Should I Take a Daily Aspirin to Prevent a Heart Attack?

We’ve all heard about the importance of aspirin for the prevention of heat disease. But is it really true?

A recent analysis of the published literature of people without heart disease examined a total of 51,342 women and 44,114 men from a range of studies who did not heart disease but had risk factors for heart disease (Berger et al 2006). Daily aspirin in women reduced cardiovascular disease by 12%, which was statistically significant, with a 17% reduction in stroke and no effect on heart attacks or cardiovascular mortality. However for any given woman, the absolute risk reduction, or how much the risk of heart attack was reduced in that individual, was only 0.3% over a six year period. And aspirin increased the risk of major bleeding by 68%. For men there was a 14% reduction of cardiovascular events primarily related to a 32% reduction in heart attacks with no effect on strokes or cardiovascular mortality. That translated into a .37% absolute reduction over a six year period. And men had a 72% increase in major bleeding. Aspirin did not save any lives in men or women. And for every stroke in women or heart attack in men that is prevented by aspirin, there is one major gastrointestinal bleeding event caused by aspirin. Based on this I do not recommend taking aspirin if you don’t have heart disease.

For men with a history of heart disease, taking baby aspirin every day can reduce your risk of death from heart disease by about 17% (ATC 2002). Translated, this means you are reducing your risk by about 1% per year. Although technically the risk of stomach bleeding is outweighed by the heart benefits of aspirin (which can only be shown when large numbers of patients are studied), in terms of what that means to you the differences are not that great. If you don’t mind taking it, you can get some advantage, but not as much as you think. Don’t forget that it is more important to use your energies to walk around the block or do some other activity that can be beneficial.

In patients with strokes or transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) aspirin plus dipyridamole (a blood vessel dilator) was shown to be associated with a 13% rate of cardiovascular event compared to 16% on aspirin alone, a difference that was statistically significant (Esprit 2006).

Stress Management – 7 Coping Skills for Stress Relief

Stress management is the controlling and reducing of tension that occurs in stressful situations. Everyone copes with stress everyday. “I’m SO stressed out!” – It seems like you hear it all the time from nearly every one you know . Most people are unprepared to deal with stressors that trigger feelings that can make us sick. Literally, sick.

The statistics are staggering. Research conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health has shown that anxiety disorders are the number one mental health problem among American women and are second only to alcohol and drug abuse by men. One in every eight Americans age 18-54 suffers from an anxiety disorder. This totals over 19 million people! Anxiety is the most common mental health issue facing adults over the age of 65. Treating anxiety disorders costs the U.S. $46.6 billion annually.

Health Psychology magazine reports that chronic stress can interfere with the normal function of the body’s immune system. And studies have proven that stressed individuals are more vulnerable to allergic, autoimmune, and cardiovascular diseases.

Stress often prompts people to respond in unhealthy ways such as smoking, drinking alcohol, eating poorly, or becoming physically inactive. This causes damage to the mind and body.

There are 3 common types of stress:

Mini-stress – the annoying hassles of day to day life: – Heavy traffic – Cells phones with no power

Moderate-stress – the more significant day-to-day hassles that comes from deadlines and time pressures constraints – Project deadline at work – Holidays

Severe-stress – those events that are traumatic long term or permanent – Divorce or separation – Loss of job

Although there is no definitive answer to any of specific stressor you may experience, it’s your coping skills that support your ability to manage stress.

Here are 7 coping skills to stress proof your life.

1.Know how to relax – find a quiet place, get comfy make sure your body is well supported. Breath slowly and deeply.

2. Eat right and exercise often – avoid caffeine and refined sugar, eat dairy products which may improve your mood. Make exercise a part of your daily life-even if it’s only taking the stairs instead of the elevator or parking at the far end of the lot.

3. Learn it is OK to say ‘no’. Often, many of us feel we have to say ‘yes’ to everyone, every time we’re asked for help. You can’t be all things to all people. You must first meet your own needs before you can truly give others what they need.

4. Take a mini-vacation from stress. If you can find fifteen minutes a day, or one hour a week if daily isn’t possible, make a date with yourself. Schedule a walk around the block, lunch in the park, a sunrise or sunset alone, a bubble bath without interruptions.

5. Make time for yourself, your number one priority; once your own needs are met you will find you have more time for others. And you may find more pleasure in helping others when you don’t feel that you must always put others needs before your own.

6. Go outside and enjoy Mother Nature. A little sunshine and activity can have amazing ramifications on your stress level and will enhance your entire outlook towards life. Your improved attitude will have a positive effect on everyone. Not only will you be less stressed, you will be healthier, happier, and more energetic; ready to face whatever obstacles come your way.

7. Have a good sense of humor. Be a resource to yourself. Try something new, learn to play again. Laugh. Laughter releases endorphins, chemicals in the brain that restore calm.

Stress management and how you cope with stress is part of your daily life. It’s how you react to stress that makes all the difference in maintaining your health and well-being. Just like causes of stress differ from person to person, what relieves stress is not the same for everyone. You’ll never completely get rid of stress, but you can learn to manage stress with coping techniques that work for you. I hope that I’ve given you some great ideas on how you can deal with stress.

Panic Attack Self Help – The Destructive Power of Negative Suggestion

If you've been looking, unsuccessfully, for some great panic attack self help ideas, then perhaps you should consider the power of negative suggestions.

Throughout our lives, we're constantly faced with negative suggestions – "Beware" signs, "Do not Hit Your Head" signs, "Do not Run With Scissors." You get the idea. But here's the problem with all these negative suggestions: the more we try to avoid doing something, the more likely we are to actually go ahead and do it.

In its simplest form, this is often simply a rebellious desire to do something that society, or our own brain, is telling us not to do. But in its more complex form, it's a very dangerous and subconscious power that our minds have over us.

Think for a moment about the words your mind speaks to you on a daily basis regarding your panic attacks. In a busy area, when you feel flustered, you may tell yourself over and over again, "Do not have a panic attack, do not have a panic attack." If you experience a physical symptom that's caused by your anxiety, such as palpitations, for example, you may repeat in your head again and again, "I'm not having a heart attack, I'm not having a heart attack."

On a basic level, you're doing a good thing – you're reassuring yourself.

But on a deeper level, and on a level that's still very real to your subconscious, your mind is yelling at you the thoughts you're trying hardest not to have. So, "Do not have a panic attack, do not have a panic attack" becomes "Have a panic attack! Have a panic attack!" And "I'm not having a heart attack, I'm not having a heart attack" becomes "Having a heart attack! Having a heart attack!"

If you want proof that negative suggestions do, in fact, affect all of us in this way, then try this little test.

I want you to try as hard as you can not to think of an elephant.

My command to you was not to think of an elephant, but the command "think of an elephant" is still embedded in there, and your mind finds it impossible not to think of an elephant. The moment I gave you a command not to think of an elephant, an image of one appeared in your mind.

And the thoughts that are inspired by your panic and anxiety disorders are no different.

Simply being aware of how negative suggestion has the power to worsen your problems with panic and anxiety will allow you to alter very slightly the way you think, and instantly create a better frame of mind that's more beneficial in fighting off panic attacks and the horrible things associated with them.

The key is to turn your negative suggestion thinking into positive suggestion thinking. So instead of the thought "Do not have a panic attack," which in your head becomes "Have a panic attack," you can think something more along the lines of, "I'll be okay," or "This will pass and I'll be fine again. " Notice in those last two thoughts that there are no concealed negative suggestions hiding in there.

Now that you're aware of the destructive nature of negative suggestions, you'll discover that you experience them on a very frequent basis. But now that you know how to recognize them, you will be able to nip them in the bud, and eventually be able to cut them out of your thoughts completely.

This simple reorganizing of your thoughts is an incredibly powerful strategy, and one of the most beneficial panic attack self help concepts that you should make a part of your life from this point on.

How to Prevent Cancer, Heart Disease, and Diabetes Q and A

You've Gotta Be Kidding, Right?

Questions from People Afraid of Being Diagnosed with Cancer, Heart Disease

Q: I am afraid of being diagnosed with cancer, cardiovascular disease, or diabetes. Many of my friends have contracted these scary diseases and some have even died. Is not there some way to prevent cancer, prevent cardiovascular disease, or prevent Type 2 Diabetes?

A: Based upon more than 354,000 healthcare studies, there is indeed a very simple, natural way to prevent these age-related degenerative diseases. Yes, these diseases are absolutely preventable.

Q: So you are saying that age-related diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease are preventable? This is astounding news! Why do you think more Americans are not aware of this fact?

A: The problem is that no one in our healthcare system, which is really a disease care system that treats these diseases once you have contracted them, is telling us how to prevent them in the first place. This is probably because there is much more money to be made in treating these terrifying diseases than in preventing them. I look at this situation as an astonishing failure of our healthcare system, that's right, a failure. I would imagine that an enormous number of people would take steps to protect their health if they knew that such protection exists right under their fingertips.

Q: So why are we contracting these horrible diseases and how do we prevent them?

A: Well, the major reason we Americans are contracting cancer, heart disease, strokes, and diabetes is because of our fast-paced lifestyle. Our bodies were not designed for such a lifestyle. I recently saw an episode of the Dr. Oz Show on TV where he determined the disease readiness of the people in his audience using a new type of scientific scan, and over 85% of his audience was unprepared healthwise to prevent major diseases. This is typical of our society today. We are eating the wrong foods, overweight, not getting enough exercise, we are stressed out and sleep deprived, and we do not get enough dietary supplements.

Q: What do you recommend for people to improve their health and prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, macular degeneration, osteopororis, and other often fatal diseases?

A: To achieve the goals of improved health, energy, and disease protection we must do the following.

# 1: We must lose weight into the healthy range, which is a body mass index (BMI) of 23 or less.
# 2: We must begin a program of moderate exercise after consultation with our doctor.
# 3: We must replace unhealthy foods with healthy ones. Reduce or eliminate fatty and fried foods, dairy products, meat, and sugary foods. Increase raw foods such as fruits and vegetables, nuts, soy products such as soy milk.

# 4: Eliminate high protein and fat diets. High protein diets result in the reduction of calcium, which leads to bone degenerative diseases such as osteoporosis.
# 5: Chew our food more completely, which leads to improved digestion and fewer cases of colon cancer and diverticulitis.
# 6: Get a scan of your antioxidant levels using a new, scientifically-proven scanner that scans the palm of your hand quickly and painlessly in your own home. The scan results will tell you how well you are preventing diseases and also the effects of any lifestyle change in diet, exercise, stress, sleep habits, etc.
# 7: Take dietary supplements of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The scanner mentioned above will tell you how effective these supplements are, as they all do not work well enough to prevent these diseases.

To conclude, these are certain guidelines that can be helpful in treating your sleeping disorders, but it is always best to seek medical advice.

Brain Cancer Survival Rate

Brain Cancer Survival Rate: Brain tumor is basically characterized by the abnormal or uncontrolled growth of cells in the brain. The brain tumors occur in the brain in two different ways – some tumors spread from a cancer affected part of the body to the brain, while some other tumors start their growth in the brain itself. Given below are the major symptoms of brain tumor.

Changes in personality are also observed in people suffering from brain tumor.

Over exposure to certain harmful chemicals can lead to brain tumor.

The brain tumor survival rates depend on various factors, such as the location of the brain tumor, the size and type of the brain tumor, stage of the brain tumor and whether the patient is suffering from any other ailment. The brain tumor survival rates are around eighty percent for those suffering from oligodendroglioma brain cancer.

Brain cancer remains one of the most incurable forms of cancer, with an average survival period of one to two years.

Factors Affecting Survival

Several factors can influence the five-year survival rate of cancer patients. These include the size of the tumor, its location in the brain, the type and severity of the cancer, the stage of the cancer and the overall health of the patient.

How Survival Rates are Calculated

Survival statistics are based on large numbers of people, and should not be used to predict the survival of an individual patient.

Age and Survival

A patient’s age has much to do with how long he will survive with brain cancer, as the odds decrease with age. According to, children to the age of 14 have a 73 percent chance of surviving five years, while the rate drops to 55 percent for young adults between 15 and 44. Middle-aged patients between 45 and 64 have a 16 percent survival rate, and the elderly have a survival rate of only 5 percent.

Other Facts

Despite the gloomy statistics, it has been shown that a combination of radiation treatment and chemotherapy can lengthen the life of brain cancer survivors, and in some cases, even improve the quality of life, while patients who forgo treatment do not live as long.

The Brain Cancer presented here are based on the relative survival rate. The overall 5-year relative brain cancer survival rate for 1995-2001 was 33.3 percent.

The 5-year relative survival rates for brain cancer by race and sex were as follows:

• 32.1 percent for Caucasian men

• 33.5 percent for Caucasian women

• 37.7 percent for African-American men

• 37.5 percent for African-American women.

Stage Four Brain Cancer Survival Rate Statistics reveals that mental stress and negative emotional is responsible for around 85% of physical disorders.

Negative Emotional And Cancer has No Direct Relation

There is no such direct connection of negative emotional and cancer, but it has been proven that negative emotional experiences and mental stress weakens the immunity system. How Negative Emotional Experiences Effect your Body?

After becoming a cancer patient, the quantity of stress and negative emotion increases automatically. The negative emotional experiences interrupt the energy flow in human body.

Tips for recovering from emotional loss.

-Effective solution for fighting Negative Emotional

This technique can be used for all types of cancers such as breast cancer, lung cancer, Bone cancer, braincancer, cervical cancer and stomach cancer.

Top 8 Causes of Foot Pain

Did you know that 75% of all Americans will suffer from foot pain at some point in their lives? A recent study by the American Podiatric Medical Association showed that the feet are the most overworked and also the most neglected part of the body. Unfortunately, many people ignore their feet until they are in pain. If you are experiencing acute or chronic foot pain, it is important to consult an experienced foot doctor in Houston to help get you moving again. Read on to learn about the top 8 most common causes of foot pain.

A bunion is a bony bump on the base of the big toe. This bump develops when the big toe pushes against the adjacent toe, causing the joint to swell and become enlarged. Bunions may develop as a result of wearing narrow shoes, but can also be caused by a genetic abnormality, stress on the foot, or arthritis. Bunions can be extremely painful and are typically treated with the use of orthotics, splinting, padding, or surgery.

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thin band of connective tissue that connects the front of your foot to your heel and supports your arch. The plantar fascia acts as a shock absorber for the foot and can develop small tears when damaged. This painful condition is common among individuals who are middle aged, athletes, or overweight. Treatment may includes ice, anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy, orthotics, steroid injections, and surgery.

Heel Spurs

Heel spurs are tiny calcium deposits that form on the heel bone. These painful protrusions are often associated with plantar fasciitis as they typically develop when the plantar fascia pulls away from the heel, but are also common in women and individuals with flat feet. Treatment for heel spurs may include anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy, orthotics, steroid injections, and surgery.

Osteoarthritis of the Foot and Ankle

Osteoarthritis is the gradual degeneration of the cartilage and bone in a joint. This type of arthritis is commonly found in the foot or ankle and caused by simple wear and tear. Treatment for osteoarthritis may include anti-inflammatory medications, steroid injections, physical therapy, and joint replacement surgery.

Diabetic Neuropathy

Diabetic neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes that causes nerve damage. This condition causes a tingling or burning pain and sometimes numbness in the feet. Treatment of diabetic neuropathy may include pain medication and the use of supportive shoes and braces.

Hammertoe is a deformity of the second, third, or fourth toe of the foot. This condition causes the toe to become bent at the middle joint, so it looks like a hammer. Hammertoes are commonly caused by a tendon imbalance or wearing shoes that do not fit properly. Treatment for hammertoes may include wearing proper shoes, using orthotics or splints, and surgery.

Morton’s Neuroma

Morton’s neuroma is a benign growth of nerve tissue found on the ball of the foot between the third and fourth toes. This condition is caused by injury, irritation, excessive pressure on the nerve that leads to the toes. Treatment of Morton’s neuroma may include the use of orthotics, pain medications, decompression surgery, or surgical removal of the nerve.

Ingrown Toenails

An ingrown toenail is an extremely painful condition that occurs when the corner of a toenail grows into the skin adjacent to the nail. This condition causes redness, swelling, pain, and infection around the toenail. Treatment for this condition includes removing the affected portion of the toenail and the use of pain and antibiotic medication. Minor cases of ingrown toenails may be treated at home, but more severe cases should be seen by a foot doctor in Houston for professional treatment.

Surgical Removal Of The Gall Bladder-Laparoscopy

The procedure of the removal of the gall bladder is Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. The gall bladder removal is one of the most commonly surgical procedure in the United States. In most people the removal of gall bladder has no effects on digestion. Gall bladder is a small organ situated beneath the liver, collecting bile. After each meal the bile is released into the small intestine through narrow tubular channels (bile ducts).

Gall bladder diseases are caused by the gallstones that form from bile salts and cholesterol in the gallbladder or in the bile ducts. There is hard to say why some people produce gallstones and others do not, gallstones block the bile ducts producing jaundice, sharp abdominal pain, vomiting, indigestion and fever. Gallstones are diagnosed with ultrasounds, but a treatment must be adopted because they do not go away on their own, the most safer and adequated procedure is the surgical remove of the gall bladder.

The advantages of the laparoscopically procedure are numerous.
There are only four small cuts in the abdomen, that's why there are no pains after the operation and the recovery of the patients is fast and they may return to their daily activities.
Laparoscopic procedure may not be suited if patients have an altered condition, and for those that have suffered previous abdominal surgery.

There are required some preparations before the operation such as: blood work, medical evaluation, chest X-rays and an EKG, after your surgeon explains you the risks and benefits of this kind of operation you have to write down your consent.
For 1-2 days before the operation you are advised to drink only clear liquids, to empty your intestines. You are recommended to take your medicines and take a shower in the morning before the operation. Anti-inflammatories and aspirins, vitamin E are stopped within a week before the surgery. Diet medications should not be used for two weeks before the operation, you should also quit smocking.

The procedure of the laparoscopic gall bladder removal is performed under general anesthesia, a cannula is introduced in the abdomen (close to the belly-button), the laparoscope is inserted through the cannula and the surgeon has a magnified image of the internal organs on a TV screen. With other cannulas the surgeon can remove the gall bladder through one of the openings. A cholangiogram, to identify stones, which may be located in the bile channels is indicated. These small incisions are closed with surgical tape or with some stitches.

The laparoscopic method is not indicated if the patient suffers of obesity, bleeding problems and inability to visualize organs. So for the patient's safety the classical open procedure is indicated. If fever, yellow skin and eyes, distention, worsening abdominal pain occurs it means that things have complicated and you have to address your surgeon. The studies have shown that bleeding, pneumonia, heart problems, infection, injury to the adjacent structures are the most frequent complications.

Symptoms of this condition

* coughing

* labored breathing

* shortness of breath

* chest pain or discomfort

* wheezing

* runny nose

* dizziness

* fever and chills

* body aches

* general malaise

These symptoms can vary [all at once or mixed and matched] in accordance to what the underlying cause is [flu, bronchitis etc]

* asthma

* croup

* bronchitis

* pneumonia

more serious and life threatening

* cystic fibrosis

* heart failure

* pulmonary edema

Treatments vary in accordance with the severity of the patients illness but in this article I am only going to deal with the non-life threatening [but still serious] chest congestion [the more serious chest problems need medical treatment as soon as possible]

Home remedies

Using a nebulizer [machine that warms a decongestant oil – karvol for example] will help relieve the congestion and ease any chest discomfort as it helps clear the airways of the patient by loosening the phlegm which is then easier to cough up.

Steam – this is also a great way to loosen any phlegm, boil a liter of water, pour into a bowl, add karvol [or any other decongestant med], get the patient to lean over the steam and cover their heads with a towel to keep the steam focused around the patients face while they inhale as deeply as possible.

Topical application – applying aromatherapy oils to the chest [eucalyptus, Clary sage, pine or rosemary for example] can also assist in the relieve of a congested chest.

Breathing exercises – there are yoga exercises out there that help strengthen the lungs and improve its capacity. Find a exercise to suit your needs and try do this daily.

Ensure the patient eats a diet that is rich in all the nutrients [especially vitamin C and E] the body needs, this will assist the immune system while it fights to clear the blocked airways. Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons etc are rich in vitamin C and this vitamin is very important in boosting the immune system at this time. Get the patient to drink as much herbal tea as they possibly can [at least 3x a day] as these contain many essential nutrients and can also assist in making the immune system stronger.

Whatever the outcome of the home remedies you have tried, always get some medical advice and medication from your doctor, this is a serious problem and can be a symptom of a more severe medical condition.

Bronchitis – Herbal Remedies

Bronchitis is a condition caused by the presence of harmful pathogens in the respiratory tract. These pathogens can either be bacterial or viral. The viruses mostly causing the condition include influenza, rhino virus, syncytial and adenoviridae virus. The symptoms experienced include an expectorant cough, shortness of breath, wheezing and occasional chest pains. Wheezing and chest pains are as a result of blockage of the airways causing difficulties in air passing through.

Other symptoms include fever, fatigue and headaches. Bronchitis herbal remedies should only be taken after a doctor's consultation. Most of the bronchitis infections are caused by viruses. These usually disappear in a matter of days. Therefore, one does not need a bronchitis herbal remedy for this. The condition caused by the presence of bacteria pathogens need to be medicated using antibiotics.

Bronchitis herbal antibiotics are available. These can only be taken after a diagnosis from a doctor and identifying the cause of the condition as a bacteria infection. The bronchitis herbal remedies can be taken with the permission from your doctor. He is also the one to prescribe which herbal remedy you can take.

When one is having an expectorant cough as a result of bacteria infection, an expectorant cough syrup is needed. This helps flash out all the harmful bacteria in the body by coughing them out. A bronchitis herbal expectorant cough syrup can be taken. This can be possible after getting a prescription from a doctor. Over the counter medication can be dangerous in the self treatment of bronchitis. You should avoid doing this. In most cases, the symptoms usually disappear in a matter of days. It should not take longer than a month for it to be completely healed.

Skull Fractures and Other Head Injuries

Head injuries caused by a variety of different things can be permanently harmful and even fatal. Although we have progressed mightily in the field of medicine and medical diagnostics, certain aspects of the brain still puzzle doctors. Thus, skull fractures and other types of head injuries are often serious and unable to be completely healed.

There are many things that can cause head injuries. Dangerous conditions can lead to damage, such as icy sidewalks, bad driving weather, and slippery floors. Additionally, negligence on behalf of those around us can lead to injuries. For example, if you work at a construction site, someone may improperly utilize the equipment, which can end up hurting you. Lastly, product defects such as a faulty bike helmet can contribute to head injury if you crash.

One frightening head injury is a skull fracture. We rely on our skulls to protect our brains from both nerve damage and infections. There are four basic types of skull breaks, which include:

Linear skull fractures – these are the most common type of break. It is fairly straightforward and often allows you to return to normal activity in several days. Basically, the bone breaks, but it is so slight that the skull itself does not move.

Diastatic skull fractures – these breaks occur along the lines of the sutures of our head. When we are babies, the skull is divided into several plates that fuse with age along lines called sutures. A diastatic fracture basically widens these lines of fusion.

Depressed skull fractures – as the name implies, part of the skull is pressed into the brain like a sink hole. This often requires surgery to get fixed.

Basilar skull fractures – a basilar fracture is the most dangerous type of injury. It is a break that happens at the base of the skull, which can often result in a tearing of the lining of the brain covering. Thus, people with this type of break often need hospital observation to help make sure that nothing goes seriously wrong.

Several other types of head injury classifications exist as well. First, you may just get a scrape or bruise, called a contusion. There are several more serious types of injuries, including concussions and several types of intracranial hematomas. All of these are potentially life-threatening.

If you or someone you know has suffered from a skull fracture or another head injury as a result of personal injury, you should consult the advice of an experienced lawyer to help you fight for your rights. How to Treat Blisters

Like any other cut or bruise, getting rid of blisters is a trial of patience and a test of your ability to not pick or scratch at the blister. That’s what crazy people do; crazy people pick at themselves, and you’re not crazy, are you? Blisters are good things. If you didn’t get blisters, your doctor would get worried. No blisters means your body may be suffering from some sort of immunodeficiency, which is bad. Blisters are the result of your body detecting damage and building up fluids that help repair your body and fight infection.

However, if a blister is punctured and forms an open wound and there are signs of infection such as pus draining from the blister, very red or warm skin around the blister, and red streaks leading away from the blister, this should be disinfected and bandaged. Loose bandaging of a blister is considered because tight bandaging can cause discomfort.

The first treatment is to use some lavender essential oil it helps repair skin cells, which speeds up healing of blisters. You can apply it directly on the blister using the pure oil treatment on the blister. Then cover it with a small bandage. Apply the oil two to three times a day. The next home treatment is to use horse chestnut. This herb reduces swelling by reducing the gathering of fluid in the blister.

Blister Beetles get their name from the fact that they contain a toxin called cantharidin that will make your skin break out in blisters if you come in contact with it. Usually you would need to touch a crushed beetle to break out, but some people can have an allergic reaction just from touching one of the beetles.

Blisters are often the result when there’s friction and irritation of the skin especially the feet and the hands. Shoes which are too tight cause blister to appear because of rubbing and friction of the skin’s feet. It is best not to wear shoes which are too tight for the feet. Just wear the right size and shape for the feet and gloves for the hands. Usually, blisters heal quickly without any more additional treatment.

Irritation. Burns of any kind, including sunburn, can cause blisters to form. Irritating chemicals coming in contact with the skin may also create blisters. Extremely cold conditions can result in frostbite, which can cause blisters when the skin is re-warmed. Also, eczema, a skin condition characterized by a persistent rash that may be red, dry, and itchy, can result in blister formation.

Herpes Simplex Virus (both 1 and 2) can cause blisters to appear on the mouth or genital areas.

A blister is an area of raised skin with a watery liquid inside. Blisters form on hands and feet from rubbing and pressure, but they form a lot more quickly than calluses. You can get blisters on your feet the same day you wear uncomfortable or poor-fitting shoes. You can get blisters on your hands if you forget to wear protective gloves when you’re using a hammer, a shovel, or even when you’re riding your bike.
