Heart Attack: Can I Get Social Security Disability in Virginia?

A heart attack can result in a serious impairment. However, it is not necessarily disabling. Social Security has a strict set of guidelines regarding heart ailments. Social Security will consider your remaining functional capacity for work after your heart attack.

1. Your age can be a very important factor. If you are under age 50 and can still do some form of work such as clerical work then your heart ailment will probably not entitle you to benefits.

2. Your age can work in your favor. If you are over 55 with only a high school education and a past history of manual labor, then you would have a very good case for disability if your heart ailment now prevents you from doing manual labor.

3. Your past work experience is an important factor. As noted above, a past history of only manual labor can make your case for disability much easier.

4. Conversely, a past history of only clerical work may mean you can easily return to that type of work despite your heart attack. This is so because clerical work is usual considred very light work.

5. The skill level of your past work is also important. As a general rule the more skills you possess the more difficult it is going to be to obtain disability benefits. This is so because a skilled worker can transfer his / her skills to many different occupations many of which may be light enough to do even after a heart attack.

6. When it comes to a heart ailment, an opinion from a cardiologist regarding one 's functional abilities can be decisive in a disability case. But a simple statement that one is "disabled" is not enough. It is better if the physician prepares a comprehensive statement describing how one's abilities to lift, walk, sit, etc. are compromised by the patient's heart attack. In my cases I almost always have a Cardiac Functional Evaluation completed by the treating cardiologist or if one is not available then the claimant's primary treating physician will have to do the report.

7. The heart impairment listings are found at §4.01 of Social Security's Listing of Impairments. If a cardiologist says your impairment meets or equals one of these listings then your case for disability will be very strong.

8. An important measure of your remaining functional ability is a stress test. A cardiologist can measure your remaining functional capacity with this test. However, if your heart is too weak to take such a test then a cardiologist can also note this for you.

If you are denied on your initial application, you should consult an attorney who specializes in Social Security Disability. You can review my other article on "How to Find the Best Virginia Social Disability Lawyer" for some tips on finding an experienced Social Security Disability attorney.

Heartburn and Heart Disease

Although heartburn and heart disease are not related, many of the symptoms of heartburn are similar to those experienced during a heart attack. Severe heartburn that does not respond to over the counter heartburn medicines is cause for concern for many reasons.

Chest pain is one of the major symptoms of a heart attack. While heartburn and heart disease are not related, many people feel burning in the center of their chest during heartburn. Most people have heartburn occasionally. If your heartburn seems worse than usual or if you feel pain in your chest that you would describe as squeezing or crushing, it is always best to err on the side of caution. An unnecessary visit to the emergency room is better than delaying.

Other symptoms of heart attack that are not typically associated with heartburn include shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting and sweating. If you have these symptoms, you should seek medical attention immediately. Chronic heartburn that does not respond to over the counter heartburn medicines should be evaluated by your physician. Although there is no link between heartburn and heart disease, chronic heartburn can be a symptom of a more serious condition and heartburn that is untreated can lead to more serious conditions involving the esophagus.

One of the major differences between heartburn and heart disease is that even though it is called heartburn, it has nothing to do with your heart. Heartburn occurs when stomach acid that is normally confined to the stomach by muscles in the esophagus flows back up into the esophagus. You may feel the burning sensation in your stomach, the center of your chest or the back of your throat. Most over the counter heartburn medicines are designed for occasional use and should relieve the burning sensation. Over the counter heartburn medicines neutralize the acid.

Heartburn is commonly accompanied by indigestion or gas and over the counter heartburn medicines are designed to relieve discomfort associated with bloating or gas, as well as indigestion and heartburn. Most prescription heartburn medicines are designed to prevent heartburn and are taken on a daily basis for a month or longer depending on the individual. Over the counter heartburn medicines have few side effects, but whenever you take any product you should read the label carefully, be aware of possible allergic reactions or drug interactions. Prescription heartburn medicines have many side effects, as most drugs do, and should not be used by persons with certain other medical conditions. Your doctor, your pharmacist and the package insert will all help you decide if a prescription heartburn medicine is right for you and if so, which one. There are several.

Even though heartburn and heart disease are unrelated, there are certain heart medications that may increase your risk of heartburn problems. Always remember to advise your doctor about any medications that you are taking.

Tuberculosis, Part 1: A Brief Overview of Pulmonary Tuberculosis

What is tuberculosis?

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that is spread by a germ called mycobacterium tuberculosis. This germ once ingested or inhaled by the human body can infect various parts of the body causing severe harm. The most common area of the body that TB affects is the lungs. This is known as pulmonary tuberculosis.

How is pulmonary tuberculosis contracted?

TB is contracted when someone who has TB and is not receiving the proper treatment coughs sneezes or spits into the air. This releases the germ into the air thus making it possible for someone else to inhale it. Therefore TB spreads easily in poor, overcrowded areas.

Who can get pulmonary tuberculosis?

TB does not discriminate as anyone can get it. However people who have poor immune systems: do not eat healthy foods, people who consume excessive amounts of alcohol, people who smoke, people who have HIV or AIDS.

What are the symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis?

• Coughing for more than two weeks

• Coughing up blood

• Loss of appetite

• Lethargy

• Night sweats

• Breathlessness

• Weight loss

• Chest pains

• Fever

How is pulmonary tuberculosis diagnosed?

There are three common ways in which TB can be diagnosed:

• The sputum test involves coughing up ones mucous (sputum) into two separate jars. This is then sent to a

laboratory. Where it will be analysed for the TB bacteria.

• The skin test is also known as the mantoux test. This test involves having a minute amount of purified TB

bacteria injected under the skin. If a red swelling occurs after 2-3 days then that is a positive sign for TB

• Chest x-rays are done to see whether the lungs have any hardening or scarring present.

How is pulmonary tuberculosis treated?

A course of TB medication must be taken once every day for 6 months. This course of medication is only taken by individuals who have contracted the disease for the first time. If the course of TB medication is not completed then it is highly likely that the individual will contracted TB again. However instead of a 6 month course of TB medication the individual will have to have to take TB medication for 8 months or longer.

What are there any side-effects of the TB medication?

• Loss of appetite

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Joint pain

• Pink urine

• Skin rashes

These side-effects are not experience by every individual taking TB medication. But if these side-effects are experienced most can be effectively treated.

Pulmonary tuberculosis is a treatable disease if caught early. It does not discriminate, thus anyone, especially individuals with compromised immune systems should adopt healthy lifestyles to protect themselves against TB infection.

Achieving Existence, Relatedness and Growth in the Workplace

Renowned American psychologist, Clayton Alderfer, first proposed the ERG Theory for motivation in 1969, with a paper entitled “An Empirical Test of a New Theory of Human Need”. Before the Clayton Theory, the world of management solely relied on the famous Hierarchy of Needs developed my Abraham Maslow.

According to Maslow, psychological needs came at the bottom on the hierarchy, followed by safety needs, the need of belonging, self-esteem and finally the need of self-actualization at the very top of the hierarchy. Maslow elucidated that every human being has an intrinsic requirement for these five needs, but lower level needs to be fulfilled first in order to move further up the hierarchy.

In response and reaction to the Maslow’s famous and much debated Hierarchy of Needs, Clayton Alderfer created the ERG theory of motivation. He further expounded on Maslow’s Hierarchy in his book “Existence, Relatedness and Growth; Human Needs in an Organizational Setting.”

Unlike Maslow’s hierarchy, Clayton Alderfer proposed that the intrinsic human requirements for motivation can be reduced to only three levels, and these can be met simultaneously, rather than a step-by-step process that the hierarchy requires. The three elements introduced in the

ERG theory is as follows:

Existence refers to the basic material requirements of food, clothing and shelter needed to satisfy ones psychological and safety needs.

Relatedness refers to the need of each person belong and build healthy interpersonal relationships is a work setting

Growth relates to a person’s need for personal development in a professional setting. The need to be productive, creative, efficient and to feel a sense of personal achievement through one’s work.

The ERG theory states that all three needs should be met simultaneously in an ideal workplace setting. Satisfying one need at a time, as proposed by the Maslow theory, may cause dissatisfaction among employees. Humans are complex psychological beings with several innate requiring simultaneous fulfillment and balance. Managers should recognize this in order to maintain motivation and satisfaction in the workforce.

Clayton Alderfer also developed the frustration-regression principle to go along with his ERG Model, explaining in a simple principle the problems of the workplace where the ERG theory is unbalanced. Alderfer expounded through his principle that if two of the three needs are met and yet one remains unfulfilled, it’ll cause frustration among the workers and affect the other two requirements.

For instance, if the work force’s existence and relatedness needs are met, but opportunities are not provided for their growth and personal development, employees will begin to depend heavily on relatedness. This could result in a workplace setting where employees engage in heavy gossip, speculation and undesirable personal relationships. The moment one need takes dominance over the others; the ERG Model begins to breakdown and the quality of the professional setting decays.

Real Leadership skills require recognition of these intrinsic human needs and a genuine effort towards fulfilling them all simultaneously. Management experts firmly believe that when managers at a workplace find themselves in difficulty to satisfactorily meet all three requirements, the best thing to do is to remain honest and communicate their employees. Human’s are understanding and flexible and as long as the manager maintains an environment that encourages communication and honesty and avoids frustration. In this type employment environment, the ERG Model will thrive.

Causes of Bloody Stools in Dogs

There are two causes of bloody stools in dogs. Melena is the blood that a dog has digested. It appears as a dark color. Hematochezia is thought to be fresh blood appearing in the stool. This is a more minor issue than melena. To diagnosis the true cause of a bloody stool in your dog, a veterinarian visit is necessary.

When you notice blood in the stool of your dog, you may also notice your dog lacking energy and experiencing instances of incontinence. Restricting food will stop the diarrhea and help the intestines heal. Parasitic infestation will be obvious because the diarrhea will not stop until the right medical treatment is given.

Other causes of bloody stools in dogs include infections, medications, foreign objects swallowed by the dog, and cancer. Hemorrhagic gastro enteritis is a metabolic disorder that can produce bloody stools in your dog. All of these, along with ingesting blood of heavy metal material, will bring about melena. When your dog is presenting bloody stools, also check for pale gums, lack of appetite, weight loss, and frequent thirst and urination. Get your dog to the vet as soon as possible as there are other problems that can be present.

Diarrhea that continues for more than 24 hours needs to be treated medically. First, you can try feeding a bland diet of potato and rice. It may help, but if not, call your vet.

Your vet will conduct such tests as urinalysis, stool sample diagnosis, biochemical work up, ultrasound, X-rays, and blood tests. These are the tests needed to properly diagnose the reason for the bloody stools in your dog. Treatment will depend on the problem.

Some dogs can be treated at home if their condition is not severe. Particularly ill dogs will need to be kept overnight at the animal clinic. Once you have your dog back at home, you’ll most likely have dietary instructions from the vet. You need to follow these to the letter, as well as properly administer any medication your dog may have been prescribed. If there’s no improvement, call your vet for further guidance. In the meantime, provide a calm environment for your dog and make sure he gets plenty of rest to help heal.

Pneumonia, A General Look Over its Symptoms and Treatment

Parasites and bacteria can cause many types of infections in the body. If this infection is located in the lungs, then the disease is called pneumonia, and if it's left untreated, it can become pretty serious.

When bacteria and viruses enter the lungs, they cause an inflammation first. This is not a serious problem, but if the person infected happens to have a weak defense system then this simple infection triggers pneumonia, which is an illnes that must not be ignored.

In the early 1900's pneumonia was the disease with the biggest number of victims in the United States, but then antibiotics were discovered and most of the problem was solved.

There are two main types of pneumonia: lobar pneumonia and bronchial pneumonia. Lobar pneumonia only affects one lung, and bronchial pneumonia affects them both. Fortunately, since the discovery of antibiotics, what once used to be a severe, death-causing illness, now can be treated at home. If you follow the treatment and take your medication the disease will be cured in one or two weeks, depending on the patient.

The first pneumonia symptom is coughing and fever. A few days after later, a greenish liquid is eliminated when you cough, and the fever gets worse. Then pain in the chest starts to be felt, and when the illness advances the patients start to cough blood, loose appetite, vomit, and their skin gets a blue color. These symptoms are not the same in all patients, they may vary from one person to another, and they also depend on what caused the pneumonia.

If you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above then you should immediately visit a doctor. If the symptoms indicate pneumonia then the doctor also makes an x-ray on the patient and sometimes some blood tests. If the diagnose is pneumonia, then the antibiotic treatment starts.

The treatment is easy, and in most cases it can be done at home, but if the disease advanced too much before the diagnose then the patient has to stay in the hospital for a while. The doctor first performs a test to determine whether you are allergic to certain antibiotics or not, and then based on the results of this test the best antibiotics are administered.

You may get the pneumonia virus or bacteria from school or work, so preventing it is not too easy. But fortunately this illness is not what it used to be and it can now be easily cured.

Diabetes: Information you Need to Know

Diabetes has become one of the biggest cash cows of the Medical industry; reaping in a staggering 10 million plus dollars a day. It is no wonder that there are so many ads on television with famous actors and musicians telling you that you can get your diabetes supplies delivered free to your home. But what those ads are not telling you is that there is a proven diabetes cure for over 95% of type 2 diabetes and 65% for type 1 diabetes. They do not want you to know that, and in fact, the pharmaceutical industry is at this very moment trying to get one of the ingredients of this known cure off the shelves and behind the counter.

Diabetes affects over 18 million people, another 15 million may not yet be diagnosed, and that is in the United States alone! Currently diabetes is the 3rd leading cause of death in America. The cause of diabetes is that the body does not produce, or properly use, the insulin necessary for the body to absorb glucose (sugar). This glucose then accumulates in the bloodstream until levels get dangerously high. This condition then leads to diabetes symptoms such as: lack of energy, unusual weight gain, restless sleep, blurred vision, and tingling sensations in the affected individual.

The reason so many individuals may have diabetes symptoms and are not diagnosed, is because one symptom of diabetes is a feeling of nausea. This is most likely because we all seem to be working harder and longer than ever before in an attempt to avoid falling behind in our daily routine. Therefore, feelings of fatigue and tiredness are usually associated with the price of living in the 21st century. Another symptom of diabetes is the need to urinate more frequently and usually goes unnoticed. The fact is, however, that all of these can point to the onset of diabetes.

If you, or some one you hold dear, has been diagnosed with diabetes then you have probably noticed that recently in magazines, books, on TV and the internet, there has been much talk about a possible natural cure for diabetes. The fact is, a Canadian University has been researching, for more than 20 years, a combination of herbs that have consistently been shown to provide lasting relief from diabetes, type one and type 2. This same combination has been heralded as a “Final Cure for Diabetes” by the Asian Diabetic Association. This natural diabetes cure has also been proven by several independent clinical studies to regulate blood sugar, and consequently in most cases, eliminate the need for costly and painful testing and injections.

This combination of vitamins and herbs for diabetes treatment, work three ways in the body to affect a diabetes cure. First they reduce blood sugar levels by blocking glucose absorption in the intestine and thus prevent adrenal hormones from stimulating the liver to produce glucose. Second, they eliminate insulin resistance by repairing cell receptors to better recognize insulin. Cells are then much more effective at metabolizing glucose which further normalizes blood sugar levels. Thirdly, they normalize insulin production, this stimulates increased production of an organic compound that is naturally produced by the body. For those who suffer from “type 2 diabetes”, this organic compound is converted to insulin, normalizing and relieving stress on the pancreas, which allows it to heal. For those suffering from “type 1 diabetes,” the aforementioned conversion is not possible due to destroyed beta cells. But nevertheless, this organic compound remains in the body and functions like insulin as a natural replacement.

The vitamin and herb treatment for diabetes that has shown the best results in clinical tests consist of: Zinc, Chromium, Biotin, Banaba, Bitter Melon, Cinnamon, Gymnema Sylvestre, and Huckleberry. Each of these ingredients offer there own healing abilities, but in combination, they have been proven to work miracles in healing the body of the imbalances created when someone has reached a diagnosis of diabetes. In addition, several of these vitamins and herbs have been shown to correct other illnesses in the body such as hypertension or high blood pressure.

In conclusion, it must be remembered that simply ingesting a random amount of these vitamins and herbs for diabetes treatment won’t necessarily provide the optimum healing qualities that are required to affect a diabetes cure. Visit GreatNewsHealth.com to learn more about a safe and natural combination of vitamins and herbs for diabetes treatment. Take your health into your own hands; you will not regret it.

How to Treat Pleurisy Holistically

Pleurisy sounds a pretty scary sort of disease to have, and not one most health professional would advocate you try to treat with home prescribing. But things always start off small, and if you can nip it in the bud at the early stages, chances are it will never develop into anything serious.

Even if you have a past history of pleurisy and you know the telling signs of another bout, before you rush off to get your normal treatment, it might be worth asking yourself this. Are they getting more or less regular? Are they getting less or more intense?

If you are getting more intense bouts, and they are coming more frequently, then ask yourself another question. Are you going towards cure or away from it? If they are getting worse or more intense, then maybe your current treatment is not doing you a lot of good.

Both the wet and the dry type of pleurisy can respond very well to the homeopathic medicine Bryonia, if your unique and personal symptoms include the following:

  • the pain is worse for the slightest movement, even a cough
  • the pain improves with pressure, such as lying on the affected side
  • you have a large thirst at infrequent intervals
  • you are averse to being disturbed, preferring to be alone and quiet

If you can see your symptoms in this symptom picture, then Bryonia is probably going to be a very effective medicine for you.

Homeopathy works by improving your immune system to the extent where you can cure you. So it's worth taking heed that you have pleurisy in the first place, because your immune system is compromised.

This is quite normal in today's world, when people are not encouraged to follow their own intuition or feeling. Where everyone gives their power away to someone who has less interest in your health than in the fees they can make from you.

Obesity, Diabetes, Heart Disease, High Cholesterol, And High Blood Pressure: Can They Really be Prevented, Managed or Reversed?

They are the biggest killers in America: Diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and heart disease. The most common causes of these deadly conditions are: Physical inactivity, fattening snacks and beverages, obesity, stress, and smoking. The shocking news is that these diseases are so easily preventable.

A frequent cause of blame is the unhealthy food choices people make regularly. It’s okay to splurge once in a while, but it is the habits you follow daily that will determine your overall health. Constantly consuming chips, bacon, cakes, sugary drinks, candy, sausage, and cigarettes will get you nothing but poor health, deadly diseases, and a ticket straight to heaven prematurely.

According to the CDC over 63% (that’s over 180 million) of the US population is overweight or obese and is physically inactive, resulting in tens of millions who have chronic deadly, but preventable, conditions such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and pre-diabetes. Recently the CDC reported that more than 70% (over 1.7 million) of all causes of death in America are caused by only three preventable factors: obesity, sedentary lifestyles, and smoking. The very fact that these factors are easily preventable is heartbreaking.

One of the major contributors to poor health is the excessive consumption of cholesterol. The body produces over 85% of the cholesterol we need and the sugar stores in our liver and muscles remain saturated due to physical inactivity. Because we are largely a couch-potato society and the food we consume every day is loaded with animal-based fats, the extra fat gets dumped into our arteries, belly areas, and under the skin all over our bodies.

Another major contributor to deadly diseases, poor health, and premature aging and death is physical inactivity. Most of us sit throughout an entire workday then go home and sit in front of the TV for another 5 to 6 hours while consuming large fatty meals, snacks, and sugary or alcoholic beverages that are rich in saturated fats, salt, and sugar, all of which contribute to increased belly fat. Shockingly, belly fat is the most dangerous kind because it causes inflammation in the arteries contributing to plaque build up in the arteries and insulin resistance leading to heart attacks and diabetes.

Yet another common issue is that people are unaware of how unhealthy the foods they consume are. When people don’t read nutrition labels they tend to consume very dense food and sugary beverages that are nutrient deficient. These foods are readily available in fast food restaurants and vending machines and contain loads of sugar, fat, and unwanted calories. Sugary soft drinks (which alone contribute to over 33% of all US obesity), sugary lemonade, sweetened iced tea, smoothies, lattes, and frappucinos, which contain loads of sugar and fat that further contribute to the accumulation of belly fat, make you more of a magnet to all sorts of deadly, but preventable, diseases. One of the worst mistakes people make as well is skipping meals which makes the body more efficient at storing and gaining fat weight.

Fortunately there are important steps to help you make balanced food and activity choices and help you start a lifestyle makeover process which will be your shield against deadly diseases as you age gracefully:

• If you have any chronic disease(s) take your medications as prescribed.

• Eat 3 main balanced meals, reduce your portion sizes, and raise your fiber intake.

• Consume 2 fruit and nuts snacks between meals.

• Switch all sugary drinks to water or diet soft drinks. Sweeten all other hot or cold beverages with artificial sweeteners or sugar-free flavoring powders. Limit all non-water beverages to a couple a day.

• Increase your daily walking activity to over 10,000 steps a day by making more frequent trips at home, the office, while shopping, and anywhere else.

The good news is that diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic diseases can be prevented, managed, and reversed with your own choices, actions and a lifestyle makeover. Now is the time to start putting these tips to good use and begin feeling better and living healthier right away!

Is Bronchitis Contagious?

Yes and no. It is not a trick question or answer. The real answer is – it depends. Bronchitis is divided into two very different categories. First is acute bronchitis which is what most think of when they hear the word bronchitis. This type of bronchitis is caused by a viral infection called influenza and is highly contagious. It is easily spread by coughing, sneezing, and even simply breathing. The infection is caused by air borne germs. There is truly no way to protect yourself from the germs that are spread around by someone with the virus.

Unfortunately, viral infections can not be treated by traditional antibiotics. The person carrying the virus is contagious for as long as they are showing any symptoms of bronchitis. This includes the well known hacking cough commonly associated with bronchitis. These symptoms can also include a wet mucous discharge from the cough, fever, headache, and fatigue.

If a person has acute bronchitis and it continues for longer than a week medical advice is called for. There maybe another underlying cause of the bronchitis that only a doctor will be able to find. Similarly, if you have bronchitis more often than once a year, you should seek medical advice. In most all cases bronchitis is caused by viruses; however, in some cases there may be a bacterial infection which will only be able to be treated properly by antibiotics. It has been proven that antibiotics that are over prescribed for viral infections may actually create other infections such as yeast infections. Only a doctor will be able to tell if it is bacterial or viral.

The second type of bronchitis is called chronic bronchitis. This form of bronchitis is not contagious. It has almost identical symptoms including the common cough and wheezing found in acute bronchitis. However, it is cause by a very different group of sources. Smoking, second hand smoke, or other air borne allergies are the culprits that cause the chronic bronchitis. Many times this form of bronchitis is the first sign of more serious respiratory conditions. Like the acute form, antibiotics will have no effect on this form of bronchitis.

Regardless of the type of bronchitis that you have, any cough lasting more than one week is reason to seek professional medical advice. An ounce of prevention can be priceless. If you are in a public environment where many people have access to it, avoid contact with anyone who has a hacking cough. Wash your hands frequently with an antibacterial soap. Disinfect items that may have had direct contact with anyone who has displayed a hacking cough. If someone in you home as a hacking cough, be sure to disinfect door handles, the bathrooms and use a disinfectant air spray to remove and kill any airborne viral infections floating around.

Yeast Infection Rashes – How to Quickly Spot and Treat Yeast Infection Rashes

Yeast infection rashes are not only horrible to look at but are very uncomfortable as well as they are often accompanied by itching. However, it is surprising how many people don’t recognize a rash that has been caused by a yeast infection and just ignore it. So, given that many other natural things cause rashes (such as heat) – how can you easily diagnose one?

How to diagnose yeast infection rashes

Firstly, the most commonly affected area for these rashes are the genitals and surrounding area. Now, heat rashes also commonly affect these areas as they get very hot and sweaty sometimes, but you can tell the two apart quite easily. A heat rash will usually affect the surrounding skin and in the areas where underwear has been rubbing the skin.

A yeast infection rash will usually appear as small red bumps or a small red patch on the tip of the penis in men and on or just inside the vagina in women.

The other important factor that can help you diagnose it, is the fact that a yeast infection rash will usually be much more itchy and sensitive than that of a heat rash.

How do I cure the infection and get rid of it?

When it comes to yeast infection rashes, you are best off forgetting about over the counter medications and drugs. Why? because these just fight the symptoms of the infection and don’t actually do much to clear it up and cure it. I suppose it succeeds in keeping the pharmaceutical companies rich as you keep buying more whenever your yeast infection flares up again!

But this is not necessary, as you can easily cure the root cause of your yeast infection the first time around and stop it from coming back. Plus, all of this can be done naturally and without any expensive drugs.

Good news my friend, there is a fantastic all-natural yeast infection cure on the market that is fairly cheap and will actually cure your yeast infection in just 12 hours straight, how amazing is that! Plus, it also gets right to work at reliving the symptoms of yeast infection rashes almost straight away whilst it is curing the infection.

Orthopedic Hip Replacement Brace

Have you recently had a surgery on your hip? Have you ever had a hip replacement, labral tear or hip dislocation?

1.) Introduction

There are many hip problems that can leave people not only in pain, but immobilized as a result. Injury to the hip is a common occurrence and the need for a hip brace (orthosis) can help to secure a patient’s hip who has injured themselves. One of the ways people help to keep their hip safe after a surgery is to use a hip abduction brace. This is a support that helps to limit excessive or unwanted movements after a surgery. In this fashion it helps to facilitate the healing process.

2.) Indications for a Hip Brace

A.) Hip Replacement Surgery

B.) Hip Dislocations – Posterior or Anterior

C.) Labral Tears

3.) The Purpose of Hip Braces

Restricting unwanted movements after a hip injury can be a key component to the healing process. For example, your surgeon may have done a procedure that has either fixed a labral tear or maybe you have undergone a hip replacement surgery. Either way, certain movements can help to ruin the surgery. These movements are adduction (moving your hip toward midline) or excessive hip flexion. The brace will help to hold the hip so it does not pop out of place.

You may think to yourself, “I do not need a brace, I will just be careful”. The problem with this theory is that all it takes is for you to make one movement the wrong way and the surgery can go bad. Unfortunate but true. You may be walking along as you have partially healed, noticing that no pain exists in your hip. Many patients make the mistake that since there is no pain that everything is totally healed internally. As a result of little to no pain, a person may try to make a certain movement (like adduction or excessive flexion) that was once more normal for you. – This is where the use of a brace comes in. The brace, when provided by a professional and applied correctly can help to stop those unwanted movements, while you are still in the healing process. This in turn will help to facilitate the healing process for you and keep you more safe from accidents that can happen.

*Note: This is health information. Although it is good information, medical advice on bracing should be provided to you by your local, licensed orthotist.

2 Carat Diamond Earrings – 7 Tips to Get the Best Value For Your Money

Every woman craves the largest diamond, and when it comes to earrings a pair of 2 carat diamond studs has become the standard for luxury. This article contains 7 valuable tips on how to buy the most beautiful, brilliant diamond earrings for the lowest price.

Tip #1: What should a pair of 2 carat diamond studs cost? If you make a smart buy, you should be able to get a pair of beautiful 2 carat earrings for about $4,200. Of course, you can pay less. A Poor Cut, K Color, I-3 Clarity pair of studs can be had for about $1600. These earrings will have a milky grey-yellow appearance with fractures and some obvious dark crystals. You can also pay more, for example a pair of Ideal Cut, D Color, VVS Clarity earrings will set you back about $48,000. These will be a dazzling pair of earrings that can only be truly appreciated under a 30-power microscope.

Tip #2: Diamonds on the Ear are More Forgiving than a Diamond on the Hand: there is always a balance to be considered between diamond quality and cost. A solitaire diamond ring on the hand is usually viewed from a distance of about 2 feet in full daylight. On the other hand, a pair of 2 carat diamond stud earrings are often partially covered by locks of hair and viewed from 3 or 4 feet away. Minute flaws like white crystals and fine white needles are not likely to detract from the beauty of diamonds worn on the ear. Also, because of the skin and hair tones surrounding diamonds worn on the ear, a single drop in color grade will be most difficult to detect.

Tip #3: Don’t be a Slave of the GIA Grading Scale: first, you should buy diamonds that are certified from a reputable gem lab such as GIA, IGI, EGL or IGL. Second, you should be aware that the GIA Grading Scale rates diamonds based on their rarity, and not necessarily on their beauty and brilliance. In other words, it is possible to pay a higher price for an ugly pair of diamonds if you use the GIA scale alone as a guide for your purchase. The most common mistake is to buy a Poor or Fair Cut grade with a high Color and Clarity grade. For example, a pair of D Color, VVS Clarity diamonds with a Poor Cut Grade will cost you about $26,000. These diamonds will be milky and dull in appearance because the Cut Grade allows very little light to return to the eye of the viewer.

Tip #4: The Cut Quality is what makes a Diamond Beautiful and Brilliant: an Excellent Cut diamond will return about 4 times the white light to the eye of the viewer. Today, most rough crystals are cut for the greatest yield without regard for the proper angles to return a shower of white light to the viewer’s eye. It is estimated that about 90% of the diamonds on the retail market today are graded Poor, and Fair Cuts. In the trade, these diamonds are called Swindled Cuts, and they lack the beautiful white light, fire and scintillation of an Excellent Cut Diamond.

Tip #5: How to Choose a Lower Diamond Clarity Grade without sacrificing Brilliance: the most important fact about diamond Clarity is that every grade including SI and above is considered “eye-clean”. This means that unless your friends have a magnifying glass handy, any grade SI and above contains inclusions that are not visible to the naked eye. When shopping for your 2 carat diamond earrings, consider this: a pair of G-H Color VVSI Clarity diamonds will cost you about $15,000. The same diamonds in SI Clarity will cost you about $7,000. The difference in price is for a finer clarity grade that can not be discerned with the naked eye.

Tip #6: How to Balance Diamond Color against Cost: the difference between Colorless diamonds (D-E-F) and Near Colorless diamonds (G-H-I) is actually very minute. A gemologist grades diamonds for body color loose and in the inverted position against a master set, because it is so difficult to see the difference. When a well cut diamond is set face-up you are viewing mainly the refraction and return of light through the table, which is more the Cut and less the body Color of the stone. This is all the more true when diamonds are worn on the ear, because the ambient skin and hair tones surrounding them also affects the perception of Color. A G-H Color for your diamond earrings is a wise balance of lower cost for a minute difference in quality. An I Color may refract a very slight yellow cast, but most people will not perceive the difference. On the other hand, a J-K Color stone will refract a noticeable yellow cast. However, the Color does not affect the brilliance of the diamond. If you like a warm diamond tone, you can save a considerable amount of money on your 2 carat earring purchase by choosing the lower color qualities on the GIA scale.

Tip #7: Choose the Right Diamond Stud Settings for a Better Fit: a pair of 2 carat studs are heavy enough to droop on a the ear lobe, which of course ruins their elegance. The secret is to choose a setting style that allows the earrings to fit straight and forward. The three most common types of diamond earring settings are a crown setting, a basket setting and a 3-prong martini setting. Don’t buy a crown setting because it places the diamond too far forward and these will droop on your ears. Basket settings are the most common, and they can be set low or high. If you choose a basket setting, look at it from the side and make sure that the bottom tip of the diamond (the culet) rests as close to the ear as possible. Finally, the 3-prong martini style is a superior setting for earrings because the diamond rests closer to the ear lobe. In a martini setting, the center of gravity is as far backward as possible, so your diamonds will rest straight and forward on the ear. Also, if you have very soft ear lobes order a disk back to secure a larger area behind the ear.

Cold Sores are Extremely Contagious

Cold sore is characterized as an annoying, small and painful red blister that usually shows up on or around the lips and mouth area and is usually caused by the herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1), which lives inside nerve tissue. Despite their name, cold sore has nothing to do with cold. Cold sore also commonly called as fever blister. Outbreaks are most regularly trigger by large amounts of stress.

Cold sore, as many viruses, is extremely contagious. The infection can be easily spread by skin to skin contact, as well as on personal items such as eating utensil, drinking cup, towel or anything the infected person has touched. It sometimes can also be triggered by exposure to the sun and can also be spread to other areas of the body.

Cold sore usually clears up without any treatment within a week to 10 days. Creams are available over-the-counter (OTC) to help relieve the symptoms of cold sore. Cold sore is most infectious when the blisters are newly formed, that is for the first 1 or 2 days of an outbreak. This is the best time to swab a cold sore if laboratory confirmation of the diagnosis is required.

It usually appears when you are sick or stressed. The virus lies latent (dormant) in the body and will become active when trigger by certain factors such as stress, sunburn, sickness, lack of sleep and etc.

It is most contagious when they burst but they remain contagious until they are fully healed. Ice helps in relieving the pain and restricts the herpes simplex virus from spreading. Ice treatment should be commenced when the itching begins.
