Severe Anxiety and Phobia in Children – How to Know If a Child Needs Help

Anxiety is one of the most prevalent problems of childhood and adolescence, but the least likely problem to be treated. Common effects of severe anxiety or fears include interference with family relationships, school performance and friendships as well as significant personal distress.

Avoidance is a Key Sign of Severe Anxiety

It is not always obvious that a child’s difficulties are a result of extreme anxiety or fear. Avoidance is the most common outward sign that there may be a problem. Children and adolescents will actively try to avoid encountering anxiety or fear inducing events or objects.

Some parents, and even some health professionals, believe that children will eventually outgrow their problems with severe fears and anxiety. Research clearly shows us that this is not the case. Left untreated, children who suffer from severe anxiety and fears are at greater risk for additional emotional and behavioral problems such as depression and substance abuse.

How do you know whether a child is suffering from severe anxiety or fear?

Examples of interference or impairment in a school setting:

What you may see or hear

What may be happening

Child’s school work is deteriorating because the child is so distracted from worrying

Child has high rate of absenteeism

Due to separation anxiety disorder, e.g., the child worried about being away from mom

Child’s grades are dropping off because child does not participate and does poorly on tests

Due to interfering social evaluative fears, e.g., the child worried about what others think

Child making frequent visits to school nurse and is frequently picked up early by mom

Due to panic disorder, e.g., the child who feels like she needs to vomit every day

Anxiety – A Quick Self-Diagnosis

It is quite normal to have some stress and anxiety in everyday life. But people worry about different things and to different extents.

Having some anxiety does not necessarily mean that you have a problem. That said, if your anxiety level is producing uncomfortable feelings that are affecting your physical and/or emotional wellbeing, diagnosis and treatment should be sought.

Symptoms of Anxiety: A Quick Self-Diagnosis

Excessive Worry:

Do you feel that you worry too much? Do things affect you more than they do others? Is your level of worry rational or irrational?

Hyperventilation:

Do you often find yourself breathing faster or deeper than necessary, bringing about lightheadedness and other undesirable symptoms?

Nervousness:

Are you able to handle social and work situations comfortably, without worry?

Dizziness:

Do you often feel dizzy or unbalanced?

Headaches:

Do you suffer from regular headaches, particularly of the stress or tension types?

Tiredness and fatigue:

Is your sleep not leaving you feeling refreshed? Do you often feel tired and suffer from fatigue? Do you have problems getting to sleep or staying asleep?

Toilet Habits:

Do you regularly have diarrhea without good reason?

Do you make frequent visits to the toilet for waterworks?

Other Symptoms:

Are you “Jumpy”? Do you find it hard to relax? Are you easily startled?

Do you often feel shaky? or have hot flushes?

IF YOU FIND YOU ARE ABLE TO RELATE TO 2 OR MORE OF THESE SYMPTOMS YOU ARE PROBABLY SUFFERING FROM ANXIETY

You may also have any of a multitude of less common symptoms. In many cases, anxiety sufferers also have other problems such as depression, other anxiety illnesses (obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, or social anxiety disorder) and these difficulties can lead to alcohol or drug misuse.

If you are certain that you have anxiety, now is the time to act and do something about it.

Effects Of Insomnia

To understand the effects of insomnia or lack of adequate quality sleep, it is imperative to understand sleep. It is a very complicated process involving body and brain. During sleep the body tissues are repaired and the organism, in a sense, rejuvenated. The brain receives a lot of input during the day and it processes, sorts out, rejects and records data during sleep. For this to be effective, an average person needs about 8 hours of sleep, quite variable in individuals. The depth of sleep is divided into four stages plus rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. The REM sleep is very important, because during this sleep, the brain processes are completed. The bodily processes are successful during the sleep depth stages of 3 and 4 (delta sleep).

When this process is incomplete, the body and brain are not fully fit for the next day’s activity. The person feels very tired, fatigued, energy levels reduced and reflexes slowed. The sensitivity of the senses is blunted. Our mental functions like our ability to learn, remember and concentrate are affected by insomnia. The performance level in the workplace drops. The mind becomes sluggish and looses concentration. Lack of attention, dizzy spells and mood changes are other effects during the daytime caused by sleepless nights. Some people become very irritable and flare up for no reason. It may sometimes lead to emotional problems and depression. In chronic cases, when suffering from severe insomnia and sleepless nights continue for long time, people can even experience hallucinations.

If you suffer from insomnia, driving and operating machinery are very dangerous. Families and workplace colleagues find it very difficult to cope with someone who has not had a good night’s sleep.

Insomnia though a symptom of some underlying disorder, becomes a cause of other physical and psychological illness when it is allowed to go on for a long time.

Ingrown Toenail Cure

In order for an ingrown toenail cure or treatment to be effective, you need to look for the cause. While some cases seem to be genetic, because of abnormally shaped nails or an overgrowth of skin around the toenails, most cases are caused by tight shoes, cutting the nails too short or rounding off the tip.

A few cases are caused by some type of trauma to the nail plate or toe. An injury can cause the nail to grow in an irregular shape, which can lead to in-growth. Disease is a cause in rare cases.

So, if you're like most people, the cause is ill fitting shoes or bad maintenance. There are many over-the-counter treatments that you can use. Some work better than others. But, unless you address the underlying cause, you are not likely to see results. And, if you do see results, you may see the condition return.

To judge the fit of your shoes, check to see how much "wiggle room" you have. If you normally wear shoes that taper off to a point like many styles of women's dress shoes and some types of men's boots, you are increasing your risk of nail problems.

Once you are sure that your shoes fit properly, you can try the most often recommended ingrown toenail cure, which is regular soaking in Epsom salts. The warm water and the salts reduce the swelling and relieve the pain.

The length of your toenails should extend just beyond the tips of your toes. If you are cutting them much shorter than that, then you have an increased risk that they will curl and cut into the skin.

Your toenails should be cut straight across, not curved to match the shape of the front of your toes. If you have your nails done by a pedicurist, be sure to request a straight, rather than a curved cut. If you have difficulty doing your own nails and you prefer not to visit a nail salon, you can visit a podiatrist for your regular trim.

Another recommended ingrown toenail cure is to put fresh bits of cotton under the edge that is growing in. You would do this after your daily soak and dry. Apply a topical antibiotic or antiseptic solution, before you insert the cotton. There are some natural ingredients that work particularly well and also help to relieve the pain.

Tea tree oil has long been recommended as a natural ingrown toenail cure. The oils of the tea tree have anti-microbial activity. They have been used to treat fungal and bacterial infections for thousands of years. Even the birds use the leaves to kill parasites in their feathers.

Even people that normally take great care of their health sometimes neglect their feet and toes. With proper care and maintenance, you can have pain-free feet and toes. They support your body. You need to support them.

There is no "instant" ingrown toenail cure, but there are effective treatments. Just remember to address the causes, too.

Effective Treatment For Depression Anxiety Symptoms

Help for depression and anxiety can seem like the relief of a lifetime. Nearly 17 million Americans each year are affected by a serious illness called depression which is often accompanied with anxiety. Depression and anxiety can affect anyone across all age groups and genders. The fact that you are suffering from these diseases does not mean that you are less a human being. The suffering associated with these diseases will only get worse without treatment so it is imperative that you seek out effective treatment for your depression anxiety symptoms as soon as possible.

Exercise For Depression Anxiety Symptoms

Recent studies indicate that exercise was effective for adults with anxiety and depressive disorders. According to the research journal, Psychosomatic Medicine, groups of men and women were split into two exercise groups (group and at-home exercisers), one drug group (receiving anti-depressant medication), and one placebo group (sugar pill that subjects think is medicine). The first 2 groups show more affirmative results when compared to the 2 latter groups.

Thus, you should exercise at least three times a week with half-an-hour per session to gain the benefits. Your endorphin levels will increase thus inducing a natural high and food always taste better after the sessions. And the good news is that there are no bad side effects when done in this moderated schedule. Take a jog, swim or anything that strikes your fancy and you feel relieved of depression symptoms right away and it will last throughout the day.

Get Enough Sleep

Sometimes, somatic causes of depression and anxiety may be addressed with enough rest or sleep. A restful sleep may be helpful in reducing if not eliminating depression and anxiety. Based on research, lack of sleep is equivalent to diminishing quantities of serotonin. Serotonin is a very important brain chemical, especially in the region of the brain that affect mood signals. The lack of serotonin in the brain results in irritability, mood swings and depression. So sleep at least seven hours a day. Enough sleep is sometimes all it takes to be well both in body and mind.

Natural Supplements For Depression Anxiety Symptoms

5 – HTP helps the brain to naturally produce more serotonin, which is the chemical in the brain that is usually lacking in the individual who suffers from depression and anxiety. It can also help with other symptoms of depression such as carbohydrate cravings, insomnia, and anxiety. SAM – e helps to increase serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. St John’s Wort is one of the most commonly used natural remedies for help for depression and anxiety used in the United States. It naturally helps to increase serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine levels as well. Though no serious negative results of taking 5-HTP have ever been reported, it should not be taken over a longer period. Some side effects may occur, such as nausea, diahrrea, constipation and headaches.

Natural Herbs for Depression Anxiety Symptoms

To get the best possible results, look for natural anti depression and anxiety medication with herbs like St. John’s Wort, passion flower, alumina, Siberian ginseng, ignatia amara, staphisagria, licorice, gingko, kali phos, and balm. All these herbs have therapeutic effects and are used extensively by naturopathy practitioners around the world to treat various types of mental disorders.

The herb St Johns Wort is used specifically for helping with mild to moderate depression and anxiety. It has a genuine mild anti-depressant and relaxation medicinal action and is considered a nerve tonic. Its action is gentle, yet very effective. Its combination of sedative activity and nervous system restorative properties make it an ideal herb for use in anxiety, irritability, neuralgia, nerve damage or injury, nervous tension, depression and general nervous system debility. Anyone taking St. John’s Wort needs to check in with their physician first before mixing it with other prescription medications in order to avoid possible complications.

Another domestic treatment for depression anxiety symptoms is a tea made of Indian basil (tulsi) and sage. Use 1/4 teaspoon tulsi and 1/2 teaspoon of sage per cup of hot water; drink twice a day.

A lack of essential minerals and vitamins can also be behind a depression and anxiety. Minerals such as zinc, magnesium and potassium ant the B-complex of vitamins can all have a mayor influence on the mood and general well-being. The patient should have a simple blood test first though to see if he is lacking any of these.

Treatment For Depression Anxiety Symptoms – Effective Mental Exercises

The key to dealing with depression and anxiety is learning how to effectively cope with the stressors, both internal and external that lead to them. This means that by learning proper time management, and through positive thinking as well as exercise to release stress, we can curb the physiological, psychological, and physical effects of anxiety and depression, if not thwart them completely. Only by believing you can gain control can you learn to truly be in control.

It is also important to take note of every thought that crosses the mind as part of effective treatment for depression anxiety symptoms. This requires a bit of mental and conscious effort, especially at the outset. However, it will be worth the stress. Taking stock of every thought that comes to mind enables you to thrash out necessary mental assignments and discard irrelevant thoughts instead of allowing them to clog the mind, causing anxiety, unnecessary worry and then depression.

Focus on what you are doing instead of worrying about what you are not doing. This often clears the mind and helps you to relax. If you subject your self to anger, you will most likely have difficulties for the remaining of your life until you learn to take control of your emotions. Please note that uncontrolled anger can be a sign of depressive illness.

Nail Fungus – Laser Treatment

Nail fungus has been reported in many of the ancient civilizations. The yellowing of the nails followed by brittle feel of the nail plates and later the disintegration into an ugly and tough but rugged nail was a concern for the high and might.

Though the cause of the rugged nails was not really known as being fungal infection, the treatments that were being used have remain to be effective to date. You can imagine some of the arguments that may have been presented by the wise men of Egypt or China. Must have been something like an unpleased god who would need the sacrifice of several cats!

Today you are lucky that you do not have to chance in life like they did. For conditions such as nail fungus, there is a specific potassium hydroxide test that can be administered to determine the presence of the fungal activity.

Nail fungus is caused by specific types of fungi. The most common are the candidas and dermatophyte. The presence of either of the fungi will be dependent on whether you are in the tropics or the temperate zone.

There are a host of remedies that have been used since time immemorial. This include the use of prescription medicine, over the counter medicines, herbal remedies and some homemade remedies such as vinegar.

Now comes the laser treatment. Laser simply means that the concentrated beam of light that has the ability to change the molecular structures. It works in eye surgery by correcting the eye lens and destroying the cataracts.

Laser is able destroy both the 'roots' of the nail fungus and also the cells membranes. It is also able to destroy the spore soft h any other fungi. By using the laser, one is able to irreversibly destroy the fungus growth.

In choosing the medical clinic or laboratory for the laser treatment, you need not pay for unnecessary costs. Any middle level hospital will be able to handle this treatment and therefore should not be very expensive. On average, one treatment session for a set of affected toenails would cost about $ 1,000.

The motivation for developing laser treatment of nail fungus is the resistance seen in the treatment of the fungus when using conventional medicines, both pills and cream. These other treatments have only been able to provide temporary treatment of relief.

Just like in all other treatments, the laser treatment is only sustainable with high hygiene standards being observed. Besides, the ultimate aim of health care is disease prevention. If you are really looking for complete cure from nail fungus, then you need to seek a laser treatment. It is the future treatment for most fungal infections.

Activities of Daily Living With Back Pain: Folding Clothes and Sweeping Floors

When I was teaching Back School, the two biggest housekeeping complaints were folding clothes and sweeping floors. In many cases, the complainant was a parent of young children. The first thing I tell these parents is that even very young children can be fold their own clothes, even their sheets and towels. Children as young as 4-years of age can do some simple folding tasks and can certainly help you fold clothes. Don’t worry, this is character building stuff.

The main lesson to learn about all activities of daily living is to pay attention to your back while you work. You should work only until your back starts to feel tense, then stop for a short period, and relax. It may be that you can spend very little time on each chore or a part of each chore, at least at first. That is okay. Say it to yourself, “It is okay for me to only work to my current limit. I am still a good person.” When you are able to relax completely, when you are relaxing and even when you are working, you will be amazed at how quickly you recover. Relaxation is key.

The biggest clothes folding bugaboo for most people with low back pain is folding sheets. My question to you is, do they really need to be expertly folded or do they just need to fit on that shelf in the linen closet?

Okay, the truth is you just need to be able to fit the sheets in the closet. This is what I suggest:

  1. Find a comfortable standing position.
  2. Stay relaxed.
  3. Grab the sheet, top or fitted bottom, at a corner and hold the sheet in front of you, close to your body, with the corner about nose high.
  4. Wrap your free arm around the sheet that is hanging in front of you just above waist high.
  5. Move the corner of the sheet down around the arm that is at your waist while you move that arm up, winding like the action of a fishing reel.
  6. Wind the sheet around your arms in this fashion until it is completely ‘folded.’

I know it isn’t pretty but it is done and it does fit in the closet. As your back improves, you can add folding sheets back in to your activities. For now, just close your eyes and stuff it in the closet.

Sweeping the Floor

You may be able to find shortcuts for folding clothes but sweeping floors is definitely something for which there really are no shortcuts. I wish I knew for sure what it was about sweeping floors that makes it so difficult. I am guessing that, because you are slightly bent over, it is difficult to maintain correct posture when you are sweeping not to mention the slight rotation that the motion requires while you are slightly bent over. All I do know for sure is that it does irritate an already sore back.

Fortunately, while it is irritating, it is not harmful. The secret to sweeping a floor is to stop and rest before you really start to feel your muscles tighten past the point of no return. Stop, even for a moment, and use some standing relaxation techniques.

But, hey, you are at home. You don’t have to stay standing. You can go sit down and read a bit or lie down on your bed for a moment and just chill out. Nobody is judging you and you are doing what you can to stay active and in the game.

Another possibility is to use one of those dusters that would allow you to use one hand while you push the duster around. It is easier to maintain your posture and you are not rotating your trunk while you do it. It is good to switch hands periodically while you are dusting the floor. Also, just because you have one hand free doesn’t mean you can sweep and pick up at the same time. This can lead to real trouble. Make this an exercise in restraint. You being good to you so that at the end of the day you have something left for those people you are doing the sweeping for, even if it is just yourself.

Dogs That Have Noise Phobias

Summer thunderstorms and celebratory fireworks are horrors for those unfortunate dogs that suffer from a noise phobia. Its a phobia that is more common than we think and can be helped by looking at natural remedies that have no side effects.

Anti-anxiety drugs such as Prozac and Buspar can work but take 3-4 weeks to take effect and also can have side effects. Looking at natural alternatives seems a better option. Tryptophan is found in complex Carbohydrates so by feeding your dog this kind of diet you will give him a natural boost. Tryptophan is in fact a precursor for Serotonin and Serotonin effects mood. When the dog eats carbohydrates this stimulates the production of insulin which in turn increases the uptake of Tryptophan and so increases the level of Serotonin. Although this method works in theory there is no hard evidence or statistics to back it up. One natural Remedy called flower essences such as Rescue Remedy was developed by an English medical Doctor Edward Bach. Each liquid is an extract of flowers which effect different aspects of emotional well-being in humans and animals. Of these Flower remedies Rescue Remedy is the best known and has a calming effect. The conclusion on how effective these remedies are varies. Some say it works immediately and others maintain that it takes four to eight weeks to have an effect on dog’s emotions. At the end of the day it will not do any harm to try it.

Another suggestion is the use of Melatonin. This is a natural hormone that regulates our sleep and wake pattern, called circadian rhythms. Studies have indicated that provided the Melatonin is given before the noise occurs it can be 80% effective. Another use for Melatonin has been with search and rescue dogs that have to travel on helicopters or planes to different areas .The Melatonin lets them relax throughout the flight and also the dogs are still be able to perform their search duties when they arrive. This was something that was affected when pharmaceutical drugs were used; The dogs found it hard to waken fully and so were not able to do their jobs 100%. As Melatonin was originally derived from the pineal gland of cows the process was expensive. The pharmaceutical Industry now produce it synthetically. Make sure if you decide to try this method that it is pure melatonin and not mixed with any other herbs.

Finally…if music is your thing then studies have also found that simple classical music performed on the piano produced a calming effect on 70 percent of dogs in shelters and 85 percent of dogs in homes. Before going down the route of the natural remedies trying a classical CD is worth a shot and may even save you the bother of trying anything esle.

Understanding Deep Tissue Injury

A deep tissue injury (DTI) is commonly mistaken for a stage 1 pressure ulcer or a bruise. This is a serious error and can have a profound impact on patient outcomes, liability, and reimbursement.

What is a deep tissue injury (DTI)?

Deeper, full-thickness damage to underlying tissue which may appear as purple areas or dark necrotic tissue should not be confused with Stage 1 pressure ulcers. The National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel has defined wounds such as these as;

A pressure-related injury to subcutaneous tissue under intact skin. Initially, these lesions have the appearance of a deep bruise (NPUAP, 2002).

DTI's require rapid identification, as they may quickly progress to Stage 3 and 4 pressure ulcers despite aggressive and optimal treatment.

How do DTI's form?

Fleck (2007) explains that DTI's form over areas of bony prominence and occur from the inside out. Superficial damage is not seen until later, when tissue undergoes necrosis, reaching the outer layer of skin and resulting in the formation of an external wound. She further stresses that DTI's can be differentiated from Stage 1 ulcers by their rapid deterioration despite proper care.

What are the legal implications of DTI's?

DTI's that are not recognized for what they are can have legal implications due to their ability to deteriorate despite stringent wound management practices. They result in increased costs and hospitalization, not to mention pain and suffering for the patient who develops one of these wounds, putting the health care practitioner and the facility at risk for litigation.

Salcido (2008) discusses the current Medicare changes that are scheduled to take effect October 1, 2008. These changes will have a huge impact on how hospitals are reimbursed. In regards to wound care, pressure ulcers will be considered hospital acquired (and therefore not reimbursed) unless these wounds are documented within 48 hours of admission. The onus is now on us, as healthcare professionals, to ensure that these wounds never develop, and if they do, they should be well documented and aggressively treated. This new policy is forcing us to examine our wound care management practices.

Documentation of DTI's

Wounds that are suspected as being a DTI should be afforded a full description and the word -DTI- should be mentioned. For those practitioners who work in long-term care with the Minimum Data Set (MDS) documentation system, the word -unstageable- should be used to describe those wounds that are suspicious for DTI. Thorough and ongoing documentation is crucial in respect to DTI's, as their rapid deterioration may make these wounds particularly tempting targets for litigation.

Education is the key to recognition and management of DTI's

Understanding the etiology of DTI's and learning how to differentiate these wounds from bruises, hematomas, and other closed wounds that may have a similar appearance is the key to prevention and treatment of these wounds, which have the potential for significant morbidity for patients, as well as being potentially litigious.

Lower Back and Hip Pain

Hip pain is related to back pain in most cases. The lower back and hip pain will normally go hand in hand. The causes of these two problems are normally the same. Movement is normally painful if one is facing this problem. The old are in most case prone to this condition and will normally experience so much pain.

The causes of this condition are not known to many doctors but are mainly caused by spinal stenoisis, arthritis and a fracture. The hip bone has a lubricating substance in the pelvis, thigh bone and the femur which work as shock absorbers. When pressure is exerted on the hip bone, these muscles contract and expand to protect the bone. Arthritis will affect both the hip and the back.

Lower back and hip pain like any other pain has ways of treatment. The doctors in most cases suggest some medication and routine exercising. During aging, the sacs around the hip get filled up with fluids which get inflammation in case of injury. The pain caused by this is normally unbearable and the only cure for this is to operate on the injured hip bone. If this problem is not solved as soon as it is meant to, it may bring bigger problems in future.

In cases of lower back and hip pain, immediate treatment should be sought. This will save the patient complicated issues in future. If one has one leg that is not of the same length, hip pain might occur. Treatment for this problem includes use of heat and cold water. Weight control and medicines against inflammation are also recommended. Change of posture taken while working is also an important factor.

3 steps in helping to reduce repetitive anxious thoughts

Your standing the conference room with all your peers looking at you as your about to give your big presentation.  You were so confident that you were going to nail this, you’ve prepared for weeks.  Then you start thinking “I’m going to mess this up and fail big time”.  It is fair to say that people do have an inclination to think a certain way and have repetitive thoughts about events or situations that bring on anxiety.  The thoughts can be so repetitive that they mess up your ability to finish tasks, thus creating more anxiety and panic within us.  This type of thinking can become a terrible cycle that can be very difficult to undo.

So how can people that suffer from repetitive anxious thoughts eliminate the intensity of the thought?

1)      An anxious thought enters your mind and whatever the thought, the sequence of feelings is always the same.

  • The anxious thought comes in and you instantly react with fear.
  • The fear you just felt sends a shock through your nervous system to the pit of your stomach.
  • The reaction you’re having within your body makes you think of the thought over and over.
  • The stronger the thoughts become the more your mind and body start to lose control completely.

2)      You start to question the thoughts, sometimes for an entire day.  The more you think about the thoughts the harder it seems for them to go away.

  • Why am I thinking about these thoughts?
  • Why can’t I get this feeling to go away?

3)      How do you start to eliminate the unwanted anxious thoughts?

  • Don’t force the thoughts away, this is very important.
  • Allow the thought to come in, the more comfortable you are with them the better.
  • The thoughts will not go away fully, but you can change the way you react to them.
  • When you become able to change your anxious thoughts the more free you become of them.

The most important thing to remember is everyone, and I mean everyone has anxious thoughts.  Most people as they have the anxious thought usually just think their just crazy thoughts and push them out of their mind immediately.  They see it for what it truly is a fleeting anxious thought and they just ignore it.  To people who have anxiety the anxious thought fuels out of control thoughts.  Choosing how to react to your anxious thoughts are key for reducing anxiety.

Try to observe the thought you are having and then label it.  By labeling the thought you are calling out were the thought is coming from, as in fear.  Next, watch how the thought passes through your mind and don’t judge the thought just watch it.  Finally move your focus on to whatever you were doing when the thought came into your mind.

Anxious thoughts are hard to deal with especially for the already anxiety ridden person dealing with them.  Just like anything else in life it takes practice and patience with any new thing we learn, yes even techniques on reducing repetitive anxious thoughts.  If you would like to take a more in-depth look at these and other techniques you can follow this link http://anxietypanic.weebly.com.

Treatment for Helicobacter Pylori Peptic Ulcer

The purpose of the treatment that your doctor recommends in case you have a peptic ulcer caused by H. Pylori is to destroy the bacteria, to lower the quantity of acid from your stomach and duodenum and to preserve the lining of your stomach and duodenum.

Antibiotic treatment will kill the bacteria if taken for 2 weeks in combination of two drugs. Some of the most efficient antibiotic drugs are: Metronidazole, Tetracycline, Clarithromycin and Amoxicillin. Also, one of the antibiotic drugs might be switched with bismuth salicylate which coats and soothes the stomach, protecting it from the damaging effects of acid.

In order to reduce the level of acid in your stomach, the doctor will prescribe you: H2-Receptor antagonists (Famotidine, Cimetidine, Nizatidine, and Ranitidine) and inhibitors of the proton pump (Omeprazole, Lansoprazole, and Pantoprazole). By decreasing the quantity of acid, the stomach and duodenum will not be injured any more by it, and the pain will be reduced.

For protecting the line of your stomach and duodenum, you will receive antacids like TUMS and ROLAIDS that will preserve the lining from the acid's action.

Treatment must be followed exactly as the doctor has prescribed it. Also, smoking and drinking alcohol and coffee must be eliminated or at least reduced. Stress is also a factor that contributes to the extent of ulcer, so you should avoid getting stressed. Some herbs and even acupuncture can be helpful.

Also, a diet is recommended to be followed. Cranberries, apples, onions kill the H. Pylori; fruits and vegetable that are rich in fiber are also good for you. Try to see what kind of aliments are causing you discomfort after eating them and then reduce them from your diet. Another rule is not to eat within two hour of bedtime. Also, if you have a cold avoid using aspirin because it will only injure your stomach more.

There are some rare cases when treatment is not effective and other measures must be applied. Surgery is a solution for treating peptic ulcers but only the doctor will be able to pronounce whether you need a surgery or not.

Treating ulcer from its beginnings is essential for your life. Left untreated ulcer can give you anemia (the blood has a lack of blood cells and can not transport oxygen properly) and perforation, meaning that the ulcer injures your stomach until it goes through its wall. Also, hemorrhages can appear and even death.

Getting Pregnant is Not Easy – Here Are Some Factors That Affect Your Pregnancy

Getting pregnant is not easy, and you are probably asking yourself, Why can not I get pregnant? There are many factors that prevent couples from getting pregnant and sometimes, it just take awhile. It is not an instant thing that happens the first time every time. There are factors that must always be considered when dealing with pregnancy. One of the biggest things that people seem to forget is all the factors that can make it difficult to get pregnant. This is why they estimate that couples do not get pregnant while actively trying until they have tried for about six months to a year. This may seem like a long time, but when you consider that everything you do in your daily life effects your getting pregnant, it's not really that long.

Stress is a huge issue with couples when trying to have a baby. The more you try, the harder it seems to work because it becomes a chore. Having a baby should be a joyous occasion that happens because you love each other and you want to start a family. Try to relax and be more casual about when and how you time it so that you are making love at the right times and not just whenever you feel like it.

If you have not conceived within a years time, your partner and you should both go to the doctor and be checked out for infertility. It might not be you, but your husband. If that is not the issue, there could be another medical issue that is holding you back from having a baby. Sometimes, those medical issues are undetectable until you go in to a doctor and get tested.

Consider the age of you and your partner. If you are over the age of thirty, it is much harder to conceive than it would be if you were younger. This is due to the change in hormones in your body. Your husband is going into a "deactivation" mode where his swimmers do not want to swim around anymore but would much prefer to wade, this makes it harder to stimulate them when they are already set on being lazy.

No matter the reason you are having trouble having a baby. Do not get discouraged, keep trying. If it does not happen naturally, there are other options.

Fibromyalgia-Caused Sleeplessness – How To Manage It

Fibromyalgia was officially recognized as a medical disorder by the American Medical Association in 1987. However, people have been suffering from this disorder ever since the beginning of the nineteenth century. It is a muscular disorder that causes intense pain in the patient’s muscles and joints. Being a rare condition, it is reported only in 3-6 percent of the population of the world.

Fibromyalgia affects more women than men; for every nine women suffering from this disorder, only one man is affected. According to the studies conducted by the College of Rhumatology, fibromyalgia affects women aged between twenty and fifty. The disease begins in childhood. Though not a killer disease, it causes different degrees of pain in different conditions. The debate on whether the disorder is progressive in nature or not has not yet been resolved.

Fibromyalgia causes enough pain to keep a patient awake at night. The pain is usually accompanied by a tingling sensation. People who suffer from fibromyalgia are usually subjected to chronic and endless sleep deprivation. They also suffer from memory lapses and other neurological symptoms. The comman complaint, however, is the lack of sleep caused by these incovenient muscular pains.

Fibromyalgia is also accompanied by other problems, which can make it difficult for the patient to enjoy a good night’s sleep. Some of the symptoms of this disorder are irritable bowel syndrome complicated by constipation. Fibromyalgia is also associated with headaches, skin disorders, symptomatic hypoglycemia, and myofacial twitching. The patient usually suffers from stress, fatigue, lack of sleep, and so on. The condition worsens when people don’t get enough rest.

The flareups of fibromyalgia, characterised by muscular pain and tingling sensation, are not the same as the pain suffered by patients of rheumatoid arthritis. Anti-inflammatory drugs such as Advil, Neproxine, and Acenomenofen can provide relief to those suffering from fibromyalgia.

You can also obtain relief from this condition by massaging the affected areas regularly. When you massage, you improve the circulation of the area. The blood and other fluids move easily from the muscles to the joints and you get temporary relief from inflammation and fibromyalgial flareups. But even the temporary relief will help you get some sleep. However, remember to massage only when you are not taking any drug for the condition because massaging in combination with drug intake can lead to complicating side effects.

You can easily manage fibromyalgia with the help of a competent doctor. Take the drugs prescribed as instructed by your physician. This will, in turn, enable you to sleep well. Besides, remember to eat healthy and get plenty of exercise. Taking a healthy diet comprising vegetables and fresh fruits and drinking lots of water and avoiding foods that don’t agree with you will give you lots of relief from the flareups. Take care of yourself and you will be able to sleep better.
