Single Premium Vs Regular Premium

It may sound familiar or similar, but there are major differences between a single premium and a regular premium. One of the most notable ones is that a single premium are one-off risk payments that an insurer gets for covering continuous risks over a period of time. A regular premium, however, gives insurers ever lasting income streams in return for covering the risk. In other words, a single premium gets paid off by one large sum investment payment instead of having to make periodic payments over the course of many years. So let’s look at the advantages of having a single premium versus having a regular premium plan:

1. There are multiple effects. You can buy a much larger cash benefit that will be left to your estate, children, or charity of your choice.

2. Your policy may grow a cash value much higher and quicker than that of a traditional premium rate. This means you can grow an asset that is useful even while you are still alive.

3. You can get life settlements to help you with your needs. A life settlement company can help pay for your death benefits, which is usually much larger than the actual premiums that have been paid.

While there are some pros to having single premiums instead of regular premiums, there are also cons and disadvantages to consider:

1. You will need a large lump sum of money that you do not plan to use in order to fund your new policy. Surrender charges exist if you plan on cashing out early, but you do have the option of repaying the loan and establishing your benefits again.

2. There are some tax disadvantages because the IRS considers these policies to be special contracts.

3. Do not plan on buying a new life insurance policy after choosing a single premium instead of a regular premium.

Always remember that single and regular premiums are different types of products that are not right for everybody. Be sure to carefully consider the fact that single premium investments build up quickly because the policy is fully funded. However, the size of the death benefit will depend on the amount invested and the health, and age of the insured. Under a regular premium plan, you are required to pay interest rates on a continuous monthly basis as per your choice on a certain specific date. Either option may be more flexible with your current budget and needs.

Oral Yeast Infection – Thrush

Thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth that can cause a lot of pain when swallowing. It can also have many other symptoms that are not pleasant such as white patches that have been described as "lacy" looking that is on top of a bed of red and soreness that can appear on the tongue, palate and in various other parts of the mouth. To determine whether or not the white patches that you have are actually oral yeast infection thrush then you can take a small cotton bud and wipe the affected area. If the white part comes away and leaves the red bit looking sore, angry and bleeding underneath then the chances are that you have a yeast infection in the mouth.

A yeast infection that is present in the mouth can cause a lot of discomfort while eating and drinking and therefore it is important to make sure that the infected person is still having fluids and food to make sure that they do not become dehydrated. This is especially important for young children and in young babies, this oral yeast infection can be a common problem.

As a general rule, an oral yeast infection will require a trip to a medical professional such as your local doctor to get the recommended treatment. There are a few things that you can do to soothe the pain at home and one of these is to eat natural yoghurt which has a calming effect when taken from the fridge and the natural organism's present help to fight the yeast that has overgrown. This however, can be rather hard if the sufferer is having trouble eating and drinking so this should not really be used as treatment by itself.

An oral yeast infection in children and particularly young babies will require rather more urgency when taking them to the doctor as they can become easily dehydrated especially if they have having problems feeding.

H.E.M. Ankle Rehab

Everybody always hears the standard advice when they sprain an ankle. Ice it and rest. This is known as the R.I.C.E. System which stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. While this is an OK approach in the immediate short term, there a re plenty of significant lacks to this system of rehabilitation. They include :

Drawbacks of R.I.C.E. for a twisted ankle :

* customarily takes at least 2-8 weeks to fix.

* doesn’t increase range of motion.

* does not correct neural damage.

* does not reinforce ankle.

* Increases likelihood of ankle injury in the future.

* Increases risk of knee ( A.C.L. – Anterior Cruciate Ligament ) and hip injuries.

I have sprained my personal ankle a number of times during the past, because I play plenty of basketball. I have personally been throuugh all of the disappointment and agony that’s concerned with this sort of injury. Eventually, I puzzled if there had been a neater way to rehabilitation myself then the old version of R.I.C.E. Since I regard myself as a licensed trainer from one of the most illustrious fitness schedules in the united states, ( N.A.S.M. (National Academy of Sports Medicine), I already knew that there had to be a simpler way. I just had to find it.

When you sprain an ankle, a lot of things happen. Beyond the apparent swelling, rigidity, and bruising, there are 3 main issues that must be addressed to cure the ankle quickly and correctly :

1 ) The body tends to heal very slowly. Left to itself, an ankle injury sometimes takes about 2-8 weeks to cure, depending on the seriousness of the injury. But , when you actively rehabilitate it with specific exercises that strengthen it and increase range of motion, the ankle replies very fast and swelling goes down quickly. My clients recover from a sprained ankle in days not weeks. They are usually walking typically within 3-5 days after an ankle twist injury.

2) The ankle joint is weakened by the injury. If it isn’t correctly rehabilitated, it will remain weak and may be very slow to fix. It will also be at uch bigger risk of re-injury. You have to fortify the ligaments and muscles round the ankle joint. Since they’ve been damaged, they have to be stretched and strengthened in order to heal properly. Further, by stretching and reinforcing the ankle, we keep the blood moving in and out of that area which helps the ankle heal significantly quicker.

3) After an ankle injury, there is a neural impairment. To explain, the communication between the nervous system and the ankle joint will be reduced. If this isn’t addressed, healing will naturally take much longer. Also, after you think your ankle is better, the neural impairment will continue, putting you in jeopardy for injury in the future.

My system works to reduce swelling, bruising and agony while at the same time strengthening the muscles around the ankle joint and accelerating pliability. These aren’t paradoxical things. You might imagine you only need rest and ice, but which will insure your recovery process is slow and unfinished. The ligaments need to be stretched and worked in such a manner that the body will trigger the process of healing. In other words, the more flexible and powerful your ankle becomes, the quicker your body will work through the process of healing. But , you’ve got to be awfully careful to not over-work the muscles by doing exercises which will overwork the muscles and possible cause more damage.

But , the better part about my program is that it’s not nearly speed. One of the unique things about my system is that it also repairs the neuromuscular damage from the injury. When you do damage to ligaments as in an ankle sprain, the nervous system and muscles in the ankle joint to speak as well anymore. If that’s not addressed, then you’ll always have weaker, less flexible ankles that are at risk for future injury. To correctly heal the ankle joint, we must first correct the impaired neural communication between the muscles and nervous system. This is totally addressed in my system with some incredibly simple and easy to do exercises.

Here are the main advantages of H.E.M. :

* discomfort free walking in days.

* Back to sports in roughly a week.

* noticeably increases strength and suppleness.

* Heals neuromuscular damage from the injury.

* seriously decreases your possibility of future injury.

* Helps correct posture and muscle imbalances.

* May help dramatically reduce knee, hip, back stiffness.

* Anyone can do it.

* It’s simple and will take only mins a day.

* Filled with high quality photographs to insure simplicity of use.

Hepatitis Part III – How to Prevent Hepatitis With Foods

As we mentioned in previous articles, hepatitis is characterized by the destruction of a number of liver cells and the presence of inflammatory cells in the liver tissue caused by excessive alcohol drinking, disorders of the gall bladder or pancreas, medication side effects, and infections. Therefore strengthening your immune system and cleansing your body of toxins become the most important factor in avoiding being infected by hepatitis virus. Here are some foods containing antioxidant and liver cleansing powers:

1. Fresh water algae
Fresh water algae contains high amounts of antioxidant-chlorophyll that has the power in strengthening the immune system to fight any bacteria and virus infection. It also helps in cleansing liver toxins as well as fat build-up in liver.

2. Whole grain products
Whole grain product stimulates the liver to rid the body of toxins, supports the heart and is rich in protein, B vitamins, and fiber. It also helps lower blood cholesterol, reduce tumors, strengthens the immune and treats hepatitis.

3. Green vegetable juices
The fresh raw vegetable juices are vitally important in the nutritional treatment of hepatitis. Green Vegetable juice contains high amounts of vitamin C, bioflavonoids, carotenoids, living plant enzymes to aid digestion & vitamin K resulting in cleansing of liver toxins as well as strengthening the immune system, helping to fight against hepatitis infection.

4. Legumes
Legumes contain the nutrients and good sources of water-soluble fibers that your body needs to produce and activate the dozens of enzymes involved in the various phases of detoxification.

5. Cold water fish
Cold water fish contain high amounts of essential fatty acids that helps to support the detoxification pathways in the liver, break down toxic chemicals and toxins from the blood stream. A healthy liver filter will keep your blood stream clean and free of dangerous toxins and microorganisms. The regular use of a liver tonic such as essential fatty acids support the repair of liver cells.

6. Limit daily intake of alcohol
Alcohol is a potent toxin to the liver. Excessive alcohol drinking can lead to cirrhosis and its complications, including liver cancer.

7. Stop smoking
Cigarette fumes contain high amounts of cadmium, a toxic chemical that causes not only blood clots but also weakens the immune system functioning by fighting against harmful viruses and detoxifying the liver.

Penis Shrinking – Causes Of Penile Shrinkage And Why It Needs Help

If a man is worried about his penis shrinking, it’s generally quite a cause for concern. When a man is young and virile, his penis is living its best years. Sex is more fun, your penis seems to be as big and hard as it can get and you can go for longer in bed.

It’s only later on, in a man’s late 30s, 40s or afterwards that the penis shrinking kicks in, causing much confusion, despair and even panic.

The Causes Of Penis Shrinking

Penile shrinkage is when you lose some girth and length from the original size of your erect penis. Men also can lose size and weight from their penis in its flaccid state. The potential causes are quite simple to understand and you can find a remedy if you apply some natural techniques.

Weaker erections

Quite simply, most cases of a penis shrinking are related to erections becoming less hard as time goes on. Harder erections maximize the potential of your penis and increase the size of your erect member. When your erections are hard and powerful, your penis will seem bigger. This is because it is bigger!

As a man ages, levels of the main sex hormone, testosterone, decline and he may experience weaker erections and weight gain. This is what makes the penis smaller than before. Fortunately, this process can be reversed.

Poor blood circulation

As the years pass, a man eats more, drinks more and sometimes smokes. The penis depends on adequate blood circulation for strong erections. Fats can build up in the blood vessels and prevent blood from reaching the penis. Smoking can restrict blood flow and affect libido negatively. A lack of erections can cause blood circulation to become weak in the penile area over time.

Low testosterone

The male hormone, testosterone, declines in men after the age of 30 and can reach unacceptably low levels in men with a number of negative symptoms including the penis shrinking.

Anabolic steroids can cause the testicles to effectively shut down as the body starts to depend on steroids instead of natural testosterone. To some extent, penile shrinkage can also be a consequence of steroids.

Testosterone treatment

Men have reported that testosterone injections can cause their testicles to shut down and shrink, in the same way that steroids do. The penis and erection quality can also be affected to some extent.

Solutions For The Penis Shrinking

Now you know about the causes of penile shrinkage, we get to the interesting part, the solutions. You’ll be pleased to find out that you can reverse penis shrinking and although it may take a few weeks or a couple of months, it is absolutely possible.

Boost testosterone

Taking a supplement for boosting testosterone naturally in your body is the first step towards growing your penis back to a healthy normal size again. Choosing a high quality supplement is a great place to start your energy back on the road to recovery and harder erections.

You can also exercise. Train your muscles 3 times a week and do some cardio exercise at least 3 times per week and get out in the sunshine more often. Eat more cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower for best results.

Penile Massage

You may have heard of penile massage for improving blood circulation in the penile area. This is quite easy for you to do in an erect or a flaccid state. You’ll need to massage especially around your perineum and the base of your penis, paying careful attention to increase blood flow in the penile chambers.

Penile massage is great for improving blood circulation and increasing erection quality. The way you perform penile massage is very important to your penile shrinkage problem. Doing it the right way could save you weeks of penis panic. It’s really worth paying some attention to following the methods correctly to get optimal results.

Improving Lifestyle

Your lifestyle can be dramatically improved by tweaking a few aspects of it and increasing vitality and health levels. This will help to boost your erections, make your penis seem bigger and help you to feel confident again. Eat more organic food and avoid packaged food that has come into contact with plastic. Some plastics actually leech chemicals which can have a dampening effect on male testosterone levels.

Reduce your intake of white carbs and eat more vegetables, lean white meats, eggs and fish. Get into shape and detox your body in whatever way possible.

The causes of your penis shrinking are probably more to do with male hormones rather than any disease or problem you think you may have. Address the root cause of the problem by following the above advice and you’ll reverse your penile shrinkage in just a few weeks.

I’m constantly asked, what could I do after break up while I’m still attached to a guy? My solution has always been this, how do you wish to feel? I acknowledge that this is not the answer you’ve hoped for but it’s odd that someone you used to love so much, the one you sacrificed everything, turns out offending you the most. What to Do If You're Suffering From Gastroenteritis

Gastroenteritis is frequently connected with diarrhea given it occurs most often in the home ordinarily resulting from poor hygiene. Pre-cooked meats particularly chicken, raw egg dishes and shellfish are the most frequent causes of bacterial and viral gastroenteritis. Further culprits include foods which are past their sell by dates. Seafood's and to some extent dairy products, often smell bad when they have gone off, but this does not always the case with other foods. It is therefore extremely important to store food correctly and always consume before its use by date.

Gastroenteritis is a swelling of the lining of the stomach and intestines, frequently accompanied with acute diarrhea and vomiting, mild fever and stomach cramps. Gastroenteritis attacks can take from anywhere between six hours to 3 days to pass. Symptoms ordinarily are caused by toxins produced by bacteria in the food or by a swelling of the intestine through having a virus or bacteria being present. Ordinarily, food poisoning results in a much quicker onset of symptoms, which can strike the sufferer within the hour of eating infected foods.

Some individuals can suffer a form of allergic gastroenteritis. This is usually identified by their being no evidence of food poisoning or excessive smoking, drinking coffee, or alcohol consumption. In these cases food allergies could well be the cause of severe and prolonged bouts of gastric discomfort. A further common cause of gastroenteritis particularly in young women, is the abuse of laxatives which are used to help prevent weight gain.

If you are suffering from gastroenteritis consume only liquids to begin with in an attempt to not irritate your gut any further. Re-hydration solutions which are made up of dilate sugar and salt solutions are far more effective than water by itself. Eating only bananas, boiled rice, dry toast, and apple's often helps to relieve discomfort caused by gastroenteritis. Bananas are an excellent source of potassium, this helps to balance the body's fluid supply and like rice, bananas are additionally rich in carbohydrates which are required by the body to assist in rebuilding your energy stores. Dry white toast is known to help calm your stomach and also provides a good source of carbohydrates for your energy levels. If you consume small amounts of these for foods at regular intervals and after two days start to introduce potatoes and cooked vegetables, you should be able to gradually return to a normal diet.

Horse Ulcers – Nutrition For Horses Who Have Had Ulcers in the Past

Horse health care is one thing. Caring for a horse who has a history of ulcers is something else altogether. Owners of horses who have had ulcers in the past are super-sensitive to any signs of possible new ulcers forming, whether it be a horse leaving his feed or experiencing a mild colic.

These owners all want to know: “What should I do if I think my horse is possibly developing another ulcer?”

Luckily, the answer is simple and cost-effective:

Treating Possible Horse Ulcers with Prevention

Once a horse has fully recovered from an ulcer, the best way to prevent the formation of new ulcers is to put him on a nutritional maintenance program that will keep him healthy.

The simplest and most effective nutritional supplement I have found to keep ulcer-prone horses healthy is the Essentials from Simplexity Health. The Essentials are convenient daily packs of supplements that include:

· 2 forms of blue-green algae (with and without the cell wall)

· acidophilus

· bifidus

· enzymes

When fed on a daily basis, this balanced mix of supplements keeps a horse’s gut healthy. The probiotics (acidophilus and bifidus) keep the population of “good bacteria,” or gut flora, in the horse’s small and large intestines flourishing. This is important because healthy gut flora prevents foreign invaders from taking over and causing ulcers. Probiotics also play a big role in healthy digestion.

The enzymes also play a crucial role in digestion, especially for horses who have trouble assimilating nutrients or have inherently poor digestion. Finally, the two forms of blue-green algae provide a nutrient-dense supply of vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals. These nutrients help to heal horse ulcers as soon as they start to form.

In short, the Essentials provide your horse’s body with everything it needs to maintain a healthy gut, and repair any ulcers that may begin to form. For maintenance, I recommend 1-2 packets of Simplexity Essentials daily, depending on the horse’s temperament.

Preventing Horse Ulcers When a Horse is Stressed

Feeding the Simplexity Essentials is an excellent way to prevent horse ulcers when a horse is in his normal routine. However, if a horse with a history of ulcers is going to be stressed, I recommend feeding additional supplements to prevent the formation of new ulcers.

Horses can be stressed by any number of factors, including travel, horse shows, heavy training, a new environment, or an abrupt change in weather. As a horse owner, you know best which factors stress your horse. If you know that you horse is going to be stressed, you can prevent him from developing new ulcers by supplementing his feed with ulcer-preventive substances beforehand.

For instance, if you know that your horse is stressed by long trips, in addition to feeding the Essentials, you might add green clay, Stomach Soother, SUCCEED, or KLPP and UF to his diet a day or two before you leave. The key is to feed him whatever nutritional supplement helped him heal from his original ulcer.

Depending on what kind of ulcers your horse is prone to, the supplement of choice could range from slippery elm and aloe to green clay or Stomach Soother. Not all horse ulcers are the same, so they can’t all be treated the same way.

Treating Different Types of Horse Ulcers

Because you know your horse best, you know which kinds of ulcers he is most prone to and what supplements work best for him. Keep these supplements on hand to feed before you stress him, or at the first sign of a newly developing ulcer. If, for example, your horse has a mild colic because of a weather change, and he responds well to Stomach Soother, add that to his diet for a few days until his symptoms subside. When paired with the Essentials, the Stomach Soother will prevent the formation of new ulcers… and save you a big vet bill in the process.

Prevention Really is the Best Medicine

I’ve compared case studies of horse ulcers treated with conventional medicine and holistic care. Over and over again, I see that the horses who are treated with holistic care, which focuses on a solid nutritional program and preventative care, are not only happier and healthier over all, but cost their owners less money in the long run.

A solid nutritional program that is designed specifically for your horse’s nutritional and temperamental needs is definitely a form of prevention against horse ulcers and all kinds of other acute and chronic health conditions. While the ongoing monthly costs of this kind of program may seem a bit higher than a “no frills grass hay” diet, ultimately a nutritional program like this will save you money and heartache.

Lemon Juice Health Benefits

Lemonade is known to have been used as a refreshing drink since the time of the Moguls. Modem investigations have tended to support this use, the essential oil being very good for cooling the body. This use can be extended to the employment of lemon juice with water and sugar as the best drink to take when you have a fever

When the temperature of the body is high, whether from the effects of the sun or from the results of illness, it is necessary to take regular drinks in order to prevent dehydration. Sugar is not normally a desirable part of a healthy diet, nevertheless it has its part to play with lemon, and although there is no doubt that the addition of honey if available is very much to be preferred.

The high vitamin C content of the lemon has been used for hundreds of years to ward off scurvy among sailors and travelers. There is little sodium, so the fruit is good as a flavoring for those on a low salt diet.

Because in some countries the producers of lemons extend their keeping properties and improve appearance by coating them with the chemical diphenyl and waxing the fruits, it is a wise precaution to wash the lemon with a little unscented soap and then rinse thoroughly before converting the whole fruit to juice.

The pulp left from the juicing is excellent for the skin and can also soothe the bites and stings of insects. If you add equal parts of toilet water and of glycerin to the residue the mixture can be made to keep the hands smooth.

Doctors Morel and Rochaix demonstrated that the extract of lemon when vaporized will neutralize the bacteria of meningococcus, typhoid, pneumococcus and staphylococcus in from 15 to 180 minutes.

A gastronomically inclined Frenchman, Charles Richet, is said by Dr Valnet to have discovered that the lemon juice added to raw oysters before eating them destroys 92% of the bacteria present within 15 minutes. A good reason to wait before you eat!

This information is relevant to the idea that lemon juice is a most important therapy to be used in all cases of infection of the respiratory tract and as a general tonic.

Provided that the juice is diluted with water, there is no danger in taking any reasonable quantity of lemon juice. Be sure to choose firm, clear colored lemons that have not begun to wither. The first signs of ageing can be spotted where the stem was once attached to the fruit.

Stress Symptoms – Five More Physical Warning Signs That Tell You to Give Yourself a Break

You'd think that stress symptoms are hard to miss. But we're often in denial. Chances are you know if you're badly in need of relief but do not know how to go about getting it. So here's some ammunition to justify taking a break. And there's nothing quite so convincing as physical warning signs. Here are five that tell you to take it easy already.

1. Are you overweight? Are you embarrassed by too much belly fat ?

For the longest time, people used to think that stress causes weight loss, not weight gain. That may be true for some, but most of us tend to put on the pounds. And not just anywhere. Cortisol, the stress hormone, literally causes the body to accumulate the wobbly stuff right up front and center and makes it almost impossible to take it back off.

2. Do you have trouble falling asleep or sleeping long enough?

Once again, sleeping trouble can be a sign of too much stress. And since sleep is so crucial for recovery, stress-induced insomnia often starts a vicious cycle.

3. Do you have heartburn, hyperacidity, GERD, or indigestion?

If you're plagued by heartburn, GERD, or indigestion, maybe what you need is not another dose of antacids but a massage and a nice hot bath, not necessarily in that order. And a day off.

4. Do you get sick a lot?

When someone sneezes at the office, are you the first to catch it? Do you have allergies or skin rashes? These are all signs that your immune system has begun to suffer. It's time to take a legal U-turn.

5. Is your blood pressure too high?

Elevated blood pressure is a natural extension of long-term (and even short-term) stress. Unfortunately, this is one symptom that you may not be able to detect on your own unless you're in the habit of checking your own blood pressure.

Now you're going to think I'm a bit nuts, but guess what? If you're under a lot of stress, do your heart and your blood vessels a favor and get yourself a personal blood pressure measuring gadget. I mean it, especially if you already know your blood pressure is borderline high. Or if you have a family history of hypertension. You can find blood pressure meters at any pharmacy or drugstore. They're way cheaper and less hard on your system than blood pressure medication.

How many of these symptoms do you have ?

If you have even one of them, give yourself a break. You're human. Your body is the only one you'll ever have in this lifetime. Treat it accordingly and make it last. As a bonus, you'll enjoy your life a whole lot more as well.

Take Precaution Now with the Latest Breast and Colon Cancer Screenings

Patients with a personal history of either Breast and Colon Cancer should begin periodic screening at the recommended age upon discussing with your physician to detect any problem before it causes symptoms. For individuals with a family history of any type of cancer, a thorough evaluation of the family’s medical history will guide the need and time to offer genetic testing so it will impact the clinical care.

An average to high risk due to a personal history, along with a clinical breast exam and screening with mammogram should start at age 30. The use of MRI should be discussed with your physician. An average to high risk due to family history of any genetic mutation, a diagnostic genetic testing 10 years before the youngest diagnosis in the family is recommended.

An average risk should get a periodic screening test beginning age 50. An increased risk of colorectal cancer due to positive screening test, should discuss with his physician about clinically relevant procedures. An increased risk of colorectal cancer due to known family history, may require screenings from an earlier age along with a genetic testing before age 50 to identify pre-disposition to be able to manage treatment.

Breast cancers found during screening tests are more likely to be smaller and still confined to the breast. The size of a breast cancer and how far it has spread are some of the most important factors in predicting the prognosis of a woman with this disease. Today, colorectal polyps are more often found during regular screenings and removed before they can develop into cancer. It can take as many as 10 to 15 years for a polyp to develop into colorectal cancer. When colorectal cancer is found at an early stage before it has spread, the 5-year relative survival rate is about 90 percent. But only about 4 out of 10 colorectal cancers are found at this early stage. When cancer has spread outside the colon or rectum, survival rates are lower.

Having polyps found and removed can help some people from getting colorectal cancer. Prevention (and not just finding it early) should be a major reason for getting tested. Below are some tests that have the best chance of finding polyps and/or cancer:

Flexible sigmoidoscopy* Colonoscopy Double-contrast barium enema* CT colonography (virtual colonoscopy)* (*Colonoscopy should be done if test results are positive)

Guaiac-based fecal occult blood test (gFOBT)* Fecal immunochemical test (FIT)* Stool DNA test* Colonoscopy should be done if test results are positive

About 5 to 10 percent of people who develop colorectal cancer have inherited gene defects (mutations), 19 genes with known association that can cause family cancer syndromes

All women should be familiar with how their breasts normally look and feel and notice symptoms such as lumps, pain, or changes in size that may be of concern.

Mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms.

The American Cancer Society believes the use of mammograms and MRI together will offer women with high risk the best chance to reduce their risk of breast cancer.

About 5 to 10 percent of breast cancer cases are thought to be hereditary, meaning they result directly from gene defects (mutations) passed on from a parent. There are around 18 genes with known association to breast cancer

How to Treat Problem Periorbital Dermatitis

Periorbital dermatitis is an irritating and painful condition that may appear alone or in conjunction with another form of dermatitis. The symptoms include redness, itching, flaking, pain and irritation in the lower eyelids and the skin surrounding the eyes.

The literal translation of dermatitis is skin inflammation. The obvious cause is inflammation. But, what causes the inflammation?

• The Causes of Inflammation

Inflammation may be acute or chronic. The acute type accompanies infections and injuries of all kinds. It is part of the body’s natural way of fighting disease and healing injuries.

Chronic inflammation is a problem for many people according to researchers. It plays a role in serious diseases like cancer and heart disease.

The causes of chronic inflammation include:

– Exposure to allergens or irritants such as smoke and common ingredients in skincare products

– Too many simple carbohydrates in the diet

– A lack of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet

– Allergens and irritants in skincare products are common causes of all types of dermatitis.

• The Cures for Inflammation

Acute inflammation will typically run its course, lasting only a few days or a few weeks in the case of more serious injuries. Chronic inflammation can be addressed by avoiding irritants and allergens, changing the diet or increasing one’s intake of omega-3 fatty acids. You could take a fish oil supplement to do that. To help heal periorbital dermatitis, the use of a nourishing eye serum is recommended.

• Why an Eye Serum Will Work

Not all eye serums will work. The right one will help heal periorbital dermatitis, because of the ingredients it contains. Most eye serums contain artificial preservatives and added fragrances that can actually make the problem worse. You need one that contains none of those irritating ingredients. It does contain natural anti-inflammatories and anti-irritants. The combined ingredients work to promote healing by stimulating the body’s natural rejuvenation processes. All together there are 10 special ingredients that provide numerous benefits.

• What are the Benefits You Will See and Feel?

The first benefit you will feel is less pain and irritation. The ingredients Functional Keratin and Babassu wax provide those benefits by reducing inflammation and irritation. Any itching should be relieved nearly immediately, because of Babassu wax. Within a few days, if not immediately, you should notice less redness, because of the anti-inflammatory activity of Functional Keratin.

You should notice less flaking immediately, because flaking is a symptom of excessive dryness. All of the ingredients in eye contour serum are moisturizing, but Functional Keratin actually improves the skin’s ability to retain moisture, which means that dryness around your eyes should be a thing of the past.

If you continue to use the eye serum, not only will you see an end to periorbital dermatitis, the skin around your eyes will appear more youthful. Functional Keratin and another ingredient called coenzyme Q10 work to reduce wrinkles and de-age the skin.

• Additional Recommendations

If you have periorbital dermatitis, you probably have dryness, redness and irritation on other parts of your face. An all natural day cream will take care of that problem. It contains many of the same ingredients found in the eye serum, plus a few others to address the causes of the visible signs of aging.

You should avoid rubbing your eyes and limit the use of cosmetics on your lashes and lids, at least until the problem is resolved. Your makeup could be contributing to your problem.

Periorbital dermatitis is not something you have to live with. By using natural anti-inflammatories, you can cure the condition, quickly.

So You Want 20-20 Vision? Unbelievably Simple Eye Exercises to Help Your Dry Eye

One thing that you can do is to break up your computer activity by going to the gym and exercising. This can definitely relax you and take away the stress from all that computer work. It you are not a gym goer, do something else, go shopping, sit in the garden anything but take that break. It's really important to have a break.

Doing hard, physical labour for 8 hours vs. 8 hours in front of a computer has shown me that the computer work is a lot more tiring and stressful. We just do not realise this and we are spending more and more time on some form of screen and not realising it.

Take regular 5 minute breaks to get a glass of water or cup of tea to break the day up. Going for a short walk helps too, there's nothing better than fresh air to revitalise you and give your eyes a boost and prevent common problems such as eye strain and dry eye.

Getting half an hours exercise in a day (even if it's just walking) usually helps your dry eyes and your whole body!

A little exercise you can do is the "20/20" rule – every 20 minutes, look twenty feet away for twenty seconds. Helps refresh the eyes, will moisture them and alleviate symptoms of dry eye.

Having a pet is a great way to keep from getting so focused on the work. Whether it is a dog that wants to go for a walk, or a cat that wants to sleep on the keyboard, you'll always have to keep an eye on them!

It's good to do eye exercises and eye stretching so close your eyes and squeeze the eye muscles inwards, this draws more blood and energy to your eye balls. Also stop working sometimes for a 30 sec's to a minute and close your eyes and gently rub your fingers over them.

Get up from your desk every hour or so and splash your eyes with cold water. Immediately after doing this, blow on your palms to warm them up and place them on your eyes. It really works!

There is a lot of information widely available about how to set up your work station to avoid eye strain and other health issues. Find out all you can about this and make the necessary arrangements, you will be glad you did.

Are Platelet Inhibiting Prescription Drugs Used for Heart Attack Prevention Helpful?

Since aspirin can be picked up in any drug store for mere pennies a pill, the drug companies looked for something that did the same thing but that required a prescription, and that they could argue was better than aspirin or that added to aspirin. Clopidogrel (Plavix) is a pill that is promoted as complementing the effects of aspirin on inhibition of the cyclooxygenase pathway, which is said to work with aspirin by blocking platelets and therefore inhibiting blood clotting, thus preventing heart attacks. The Clopidogrel versus Aspirin in Patients at Risk of Ischaemic Events (CAPRIE) Trial randomly assigned 19185 patients with a history of recent stroke or heart attack to receive clopidogrel or aspirin for 2 years. Patients on clopidogrel had a 5.32% annual rate of a composite measure of stroke, heart attack, or vascular death, compared with 5.83% on aspirin, a difference that was barely statistically significant (CAPRIE 1996).

The CHARISMA trial involved 15,603 patients with heart disease or risk factors for heart disease who were given clopidogrel plus aspirin or aspirin alone. There was no difference between the groups in combined incidence of heart attack, stroke, or death from cardiovascular causes (Bhatt et al 2006). In the CLOpidogrel and Metoprolol Infarction Trial (COMMIT) 45852 patients with a heart attack within the past 24 hours were given clopidogrel or placebo in addition to aspirin. Clopidogrel patients had a 9% reduction in a combined measure of death, heart attack or stroke, a difference that was statistically significant (COMMIT 2006) An analysis of all of the published studies showed a 10% reduction in heart attacks and strokes in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease when clopidogrel was added to aspirin (ATC 2002). These differences, however, translate into a less than 1% reduction in absolute risk.

In the Management of ATherothrombosis with Clopidogrel in High-risk patients (MATCH) (Diener et al 2004) study 7599 patients with recent stroke or TIA with one other risk factor for heart disease were randomly assigned to receive clopidogrel or clopidogrel plus aspirin. There was no difference in rates of combined stroke, heart attack, or hospitalization between clopidogrel (17%) and clopidogrel plus aspirin (16%); a 1.3% increase in bleeding was not statistically significant. In a study of 320 patients who had developed a bleeding ulcer while taking aspirin to prevent heart disease, after the patients' ulcers healed they were randomized for a year to re-treatment with aspirin or clopidogrel. All of them also received esomeprazole. The patients who took clopidogrel had more gastrointestinal bleeding (8.6%) than aspirin patients (0.7%), a difference that is striking (Chan et al 2005).

Based on these conflicting results and the overall small benefit conferred in addition to the higher cost of clopidogrel I recommend using aspirin over clopidogrel if you have a history of heart attack or stroke. I would not consider it mandatory (or useful) to take either if you do not have a history of heart disease.

Heart Attack Risk Factors – What Can You Control?

Coronary heart disease and its ensuing heart attacks have many risk factors identified by extensive research. Some of these factors are controllable, and some are not. The more risk factors you have, the greater your chances of suffering from a heart attack. Are you at risk? Below, read about five heart attack risk factors you can control.

Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to significant heart damage. If you have diabetes, make sure you eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and routinely take your medication prescribed by your doctor to control blood sugar levels.

Obesity / Physical inactivity

Get off the couch and move! A sedentary lifestyle lacking in sufficient exercise increases the chance for developing coronary heart disease. Regular exercise helps the heart and can also control obesity, blood cholesterol, and blood pressure, all of which add to your risk for having a heart attack. Studies have shown that high levels of body fat, especially around the waist, lead to an increased risk of developing heart disease. Extra weight increases the heart's workload, so by losing as few as 10 pounds, you can lower your risk. Even just 30 minutes of exercise per day can be beneficial. Consult your doctor to ask about diet and exercise plans to help you reach a healthy weight.

Tobacco use

While stopping smoking is not easy, it is extremely important to your heart's health, because cigarette smoking is a major cause of coronary heart disease. Indeed, smokers develop heart disease at two to four times the rate of nonsmokers. Cigarette smoking increases blood pressure and the blood's tendency to clot and decreases good blood cholesterol. Exposure to other people's tobacco smoke can also increase the risk, even in nonsmokers. More importantly, when smoking is combined with other factors, your chances of having a heart attack go up dramatically.

Psychosocial factors

Learning to control stress and the way you respond to it can be in important contributing factor to developing heart disease. Stress and anger may also influence other factors, because they may cause people to overeat, begin smoking or smoke more than usual, drink alcohol to excess, or turn to illegal drugs, all of which contribute to heart disease. While we all face stress in our daily lives, research shows that meditation, deep breathing exercises, massage, anger management, and other relaxation techniques can help you to better deal with those stresses.

High blood pressure and high cholesterol

High blood pressure overworks your heart, causing it to thicken and become stiffer. When combined with high blood cholesterol, obesity, smoking, or diabetes, the risk of heart attack increases. Animal fats (or saturated fats) found in red meat, dairy and fried foods can all contribute to high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Salt is another culprit. Look for healthier options. A low-sodium diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and grains along with medication can be useful in lowering high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol. Also, incorporating foods containing plant sterols (for example, cholesterol-lowering margarine) can also help to lower blood cholesterol.

Unfortunately, heart disease usually exhibits no symptoms before a heart attack occurs; therefore, preventive screening is extremely important. Mobile screening companies offer easy, non-invasive tests to identify your risk of heart disease through determining if you have developed peripheral arterial disease, which leaves you four to six times more likely to die from a heart attack. Mobile screenings, usually held in local gyms, churches, or community centers, are extremely convenient, usually only taking a few minutes out of your busy day, and they can save your life.
