Asthma and allergies are not produced by a single irritant, but by an accumulation of minor irritants that often overwhelm the bodys ability to adapt. It is not a huge leap to imagine that removing a respiratory irritant from the sleeping environment, where a person spends one third of their time, is going to produce an improvement in a childs ability to breathe. Allergy and asthma are conditions that go hand in hand. Over 50 percent of asthmatics have their triggers in allergic reactions to their environment and diet. Asthma related allergies are common problems in children. One out of ten children in Hong Kong have asthma, and up to 40% of children have an allergy.

These asthma and allergy conditions are mostly discussed among those crippling diseases. Few drugs and vaccines can treat asthma to some extent by alleviating the troublesome symptoms, other than those allergies are on the rise. Studies have shown that food allergies in children have doubled in the last 5 years! Asthma and allergies are often connected to this problem. Most asthma patients are allergic to one or more allergens such as pollens, molds, pet dander, house dust mites and cockroaches.

Asthma and allergies are among the most annoying and even disabling common health problems. About 36 million Americans suffer from some kind of allergy, and about 17 million people have asthma. It is a condition of epidemic proportion in our children's lives and getting worse, due to the toxins floating in our environment. The prescribed medications given for those problems speed up their hearts and suppress the immune system making it impossible to get better, when they should normalize their immune system instead. Asthma and allergies are frequently under valued by both physicians and patients during pregnancy. This may be due to the fear of adverse effects medication may have on the fetus.

Exposure to cockroach allergen, a protein found in their feces, is linked to wheezing and asthma. Research has found that a child may be most vulnerable to cockroach allergen in the first three months of life. Exposures in utero occurring during the critical periods for organogenesis have the potential to produce long-lasting effects. Postnatal organ function can be significantly affected by in utero exposures.

Symptoms of asthma may first appear long after beginning work with animals. Laboratory animal allergy usually develops within 36 months of starting exposure, and most cases develop after 6 to 36 months of exposure. Symptoms of asthma include wheezing, shortness of breath, a feeling of tightness in the chest, and coughing. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 8.7 percent of all children (6.3 million) had asthma in 2001. Symptoms may get worse and include wheezing, shortness of breath (SOB) and increased respiratory rate, which may look like asthma symptoms, but is not asthma.

Is Too Much Herbal Tea Bad for You?

Herbal tea has become sort of a culture in many countries. Compared to coffee, tea can actually be consumed in relatively large amounts without any risk. People who love it can average anywhere from 3 to 8 cups daily. However, there are associated adverse effects that come with tea overdose. You need to watch out for these as well.

Green Tea

Some people show hypersensitivity reactions with green tea. Others develop the condition after long-term use characterized by hives, swelling of ears, lips, tongue and face, difficulty breathing, closing of the throat and skin irritation. Another grave side effect that can be caused by heavy and long-term consumption of green tea is esophageal cancer. There are agents that remain and accumulate in the esophageal area leading to the development of cysts and tumors.

Too much green tea can cause a variety of side effects such as anxiety, insomnia, nervousness, irritability, mood swings, interrupted sleep, cardiac arrhythmia, headache, heartburn, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea and constipation. It can also interact with other substances thereby causing problems. Do not drink tea if you’re taking blood thinners like warfarin or Coumadin or it might cause hemorrhage or internal bleeding.

Black Tea

Black tea contains caffeine and should be taken moderately in order to avoid kidney, blood sugar and gastrointestinal problems. High amounts of it can lead to cardiac arrhythmia, insomnia, interrupted sleep, hypertension, hyponatremia, low potassium levels, urinary incontinence, liver disease, skin rash, internal bleeding or hemorrhage, kidney failure, anxiety, irritability, psychosis, delirium, seizure, muscle and joint spasm and rhabdomyolysis. A cup of black tea on the average contains about 200 to 300 milligrams of caffeine. 1000 milligrams of caffeine reportedly can be fatal.

Addiction is also expected among individuals taking it in large doses. Chronic intake can cause substance tolerance and psychological dependence. Upon discontinuation, withdrawals symptoms will also occur characterized by nausea, vomiting, headache, mood swings, tremor, dizziness, anxiety, nervousness and irritability. People suffering from psychological disorders should not take black tea as it can aggravate symptoms of mania, depression and confusion.

Other Herbal Tea Effects

Herbal teas in general have been suggested to be contributory to the development of cancer. There seem to be carcinogenic effects that come with chronic use. Teas high in tannin may lead to iron deficiency and microcytic anemia. Other associated effects are liver and kidney failure and bronchial and respiratory problems.

Individuals with underlying conditions like thyroid problems, pregnancy, cardiovascular and heart conditions and kidney disease and those who are taking medications should consult their doctors first before taking any type of herbal tea. Faith, however, is not an excuse. Free choice is a given gift to humanity, and it should always take priority. You can not blame the Universe for not 'rewarding you' with a job when you did not put in the effort to apply for one. The Universe simply will not send an angel to knock on your door and invite you to flip burgers in Heaven and offer you a small fortune in return. This is where some people get it wrong. This principle applies to everything and anything in life. Another good example would be disease and medical care. Think about it, would the holier-than-thou Universe be that stupid that it would not provide for humans with the brilliance of Science? So go on, say a little prayer, but do not forget to take your medines.

You have choices in life and you always have to put the work in. It is the output of this work that, many times, is beyond your control, whether it is positive or the worst ever ever, the Universe is in charge and it will take care of it. This is not a fundamentalist belief that all out in life come from the Universe. It is about having a bit more faith in your fate and making the most out of it. It's about opening your mind to the unknown and experience what faith can do for your life. Ultimately, you either believe or you do not. Either way, focus focused actions are at the core of every one's life. You have the choice to worry and stress out about it, or you can simply let things happen and, providing you have done your job and done it well, simply focus on what you are able to control, and relax.

'But I'm an Atheist', some of you will say. This is not about believing in God, this is about faith. Faith is a different concept (although many times used interchangeably with the word 'belief' – which is a different thing). Faith is not about believing in a specific thing (Ie God). Instead it is about acknowledging the unknown and hope that somehow things will turn your way, or not. It's about embracing the great mystery that is life and accept you are not in control of everything that happens to you. And this is why believers are one step ahead in this game so, Atheist or not, have a little more faith in your fate and chill out.

Riddles have existed and been popular for thousands of years. They predate the writing of the bible and the Greek empire. Both the bible and Greek literature contain them and the writers seem to be somewhat familiar with them. This means that riddles and the concept of riddles are at least 1000 years old. One riddle has its roots in a math problem from 1650 BC, but the riddle itself was written much later. The original problem was meant purely as a math problem, not a riddle. To people of these time periods riddles were essentially metaphors or just questions / statements with hidden meaning. Aristotle described them as being useful in philosophy because they can explain concepts indirectly that could not otherwise be explained.

The next great age for riddles was the Anglo-Saxon time period (5th to 12th century). During this time riddles almost degraded in meaning. Does Vinegar Cause Yeast Infections Or Cure Them?

As medical researcher and former yeast infection sufferer I am often asked about the connection between vinegar and yeast infections. Most experts agree that eating certain foods encourage the growth of yeast and increase the chance of an infection. But what about vinegar? Vinegar has been proven to improve the health of many people. So, does vinegar cause yeast infections or cure them?

Yeast infections are caused by the overgrowth of a fungus called Candida. Candida lives in small amounts inside everyone’s body. In small amounts it is beneficial to the body and certainly not dangerous. Candida becomes a threat to the body when it grows out of control in the digestive system and then enters the bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream it circulates throughout the body attacking wherever it finds an opportunity.

Certain foods can create an environment within the body that encourages the yeast to grow. White sugar, refined white rice and flour, and some highly processed foods encourage Candida growth and damage the body’s ability to fight off the infection.

The pH level of the body also affects the growth of Candida yeast. The pH level, which stands for “potential hydrogen” is a measurement of the amount of acid in the body. The scales runs from 0 (high acid) to 14 (low acid). The pH level of human blood should be between 7.35 and 7.45. Pure water has a pH of 7 which is considered to be neutral. Even a small change in the pH level can have a significant effect on our health.

The higher the acid level the easier it is for yeast to grow. Anyone who suffers from yeast infections should everything possible to maintain their body’s pH level at the lowest healthy point possible.

Several factors that contribute to high pH levels are:

1. High stress level

2. Lack of exercise

3. Excess fat in diet

4. Excess consumption of dairy products

5. Not enough fresh vegetables and fruits in diet

White vinegar is extremely acidic with a typical pH level between 2.4 and 3.4. This extremely high acid level makes an idea environment for Candida yeast to grow out of control. White vinegar should be eliminated from the diet of anyone who has a yeast infection or is prone to getting them. Most other types of vinegar including balsamic, red wine, and rice vinegar are also highly acidic.

The only exception to the rule is apple cider vinegar which has a pH of 7.5. Often sold at health food stores, organic apple cider vinegar that is unfiltered and unpasteurized can actually lower the acid level of the body. Many researchers believe that a teaspoon or two each day will help to prevent yeast infections as well as improving overall health.

The answer to the question, “does vinegar cause yeast infections?” is yes and no. White, balsamic, red wine, and rice vinegar will definitely cause yeast infections. Natural organic apple cider vinegar will not. This is an example of how important it is to only trust a knowledgeable and respected source such as for your natural health information.

A Sprained Ankle And Ice – What You Need To Know

In the initial period after a sprain, icing does help contain the swelling. Especially if you have a more severe injury. If you are pretty much immobile, then icing is a good idea for the first 36 hours. The problem is that this is all most people do. This is just the very beginning step toward rehabilitating the ankle. But, in the first 36 hours, ice will help contain the swelling and can be used as a treatment. How long should you keep the ice on your ankle? And what is the best way to do it?

As a general rule, you should ice your ankle about 15 minutes and then take the ice off for 20 minutes, then ice it again and so on. By far the most effective way to ice your ankle is by placing it in a sink or bucket of cold ice water. Yeah, it's very cold, but much better than just placing a bag of ice over your ankle. You will definitely feel the difference!

Okay, so now you know how to ice your ankle, but that brings us to another problem. After 36 hours, you will not get enough results to make it worth it to keep doing it. I can pretty much guarantee your ankle will still be very swollen, stiff, bruised and immobile after 36 hours. What then?

So, you have reduced the swapping a little bit with the ice, but now you still have a swollen sprained ankle that you can barely move, let alone walk on … right? Unfortunately, most people think they are stuck just resting and elevating it until it heals. This can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks. That's a very long time for such an injury. To make matters worse, once you can walk normally again, your ankle will still be very weak. In other words, the initial injury creates scar tissue which makes the ankle joint inflexibile and weak. What does this mean? Well, you will be at far greater risk for injuring your ankle again. But, that's not the only problem …

If your ankle is weak and inflexible which naturally occurs after an injury, you put yourself at risk for knee, hip, and low back pain. Why? It starts getting pretty technical, but just imagine that your ankle can not move as well as it did before the injury. This affects how you walk, run and stand. These seemingly small changes (you may not even notice the difference), have a large effect on the kinetic chain that runs up your body. I have seen people who have bad shoulder or neck pain, because their ankles were so weak and immobile. it affected their posture and created muscle imbalances that run all the way up their body.

So, what can you do to properly rehab your sprained ankle?

The good news is that you are not condemned to having a weak and immobile ankle forever. There are exercises and stretches that specifically strengthen the ankle joint and heal the neuromuscular damage that occurs after an ankle sprain. Further, by rehabilitating the ankle properly, you will be at much lower risk for future ankle injuries and help keep your body free of pain. I have developed a system for rehabilitating the ankle called HEM It targets every part iof the rehabilitation process and has been incredibly effective with my clients.

The best part about my program is that it dramatically reduces the healing time. Instead of taking 2-8 weeks to heal, my clients are walking normally again in 3-5 days. No, I am not exaggertating. It is important to make an early diagnosis of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and to initiate treatment at the earliest, in order to prevent local complications and the spread of the tumor to other parts of the body. IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is a gastrointestinal motility disorder of the intestines. IBS is defined as a widespread condition involving recurrent abdominal pain and diarrhea or constipation, often associated with stress, depression, anxiety, or previous intestinal infection. Common symptoms of IBS include: recurrent abdominal pain, change in bowel habits (constipation or diarrhea, or both), indigestion, bloating, weight gain / loss, nausea, chronic foul smelling gas, urgency of needing to empty the bowels, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, anxiety and depression.

Approximately 11% of the population are diagnosed with this condition by their primary care physicians, many suffer silently and go undiagnosed. There are self-help and support groups, popular searches relating to IBS, and general gut cleanses offered all over the web. We see patients frequently trying to control this condition on their own using different diets, oregano oil and probiotics, to no avail. Many people come to the conclusion that this is just their "new normal." To the contrary, just because these symptoms are common in the general population, they are not normal!

IBS is a tricky condition to diagnose as there is no "gold standard" test. IBS is often a diagnosis of exclusion; meaning, you can rule out all the scary things like cancer, Crohn's disease or internal bleeding, then what you are left with is a bladder diagnosis for a long list of digestive and systemic symptoms.

What Causes & Contributes To IBS?

  • Microbiome imbalances: We're talking gut flora.
  • Dysbiosis
  • SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth)
  • Adrenal health / chronic stress. When the nervous system is in a dominantly sympathetic state it shuts down the rest and digest mechanisms. This leads to poor digestion and malabsorption, which in turn causes anxiety and moodiness from blood sugar swings.
  • Blood sugar dysregulation will often cause oxidative damage to nerves in the gut and bowels further damaging digestive function and creating inflammation.
  • Increased and reduced gut motility depending on the portion of the gastrointestinal system.
  • Chronic infections / with biofilm. Often, this will happen after a bout of gastroenteritis. In fact acute gastroenteritis accounts for 30% of all IBS cases.
  • Food sensitivities.
  • Stress: Both emotional and physical – History of abuse (physical, emotional, chronic, anxiety). We often see that the less support people have in their lives, the more different their IBS can be.
  • Visceral sensitivity aka rectal pain sensitivity – Perceived pain in the rectum – this pain is lower for patients in IBS. IBS patients notice more gas and discomfort in the bowels. IBS patients show changes in the brains esp in afferent pain signs in the brain.
  • Let's look at some of these in greater detail:

    • The Microbiome


    Why is the microbiome, or the bacteria in your gut so important? Did you know that some of your neurotransmitters are made in your gut? That's right, the bacteria in your gut can determine how well you break down and utilize your food, and even how happy you feel. Did you know that the enterocytes in the intestines are one of the main producers of serotonin (your happy neurotransmitter)? Having imbalanced bacteria can lead to symptoms of depression and anxiety. Furthermore, neurotransmitters in your gut regulate your perception of pain and digestive function.

    Bacterial Overgrowth

    You can read in more detail about small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) here . SIBO in essence is having too much bacteria in your gut. With SIBO healthy foods, especially slow digesting carbohydrates actually feed the overgrowth of bacteria. This perpetuates symptoms like gas and bloating – especially as the day goes on and seemingly no matter what you eat.

    The Immune System

    The immune system is very important in the pathogenesis of IBS. Your immune cells, primarily Mast Cells, are important in the motility of your gastrointestinal tract. When these cells are activated, they cause inflammation in the gut wall affecting peristalsis (contractions of the gut wall moving food through the gastrointestinal system).

    Low Grade Infection & Inflammation

    Ever had a parasite? Montezuma's Revenge? Mononucleosis (Also known as Epstein Barr Virus)? Chances are you still have it! We like to refer to these as subclinical chronic infections. The reason for that is you might not be experiencing swollen lymph nodes and fever, but maybe you are chronically fatigued, or your digestion has not been quite right since the initial infection. This can be an indication that although you do not have an acute infection, you might have a low grade and chronic infection. These infections can create biofilms that make them essentially untouchable by your immune system. Without breaking these biofilms down, these pathogens continue to wreak havoc on your immune system and gut. Biofilms can be attributed to lingering symptoms like chronic gas and bloating, diarrhea and constipation, chronic fatigue, and poor immune function.

    Food Sensitivities

    Food sensitivities are not an allergy. Although they do not create a life-threatening, immediate response like a true food allergy, they stimulate and up-regulate your immune system, creating symptoms like bloating, gas, diarrhea, acne, fatigue, blood sugar swings … the list goes on. The only way to control these symptoms is to eliminate or minimize the foods creating these symptoms to allow your body to heal and regulate. The tricky part can be figuring out which food (s) are the triggers. Simply eliminating one suspect food might help dampen your symptoms, but if there are multiple foods triggering you, your symptoms will not completely go away; leading many to the conclusion that that was not their food sensitivity and continue eating it. For this reason elimination diets like the Whole30 have been designed to cut out the most common food sensitivities to "reboot" your system in a sense, and then slowly reintroduce said eliminated foods.

    The most common food sensitivities for the majority of the population are gluten (sometimes all grains), eggs, dairy, soy, corn, and seafood. However, because everyone is so individual, even a healthy food like bananas or sweet potatoes might be creating your symptoms. If you find an elimination diet is not doing the trick, it could be because you are still eating something you are sensitive to. Always start with the foods you are eating most frequently. This might be the culprit. Diet diaries are also a great way to track your eating habits. In our office we highly recommend food sensitivity testing – these tests help cut out the guesswork and also identify foods that might be cross-reactiving in your system.

    Leaky Gut

    If you are not familiar with leaky gut, it is when the wall of your intestine becomes compromised and permeable, allowing for particles of food to get into your bloodstream, thus activating the immune system to respond to the alien "invader." Over time you can become sensitive to more and more foods. Making you reactive to foods that you were once not sensitive to. As you restore your gut wall, many of these new sensitivities will resolve.


    Stress is all to common amongst our society. From traffic jams to long office hours while raising a family. It can be hard to find time for yourself, period. Forget simple self care like meditation, exercise, breathing, you're lucky to get a shower in 4 days a week. Sound familiar? Stress has a huge impact on your physiological processes. It slows and makes your digestion less effective (perpetuating IBS), causing inflammation and blood sugar swings and lets not forget anxiety, insomnia, depression and pain. Practicing techniques to help your body adapt and calm down from stress are incredibly important. Taking breaks from drinking stimulants like coffee and substituting adaptogenic herbs like Ashwagandha, Reishi mushroom, and Maca can be incredibly beneficial.

    How We Treat Differently from the Traditional Model

    Much of what is commonly done for IBS in the Traditional Medical model is symptomatic relief. More and more this is changing, which we love to see! However, where antibiotics, laxatives, anti-diarrheal (or antispasmodic medications) and long-term elimination diets fail, we do our best to pick up the slack.

  • IBS can be a tricky condition to tackle on your own, as there are typically several variables contributing to your symptoms. If you do not figure out all of the variables, you will have a difficult time eliminating your symptoms for good. With all of these factors adding to IBS, having a little guidance can be incredibly beneficial.

    Ten Cognitive Distortions and Asperger Syndrome

    Back in 1980, American psychotherapist David Burns published a book which has remained a therapy standard since. Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy was an instant bestseller. The book details the relationship between thoughts and mood, and offers research-based exercises for taking control of “automatic thoughts”, and as a result, mood.

    Burns identified ten common cognitive distortions, exaggerated and irrational thoughts, which can negatively affect mood. They are extremely common, and identifying them in yourself can serve as the first step in changing them.

    Look over the following list and see if any of these distortions are habits of yours.

    1. ALL-OR-NOTHING THINKING: You see things in black and white categories. If your performance falls short of perfect, you see yourself as a total failure.

    2. OVERGENERALIZATION: You see a single negative event as a never-ending pattern of defeat.

    3. MENTAL FILTER: You pick out a single negative detail and dwell on it exclusively so that your vision of all reality becomes darkened, like the drop of ink that discolors the entire beaker of water.

    4. DISQUALIFYING THE POSITIVE: You reject positive experiences by insisting they “don’t count” for some reason or other. In this way you can maintain a negative belief that is contradicted by your everyday experiences.

    5. JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS: You make a negative interpretation even though there are no definite facts that convincingly support your conclusions.

    a. Mind Reading. You arbitrarily conclude that someone is reacting negatively to you, and you don’t bother to check this out.

    b. The Fortune Teller Error. You anticipate that things will turn out badly, and you feel convinced that your prediction is an already established fact.

    6. MAGNIFICATION (CATASTROPHIZING) OR MINIMIZATION: You exaggerate the importance of things (such as your goof-up or someone else’s achievement). Or you inappropriately shrink things until they appear tiny (your own desirable qualities or the other fellow’s imperfections). This is also called the “binocular trick.”

    7. EMOTIONAL REASONING: You assume that your negative emotions necessarily reflect the way things really are: “I feel it, therefore it must be true.”

    8. SHOULD STATEMENTS: You try to motivate yourself with shoulds and shouldn’ts, as if you had to be whipped and punished before you could be expected to do anything. “Musts” and “oughts” are also offenders. The emotional consequence is guilt. When you direct should statements toward others, you feel anger, frustration, and resentment.

    9. LABELING AND MISLABELING: This is an extreme form of over-generalization. Instead of describing your error, you attach a negative label to yourself: “I’m a loser.” When someone else’s behavior rubs you the wrong way, you attach a negative label to him: “He’s a damn louse.” Mislabeling involves describing an event with language that is highly colored and emotionally loaded.

    10. PERSONALIZATION: You see yourself as the cause of some negative event which in fact you were not primarily responsible for.

    Cognitive distortions are characteristic of depression and anxiety. Adults with Asperger’s are especially vulnerable to adopting distorted patterns of thinking. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a modality of psychotherapy which aims to challenge and change distortions, is the most researched and common form of therapy used to help people with Asperger’s change the way they think about themselves. Often adults on the spectrum, when confronted with the illogical nature of some of these automatic thoughts, are eager to change them to adopt a more reality-based perspective.

    If you find yourself engaging in distorted thinking, you can begin to replace the illogical thoughts with more accurate (and often forgiving!) thoughts right away. Remember, cognitive distortions which leave you holding the short end of the stick can feel like a form of perfectionism. But they can often hold you back from enjoying life, feeling confident and reaching potential.

    Herbal and Natural Remedies For Colon Problems

    Finding natural solutions to maintaining colon health is obviously a great approach. Introducing chemical-based prescription medications into the body can have adverse effects. Many people believe that the benefits of taking laxatives or over the counter enemas far outweighs any harm they may experience as a result of the chemicals that compromise these solutions. A much better and healthier approach is to seek out a natural solution. Some effective herbal remedies for colon health include:

    Garlic. This has become something of a wonder herbal remedy in recent years as more and more people are recognizing the positive benefits of adding garlic to their diet.     Ginger. Another spice that is an integral part of many dishes, this substance has proven to be effective in continued health in the colon. Adding ginger to the diet as a spice can help prevent the development of cancer cells within the colon. Although it can be taken as a supplement in capsule form, it's much better tasting and easier to absorb when added as an ingredient during cooking.

    One natural remedy for continued colon health is Vitamin D. In its most natural form, Vitamin D is derived from direct sunlight. Many people believe this is the best way for the body to absorb it. If this is the approach that the individual takes, they should be aware of the damaging effects of the sun on skin cells and therefore using a sunscreen is recommended. Vitamin D can also be taken in the form of a daily supplement. It is also found in many foods and is often added to orange juice as well.

    Calcium should also be taken in a supplement form in an effort to improve colon health in general. Many people find it difficult to drink milk products because of intolerance to lactose. If the person has irritable bowel syndrome it becomes even more difficult to comfortably eat or drink dairy products. In addition to being a natural remedy for colon problems, calcium is also essential for strong bones, which helps to prevent osteoporosis later in life.

    Removal of Cysts on Ovaries – What You Should Do

    Ovarian cysts are pretty much a normal part every woman's life, and you should not go running off in a panic to your gynecologist should you find one on your ovaries. Just relax a little! You should know that removal of cysts on ovaries may be both time-consuming and expensive, depending on the type of treatment that you're going to get.

    Here are several treatment options used in the removal of cysts on ovaries. Know that your course of action is entirely dependent on your type of cysts.

    • Observe and Compare. Of all the treatments available for the removal of cysts on ovaries, this is the most simple and inexpensive. All you have to do is simply observe which symptoms are manifesting on your body, if any. If you have functional ovarian cysts, these are usually benign and require no treatment. However, you should still monitor their growth to make sure that they're growing larger every month. If your ovary is healthy, then the removal of cysts on ovaries can be done without touching the ovary. However, if your doctor recommends that you need to have your ovary removed for the sake of your health, then you can be consoled by the fact that, at least, you'll have another one! This process is called a cystectomy, and like all surgical processes, it has its risks! So best be a hundred per cent sure before getting any surgery done on you!

    Thrush Mouth, Oral Yeast Infection and Oral Candida

    Thrush mouth, oral thrush, oral yeast infection and oral candida are all names for the same medical condition which is a yeast infection in the mucous membranes of the mouth and candida albicans growing out of control is the most common cause of these fungal infections.

    We all carry around yeast organizations. The problems start when the body's chemistry becomes imbalanced. The people most often at risk for this type of infection are:

    • diabetics and others with metabolic disturbances.
    • People with AIDS / HIV.
    • newborns.
    • people that are mal-nourished.
    • people that have had oral sex with a partner suffering from thrush.
    • women who hormones are disturbed because of pregnancy or birth control pills.
    • women undergoing fertility treatments.
    • asthma and COPD sufferers that use inhalers with steroids
    • children that fit any of the above.
    • people that consume large quantities of milk.

    Diabetics, mal-nourished people, women on birth control pills, women that are pregnant, women undergoing fertility treatments and people with AIDS / HIV all have either an immune system problem or a hormonal imbalance that can make them susceptible to thrush mouth.

    Newborns are constantly going through hormonal and physiological changes so they are at risk for thrush mouth and just about everything else you can think of.

    Asthma and COPD sufferers can reduce the risk of getting thrush mouth by rinsing their mouths out with water after taking their medication. Reducing the amount of sugar and yeast in the diet can help all sufferers. Altering your diet, eating yogurt and taking oral medications are other treatment options.

    Your body can not process large quantities of milk fast enough to keep you from knocking your body's natural flora out of balance. Moderation in everything is good but excess in anything is usually unhealthy.
