem, however.

Hemorrhoids are an uncomfortable reality for many of us. Understanding the causes is crucial to effective treatment solutions. Without understanding what prompts this uncomfortable and, often, embarrassing situation to develop can lead to undue amounts of stress. More importantly, there are many types of hemorrhoid medication available to help combat this uncomfortable situation. Many successful treatment options include the use of herbal remedies.

Hemorrhoids are simply a bulging of the veins in the anus or rectum area. They can develop when one remains in a sitting position too long or from staying too long on the toilet as a result of diarrhea or constipation. Straining from the aforementioned conditions or heavy lifting can also result in an abnormal rush of blood to the rectum area and the consequential swelling of the veins. Childbirth will often result in hemorrhoids, as well.

Sadly, many people are either too embarrassed to seek advise and treatment or opt to treat with ineffective products. Many manufacturers of hemorrhoid medication will claim to treat and heal the problem. While many products actually do bring relief, it may aggravate an already unpleasant situation further if the hemorrhoids continue to develop. It is simply unacceptable to treat the outlying problem. The sad result will inevitably be painful recurrence.

Ignoring the premeditating condition of hemorrhoids and treating only the overlying symptoms does little to actually treat the problem. Think of it this way: would you treat a fracture with Tylenol? Or, likewise, you would not repair a severe laceration with a Band Aid. Hemorrhoids require more than a simple treatment that masks the problem.

Further, without proper treatment, hemorrhoids may bleed profusely, resulting in anemia. With excessive pain and/or bleeding, it is also unlikely that you will be able to keep the anus clean, which can result in further problems. Hemorrhoid medicine is often a viable solution to try prior to resorting to surgery.

The first thing you should do if you experience excessive pain, burning, or itching in the rectum area is to consult your physician. Only a doctor can accurately identify the problem and he/she will be able to provide you with some options. Having done that, you may then begin reviewing your options. It may depend on whether your hemorrhoids are internal or external, the severity of the condition, and the pain you are experiencing.

Once a diagnosis has been made, talk with your doctor about pain relief as well as treatment of the problem itself. Some self-prescribed hemorrhoid medicine, such as Preparation H., can be effective in the short term. For instance, petroleum jelly and other creams such as Bag Balm can be applied directly to the anus for immediate relief of the surface pain and itching. Dry, cracked skin surfaces should feel improvement upon application. Doing this prior to a bowel movement also helps to lubricate the anal passage which can promote healthier, less painful trips to the restroom.

Consider all of your options, however. More people are opting to use more natural remedies for mild to moderate hemorrhoids, and even more severe cases. Many natural hemorrhoid medications include the use of herbal extracts such as Barberry, Butcher’s Broom, Horse Chestnut, Neem, and Slippery Elm. All of these products do more than simply conceal the problem. Rather, they actually promote proper healing and improved health.

The berberine-rich plants in Barberry are natural blood purifiers. Butcher’s Broom and Horse Chestnut are known for reducing the size of and strengthening the veins throughout the body. They have long been used to treat varicose veins and hemorrhoids. Further, Horse Chestnut and Neem in particular have anti-inflammatory properties. Neem is especially useful as a pain reliever as well as having the added benefit of anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Slippery Elm also soothes aggravated and inflamed skin.

Using comprehensive formulas where many of these herbs are utilized is usually the best treatment options, and typically results in faster recovery time. Whichever hemorrhoid medicine you choose, it’s important to balance your treatment options. Opt for a treatment plan that actually helps alleviate the problem, not simply covers it up.

The Right Ovarian Cysts Management

Ovarian cyst management should be carried out cautiously so as to avoid any future problems. The subject of ovarian cysts has been a source of worry for women for a long time. Much of the time, cysts do not represent any danger. Once we all understand the nature of cysts, then much of the worrying is finished.

Ovarian Cysts and Their Management:

General solutions for managing ovarian cysts require a few remarks. The first one is that classical treatment and medical surveillance is enough for a woman who is not a user of oral contraceptives, whose cystic structure is less than the dimensions of plum, who is still at an age where reproduction is possible, and who does not suffer pain (pain could be a element requiring obligatory surgical intervention).

Pathologic cysts may also display septations, which is the appearance of partitions of the tissues. When this occurs several different fluid compartments can be remarked. Pathologic cysts might also generate growths in the tissue modifying the smoothness of the cyst wall. These growths may be referred to as excrescences. To understand the cyst situation and to ascertain the exact size of the cyst, most doctors would employ the technique of ultrasounds. Neither septations nor excrescences exist in physiologic cysts. Surgical intervention may be mandatory when cysts are pathologic.

Second possibility:

If there is no malignancy, conventional surgery may be possible. This is also an option that permits a patient to keep the ovary. The medical appellation for this is ovarian cystectomy. Surgical techniques should whatever the circumstances minimize any tissue damage. Also to be adhered to is the meticulous control of any bleeding and plans to use adhesion barriers. It is an unfortunate fact that surgical operations on ovaries may bring on the development of “adhesions” causing pain. They may also lead to excessive sensitivity during sexual intercourse, or even cause infertility.

Such an ovarian cystectomy may be performed laparoscopically, that is to say using small incisions, or by using classical surgical methods. The first approach avoids leaving disfiguring marks, as well as pain and also leads to faster recovery. If one of the ovaries has been badly impacted in the cystic process but the other one has stayed normal, a doctor`s advice may be to extract the impacted ovary.

Third possibility:

For a woman who already gave birth to her children, it may be possible to ascertain via endometriosis if the cyst is the result of the collection of old blood, a particularity also known as chocolate cysts or endometria. When endometriosis also occurs elsewhere in the pelvis, then this surgical operation is typically mandatory instead of optional in order to resolve the difficulty permanently.

According to the kind of disease, the age of the patient and possible other pelvic disorders, hysterectomy and ablation of the ovary may be the right decisions. Ovarian cancer is a danger that in all cases must countered by surgery. The explanation for this is the feeble rate of survival without this solution.

Needle Aspiration and Various Factors:

Ovarian cysts develop in some six percent of post-menopausal women. It is a fact that most of these cysts are benign or functional. Certain factors including age, menopausal status, and the nature and dimensions of the cyst will determine how to manage ovarian cysts. Needle aspiration of ovarian cysts is then the best choice compared to classical or laparoscopic surgical intervention when the cysts are considered to be functional. The doctor should thus act in order to stop the development of any cancer that impacts 61 out of 100,000 women aged around 68.

However many questions have arisen in the minds of those concerned on the subject of needle aspiration and its rate of success. Needle aspiration can be performed using only local anaesthetic, which already makes it advantageous compared to other forms of surgical ablation. It is not necessary to enter a hospital for this technique.

The first thing to be determined is whether the cyst is malignant or not. Detection relies on establishing the presence or absence of vegetations. The relative levels of CA 125 serum were shown to be normal in around 97 percent of women who it seems had ovarian cysts, which is the same as saying that their cysts were benign. These studies were done some years ago. In the case of malignant tumours, the relative levels of serum were found to be higher. Methods of discovery today include ultrasonography, relative levels of CA 125 serum and clinical examination.

The least satisfactory method is clinical examination, as between 30 and 65 percent of ovarian tumours are usually left unidentified. A more effective technique is vaginal ultrasonography. Benign tumours are identified in up to 96 percent of all cases.

Ovarian Cytology:

Ovarian cytology has not yet demonstrated its complete reliability. Yet it has been shown that in encountering the situations of de Brux, such as instant fixation so as to avoid uninterruptible cells and double configuration, this procedure can then be effective.

Final possibility:

Medication or surgery also has the risk of secondary effects and associated difficulties. A holistic agenda using all natural elements is the best one that you can use to entirely eradicate the problems of ovarian cysts. Following this information on how to manage ovarian cysts, it is still imperative to understand that the basic problem must be remedied for any lasting solution. This must be done or there will be no change.

Are Muscles Stronger Than Bones?

You have approximately 206 bones that support your body. Your bones were made to be strong and light with the center being stronger than the end parts. As your body grows, so does your bones. Muscles surround your bones and give them support. Your bones and muscles work hand in hand so you can walk, bend, reach out for things, run dance and even sleep.

Calcium in Your Bones

The process of osteoclast melts old bones and osteoblast produce new bones. If the cells do not work well together, your bones will become brittle. You will then develop osteoporosis. Your bones have a large supply of calcium. As you get older, the supply of calcium is decreasing. The decrease in calcium consumption reduces the density of your bones.

Your Muscle Mechanism

You have more than 650 muscles in your body. Your muscle makes up more than half of your body’s weight. Your muscles weigh more than your bones. The coordination between your skeletal muscles, bones and joints allow your body to move smoothly and swiftly. Tendons attach muscles to your bones.

Stronger Muscles Create Stronger Bones

If you have strong muscles, it necessarily follows that you have strong bones. If you regularly exercise, you strengthen your muscles and the bones where these muscles are connected. As you age your muscle strength will decline. If you exercise, you will be able to strengthen your muscles and consequently strengthen your bones.

Along with exercise, proper nutrition will keep your muscles and bones healthy. Your bones and skeletal muscles work hand in hand. The nutrients you take in and the activities you engage in affect both your bones and muscles.

Vitamin D and calcium are the most important nutrients your bones and muscles need to be healthy. You can get your calcium supply from dairy products, green leafy vegetables, and food and juices fortified with calcium. Vitamin D on the other hand aids your body in calcium absorption. Vitamin D enhances he strength of your muscles and prevents them from weakening. Healthily exposing yourself to sunlight makes your body produce Vitamin D. Getting at least 15 minutes of sunlight each day will make your body produce the Vitamin D you need.

Throughout your lifetime, you build and rebuild your muscles. Your bone mass (muscle) however peaks when you are around 20 years old. As you get older, your bones and muscles will tend to deteriorate. Eating food that concentrates on wellness during childhood, will assure you of healthy bones and muscles through your life. It is more important for women to have healthy bones and muscles than men. This is so because as women age, they lose more bone mass. Women too have more risk of developing osteoporosis.

How to Make a Woman Gush in Seconds – A Step-By-Step Guide to Female Ejaculation for Men

The science behind the female ejaculating orgasm proves that every woman has the ability to achieve this pleasure paralysis inducing orgasm. The question then remains, why aren’t women having this type of orgasm all of the time?

The answer is because this orgasm feels a lot like urinating to a woman. Of course the orgasm itself feels amazing and brings a woman more pleasure than anything else in her lifetime could bring, it is the moment before that frightens women and that forces them to keep the orgasm inside, never allowing their bodies to let loose and to enjoy the moment.

Therefore, it is up to us men to learn how to bypass this obstacle and to learn how to make a woman gush in seconds. Even though it may sound like a difficult task and although it may seem nearly impossible, once you learn this step-by-step guide to female ejaculation, you are going to be able to send her into pure orgasm heaven by the time you are done with her.

Step 1 – get her in the mood. The biggest key to making a woman gush is that you must get her to WANT to. If she has any hesitation or doubt, then you know it won’t happen. You need to make her relax both sexually and emotionally. If at any moment she resists, then you won’t get the ending you are hoping to get. You must get her in the mood, not only with her body but with her mind as well. Step 1 may be the most difficult task, but once you are past this, it is smooth sailing.

Step 2 – stimulate the clitoris to get her aroused. The focus of the female squirting orgasm all has to do with g-spot stimulation. However, you cannot stimulate a woman internally until you get her body lubricated so your fingers can enter her. You need to touch her clitoris and to stimulate it briefly until her body is ready for you.

Step 3- go fast on the g-spot. Since the g-spot has less nerve endings than the clitoris, this gives you a little room to play with. You can go fast on her body and you won’t end up hurting her. Don’t be afraid to use a little force on her body and to speed it up. Here is where you want to go fast as she is nearing her climax because you want to push it out of her.

Step 4- double up on clitoral and g-spot stimulation at the end. When she is on the brink of climax, you want to help to give her all of the stimulation in the world so she can reach that pivotal climax that will change the way she looks and thinks of pleasure. In order to do this, sometimes you have to give more than is expected. Use your fingers to not only stimulate the g-spot, but to also stimulate the clitoris at this point in time. The more you give, the more you get.

By utilizing this step-by-step guide to female ejaculation, you can make a woman gush and you can make it happen in seconds. Be prepared for the show tonight.

A Cure for Thrush for the Chronic Sufferer

If you’re searching for a cure for Thrush then there’s a very good chance that you’ve probably been searching for some time. One of the most unfortunate aspects of Thrush is that it does become chronic for many sufferers, as many find they are continually on the treatment merry-go-round. Thrush symptoms start to appear, they seek treatment and then it either clears up for a while and then comes back or the symptoms recede before slowly getting worse.

Many Thrush sufferers are at their wits ends. Some even get to the stage where they give up and slowly start to accept that Thrush is something that they’ll just have to live with for the rest of their lives.

This is very unfortunate indeed as some of the symptoms of Thrush can be quite nasty and can actually lead to other health issues and a debilitating lifestyle. Therefore, whether you are a sufferer of chronic Thrush or whether you have contracted it for the first time then you must understand this…..

There is a cure for Thrush. Thrush can be treated and it can be prevented so you can live a life free from Thrush and it’s debilitating symptoms.

What you’re about to discover may just be the most important information any Thrush sufferer will ever see. It’s also where many suffers make their first mistake and this is how many Thrush infections become chronic.

Most Thrush sufferers only treat the symptoms and that’s where they stop. Treating the symptoms of your Thrush will not cure your Thrush. If you just treat the symptoms then there is a very good chance that your Thrush will continually come back.

Therefore, it’s important to understand that the symptoms you might be experiencing are a reflection of a much deeper health problem. Despite that fact that they might be very unpleasant and have the potential to affect your health greatly, they are after all a warning that you do have other underlying health issues that need to be addressed.

These health issues have left the door open for a Thrush infection to develop and may also leave the door open for other health issues to arise as well. If you continue to only treat the symptoms and ignore the warning signs, you’ll not only end up with a chronic Thrush infection but also other health issues as well. Health issues that are the result of the very same problem that’s causing your Thrush in the first place.

If you want a permanent cure for your Thrush it’s vitally important you treat the cause. The consequences of ignoring what is causing your Thrush are too great. Addressing the root cause of Thrush and correcting it, is the only way to cure your Thrush and keep it away permanently.

Understanding that Thrush is caused by Candida cells which occur naturally in and on the body of nearly every human being on the planet is very important. Everyone has the potential to become infected with a Thrush infection but not everybody does.

Candida’s normally kept under control by the body’s immune system and naturally occurring good bacteria. When one or both of these factors are out of balance the very opportunistic Candida cells rapidly proliferate in and/or on your the body. The end result is a Thrush infection. Understanding why this happens is the secret to treating the cause of your Thrush.

You can use any of the Thrush treatments that only treat the symptoms. But it’ll just keep coming back. Eventually, you’ll end up with an embarrassing and irritating Thrush infection that affects your lifestyle so badly you’ll fear there’s no cure for Thrush in sight.

The only permanent cure for Thrush is the one that addresses the reasons why you contracted your Thrush infection in the first place. Only then will you finally get some permanent relief.

Conjunctivitis – Dos, Don’ts and Myths

Most parts of our country are rejoicing with the start of the rainy season. The parched earth assumes a rejuvenated new appearance and the farmer heaves a sigh of relief. However, like all the other seasons, it does bring with it some specific risks and illnesses.”Eye Flu” or Conjunctivitis is one such affliction. Every year, around this time, the incidence of eye flu increases dramatically.

Conjunctivitis is an infection & inflammation of the eye membrane on the white portion of the eyeball and under the eyelids. It is usually caused by virus or bacteria which are highly contagious. Stagnant water, unfinished construction, air pollution and humid weather are perfect breeding conditions for virus and bacteria.

Conjunctivitis causes redness, itching, discharge (watery or thick), crusting that forms overnight, eye ache, sensitivity to light and gritty feeling in the eyes. A burning sensation is also quite common. It may be preceded or followed by fever, cold or sore throat in a few patients. In rare cases, pus formation may be noticed inside the eye. Conjunctivitis is generally not a serious problem. But it is important to consult at any best eye hospital, because if the flu is severe and not treated in time, it may affect the cornea and cause keratitis or ulcers affecting vision. Bacterial conjunctivitis is generally treated with antibiotic drops or ointment along with anti-inflammatory eye drops. Oral antihistamines and anti-inflammatory medications may help relieve symptoms.

Some tips for managing the disease:

· Wash your hands with soap & water or use hand sanitizer throughout the day.

· Individuals having conjunctivitis must pay particular attention to hygiene-do not share clothing, personal items, toiletries, etc.

· Do not touch your eyes repeatedly.

· Avoid public places and swimming.

· Frequent washing of hands with soap and water or sanitizer should be ensured by patients and everybody else around them.

· Frequent eye wash with cold filter water & cold compression with ice packs helps in relieving symptoms.

· To wipe eyes, use tissue paper and dispose of it properly in the dustbin.

· Wear sunglasses to avoid glare and decrease accidental eye contact with fingers.

· Antibiotic and anti inflammatory eye drops to be used as prescribed by eye specialist-preferably have a separate set of eye drops for each eye.

· People with conjunctivitis should avoid public places and handshakes, sharing their clothing, bedding or sunglasses.

· Do not rub your eyes.

· Temporarily avoid the usage of contact lenses.

· Do not share eye drops -it can cause cross contamination.

· Do not use steroid eye drops or over the counter medicines from chemist without seeing an Ophthalmologist.

· One can get conjunctivitis by looking at a person suffering with same-it is not an airborne disease and spreads only through contact.

· Using any eye drop prior can prevent conjunctivitis-there is no preventive anti-viral eye drop.

Note:People with conjunctivitis can join back offices & school after few days-there should be no watering or matting of eyelashes by this time.

Liver biopsy and blood tests are the diagnostic techniques used in confirming the attack of this disease. Natural treatment with foods, nutrients and herbal medicines obtained from nature can cure fatty liver filtration.

Changing over to healthy way of life and taking balanced diet will be of immense help in curing hepatic steatosis. Do exercises regularly and avoid tobacco, alcohol and oily, spicy and fatty foods. Salads, meat, boiled or baked vegetables, foods high in fiber and low in calories and saturated fats can strengthen the liver. Grapefruit is rich in vitamin-C and burns fats and restricts development of fatty liver .Drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juices.

Allow Nature to Cure You

Milk thistle, licorice, artichoke and dandelion can cleanse, heal and rebuild the liver. Rosemary and phyllanthus are effective in restoring the normal functioning of the liver.

Red Penis Query: Does Diabetes Cause Balanitis?

Although there are many causes of a red penis – including totally benign ones such as too much friction – when the red penis presents with balanitis, a man needs to take some appropriate penis health steps. Balanitis is a common issue for some men – and it may be more common for men who have diabetes.

What exactly is balanitis? It is defined as a condition in which the penis becomes inflamed, usually on the glans (or “head”) of the penis. The name is derived from a Greek word which means acorn, a reference to the vaguely acorn shape of the glans. Any man can have balanitis, but it tends to be more prevalent in men who are intact.

Although the exact number of men who have or have had balanitis is unknown, studies indicate that between 3% and 11% of men in the United States have experienced it. Children and adolescents tend to be more susceptible to balanitis, but many adult men deal with it as well.

What causes it?

Balanitis is an inflammation, which means that some sort of infection – usually bacterial or yeast-based – is present. This is more likely to occur due to improper hygiene; a man does not clean sufficiently in the area and an infection develops. It can sometimes be difficult to clean beneath the foreskin, which is why balanitis may be more likely to occur in an intact man.

In other cases, using too strong a cleanser can be the inciting cause of balanitis. A soap with very harsh chemicals or fragrances may irritate the skin, bringing about the inflammation.

But diabetes can also be a contributing factor to the development of balanitis. Some sources even suggest that diabetes is the main cause of balanitis in adult males. Since diabetes is an increasingly common issue, especially as men get older, it is important to understand the connection between diabetes and balanitis.

As most people know, diabetes is a condition in which the body is unable to properly regulate the amount of sugar in the blood (also called the glucose level). Blood sugar is the key to a person’s energy level and plays a big role in developing and maintaining muscles and tissues. When those levels are too low or too high, it can cause significant problems.

What does diabetes have to do with balanitis? It usually occurs when blood sugar levels are too high. Some of that excess sugar gets into the urine. When a man urinates, some residue often remains on the glans or slips down beneath the foreskin. If the urine is full of sugar, the drops that get waylaid on the penis will deposit that sugar when the urine evaporates. The presence of that sugar causes the inflammation, and a red penis results.

A man with diabetes needs to follow his prescribed course of treatment to properly monitor and maintain his blood glucose levels. He also needs to take appropriate steps to insure that his penis – especially the glans and foreskin – is kept well-washed and free of bacteria or other contaminants.

A healthy habit

A man with diabetes who wants to avoid balanitis and the resulting red penis should maintain his penis health by regular use of a first-rate penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). The itchiness and rashiness associated with balanitis respond well to a crème that has potent moisturizers, including Shea butter and vitamin E. Balanitis may also contribute to penis odor issues, so a crème with vitamin A is recommended; the antibacterial properties of this vitamin go a long way toward suppressing unwanted stench emanating from the penis. Whether a man has diabetes or not, use of a penis health crème is advised.

Relationship Between Blood Sugar and Cholesterol

After eating a meal, it is normal for blood sugar (glucose) concentration to rise. Usually for an hour or two while muscles and cells absorb and use the glucose for energy after which the levels return to normal. Insulin, a hormone secreted by the pancreas, facilitates the glucose-absorption process. It helps the body utilize blood glucose by binding with receptors on cells like a key fits into a lock allowing the blood sugar to enter the cells. When glucose levels remain high for longer than they should, blood sugar may oxidize protein which causes damage to internal organs and this creates a cause for concern. Blood sugar levels remaining high, is usually an indication of the cells becoming insulin resistant. Insulin resistance occurs when the normal amount of insulin secreted by the pancreas is not able to unlock the door to the cells. To maintain normal blood glucose concentrations, the pancreas secretes additional insulin. In some cases (about 1/3 of the people with insulin resistance), when the body cells resist or do not respond to even high levels of insulin, glucose builds up in the blood resulting in high-blood glucose or type 2 diabetes.

The exact cause leading to insulin resistance is not known, but type 2 diabetes is on the rise as more and more people in the U.S. become obese, physically inactive, or both. Diabetes is preceded by obesity 90 percent of the time. Obesity and physical inactivity aggravate insulin resistance. Also, people who are insulin resistant typically have an imbalance in their blood lipids (blood fat), with an increased level of triglycerides (blood fat) and a decreased level of HDL (good) cholesterol. These imbalances in triglycerides and HDL cholesterol increase the risk of heart disease. Hence, total cholesterol levels of diabetics and prediabetics tend to be dangerously high.

Insulin resistance and high cholesterol go hand in hand because obesity and physical inactivity are two of the risk parameters for high total cholesterol. Cholesterol concerns the amount of fat in the blood and diabetes concerns the level of glucose in the blood. When both conditions get together, the consequences can be quite destructive and deadly.

As people deposit fat around their waistlines, their blood sugars tend to rise. Belly fat is metabolically different than the fat that accumulates elsewhere in the body and is really dangerous. Fat that settles around the waist produces some harmful substances that cause inflammation and clotting and also contribute to the development of diabetes. It can be said that belly fat is not only hazardous from a diabetic viewpoint but also from an atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries one as well.

High cholesterol and diabetes have the same basic causes. They are related like two brothers or two sisters. Most diabetics have to work closely with their heart doctors as well as any specialists in diabetes. And many obese-sedentary persons with high cholesterol are only a few steps away from becoming insulin resistant and full-blown type 2 diabetics.

What is the natural treatment for high blood sugar? The same as for high cholesterol: eating heart-healthy foods, getting the weight under control, and exercising at least 30 minutes a day for five or more days a week.

Kawasaki Syndrome – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Kawasaki syndrome, also called mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome, is a potentially fatal inflammatory disorder which occurs mostly in infants and children, and affects several organ systems in the body including the skin, mucous membranes, circulatory system, heart and the immune system. Males are affected more than females, and this condition is more common in persons of Asian descent. This condition is believed to be an allergic reaction or an unusual response to certain types of infections. Common signs and symptoms include an abrupt onset; high fever; skin rash followed by peeling; redness and swelling of mucous membranes; a strawberry appearance of the tongue; lymph node enlargement; arthritis; pneumonia; diarrhea; meningitis; myocarditis, arrhythmias, and arteritis; and occasionally, gangrene.

The Ayurvedic treatment of Kawasaki syndrome is aimed at treating the symptoms and preventing or minimizing the complications. Medicines like Chandrakala-Ras, Kamdudha-Ras and Maha-Sudarshan-Churna are used to treat fever. Skin rash, redness, swelling and peeling of skin and mucous membranes can be treated using medicines like Arogya-Vardhini, Gandhak-Rasayan, Maha-Manjishthadi-Qadha, Saarivadi-Churna, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut-Guggulu, Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Nimba (Azadirachta indica), Haridra (Curcuma longa), Daruharidra (Berberis aristata), Khadeer (Acacia catechu), Bhrungraj (Eclipta alba), Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), Mandukparni (Centella asiatica), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra) and Karanj (Pongamia pinnata).

Local application on the skin is equally important in preventing the rash, redness, swelling and peeling. An ointment containing Mandukparni, Yashtimadhuk, Manjishtha, Saariva, Haridra and Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) can be used for this purpose. Other medicines like Shatadhout-Ghrut, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut and Yashtimadhuk-Ghrut are also quite useful in this condition.

Lymph node enlargement can be treated using medicines like Punarnavadi-Guggulu and Kachnaar-Guggulu. Arthritis can be treated using Triphala-Guggulu, Yograj-Guggulu and Kaishor-Guggulu. Meningitis can be treated using medicines like Maha-Yograj-Guggulu, Saraswatarishta, Chandrakala-Ras and Punarnavadi-Qadha. Diseases of the heart and blood vessels can be treated using medicines like Maha-Manjishthadi-Qadha, Punarnavadi-Guggulu, Gokshuradi-Guggulu, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut-Guggulu, Arjunarishta, Dashmoolarishta and Drakshasav. Long term complications of this disease, like coronary thrombosis and aneurysm, can be prevented by using medicines like Panch-Tikta-Ghrut-Guggulu, Laxadi-Guggulu, Medohar-Guggulu, Draksha (Vitis vinifera), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Guggulu (Commiphora mukul), Lashuna (Allium sativum) Psyllium (Plantago ovata), Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa) and Arjun (Terminalia arjuna).

While most patients with Kawasaki syndrome recover completely, complications account for death in about 1 to 2% of those affected, with 95% of fatalities occurring within 6 months of infection. Deaths are sudden and unpredictable. Intensive hospital care in the acute stages and regular, long term follow up by qualified and experienced physicians is therefore, very important. Ayurvedic medicines can be given as additional therapy to bring about a faster therapeutic response, speed up the recovery process and prevent death from complications.

Caring for the Uncircumcised Penis – Tips for Good Hygiene, Health and Penis Sensation

Recent research concerning the benefits and drawbacks of circumcision seems to contradict itself, with one faction claiming that circumcision reduces the risk of HIV infection, while the other side denies the accuracy of this finding and notes that circumcision can lead to problems like diminished sensitivity and even impotence in some men.

While both sides of the argument may have some merits, most men are more immediately concerned about dealing with their own situation. For men who have an uncircumcised penis, understanding how to care for it properly through proper hygiene and the use of penis vitamins and minerals can help to avoid ongoing problems such as infection, irritation and sensitivity issues. Below are some of the problems that are often related to an uncircumcised penis and what can be done to avoid them.

· Yeast infection– The skin is covered with millions of tiny yeast spores; these are generally harmless, but under the right conditions, they can grow rapidly, resulting in red, itchy skin that may be accompanied by swelling and pain. The warm, moist environment found under the foreskin is ideal for yeast overgrowth, and yeast infections in this area are common. Cleaning the area thoroughly every day and treating the skin with vitamins such as A, C and D can help to maintain the body’s normal chemical balance and avoid the development of uncomfortable yeast infections.

· Balanitis– Men with an intact foreskin are prone to a penis disorder known as balanitis, which may be diagnosed when the area under the foreskin becomes inflamed, red, and sore; these symptoms may be accompanied by painful urination if the urethral opening is affected. Proper hygiene is the key to preventing this painful and unattractive condition. In addition, nutrients such as vitamin A, which has natural antibacterial properties, can help the body to fight off infections such as balanitis.

· Phimosis– This condition is fairly common among men with an uncircumcised penis. It occurs when the foreskin is so tight that it is impossible to retract it completely; attempting to pull it back can cause considerable pain. Men with this condition often find that their glans is hypersensitive, making masturbation and sex an extremely uncomfortable exercise. Gentle retraction of the foreskin over time and gradual desensitization are recommended for treating phimosis. Using a natural moisturizer such as shea butter, which is generally safe even for the most sensitive skin, can help ease the process of retracting the foreskin. As the glans is desensitized through gentle touch, supporting skin health with nourishing vitamins such as E, A and B5 can help to maintain the skin’s natural hydration and prevent drying and irritation.

· Foul odors– Foul body odors are generally caused by bacteria, and odors of the genital area are no exception. Particularly when poor hygiene is a factor, the penis can develop an unpleasant aroma that may be off-putting to potential partners. Using a natural antibacterial such as vitamin A is a safe and effective way to reduce odors and keep the penis and surrounding area pleasant.

· Soreness and irritation– Even with an intact foreskin, aggressive masturbation can cause irritation of the penis skin, including on the head and shaft. Keeping the area well moisturized and boosting the skin’s healing properties with the right combination of vitamins, amino acids and natural moisturizers may help to reduce soreness, irritation and red penis issues.

Maintaining healthy penis skin by treating it with a specialized penis health formula (most health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) containing nourishing vitamins and minerals, as well as antioxidants and all-natural moisturizers may help to prevent many of the problems that can affect an uncircumcised penis. Applying a vitamin formula every day can be effective in maintaining the skin’s natural elasticity, stave off infections, and maintain the natural lubricating qualities of the foreskin.
