Prevent Liver Diseases, Symptoms of Liver Diseases

The liver is also an organ of fire, All Bhuta-Agnis( fire): Nabhasa Agni, Vayavya Agni, Tejo Agni, Apo Agni, and Parthiva Agni are all situated here. These agnis and Ranchaka pitta originating in the liver serve to break down substances into their respective elemental factors akasham(space), vayu(air), thejus( fire), ap( water), and prithvi(earth ) and distribute them to the appropriate tissues (dhatus) in the body.

Fatty Liver Disease – This disease occurs when fat droplets build-up in the liver and it becomes â??fattyâ??. Poor diet and alcohol abuse are the main cause of this condition, which can negatively impact the liverâ??s performance.

The liver processes nutrients from the digestive system. It also removes toxins from the body, and produces a greenish-brown fluid known as bile that is required for digestion. There are a wide number of diseases that affect the liver. They range from chronic illnesses such as hepatitis and cirrhosis to acute conditions such as cancer or bile duct obstruction. Millions of Americans have both chronic and acute liver disease. Liver cancer, portal hypertension and bile duct obstruction are three of the most common liver diseases.

It doesnâ??t matter if itâ??s a disease of the liver of a gall bladder affection, jaundice is the main symptom. If one notices that his skin color becomes jaundiced he can almost be sure he has an issue with his gall bladder or liver. The eyes also get an yellow color, instead of the characteristic white. The jaundice appears because the old blood isnâ??t filtered out correctly. If the jaundice appears with flu like symptoms together then a medical control is required because it may be a result of hepatitis or serious damage taken by the gall bladder.

Cirrhosis of the liver is a slow processing disease. The healthy liver tissue is taken over by scar tissue and then prevents the liver from functioning normally. The flow of blood is blocked when to much scar tissue is formed. Hepatitis C, fatty liver disease, and alcohol abuse are the most common causes of liver cirrhosis. Fatty liver disease is caused mostly by obesity and diabetes. A lot of people that are heavy drinkers do harm there livers in some way but not everyone will get cirrhosis.

Start consuming Dandelion (that plant that probably grows all around your home). The leaves of the Dandelion plant can be picked, washed, and mixed in with your salads. But you can also find Dandelion tinctures or other forms of Dandelion extracts at your local health food store. Dandelion is extremely useful for the health of the liver and related organs and glands. (Note that a poorly functioning liver will only bring DOWN the function of other organs and glands). It has been used to successfully treat liver disease, such as hepatitis and liver insufficiency.

How Do I Know That I Have Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia or commonly known as man boobs or “moobs” can be difficult detect at first. A sense of denial and fear could be an initial reactions; denial over the fact that you are going through an unmanly change, and fear over something that you don’t have a clear understanding.

There are a number of factors that can cause gynecomastia, these include hormonal imbalance, obesity, recreational drugs, and certain medications. When any of these go out of whack, and then stirs up your system causing an imbalance in your hormones, the insidious symptoms of gynecomastia starts to manifest.

For those men who have big appetite, obesity could be a cause of man boobs. An excessive proliferation of fatty tissues in the chest can make it appear more feminine as it contours into a more shapely form. This condition is called as pseudogynecomastia or ‘false gynecomastia’.

Pseudogynecomastia can be detected by lying down on your back and then placing your thumb and forefinger on both sides of your areola (the darkened region around the nipple), and then bring them together. If both your fingers touch each other, then you have this called ‘false gynecomastia’.

The good thing about this is that it can be resolved by regular exercise and proper diet. You have to keep a good leash on your lifestyle and avoid from sliding up the scale by gaining some unwanted pounds that can sneak its way to your chest.

True gynecomastia on the other hand can be rather disturbing as its symptoms start to develop. This is caused by the excessive growth of glandular tissue in the breast and takes a more definite form. The general impression among those who suffered from it is that it involves puffy, itchy and sore nipples and a lump underneath the nipple area. You might also observe that your nipple is more sensitive to touch.

Those who are taking performance enhancing drugs or steroids can eventually develop gynecomastia. This is because these drugs increase testosterone, and when levels are in excess as recognized by the body, it then releases estrogen to balance the amounts. It is estrogen that causes the growth of breast tissues.

You can check gynecomastia the same way you examine for pseudogynecomastia – by lying down with your arm behind your head. If you feel a definite fibrous lump behind or under your nipple then it is true gynecomastia.

Some guys say that it feels like M & M’s or a hard little marble, while others claim that it is like a lump of tissue filled with liquid, or a small balloon filled with jello. To sum up, hard tissue that is sensitive is gynecomastia.

To be sure about what you have, you can approach your physician and get a thorough examination. He might even give some blood tests to rule you out of breast cancer, but usually gynecomastia is just a benign condition.

Is It Safe to Use the Best Testosterone Boosters?

The best testosterone boosters are mainly used to increase the body muscle mass. It has been seen that testosterone therapy is also effective to improve memory and concentration, increase the level of energy, and enhance libido or sexual desire. However, the use of testosterone booster can also contribute to the development of certain medical conditions and health problems. Two types are available in the market, legal boosters and illegal boosters. There are also certain excellent natural testosterone boosters, that are effective and so not have side effects.

The illegal boosters give immediate results and can be obtained without prescription. However, it is strongly recommended to avoid these boosters as they contain anabolic steroid, which is harmful to the body. The legal varieties are the best testosterone boosters and are generally considered as safe and effective for muscle growth and to increase sex drive, but they are also not completely devoid of adverse effects. There are many side effects associated with the use of testosterone therapy. Actually, the natural testosterone boosters are the safest and highly recommended testosterone supplements.

Sleep Apnea: The development or exacerbation of already existing obstructive sleep apnea is one of the main common side effects of even the best boosters. This is a sleep disorder that causes breathing pauses and loud snoring during sleeping. The increased level of testosterone in the body can lead to the worsening of sleep apnea.

Polycythemia: This is another major health problem that can be caused by the intake of even the best testosterone boosters. Polycythemia is often characterized by an increase in the number of red blood cells.

Prostate Problems: The administration of testosterone can also result in the occurrence of benign prostatic hyperplasia or in the aggravation of pre-existing prostate cancer.

Acne and Allergic Reactions: The testosterone is widely regarded as one of the triggering factors for acne. It stimulates the activity of oil glands making the skin more oily and vulnerable to acne. This hormone may also cause allergic reactions, such as hives, rash, difficulty breathing, itching, chest tightness, and swelling of facial parts.

Enlargement of Breast: It has been found that the use of testosterone booster can cause gynecomastia or enlargement of breast in men.

Other Possible side effects of Testosterone: Individuals who take the best testosterone boosters or any other testosterone supplements can also experience many other side effects, including stomachache, problems with urination, dizziness, mood changes, intermittent breathing during sleep, changes in testicles, appetite loss, inflammation of gums, weight gain, nausea, painful erection, and protracted erection.

Treatment Regarding Kidney Stones

Kidney stones form when there is a decrease in urine volume or an excess of stone-forming substances in the urine. The most common type of kidney stone contains calcium in combination with either oxalate or phosphate. Other chemical compounds that can form stones in the urinary tract include uric acid and the amino acid cystine.

Kidney stones, also known as renal calculi, are rock like structures formed in the kidney. The stones are made out of certain substances that are found in the urine and can block the flow of urine and cause bladder inflammation. The kidney stones can appear in the kidney and the ureters and cause pain during urination. It is possible to reduce the kidney stones by drinking lots of water.

Drinking more fluids. You need to drink enough water to keep your urine clear, about 8 to 10 glasses a day. Try to drink 2 glasses of water every 2 hours while you are awake. If you have kidney, heart, or liver disease and are on fluid restrictions, talk with your doctor before increasing your fluid intake.

The formation of stones in the kidneys or urinary tract is not an uncommon disorder. The stones are formed from the chemicals usually found in the urine such as uric acid, phosphorus, calcium, and oxalic acid. They may vary in consistency from grit, sand, and gravel-like obstructions the size of a bird’s egg. Stones may form and grow because the concentration of a particular substance in the urine exceeds its solubility. Most kidney stones are composed either of calcium oxalate or phosphate, the latter being most common in the presence of infection. About ninety per cent of all stones contain calcium as the chief constituent. More than half of these are mixtures of calcium, ammonium and magnesium, phosphates and carbonates, while the remainder contains oxalate.

Keep a cap on your calcium. “Of all the stones we see, 92 percent are made of calcium or calcium products,” says Dr. Fugelso. If your doctor says your last stone was calcium-based, you should be concerned about your intake of calcium. If you’re taking supplements, the first thing to do is check with your doctor to see if they are really necessary. The next thing to do is check the amount of calcium-rich foods—milk, cheese, butter, and other dairy foods—you eat on a daily basis. The idea is to limit—not eliminate—calcium-rich food in your diet.

Chief among these is acid to quickly dissolve those jagged edges and thus reduce that agonizing pain. Don’t be alarmed at the prospect of drinking acid, because many of the beneficial foods we eat contain acid. For example, that freshly squeezed Florida orange juice — a great way to start your breakfast — contains citric acid. And cranberries, prunes and plums are among some of the best health-giving foods, yet are rich in benzoic acid. Even that old favorite for keeping the doctor at bay: the apple has high levels of malic acid, which give the fruit its clean, sharp taste.

Your doctor may ask you to catch the kidney stone by passing your urine through filter paper or a tea strainer. The stone can then be analysed to find out what type it is to help guide your treatment.

Autism & Sulfur Sensitivity – Part 2

A Biomedical Autism Intervention Doctor Explains:

A sulfite sensitivity does not constitute an automatic allergy to sulfa drugs and vice versa. Many people with asthma who have obvious reactions to sulfites can many times have some in small amounts and suffer no adverse reactions. A sensitivity reaction to sulfites is not a true allergy like a sulfa drug allergy, and so allergy testing for sulfites in unreliable.

Sulfates are chemical compounds with sulfur surrounded by oxygen atoms. It is a derivative of sulfuric acid and can complex with various minerals in the body to form stable compounds such as magnesium sulfate found in Epsom Salt (which is used as a laxative or a muscle soothing aid in bathwater). Some people can have sulfate sensitivity, but it is questionable whether this is truly an immune reaction to the sulfate or an immune reaction to chemical compounds attached to sulfate. More commonly, a sulfate sensitivity is a biochemical reaction from other sources, and have nothing to do with an allergy. This leads us in the next discussion – sulfur supplement sensitivity.

Sulfur sensitivity can occur when too much homocysteine is pushed through the trans-sulfuration pathway creating an abundance of sulfur compounds. This is particularly a problem if an enzyme called CBS is up-regulated creating an increased production of sulfur byproducts. These byproducts can contribute to the overproduction of ammonia. Ammonia can lead to irritability, hand-flapping, stimming behavior, language problems and other chemical imbalances in individuals on the autism-spectrum. Other chemical systems in the body become stressed leading to a further difficulty in eradicating ammonia. Genetic mutations in the CBS and MTHFR complexes make this problem worst.

Finally, an enzyme called SUOX (sulfite oxidase) in a deficiency state will effect sulfate regulation which effects glutathione production, as well as sulfates for other proteins in the body that support protein structure. Glutathione is our bodies’ most potent antioxidant and supports cellular detoxification. There is a genetic disorder that leads to severe brain damage and death with the SUOX enzyme deficiency, but it is likely possible that sub-clinical stressors in this enzyme could adversely affect some children on the autism-spectrum, while not causing a disease process.

The likely scenario is if children are having difficulty with sulfur containing supplements (i.e. taurine, Epsom salt, MSM, methionine) that a genetic mutation pattern has occurred in the CBS and MTHFR genes, and has nothing to do with a sulfur allergy – which we know is a misnomer.

How Can I Get Rid Of This Bitter Taste In My Mouth

Question:

My diet is good, with virtually no wheat or dairy, no red meat, very little alcohol or coffee, a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh vegetable juices, lots of water and green tea. I live a pretty healthy lifestyle. But I often have a very salty bitter-ish taste, which can leave me with a dry mouth and burning lips. This sometimes stays with me for days. My acupuncturist says this points to a problem with my kidneys. But how and why, and what can I do to get rid of it?

Answer:

Our tongues help in mixing food with saliva in the mouth, swallowing and, above all, tasting food. But for such an important part of the body, the tongue gives us comparatively little trouble. People have problems with hearing, sight and smell but rarely have complaints of the tongue. The result is that there are no tongue specialists.

Until 30 years ago, the first thing you would be asked to do if you went to a doctor was to show him or her your tongue. Tongue diagnosis was taught in many medical schools. When I was a medical student in Moscow, Professor Romashoff, the dean of my faculty, said that the tongue is the mirror of the gastrointestinal tract. He mapped the tongue with correlates in the stomach, liver, colon and intestines. I have been using tongue diagnosis for more than two decades. The clinical pharmacologist Dr Andrew Herxheimer, now retired, suggested I make diagrams of patients’ tongues, annotated with their conditions, to see if there was a connection. I now have thousands of these on my patients’ cards. The accuracy with which one can diagnose simply from the state of the tongue is astonishing.

Taste is accentuated because of certain conditions in the digestive system or kidneys (hence your acupuncturists suggestion). My own experience with patients is that those who have high stomach acid find that their teeth and tongue feel ‘sour’. The bitter taste usually comes from excess production of bile (which emulsifies fats so that they can be broken down). As this excess bile is diffused into the stomach, it can produce a strong taste in the mouth. Some of the vegetable juices you are drinking (and citrus fruit) may be causing excess acid production in the stomach, which in turn may stimulate bile production to create an alkaline medium for digestion to take place.

Excess stomach acid can cause dryness in the mouth and burn your lips. Regurgitating acid, which tends to happen during sleep, irritates the lips and in time can change their colour. That is why people with high stomach acid have very pink lips. In my book The Integrated Health Bible, you will find drawings of the tongue in different states, which should give you a clearer picture.

Sometimes people get a metallic taste. This could be due to amalgam mercury fillings in the teeth or to digestive problems, excessive drinking, constipation, or to having just given up smoking, taken a long course of antibiotics, steroids or zinc supplements. I recommend removing amalgam fillings wherever possible, but this must, be done by a dentist experienced in the removal of these fillings, because of the possibility of mercury escaping. You can see that you may have to turn detective to solve this mystery of the salty bitter taste in your mouth.

In general, the following suggestions should help you

* Avoid citrus fruits and juices, also pineapple, mango and tomato juice, which produce excess stomach acid.

*Avoid mushrooms: they often cause bloating and gas and may leave an aftertaste.

* Eat papaya and drink freshly juiced organic carrots, which are good for the liver and bowels.

* Chronic constipation often causes a bad taste in the mouth. as well as bad breath. Drink plenty of water (at least eight big glasses daily) and eat prunes, fig: and spinach. lf you are constipated, take two tablets of Herbolax at bedtime for two months.

* Suck a clove for ten minutes, morning and evening, to relieve the sensations in your mouth and tongue.

* The nerves that go to the tongue are part of the cranial nerve system. Sometimes, Hypersensitivity of the tongue or a burning sensation can be cured by massaging the neck and shoulders. This improves the blood circulation to the brain stem and midbrain, where the nerve centres are located.

Geographic Tongue: Benign Migratory Glossitis – What It Is And What It Is Not

The Geographic Tongue condition earned its name due to affected tongues looking like a aerial snapshot of a piece of land: grooves in the tongue, and irregular patches of rough and smooth areas. Medically, the condition is known as Benign Migratory Glossitis.

“Benign” means that the condition is not going to develop into anything more serious. “Migratory” means that the tongue’s appearance changes over time, particularly with the rough and smooth patches ‘moving’. “Glossitis” means ‘inflammation of the tongue’.

Geographic Tongue is a very common condition, and there is some indication that it’s prevalence is growing. It can be painful, but should not be confused with other conditions of the tongue which are generally more painful and would be treated in a different way. Geographic Tongue Remedy provides a support forum and recommends an excellent resource for treating Geographic Tongue naturally.

Three other common tongue disorders that can be confused with Geographic Tongue are:

Yeast Infection or Thrush. Usually there are raised white patches on the tongue, surrounded by red borders. This is a painful condition, often made worse by attempts to scrape off the white patches, which can result in bleeding. Thrush can be treated using anti-fungal drugs.

Oral Lichen Planus. This condition is usually localised to the inner surface of the cheeks, but can affect the surface of the tongue too. Not much is known about this condition, but it is more painful than Geographic Tongue. Oral Lichen Planus can respond well to steriod medication.

Glossopyrosis or Burning Tongue. The appearance of the tongue is generally unaffected but severe pain is experienced, especially when the tongue comes into contact with spicy or hot food, citrus, or toothpaste. Post-menopausal women are most at risk of developing this condition. Potential causes include vitamin B, folic acid, or estrogen deficiences or yeast infection.

To treat any of these conditions, firstly consult a throat doctor for a correct diagnosis. Geographic Tongue is usually best treated naturally, although topical steroids can be tried. The most successful approach is often to determine the root cause, which is commonly deficiences in vitamins and minerals, and in the efficiency of the digestive system.

Can Cats Get Food Poisoning?

If you have ever had food poisoning, you know it can range from an uncomfortable stomach to a stint in hospital. One of the top causes of food poisoning is a bacterium called salmonella that we get from our food. But can it affect cats?

Bacterial diseases

Cats are as susceptible to salmonella and other bacterial diseases as humans are, particularly effecting kittens when they are in crowded conditions and cats who have suffered with another illness that has weakened their immune system. Salmonella can also stay alive for some months or even years in the right conditions, such as in soil or manure which the cat licks from their paws and contracts the illness. It can also be contracted from eating raw or contaminated foods.

Symptoms associated with this type of illness include vomiting, diarrhea and high fever as well as dehydration and general weakness. They may have blood in their stool and it may have a particularly foul smell. Dehydration happens when vomiting or diarrhea go on for too long while bacteria can also lead to abscesses in the liver, kidneys and lungs. Occasionally, conjunctivitis may been seen and the illness can last initial for 4-10 days but in a lesser form for as much as a month and is sometimes fatal.

Both cats and dogs can be carriers of these illnesses without actually having any symptoms, called asymptomatic. They can pass the bacteria on through their faeces.

Diagnosis and treatment

To diagnose an infection of salmonella, a vet will use a stool sample or take blood, sometimes even a sample of infected tissues in an extreme case. The mildest forms of the infection will be left to clear from the system naturally but in more serious cases, antibiotics may be used. This is not often as the antibiotics can actually promote the growth of the salmonella in some cases and if given are usually administered by injection rather than by tablet.

Sometimes intravenous fluids are needed if a cat is severely dehydrated and even those who are only mildly dehydrated may need replacement electrolytes and subcutaneous fluids administered. Again, a vet will let you know if these treatments are required.

Preventing this illness is something out of owner’s hands but by maintaining sanitary conditions around the cat’s food and toilet areas, this can help reduce the risk. Also being careful when handling litter and its contents is important as this disease can spread from one species to another and is considered a public health risk.

Other bacterial infections

Campylobacterosis is a disease that causes acute infectious diarrhea in kittens and is most often found in catteries and cat shelters where animals are in poor conditions. It comes from contact with contaminated food or water, uncooked poultry or beef or from animal faeces and can survive as long as five weeks in water or unpasteurised milk. Signs of the infection include diarrhea that has blood or mucus in it and the illness normally takes 5-15 days to clear the system. It can pass to humans so care is needed.

Bordetella is an upper respiratory infection that can be present in normal and healthy cats as a secondary infection. Very occasionally, it can cause pneumonia. It is most common in young cats in shelters or where there are many animals and symptoms include a fever, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, eyes, and the swelling of the lymph nodes under the chin. Antibiotics are sometimes needed but there is a vaccine available.

What Are the Main Symptoms of Costochondritis?

Having costochondritis can be painful and even inconvenient. The condition starts when there is an inflammation at the cartilage that connects the breast bone (sternum) and ribs together. Costochondritis can come from a number of causes, but none of them specific and identified as the definite cause. Some doctors say that the condition is caused by repeated microtrauma or injury to the chest, or as a complication to a surgery done at the sternum. Some also say it can be caused by chronic respiratory conditions, a viral infection, or a presence of an inflammatory disease. Symptoms of costochondritis can manifest during excessive physical exerction, coughing, and sneezing. The symptoms can include:

– Pain and tenderness at the costosternal joint – the point where your ribs connect with the sternum.

– The quality can range from dull, to sharp and gnawing pain.

– Often usually located at the left side of the chest, but can radiate towards the arms and sides. It is also possible to feel the pain at the right side of the chest.

– Pain is usually felt between the 2nd and 5th costosternal joint.

Symptoms of costochondritis are often noted to be aggravated when doing excessive breathing, heavy physical activity, or doing something that you are not accustomed to. To ease the pain, some doctors recommend taking NSAID’s every 4 hours or whenever needed. If you are not experiencing chest wall pain, your doctor may also advice you to take a pain medication 30 minutes before doing any strenuous activity such as moving furniture and preparing dinner for 6 people. To help the pain medication, you are advised to rest and calm your breathing as deep respiration is known to worsen the pain. Hot packs applied for several minutes several times a day may also help, but be careful not to burn yourself. Some find that cold packs will only make the condition worse as it will bring about muscular spasm. Symptoms of costochondritis can also be lessened when taking muscle relaxants with NSAID’s for better relief. If these remedies do not work, or if you experience fever, chills, nausea and vomiting with the onset of pain, you must go visit the doctor. You may be experiencing other infectious condition or a heart attack.

The Health Benefits of Cheese at Your Mexican Grill

Cheese is delicious. It’s one of nature’s greatest gifts, we think. Cheese fills everyone’s heart with happiness, your mouth will delightedness, and your soul with goodness. That’s probably one of the reasons you’re likely to find at your local Mexican grill hard-working, dedicated employees banded together in the kitchen to hand-grate piles of fresh, delicious, nutritious cotija cheese. Mounds of it! Mountains of it, even.

At the Mexican grill they grate enough cotija cheese to make the Pied Piper lose control of his mice. And the Pied Piper isn’t going to let those mice eat all his cheese. Why? Not just because of the previously noted superior qualities of cheese, though that clearly has quite a lot to do with it. But the real reason that cotija cheese is a beloved staple at the Mexican grill is because cotija is among the greatest possible of all cheeses.

We know that’s a bold statement. It’s hard to take at face value when there are so many other cheeses available, in all kinds of cultures and all kinds of food. Even Mexican grill food occasionally embraces other kinds of cheese, though we suspect it’s a slightly begrudging kind of foray into the world of cheeses that aren’t the beauty and perfection that cotija is more than happy to bring to the table.

So why is cotija the most superior of cheeses? Why does “the Parmesan of Mexico” (but so much better than Parm in our opinion!) have it going on?

Cotija is a salty, crumbly, ridiculously tasty milk cow cheese name after the town Cotija in Mexico. It’s a classic south-of-the-border ingredient, beloved for its tangy zip and unique texture. It’s known as el queso de montaña, or mountain cheese, because its makers live and cheese it up high in the mountains. And that’s where it gets its flavor and color, too-the milk that makes cotija comes straight to us from cows that have been munching on the rich mountain grass that only grows during the short rainy season.

It’s strongly flavored, great for grating, and found on so many Mexican grill dishes (as is proper). From salads to soups, tacos to tostadas, it’s all enhanced by cotija magic. Best of all, and maybe why the Pied Piper the stamina to keep chasing mice, cotija cheese is so much more than just great-tasting: It’s good for you, too.

Like most dairy products, cotija a great source of the protein we need to build the tissue of our heart and other muscles and stay healthy. Just one-ounce serving gives you 7 grams of protein, or a whopping 14 percent of your daily recommended amount of protein. Even better, cotija has got plenty of bone-building calcium. And if you’re diabetic or on one of those low-carb diets, it’s important to note that cotija is also low in carbs. So get behind the Piper in line at your nearest Mexican grill to enjoy how cotija can pack a real punch to your tastebuds.

Topical cream Renova (Tretinoin) – use for treating diabetic foot ulcers

Diabetes is one of the most daunting health conditions affecting the entire world population, especially in developed countries. It has been ranked in the top ten reasons of human mortality for quite some time now, and due to unhealthy lifestyles, its proportion in human disorders just keeps increasing. Apart from its disruptive effect, diabetes can also raise a number of other long-term complications like atherosclerotic vascular disease, nephropathy, retinopathy, etc.

Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is one such chronic development of diabetes. The nerves from all over the body send signals to the brain, which helps the brain to understand the overall activities happening in the body. Similarly the brain also orders different organs into action through these set of nerves. A patient of peripheral neuropathy or ischemia will have disrupted network of nerves, thus resulting in wrong signals between the brain and the affected body parts. One of the most important organs to be affected by peripheral neuropathy is the leg. Foot ulcers are one of the most important indications of the leg being affected by peripheral neuropathy.

320,000 to 480,000 Americans annually suffer from some kind of foot ulcer due to peripheral neuropathy. The ulcers can go on to aggravate the situation and develop into gangrene. This may need an amputation of the foot to reduce the infection from spreading. Certain studies carried out recently have found adjunctive use of generic topical Tretinoin (Renova) cream to be quite effective on the partial as well as full thickness wounds caused by diabetic foot ulcers. It is advisable that patients do not buy Renova cream and start generic topical Renova application on their own. Diabetic ulcers usually do not cause much pain and hence it is difficult to realize their presence for starting the treatment. Users should buy Renova only after the physician is certain of the ulcer’s presence and stage of development.

Diabetic Wounds, Treatment and Use of Renova

When a regular wound starts to heal, its cure happens in stages. The wound should first stop bleeding, which is followed by inflammation and disposal of dead tissues. Proliferation follows along with reduction in wound size and then the process of self-healing starts. Finally, a new layer of skin covers up the wound. In a diabetic, the healing process has number of interruptions and irritations in each step of healing. Hence diabetic wounds need to be treated in a different manner. Some of the more frequently used methods of treating these wounds (used individually or in combination) include, preventing any stress on the injury; removal of dead tissue; proper supply of oxygen to the wound or sugar control.

Generic Renova is a retinoid, which increases cell multiplication, thus increasing the rate of wound healing. White Collar Effect – Now Doctors Cause High Blood Pressure

A recent study has revealed a little known fact, a fact that may sound funny and surprising at the same time. Doctors ’cause blood pressure to rise’! find it strange, but its true. Popularly known as white collar effect, it refers to sudden increase in patients BP due to patients becoming stressed by being in a doctor’s surgery or a hospital.

UK experts said that its better giving cuff to patients for 24 hrs for better monitoring and it clearly shows that external factors do affect BP readings.

High blood pressure is a major cause of heart and kidney stroke and affects 40% of adults in UK.The research also found a difference to be 17 units if nurses took measurement and 29 units if doctors checked it. Doctors certainly cause more stress in patients, study showed.

Professor Graham MacGregor, chairman of the BPA, said that Many people feel slightly anxious when going to see a doctor, which is why we have always encouraged blood pressure measuring at home as well as in the clinic, and promotes the use of home blood pressure monitors and ambulatory testing where indicated.

It was also found that if the patients BP is closer to normal then there is less difference between BP measurements taken by ambulatory monitoring and those taken by a nurse or doctor. The findings are expected to shape new blood pressure monitoring guidelines and doctors say “one size fits all” will no longer be the standard norm.

This is a really interesting fact showing effects of external environment on the patient.
