Hearing Aid Dispenser Test

In order to obtain a Hearing Aid Dispenser License, you must first pass the Hearing Aid Dispenser written and practical exam. The written exam is designed to verify your knowledge level in performing hearing aid dispensing related activities.

We would like to summarize the composition of the exam and its associated info based on the contents provided by the PSI exam site. The following exam information is for candidates in the state of California, but most of information here can be applied to other states. The composition of this exam will be categorized in 10 sections as following: 1. Client case history, 2. Ear inspection and procedure, 3. Audiometric testing, 4. Audiometric test result and audiogram interpretation, 5. Patient assessment and evaluation, 6. Amplification and hearing aid selection, 7. Ear impression and procedure, 8. Knowledge about hearing aids, 9. Hearing aid fitting with the patients, 10. Post-fitting care.

Most questions on the exam are either direct or negative, such as: what is not, where is not, what is, etc. Negative questions tend to be more difficult, thus, you need to pay special attention to any negative words, verbs, and phrases in the questions and answers.

The Hearing Aid Dispenser written exam is not designed with any highly complicated jargon. It has descriptive question that verify your competence to handle hearing loss patients. The exam is not difficult if you apply common sense to the questions.

Secondly, the Hearing Aid Dispenser practical examination is a very straight forward procedure. In this exam, you should keep in mind that you need to talk continuously about the procedure you are doing until the exam is finished.

Here I would like to briefly explain how to handle the exam and how not how to handle the exam. The exam is composed of three parts: Audiometric testing, Ear impression, and Post-fitting care. Audiometric testing is also divided into three parts: 1. Setup the audiometer, 2. Ear or otoscopic inspection, 3. Audiometric testing. Same with Ear impression: 1. Ear inspection, 2. Ear impression procedure, 3.BTE pre-delivery. Post-fitting care is composed of 4: 1. Replacement of tube, 2. Delivery and orientation, 3. Routine service an ITE, 4. Trouble shooting for hearing aids.

You will need to bring your own subject to be tested for the audiometric testing and ear impression. Your subject and you should wear decent attire that represents how sincerely you are participating in the exam and that show your professionalism. Please do not wear tank-top t-shirt or slippers, etc. When your name is called, follow the guide to the appropriate room to be tested. Please do not forget to greet to the proctors and show your sincerity in the full course of the exam.

Most of the time, there will be two proctors. You may be nervous, but it is fine. Sometimes, a little nervousness leads to a better result and represents a good faith to the exam. When you describe something, specifically in the post-fitting section, you should talk continuously until the exam is finished. And you must keep eye contact with the proctor to deliver your knowledge about any subject to get a better point.

In the exam, if you make a minor mistake, ask them if you can do it again correctly, and just do it without their permission unless the proctors firmly say not to do it. The proctors are not only marking your scores, but also observing how you handle the exam as if you are a professional in the real world who cares about hearing loss patients. Your professional attitude and sincerity toward the exam are important although it is not explicitly described in the test guideline.

Before you take the practical examination, you should practice all of the exam procedure at least 30 times thoroughly so you can get familiar with it. We believe you will pass the Hearing Aid Dispenser written and practical exam if you follow the above-mentioned guideline.

We all wish you pass the exam.

Self Hypnosis – Using the Law of Attraction to Manifest Your Dreams With Abundance

When I say dreams, I'm not referring to your nightly visions while your subconscious takes over, even though your subconscious does play a role while your wake as well. However, needless to say, I am talking about the Dreams that you contain within your soul as a human being, CONCIOUSLY!

The items (whether concrete or abstract) that you wish to acquire, achieve, obtain … within your lifetime. These things are important to all people and vital to success in life! When discussing these types of dreams with others, most people will state the obvious, "Hold on to your dreams!" … I say "That may be important, but HOW LONG are you going to hold on to them before you TAKE ACTION ? "

Unfortunately, I've come across the paths of so many individuals that have so much talent, so much compassion, and so much to offer. These people also have big dreams stuck deep within them … BUT They simply are not willing to get off the couch and MAKE IT HAPPEN! This does not have to be you. As a matter of fact, I do not think it is. I think that because of the simple fact that you are taking action towards your personal development by reading this, you are the type that is going to do BIG & Great THINGS with your life! Just Remember, You manifest through your thoughts but you things happen via your actions.

"Having vested our confidence in another person, we bought to let him know our full support. Because of this, more often than not he will respond magnificently, and far beyond our first expectations."

– As Bill Sees It, p. 144

I'm vesting my confidence in you right now, my friend!

One of my dreams is to truly touch someone's life. It's easy for me to visualize and feel this because its already happened, but "what if" your dream "seems" so far out reach?

The truth in my industry (Marketing) is most people will fail, but you do not have to be a part of that group, my friend. You can be "The Elite" that makes it to the top (in whatever your doing to make a change in this world) as long as you are DRIVEN & DEDICATED! As we discussed before, Certyesty is a huge factor that will determine your success. You must BELIEVE that you are going to ACHIEVE your dreams. It will happen when you're least expecting it, but then you'll look back and think to yourself, "I remember dwelling on that dream over and over again.

When it "sees" out of reach:

The best thing to do in this situation is to utilize what people refer to as affirmations. It can be described as Self Hypnosis. Now, before you leave me on that note, please hear me out. Self Hypnosis is NOT some cosmic thing, religion, cult or evil practice or anything of that sort for that matter. It is in fact something that you do on a daily basis without even realizing it. It is true that if you "think you can or can not, you are right."

This is all that self-hypnosis is, and it is the basis of The Law of Attraction which is psychological and based off of Quantum Physics. The mind is either a powerful tool or a powerful weapon (against yourself). I know because I deal with a mental disorder. The great news is that you can use it for your advantage. By focusing on positive things, visualizing & feeling your dreams, you can make them come into the reality of life!

Repeat to yourself on a daily basis, "I'm in the process of achieving my dreams. My dreams are just around the corner. I can do anything that I set my mind to." (Have fun creating your own affirmations. Just make sure that they are positive, in the present tense, also believable and achievable.) Before you know it, you will see things in a new light. You'll be in a positive vibration.

The Law of Attraction AND GOD will take it from there! Just make sure you're sending up the right messages and truly Visualizing and FEELING! Then, one day, by surprise it will happen and you'll definitely be living the life of your dreams! Badda Bing, Badda Boom!

Benefits of Visual Merchandising

Capturing the attention of shoppers is largely achieved through window displays. By creating the right effect at the storefront you can effectively create an urge in potential customers to make purchases. This aspect of displaying available products to stimulate sales is known as visual merchandising and it is one of the oldest and most effective marketing techniques for the retail sector. So what are the acquired benefits of having an effective shop window dressing policy?

· Creating and urge – displaying products effectively stimulates an impulsion in potential customers to make a purchase. For instance if a lady walks past a beautifully dressed mannequin she is likely to be attracted to the look and will be motivated to look the same. This significantly affects sales.

· Enforcing store/company identity – shops or companies all have their uniqueness and individuality and this can be reflected well in the way products are displayed. There needs to be a structured theme that will resonate well with shoppers. This is especially so with franchises or chain stores which have a structured identity.

· Create a shopping experience – retail sales is not only about the final purchase it is a process. This involves engagement of potential buyers at different levels. Having an attractive storefront is one initial link between a shop and a buyer and first impressions are lasting impressions. A great initial engagement is likely to lead to future relationships with buyers.

· Making a statement – certain products require more aggressive marketing techniques and this may include the use of visual props. The shop window dressing can be effective in creating an engaging marketing gimmick that will surely attract plenty of eyes which can ultimately be converted into sales.

· Artistic expression – shop window dressing is an art and this expression can be used as a tool to compliment the décor and color scheme of a shop. There is no doubt that striking displays are pretty attractive spectacles.

It is apparent that a shop’s window display is not just a visual component. It plays a great role in dictating the spending habits of potential customers. It is for this reason that the shop window dressing should be well planned and executed to ensure that it captivates that right target market. This will lead to sales conversions that are to the advantage of shop owners. Remember if you do not have sufficient skills to do a good job of window shop dressing you should get an expert to do it; this will payoff in the long run.

Back Ache Symptoms: Very Much On The Fore

Back ache symptoms appear in nearly eight out of ten people at some point or the other in their lives. These symptoms could be inveterate, sharp, and at times, chronic. Back ache is usually a result of malfunctioning of the spine due to damage to the spine, ligaments, discs or muscles. The symptoms could be minor or major depending on the cause.

Symptoms Reflect On The Causes

Different causes and conditions will present varying symptoms and different degrees of intensity. It is important to consult a doctor regarding any new or changing pain symptoms. Some of the common symptoms are:

The actual pain can be sharp or dull. It may be concentrated in a small or specific area, localized to a region of the back, or spread throughout a large area. The pain might be just in the back or may radiate into the neck, face, arms, legs, or buttocks.

Nerve involvement often causes a tingling feeling. This is most common in pinched cervical nerves and sciatica. In the case of a pinched cervical nerve root, the patient will often feel tingling in the arms, wrists, or hands. Many patients with sciatica and other lower backache syndromes experience tingling in the buttocks, legs, or feet. This tingling sensation can be mild or severe.

Numbness is a very scary symptom associated with many backache conditions. The feeling might occur in the actual location of the pain, but more commonly radiates into the arms or legs. Numbness in the hands or feet is common in serious cervical and lumbar conditions and can be a sign of severe nerve involvement.

Muscular weakness is also a relatively common side effect of some back problems. Weakness can strike the back, arms, legs, hands, or entire regions, depending on the location and severity of the underlying condition. Weakness is another frightening side effect of nerve involvement in any number of back pain syndromes.

You can lessen the difficulties caused by pain in the back if these back ache symptoms are diagnosed in time and treated appropriately. Correct treatment and the suitable remedial measures are very important.

Things To Pay Attention To

If you are unsure about the nature of your back pain symptoms and unable to decide on the course of treatment, think about the following:

The duration of the ache is very important and indicates if your ache is of acute or chronic in nature. Acute pain lasts for weeks and can be cured immediately while chronic pain may last for months and needs on-going treatment for complete relief.

Sudden change in your routine can also be the root cause of the problem, such as change in job, sleeping habits, and others.

A change in your activity pattern may also be the cause of backache.

Obesity can also be a cause. As the lower back bears most of the weight of the body, excess weight can cause back ache.

Your chair, workstation, mattress, pillow all could be the culprit.

Some Side Effects Of Acne Medications

People with acne might will generally try anything to get rid of it. Who can blame them? With the wide variety of acne medication on the market, getting rid of acne is something that can be achieved by most people.

However, for every acne medication, there are side effects. And before you try any acne medication, it is important that you understand the risks and the possibility of side effects.

Starting with the most powerful acne medication- Isotretinoin (Accutane)

Isotretinoin (Accutane) is an acne medication that is only prescribed by a doctor for cases of severe acne. It is seen as an acne medication of the last resort. One of the reasons for this is that the side effects of this acne medication can be severe. Do not take this lightly. The side effects of Isotretinoin are so many that blood work is needed before it can be administered.

Some side effects of Isotretinoin include:

* Birth defects. This is the most serious side effect. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding may not take Isotretinoin. There are no studies about whether the risk of birth defects is the same for men, but men who take Isotretinoin are advised not to get women pregnant.

* Chapped lips

* Depression, feeling ‘off’

* Urinary problems

* Thinning of the hair (temporary)

* Joint and muscle pain

* Headaches

* Dry, chapped skin

* Decrease in night vision

Antibiotics are another acne medication with some potential side effects. Many studies have appeared showing the need for restraint in the use of antibiotics. This includes using antibiotics as an acne medication.

The reason for this is simple. Frequent antibiotic use can lead to resistant strains of bacteria. This goes for acne as well. Over time, acne can become resistant to antibiotics if used as a long-term treatment.

Other possible side effects include:

* Rashes

* Photosensitivity

* Gastrointestinal problems

Birth Control Pills

There are many well-known side-effects associated with birth control pills. If used as an acne medication, be aware of these side effects, which include:

* Vaginal bleeding

* Retaining water

* Melasma

* Increased risk of heart attack, strokes, blood clots and breast cancer

* Depression

4 Disadvantages of Eating Too Much Fibre

Fibre is an indigestible carbohydrate that is found in plant cell walls and contains no calories and no vitamins. There are two types of fibre; soluble and insoluble with both of these essential for good health. Soluble fibre travels through the body until it reaches the digestive tract where it then dissolves in water to form a sticky, gel like substance. This gel holds food in your digestive tract for longer which can help with blood sugar control and ensure that you get all the nutrients from your food. Insoluble fibre travels to the digestive tract where it then absorbs water and expands. This expanded mass then helps push waste products through your digestive tract which promotes regular bowel movements and is also thought to reduce your risk of bowel infections. Despite these numerous benefits getting too much fibre can have negative side effects. In this article I am going to be discussing four of the disadvantages of eating too much fibre.

1) CONSTIPATION:- One of the benefits of insoluble fibre is that it promotes regular bowel movements which in turn reduces constipation. However, both types of fibre require water to work effectively. Therefore, consuming a lot of fibre can cause the water in your digestive tract to dry up making your stools dry, hard and difficult to pass. This can then lead to constipation and difficulty excreting waste materials.

2) LOSS OF GOOD CHOLESTEROL:- One of the functions of soluble fibre is that it helps remove cholesterol from the blood. However, cholesterol is not all bad and research has suggested that high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol has a number of benefits including protecting the heart and brain. Soluble fibre removes this ‘good’ cholesterol along with the less beneficial low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Therefore, consuming too much soluble fibre can lead to low levels of HDL cholesterol in your blood.

3) POOR MINERAL ABSORPTION:- Another benefit of soluble fibre is that it holds food in the digestive tract for longer so that all the nutrients can be absorbed. However, eating too much fibre can actually have the opposite effect and prevent your body from absorbing a number of minerals including calcium, iron and zinc.

4) WIND:- As I discussed above both types of fibre interact with water. This process causes gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and hydrogen to be produced. Therefore, eating too much fibre can cause high levels of these gases to be present in the digestive tract. This can then lead to you having a bloated stomach and passing wind regularly.

Although fibre has a number of health benefits you also need to be aware of these potential problems. Luckily most of the above side effects are only associated with excessive consumption. Most people do not get enough fibre in their diets as it is so increasing your consumption is unlikely to lead to problems unless you already eat a high fibre diet.

Facts About Throat Cancer

It is estimated that more than seventy percent of the cancer person diagnosed with the throat cancer are at the advanced stage of it. It is more likely in men than in women. The men have 89 percent chance more than women in death cause due to throat cancer. In American alone the there were around seventy hundred death approximately. When comparing with different ethnics the afro-Asian men have 50 % higher risk than any other people in the world. The Caucasian is least affected. This is due to the food habit employed by them.

Among the various cancer types, the throat cancer is the deadly one. The death rate  is higher than any other type of the cancer. The reason for this is the discovery of the cancer in the later stage of the development. The throat cancer symptoms are similar to the day-to-day problems like sore throat, pain in throat. This makes its discovery in its early stage difficult.

The throat cancer also leads to other primary and secondary cancer in the affected region. This is the cause for death in many case even if the patients able to get rid of the basic throat cancer. It will give way to other cancer which are more deadlier. Among the oral cancers the squamous cell carcinomas is the common type of the cancer that is found 90% in the world oral cancer list. The majority of the people affected by this cancer are above 40 years of age. While the reason for the cancer at young contributes to the food habit and the tobacco factor.

The smoking is the major factor for the throat cancer occurring in people at young age. While the alternative methods of smoking like the chewing tobacco seems to more deadly than the smoking. The person using the so-called conventional method of tobacco usage will land themselves in trouble. The using of the tobacco in other form than smoking is promoted since it reduces the chance of lung cancer. But it has negative effect in the oral cancer. This may also lead to other secondary cancer and heart related diseases.

The previous ratio of men to women affected by the throat cancer is 6:1. Now the ratio seems to 2 men affected to each woman. The increase in the ratio contributes to collective factor like change in lifestyle, food habit among other habits.

How to Measure Your Blood Pressure – Simple Ways to Do it Yourself

The average normal adult blood pressure is 120 systolic and 80 diastolic or simply stated as 120 over 80 in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) or 120/80 mmHg. Every individual varies in his or her blood pressure level.

The blood pressure reading mentioned above may be used as a reference in measuring your own blood pressure; a little higher or lower from these numbers are still considered within the safe limits.

There are several ways to determine your own blood pressure, you can start with your pulse, a coin-operated machine in a convenient stores, buy a battery operated gadget or purchase the old trusty device used by some doctors called a sphygmomanometer.

Measure the Blood Pressure with Your Pulse

The pulse can be taken from any parts of the body but the ideal part is the wrist. For this purpose use a clock or a watch with a second hand.

All you have to do is place the arm on the table with the elbow parallel to the heart. Find your pulse in the wrist. A right-handed should press the right side of the wrist with the palm facing upward using two to three fingers of the left hand. A left-handed would have to do the opposite.

Get a steady beat for a period of one minute. If already an expert, this can be reduced every ten seconds and multiply it by six. The steady beat represents the blood pressure on the beats per minute and the volume of blood surge to pump the heart. Therefore, a lower pulse rate means a lower blood pressure under resting stage.

Another way to measure your own blood pressure using your pulse is by standing. Just hold your arm upward in the air and find the pulse in the wrist.

Using a Sphygmomanometer

Wrap the band (cuff) around the arm to stop the flow of blood then pump the sphygmomanometer to produce some pressure.

Use a stethoscope to listen to an artery just below the band then slowly release the band. As the blood starts to flow, the systolic pressure (high number) will come through. On the part of the diastolic pressure (low number), the beats will stop and the sound becomes steady.

The use of a stethoscope in other sphygmomanometers is no longer needed due to its built in sound-sensing device which is more sensitive and objective than the ear.

In buying your own sphygmomanometer, directions in its use is sometimes not available. Hence, the following directions on how to use a sphygmomanometer may come in handy.

1. The band should be snugly wrapped but not tightly.

2. Apply pressure using the pump about 200 to 225 millimeters. If in shape, 150 millimeters is alright.

3. Drain the air from the band on a slow and steady basis. Some devices are already on automatic mode.

4. Try to get several measurements to get consistent results. In some cases, inaccurate readings arise due to surges in current, charge build up and low batteries.

5. When taking your own blood pressure always use a table. The elbow should be placed rested on the table about the level of the heart.

The beauty of knowing how to measure your own blood pressure will allow you to gain a personal knowledge of your body for your convenience. Any changes you make on your diet and the effect of your routine exercise will be closely monitored thereby sensing a better body control. Moreover, the abnormal rise in your blood pressure when doctors do the taking, known as white-coat hypertension, will be eliminated.

But many studies have been done to see if being obese or fat as a kid poses a danger to the health of a person. And according to the research results, it does prove to be dangerous, similar to the kind of danger smoking gives to a person.

That kind of thinking might not be good at all for the kids. In fact, parents should be responsible for the kind of food their children are eating, what activities they are involved in and if the kind of lifestyle they have are bad for them.

Educating oneself on the risks of teenage adulthood will be very helpful for parents. Being obese as a teenager increases the risks of the kid to a lot of medical illnesses naturally heart diseases, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, low energy levels, mood swings and many more. Diabetes among Children

Diabetes among Children

Even Children, like adults, are often diagnosed with diabetes. Most children have type 1 or juvenile diabetes that will require insulin on a regular basis to sustain proper body functions. There are growing numbers of children that are now being diagnoses with type 2 diabetes that has historically only been found in adult populations.

Most facts about children and diabetes highlight the importance of understanding this disease and finding ways to manage and control it effectively:

  • One in every 300-450 children in the world has diabetes.
  • Approximately 175,000 children in the United States under the age of 18 have diabetes.
  • Type 1 or juvenile diabetes occurs when the immune system begins to generate cells that destroy the pancreatic cells responsible for producing insulin in the body. If the child does not receive insulin every day the child will die.
  • 13,000 children are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes every year. These children are at a greater risk for heart attack, stroke, kidney disease and immune complications throughout their lives.
  • Type 2 or adult onset diagnosis is becoming more prevalent in children. This is a condition where the body is unable to utilize the insulin produced because it has built up a resistance to the insulin. Over time the pancreas is unable to produce sufficient quantities of insulin, and complications arise.
  • Type 2 diabetes is more closely linked to obesity, especially if there is a history of diabetes in the family. It is also more prevalent in African American, Latino, Asian, and American Indian children.

Controlling diabetes in children

Just like adults, children diagnosed with type 2 diabetes will need to closely monitor both their food intake and the amount of exercise that they complete each day. While not required to eliminate all their favorite foods, it is important to teach children concepts of portion control and healthy eating. Often in todays culture there is so much to get done in a day that meals are often skipped or eaten on the run or in the car. Fast foods are not a good substitute for fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats and whole grains.

Try to schedule so that your child has time to sit down to a balanced meal as often as possible, ideally three times per day. Try to include whole grains, fiber, lean meats, fish, dairy products and fresh fruits and vegetables. To get children to eat healthy try the following:

  • Trail mix including a variety of nuts, dried soy nuts, dried fruits instead of potato chips.
  • Granola bars instead of cookies or donuts.
  • Whole grain bread instead of white bread.
  • Carrot and celery sticks instead of French fries
  • Bake foods instead of deep frying
  • Salads with meals or as an appetizer before meals
  • Raw vegetables or fruits dipped in yogurt

Remember that modeling healthy lifestyles will help your children learn. Exercise together as a family. Go for a bike ride, walk, or go to the park and have fun together. Small changes in lifestyles can lead to big changes in health conditions over time. Start small and work together as a family to reach your diet and exercise goals.

How to Find the Right Elk Hunting Outfitter

Thousands of elk hunters every year take to the woods to hunt elk. According to some recent stats less than 32% of all elk hunters have any real success. This is usually due to the fact that the 32% that are having success are well experienced or using an elk hunting outfitter. An outfitter can help to greatly increase your odds of harvesting an elk. The reason they are so successful is they usually have many years of hunting experience and know the area very well where they offer their hunts. However, just because someone calls themselves an outfitter does not mean they are any better at harvesting an elk than you are. You need to do proper research to find the perfect hunting outfitter for your elk hunt.

The first thing you need to do is use Google to find outfitters in the state you plan to hunt elk in. You'll want to search for terms like "Colorado elk hunting" or Colorado elk hunting outfitters. "Obviously replace Colorado with whatever state you wish to hunt in. Using Google build a list of 6 to 12 outfitters that interest you; do not Base you decision on the quality of their website, that has no bearing on the quality of their outfitter services. Once you've got your list you'll want to then use Google and search for the exact name of each outfitter on your list. This will help you see if there are any negative reviews or outstanding complaints against that outfitter.

After you've narrowed down your list of outfitters to ones that have no negative reviews or complaints you'll want to make sure they're properly licensed with the state. You'll want to call the wildlife management department for the state they operate in and ask if they are properly licensed and / or have any outstanding issues with their department. It's important to make sure that outfitter can legally offer their services before you make any deposits. DO NOT make any deposits until you are sure you want to use that outfitter. Once you've picked a few that can legally operate in your chosen state you'll want to call and ask them questions such as "What is your success rate?" And what do they offer if you tag out early; Such as finishing or other game hunting. By properly researching yourhunting outfitter you can ensure you will not have to worry about having a negative experience.

Chronic Urticaria – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Urticaria, commonly known as “hives” typically develops as rash on the skin, accompanied by severe itching. Acute urticaria is of short duration, up to six weeks, and is usually caused by certain food products, medicines, insect bites and infections. This usually responds well to standard treatment like antihistamines.

Chronic urticaria is usually of much longer duration, and in most cases, the offending cause is not known. Standard modern medicine may not be very helpful here. It is in such patients that Ayurvedic herbal treatment may be very useful and effective. One major advantage of Ayurvedic herbal medicines in such an affliction is that medicines may be taken for long periods without any serious side-effects.

I shall now discuss the different types of urticaria, from the point of view of Ayurveda, and mention their Ayurvedic treatment in brief.

When disturbed “Vata” dosha is mainly responsible for causing urticaria, a pricking sensation is predominant, and this type of urticaria is called “Sheetapitta”. When disturbed “Kapha” dosha is mainly responsible, itching is the predominant symptom, and this type of urticaria is called “”Udarda”. Impurities are formed in the “Rakta” dhatu due to improperly induced emesis (vomiting), and the resulting urticaria is termed as “Kotha”. When this kotha becomes recurrent, it is termed as “Utkotha”.

For the treatment of urticaria, application of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) oil and fomentation with hot water is beneficial. Induced vomiting and induced mild purgation are beneficial, where symptoms are severe, however, these procedures should be carried out by qualified and experienced physicians.

All efforts should be made to try to avoid the offending cause, if known. Soda bicarbonate powder mixed in warm water, when applied to the hives, gives immediate relief from itching. Ayurvedic medications containing Trikatu or Marich(Piper nigrum) and Turmeric (e.g. Haridrakhand Yog) are useful in controlling urticaria. Other products like Sameerpannag, Sutshekhar, Arogyavardhini, and Gandhak Rasayan are also very useful. Medicines like Kamdudha, Mukta and Gairik are useful in reducing the burning sensation associated with itching in urticaria.

Patients with chronic urticaria may not respond readily to the above mentioned treatment. A detailed history for the symptoms, and a detailed study of the constitutional framework of the patient is essential in deciding the ideal combination of medicines for each patient, so as to get maximum results. Treatment for the impurities caused in the “Rakta” Dhatu, and treatment for stress, are two important principles of treatment which contribute significantly to the success of treatment. Therefore, medicines like Sariva ( Hemidesmus indicus), Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Neem (Azadirachta indica), Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi) and Shankhpushpi (Consecora decussata) are useful in chronic urticaria. Ultimately, treatment has to be tailor-made for each patient having chronic urticaria.
