Eczema Skin Symptoms Resulting From Repressed Anger

I was told by my naturopathic doctor that eczema skin symptoms can also be a sign of repressed anger from within. I initially refused to believe it but the more I research into eczema and natural healing, the more I realised that there could be some truth in it.

What is repressed anger? Repressed anger simply means that you deny your thoughts and emotions and keep them all inside. You then become unresponsive and numb to several things that may affect you. If you keep all your negative thoughts to yourself, then it is possible that you develop eczema skin symptoms as your body seeks to find an outlet.

Every emotion is a potent force that suffuses your entire body, including your skin. What you feel emotionally can be easily observed by others on your skin level. The effect on your skin can be easily seen by others and can be electrically recorded. For instance, your skin blushes when you feel love or embarrassment, breaks out in cold sweat when you are afraid, and flushes with shame or anger.

When your eczema skin symptoms are observed as red and inflamed rashes, you may well be having an underlying fire fuelled by suppressed anger. If your emotions are spent or if you feel stuck, then these feelings are likely to result in dryness or even cracking of the skin. In contrast, excessive emotions are tied to oily skin. Should you be having conflicting emotions, overwhelming feelings of grief and anguish, self-hatred, or inappropriate passions, then you may find yourself breaking out in the form of rashes or blemishes.

Repressed anger not just manifests in eczema skin symptoms but can also have a negative impact on the rest of your body. These include migraines and ulcers, and in the long term, to strokes or tumours. Prolonged fears and repressed angers increase tensions and stresses. As you well know, stress can aggravate and worsen your bodily reactions such as eczema, shingles, psoriasis, or arthritis.

Naturopathic doctors say that the first body system that reacts to repressed anger is the gastro-intestinal or digestive system. You can experience difficulties in swallowing, nausea, vomitting, diarrhea, constipation, or gastric ulcer. Bear in mind the repressed anger is the most common cause of ulcerative colitis.

An interesting study of 128 patients in a hospital outpatient department was conducted to determine the relationship between repressed anger and the twelve symptoms or diseases. Among the 27 patients who suffered eczema, it was found out that eczema flared up whenever the individual could not quite handle the intense frustration of being prevented from doing something or simply interfered with.

Hence, if you have eczema skin symptoms, then you may wish to approach healing from looking at your emotional well-being. Are you having repressed anger? If so, you will need to look for ways in dealing with your anger, rather than suppress it. Seeking open communication with your loved ones help. Alternatively, find outlets that can help you discharge the unspent emotions that smoulder but remain alive in you. Channels, such as religion or taking up meaningful work, that help you gain some perspective about your life can also assist in diffusing the anger that you feel.

Summertime Penis Rash – Quick Tips for Banishing Unsightly Skin Conditions

Summer is a time for love, and many a man has a plan or two up his sleeve when it comes to summertime romance – whether they are looking forward to a special getaway with a partner or hoping to meet someone new and interesting.

But as much fun as warm-weather activities can be, they can take a toll on the penis, and men might find that their package is not quite up to snuff when it comes time to drop his shorts. Fortunately, with the right approach to penis care, a little fun in the sun does not have to lead to an unsightly penis rash or unhealthy, peeling skin.

Some of the common causes of summertime penis rash are described here, as well as tips for banishing them, or avoiding them altogether.

  • Heat rash – While the sight of a penis rash on a hot day can send a man into panic, one of the most common causes is also one of the least worrisome. Sweating, combined with the natural warmth of the pelvic region, can lead to heat rash, which appears as a scattering of red dots or bumps on the skin. Wearing loose-fitting clothing, washing every day, and applying a moisturizer or powder to the area can help to eliminate an unsightly red penis rash.
  • Dermatitis – With less clothing comes more potential for contact with the outside environment, and more than one man has had an embarrassing encounter with poison ivy, poison oak, or other plant-based irritants. Certain sunscreens and other lotions may also cause an unpleasant skin reaction resulting in a penis rash. After coming in contact with a potential irritant, it is important to wash the area thoroughly to remove any traces of the offending substance; applying an anti-itch cream and letting the area heal is generally all that is needed.
  • Skin allergies – Latex allergies are common and can develop even in men who have previously used latex condoms without incident. Men who experience itching, redness or a rash after using a condom should avoid latex, looking for an alternate material instead.
  • Sunburn – Men do not have to sunbathe in the nude to sustain a sunburn in this most delicate of areas; the sun’s UV rays are perfectly capable of burning right through the clothing. Even men who plan to stay covered up should slather on the sunscreen to avoid a red penis. Choosing beachwear made with UV-blocking fabrics is also a good idea.
  • Jock itch – The fungus responsible for jock itch thrives in warm, moist conditions, making a sweaty pelvic area an ideal haven for growth. To avoid developing an itchy, spreading rash, men should refrain from sharing towels, clothing or other personal items. Keeping the area clean is also a must, and applying an anti-fungal medication if an infection does appear can help to clear it up.
  • Yeast infection – Like jock itch, the Candida yeast that causes yeast infection likes warm weather. Adding a damp bathing suit or a sweaty pair of shorts to the mix makes for the perfect environment for yeast overgrowth. Men who develop an itchy rash, peeling skin and/or a thick, whitish discharge should see a doctor for diagnosis; over-the-counter antifungal creams are generally effective for treating this condition.

Healthy penis care tips – the benefits of skin nutrients

Like the rest of the body, the penis requires good nutrition to resist infection, rebuild damaged cells and stay fit and functioning well. Applying a penis health formula (most health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) after a daily shower can help men to ensure that their penis receives the direct benefits of skin-friendly vitamins, antioxidants, and moisturizers needed to smooth the skin, protect against environmental damage, and heal damaged dermal tissue.

Cold Sores – Natural Remedies

Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus. The first infection may have the symptoms of swollen glands, a general feeling of being unwell and painful mouth ulcers. Subsequent attacks occur mostly when the person is run down and they start with a tingling and itch on an area around the lips and nostrils, then tiny blisters appear. These blister break and weep. They then crust over and gradually disappear. Scratching will spread the virus and it can lead to a bacterial infection. The virus lives permanently in the nerve endings of many adults and children. Cold sores are contagious and care should be taken not to spread them to other parts of the body or to other people.

The following may activate the virus:

  • poor diet (even if only in the short term),
  • dietary triggers such as chocolate and peanuts,
  • mental or physical stress and fatigue,
  • rubbing or chafing of the skin,
  • illness,
  • menstruation,
  • depleted immunity or being ‘run down’.

What you can do to treat cold sores

When treating cold sores it is important to boost the immune system – thus assisting the body to combat the virus.

  • Cleanse your body of toxins so that the immune system is able to function at its best.
  • Make sure that you eat a diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables including broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts and kohlrabi, garlic and onion, chili, ginger, sprouted seeds and beans and use cold pressed seed and vegetable oils. These all assist the immune system.
  • Have plenty of garlic or use a garlic supplement or other natural antibiotic such as olive leaf extract or grapefruit seed extract.
  • Take vitamin C (specifically calcium ascorbate – this is a non-acidifying vitamin C).
  • Take a good multivitamin and mineral supplement.
  • Manage your stress levels. Progressive relaxation and creative visualisation will be of assistance with stress anxiety or depression. There are also many herbal remedies that you can use to deal with stress.
  • Be sure that you have plenty of exercise.

The following herbs will support your immune system and should be taken in conjunction with the recommendations above:

  • echinacea
  • golden seal
  • cleavers
  • plantain
  • bayberry
  • burdock
  • huang qi
  • nettle
  • wormwood
  • calendula
  • myrrh
  • poke root
  • dandelion root
  • licorice

The following herbal formula will be most useful:

2 parts cleavers

2 parts echinacea

1 part oats

1 part poke root

Combine all the ingredients. Take 1 teaspoon of the herb blend and place into a suitable sized saucepan and add one cup of boiling water. Allow this to stand for 10-15 minutes. Strain out the herbs. Drink 1 cup of this tea twice per day.

  • Externally a lotion of echinacea with or without myrrh will prove useful.

The following can also be applied externally:

  • melissa oil
  • lavender oil
  • calendula tincture
  • myrrh tincture
  • golden seal tincture

Cold sores are an infection of the herpes simplex virus. They are an indication that the immune system is not functioning as effectively as it could. These are many things that you can do to deal with cold sores but the most important are to cleanse the body of toxins and boost immunity.

What Is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a skin disease which was confused with leprosy for centuries. Because of the failure to understand the difference between these diseases, people with psoriasis could experience humiliation and abandonment by their family and community. In the 19th century, Drs. Hebra and Kaposi, realised leprosy was different from psoriasis and that is was a distinct medical disease. Since then, scientists have been trying to find the root cause of the disease, safe treatments, and a cure.

Affecting 1 to 3 percent of the world's population, psoriasis is one of the most common skin disorders. Psoriasis is a chronic (long-lasting and recurring) inflammatory, non-contagious skin disease, characterised by itchy, thick, raised, red areas of skin covered with silvery-white scales. Psoriatic lesions (is less than 1 cm in diameter and is raised above the surface of the skin) are most commonly found on the elbows, knees, scalp and lower back, although any part of the body can be affected, including the fingernails and toenails

Psoriasis can vary in presentation and severity. The majority of patients (approximately 80 to 90 percent) present with relatively mild disease with only limited involvement of the skin which can be controlled with topical creams. Approximately 15 to 30 percent of psoriasis patients experience arthritis or inflammation of joints, which can range in severity from mild to disabling.

Psoriasis can be intensely itchy and can burn. Causing patients great discomfort, pain and emotional distress. Depending on the severity, psoriasis can affect relationships and the ability to work or enjoy leisure activities. For example, parents with tender lesions on their hands might find it difficult to care for their babies; patients with painful pustules on their hands or feet can find themselves unable to work with their hands or walk; and food handlers are constantly faced with the question: "Is that contagious?" Teens are often embarrassed by their blemished skin and are unwilling to wear shorts in gym class or during the summer. These limitations can affect both their psycho social development and ability to enjoy normal healthy activities. In short, psoriasis can have a profound negative physical and psychological impact on patients and their families.

Patients who have more limited disease, however, might not experience much discomfort, nor be emotionally distressed by its appearance. There are even patients with extensive areas of their bodies involved who are not physically or emotionally affected to any great degree.

Signs and Symptoms

1) Commonly appears as red, raised, dry scaly areas of the skin.

2) Nail changes such as deformity and crumbling of the nail plate can occur.

3) Arthritis can also be present with joint swelling, tenderness and stiffness.

4) Lesions can differ in size from several millimetres to several centimetres.

A lesion that is less than 1 cm in diameter (and is raised above the surface of the skin), is called a papule, and a raised lesion that is greater than 1 cm in diameter is called a plaque. Some people can have pustules present on the palms and soles or on other areas of the body. Psoriasis can be localised involving the elbows and knees, or widespread, covering the entire body.

Types of Psoriasis

There are five different types of psoriasis:

. plaque-type psoriasis

. guttate psoriasis

. inverse psoriasis

. erythrodermic psoriasis

. pustular psoriasis

Each type has its own unique characteristics; some types can occur alone or coincide with other forms. Therapy can differ for each.

What Are Those White Spots On My Throat?

An increasing number of folks are finding white spots on the back of their tonsils, and they are not entirely sure what to do about it. Thankfully in most instances, they are nothing more than tonsil stones – small accumulations of food particles and other microscopic bacteria that can collect in the tonsil crypts or the tonsils themselves.

Tonsilloliths can appear in a number of different places in the mouth. But because they tend to accumulate near the back of the throat, the sensation is often that of something hard and / or lumpy in the back of the throat that seems like it could be easily swallowed, but it cannot.

That sensation is almost worse than the tonsillolith itself. But not quite. Nothing is worse than the disgusting little blobs that smell like natural gas mixed with rotten eggs.

They can cause all manner of annoying symptoms, the most common of which is bad breath. Removing them is a challenge generally, but on occasion you will likely cough one up at the absolute worst possible moment.

Since these tonsil stones are a collection of bacteria, it stands to reason that their continued presence in your mouth could increase the likelihood of infections like tonsillitis. A tonsillectomy will take care of this problem, but don’t be too quick to have your tonsils removed. The procedure tends to be a bit more involved for adults than it is for children.

Removal options include Q-tips, pulsing water, trying to gently brush them off your tonsils with a toothbrush, or gargling.

There is one other method however, that has proven to be highly effective in the removal and prevention of tonsil stones.

Toenail Fungus Cures – Home Remedies and Over the Counter

If your toenails are flaking, yellowed, and generally unappealing to look at, you could be battling a toenail fungus infection. And you are not alone. There are millions of people with this persistent infection that makes going to the beach downright embarrassing.

But do not give up; there are a lot of different treatments that you can take advantage of. The bad news is … a toenail fungus can be a very tough critter to kill off. This means that you need to be religious with treating the infection on a daily basis and controlling the environment that allows the infection to grow.

A fungus infection can gain access to your nails through a trauma to the nail or even by a simple break in your skin somewhere on your foot. A nail trauma caused by bumping your toe or if the nail is accidentally lifted creates easy access for the infection. Immediate treatment to the nail by a thorough cleaning with an antibiotic soap and disinfectants, followed by wrapping the toe will help reduce the possibility of an infection taking root.

Toenail fungus also thrives in a moister rich environment. Allowing your feet to breath and keeping moisture away from the toenails will help. Avoid synthetic foot ware including both shoes and hosiery. Leather shoes and cotton or wool socks allow your feet to breathe better and pull moister away from your feet. This again reduces the environment that a fungus likes.

Depending on the severity of your infection, there are main natural treatments that you can try.

– A vinegar for soaks 10-20 minutes after showers or baths
– A turmeric powder pastes applied a couple times a day.
– Applying tree tea oil twice daily
– Vick's Vapor Rub
– Over the counter treatments like ZetaClear

No matter what treatment your try, the best think you can do is to try to catch the infection as early as possible. Curing your toenail fungus infection is not a overnight process and can take months of persistence to achieve. So the sooner that you start you treatment the faster you will be able to proudly go barefoot again.

Help, I Am Allergic To My Tattoo

If you have a tattoo allergy then you suffer from allergies Type 4 also called cell-mediated or delayed allergies. When T-cells become activated and result in an inflammation of the effected area. It usually develops with repeated exposure to some substance in the environment. All of a sudden you may develop a hypersensitivity to all of your jewelry. Symptoms may include a rash, itching, swelling, blistering, and eczema.

Although extremely rare, a tattoo allergy usually occurs because of the type of inks used. Most allergy symptoms are the result of using red, green, blue and yellow colored inks. In the past, many brands of tattoo ink used mercury in them but this practice has all but disappeared because of its harmful side effects.

Today many of the inks used by tattoo artiest contain nickel, cadmium and chromine. Many of the cheaper jewelry items contain nickel in them and if you have problems wearing jewelry then do not get a tattoo. It is also important to note that symptoms may not show up immediately, but may take years to show up.

All allergies tend to get worst over time. The more times you are exposed to the offending agent the worst your allergy symptoms become. The first time you get a tattoo you may show only a slight redness or itching, which is usually attributed to the tattooing process itself instead of an allergic reaction. After getting your second, third or forth tattoo, suddenly all of your tattoos develop rashes and blistering not just your newest work of art. This is the reason why getting a skin patch test is not really conducive to detecting allergies before getting a tattoo.

Treatment

If you develop tattoo allergies soon after you get your inked masterpiece, you can often get relief with the liberal application of antibiotic ointment, hydrocortisone creams, anti-itch creams and cold compresses. If the area does not clear up in a week or two you should visit a dermatologist who will likely prescribe some type of steroid to combat your tattoo allergies.

Nickel, cadmium and chromine from the inks used will be in your body for life. If your allergy symptoms show up after several years of obtaining the inked work of art you should seriously consider having all of them removed. Laser tattoo removal is the latest and perhaps the best method of removal.

Laser energy causes the tattoo pigment to fragment into smaller particles which can then be removed by the body’s immune system. Because black pigment absorbs all laser wavelengths, it’s the easiest to remove. Colors such as green, blue, red and yellow selectively absorb laser light and can only be treated by selected lasers based on the pigment color.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with treating the allergy symptoms such as Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, and Quercitin.

Vitamin E accelerates wound healing and aids in the functioning of the immune system. Vitamin E can be taken internally or applied as a lotion to the affected areas of the skin.

Aloe Vera will help rejuvenate and tone skin all over. A naturally cooling gel, the Aloe Vera botanical ingredients work together to stimulate the blood circulation and naturally soften the skin.

Quercitin is a well-known flavonoid. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants and can reduce inflammation boost the immune system and strengthen blood vessels and improve circulation. Quercitin is also known for its ability to block the release of histamines, thus reducing or preventing allergy symptoms.

Signs and Symptoms of Stress

The pace of our everyday lives can put tremendous strain on not just our physical health but also our mental health. There are always people or things that demand our attention, and more often than not it is the pressure that we put on ourselves which puts us under the most pressure. We often drive ourselves too hard with our own expectations of what we should be doing at work and home and then we try and squeeze in some time for ourselves such as, exercise training at home as we do not have the time to go out, and it is often this which puts us under the most pressure.

When we find ourselves thinking about a situation that is stressful our body responds in a physical way. These thought patterns trigger the release of a hormone called adrenaline. Adrenaline makes the heart rate quickens, blood pressure rises, breathing becomes rapid and shallow, your muscles tense and your senses become more alert. This physical response to a thought is known as the "fight or flight response". These physical changes are there to help you stand your ground and fight, or turn and run away from danger.

Everyday life does not now normally put us in such a dangerous position but feeling anxious, angry or even frustrated at having to wait our turn, can cause these physical symptoms to occur. It is therefore important to take some time out and think about how things are going.

Below some of the common signs of being stressed, be honest with yourself and think is this "just like me" "sometimes" or "not like me"

. Inability to concentrate
. Seeing only the negative
. Anxious or racing thoughts
. Constant worrying
. Moodiness
. Irritability or short temper
. Feeling agitated,
. Feeling overwhelmed
. Feeling lonely and isolated
. Depression or general unhappiness

Stress symptoms can also exhibit themselves in physical ways such as

Having looked at some the signs and symptoms of being stressed you may be surprised with the results. Often life is so busy that taking time to think about our mental health and well being is something which is last on your to do list. If you did score high, then talk with a trusted family member, friend or seek help and advice from your Doctor. Take some quality time out for yourself perhaps get out into the countryside breathe deeply, do an exercise training session, listen to your favourite music.

Depression – Do You Suffer From Depression Disorder?

How do you know if you suffer from depression disorder? Well, you need to be properly diagnosed by a doctor or psychiatrist to be certain. However, in order to do that you must first suspect that you might be suffering from depression disorder. This will lead you to see your doctor and get her opinion.

Depression is a mental disorder that is becoming much more common these days. It is normally treated with antidepressants by doctors. Psychotherapy is also used and a combination of the two treatments might be the best approach that yields the best results.

The symptoms of depression that you can look out for may include chronic fatigue, difficulty concentrating or making decisions, constant sadness, thoughts about death or suicide, trouble sleeping or oversleeping, loss of interest in your daily activities and despair.

These are just a few general symptoms and you really should discuss your symptoms with a medical professional. Your doctor can also do some tests to rule out any physical causes for your depression symptoms such as an underlying illness or deficiency.

If you suffer from depression you will know how hard it is to gather up the courage to get up out of bed in the morning and face the day. It is therefore vital to have a clear picture of what you need to do each day. This will help your foggy mind to focus on something specific to do instead of just being confused by negative thoughts and fears. Being active everyday is an important step. This includes exercise. Go walking, jumping or kicking at least 3 times per week to make your body feel better. This will have a positive impact on your mental health as well, however small.

You can also read books or magazines to keep your mind occupied. I have found that reading inspirational books can have a inspiring effect for a short while. Keep a good book next to your bed so you can read a little every day.

I have also began to learn zen meditation. This practice calms my mind and allows me to find a little peace and sanctuary from my often racing and negative thought patterns. This is also a mental and spiritual exercise that helps me to master my own awareness.

It is important to learn how to manage your symptoms and thoughts and to continue living your life. Crawling into a corner and hoping to die is not constructive. You should not give up yet. After depression there is still a lot of life left to live.

Fear of Snakes – Self Hypnosis Help For Snakes Fears

Phobia of snakes or ophidiophobia can develop from your experiences. You may have had a traumatic encounter with reptiles as a child or you may have witnessed another individual’s encounter. No matter what the cause, you want to gain control of the fear and anxiety that you feel when faced with the thought of snakes.

Nature of Fear and Phobia

Fears are natural responses that are designed to help you keep out of harm’s way. We are wired to have psychological and physical responses to frightening situations. Snakes may be dangerous in extreme situations but they are relatively harmless in most instances.

Fear develops into phobia of snakes when you are unable to gauge your fear properly. Facing a snake may be startling and it is natural to experience some apprehension but when the emotion become irrational and all encompassing, you need to take action.

Phobia of Snakes: The Symptoms

Being afraid of snakes is perfectly natural. Anxiety and irrational fear that is unbearable are telltale signs that your fear is developing into a phobia. If you have persistent thoughts about snakes and the possibility of being attacked, you probably have ophidiophobia.

Physical responses include sweating, shaking, chills and nausea. Some people may become dizzy or disoriented because of panic. Your fear of snakes may actually be a phobia if you think about the event of coming across one on a regular basis. If you feel obsessed with a frightening encounter with a snake, you may be ready for help.

When to Seek Help

Ideally, you should seek help for ophidophobia once you begin to fear snakes excessively. A phobia of snakes develops over time so it is best to treat the fears before they become irrational or overwhelming. You can take matters into your own hands by being proactive about your fear of snakes.

Self-Hypnosis

You may feel as if you have no control over your fears and on a conscious level, you don’t. Self-hypnosis helps you gain control over this negative emotion by delving into your subconscious. You do not have to wait until your fear becomes a phobia of snakes to get the help you need.

Mind Programming

The mind is like a computer. Your thought processes can be programmed at a subconscious level to help you overcome adversity. Self-hypnosis is a viable tool for mind programming that can help you overcome your fear of snakes before it turns into a phobia.

Some may try to take a cognitive approach to train their minds to respond with less fear. This seems like a logical approach. However, we use roughly ten percent of our brains on the conscious level. There are many layers beneath that need to be addressed, especially when you want to overcome your phobia of snakes.

Symptoms of Anxiety Attacks in Women: Common Causes

If you have ever had an anxiety attack, you know just how terrifying it can be. Suddenly and without warning your heart starts to pound, you feel dizzy and nauseous, and you just want to get away from the place where the attack strikes. Symptoms of anxiety attack in women can vary, depending on the severity of the episode. In extremely severe attacks, the sufferer may feel like she's losing control of her surroundings, become disconnected or even feel like dying.

What is it exactly that triggers anxiety symptoms in women? While some anxiety attacks are isolated episodes triggered by stress, most symptoms have underlying issues that warrant immediate attention. This is because, although stress and anxiety symptoms are closely related, anxiety attacks can be caused by factors other than stress that may lead to more serious mental conditions, such as panic disorder or anxiety disorder. If you want to stop panicking and lead a normal, social life, your first step should be to understand the causes of your attacks.

Probable Causes

So, what are the causes? The truth is, it's not entirely understood. As with most other emotional symptoms, the onset of an attack or the development of a disorder can be attributed to a combination of factors. These include an individual's personality, her outlook on life, her mindset and ways of thinking, and her biological vulnerabilities, physiological factors and social stressors.

In biological terms, an anxiety attack occurs when the body's fight-or-flight response misfires. The fight-or-flight response can be thought of as the body's alarm system. It is controlled by a complex set of mental and physical mechanisms that, when confronted with an imminent threat in our environment, prepares us to respond to the danger.

We are inherently 'designed' to save ourselves and to avoid situations that could pose a threat to our emotional or physical well-being. When faced with a threat, our fight-or-flight response kicks in, and makes us ready to "fight" the threat or take "flight" and escape from it. When this response is triggered unnecessarily, without a rational danger in our environment, we have an anxiety attack.

Although it's not clear why this response misfires in some people, what researchers do know is that some women are more susceptible than others. One factor is heredity. Scientists have found that genes play a strong role in the development of this condition, that it tends to run in families, and that a twin is especially vulnerable if the other twin has had an attack in the past. These results suggest The while a strong connection Between symptoms of anxiety attack in women and her genes, there are On: many women with no family history may WHO COMPLETE Develop this disorder.

Anxiety symptoms in women were once viewed as being purely emotional. However, today, after more than 30 years of research, we know that it has very real physiological causes. One of the most common physiological causes is hormonal imbalance. Others include adrenal imbalance, digestive imbalance, and thyroid problems.

Another possibility is nutritional deficiencies of certain minerals in our diet. However, this link too is weak at best. Some studies have found that deficiencies of zinc and magnesium may be linked to a higher risk, whereas others have found the results too inconclusive to establish a link to symptoms of anxiety in women.

Social Causes

Perhaps one of the most important risk factors can be studied from a social standpoint. Adolescents or adults who have been physically or sexually abused as children are the most prone to develop panic and other anxiety disorders later in her life. If the individual already suffers from another mental disease, the likelihood of developing panic disorder is even greater. In these people, the first attack is often triggered by a major physical ailment, a life-changing event, stress, or taking medication that stimulate parts of the brain that control fear reactions.

How to Keep an Ingrown Toenail From Becoming Infected

Have you done this? You spend half an hour every day soaking your feet and then stuffing cotton padding in between your broken up toenail and raw nail bed hoping to go another day and keep your ingrown nail at bay and also hoping it won’t get bad enough that they’ll have to eventually operate?

An ingrown toenail is one of the most frustrating health problems you could have. It is not immediately life threatening, but the annoyance and inconvenience factor is on a scale of 1 to 10, about an 8. Have you ever had to refuse a dance because it would mess up your toenail recovery efforts? Or how about if you like to run like I did? It seems like such a minor thing.

There are some things you can do to minimize the discomfort and stay active on your feet. I will go through those in a minute. I found these tips were helpful, not only for the above reason, but also for keeping my toes from becoming infected and making a trip to the doctor or operating table merely an option.

The first thing you can do is soak your feet everyday in sea saltwater. Saltwater is good for your wounded toes because it causes damaged cell fluid and “dirty” white blood cells to flow out of the wound. It has a cleansing effect. Epsom saltwater is probably used most widely. Sea salt has a component of this salt already in it.

The second thing you can do is try to separate the nail edge from the nail bed to minimize further nail bed damage. The nail of an ingrown toenail – especially by the time it has become a full-blown ingrown toenail – has deteriorated to the point of becoming rough – sharp even – to the flesh under it. Every step you make jostles the two together and causes more damage. That’s why it’s so important to try to keep the two separated.

You can use cotton or almost anything suitable that you can reasonably or comfortably fit in between the nail edge and the nail bed. I used cotton make-up removal pads and found they worked great. But you could even try using folded up paper first aid tape. I used that too, for a while.

Finally, you can wrap up the toe to keep the cotton in place for another day. But keep in mind that you will have to remove it at the end of the day and repeat the entire thing for the next day.

This is in effect another annoyance of having an ingrown toenail – having to take care of the cleaning and bandaging. But if you really don’t relish thought of having your toenails removed or cut, this could keep you going for a while longer while you considered what your next move should be…Or you could learn this simple secret to fixing your ingrown toenail and finding instant relief.
