9 Simple Tips For Using Your Breast Enlargement Pump

Breast enlargement pumps have been around for quite some time. You would be surprised to learn that an earlier prototype was a foot operated breast enlargement pump. It was very popular with around 4 million women in the United States in the 1970s. They cost $9.95 and worked by pumping the attached pedal to create suction on the breasts. Unfortunately, they were not very successful and caused a lot of bruising.

Today you can purchase breast enhancement pumps for less than $50. They are simple, manual devices that consist of plastic domes that you place over the breasts, with a hand pump attached through tubing to create suction. Air is sucked out of the domes and this causes the breasts to be pulled outwards.

The Process of Growing Bigger Breasts with a Pump

The effect of suction on the breasts encourages blood circulation and the flow of fats and nutrients into the vacuum created when you stretch the cells. Breast enlargement pumps work on the principle of tension-induced tissue growth. Physicians in many forms of reconstructive surgery have used the principle of tissue expansion for over 30 years. Much like exercising the muscles, the process encourages a steady growth of breast tissue resulting in gradual breast size increase.

All breast enlargement pumps come with a choice of different cup sizes, depending on your breast size. You will gradually work your way through the cup sizes until you reach your desired size. The amount of time that you use the breast enlargement pump varies anywhere from 15 minute sessions, several times per day, to wearing them all night long. The choice of pump is up to the individual.

9 Simple Tips when Using a Breast Enlargement Pump

  • The obvious one is to choose a pump that is designed for growing bigger breasts, not one for extracting breast milk. There is a difference.
  • Decide whether you want to be able to move around while you are wearing the domes. If you purchase a breast enhancement pump that is powered by a machine, you will be limited to using it while reading or watching TV.
  • You can use a support bra to hold the domes in place.
  • Go gently at first until you get the hang of the amount of suction you create. When the suction is quite strong it may cause discolouration of the breasts.
  • Use a good moisturizer all over the breasts to hold the domes in place
  • It goes without saying that you carefully follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for usage if you want success with growing bigger breasts
  • Use for short periods a number of times during the day rather than for a long period in one sitting. The breaks in between helps to avoid bruising from too much suction to the breasts
  • Take breaks in between as suggested, such as 8 weeks on and a month off
  • Not suitable for pregnant women or women who have had breast cancer

There is enough solid evidence to show that breast enlargement pumps work very effectively. The FDA has even approved one of these systems, the Brava Breast pump. They are a non-invasive method of breast enlargement that has become very popular with women who choose not to have surgery. There are many different types of pumps and the most expensive device is not necessarily the best. Find the pump that best suits your budget and lifestyle.

The Use of Ambien and Xanax

An Overview On Ambien

Known in its generic name zolpidem, Ambien is used for those patients suffering from sleep problems, particularly insomnia. Ambien is generally safe for use, but those with history of drug abuse, or problems such as depression, lung or liver problems, and those pregnant and nursing women should be closely supervised in the whole duration of treatment.

Ambien is known to be associated with side effects such as suicidal tendencies, short-term amnesia during sleep, allergic reaction and anxiety. These side effects will become more likely experienced by patients combining Ambien with other medications, such as Xanax and other sleep aid medications, or those medications with opposite effect. Those who are experiencing withdrawal symptoms with Ambien experiences these: crying, insomnia, nausea and vomiting and panic attacks.

An Overview On Xanax

Xanax or alprazolam, is for those adult patients dealing with panic disorders and anxiety. This is not suitable for use among women who are pregnant (or might be pregnant) or breastfeeding. Using such medication increases the likelihood to damage unborn babies. Side effects like suicidal tendencies, mania, as well as depression is not uncommon. Getting hooked with this medication is high, and patients most likely experience withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, weight loss and increased sensory perception.

Xanax has the ability to depress the CNS (central nervous system), thus taking this medication should be done with utmost care, especially when combined with other similar medications for psychotic problems.

But according to Drugs.com, It is possible to combine Xanax and Ambien in a single treatment, but there is a likelihood to increase its side effects when taken without supervision of the attending or prescribing physician. During treatment of both medications, it is important to immediately report any side effects, especially those that involve the CNS or respiration.

Take This As An Example

Last February 2008, a renowned actor Heath Ledger died due to a lethal combination of sleep inducing and anti-anxiety medications. Although non of the drugs was taken in excess, the combination of the drugs slowed down his CNS big time, causing his hear to stop beating and lungs prevented from gasping more air. Heath Ledger was not able to wake up due to this incident, and was announced dead right after.

Alternatives If Xanax and Ambien combination becomes too strong for the patient to take, he maybe suggested these alternative therapies: acupuncture, L-theanine, magnesium, mind-body therapy and valerian. However, these alternative options also have a set of side effects- only milder than synthetic medications like Xanax and Ambien generic. Thus, it is still advised to consult their doctors first.

ADHD Causes – Immune System

In today’s highly industrialized environment, our bodies are constantly under attack by pollutants and harmful substances. Even the air we breathe and the food we eat contains all sorts of toxins, pathogens, and disease-carrying microbes. Without a well-functioning immune system, we wouldn’t live very long.

The immune system is the human body’s main defense system against pathogens and other harmful organisms. It provides two stages of protection: specific defenses and non-specific defenses. Our skin and mucous membranes make up the non-specific defenses, the immune system’s first line of defense that protects our muscles and organs from the outside world. If the non-specific defenses are invaded by an outside threat (e.g., a virus), the specific defenses kick in and detect the microorganisms, which are destroyed before they wreak havoc on our cells.

Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder are often found to have one of two kinds of problems with their immune system: either it is weakened or it is over-active. There are many things that can weaken their immune defense, and many of them have to do with poor nutrition. Children with ADHD tend to have unhealthy eating habits – too much processed food, sugar, and refined carbohydrates, and not enough fruits, green leafy vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids. When the immune system is weakened, brain functions don’t work up to par, and other bodily systems are inflamed. The presence of too many processed foods and saturated fats also weakens the production of a hormone called leptin. Leptin is integral for producing white blood cells, an important component of immune system functions. Finally, a weak immune system can also be caused by constant exposure to toxins like mercury and lead, as well as the continued presence of chronic viral infections.

It is possible for an immune system to get over-activated when it is plagued by constant exposure to antigens or allergens. When improperly digested proteins or food allergens infiltrate the bloodstream, they trigger an immune response that wouldn’t otherwise occur. An over-active immune system also occurs during gut dysbiosis, or an imbalance between healthy gut flora and harmful bacteria. The body’s defenses thus remains constantly on its guard to fight the overgrowth of harmful bacteria. Dysbiosis prevents the gastrointestinal tract from performing its critical functions of nutrient absorption and toxin filtration. Instead, the gut absorbs the toxins and keeps nutrients out, causing deficiencies that trigger chronic hyperactivity and inattention.

The interrelated functioning of the immune system, gastrointestinal system, and neurological system sheds light on the importance of maintaining health by eating the right foods and avoiding processed, sugary foods with artificial additives. This perspective also demonstrates that ADHD is not merely caused by biological factors. Rather, ADHD is the result of many complex environmental triggers interacting with the genetic predisposition to the disorder. This is why the right treatment plan should be designed around eliminating the triggers of the disorder naturally, instead of merely suppressing the symptoms with medication. Only in this manner can a child overcome ADHD for life, without suffering from long-term side effects.

Is Juniper an Effective Way to Treat Gout Naturally?

An increasing number of people today are choosing to treat gout using natural and herbal remedies as opposed to relying fully on medication to ease the pain and discomfort that it can cause. Among the natural treatments currently gaining a great deal of attention is Juniper.

Juniper berries from the evergreen plant Juniperis communis are also known as gin berries. They are relatively small, bluish-purple berries that vaguely resemble blueberries. They are about ¼ inch in diameter, and have a surprising, spicy flavor with subtle pine undertones.

There are many benefits to taking juniper berries, including their use to help ease gout. The juniper berry encourages the flow of urine and detoxification of the bladder, kidneys, and prostate. It is also becoming celebrated as an effective preventative and treatment for urinary infections. Of course, juniper berries are probably most commonly known for the flavor they provide when making gin.

Juniper berries contain many compounds, including camphene, cineole, alpha and beta pinene, myrcene, and terpinene volatile oils. Additionally, juniper barriers also contain active ingredients such as lignin, gum, resin, sugar, beta-carotine, wax, betulin, catechin, borneol, glycolic acid, linalool, limonene, rutin, menthol, calcium, tannins, chromium, B-vitamins, vitamin C, Iron, as well as many other valuable vitamins and minerals. There is even a compound with potential anticancer and antiviral properties called deoxypodophyllotoxin in juniper berries.

As an antiseptic and a diuretic that promotes a healthy urine flow and urinary tracts, excess water and toxins are expelled from the body when juniper berry is taken. Even more important to gout treatment is the fact that juniper berries help to prevent uric acid crystallization and aids in the expulsion of sediment. As gout is a result of buildup of this uric acid crystal sediment in joints, the ability of juniper to inhibit this process is critical to its effectiveness when attacks occur. Instead of having a buildup of these crystals in the joints, they are harmlessly passed in the urine. This also helps to prevent gall stones and kidney stones.

When a gout attack occurs, it is not too late to take juniper as it also contains helpful and effective anti-inflammatory properties, easing the pain and pressure of gout as well as arthritis in the joints. This may be why gin was once recommended to treat gout and arthritis (though it is now known that the alcohol in gin can actually negate any of the benefits of the juniper so don’t go rushing to the nearest store for a bottle).

Overall, the humble juniper berry is considered to be an effective herbal treatment for purifying the blood and cleansing the body of toxins and undesirable buildups, allowing the body to better fight off infection and disease.

Juniper is easiest to take in the form of capsules, which you can get from most health shops and may be taken several times every day.

Before beginning treatment with juniper to treat gout, make sure to talk to your doctor to ensure that there aren’t any other conflicts or issues of which you should be notified. You should always make it a habit to review gout medications and discuss your options before beginning new treatments.

If you’ve suffered from a gout attack or two now is the time to take action to stop the attacks in their tracks and discover effective preventative steps before your uric acid levels get out of hand.

Nail Dystrophy-skin Disordersnail Dystrophy-skin Disorders

Damage to the nail as a result of trauma or specific disease results in nail dystrophy. Nail dystrophy is defined as the presence of misshapen or partially destroyed nail plates. Soft, yellow keratin often accumulates between the dystrophic nail plate and nail bed, resulting in elevation of the former. Various aspects of nail dystrophy are discussed below.

Trauma to the tips of the digits occasionally results in the formation of a subungual hematoma. The severe pain that accompanies this problem can be relieved by piercing the nail plate with a heated needle or paper clip. Large subungual hematomas result in sloughing of the nail plate weeks to months later. Permanent scarring with nail plate thickening and ridging sometimes accompanies trauma. Scarred nails seem particularly predisposed to the subsequent development of Onychomycosis. Unfortunately, surgical removal of the scarred nail plate is simply followed by regrowth of an equally dystrophic nail.

Fungal infection is a very common cause of nail dystrophy. The great toenail, in particular, seems prone to infection. Infection of the fingernails occurs only in nails previously traumatized or in tinea manum with subsequent involvement of the nail. The likelihood of Onychomycosis increases with age; children are rarely if ever affected.

The first sign of Onychomycosis is the development of a small area of Onycholysis (separation of the nail plate from the nail bed) at the distal tip of the nail. Shortly thereafter, a buildup of soft yellow keratin occurs in the space created by the onycholysis. This is accompanied by further lifting of the proximal nail. Eventually, the process results in a partially destroyed, heaped up, misshapen yellow nail. The entire process is asymptomatic unless a thickened toenail begins to press against the top of the shoe.

Most Onychomycosis is due to infection with Trichophyton rubrum, but in a few cases Epidermophyton flocwsum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes may be recovered. Infection with mentagrophytes is usually associated with a mild form of Onychomycosis in which portions of the superficial nail plate whiten. Treatment is the same regardless of which organism causes the disease. Orally administered griseofulvin (or rarely ketoconazole) is required if treatment is desired. For all practical purposes, topical therapy with currently available agents is never curative.

Most fingernail infections will clear after 3 to 6 months of continuous therapy. Toenails, because of their slower growth rate, will require 9 to 12 months of treatment. Nearly all fingernail infections respond to therapy, but the response rate for toenail infections is considerably lower. Moreover, the recurrence rate, once treatment is stopped, is extremely high. Consequently, many clinicians discourage treatment of toenail Onychomycosis ..

Nail dystrophy occurs in a considerable proportion of patients with psoriasis. Most often, nail changes follow the development of cutaneous lesions, but on rare occasions they may precede any other clinical evidence of the disease. Several types of nail dystrophy are recognized. The specific clinical appearance depends on whether the pathology occurs in the nail matrix or nail bed.

Onycholysis occurs as the result of nail bed involvement. In early lesions the normally smooth, curvilinear distal junction of the nail plate with the nail bed becomes irregular; later, deeper levels of separation occur. In advanced disease, soft yellow keratin accumulates between the nail plate and nail bed in a manner clinically indistinguishable from that which occurs in onychomycosis.

Another type of psoriatic lesion occurs between the plate and bed. This results in the appearance of sharply marginated, yellow-brown, nonpalpable color changes in the nail plate. These changes have been likened to “oil spots.”

The earliest reflection of nail matrix disease is the development of ice pic stippling or pitting on the surface of the nail plate. This type of pitting occurs primarily in patients with psoriasis, but it can also be seen with eczematous disease of the hand and in alopecia areata. More advanced involvement of the nail matrix, in concert with nail bed disease, leads to the development of grossly misshapen nails. These more serious nail dystrophies are often accompanied by inflammatory, arthritic changes in the distal interphalangeal joint.

There is no widely acceptable, effective treatment for psoriatic nail dystrophy. Topical steroid therapy used under finger cot occlusion can be tried, but the degree of improvement is usually disappointing. Steroids injected into the nail matrix are more efficacious, but the considerable discomfort associated with multiple injections discourages most patients. Improvement following the long-term use of topically applied fluorouracil has been reported in a few patients. Systemic therapy with methotrexate and etretinate usually leads to clearing of the nails, but the benefits of these agents must be balanced against their toxicity. Concomitant improvement in nail dystrophy often occurs during spontaneous or therapeutically induced remission of the accompanying cutaneous lesions.

Analingus – Best Tips To Consider Sexual Rimming

Just the thought of analplay for some may bring an instant reaction of ‘ick’ or ‘ewh’ especially if you’re one of the many women who’s first encounter with analingus has been by way of a rogue finger prodding your rear without prior consent. Yet done properly between two loving partners analingus can bring you a multitude of wonderful sensations and is also an excellent primer to rectal sex.

If you have not heard of analplay being described as analingus, you may be more familiar with the terms ‘sexual rimming’, ‘tossing the salad’ or ‘licking arse’. Such crude terms are enough to send any nice lady running with her tail squeezed firmly between her legs, but if you are curious and open to new adventures, analingus with the right loving partner can turn from being an unpleasant shock to a very warm and welcome surprise.

Simply, your anus is lined with many delicate nerve endings and when these are stimulated by the tickle of a tantalizing tongue the result can be quite heavenly. The trick to enjoying these new sensations is to love your bum, get over any inhibitions and embrace sexual rimming as an incredibly sensual and intimate act between lovers. It’s the total acceptance of each other’s bodies with no part being off limits that can strengthen bonds and heighten the sense of eroticism.

Speaking of eroticism, another reason analplay feels so deeply sensual is because the pelvic floor muscles lie just below the surface of the anal area. If you squeeze them now you will notice how your anus slightly contracts, and it’s these muscles that compress during orgasm. Analplay including the insertion of sex toys rouses the pelvic floor muscles and intensifies all erotic sensations.

Is Analingus Safe?

Like all forms of sex, precaution does need to be taken when experimenting with analplay. First thing first, you must get clean before sexual rimming. Ensure you both go to the toilet beforehand and then have a shower together. Use warm soapy water to thoroughly clean your anus and you can even insert a soapy finger slightly inside.

It’s important to note that despite all your best efforts at cleaning, there can be times when fecal matter clings on to the anus and skin around it. Although fecal matter is actually stored in the colon and only passes through the rectum when it’s ready to be released all the way out of the body, traces can sometimes remain in the rectum, anal canal and anus after defecation, although these can be washed out.

Don’t get yourself too much in a tizz about this possibility and don’t get too carried away with your cleaning. You can actually damage or tear the soft tissues of skin on your anus if you use too much force. Instead use baby wipes, which are excellent for the gentle cleaning of all skin folds and you also get the added bonus of their pleasant smell.

If this still completely puts you off, you could consider using a Dental Dam which is like a condom for your bum. It acts as a latex barrier between the anus and mouth and while it might not seem very sexy, it will protect you from bacteria and viruses such as HPV, HIV and Hepatitis.

Talk to your partner beforehand, decide if you are going to be the giver or receiver. Using a dental dam might just be the piece of confidence you need to get you on your way to sexual rimming.

How To Give Anal Rimming

When learning how to give anal rimming, or any form of rectal sex, it doesn’t have to be anything you don’t want it to be. The simple caressing, stroking and gentle pressing of a finger around and in the opening of the anus is analinugs enough for some people. Or it’s the gentle flicker of a delicate tongue on the nerve packed area of your anus that is simply bliss for others. Analplay definitely does not have to be about penetration. However if you keen to move on to anal sex, then analingus is essential to prepare your body for penetration.

Like other forms of oral sex, take your time, relax and gradually seduce your partner by massaging their inner thighs or the backs of their legs. Gradually start to lick these areas and use your fingernails to rub around the outside of the bum. Blow on the anus and then apply gentle pressure rubbing around the rim.

The greatest satisfaction comes from tender kisses, loving licks and variations of tongue movements circling in and around igniting all those wonderfully delicate nerve endings.

If your partner permits, you can use both hands to spread the anus wide and then point your tongue and insert it in and out. If you are using your finger, be careful of your nails as any rough edges can nick the delicate skin.

Analplay Positions

If you’re totally new to analplay, positions such as doggy, or bending over may feel too vulnerable and too exposed to begin with. If you are on the receiving end you could start with regular cunnilingus, then as your body becomes more aroused it can be a natural progression for your partner to lick slowly further south. Just be mindful to prevent any bacterial infection that once he hits your bum with his tongue he cannot go back up to your vagina.

Sideways 69 is a good position to start out with. Regular 69 can be a bit tricky for you to get in to a comfortable and accessible position that you can both enjoy, but if you both turn side on, you can massage, lick and suck to your mutual delight.

When you are ready and feel completely comfortable with exposure should you try any of the following positions:

Doggy is where the receiver assumes the doggy position kneeling down and the giver kneels behind gently spreads each butt check to reveal the anus.

Standing Bent Over

This one is self explanatory, however you can modify it by the receiver bending over the edge of a bed or chair to maximize comfort for both parties.

Legs Up

In this position the receiver lays on their back with their legs open and bent, knees drawn up to their chest. The giver lays on their stomach in front. This position can be made more comfortable with the receiver laying on the edge of the bed and the giver keeling in front.

Options For Nail Fungus Treatment

You may have seen a few different advertisements or commercials about nail fungus treatment and prevention but some really don’t know what nail fungus actually is. Nail fungus is a fungal infection of the nail also known as onychomycosis in the medial world.

Nail fungus will typically infect the toenails as a common occurrence. Very seldom will nail fungus attack the fingernails. Studies show that approximately twelve percent of the U.S. population has some sort of nail fungus and it is typical to persons of all ages. People over 40 are most susceptible to nail fungus. Like many other forms of affliction, nail fungus is hereditary. Those who have a suppressed immune system due to certain diseases or treatments may be more susceptible to nail fungus. People who have been diagnosed with AIDS, have received transplants or are undergoing cancer treatments are at higher risk.

You must make an appointment with a dermatologist in order to determine if you have nail fungus. They will scrape your infected nail and give you microscopic examination. The nail will be carefully examined with a microscope which helps to determine what type of fungus is growing in the nail. Your dermatologist will determine if you have nail fungus and which type you have. Dermatophytes are nail fungus usually found in the toenails. Yeast is the common type of nail fungus found in the fingernails.

If your dermatologist has diagnosed nail fungus, he or she will prescribe one of many varieties of treatments available to combat the infection. Among the treatments for nail fungus, there are prescriptions such as gels, creams and lotions that may be effective in treating mild cases of nail fungus. For particularly acute cases, your dermatologist may prescribe oral medication to solve the problem. In extreme cases, your doctor may remove the nail, either the section infected or the entire nail to assist in treatment for the nail fungus.

Except the ugly aspects, there are still good news about nail fungus that is if you do get it it can be treated considerably quickly. There are also steps you can take to avoid getting the infection or avoid getting it again. Talk to your dermatologist, he or she will provide you with the necessary information you need about nail fungus and how you can prevent it.

Prevention is still best to avoid nail fungus but if the fungus does occur, here are some options you can do for treatment. Prescribed oral medications are effective which must be taken for several months. However, these medications can have harmful side effects including headaches, upset stomach, liver damage and rashes. Natural remedies such as apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil are supposedly helpful in treating finger nail fungus. In addition, some essential oils can treat the condition, initially. Aside from curing finger nail fungus, these natural oils have other benefits in the overall health.

NaturesPharma remains unique in combining extensive in vitro and in vivo research on the curative effects of medicinal plants utilizing the corresponding successful clinical application of these extracts in a conventional medicinal fashion.

The use of medicinal plants is taking an increasingly greater role in the treatment of nail fungus as conventional medicine has few effective solutions. Powerless, and faced with treatment failures, some doctors are actively seeking alternative effective treatments to resolve this inadequacy. Created by competent scientists, our nail fungus treatment provides real opportunities to safely eliminate nail fungus with encouraging measurable results.

Very recent advances in the scientific understanding of the medicinal plant extracts in Nail Fungus-Rx suggest a much broader use of natural medicine to treat and cure nail fungus than science thought possible just ten years ago. As most standard treatments for fungal infections are not effective against fungus which has worked its way under the nails, the antifungal effects of this product are of increasing interest.

AntiNail Fungus-Rx is concentrated with a wide spectrum of powerful antifungal plant extracts exhibiting a curative effect against nail fungus, as demonstrated by a wealth of scientific and clinical studies. Results are guaranteed.

AntiNailFungus-Rx helps end nail fungus infections by directly attacking and destroying fungus population infecting nails and nail beds. Results achieved with these products are more than convincing especially in view of the poor efficacy and side effects of treatments using classic synthetic medications.

Lymphoma in Dogs – Pros and Cons of Lymphoma Treatment

Dog lymphoma is a cancer of lymphocytes or white blood cells. It is a common type cancer that affects the lymphatic system in dogs.

Lymphoma symptoms in dogs

The specific symptoms are determined by the type of lymphoma in dogs. The most common type develops as lumps or swollen lymph glands on the neck, legs and shoulders. There is no pain or discomfort in the early stages. The enlarged lymph nodes are usually discovered by accident.

Other less common types of dog lymphoma affect the digestive tract, thymus glands or skin. The symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, tiredness, breathing difficulty, lesions on skin and loss of appetite.

In the advanced stages of lymphoma, the general symptoms include weight loss, anemia, loss of appetite and weakness. As the lymph circulates throughout the body, other organs such as the spleen, liver and bone marrow can be affected. If left untreated, dogs with lymphoma have a life expectancy of 4-6 weeks following diagnosis.

Dog lymphoma treatment

Lymphoma in dogs can be treated with chemotherapy, prednisone therapy and blood stem cell transplant.

Chemotherapy is the main treatment for lymphoma in dogs. With this treatment, more than 80% of dogs will go into remission for at least 12 months. The numerous chemotherapy protocols are either multi-agent or single-agent.

Multi-agent chemotherapy involves a combination of drugs given orally or by injections. It is more effective than single-agent chemotherapy and produces longer remission. However, toxicity and the risk of unwanted side effects are higher as more drugs are used. This type of chemotherapy requires greater time commitment and bigger expense.

Single-agent chemotherapy protocol uses one chemotherapy drug. It is less toxic and costly than multi-agent chemotherapy. Any adverse side effect is attributed to the single drug, so a different drug can be used instead. As it is less effective than multi-agent chemotherapy, the first remission period is shorter, about 7 months.

The duration of remission and choice of chemotherapy protocols depend on the primary location of tumor, lymphoma stage, overall health of dog at the beginning of treatment and any changes in organ function. Most dogs respond to chemotherapy with minimal (if any) side effects. The common side effects are nausea, loss of appetite, diarrhea, vomiting, tiredness, hair loss and slow hair growth. Serious side effects are rare and only seen in 5-10% of dogs.

Prednisone therapy

Lymphoma in dogs can be treated with prednisone (corticosteroid) where chemotherapy is not recommended. Chemotherapy can be costly, so some pet owners choose prednisone therapy instead. Dogs given prednisone experience significant improvement in the short term and can lead a more comfortable life. Although sick, they eat, move and feel better while undergoing prednisone therapy.

Although prednisone therapy is inexpensive, it is not as effective as chemotherapy. Remission is short, about 2-3 months with possible side effects. Prednisone therapy should not be carried out prior to chemotherapy as it reduces the effectiveness of the latter.

Blood stem cell transplant

Stem cells are harvested from bone marrow. Only stem cells that are free from cancer are reintroduced into the dog after it has undergone total body radiation to kill of remaining cancer cells in the body.

Although this treatment raises the survival rate significantly, it is very expensive.

Your vet can advise you on the most suitable lymphoma treatment for your dog. You want to consider the costs, time commitment, life span and your dog’s comfort in deciding whether to proceed with treatment.

Kill Roaches Without Killing Your Family!

1. Cockroaches are vile, disgusting creatures that are nearly impossible to kick out of your house or apartment. Cockroaches live all over the world, but they like to live in homes with people where they can snack on your food, damage wallpaper and books, and spread germs to you and your family.

2. If you HAVE cockroaches, follow them and find out where they go. This is easier said than done, however, so you might need to do a little sleuthing. Check all around the house for cracks and holes through which roaches may enter. Roaches may enter through drains or vents. If they do, fill the sink with a bit of water at night. Use caulking to seal cracks and joints around pipes and around cabinetry.

3. Cockroaches will eat almost anything!!!. BE AWARE that tiny particles of food that you may leave on your counter tops will become a banquet for cockroaches and their rapidly multiplying families.

4. Pull the stove and the fridge away from the walls and clean under them regularly.

5. Keep all of your food in sealed containers. Use glass or plastic containers for cereals, sugar, flour and other foods. Put all food away. Keep food containers sealed, and don’t leave food out for extended periods — don’t even leave dirty dishes overnight.

6 Keep the kitchen clean. Clean up crumbs and spills promptly, and generally keep the area clean. Clean your range top carefully as cockroaches love grease.

7. Empty trash regularly, and keep trash away from the house.

8. Fix dripping faucets or leaks as cockroaches are attracted to water

9 Prevent bugs from coming up the drain. If you believe that the cockroaches are coming up your drains, pour regular, cheap bleach down the drains before leaving the house in the morning. For a stronger solution, mix 1 part Borax with 3 parts bleach.

10. A simple and effective homemade way to lure and trap roaches is with a jar placed next to a wall, allowing the roaches to get in, but not escape. Any bait can be placed in the jar, including coffee grounds and water, but it also works with just plain water in dryer climates.

11. Move logs, garbage cans, and other debris away from your house. Cockroaches love wood piles and other hiding places. During cold weather they will come inside.

12. Seal any cracks in exterior walls as well as cracks everywhere you can inside your house. This will takes time, but it is worth it because you eliminate most of their favorite hiding/breeding places. You’ll need a lot of low toxicity caulking, so use the big tubes with a caulking gun. Fill every crack inside every cabinet; fill the cracks on both sides of floor, door, and window moldings; fill all openings around pipes in bathrooms and kitchens. This makes a big difference and makes the whole house feel cleaner. THIS WILL ALSO HELP SAVE ENERGY!

13. Hydramethylnon and many other commercial chemicals used to kill cockroaches and other insects are toxic, potentially carcinogenic, persistent in your home environment and JUST SIMPLY MAKE ME NERVOUS TO HAVE AROUND!! THEY ARE VERY TOXIC. These chemicals have so many potential size effects that I believe their risks outweigh their benefits.

14. I believe that Borax is the best solution for controlling insects inside my home when it is a problem. Borax is a POISON!!! USE IT CAREFULLY; KEEP IT AWAY FROM KIDS AND PETS. If you have crawling babies, do not use bromide or borax along baseboards, dust inside the walls.

15. Borax, although a poison, is a component of many detergents, cosmetics, and enamel glazes. Borax, sodium tetraborate decahydrate, is not acutely toxic. This does not mean that it is safe!! It means that a significant dose is needed to cause severe symptoms or death. Simple exposure can cause respiratory and skin irritation. Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal distress including nausea, persistent vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Effects on the vascular system and brain include headaches and lethargy, but are less frequent. “In severe poisonings, a beefy red skin rash affecting palms, soles, buttocks and scrotum has been described. With severe poisoning, erythematous and exfoliative rash, unconsciousness, respiratory depression, and renal failure.”

16. A reassessment of boric acid/borax by the United States Environmental Protection Agency Office of Pesticide Programs found potential developmental toxicity (especially effects on the testes).

17.. Borax does not evaporate like many commercial insecticides and pesticides which makes it a better choice to kill cockroaches, ants and fleas than other more volatile materials which will expose all of the members of your household to their chemical vapors.

18. I take a small disposable plastic food container (like Tupperware) and I drill some one quarter inch diameter holes in it. I put about 20g of a mixture of 5g borax, 10g Flour and 5 g cocoa into the Tupperware and I hot glue it closed in case the kids or animals do get at it. I put this “cockroach bait” into cupboards and drawers where there is evidence of cockroaches after I attach child proof locks. This provides an extra precaution I think makes sense.

Ankle Ligament Treatment

Ankle rehab has become an extremely relevant topic in recent decades due to the alarmingly high number of ankle sprains. In fact, there are over 25,000 ankle sprains a day in the United States alone! Unfortunately, there is very little good information about how to rehab a sprained ankle or get the best kind of ankle exercises to heal fully and quickly.

It’s been generally accepted that an ankle twist heals slowly. With the conventional treatment known as R.I.C.E. ( Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation ), rehab takes 2-8 weeks.

Most of us don’t have 2-8 weeks to lie around waiting for a twisted ankle to heal. Looking for Foods to Avoid High Cholesterol?

Question: What kind of foods should you eat if you are trying to avoid high cholesterol levels?

To understand what foods are good and bad for you, it can be good to have an advanced knowledge of exactly what cholesterol is. Cholesterol and triglycerides are the two types of fat that are found in the human bloodstream. These ‘blood fats’ are also known as lipids. Your body makes cholesterol in your liver, and it gets it from the foods you eat.

Cholesterol is an odd substance, for you need it to survive, but too much of it can be very detrimental to your health. High cholesterol levels in the blood stream, if left unchecked, can block blood flow and increase your risk of various heart problems, including atherosclerosis and carotid artery disease.

There are two types of cholesterol- low density lipoproteins and high density lipoproteins. A high level of LDLs massively increases your risk for a heart attack due to a buildup of fat on the inside walls of blood vessels. For this reason, low density lipoproteins are referred to as “bad” cholesterol, while high-density lipoproteins reduce your risk for an attack.

Foods to avoid high cholesterol levels are all around you. Foods that you should avoid to keep your cholesterol low include whole eggs, organ meats such as chicken livers, brains, hearts, kidneys, or sweetbreads. Shellfish should also be avoided, as should snacks and meats that are high in saturated fats. Fried food is usually a no-no for keeping your cholesterol low; also, you should avoid desserts that have a high fat content.

There’s still plenty of foods to eat that are cholesterol-friendly. To lower your cholesterol intake, simple moves like removing fat from meat before cooking it and using only egg whites can go a long way. As far as foods to avoid high cholesterol in general, you should stick to fat free dairy products, eat only lean meats, fish, skinless poultry, whole grain foods, fruits and vegetables. Also, keep your eyes open for margarine that contains little saturated fat.

Foods high in soluble fiber can also help your body avoid high LDL levels. Soluble fiber can be found in such foods as oats, oranges, pears, brussel sprouts, and carrots.

What Are Periodontistry Procedures?

Problems with your teeth or gums that general dentists are unable to treat are referred to the periodontist. The periodontist is a specialist dental surgeon who specialises in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases relating to teeth and the gums. Additional, the periodontist is an expert at placement of dental implants.

A Periodontists offers a wide range of treatments including root planing (in which the infected surface of the root is cleaned), scaling, root surface debridement (in which damaged tissue is removed) and rectification of severe gum related problems.

Periodontal procedures includes a study of the patient’s medial history to ensure there are no pre-existing medical conditions that might in any way affect or have a bearing on the patient’s teeth and gums – especially heart disease, diabetes, and pregnancy.

Next, the periodontist examines the gums for signs of gum line recession, he assesses how the teeth fit together when biting, and also checks to see if any teeth are loose. The periodontist will also (usually) test for periodontal pockets by placing a probe between the gums; this helps the periodontist assess the health of the gums. Most periodontist will also X-ray the patients gums to determine the health of the bone below the gum line. All the information the periodontist so gathers has a bearing on the procedures he may have to perform next.

While your general dentist might clean your teeth by removing the accumulated plaque and tartar, periodontists performs a much deeper cleaning of the gums. In fact, regular scaling and planing is recommended as it provides a clean, smooth surface for the gums to reattach to the teeth and this can only be done by a periodontist.

If there are indications of severe gum diseases such as gingivitis, periodontitis flap and periodontal pockets, the periodontist will recommend surgical procedures to correct these. During the surgery, the periodontist will lift back the gums and remove the tarter that might have accumulated under the gum line. Once the tarter is removed, he places the gums so that the tissue fits snugly around the tooth. While doing so, he also decreases the space between the gum and tooth. This clears out the periodontal pockets that tend to accumulate harmful bacteria that are also the cause of bad breath.

Some senior patients might exhibit bone destruction due to gum disease. You periodontist can regenerate the tissue which in turn will stimulate bone and gum tissue growth. Your periodontist might also place a mesh-like fabric between gum and the bone. This allows the bone and connective tissue to grow back without having to combat with the gums for space.

Preventative Dentistry specialists is especially effective in treating patients who have suffered injuries due to some accident. For example, the periodontist can perform soft tissue grafts that reinforce thin gums or perform bone grafts or even add synthetic bone to strengthen tissue and bone that might be damaged in an accident.

What You Should Know About Metatarsalgia

Metatarsalgia generally refers to pain that affects the ball of your foot.  It is sometimes called a “stone bruise.”  It most often occurs in the first metatarsal head (the ball of the foot just under the big toe) where there are two small sesamoid bones.

You may have metatarsalgia if you experience any of the following symptoms:  pain in the ball of your foot; a burning sensation at the base of your toes; pain localized at the base of your big toe; numbness or tingling in your toes; shooting pain in your toes; pain that increases when you flex your feet or when you walk barefoot; the sensation that there is a pebble or stone in your shoe.

Metatarsalgia is very common among athletes who spend a lot of time jumping or running.  It can also be caused by ill-fitting shoes that do no distribute the weight of the body properly across the foot, or that fail to cushion and protect the ball of the foot when it comes in contact with the ground.  People with bunions, hammertoe or other foot deformities are more likely to develop metatarsalgia.  Any deformity that alters the position or shape of the metatarsals can lead to this kind of foot pain.  People who are particularly heavy are also more likely to develop the position, as their extra weight puts stress on the small bones of the feet.

If you think you have metatarsalgia, the first step is to ensure you are wearing supportive footwear.  Runners and athletes may need to throw out an old pair of athletic shoes and start anew.  If you have been spending a lot of time in flip-flops or non-supportive sandals, give your feet a little additional support for a couple of days.  Replace your flip-flops with athletic shoes that offer arch support.  Some people who suffer from metatarsalgia find that orthopedic inserts can be very helpful when it comes to reducing pain in the ball of the foot.  Certain brands of orthotics even produce inserts that are specifically designed to alleviate pain associated with this condition.  Other people find that adding arch supports to their shoes does more to relieve pain than gel inserts.

In addition to the above treatments, stay off your feet as much as possible.  If the pain in your foot does not go away after changing your shoes or taking a couple of days off from physical activity, talk with your podiatrist.

Plantar Fasciitis Secrets to Immediate Relief – Part 1

Plantar Fasciitis Secrets of Getting Immediate Relief – Footwear 1

The secrets to getting immediate relief of your plantar fasciitis pain is that making sure your foot is well supported when you are weight bearing and walking and doing your activities. Support for your feet is important as it requires you to make sure that your foot is supported in a fashion that is going to enable you to walk with freedom and ease yet at the same time help to take the pressure off the plantar fascia… a soft tissue structure that is important to holding the foot in it’s correct alignment.

Most problems that affect the feet, legs, knees and hips tend to relate to either, alignment issues or a direct traumatic injury to the area of concern. With plantar fascia injuries direct trauma’s tend to be either during sports, running, jumping or high impact activities such as boxing, aerobics. Though occupational injuries can cause problems as well. Jumping off the side of a truck and landing on uneven ground, drum players in bands, retail workers who work on their feet all day. Construction workers, landscapers and concrete cutters all can sustain this type of injury from direct trauma. Even the home gardener can sustain injuries such as using the humble old shovel/ spade when using soft shoes that don’t support the bottom of your feet. Support for your feet and plantar fascia can come in many different forms. The first and easiest form is footwear.

Footwear runners… joggers, athletic shoes are ideal as they provide total enclosed support for the feet. Supportive runners should include…a stiff heel counter (heel of the shoe) with soft padding. Flexible through the ball of the shoe (that is the toe section of the shoe should bend where the toes bend) and firm through the midsole of the shoe. They should have laces ideally. Why laces you ask…the important thing is that laces can be adjusted to the size of one’s foot. Foot size and fluid volume of the foot vary from day to day and having laces will enable you to accommodate those changes in volume. Then insole, shoe liner or foot bed should be able to be removed. So that if any other style of foot bed needs to be placed inside this can be done very easily.

Footwear Sandals…Many people wear sandals particularly in the warmer climates. There are sandals that are ideal for supporting the foot with plantar fasciitis and there are sandals that are not. I would highly recommend investing in sandals that have a contoured sole and that the sole of the sandal is made from a cork or EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) base. If you go to many of your specialty shoe stores, outdoor, camping or hiking shoe shops there will be numerous style of sandals you can try on that will help support your plantar fascia. Some of the brand include..Naot, Teva, Keen, Homy Ped, are just some brands that will help support your feet.

One of the important plantar fasciitis secrets is using the correct footwear to help support your feet when you have pain and discomfort. If you find you don’t get the success from shoes alone you may need to visit a Podiatrist (foot specialist) or MD to help you.

It’s the Ingredients That Help DermaWound Heal Chronic, Hard-To-Heal Wounds

There are over 5 million people in the United States that suffer from chronic, hard-to-heal wounds. We feel that number is way too high. We would like to offer information on a product that has been healing many of these wounds. DermaWound heals pressure sores, diabetic leg or foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, ischaemic ulcers to surgical incisions/wound dehiscence, decubitus ulcers, sickle-cell ulcers and the list goes on…

DermaWound has been on the market for over 17 years helping people heal. The key to DermaWound’s success is the ingredients. They use a patented/proprietary, all natural formulation. We have listed each ingredient and then, more importantly, what each of those ingredients do to aid in the healing of long-standing chronic wounds.

Poly-Saccharide Blend– Sugars have multiple types of healing properties that have contributed to their use in wound care by many diverse cultures over the millennia. Sugars are bacteriostatic, fungistatic and anti-infective, so they do not promote the growth of bacteria or fungus. In addition, the sugars used in DermaWound have an osmotic pressure gradient to them that will pull edema and exudates out of a wound, decreasing any inflammation, while increasing blood flow. Our special poly-saccharide blend is also important in our 12-24 hour odor control guarantee.

Iodine USP– Iodine is anti: fungal, bacterial, viral & microbial. It is a very good broad spectrum anti-infective. To date: no known microbe, virus or fungus has developed a resistance against this time tested-tincture of old-Iodine.

Poly-Mineral Blend– Primarily calcium and magnesium with 73 trace minerals. These are utilized as an external source of nutritional building blocks for the metabolism of the recovering wound bed. We have found our blend to be especially important in ramping up cellular activity and growth.

Citric Acid– A natural preservative.

Dibasic Sodium Phosphate– A stabilizer

Glycerin– Smoothing agent.

Carrageenan– Increases adherence/tackiness of product to the wound surface.

Silica– Promotes wound healing. Absorbed by the body and used as fundamental building blocks in the formation of new tissues.

1-Octadecanol– An alcohol sugar – provides fundamental building blocks and energy for new tissue growth.

1-Hexadecanol – An alcohol sugar – provides fundamental building blocks and energy for new tissue growth.

Benzocaine USP – A topical anesthetic.

Purified Water– Provides a base to blend into a creamy consistency. Slightly alkaline – will contribute to wound healing.

No manufactured ingredients. All ingredients are 100% natural and ready to help your wounds heal.
