The History of Eureka Vacuum Cleaners

The history of Eureka vacuum cleaners begins in Detroit, Michigan in 1909 with a man named Fred Wardell. Within three years, the Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Company was selling six models of vacuum cleaners that also came with attachments specialized for different cleaning jobs. Because Eureka’s vacuum cleaners were lighter and better designed than their competitors and had such innovative attachments including a hair dryer, Eureka was awarded the grand prize at the San Francisco International Exposition in 1915. Within five years, the Eureka Company was able to produce about 2,000 vacuum cleaners per day from their 3.5 acre Detroit factory. A decade later in 1930, Eureka began manufacturing electric ranges.

By 1942, Eureka halted the production of vacuum cleaners at the Detroit factory in order to produce gas masks and other items to support the war efforts during World War II. Following the war, Eureka merged with Williams Oil-O-Matic, a company known for its heating business, forming the Eureka-Williams Company. By the end of the 1940’s Eureka-Williams would be known for a contraption called a “Wooden Lung” that was used in the treatment of people with polio and for children stricken with infantile paralysis. A decade later, in 1957, Eureka-Williams returned to its roots and began to focus on vacuum cleaners and floor care products again.

Over time, Eureka-Williams extended its reach to include the production of school furniture, the introduction of the Henney Kilowatt (a battery-operated car), and even a thermal battery for NASA. In 1974, Eureka-Williams was purchased by AB Electrolux, a Swedish company, and the name was changed to The Eureka Company. For the next twenty years, The Eureka Company expanded its operations to manufacturing plants in Mexico, Texas and Illinois.

In the early 2000’s The Eureka Company began to offer Eletrolux vacuum cleaners and in 2004, the company officially changed its name to Electrolux Home Care Products North America. In 2009, Eureka celebrated 100 years of history and brand innovation. Today, Eureka is considered a part of the home products division of Electrolux and continues to focus on vacuum cleaners and other cleaning products including three other brands: Electrolux, Electrolux Central Vacuum Systems and Sanitaire.

There is a full array of cleaning products under the Eureka brand alone, including not only uprights and canisters, but home built in systems and steam cleaners, to list just a few. Eureka has also paired up with Arm & Hammer to produce a new generation of vacuum cleaner products and has joined Filtrete to round out the line of consumer goods available in the marketplace.

In addition to the ongoing development of new designs and innovative products, Eureka also continues to manufacture replacement parts for almost all makes and models of vacuums. Always at the forefront of innovation, Eureka vacuums continue to impress the market with its ability to lead in quality and value yet meet and surpass environmental standards with its products. Food For the Singer’s Voice

Disclaimer: The following list is not intended to treat, diagnose, or prevent any disease or illness. Before taking any of the following vitamins, mineral, or herbs, I urge you to contact your physician for consideration, and proper dosage amounts.

I have been asked many times if there were any “tricks” to keep your voice healthy. I don’t really consider hard work and vocal awareness a trick, but if you learn a solid vocal technique and maintain an awareness of how you treat your voice every day, you will improve. Another aspect to consider is vocal health. By “feeding” your body with the right nutrients, you can maintain over-all health. So I decided to focus this lesson on what nutrients best help to maintain a healthy vocal apparatus. What I am about to present to you is a review of my daily regimen; my list of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other areas I take into consideration to keep my voice healthy.

I shouldn’t say this out loud, but I might be what you would consider, a bit unhealthy. I had my tonsils removed when I was 3 years old, due to ongoing colds, and I was diagnosed with a rare skin disease at the age of 7 years old. I could possibly say that I have had several colds, every year of my life, for as long as I can remember. This includes basic colds to sinus infections, laryngitis, pharyngitis, and bronchitis. This is due to several factors; my tonsils were not completely removed and I have severe allergies. So I now take 6 allergy shots a week and use a water pick to keep my tonsils clean. Food can get lodged behind your tonsils and set up a home for bacteria to spread.

Before I started on shots, I had already noticed that the majority of singers I have met (including myself), were hypochondriacs! Singing can be a mental thing, and people have a tendency to get in their own way. A lot of times a sore throat is out of fear of performing, but there are still times when you are really sick. When you are tired of being sick, especially when you are a vocalist, you’ll try anything. So I decided to teach myself to be prepared for a sore throat. I have read deeply on the subject and came up with my own concoction of daily supplements. I have discovered what foods the voice needs to strengthen, replenish, and repair itself.

If you sing for hours a night, you are going to have to give your voice time to recuperate. First things first- PLENTY OF SLEEP! Your voice is very sensitive and when your body is tired, your voice will be the first to suffer. This is why when you are extremely tired, you feel like it’s too much work to talk. You could need 8-10 hours of sleep, especially after a long night of performing. You want be sure that you are well rested before you sing as well.

Singing, especially rock singing, takes a lot of physical energy. I also recommend some sort of exercise program. If you want to sing to your fullest potential, you must be in shape, as well as your voice. Cardiovascular exercise is best for a singer, preferably something such as jogging, or Tae Bo. Yoga and Tai Chi are excellent forms as well. Singing is a big part of breathing, and all of the preceding exercise programs focus on breathing.

I follow a specific nutrient regimen every day. When I wake up in the morning, I drink 8-10 ounces of water. I continue to drink water all day long. My daily water quota is a gallon. It used to be more. The more you drink, the better. Your vocal cords need lubrication to maintain their elasticity, and only water will do.

Every morning, I take a daily vitamin and mineral supplement. I also take an additional 1000 mg of chewable vitamin C, 1000 mg of Calcium, 400 mg of Magnesium, and 25 mg of Zinc. When your body is tired or under physical or mental stress, you will lose vitamin C, and Calcium. Both strengthen the immune system. When your body lacks vitamin C and Calcium, the immune system is weakened and you risk the chance of infection. Magnesium helps the body to maintain Calcium. Zinc is the singer’s mineral. Zinc helps to reduce the swelling of inflamed vocal cords, which is why I also take Zinc lozenges if I have a cold. I used to take a tablespoon of colloidal silver every morning. I purchased a colloidal silver generator from Sunstone Herbals. If you want to learn about colloidal silver and it’s benefits go to http://www.sunstoneherbals.com. But I have since switched to using a water additive called X20 from singerswater.com. This additive adds ionic silver, calcium and other important singer essentials.

There are also a couple herbs that I use every day as well. I take three, 500 mg capsules of licorice root. Licorice is natural cortisone, which will also reduce the swelling of inflamed vocal cords. You can pick some up at your local GNC. Slippery Elm root is also an excellent herb for singers. Slippery Elm soothes inflamed mucous membranes in the throat and mouth. The best source I have found is Throat Coat Tea by Traditional Medicinals. I try to drink a cup every day.

The day of a performance, I up my water quota. I also perform at least 20-30 minutes of warm ups before singing. By the time I hit the stage, I drive everybody crazy because I have to pee so much! But hey, I can sing all night long! I know this is probably unethical, but I also take 2 aspirin before I go onstage. Aspirin thins out the blood, so when I get the blood pumping to the vocal cords from all of the Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, and AC/DC I do, any vocal cord swelling is minimum. I’ll also occasionally suck on a lozenge. I’ll use anything that contains vitamin C, bee propolis, Zinc, apple pectin, slippery elm, licorice, or glycerin. I stay away from any menthol-based lozenges. Menthol dries out the vocal cords.

Again, at the end of the night, I warm down my voice by performing some the exercises from my Vocal Stress Release program. Do some research and create your own daily regimen. What works for me, won’t necessarily work for you. Regardless of what you do, if you try to live a healthy lifestyle, (plenty of rest, water, nutrients) you will have a longer vocal career. If you are really serious about singing I offer these words of advice. Find a good vocal coach and learn proper technique. If you are a smoker, QUIT!!! Smoke aggravates the cords and dries them. Alcohol is also another bad choice. Alcohol dries out the vocal cords. If you are interested in more information about vocal health, everything we have discussed in this lesson is discussed in greater detail in my book Raise Your Voice.

Skin Rash

You know when you have a rash. Its an outbreak of red bumps on the skin. The most common types of rash are as follows. Scaly patches of skin not caused by infection. Scaly patches of skin caused by a fungus or bacterial infection. Red itchy bumps scattered randomly on the skin.

Rashes are seldom dangerous self diagnosis is not a good idea. The proper evaluation of a rash should be done by a doctor. A doctor can determine what type of rash you have and prescribe proper treatment. Scaly patches of skin that are not caused by an infection are usually referred to as eczema. Atopic dermatitis is the most common type of eczema. This type is hereditary and often appears in childhood as chapped cheeks and scaly patches on the hands, legs torso and arms. This type of eczema appears on adults on the hands, genitals, eyelids and can appear almost anywhere on the body.

This type of eczema is inherited from your parents. Atopic dermatitis can apear and disappear for no apparant reason but things like the weather can have an effect on it.
The word “dermatitis” means inflammation of the skin, “atopic means hereditary. Hereditary means that it runs in your family.

Diseases that are hereditary often occur together, that is they can tend to make their appearance simultaneously. In atopic dermatitis the skin can become inflamed and itchy with swelling and cracking and can include weeping, crusting and scaling. People afflicted with this type of rash may also have allergies but most cases of this type of rash are not the result of an allergic reaction. This type of rash is not contagious even though spread patterns may make it apear as though it is.

Another type of rash is “contact dermatitis”. This type of rash is brought on by contact with a substance that is irritating to the skin. This can be any one of a number of things including allergic reactions to substances or contact with chemical irritants.

This type of rash can be causes by poison ivy or poison oak as well as prolonged contact with something like gasoline or strong cleaning products. Frequently it is caused by exposure to nickel in costume jewelry. Almost everyone has experienced this type of rash at some point in their life.

Topical treatments such as ointments along with avoidance of what caused the rash in the first place are the usual prescription for this type of rash.

Another type of rash is red or scaly patches of skin caused by fungus or bacterial infection. Fungus infections are the most common. They have nothing to do with hygiene clean people get them as well as those who might not be so clean. In contrary to the myth they are not highly contagious.

They are not easily transmitted in gym shower or locker rooms or on toilet seats. Antifungal creams are the usual course of treatment. Many of these types of creams can be purchased over the counter at your local drug store.

Another type of rash is a bacterial infection. This type of rash is caused by a bacteria rather than a fungus. Again hygene plays little or no part in this infection. Treatment for this type of rash might include oral antibiotics and a perscription strength topical ointment. The over the counter treatment that are effective on fubgus caused rashes are just not very effective on bacterial rashes.

Viral rashes are caused by a viral infection. They can come as a symptom to a disease like chicken pocks or herpes or a number of other diseases. But this is not always the case the viral infection can also be just the rash itself. Many diseases do have a rash as one of their symptoms though

Allergic drug rashes are caused by an allergic reaction to a drug. Many people are allergic to a specific drug and a rash can apear days or weeks after taking the drug they are allergic to. A common drug that people are allergic to is penicillin.

Treatment for this type of rash is to discontinue the use of the drug and wait for it to go away. Topical treatments to sooth the itching are available over the counter. In extreme cases you may require a perscription strength topical treatment.

Type 2 Diabetes – Can Diabetics Be Great Athletes?

Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disorder associated with a family history of diabetes, obesity and even a lack of exercise. For many years Type 2 diabetes has been typically linked to myths, ideas and misconceptions that individuals suffering from this form of diabetes are always fat and lazy due to their inactive lifestyle. In contrast, reviews show anyone can develop Type 2 diabetes… even lean, active individuals. This way of thinking has many people wondering whether Type 2 diabetics can be great athletes.

Research has shown they can! Diabetes sufferers only need to:

  • make firm choices,
  • be proactive, and
  • maintain a positive attitude towards their health status.

This way they are able to lead normal lives like the other athletes who do not suffer from Type 2 diabetes. It doesn’t matter the kind of athletics they engage in, as long as they are exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

To prove this, many of the top athletes in the world suffer from chronic Type 2 diabetes. Have a look at this list:

  • Serena Williams… a woman who is known to dominate in women’s tennis.
  • Lionel Messi… one of the greatest soccer players of all time.
  • Sidney Crosby… a world-class hockey player.
  • Steve Redgrave… won his fifth consecutive gold medal in the 2000 Olympics.
  • Adam Morrison… an NBA star who plays for the Charlotte Bobcats.
  • Gary Hall… Olympic gold medal winner in swimming.
  • Kendall Simmons… offensive lineman for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

These individuals have made the choice that diabetes is not going to control their lives… these athletes took up the challenge and decided they were going to control their lives and their diabetes. They know the condition can be kept at bay as long as they are willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.

The key to managing the disease is to control what is being placed in the body for energy and how effectively that energy is being used. Food choices are the first half of this equation since this is where most people get tripped up. The leaner the body, the more effective it is at burning available calories. The more excess weight the body carries, the harder it is for the body to fight to maintain normal blood sugar levels.

As athletes can tell you, exercise is the other important factor in managing Type 2 diabetes. While athletes may be well conditioned to endure strenuous levels of activity, any individual no matter what their level of fitness, can start out with low-impact exercise to build strength and trim their body fat. Athletes aren’t born in superb shape, each has to start at the beginning.

Is There A Connection Between Physical Exercise And Better Eyesight?

In our American society today the excessive use of technological devices encourages inactive lifestyles. Some of these activities include sitting at the computer all day, surfing the web for long hours and generally spending lots of time watching television. An increasing number of Americans are developing vision conditions and eye diseases at high rates. For example, according to the National Eye Institute, 14 million Americans have vision problems. Of these, 11 million account for people who can correct their vision problems with the use of glasses or contact lenses. Whereas, 3 million of these people account for individuals with eyesight problems that cannot be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. The question is, is there a connection between these inactive lifestyles that contributes to poor eyesight and the development of eye diseases?

INACTIVITY LINKED TO OBESITY, POOR HEART AND EYE HEALTH

If we take a look at the biology of the body the circulatory system is very connective and good blood circulation, the kind that regular physical exercise encourages, not only improves heart health but improves vision health as well because the heart and the eyes are connected. A good blood flow of circulation to the heart in turn provides a sufficient amount of circulation to the blood vessels of the eyes thereby improving eyesight.

However, inactive lifestyle habits lead to high obesity levels which can contribute to heart disease. This can in turn lead to a blockage of circulation from the heart to the blood vessels of the eyes that supply blood to the retina. As a result, this causes poor eyesight, eye diseases and in the case of high blood pressure, a condition called Retinopathy.

INACTIVITY ENCOURAGES EXCESSIVE EXPOSURE TO CLOSE UP WORK THAT WORSENS EYESIGHT:

Additionally, inactive lifestyle habits encourage indoor activities involving a lot of close up work and staring such as television viewing, work on digital devices such as tablets, e-readers, iPads, computers etc. The excessive use of these devices cause our eyes to be focused on one particular point for too long a period of time causing the focusing muscles of the eyes to become weakened due to a lack of eye exercise. The eyes function best when they are moving around regularly, however, continual near point stress encouraged by staring and excessive close up work leads to eye strain, stress and tension in the eye muscles that leads to worsening eyesight.

How can this problem be corrected? This can be corrected by increasing physical activity and exercise. The eyes will benefit from regular physical exercise. For example, scientific research studies illustrate this point:

PHYSICAL EXERCISE REDUCES RISKS FOR EYE DISEASES:

According to the Academy Of Ophthalmology, even moderate physical exercise such as going for a walk 3 times a week can lower the intra-ocular pressure in the eyes thereby reducing the risks for Glaucoma. In a scientific research study, researchers evaluated 3800 men and women to determine whether or not there was a link between an inactive lifestyle and the development of macular degeneration. The results of the study showed that people who exercised 3 times a week reduced their risk for macular Degeneration as opposed to those who did not.

EYE EXERCISES STRENGTHEN EYE MUSCLES THEREBY IMPROVING EYESIGHT: The eye is a muscle so certain eye exercise techniques can indeed improve vision by reducing stress and tension in the eyes and also increase the strength of the focusing muscles in the eyes for better vision.

How to Stop Cold Sores?

Cold sores can be extremely irritating, uncomfortable, and itchy and sometimes it feels impossible to resist scratching cold sores. Cold sores are annoying, small, painful blisters around the lips and nearby skin. Herpes simplex virus type I most commonly causes the cold sores on your mouth. These viruses attack the skin and nervous system of the body. Exposure to sunlight, sick, weather conditions, stress or cold can trigger cold sores.

Cold sores are common and usually trivial. Cold sores are caused by a viral infection. Cold Sores could cause blindness if it spreads to the eye. Physical contact, itching or rubbing cold sores will spread the herpes virus to the rest of your face or another person. You should avoid kissing, sharing items with others, such as eating utensils, cups or towels when you or they have an active cold sores.

Because the herpes virus remains dormant in the ganglia, the body is never able to completely stop cold sores. But you can learn cold sore treatment to relief the pain caused by your cold sores. Cold sore treatment is effective for skin irritations on the lips, gums, or roof of the mouth.

Once the cold sore has broken through the skin, healing can take up to 10 to 12 days. Outbreaks are most commonly brought on by large amounts of stress. An outbreak is very irritating, and can also lead to intense itching. If you are suffering from cold sores, you should learn to manage stress effectively by practicing relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga.

Vitamin C and zinc are especially effective in building up your immune system as well as being an antiviral and antifungal agent. Vitamin supplements such as zinc, vitamin C and vitamin E can help. Broccoli and cauliflower are two vegetables that can help. Using Lysine as a cold sore treatment has shown to be effective.

One should include applying heat while treating cold sores during the healing period. This will bring additional blood to the area for faster healing results.

Probiotics and Intestinal Problems – Natural Herbal Colon Cleanse and Probiotics Solve Many Ailments

My Last Doctor Visit

There comes a time when we must not only be aware of our bodies , but aware of what our bodies need. They tell you to be prepared when you go to the doctor to share and discuss all your issues so the doctor can best determine your problem and needs. Well, I strive to do this successfully, but continue to be amazed at how often the information falls on deaf ears.

I want to present a recent problem I had where my doctor gave me the statement, “Well there is no treatment for this, and you just have to wait for it to pass.” I thought, “Wait for it to pass! That’s easy for you to say. You do not have this problem. Has I was heading to the lab for some tests , I thought, why do I bother to come here and spend my time and money for this.”

Diagnosis Murder

She later diagnosed my health issue, after I left for the lab tests, and sent it to me by nurse carrier. It seemed I had something called “pityriasis rosea.” She also noted that there was no treatment and the ailment could last 1-2 months!

My first thought was, “No treatment?” If they could find the condition, why could they not determine a treatment? This was very dumb founding. How could she state there was no remedy before seeing my lab results- impossible.

Thank God for Google. I looked up pityriasis rosea and it just simply reiterated my doctor’s diagnosis, “There is not known solution and you just have to wait it out.”

Second Opinion

According to the American Association of Dermatology it is a rash that occurs most commonly in people between the ages of 10 and 35, but may occur at any age. The cause is unknown. Pityriasis rosea is not a sign of any internal disease, nor is it caused by a fungus, bacteria, or an allergy. Pityriasis rosea often requires no treatment and it usually goes away by itself. However, treatment may include external or internal medications for itching.

The rash can last from several weeks to several months. It may occur at any time of year, but pityriasis rosea is most common in the spring and fall, creams do not help because it is not a fungus. My doctor issued me a prescription for the itching and told me to use calamine lotion.

Again, I thought, “There is no treatment and how can this last several months.” The appearance was deplorable and the itching was unbearable. I could hardly stand this another day.

Third Opinion and Walla!

I continued to research and saw that this was associated with a similar problem known as rosacea. Very similar in appearance and, guess what? There were recommended treatments. Vitamin B, enzymes and PROBIOTICS! Most of all, probiotics. And, it seems there are some bad bacteria involved with the problem. My experience is that when there are bad bacteria, you simply employ probiotics as the solution.

Implementing Plan B

The recommended dosage was 4 billion active organisms twice daily. I started right away with 2-500 million size capsules and repeated every 4 hours 4 times daily. I increased it the next day to 4- 500 million organisms twice a day the next day. The first day there was little or no change. But, one the second day I started to notice the itching was not as bad and the areas that were causing me pain did not hurt as bad.

I thought about why I was having this problem, now. I had recently completed a natural herbal colon cleanse and used probiotics during the entire process. So, why was my body experiencing this type of issue just following an herbal colon cleanse? I had been feeling great just days before the skin problem erupted. Get it? Erupted.

Who Would Have thought It

I was not satisfied with my findings. I went back to Google and found an article that was a revelation. The article stated that the author, who was a reputable authority on the colon cleanse and probiotics, gets questions about the necessity to take probiotics during and after a cleanse. And his answer is simple: Yes, definitely – we must take a probiotic during and after cleansing.

WELL! I never was told or read before that you had to continue the probiotics after the colon cleanse. During a colon cleanse, friendly bacteria is removed, as well as toxins. The cleanse pushes all the junk out of our body, but it doesn’t discriminate between toxins and good bacteria. As a result, there is a bacterial imbalance in our GI tract, which can cause a host of other problems.

We MUST Replace The Good Bacteria

You see, there are billions and billions of different micro-organisms and bacteria that exist together in our gut. This vast system of bacteria works together and is crucial to the overall health of our body. It indirectly and directly affects almost every other organ in our body. If there is an imbalance, we feel sick, sluggish, and drowsy. We will not get all the nutrients we need, as our digestive system loses its effectiveness, so we suffer malnutrition. The waste is not leaving our system properly, thus we have skin problems.

To replace these friendly bacteria, most people who do a cleanse take a probiotic during cleansing. One usually takes the probiotic supplement 2-3 times a day, and a hour before or after the colon cleanser . Of course the specific procedure differs depending on the probiotic, so make sure you read the guidelines listed. It’s also recommended to continue taking probiotics after cleansing is over.

Probiotics should be taken during colon cleansing, as well as other cleansing or detoxification regimens such as liver, kidney, and especially candida. Everyone who does a cleansing regimen always takes probiotics to replace the friendly bacteria and maintain a healthy colon by populating the intestines with beneficial bacteria.

The Pot of Gold

That was my problem. I did not continue with the probiotics after the colon cleanse. To make a long story short, I continued the probiotics another week or so and the problem cleared. I spoke to my doctor about the findings and she dismissed it with no comment. She simply said the skin problem passed in 3-4 weeks as expected. I told her that the problem did not start to subside until I started the probiotics regimen.

Remember, the colon, intestines, gut or what have you, has a great impact on our health. We cannot overlook the importance of a healthy colon, but we now know that we must replace the good bacteria or other issues may arise. There is a great marriage between the colon cleanse and probiotics. The probiotics go on after the honeymoon is over to finish the job properly.

Hairless Penis – The Risks and Benefits of Manscaping

Over the last several years, more and more men have been jumping on the bandwagon when it comes to trimming the jungle below the belt. This phenomenon may have been inspired in part by the adult film industry, by social media, or by some other mysterious force, but whatever the cause, it is becoming increasingly common for men to take the trimmers to the hair around the penis. There are, in fact, many perks to having a hairless penis, but there are also some risks associated with the practice, so men who choose to go bare will need to add some extra steps to their penis care routine.

Benefits of manscaping

The reasons for preferring a shaved penis are as individual as the penis owners, but some of the most common benefits are as follows:

  1. The penis smells better. Hair traps all kinds of materials – droplets of sweat or urine, dead skin cells, bacteria, environmental debris, bits of semen, and so on. Left in place in their snug harbor of pubic hair, these substances can add up to a pretty rank smell, especially on a hot day, or in men who are prone to skipping a shower or two. Keeping the hairs trimmed short means there is less surface area for all of these molecules to hang on, thus reducing the unpleasant odor associated with the groin area.
  2. The penis is more accessible. While many women do enjoy the natural look, a poll of those who prefer bare to bushy would turn up more females who like to see a clean, well-groomed penis. Men who want to increase their chances of a little oral stimulation might keep this in mind.
  3. The penis looks bigger. A shaved penis next to a hairy penis of the same size is likely to look bigger than it’s hirsute cousin, because there is no thatch of fuzz to dwarf its majestic proportions.
  4. It’s easier on a partner’s delicate skin. A shaved penis is sleeker and less likely to get in the way, allowing the manhood to glide naturally, without interference.

Risks and after-effects

Removing the hair lends the penis a sleek, well-tended appearance, but it can also cause some discomfort that may discourage a man from deciding to trim the hedges. No matter how a man chooses to go about the hair removal process, the end result is likely to be skin that is tender, red and sore for a while afterward. For men who shave or wax, little red bumps may appear, which can be sore and uncomfortable, not to mention unattractive. Shaving the hair can also leave behind coarse stubble, which can be painful if it rubs against a partner’s skin. Because of this, many men opt for waxing or plucking in order to leave a smooth surface behind.

Post hair removal penis care

For men who choose to go bare, some post-removal skin care can help to decrease the discomfort and the raw, bumpy appearance that may occur as a result of the process. Cool compresses in the area can help to relieve the soreness, and applying an antibacterial cream to the area can help reduce the appearance of inflamed bumps – often the result of infected follicles.

One solution that is ideal for shaved skin is to apply a soothing penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) that is enriched with natural emollients such as Shea butter, as well as vitamin A for antibacterial care and vitamin C for rapid healing and tissue growth. A cream like this should not be applied to broken skin or open sores, but for minor abrasions and irritation, it can provide fast relief, as well as minimize the unpleasant after-effects of hair removal.

Argan Oil – Making Homemade Soap

Argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the Argania Spinosa tree, found in the southwest territory of Morocco. This thorny tree has a green fleshy type of fruit, similar to an olive, but larger and rounder in shape and size. Inside this fruit is an extremely hard shell containing one to three almond-shaped kernels. After goats eat the fruit, the nut remains and is collected by farmers to produce argan oil.

Production of argan oil is a lengthy process, since each nut has to be cracked open to remove the kernels. Popular Hypoallergenic Hunting Dogs – 3 Of The Most Popular Of The Lot

Originally used to hunt down small animals, such as rabbits, foxes, rats, and so on, hunting dogs have now become pets. With their intelligence, grace, and zest for life, these dogs could bring joy to any family. Those who have dog allergies can purchase a hypoallergenic hunting dog. The German Shorthaired Pointer, Basenji, and Afghan Hound are three varieties of popular hunting dogs.

German Shorthaired Pointer

The German Shorthaired Pointer was born when an English Pointer was crossed with a German Pointer. It is a great dog to have with you when you go hunting because it is highly responsive to sounds and movements. In addition, it is a wonderful friend to have when you are out of doors.

It is used for hunting even today, but at the same time, it makes a great pet for the entire family. Its short coat can easily be managed by regular brushing. In addition, it neither sheds as much hair as breeds with longer coats do nor does it produce much dander. A German Shorthaired Pointer, therefore, is very good choice for people who suffer from dog allergies.

These Pointers love physical activities and are long, lean, and friendly. It is not necessary to groom it often. You can bathe it only when it gets very dirty.

Afghan Hounds

With its coat of long hair, this breed does not resemble any other hypoallergenic breed. But its hair bears a strong resemblance to human hair in that it does not shed, but just grows. Therefore, people with allergies don’t suffer any allergy reactions when they are with an Afghan Hound.

In the past, this dog was used to hunt deer, foxes, and wolves. However, it is not used any more as a hunting dog today; it is more popular as a pet and show dog. With its lovely brown coat, the dog is a masterpeice of canine beauty.

Afghan Hounds are very pleasant, but do not enjoy obeying commands. It has a degree of independence unlike other hypoallergenic dogs. Many a times, this dog will simply ignore your commands, a tendency that could frustrate you. Therefore, the Afghan Hound is not the best dog for you if want a breed that you can easily manage and control.

Basenji

The Basenji originated in Africa and is among smaller breeds that are now not used for hunting any more. It has a coat of short hair that does not shed a lot, and this is why, many consider it to a very good hypoallergenic dog.

The most interesting feature of a Basenji is that it does not bark, among the few hypoallergenic breeds that does not do so. It is a good mimic, being able to imitate sounds in its immediate environment. Apart from an occasional yelp or two, this is a relatively quieter breed. This dog is great for you if you have made a home in an apartment.

Like the Afghan Hound, the Basenji too does not like to obey commands from owners. Although quiet, the dog is inquisitive and loves exploring things and places. It greatly resembles a cat in behavior and temperament. You will find that your Basenji, having a mind of its own, does not respond very well to training.

Vicks Vapor Rub For Nail Fungal Infections

Vicks Vapor Rub is a product that is commonly known to fight colds and to help an individual to breathe easier. While there are no medical studies or findings to support theories, some nail fungus sufferers have reported success in using Vicks Vapor Rub for nail fungus. This medication is available at any supermarket or most retail stores and is fairly inexpensive. There is no prescription required; however it is recommended that an individual speak with his/her doctor prior to using Vicks Vapor Rub for nail fungus.

Individuals who have used Vicks Vapor Rub for nail fungus have reported applying it directly to the affected toenail area. Because this product is rumored to discolor the nail area, it is not typically used on fingernails. As with most medicines, it is important to keep this product away from the eyes and is for external use only. This is another reason that it is not commonly applied to the hands because, throughout the day, we eat with our hands, rub our eyes, etc. It is not clear how using Vicks Vapor Rub for nail fungus actually aids in removing the fungus, but some have reported success.

After applying Vicks Vapor Rub on the toenail, it may be a good idea to wear socks to bed in order to keep the medicine from rubbing off on the sheets. It is also a good idea to wear cotton socks because of the fabric’s breathable nature and this will prevent the medication from rubbing off onto other surfaces during the day. It is important to note the frequently changing socks will help to prevent the toenail fungus from worsening.

While there have been individual reports of success with using Vicks Vapor Rub, it is not clear how accurate these findings are. Before applying any medication to the infected area, the sufferer must read all of the general use information and warning label, if any, on the product packaging.

If left untreated, nail fungus can be a very painful ailment and can also lead to more serious complications. The possibility of permanent nail damage and spreading the bacteria to other nails is always a concern with nail fungus. However, in some cases, a more serious infection may develop if nail fungus is not treated quickly and accurately. There are a number of rumored home remedies for nail fungus, with Vicks Vapor Rub being one of them.

Does Water Therapy Help Cure Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, is a common digestive disorder that actually affects the bowels which is characterized by troublesome and persistent chronic symptoms such as constipation and diarrhea, abdominal pain, gas and bloating, and even vomiting and nausea. These are mainly due to the sensitivity of the bowel resulting in spasms of the bowel muscle, causing discomfort to the sufferer, which can range from being mild to becoming very severe and intense.

Although the causes of IBS are still not clearly defined and identified yet, the symptoms of IBS sufferers are believed to have been caused by the sensitivity of their bowels, which means that it has something to do with the change in the normal muscle control in the bowel.

There are a number of possible causes that can help lead to IBS, all of which influences the bowel functions of an individual. Some of the known causes include the diet and eating habits of a person, which also reflects that person’s lifestyle, certain trigger foods that help stimulate the bowel and provoke its symptoms, and even certain stress related pressures such as anxiety and depression.

Water Therapy For IBS

There are a lot of different types of treatments for IBS, most of which aims to counteract the cause of the symptom, or the symptom itself. Although IBS symptoms prove to be troublesome at times, it is important to remember that these do not lead to serious complications later on.

However, treating these symptoms can still help alleviate you not only of your condition, but also from your anxiety, giving you a much better chance at coping. Different treatments include the change in eating habits and your diet, such as the avoidance of certain trigger foods, or the increase of foods that help your body fight IBS such as fiber, better stress management, even hypnotherapy. Another form of alternative treatment that people can do in treating IBS is through water therapy.

Water therapy can actually help treat IBS since water is known to help loosen bowels, making it easier for your stomach contents to pass through your bowels, thereby reducing the amount of pain and discomfort that you may feel. The water can actually help soften the stool, diminishing the effects of constipation. The water can also help add bulk to the stools aiding peristalsis, or the natural wave-like rippling movement of the colon as stools passes by the bowel, eliminating the chances of abdominal cramps and muscle spasms which are caused by irregular bowel movements.

Water can also help keep the digestive tract functioning properly by making sure that the gastrointestinal muscle tone stays at a normal level, by diluting toxic wastes in the GI tract, by binding irritants, by maintaining the correct balance of intestinal flora, and by bringing oxygen to the muscle tissues.

Also, keeping yourself hydrated also helps combat dehydration that you may be experiencing from the symptoms of your condition which, unknown to a lot of people, can actually be a huge exacerbating factor for your IBS symptom, like constipation. Keep in mind that this type of symptom causes your body to rapidly lose water, which can ultimately lead to dehydration, and can even complicate your IBS condition.

This type of treatment, however, should only be used as a supplement to other forms of treatment, and should not be considered as an alternative, especially since water therapy can only become truly effective in conjunction with other forms of treatment, such as the intake of a fiber-rich diet.

Exercise On An Elliptical Trainer To Improve Your Mood

Even the most optimistic people have gone through times when they did not view their life in a positive light. Some people struggle with a depressed mood on a regular basis, while most will become more anxious and depressed in response to a negative event, such as prolonged unemployment, a divorce, or the death of a loved one. The medical profession has a number of drugs they can prescribe, but all drugs have side effects and may not be that effective at treating the problem. Exercise is an option that can enhance mood that offers other positive effects for your overall health. An elliptical trainer has the features that make it an ideal fitness machine to improve your mood.

Research on anxiety, depression and exercise shows that the psychological and physical benefits of exercise can also help reduce anxiety and improve mood. And after you feel better, continuing to exercise may keep anxiety and depression from coming back.

Duke University conducted a randomized controlled trial in 1999 that concluded that depressed adults who participated in an aerobic exercise program improved as much as those treated with sertraline, the drug Pfizer marketed as Zoloft.

Phillip Holmes, a neuroscience professor at the University, has shown that several weeks of exercise can switch on certain genes that increase the brain’s level of galanin, a peptide neurotransmitter that appears to tone down the body’s stress response by regulating another brain chemical, norepinephrine. This causes the brain to show less stress in response to new stimuli.

Exercise releases endorphins, which are feel-good chemicals that aid with the symptoms of depression. There are more of these chemicals released as you increase the intensity of the workout, which is why it may take less time exercising to improve your mood when you do more vigorous activities. An elliptical trainer can give you the type of vigorous workout you need to be most effective at combating anxiety and depression. As your fitness improves, you can really amp up the intensity of an elliptical workout by increasing resistance, incline, or strides per minute. The elliptical workout is also effective at changing your body composition, increasing lean body mass and reducing fat, and that can have a positive effect on self esteem.

Exercise can be effective way to enhance mood and combat anxiety and depression. A new or used elliptical trainer is a great way to get the exercise you need to look and feel you best.
