I love Siamese cats, but I will tell you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth with honest Siamese cat information!

Lets start with the ‘good’ facts about Siamese.

Siamese can be loyal, obsessively loyal. Siamese are smart, although there is the occasional exception (or maybe it’s just pretending) Siamese cats are often talkative; they seem to understand you even if they choose to be a little deaf at times. Siamese kittens and cats have character, no bland and boring snooze cat here. Siamese cats give and expect to receive. All the time.

A Siamese cat has an easy care coat so no long and expensive visits to the beauty parlor required. Others even appreciate having their nails done – a ‘caticure of sorts’. You can even buy nail covers in some fun designer colors, great for the indoor Siamese and to protect your furniture.

Siamese are beautiful and a pleasure to watch. Certainly better than watching TV. This cat knows it is special and is happy to bestow some of its’ special aura on a special person. Your Siamese will love to keep you company. And keep you company. And again. The Siamese kitten or cat loves heat more than most cats, preferably in your bed if they get half a chance.

That Siamese loyalty may be more dog-like than a cat. Bad? If you are the kind of person who hates to be smothered, you might be better off with a less demonstrative bred. Siamese cats expect to help you write your great American novel (Chapter 1: kjf*&^%#^9ojn3o9iunf93). Don’t expect to hide in the bathroom for a bit of peace and quiet – it’s their favorite room, and anyway they refuse to be shut out. Period.

Siamese are clever. Don’t expect your bright Siamese to wait for you to come home before being naughty. They need to keep that brain amused and if you don’t leave them copious reading material or some good films about bird watching, your Siamese (even a Siamese kitten) will find amusement wherever they can. I have seen some amazing flower arrangements and indoor gardens created by a bored Siamese. Be prepared to spend time playing.

I have known many quiet Siamese, but when they are noisy, boy are they noisy! If you bring home a talkative version, meditation and mind over matter lessons might be in order.

When they are bad, they are very bad

The ‘ugly’ side of Siamese cats? Facts can be deceiving and no single Siamese is all bad – although some come close.

A jealous cat? Yes, so best not tease your Siamese or you’ll be at the receiving end of sulks for as long as your cat chooses to punish you. To speed the forgiveness process little hors d’oeuvres might eventually be accepted. And please, never fuss over another cat when your Siamese is within earshot. Long after you have forgotten all about it an ambush of historic proportions will be mounted on the surprised rival for your affections.

So as not to embarrass my ‘butter would not melt’ writing companion I will stop here but I would be remiss if I did not briefly mention dodgy litter habits, a certain sneakiness, and a tendency towards Attilla the Hun-type dominance.

Please don’t let these little details put you off. If this Siamese cat information hasn’t put you off, then you may be one of the suitable and special people for whom a Siamese is a welcome addition to the family. I certainly couldn’t be without one.

Overusing a Massage Chair

Many people will sit in a comfortable chair for several hours at a time to read a book, watch television or simply to relax. Depression is when we all feel sad, moody or low from time to time. Some people experience these feelings intensely, for long periods of time and often without reason. In teens, it is more irritability rather depression is a symptom that stands out in most adolescents and teens. Teens may appear to be hostile, grumpy or easily lose his or her temper. Fifty percent of people, who travel, suffer a travel – related illness. All travelers should be well prepared for travel and be prepared to protect themselves from travel related illness. In this issue various aspects of travel related illness have been discussed with related protective measures.

According to ayurveda traveling causes vitiation of vata dosha. Vata dosha regulates all the activities of body like digestion, respiration, excretion, transmission of nerve impulses, reflexes, body movements etc. When vata gets vitiated due to traveling all these normal functions of body also get imbalanced. The imbalances in body functions project themselves as travel related illness.

Motion sickness:

Almost every body is susceptible to motion sickness. Fatigue, giddiness, deprivation of sleep, nausea and vomiting are the main unwelcome symptoms of motion sickness. Avoid consuming alcohol, pain killers, spicy foods, fried foods and junk foods during traveling. Try to relax and chose a window seat. Do not read or talk. Or watch someone who is motion sick.

Eat light food.

Include pomegranate, ginger and curds in your diet while traveling. Rinse your mouth and wash your face with cold water as soon as you take your food.


Although travelers' dirrhea is mild inconvenience to a traveler, it may at times be life threatening too. Upsets in digestive system frequently occur in travelers due to stress, time zone changes, irregular meal times and new foods. But serious diarrhea during traveling is caused by bacteria, viruses or parasitic infections. The best way out is to take adequate precautionary measures.

Wash your hands frequently. Use sanitizing liquids, hand washes or gels which cleanse the hands without water. Always use disposable hygienically packed tissue papers than towels. Avoid street, roadside foods, buffet meals. Select food which is well cooked and served hot. Thick-skinned fruits which you can peel yourself are usually safe. Avoid raw or undercooked meat, fish, uncooked vegetables, salads. Be careful full with unpasteurized milk and milk products. Always use sealed mineral water, canned juices and beverages. Never use ice cubes or unsealed bottled beverages. Bottled Beer, wine and hot coffee or tea are safe. Drink from original containers or clean glasses.
If you get mild diarrhea eat light, soft and semi solid foods like idli, soups etc which are easily digestible. Avoid heavy, spicy and non vegetarian foods. Drink plenty of fruit juices (canned or hygienically packed). Keep yourself well hydrated. Consult a doctor immediately if dirhea leads to dehydration.


People often become constipated when traveling because their normal diet and daily routines are disrupted. Drink plenty of water and consume food which are rich in fibers to avoid constipation.

Try to adhere to routine food timings. Drink a big glass of water every day morning. Avoid frequent consumption of tea or coffee. Taking two thriphala tablets with warm water before going to bed helps to normalize bowel movements. These tablets should be avoided during pregnancy.

Tired feet

Even healthy people can get blood clots in their legs after long hours of traveling. Try to walk every now and then. Drink water, stretch your calf muscles while you're sitting and wear support stockings.

Foot bath for tired feet:

Massage your foot with little coconut oil and soak them in warm water. You can add few drops of lavender oil or peppermint oil or sandal wood oil to warm water. After a foot bath rub your foot. Relax after a foot bath.

Prevention of Malaria:

To prevent mosquito bites and malaria wear mosquito repellent. Stay indoors between dusk and dawn. The malaria spreading mosquitoes generally feed at this time. Apply mosquito repellent, to your clothes and bedding. Wear socks, long pants, and long-sleeve shirts when outdoors. Use a mosquito net while sleeping. Stay in air-conditioned, screened accommodation.

Jet lag

To avoid jet lag get plenty of sleep before you leave. Do not drink a lot of alcohol while on flight. Eat well-balanced meals and avoid over eating. Exercise as much as you can on your trip. Get used to a new time zone by going along with the local meal and bedtime schedules.


Do not drive in unfamiliar places where you know less about that regional language, road conditions, rules of the road, condition of the vehicles. Etc. Choose your transportation carefully. Check the security, life saving facilities provided in the transport. Chose, the cab with seat belts, hotels with fire escape and ferries with life preservers. Never swim in unknown rivers or seas when you are not familiar with sea currents and waves.


Have a safe sex when you are with unfamiliar new partners. Alcohol, drugs and sex are dangerous combination


Get immunized with vaccines before traveling. Avoid animal bites and saliva. If you are bitten by dog ​​wash the wound immediately with soap and water.

Overcoming the Fear of Death with Hypnosis

Necrophobia, a recurring and obsessive fear of death, is one of the most common of all fears or phobias. Both of these findings are significant in the battle against heart disease. FM is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain and weakness.  The American College of Rheumatology established a guideline for diagnosis in 1990.  It is defined by 11 to 18 tender points located throughout the body.  When your doctor examines you for FM, he/she will locate these painful little points by touch and reaction to pain.  These tender points are mainly found in the muscles around the neck, shoulders, chest, knees, the region around the elbow, and hips.

I was diagnosed in 1995, but lived with FM for many years before I could finally put a name on it.  It was a relief, in a way, because my pain and fatigue was finally validated, but I didn’t know what I was in for.  Later on, I realized many other conditions I had were related to FM.  The list just kept growing!

FM patients’ symptoms can vary in quantity and degree.  It is never exactly the same as the next person.  You may have one or you may have all (I hope it’s the former), but all of the information below pertains to Fibromyalgia.

Aside from the obvious muscle pain and weakness, symptoms of Fibromyalgia include:  allergies, disequilibrium (trouble with balance), dizziness, clumsiness, extreme fatigue, sleep starts (falling sensation), insomnia, sleep disturbances like apnea, headaches, increased menstrual pain, sensory sensitivity, sensitive skin, itching, histamine reactions like dermographia,  morning stiffness, stiffness when walking, mottled skin, carbohydrate cravings (sweets, too), yeast infections (Candida), tissue overgrowth, nail ridges, curved nails, ingrown hairs, easy scarring, anxiety, stress, cry easily, panic attacks, mood swings, sudden irritability, extreme sweating, more than average infections, shakes or tremors, bruising (more than the average person), weight gain or loss, bruxism (nighttime teeth grinding), numbness & tingling (Parasthesia), sinusitis, runny nose (frequent), ear pain, trouble swallowing, eye pain, sensitivity to certain materials (clothing, bed linens), heartburn, indigestion, weak grasp, shortness of breath, chest tightness, rapid heartbeat, painful intercourse, impotence, low-back pain, burning feet, dry eyes & mouth, hormonal fluctuations, delayed reactions to over exertion or stress, muscle twitches, swelling, mold & yeast sensitivity, pelvic pain, urinary frequency, abdominal cramps, bloating and nausea.

FM patients are probably familiar with the phrase “fibro fog”.  It refers to symptoms of FM that relate to cognitive dysfunction: memory problems, difficulty concentrating, words that come out jumbled, trouble making decisions, trouble spelling words you know, scattered thoughts.

If that’s not enough, we can add other debilitating disorders, syndromes or illnesses:  Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Chronic Myofascial Pain (CMP) (formally known as Myofascial Pain Syndrome), Migraines (in all forms), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), Interstitial Cystitis (IC) or painful bladder, Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP), Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ), Insulin Resistance (IR), Acid Reflux – GERD, Reactive Hypoglycemia (RHG), Depression and Anxiety.

That’s enough to make anyone want to go to bed and stay there!   I have had my moments – believe me!  Sometimes, it seems unbearable and that I can’t take one more second, but I HAVE TO and so do you!  Take it day-by-day and make the most of your good days.  At the end of a bad one – you can say you made it through another day and tomorrow might be better!

Asthma – A Simple Guide

Asthma is a common, multi-factorial respiratory condition that is associated with episodes of coughing and various degrees of breathing difficulty. It affects about 1 in 4 urban children, and can lead to death in serious cases.

Asthma is characterized by chronic 'background' inflammation of the upper to mid airways (bronchi), resulting in congested, mucous filled airways with episodes of acute flare-up, causing severe coughing and airway restriction (wheezing). This inflammation [inflammation: response by cells to 'non-self' elements such as chemical compounds, micro-organisms and radiation] is caused by two main factors:


Some people are born with a genetic predisposition where their immune system will 'over react' to external factors, causing the inflammatory response in the upper and mid airways associated with asthma. Thus, it could be said that asthma 'runs in families', and is an important question by a medical practitioner when first examining a patient.

* EXTERNAL FACTORS (most common)

There are various external factors that could cause asthma, but the following are the most common found:

Chemicals such as sulfuric, nitrous and volatile organic airborne and ingested chemicals. Pollutants, most notably Tobacco smoke & micro fibers of synthetic carpets in the average home. Allergens like pollen, dust mite excrement and dry airborne animal saliva. Micro-organisms such as various respiratory viruses, fungal spores & bacteria are also causes.

As mentioned earlier, these external as well as internal factors cause the 'background' infection, which then could be changed into an acute 'attack' where the threshold between chronic life sustaining, and life threatening will be crossed. Swollen Feet – Causes and Treatments

Some people have a problem with feet. They think feet are ugly, or ‘gross,’ or some other such nonsense. Now, every podiatrist knows that feet are one of the most interesting and beautiful parts of the human body. However, there are times when feet just don’t look the way they should. Sometimes feet have problems.

Swollen feet, for instance, aren’t exactly the pinnacle of natural beauty. Feet often swell because there’s something wrong in the foot itself, like an injury (such as a broken bone or a sprain), tumor, or infection. Or your foot may swell up after surgery. Swelling in these instances usually happens because the body is sending extra fluid to the area to promote healing.

Swelling in the feet can also be caused by conditions that affect your whole body, like hypertension (high blood pressure), heart failure, problems with your lymphatic system (lymphedema), simply getting older, or being overweight or pregnant.

Other causes include swelling from varicose veins, menstrual periods, or simply standing or sitting for a long period of time. Basically, any time excess fluid gathers or settles in the feet, it’s going to cause swelling. Feet are particularly susceptible because they’re such a long way from the heart, and blood has to fight against gravity to make its way back up there.

Swelling may be accompanied by other symptoms, or none at all. If swelling is from an injury, you’re also likely to have pain in the area, and the injured part of your foot may be warm to the touch with reddened skin. If you have an infection in your foot, you may have a fever or warmth in the foot as well.

Hypertension is a bit more subtle, since it doesn’t really have any overt symptoms (aside from swollen feet, of course, although you may not even have that symptom). So it’s a good idea to have your blood pressure checked regularly at any appointment with your doctor, which should reveal if your blood pressure is higher than normal.

Varicose veins may look like bunches of grapes, cords, or rope-like structures under your skin. Your legs may also feel achy, heavy and tired. Sometimes people with varicose veins also develop an itchy rash or even ulcers on the skin.

Lymphedema’s main symptom is actually chronic swelling in your entire leg (or arm), including your toes or fingers. It usually happens in just one leg or arm, but can occur in both at the same time. Your affected leg will also probably feel heavy, tight, achy, may be harder to move around, and may have thick and hard skin. Legs affected by lymphedema also tend to develop infections more easily.

Getting a complete medical history and thorough information about your symptoms is essential for a diagnosis of your condition. Your podiatrist will need to check with you about where exactly you’re experiencing swelling (is it just in your foot or is your leg swollen as well, for example), whether it comes and goes during certain times of the day (morning versus evening), whether anything makes it better or worse, and any other symptoms you may be experiencing.

Your doctor will perform a physical exam of your feet, and may check on your lungs, heart, abdomen and legs as well. X-rays (or other imaging studies), blood tests, ECGs, and urinalysis may be some of the tests used to diagnose your condition.

Treating your swollen appendages really depends on what’s causing the swelling. Sometimes home treatments can help. Elevating your feet above your heart while lying down can reduce swelling, as can support or compression stockings, exercising the legs, and reducing your salt intake. Medications may be prescribed, such as diuretics (which help the body get rid of excess fluid), or other medications specific to your condition, such as hypertension medicines or antibiotics to fight infections. Sometimes surgery is necessary to correct the cause of your swelling feet.

Some conditions that cause swollen feet may be life-long. But, with proper treatment and regular visits to your podiatrist, there’s no reason why your feet can’t be just as beautiful and interesting as they were before.

The Irreversible Damage of Loud Noises

Prolonged listening to loud music with time will damage your hearing forever.

In our modern society we walk around, bike, jog or even sleep with our Walkman headsets on all the time. All those headsets are equipped with sound blasters which can be turned on to a high decibels frequency of over 85 dB at will and at anytime which means sometimes at all times.

Any sound over 85 dB if listened to over a certain period of time will damage your hearing forever.

So now its not only old folks who have audible difficulties, but a whole lot of young people also, and its on the rise.

That engine was supper loud I'm sure above 85 dB I now finally discovered the cause of that constant loud noise inside my head. I have no choice but to live with it. But sometimes I wish that sound would go away. If I concentrate on it, its loud and annoying. But I learned over the years to ignore it. Acouphene is caused by a disorder of sound transmission to the brain. Our nervous system cells are always transmitting sounds of all sorts to our brain. That's why the inner ear is equipped with sound filters which can classify or choose not to emit certain of those sounds to our conscious level.

When those fine sensors or sound filters are destroyed all kind of unwanted sounds are transmitted to our cerebral cortex.

It generate sound perception of all types. This is what is called acouphene. It could be only occasional or permanent, low or high, with or without hearing loss. There is hundredths of causes for acouphene and its very hard to identify. Many persons develop acouphene after listening to music on a high intensity level for too long.


The damage caused by loud noise is sly. At the beginning you do not even realize that there is any damage. Acouphene or the sensation of cotton in your ear should be a first warning sign. The first loss is located in the reduction of high frequencies sounds which are not so frequently used or heard during everyday life. When those loss start to reach the frequencies of the human voice and you realize that you do not hear as well anymore; The damage is permanent. By paying attention we will perceive that feminine voices seems to be lower and not as audible as the male voices. The deficiency will be felt more in a noisy environment and while sitting in front of your television, which will become harder to listen to at an average volume.
