Dealing With Excessive Anxiety In Your Life

It can happen to anyone: one minute you’re sipping your coffee and reading the morning paper when you’re suddenly beset by an unusual twinge in your chest, or perhaps you get a strange twitch in your finger. You begin to worry about what is causing the strange feeling, and the worry grows until it becomes fear of some terminal condition or illness. Suddenly the room seems to spin as you’re racked by a panic attack.

People who suffer from panic attacks for the first time often check themselves into a hospital, convinced they are having a heart attack. However, panic attacks are simply a physical manifestation of stress and anxiety. The physical symptoms grow out of proportion because your fear triggers the fight or flight response.

Anxiety can have an incredible number of symptoms, ranging from simple excessive worry to full blown sensations of pain or blurred vision.

If you suddenly have new or strange symptoms, you should of course get them checked out by a doctor. This is the first step. However once you have a full checkup you should definitely consider anxiety to be a cause of your issues.

Understanding Anxiety

The first step in conquering excessive anxiety and panic is to understand the symptoms of excess stress that leads to anxiety. Trouble sleeping, a racing mind, tension headaches, difficulty concentrating, and irritability are just a few. These can be early warning signs.

Once stress passes into the phase of anxiety you tend to have stronger bouts of worry, more than the normal “stress” that everyone experiences. Symptoms of anxiety include excessive worry about certain things, irrational fears, the inability to do things that were once easy such as drive to work, and other similar things.

Defeating Anxiety

Once you learn that anxiety is nothing more than your body’s response to the mental exhaustion caused by stress you can begin the healing process.

There are a few things you can do to help break the cycle of tension and fear.

Talk to someone about your anxiety. Sometimes the simple act of confiding in someone can make your problems seem smaller and less daunting. It helps put things in perspective. Make sure that you confide in someone you can trust, and who will not berate you for being irrational.

Take time for yourself. Try to give yourself at least 45 minutes a day to do something by yourself, for yourself. Get a coffee and read a book. Draw. Take a bath. Time to yourself will give your mind a chance to recover its resources and slow down.

Invest in a self help program. There are several great programs available that will help you learn more about what you’re going through and how to regain control of your life. Do some research and get a program that you think you will stick with.

Muscle building and insomnia

To begin with, it is essential that we understand how muscle building may result in difficulties falling asleep. There are three broad categories of insomnia. These are; transient, acute and chronic. While transient insomnia lasts for less than a week and acute insomnia lasts for less than a month, chronic insomnia lasts for longer than this and one of its causes is muscular fatigue. Exercise, when done right and at the right time during the day, is a great and effective way to induce sleep. However, it may also cause insomnia especially when it is strenuous and when it is not regulated accurately. This is especially true in the case of muscle building because it demands a lot from the body in terms of muscle strength and activity.

It is possible to sleep for many hours and yet not get any quality sleep to rejuvenate. This is because restorative sleep is achieved in the REM stage of the sleep cycle and if there are inhibitions stopping you from reaching this stage, you wake up still feeling fatigued and your strength and vigor is therefore not restored.

Sleep and adequate time for recovery are an important component in your bid to build both strength and muscle. This is necessary in order to heal from the rigors of training. In muscle building, we often have little micro tears in our muscles. Sleep and recovery time enable these muscles to heal properly and in the process, they become bigger and stronger than before. It is important to pay attention to what your body is communicating to you. If it says that you are overstraining and that you need to rest, do so!

Sleep is also important in that it brings our brains alive. When we are rested, our minds are able to work at their optimal level and you therefore have higher cognition and are able to learn new things faster. Your attention span also increases greatly. A healthy sleep cycle also helps our bodies to metabolize what we consume in a better way through which we are able to achieve the full nutritional benefits of that which we eat. When we suffer from insomnia, we often tend to gain weight. This is not beneficial on the quest to build more muscle and less fat.

Insomnia also results in the negative alteration of the body’s white blood cells. This results in a reduction in the body’s ability and effectiveness in fighting off illnesses.

In order to sleep better, you need to ensure that you set aside the bed for sleep only! Oh, and making love- also important. When it comes to other activities however, like reading, or working

On your laptop or even arguing, move to another location. This way, you ensure that your bed remains a haven and safe place where you can sleep and rest and live to fight another day.

Another tactic is to avoid watching action or horror movies just before bed time. Try as much as you can not to excite your mind- not even with exciting books. Take a warm bath or a warm drink instead in order to wind down. However, it is wise to avoid caffeinated and alcoholic drinks. When it comes to exercise, schedule all your rigorous training for the hours during the day. In the evening hours, avoid training as it gets you and your muscles all worked up and awake.

It also helps to have a regular time to go to bed and a regular time for getting up. Our human bodies like conditioning and this is especially important if you are having trouble sleeping. Avoid oversleeping and extending the hours as much as possible as this breaks the cycle and consequently, confuses your system.

The benefits and side effects of using drugs to induce sleep have long been debated. The truth is, while it is not a long term solution to the problem of insomnia, melatonin can offer some assistance. The drug is based on a natural hormone produced by the body to help you sleep. It is relatively safe to use since it is a natural remedy but before you do so, consult your doctor so that he or she can write you a prescription based on how long you need it for. As mentioned earlier, it is important to employ other strategies to help you to beat insomnia because the drug is by no means a permanent solution.

Distance Running And Sore Feet – Key Tips To Avoid Foot Problems

Runners often experience sore feet. Running a marathon or long distance running, involves a considerable degree of dedication and preparation.

It also involves putting our bodies and in particular our feet under a considerable degree of pressure as they spend several hours pounding the pavements.

The potential for sore feet and injury is high, so we need to know how to take care and attention avoid these foot injuries.

* Examples of foot problems when running

– Ill fitting Trainers and Socks

These are the largest contributors to foot problems in marathon running, indeed running in general. They can cause problems with the hips, knees and back..

To avoid this, do not wear new trainers on the actual race day.

Instead choose a pair that you have been running in for about ten weeks. These do need to be worn in but as you will be increasing your mileage in the last two months when training, you do need them to remain supportive.

– Blisters and Nail Damage.

Some of the biggest foot problems experienced by runners, are blisters and nail damage.. If the nails are too long, or socks overly thin, or trainers are too tight, then the nails can start to thicken up.

The nature of long distance running is that there is lots of pressure on the big toe. Hence if the nails are too long then problems can ensue from this constant pressure.

– Numbing

Numbing is another example of the effects of long distance running. Again this can be caused by pressure on for example the big toe, but it can also be caused by ill-fitting footwear.

It really is essential to take the time to seek expert advice on appropriate running footwear.

* Some advice on pre race foot treatment.

– Deal immediately with pre existing foot conditions

First of all deal with any existing foot conditions. Get an expert to check your feet out if necessary.

If you have a fungal condition, then get it treated as it will only flare up on race day. The same applies if you have a number of calluses, or ingrown toenail type problems.

– Make Foot Hygiene a priority

Keep your feet clean and dry. If you know that your feet do get overly sweaty, then use talcum powder to dry them. Consider using running socks when you run.

Keep to a consistent foot care routine, if its working in training, its also likely to work on the day.

Don`t change your routine just for race day its a bad time to find out that a change hasn`t worked!

* Some advice on Post Race Recovery

You`ve finished – well done.! However, your feet may be throbbing and need care and attention. Consider a saltwater bath to sooth and a massage to relax.

These are just a few of the many tips available on the treatment of sore feet . There is so much more to learn so do read on and learn how to really look after your feet properly.

Indian Spices – The Amazing Health Benefits

Indian cuisine is known the world over for its color, taste and flavor. What makes Indian dishes unique is the addition of several spices. These spices not only make for great components while cooking – they come with a host of health benefits too. Here is a list of some of the most commonly used Indian spices and the health benefits they offer.

Recent studies have also proved its efficacy in treating several gastrointestinal conditions such as colic, diarrhea, and constipation. When combined with ginger, cloves and cinnamon, it makes a delightful concoction, which is good for your overall health.

Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and was used by ancient healers to treat a wide range of conditions from toothache to menstrual pain. Curcumin, an active agent present in turmeric is a powerful antioxidant, and several studies have shown that it is helpful in treating cancer and reducing the size of tumors.

Clove – This little flower-like spice has a lot of uses. It is a common ingredient in soaps, toothpastes and perfumes. Clove has been in use since the ancient times. Clove oil is very effective in treating stomach conditions such as diarrhea, gas, and upset stomach. It also helps relieve pain when applied topically.

Coriander – Coriander is believed to have been in use for the past 7000 years for cooking and healing. The fresh leaves are known as cilantro and the seeds are sold whole or ground. Similar to other Indian spices, coriander has anti-inflammatory properties and helps in digestion. The antioxidants present in the spice are helpful in relieving oxidative stress in those afflicted with diabetes.

Asafoetida – A well-known flavoring agent, asafoetida lends a pungent taste to the dishes. It offers several health benefits. It aids in digestion and also helps in the treatment of a wide array of respiratory disorders such as asthma, cough, and bronchitis. It is also known to help alleviate painful and excessive menstruation in women.

Benefits of the Indian spices extend far beyond what many of us know. Include some or all of these spices in your daily diet to keep yourself and your family healthy.

Europe's New Jews

They inhabit self-imposed ghettoes, subject to derision and worse, the perennial targets of far-right thugs and populist politicians of all persuasions. They are mostly bound to menial jobs. They are accused of spreading crime, terrorism and disease, of being backward and violent, of refusing to fit in.

Their religion, atavistic and rigid, insists on ritual slaughter and male circumcision. They rarely mingle socially or inter-marry. Most of them – though born in European countries – are not allowed to vote. Brown-skinned and with a marked foreign accent, they are subject to police profiling and harassment and all manner of racial discrimination.

They are the new Jews of Europe – its Muslim minorities.

Muslims – especially Arab youths from North Africa – are, indeed, disproportionately represented in crime, including hate crime, mainly against the Jews. Exclusively Muslim al-Qaida cells have been discovered in many West European countries. But this can be safely attributed to ubiquitous and trenchant long-term unemployment and to stunted upward mobility, both social and economic due largely to latent or expressed racism.

Moreover, the stereotype is wrong. The incidence of higher education and skills is greater among Muslim immigrants than in the general population – a phenomenon known as "brain drain". Europe joins the best and the brightest – students, schools, scientists, engineers and intellectuals – away from their destitute, politically dysfunctional and backward homelands.

The Economist surveys the landscape of friction and withdrawal:

"Indifference to Islam has turned first to disdain, then to speculation and more recently to hostility … (due to images of) petro-powered sheikhs, Palestinian terrorists, Iranian ayatollahs, mass immigration and then the attacks of September 11th, executed if Not planned by western-based Muslims and succored by an odious time in Afghanistan … Muslims tend to come from poor, rural areas; most are ill-educated, many are brown. They often encounter xenophobia and discrimination, sometimes made worse by racist Politicians. They speak the language of the wider society either or not at all, so they find it hard to get jobs .. Their children struggle at school .. They are huddle in poor districts, often in state-furnished housing … They tend to Withdraw into their own world, (forming a) self-sufficient, self-contained community. "

This self-imposed segregation has multiple dimensions. Clannish behavior persists for decades. Marriages are still arranged – related brides and grooms are imported from the motherland to wed immigrants from the same region or village. The "parallel society", in the words of a British government report following the Oldham riots two years ago, extends to cultural habits, religious practices and social norms.

Assimilation and integration has many enemies.

Remittances from abroad are an important part of the gross national product and budgetary revenues of countries such as Bangladesh and Pakistan. Here their frantic efforts to maintain the cohesive national and cultural identity of the expats. DITIB is an arm of the Turkish government's office for religious affairs. It discourages the assimilation or social integration of Turks in Germany. Turkish businesses – newspapers, satellite TV, foods, clothing, travel agents, publishers – thrive on ghettoization.

There is a tacit confluence of interests between national governments, exporters and Islamic organizations. All three want Turks in Germany to remain as Turkish as possible. The more nostalgic and homebound the expatriate – the larger and more frequent his remittances, the higher his consumption of Turkish goods and services and the more prone he is to resort to religion as a determinant of his besieged and fracturing identity.

Muslim numbers are not negligible. Two European countries have Muslim majorities – Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania. Others – in both Old Europe and its post-communist east – harbor sizable and growing Islamic minorities. Waves of immigration and birth rates three times as high as the indigenous population increase their share of the population in virtually every European polity – from Russia to Macedonia and from Bulgaria to Britain. One in seven Russians is Muslim – over 20 million people.

According to the March-April issue of Foreign Policy, the non-Muslim part of Europe will shrink by 3.5 percent by 2015 while the Muslim populace will likely double. There are 3 million Turks in Germany and another 12 million Muslims – Algerians, Moroccans, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Egyptians, Senegalese, Malis, or Tunisians – in the rest of the European Union.

This is two and one half times the number of Muslims in the United States. Even assuming – wrongly – that all of them occupy the lowest decile of income, their combined annual purchasing power would amount to a whopping $ 150 billion. Furthermore, recent retroactive changes to German law have naturalized over a million immigrants and automatically granted its much-coveted citizenship to the 160,000 Muslims born in Germany every year.

Between 2-3 million Muslims in France – half their number – are eligible to vote. Another million – one out of two – cast balloons in Britain. These numbers count at the polls and are not offset by the recorded efforts of a potent Jewish lobby – there are barely a million Jews in Western Europe.

Muslims are becoming a well-courted swing vote. They may have decided the last election in Germany, for instance. Recognizing their growing centrality, France established – though not without vote-rigging – a French Council of the Islamic Faith, the equivalent of Napoleon's Jewish Consistory. Two French cabinet members are Muslims. Britain has a Muslim Council.

Both Vladimir Putin, Russia's president and Yuri Luzhkov, Moscow's mayor, now take the trouble to greet the capital's one million Muslims on the occasion of their Feast of Sacrifice. They also actively solicit the votes of the nationalist and elitist Muslims of the industrialized Volga – mainly the Tatars, Bashkirs and Chuvash. Even the impoverished, much-tested and powerless Muslims of the northern Caucasus – Chechens, Circassians and Dagestanis – have benefited from this newfound awareness of their electoral power.

Although divided by their common creed – Shiites vs. Sunnites vs. Wahabbites and so on – the Muslims of Europe are united in supporting the Palestinian cause and in opposing the Iraq war. This – and post-colonial guilt feelings, especially manifest in France and Britain – go a long way toward revealing Germany's re-discovered pacifistic spine and France's anti-Israeli (not to say anti-Semitic tilt).

Moreover, the Muslims have been playing an important economic role in the continent since the early 1960s. Europe's postwar miracle was founded on these cheap, plentiful and oft-renovated Gastarbeiter – "guest workers". Objective studies have consistently shown that immigrants contribute more to their host economies – as consumers, investors and workers – than they ever claw back in social services and public goods. This is especially true in Europe, where an aging population of early retirees has been relying on the uninterrupted flow of pension contributions by many migrant workers, many of them immigrants.

Business has been paying attention to this emerging market. British financial intermediaries – such as the West Bromwich Building Society – have recently introduced "Islamic" (interest-free) mortgages. According to market research firm, Datamonitor, gross advances in the UK alone could reach $ 7 billion in 2006 – up from $ 60 million today. The Bank of England is in the throes of preparing regulations to accommodate the pent-up demand.

Yet, their very integration, however hesitant and gradual, renders the Muslims in Europe vulnerable to the kind of treatment the old continent meted out to its Jews before the holocaust. Growing Muslim presence in stagnating job markets within recessionary economies inevitably generated a backlash, often cloaked in terms of Samuel Huntington's 1993 essay in Foreign Affairs, "Clash of Civilizations".

Even tolerant Italy was affected. Last year, the Bologna archbishop, Cardinal Giacomo Biffi, cast Islam as incompatible with Italian culture. The country's prime minister suggested, in a visit to Berlin two years ago, that Islam is an inherently inferior civilization.

Oriana Fallaci, a prominent journalist, published last year an inane and foul-mouthed diatribe titled "The Rage and the Pride" in which she accused Muslims of "breeding like rats", "sending and pissing" (sic!) Everywhere and supporting Osama Bin-Laden indiscriminately.

Young Muslims reacted – by further radicalizing and by refusing to assimilate – to both escalating anti-Islamic rhetoric in Europe and the "triumphs" of Islam elsewhere, such as the revolution in Iran in 1979. Tutored by preachers trained in the most militant Islamic climates In Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan and Iran, praying in mosques financed by shady Islamic charities – these youngsters are amenable to recruiters from every fanatical grouping.

The United Kingdom suffered some of the worst race riots in half a century in the past two years. France is terrorized by an unpreceded crime wave emanating from the banlieux – the decrepit, predominately Muslim, housing estates in suburbia. September 11 only accelerated the inevitable conflict between an alienated minority and hostile authorities throughout the continent. Recent changes in European – notably British – legislation openly profile and target Muslims.

This is a remarkable turnaround. Europe supported the Muslim Bosnian cause against the Serbs, Islamic Chechnya against Russia, the Palestinians against the Israeli and Muslim Albanian insurgents against both Serbs and Macedonians. Nor was this consistent pro-Islamic orientation a novelty.

Britain's Commission for Racial Equality which caters primarily to the needs of Muslims, was formed 37 years ago. Its Foreign Office has never wavered from its pro-Arab bias. Germany established a Central Council for Muslims. Both anti-Americanism and the more veteran anti-Israeli streak helped sustain Europe's empathy with Muslim refugees and "freedom fighters" through the 1960s, 70s and 80s.

September 11 put paid to this amity. The danger is that the brand of "Euro-Islam" that has begun to emerge lately may be decimated by this pervasive and sudden mistrust. Time Magazine described this blend as "the traditional Koran-based religion with its prohibitions against alcohol and interest-bearing loans now indelibly marked by the 'Western' values of tolerance, democracy and civil liberties."

Such "enlightened" Muslims can serve as an invaluable bridge between Europe and Russia, the Middle East, Asia, including China and other places with massive Muslim majorities or minorities. As most world conflicts today invve Islamic militants, global peace and a functioning "new order" critically depend on the goodwill and communication skills of Muslims.

Such a benign amalgam is the only realistic hope for reconciliation. Europe is aging and stagnating and can be reinvigorated only by embracing youthful, dynamic, driven immigrants, most of whom are bound to be Muslim. Co-existence is possible and the clash of civilization not an inevitability unless Huntington's dystopic vision becomes the basic policy document of the West.

Best Times and Places to Find Magic Mushrooms

Mushrooms have been used for centuries by traditional people and shamans or medicine men to go into altered states of consciousness and visit other dimensions. Magic mushrooms or hallucinogenic fungi such as the fly agaric or Amanita muscaria must be used carefully as they can be toxic, especially when identified incorrectly. Many species or varieties of mushrooms that may appear very similar can have vastly different properties.

Mushroom identification out in the woods or forests is a skill our ancestors acquired eons ago, but in our modern age that puts more value on science and material wealth than appreciation of nature and spirituality, being expert at identifying specific plants and knowing their applications are talents and abilities that have fallen by the wayside. Unless you are a mycologist, a mushroom scientist, or a serious student of the different kinds of mushrooms that grow in nature, you are likely to be ill equipped to correctly know the difference between, for example, an Amanita muscaria and one of its look-alike cousins in the mushroom family.

When it comes to finding any kind of mushroom out in the wild, your search will be most productive if you know not only when but also where to do your looking. Wild mushrooms are not like vegetables in a garden that are planted and harvested on a convenient time schedule. To the uninitiated observer it may seem that they have minds of their own, appearing and disappearing with very little rhyme or reason. But, like our ancestors of old who were in tune with the natural rhythms of the earth, those who closely study wild fungi know there are likely areas and seasons when one’s quest for these marvelous morsels will be most productive.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Amanita muscaria grow as natives all through the temperate and boreal regions. In addition, they have accidentally been transported to a large number of Southern Hemisphere countries. Searches will be most productive in woodlands where birch, pine, cedar fir and spruce trees are abundant. Although they are most often found in the fall, the seasonal variations are dependant on various climate zones. Whereas in the greatest areas of North America they appear during the summer and autumn, in Pacific coastal regions they come out later, in the late fall and early winter.

In some parts of Australia, particularly in the southeast, Amanita grows like a weed, and there are concerns, especially in rainforest areas around Victoria and Tasmania that it could be pushing out some native species.

For someone desiring to plant their own garden of Amanita mushrooms, they are advised to do so in the autumn or spring. Most of the growth happens underground during spring and summer, and depends on how much rainfall there is, or, if you are watering the garden yourself, according to how much moisture the soil contains.

Module 1 Chapter 1 Deciding on Your Niche

3.1 What is a Market Niche?

3.2 How to Decide on Your Market Niche – Step by Step

3.2.1 Identify Your Audience

3.2.2 Do niche market keyword research

3.2.3 Analyse the competition

3.2.4 Research the trends in the industry

3.2.5 Take decision

After your decision to do Online Business or take your existing brick and mortar business and set it up on the internet as well, the next decision you have to make concurrently is: which market niche you are going to be doing your online business.

  • To discuss the meaning of market niche
  • To encourage individual learner to use free online tools to do research on different market niches in Online Business
  • To help each participant to decide on the particular market niche that they want to do their Online business

3.1 What is a Market Niche?

A niche market is a small segment of the market which you plan to focus on in the course of selling your products, services and doing your business generally. It can further be sub-divided into sub-niches.

Thus, the first thing to do as you set out to establish your Online Business is to decide ab initio the particular aspect of the market that you will be operating your business from.

I can also say that Niche Marketing is the art and science of defining your particular small but profitable segment of the market (niche) and thereafter focusing all your products and services toward that particular segment.

Let me use this example: Weight Loss => weight loss for women => weight loss for women under 20 => weight loss for diabetic women under 20, etc.

One other thing about doing business online is noteworthy here.

When you are doing business online you must define as early as possible on the kind of products you want to market. Are you planning to deal on (sell) virtual or physical products?

Take for instance, the weight loss products cited above, there are virtual or informational products as well as physical products that can be sold to that market.

For most newcomers in Online Business, it is a good idea to start with Virtual Products for obvious reasons…

Virtual products have higher profit margins, sells more often than Physical Products, and is relatively easier to setup and market than Physical Products.

One of the major reasons for this quick and easier sales is the principle called INSTANT GRATIFICATION.

Your buyers will be all too excited to get the product they just paid for, instantly – by way of instant download, which is only possible with information products.

This decreases BUYERS’ REMORSE, the anxiety commonly associated with online buyers as they are buying from a stranger most of the time and, any delay in getting the product into their hands may cause them to think twice and possibly, even regret and can requesting for a refund as a result of the distrust emanated by the delay.

That being said, in general, the principle is the same (though more acute in information product market) irrespective of the market in which you are doing your business.

3.2 How to Decide on Your Market Niche – Step by Step

To decide on the niche you want to do your online business, you should take the following steps:

3.2.1 Identify your audience

This is very important for two reasons – products come and go but audience abides forever; this approach will also connect you with the market that have a burning desire and the capacity to buy.

From the next paragraph you have to be connected to the Internet for practice.

For different types of niches and sub-niches that you can possibly go into see this website – note the categories and click on the + sign in front of each category to see the sub-categories: ClickBank

Each category and sub-category forms a niche and sub-niche of its own respectively as referred to previously.

3.2.2 Do niche market keyword research

Google AdWords Keywords Tool is the notable free leader in keyword research. It is beginner-friendly and you can start using it immediately if you have a Google mail account.

You must have a Google mail to create an account or sign in to use the tool (see top right hand corner).

As you go professional, you need a paid version, but the free version is quite useful to start with. If you are not familiar with it, check on the right top side of the site and you will find the instructions (‘Before you begin’) on how to use it: Google AdWords Keywords Tool

3.2.3 Analyse the competition

As you type in keywords into the Google keywords tool search box, click on Get Ideas. From the result, check on the Competition (low is recommended for beginners), Local Monthly Search (1000+ is okay), and the Approximate CPC (how much and how many people are willing to pay for the keyword).

See the red pen marks below.

The keyword I computed into the search box is ‘Network Marketing’.

This is a reflection of your Competitors Appraisal of the market. Few people will be willing to pay for keywords in a market that there is no money to profit from. The more they pay for Keywords the better the market for business.

Additionally, when you pick low competition keyword that you want to target, type it into Google Search and see how many pages are returned – representing the websites that are targeting the keyword.

Also check the number of pages in the first 10 links that have that keyword in the name of their websites. Later, I will say more on this in another lesson.

Check if there is any Ads on the right side of each page targeting the keyword.

Also click on the first few links to observe if there is any ad on those sites (right side). If there is none, then the keyword is worthless! Otherwise advertisers will pay to attract traffic to their sites using the keyword.

3.2.4 Research the trends in the industry

Herbal Remedies for Biliary Dyskinesia – 5 Herbal Remedies That Work Effectively

Treatments for biliary dyskinesia usually involve relaxing or toning the gallbladder and improving the secretion of bile from the liver. Several herbs have properties which promote choleretic and cholagogue action which means that it stimulates the liver cells to produce bile and also improves the gallbladder contractions to help the duodenum eliminate bile efficiently.

1. Globe artichoke: Globe artichoke or cynara scolymus tea has a bitter taste due to which people usually avoid it but it is a very good cholecystokinetic.trans.gif

Drink the unsweetened tea in small sips before you eat anything in the morning and then lie down for 30 minutes on your right side for maximum effect. You can drink the tea at any time but it is most effective when taken in the morning. You can take Artichokes capsules, a half hour before every meal, if you really can’t take the bitterness of the tea.

2.  An infusion of yarrow or achillea millefolium is bitter for some while for others the taste is both sweet and bitter. Bile elimination can be stimulated by drinking this tea 30 minutes before the main meals.

The infusion is prepared by adding a tablespoon of the herb in boiling water, about a cup. Let the herb steep for at least 5 minutes after covering the cup. Take 1 or 2 cups of the warm drink before meals. The tea has can treat nausea, loss of appetite, duodenal and gastric ulcers, abdominal bloating, hepatitis and hyperacidity gastritis.

3. Dandelion or taraxacum officinale is a powerful herb which can aid in draining the liver and bile flow into the digestive system. It stimulates the liver activities.

An infusion can be made with 2 teaspoons of the whole dandelion plant in water, a cup. You will need to take 2-3 cups daily. You can also use dandelion stem, 10 to 15 stems daily, to cure biliary dyskinesia or hepatitis.

4. An infusion of St. John’s Wort or hypericum perforatum can provide biliary dyskinesia relief for some people and for others the St. John’s Wort oil works effectively.

The infusion is prepared in boiling water, a cup, with a teaspoon of minced herb. Cover the water and let it steep for atleast 15 to 20 minutes. Strain the water. 2-3 cups of this unsweetened tea taken daily or a teaspoon of the oil after each meal can treat hypotonic biliary dyskinesia or “lazy gallbladder”. The plant stimulates the liver and can also be used to treat gastric hyperacidity and gastritis.

5.  Celandine or Herba Chelidoni can provide pain relief for patients suffering from hypertonic biliary dyskinesia or bladder contractions. Celandine infusion is made from 3 grams of dried leaves in a cup of water. You will need to gradually drink a cup of this infusion during the day.

You can prevent biliary dyskinesia with changes to your diet. Eat regularly and lie down on your right after meals for at least 30 minutes so that the bile flow is proper. You can also avoid heavy food and fats.

Power Struggle Board Game Review

Do you have what it takes to rise through the ranks and succeed in the cut-throat business world? Pull the strings and take control of the corporation in Power Struggle! Best your enemy executives in influence, experience, shares and even corruption. Manipulate departments such as Accounting, Communications and Human Resources. Strategically place your managers and employees to make sure you end up the top dog in this corporate board game!

Power Struggle (or Power $ to promote to be accurate) is a corporation-themed strategy board game designed in 2009 by Bauldric & Friends. It seems to be a sleeper hit, not attracting a lot of publicity even though the vast majority of reviews and player feedback on it has been positive. It is a highly complex board game similar to Agricola, and has the same target demographic and the same lasting appeal.

The promise of the game is pretty simple: you and your fellow executives in the corporation are out to determine which of you is the most influential, wealthy, experienced and corrupt bigshot in the company! That's where the simplicity ends though, as Power Struggle boasts a half dozen victory paths, a huge choice of actions and fairly complex rules and mechanisms.

Winning the game requires you to excel in at least 4 out of 6 tracks to victory. There is the Influence track determined by your control over the company's chairmanship and board of directors. There is the Shares track based on how much you have invested in company stock. There is the Main Departments track that improves as you successfully merge departments. There is a Counsel track based on how many external consultants you employ, and there is even a corruption track based on how often you bribe or are bribed by other players.

The 6th path to victory is a secret goal where you are allocated an Archenemy and a set of 3 tracks that you need to beat them in. Once you achieve the required threshold in 4 out of 6 of these paths, you can declare that the current round is the last one. However, other players might have more victory points than you, especially since the Archenemy path is secret, and also since other players could achieve more victory paths in the final round after your declaration. So it becomes a choice of declare-now-and-risk-it or wait-but-risk-somebody-else-declaring-first.

So how do you play the game and achieve victory? The full gameplay mechanisms are too complex to describe in this review, but I will attempt to provide a summary of how the game flows. The game board (which represents your corporation) has 6 different divisions, under each of which there are 6 departments. Above all these is the board of 5 directors, and above that is the chairman's office. The entire game is based on the control and movement of personnel in these areas.

The main mechanic involves placing a manager and his employees in a department slot. These managers will be your pawns in the battle for supremacy in the corporate world. At the start of every round, a Director's Meeting happens. During this meeting, the existing chairman is "let go" and the player with the most members in the board of directors gets to promote one of the board members to be the new chairman.

At the same time, control of each division is determined. The player with the most departments in each division gains control of the division and becomes the new division head. If the same player was the outgoing division head, nothing changes. However, if a different player gains control of the division, the old division head is kicked out and the player with the new major gets to place one of his goons as the new division head. Here's where it gets interesting: the old division head is not "fired". He gets to choose if he gets promoted to become a board member, or becomes an external consultant (which I guess is the same as being fired actually). So it may be a good thing to lose control of a division!

So what's the use of being a division head? Each division head (and the chairman) has unique abilities. The head of Controlling earns more money when payday arrives, while the head of Accounting gets to buy shares for cheaper. The head of Human Resources gets to hire more employees, while the head of Development gets to "entice" employees away from other players' departments. The Chairman gets to set up a new department for free, while the head of Communications appears to have the most powerful ability. He gets to determine how many turns there are in the current round, and what random events will affect the players.

These abilities are powerful enough as it is, but you can bribe them away from their owners for an even greater effect! A bribed Development head can "entice" 3 employees instead of 1. A bribed Communications head gets a free action before the next Director's Meeting. The other abilities also receive substantial boosts. Bribing is therefore very tempting. The game even provides you with nice bribe wallets so that nobody will see any money changing hands. They will still see the bribe wallet changing hands though, but at least they will not see how much (or how little) cash you've put inside it.

As mentioned before, the Communications head determines how many turns there are in a round, letting each player perform between 4 to 7 actions. These actions include creating new departments, splitting departments up into new ones and merging them to create main departments. You can also hire new employees, bribe other players for their abilities, and use cash to buy up shares, departments and external consultants. There are other special actions, such as the "entice" action that the Development head gets to use.

There are plenty of ways to play the game. As mentioned before, there are 5 different competency or victory paths you can excel in. You will usually need 3 of these plus your secret Archenemy goal in order to get the minimum 4 points needed to win the game. It is also very reactive, depending on what other players are doing. If everyone is buying shares (which are limited), it will not be efficient for you to compete with them. If other players are using their fired division heads to create external consultants, you can use yours to take control of the board of directors and chairmanship, and score Influence at the same time.

Power Struggle is a complex but fun and rewarding game. It may take a few games to get your head around the many rules and actions available. But once you do, you will enjoy a game that depicts the backstabbing and politics of corporate battles in a unique and exciting way. Power Struggle is ideal for you if you like advanced strategy games such as Agricola, or corporate-themed games such as Acquire (although at a much higher complexity).

Eat Right and Exercise to Lose Body Fat – Simple!

What's the first thing you think about doing when you try to "lose weight?" If you answered "eat less," you are not alone.

While in theory eating less and cutting calories will help you lose weight, you must first understand how many calories you are currently eating vs. How many calories your body needs to sustain itself each day. This is known as your Basal Metabolic Rate. By accurately determining your daily energy (calorie) requirements you can then determine if you need to eat more or less calories each day.

Figuring out your body fat needs is not that complicated. Here's why: eating too few calories will actually slow your body and metabolism, causing you to feel sluggish, crave high fat and sugary foods, as well as leave you with no energy to exercise. Low caloric diets can actually cause you to gain weight because your body recognizes the symptoms of low calories as starvation and it goes into protection mode.

Protection mode includes hoarding of any calories as fat for emergency, breaking down muscle tissue (catabolism) to help supply calories needed to sustain life. A good example; How many times have you or someone you know worked out 6 days a week, would barely eat, and then at the end of the week weight yourself only to find out you had not lost a pound or actually earned weight? Sound familiar?

So how do you find out your caloric needs aka your Basal Metabolic Rate? Simple, contact a qualified fitness professional and have a skin fold caliper test done. Understanding your body fat vs. Your lean muscle is the key to success. By finding your measurements, your trainer can determine the amount of calories needed to support lean muscle, NOT body fat. Once you are eating the necessary calories required to support your BMR your body will begin shedding the unwanted fat because it no longer senses a need to hold on to fat in case you stop feeding it. In addition, as you lose body weight, your trainer will be able to determine if the weight is from fat, muscle or water. You want it to be fat of course.

Here is how that works; For every 1% of body fat lost you should lose approximately 1.3 / 4 to 2lbs of body weight so if your trainer takes your body fat and body weight and the next time he / she takes it your body fat has not changed but your weight is Down, you have lost muscle or water, neither of which is what you want. However if your trainer takes your body fat and weight, and your body fat is down 2% your body weight should show about a 4lb weight loss, ALL from fat.

It may sound complicated, but really, learning how to be healthy is just understanding what your body needs each day and making sure it gets it! Your trainer or fitness professional can accurately help you determine this requirement and work with you to modify and make the necessary changes to your habits. By understanding this simple measurement you can save years of struggle, frustration, failure and have the body you deserve. So get out there, learn what your Basal Metabolic Rate is, learn how to lose body fat, and eat!

How To Avoid Recurring Ovarian Cysts

Ovarian cysts are a very common problem among a lot of women and having to live with constant pain, bloating and feelings of nausea is no joke. The problem is that many women are not even aware that they have a cyst because there are not always symptoms, so whilst they may suffer some pain leading up to and during a period, they feel there is no cause for concern and so adopt a shut up and put up approach each month. For a large proportion of women, however, the symptoms can be very severe and may ultimately end in surgery, but even this does not guarantee the elimination of recurring ovarian cysts.

Every woman has the possibility of suffering from ovarian cysts because the core root lies within the menstrual cycle and it is when this cycle is interrupted, and there is an imbalance of either hormones or insulin, that the problems occur. Each month the body prepares itself for ovulation, by growing an egg inside an ovary. This egg is contained in a fluid filled sac or follicle. On a normal cycle, once the egg is mature, the sac breaks open to release the egg for possible fertilisation and the sac naturally dissolves. The empty sac becomes corpeus luteum which makes hormones that help prepare for the next egg. It is when this cycle goes wrong and the sacs don’t dissolve, that cysts are grown and can cause severe pain.

Surgery can be used to remove the offending cysts, but apart from being a costly and inconvenient exercise, there is a good chance that the cysts will recur. But the great news is that recent studies have shown that ovarian cysts can be shrunk and even removed by natural treatments and that there is every chance that if the natural methods are maintained, most women will avoid recurring ovarian cysts.

One of the most effective methods to help shrink the offending cysts, is a change of diet. Because high insulin levels can rock the boat and throw the menstrual cycle into chaos thus triggering the possibility of cysts growing, it is recommended that the daily intake of sugar be reduced. This can be done by simple methods such as taking less sugar in drinks, eating less sugary foods and in particular by avoiding all fizzy drinks as they contain an extremely high level of sugar. The diet should include lots of fresh fruit, vegetables and fish also garlic and grains. This healthier way of eating will help maintain the bodily functions and ensure that everything is operating to its best capacity. It also has the added bonus of weight loss, increased energy plus a feel good factor and better still, if maintained, will help shrink any cysts and prevent them from recurring.
