Arachnoid Cyst Awareness

Arachnoid Cyst Awareness, a non-profit organization, is the only organization of its kind. Its sole purpose is to educate and support Arachnoid Cyst patients and their families.

Aarchnoid Cysts are a very rare type of brain tumor that can have a severely debilitating effect on anyone unfortunate to have one.

In 2003 a young woman by the name of Dia DiCristino suffered eleven brain surgeries because of her Arachnoid Cyst and the problems it caused: Bacterial Meningitis, reaccumulation of the Arachnoid Cyst, Hydrocephalus, Paralysis and more. There was no organization at the time for someone like her to turn to, so she founded and created Arachnoid Cyst Awareness. Since 2003 thousands of Arachnoid Cyst patients and their family members have joined in the fight to raise awareness for the symptoms Arachnoid Cyst patients suffer from on a daily basis, that are often misdiagnosed or overlooked: dystonia, dysphagia, aphasia, spasticity, vertigo, severe headaches and backaches, and so many more.

In addition to supporting those with Arachnoid Cysts, ACA helps those with any related condition such as Dany Walker Syndrom, Chiari Malformation, Adhesive Arachnoiditis, Arachnoiditis, Hydrocephalus and Syringomyelia. Arachnoid Cyst patients can sometimes have one or two of these disorders of the brain: e.g. A person can have an Arachnoid Cyst in the brain and also Arachnoiditis of the spinal cord. Sometimes this comes about because of entire Arachnoid Membrane being diseased and scarred.

There are many organizations out there for brain tumors in general, but ACA is the only one dedicating itself solely to Arachnoid Cysts.

Stimulating Your Lover's Breast Can Send Her Into Orgasmic Ecstasy – Learn the Secrets

If your woman is capable of a breast orgasm, you are definitely going to want to give her one. The only way to find out is to give it a good try and see what happens. If it works, and she did not know it was possible, she'll think you're a god.

The best position set up for maximum stimulation

When most men attempt to do this, they want to lay chest to chest with their woman. This is not the best method for the best sensations, and it will not allow you to use your hands well to begin the foreplay. The best position is to have your lady straddle your hips and have her lower chest into your face. She can prop herself up with her hand and fully extend her arms down to the bed, which will make you pull up your neck, or she can literally lay right on top of you. Either method will work, it really just depends on size differences and how big you both are.

But by hanging down into you, it causes blood to rush to all the nerve endings in her glands and create a much more sensitive area to caress.

The technique that produces the most mind-bending orgasms

If you want your woman to really get an amazing climax, you want to start off with a few minutes of using your fingers to gently glide across the top of the breasts over the nipples, and just barely touching them. Then, you must transition into full mouth play. Most woman will peak by just sucking on the nipples and the surrounding tissue, but some cite that they really enjoy slight nibbling. Use these methods for about 5-10 minutes and you will start to get amazing results.

Condensation Problems at Home

Winter is upon us once again bringing not only colder temperatures and snow but many condensation and damp based problems for homeowners.

In order for us to eradicate these problems, we must first establish what causes them in the first place. One consistent problem within a home during the winter period is condensation.

Condensation occurs when moist air comes into contact with a surface of the building fabric which is at a lower temperature.

Air contains water vapor in various quantities. Its capacity to do so is related to its temperature. Warm air holds more moisture than cold air. When the moist air comes into contact with either colder air or a colder surface, the air is unable to retain the same amount of moisture and the water content is then released to form condensation into the air or onto a colder surface.

Condensation is generally visible where it forms on non-porous materials (windows, tiles, plastic ceiling or wall cladding) but it can form on any surface under the right conditions and it may not be noticed until mold growth becomes irrelevant.

The effects of moisture generation are most definitely made worse by insufficient ventilation. Certain areas of a home (such as bathrooms and kitchens) can generate up to a third of a dwellings moisture content. When the moist air then moves to cooler parts of the house, it will condense on any given cold surface.

With the vast improvement of energy conservation methods, buildings have become more airtight and better at retaining moisture and vapor content that is produced by homes inhabitants. This provides ideal conditions for condensation to occur. Ventilation is only effective if it's consistent through the entire building envelope. Condensation is also encouraged by poor air circulation where stale air can not move and forms behind furniture and in cupboard spaces. The first sign of this is often the visual appearance of mold growth.

Mold is a fungi that produces tiny tiny particles called spores. For a person with allergies or breathing difficulties, these tiny spores can trigger asthma, bronchitis and many other respiratory problems. When the spores settle onto a warm moist spot they will begin to germinate. The moisture that is present in a home becomes the perfect breeding ground for the mold to thrive on and grow.

If left unattended mould will continue to spread, damaging both the integrity of the homes building fabric and its occupant's health. Mold requires relative humidity levels from between 65% to 99% at the surface point at which it grows.

The vast majority of extractor fans stocked within the major UK DIY superstores will only operate on either a direct switched input or will have a maximum thirty minute timer overrun facility. If a fan were to run through its specified thirty minute overrun facility the RH% levels within a bathroom area would still remain at a high level suitable for sustained mold growth.

Those without ventilation altogether will simply choose not to leave the window of a wet room open during the colder months. Inhabitants of a home with an extractor fan installed will also very rarely leave the fan switched on for the required time frames to remove the relevant vapor content from within these wet areas.

Three solutions in which an occupant can eradicate this problem are;

1. Calculate the size of your room and the number of air-changes per hour required to achieve adequate airflow extraction rates. Select an extractor fan capable of moving the calculated air content.

2.Select a humidistat controlled extractor fan which will continue to operate until the vapor content from within the room's atmosphere has returned to present safe RH% levels to minimize mould growth.

3.Select an extractor fan that has background ventilation and continuously extracts vapor content from within a room's atmosphere 24/7.

The two most popular rooms to be renovated by homeowners are both the kitchen and the bathroom areas. They're also the two that inhabitors will generate the most moisture from.

Financially these rooms are also the most expensive to remodel, so if you're thinking about renovating you may want to think about doing a little bit groundwork to ensure you get your ventilation requirements right first time.

Stopping mold from growing is not only necessary for you to ensure a clean home it is also of paramount importance to ensure its occupant's health.

Detection of the Heart Attack After Recognizing Its Symptoms

If you get help during the first hour from the heart attack known as the golden hour you have great chances of recovery, people are often embarressed to go to the emergency room and see that everything is all right with them. Digestive disturbances and less serious conditions may suggest heart attack symptoms. Women may present different and atypical pain for example between the shoulder blades heart attacks vary from person to and situation to situation, a great mistake would be to delay presenting to the doctor and seeking treatment.

It is very important to receive the treatment as soon as possible because this really is a question of life and death. The precursor of the heart attack is the pain called angina.

Angina Pectoris

This pain known as angina pectoris is distinct, is described as a suffocating, strangulating pain more intense than pleurisy, indigestion, appears after physical effort, during stress, in emotional situations, the patient becomes suddenly anxious and afraid of death. When the heart beats faster its oxygen and nutritional needs are higher and the heart muscle suffers of those deficiency so then appears this pain called angina. This pain radiates in the arm, the left shoulder, neck, jaw and throat and occasionally on the right side.

Angina attacks lasts 15 minutes, if it takes long you should have a check up in the hospital, it may be a heart attack, if the angina doesn’t stop at administrating nitroglycerin or other nitrate and after rest and calm. Most victims of the heart attack are men, those suffering of angina pectoris have a sudden death and usually by heart attack.

Angina is considered by some doctors a gift made by God to the humans , because mortality is very high in heart diseases and people don’t know anything about their state of health and the health of their heart, so if you suffer from heart pain, particularly angina is a blessing. This way you may start a treatment and know when to stop, if you are receptive to your heart pain.

This way you may prevent a sudden death which is quite common in the heart diseases, because angina is an exclamation sign there is something wrong and you may seek a proper medical treatment and identify you risk factors which may cause you the heart attack.

Often heart attack is slowly with mild pain and the person in cause doesn’t understand what’s happening, on the other hand the heart attack might be intense and movie-like. If you announce the ambulance you’ll receive the best care against heart attack and in the shortest time. You should’t be driving by yourself unless you have no other option.

Cardiac enzymes may be determined later in the intensive care unit and urgent care setting so they confirm or infirm the suspicions of heart attack. So if you address as quickly as possible to a medical emergency or service you have greater chances of receiving the corresponding treatment.

Acid Reflux Cough – The way to Determine and Put an End to It

One of the symptoms of acid reflux that’s typically overlooked is a chronic cough. This can be as a result of at 1st glance there seems to be little or no relationship between the two. It will conjointly be attributed to the very fact that a cough could be a comparatively common incidence and the results of various alternative causes, such as a cold, the flu, bronchitis, etc.

The truth, but, is that acid reflux is the third leading explanation for a chronic cough, following on the heels of bronchial asthma and post-nasal drip (when the sinuses produce an excessive amount of mucus).

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is the medical term for what we have a tendency to grasp as acid reflux. Acid reflux happens when the abdomen releases its liquid back to the esophagus, inflicting inflammation and injury to the esophageal lining. The regurgitated acid most often consists of a few compounds: acid, bile, and pepsin. Stomach acid is employed in the digestion of food and can be a significant irritant to the esophagus due to its tendency to damage tissues.

The symptoms of acid reflux include nausea, belching, a sore throat, wheezing, issue swallowing, a pain within the chest that is often mistaken for a heart attack, and in some cases chronic coughing. In fact, nearly three out of every four sufferers experience evening time symptoms (like coughing, snoring, and chest pain) that aren’t typically regarded as typical acid reflux symptoms. An acid reflux cough is one in every of these. It’s caused when acid reaches the vocal cords and is passed to the lower airway.

Even in relatively small quantities, this may trigger coughing. Since such tiny quantities can initiate an acid reflux cough, sufferers are usually unaware that they even have GERD. After all, they may not have heartburn within the traditional sense, considering that there’s little or no injury to the liner of the esophagus when the acid level is therefore limited.

Thus, how can you be sure that your nagging cough is not cold or flu connected? If you have none of the other typical symptoms, like the sniffles, a small fever, throat irritation, heaviness in the chest, etc., accompanying your cough, then you need to contemplate different causes. Though you can experience an acid reflux cough without experiencing any of the opposite symptoms of GERD, if you are experiencing both, then it is time to go to together with your doctor. He can facilitate you identify whether or not or not your cough is acid reflux related.

There is another clue that you may need to consider as well. Most individuals can flip to cough syrup when they have a nagging cough. Surprisingly, an acid reflux cough probably won’t answer cough syrup. But, it may terribly well reply to an antacid. If you discover that’s the case in your situation, then that’s a big time clue of the cause behind your cough.

Beyond antacids, your physician could want to prescribe one thing stronger. If your acid reflux is severe, this could include a proton pump inhibitor like Nexium, Prevacid, Prilosec, Protonix, or Aciphex. These medications are designed to dam acid production, that allows the liner of the esophagus an chance to heal. Aspect effects, but, will embody abdominal pain, diarrhea and headaches.

If your acid reflux is comparatively mild, all it might take to place an end to your chronic cough is a few lifestyle changes. For instance, you may want to eat a lot of often throughout the day, together with your meals being smaller. You may wish to permit at least three hours when your last meal before you attend bed (this reduces the percentages that stomach acid will rise into the esophagus). You will wish to avoid foods that are commonly related to GERD, like chocolate, dairy products, fried foods, and citrus fruits. These little changes may very somewhat be all you need to put an finish to your acid reflux cough.

Shoulder Dislocation-Part 2

The management of dislocated shoulders is a matter of controversy in the orthopaedic field, with the usual management being confined to a sling for between one and six weeks, with or without a strap around the waist to prevent external rotation. The arm is maintained close to the body with the forearm across the belly, a position known as medial rotation and adduction. This avoids the stresses which would be applied to the joint if it were moved to the side or outwards, known as lateral rotation and abduction.

Scientific work has given a better indication of how or why these problems should be immobilised. An MRI scanning study indicated that the shoulder socket and the rim, made of fibrocartilage, are kept in the closest correct relationship by having the arm by the side and laterally rotated 35 degrees. Another study on cadavers showed that if the arm was kept in slight adduction there was a reasonable range of motion during which the two vital structures maintained close alignment. Allowing the arm to flex forward or to abduct outwards was disruptive for the rim or labrum of the socket.

The time of immobilisation is not one of general agreement with three or four weeks in a sling typically prescribed for younger people and shorter periods for older people. A longer period of immobilisation was shown in one study to significantly lower the rates of recurrent dislocation. Another study followed patient with shoulder dislocation for ten years and found no influence of the period of immobilisation on the rate of recurrent dislocation. After the patient is reviewed at the three week period they start their rehabilitation with the physiotherapists.

Rehabilitation starts with pendular exercises which allow range of motion of the shoulder joint without high levels of stress through the area. The patient bends at the waist and permits the arm to hang vertically, making movement easy. Physiotherapists will teach scapular movements to maintain range of this area and progress the patient towards active assisted exercises next. Muscle function and range of movement can be facilitated by using the unaffected arm to participate, thereby allowing increased but controlled forces to be applied.

Re-dislocation risk determines that external rotation should be limited and only increased as the healing process proceeds. Pushing this movement may not be wise and a loss of end range may be acceptable as it prevents the joint from going into one of its vulnerable positions, reducing the chances of a dislocation occurring again. Soft tissue healing time is around six weeks and at this time the physiotherapist will progress to muscle strengthening and full range of motion shoulder exercises.

More vigorous rehabilitation can follow if the patient has particular requirements for their shoulder function, but overhead sports are unlikely to be sensible for at least four months. If the patient is older or the greater tuberosity, a part of the humeral head which bears muscular insertions, is fractured then the prognosis is better overall. In some cases the person may have to modify their activity to avoid the risk of dislocating again, limiting overhead work, avoiding high risk sporting activities and modifying heavy work.

Thirty percent is the overall re-dislocation rate for those of us who are not athletic, and this rises very steeply to 82 percent in sports people and athletes. How old the patient is has a strong influence on how likely they are to dislocate again, with under ten years having a 100 percent likelihood of re-dislocation. Older people in their forties have a much reduced chance between nought and twenty four percent. Repetitive re-dislocation may mean that a patient requires surgical intervention to prevent further episodes of joint problems.

The surgical management of dislocated shoulder is not wholly clear but some indications are that early surgery may be a helpful technique. There is variation amongst scientific papers but one showed a 94 percent re-dislocation after conservative management and only a 4 percent recurrence after stabilisation of the shoulder with arthroscopic surgery. Overall there may be higher rates of recurrence in conservatively managed patients. Surgical results were better with open surgery but advances in arthroscopic technique have brought this up to the same level.

All About Total Knee Joint Replacement

Total Joint Replacement India

What is a joint?

A joint is formed by the ends of two or more bones that are connected by thick tissues. For example, the knee joint is formed by the lower leg bone (tibia and fibula) and the thighbone (femur). The hip is a ball and socket joint, formed by the upper end of the femur (the ball), and a part of the pelvis, called the acetabulum (the socket).

Knee Replacement Recovery, Total Knee Replacement Surgery Risks, Knee Joint Replacement The bone ends of a joint are covered with a smooth layer called cartilage. Normal cartilage allows nearly frictionless and pain-free movement. When the cartilage is damaged or diseased by arthritis, joints become stiff and painful. Every joint is enclosed by a fibrous tissue envelope or a capsule with a smooth tissue lining, called the synovium. The synovium produces fluid that reduces friction and wear in a joint.

Why is total joint replacement necessary?

The goal is to relieve the pain in the joint caused by the damage done to the cartilage. The pain may be so severe, a person will avoid using the joint, weakening the muscles around the joint and making it even more difficult to move the joint. A physical examination, and possibly some laboratory tests and X-rays, will show the extent of damage to the joint. Total joint replacement will be considered if other treatment options will not relieve the pain and disability.

How is a total joint replacement performed?

You will be given an anesthetic and the surgeon will replace the damaged parts of the joint. For example, in an arthritic knee the damaged ends of the bones and cartilage are replaced with metal and plastic surfaces that are shaped to restore knee movement and function.

In an arthritic hip, the damaged ball (the upper end of the femur) is replaced by a metal ball attached to a metal stem fitted into the femur and a plastic socket is implanted into the pelvis, replacing the damaged socket.

Although hip and knee replacements are the most common joint replaced, this surgery can be performed on other joints, including the ankle, foot, shoulder, elbow, and fingers.

The materials used in a total joint replacement are designed to enable the joint to move just like a normal joint.

The prosthesis is generally composed of two parts: a metal piece that fits closely into a matching sturdy plastic piece. Several metals are used, including stainless steel, alloys of cobalt and chrome, and titanium. The plastic material is durable and wear resistant (polyethylene). A plastic bone cement may be used to anchor the prosthesis into the bone.

Joint replacements also can be implanted without cement when the prosthesis and the bone are designed to fit and lock together directly.

What is the recovery process?

In general, your orthopaedic surgeon will encourage you to use your “New” joint shortly after your operation. After total hip or knee replacement, you will often stand and begin walking the day after surgery. Initially, you will walk with a walker, crutches, or a cane.

Most patients have some temporary pain in the replaced joint because the surrounding muscles are weak from inactivity and the tissues are healing. This will end in a few weeks or months.

Exercise is an important part of the recovery process. Your orthopaedic surgeon or the staff will discuss an exercise program for you after surgery. This varies for different joint replacements and for differing needs of each patient.

After your surgery, you may be permitted to play golf, walk, and dance. More strenuous sports, such as tennis or running, may be discouraged.

The motion of your joint will generally improve after surgery. The extent of improvement will depend on how stiff your joint was before the surgery.

What are the possible complications?

Tell your orthopaedic surgeon about any medical conditions that might affect the surgery. Joint replacement surgery is successful in more than 9 out of 10 people. When complications occur, most are successfully treatable.

Possible complications include the following:

Infection

Infection may occur in the wound or deep around the prosthesis. It may happen while in the hospital or after you go home. It may even occur years later. Minor infections in the wound area are generally treated with antibiotics. Major or deep infections may require more surgery and removal of the prosthesis.

Dislocation

Occasionally, after total hip replacement the ball can be dislodged from the socket. In most cases, the hip can be relocated without surgery. A brace may be worn for a period of time if a dislocation occurs. Most commonly, dislocations are more frequent after complex revision surgery.

Wear

Some wear can be found in all joint replacements. Excessive wear may contribute to loosening and may require revision surgery.

Loosening

Loosening of the prosthesis within the bone may occur after a total joint replacement. This may cause pain. If the loosening is significant, a revision of the joint replacement may be needed. New methods of fixing the prosthesis to bone should minimize this problem.

Prosthetic Breakage

Breakage of the metal or plastic joint replacement is rare, but can occur. A revision surgery is necessary if this occurs.

Cleanliness in the Kitchen

A clean kitchen is mandatory for a healthy environment. The kitchen is where people prepare their food and as such high standards for personal and environmental hygiene must be followed. Whether at a home or in a restaurant, it is always important to keep high levels of cleanliness in the kitchen. The kitchen, more than any other location, is the room most prone to the growth and development of disease-causing bacteria and pests.

A clean kitchen begins with high levels of personal hygiene. Whether you are a homemaker, domestic help or a restaurant employee, be aware of the fact that you are a bacteria carrier and may pass diseases to others without being aware of it. You should not handle food with unwashed hands because you risk passing bacteria on to the food you handle. If you’re a restaurant employee, always take a shower before reporting to work.

The cleanliness of the kitchen environment is also important.. Before beginning cooking, clean counter tops, tables and other surfaces in the kitchen. This is not just about wiping surfaces down, it is also about sanitizing surfaces to discourage growth of bacteria. Sweep floors and wipe walls clean on a daily basis or more often if necessary. Liquids spilled onto floors and other surfaces needs taken care by using proper disinfectants. In addition, remove any cobwebs that hang from the kitchen. A clean sink is the greatest indicator of the level of hygiene in your kitchen. If you keep your sink clean, all other kitchen items, utensils, equipment and surfaces will follow.

Remove any food that spills out or drops onto kitchen surfaces immediately. Remember bacteria thrives well in locations where there is dirt and food. Rinse and dry all kitchen utensils after washing but before putting them away. Every single step is important, and the removal of dirt ensures your kitchen is safe for the preparation of food meant for human consumption.

Equipment, furniture and electronic appliances should also be cleaned before use. Routinely clean the refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, freezer and other kitchen appliances. Cleaning here may involve cleaning the inner parts of appliances such as the refrigerator.

Waste management is critical to the general cleanliness in the kitchen. Sprinkle any kitchen garbage with phenyl and cover it. Dispose of garbage as soon as practically possible to discourage infestation by pests such as mice.

Professional cleaning companies have resources available to carry out expert kitchen cleaning. Whenever you feel overwhelmed by cleaning tasks, call a cleaning company. It’s team of experts and tools will offer janitorial services at your convenience.

Hip Replacement—Complications Are too Few & Success Rate is Great

Hip replacement: When do you need it? Hip replacement is a surgical procedure to help you get back the easy mobility that was lost due to the deteriorating hip joint over the years. Obviously the matter has not worsened overnight. The statistics show that the majority of the patients procrastinate in consulting orthopedics when the problem is at a very nascent stage. They mostly rely on the pain killers to lessen their suffering but such delay only deepens the crisis. The root cause of hip pain is hip arthritis which disturbs the normal functioning of the hip. The doctors usually avoid hip replacement surgery in case, the patients are too young. The young patients are advised to be on medication and regularly practice a few freehand exercises to keep the problem under control. Losing weight also helps in reducing pressure on the hip and thereby relieving the hip pain to some extent. An expert medical practitioner can only tell if total hip replacement surgery will do any good to a patient.
Hip replacement: Will it improve the quality of your life? The doctors suggest hip replacement only when there is no other alternative way in vision to improve the quality of the life of a patient. The unbearable pain in the hip area also affects the free functioning of the other parts of the body, mainly the knee joints. The patients tend to lean on the other hip which is in good health just to take the stress off the other one which is causing problem. But the excessive pressure on the other side can also damage the healthy hip. Walking with a lame gait affects a patient’s personal and social life. He or she cannot do any work with the same level of ease or efficiency. Therefore, hip replacement becomes the only medial solution to this tremendous suffering.
Hip replacement: Success rate The success rate in case of hip replacement is quite impressive. Over the 80% of the patients, undergone the replacement surgery have been able to lead normal life as before without experiencing any kind of complication. Surgery in the hip area is not a new concept. The continuous research in the medical technology has improved the surgical technique and lessened the surgical risks. The advanced replacement surgery assures lesser amount of blood loss and speeds up the recovery pace for the patients.
Hip replacement: Complications Any surgery is associated with some risks and in some cases, it involves complications too. Most of the patients will prefer to hobble rather than opting for the surgery if they come to know that they are likely to develop complications at the post-operative stage. But, in case of hip replacement only 20% of the patients, mostly the aged persons, experience one or often more than one complications after the surgery. The nerve and vascular damage is a major complication often complained about by the patients after the surgery. The damage may be of permanent nature causing a great physical suffering and mental trauma for the rest of life. If the damage is of temporary nature, the suffering will gradually cease, though sometimes the rehabilitation period becomes much lengthy. Femur fracture and discrepancy in the length of the legs also pose great problems for the patients even after the total hip replacement surgery.

Probiotic Supplements and Digestive Health

A healthy gut is of paramount importance for overall well-being. Our gut or large intestine contains a complex community of microorganisms termed ‘gut flora’. The gut flora, consisting of yeasts, viruses and mainly bacteria, help perform several critical functions in the gut, such as aiding digestion and boosting our immunity system. In fact, the gastrointestinal tract constitutes about 70% of our immunity system. The friendly bacteria colonizing our gut can also be found in various foods or natural probiotic supplements.

Probiotics

Probiotics are live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, provide several benefits to the host. Probiotics can be found in foods such as yogurt, tempeh, sauerkraut, kimchi and kefir, among others.

You can also buy probiotic supplements containing varying species and strains of beneficial bacteria that are known to confer different benefits to the consumer.

Difference between probiotics and prebiotics

You may also come across natural products in the market called prebiotics. Prebiotics refer to dietary fibers that friendly bacteria (probiotics) feed on.

Prebiotics prove helpful in supporting the gut flora that occupies the gut.

The need for natural probiotic supplements

Pollution, junk food and the use of antibiotics are some of the possible factors that can disturb the requisite balance of good bacteria in the gut.

Restoring this balance may require the consumption of probiotics.

Although foods containing probiotics can lend several health benefits, they often contain a low concentration of probiotics. Probiotic supplements, on the other hand, contain high doses of probiotics which can help have a positive impact on digestive health and overall well-being.

Different types of bacteria used in probiotics

There are several different groups of bacteria that tend to provide varying benefits when used in natural probiotic supplements.

When you head out to buy probiotic supplements, make sure that you read the product label carefully to assess the species and strains of bacteria used in the supplement as well as their amounts.

The most common bacteria groups used in natural probiotic supplements include Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium.

Probiotic supplements and digestive health

Probiotics have been studied most with regard to the benefits they impart to digestive health. Here’s a list of some of the benefits of probiotic bacteria for the digestive system:

• Cure antibiotic-associated diarrhea

When a person consumes antibiotics for treating an ailment over a long period of time, it disturbs the natural balance of good bacteria in the gut. This is known to cause antibiotic-associated diarrhea that persists for a considerable amount of time even after the antibiotics have stopped being consumed.

Probiotics can help replenish friendly bacteria, restoring the balance of gut flora and treating the antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

• Treat irritable bowel syndrome

The consumption of natural probiotic supplements alleviates symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, such as gas, bloating, constipation and diarrhea

• Beneficial against a range of other digestive diseases

Consuming probiotics can help you fight inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. They can also be beneficial against Helicobacter pylori infections, known to cause ulcers and stomach cancer.

Probiotic foods and supplements can go a long way in maintaining your health and curing nagging digestive ailments such as irritable bowel syndrome and digestive distress. For more details visit – http://www.qualitynature.com/probiotic-advantage/

Relieve Dry Skin On The Back And Shoulders

During the cold, winter months, you may find yourself applying skin lotions more often than usual. Slathering rejuvenating cream on parched skin certainly feels fantastic, but locations such as your back are much more difficult to reach, and therefore don’t get the relief that the rest of your body does. Here are some dry skin remedies that will work to keep your back and shoulders just as hydrated and smooth as the rest of your body.

Step One: Bathing

Warm water is comforting in the cold weather, but don’t turn the heat up any higher. Warm water is less drying to the skin than hot. In addition, decrease the length of time you spend bathing to prevent dryness.

Choose a moisturizing shower gel or soap, and ensure no traces of it remain when you finish bathing.

Step Two: Exfoliation

You may choose to exfoliate while you bathe, but you can also complete this step before or after showering. Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells on your back, so moisturizers are able to penetrate the skin better. Apply a small amount of body scrub to the brush end of a long-handled scrub brush. You can find these at most drugstores. The long-handled brush is ideal for exfoliating the back, which is ordinarily difficult to reach. Use the brush to exfoliate the skin on your back in a circular motion, if you can. Be sure to scrub the width of the shoulders and all the way down to the lower back as well. Rinse off the body scrub completely when you are finished.

Step Three: Moisturizing

Once you’ve sloughed off the dead cells, pat yourself down with a towel so that skin is just barely damp. Immediately after bathing is when your body’s pores are the most open, and moisturizing will provide the best benefits. Use a hydrating cream or other natural skin cream to rub lotion into your shoulders. The elbows are a typical trouble spot, so ensure you apply your natural skin lotion there too. If you have trouble reaching your back with just your hands, you can purchase a lotion applicator for only a few dollars; these applicators, similar to your scrub brush, have a long wooden or plastic handle with a foam or sponge head attached. Pour a small amount of moisturizing cream onto your applicator, and rub it into your back. Repeat as needed, and rinse the applicator head after use.

When choosing the best moisturizer for dry skin, you want to look for a formula that will absorb fairly quickly and that won’t clog pores. This will prevent your back from developing acne or appearing oily.

Finally, keep skin hydrated throughout the day with a humidifier in your home or office.

The Harmful Consequences Of Addiction

For the addicts to live, they need to satiate themselves with narcotics. For them, to live without drugs is like living without air. The thirst should be anesthetized, and quenched, the addict should win in this grim struggle of existence. However, all that I know is all forms of addiction is bad. What would start as an innocent pleasure soon proceeds to overtake the life and become a nasty habit. Addiction is not praiseworthy or innocent. Maintaining the habit becomes the ultimate goal and leaves behind no interest in any other thing. Men are always tempted, but it is important to realize that some temptation reap deterioration and ultimately death.

These mood-altering substances can alleviate the disposition of the human mind. However, the ulterior motive of these components, remain the same. They produce the same “above the world” effect, relaxes the nerves and for some, allows them to be amnesiac or trance-like especially towards the recent happenings of their lives. Addiction can form towards anything. It can be defined as a state of the person being enslaved to a particular practice or habit that its termination can lead to further trauma and other related problems. It is a continued use or the abuse of substances and behavior that leads to adverse physical and physiological outcome. This can further cause neurological disorders, severe trauma, physical inability, and consequent relapses.

Addiction can include the abuse of the following:

• Alcohol

• Drug

• Physical exercise

• Gambling

• Watching television

• Internet surfing, etc

There are certain trademark behavioral symptoms that are visible in an addict. The hallmarks are as follows:

• Preoccupation with the particular object.

• Obsessive behavior leading to violent outbursts.

• Continued usage regardless of the consequences.

• Denial, inability to cope with the surroundings.

• Relapses into the substance abuse.

The habits and the patterns of this compulsion can be defined as the short-term gratification with prolonged deleterious effects. Changes in the physiological pattern are common phenomenon as the body includes the material in its normal metabolism. This is followed by repetitive state of tolerance and withdrawal. While “tolerance” is the procedure when the body adapts to the abuse and slowly requires increased amounts to quench the eventual effects, “withdrawal” is the physical and psychological symptoms that occur due to the stoppage of the substance. The “withdrawal” symptoms include irritability, anxiety, nausea, hallucinations, cold sweats, tremors and intense cravings for the substance.

This habit can pertain to compulsions that are not related to any substance exploitation. These may include obsessive shopping, overeating, under eating, gambling, computer and internet dependence or can be exercise or sport related. The compulsion arises in engaging in some kind of activity that would bring about harmful consequences. The consequences can even trickle down into the individual’s social, mental and health state. Most of these compulsive behavioral patterns arise due to physiological, psychological and biological factors.
