Oral Yeast Infection – Yeast Infection on the Mouth

Oral yeast infections are a common disease, particularly for teenagers and men. It is also known as thrush or yeast infection of the mouth. Usually, it is easy to cure with medication if it is not caused by a chronic yeast infection.

Thrush is caused by the fungus yeast which actually there is present naturally in our body. It becomes a fungus when some certain conditions help it grow more than normal in our body. Some common ones are taking of antibiotics or some unhealthy diet choices like too much sugar and carbohydrates which feed the yeast. Also, some yeast types of food can make it overgrowth.

Yeast infection is not like any other kind of infection you see before. This happens because it grows and it spreads into the body very fast. One common part of the body to get yeast infection, after the vaginal area, is the mouth. This usually is populated with lots of bacteria of whose balance is easily broken. The oral yeast infection looks like white patches on the mouth with red sore tissues. Some people may experience pain during mastication and swallowing.

Thrush is easily picked up if you engage in oral sex with an infected person. This is very common for the teenagers. Also in children you can get mouth yeast infection from sucking the fingers or biting the nails. Often babies get thrush from sucking the bottles, no matter if you sterilize them.

Other cause of yeast infection on the mouth is taking antibiotics. As odd it may seem, the antibiotic can cause you yeast infections, and untreated or properly treated, this can turn into nasty ones. I say this from my own experience. This does not mean you have to take any antibiotics, but it means to take it when you really need it. For example, you can find other kind of treatment for acne conditions than taking long treatments of antibiotics. In time, they weakened your immune system which is a ground for easily picking infections.

A good advise is to take lots of probiotics to cure oral yeast infections. Eating daily unsweetened yogurt may help further re-occurrence. There are also easily home remedies for yeast infections, like vinegar or honey which you can use to treat it.
