Oral Male Thrush Symptoms

Oral thrush is caused due to the bacterium called Candida Albicans. These bacteria cause yeast infections. It is more effective on people with a low immune system. Infections caused in the mouth are of two types, ie the oral thrush and angular cheilitis.

The difficulties and pain caused due to oral thrush may vary from minor issues to serious issues. The medicines and remedies prescribed depend on the severity of the issue. Some oral thrushes are stubborn and take a while to heal completely.

Sometimes oral thrush in men is caused due to reasons like drug abuse, diabetes, and chemotherapy, use of lubricants with glycerin during intercourse, or side effects due to antibiotics. People who use dentures are also affected due to ill fitting denture lesions in the mouth.

Apart from a weak immune system, people with HIV are also prone to Oral Thrush. It is not necessary for a person to experience all the symptoms but a few common male thrush symptoms are,

  • White patches on the tonsils, on the tongue, in the throat, on the palate, or inside the cheeks.
  • Oral discomfort.
  • Discomfort caused while eating and chewing.
  • Bleeding of the skin area.
  • White skin flakes.
  • A lip rash from the inner side.
  • Low-grade fever.
  • Lip rash at the corners of the mouth.
  • White skin plaques.

If unattended, the thrush tends to grow causing complications. Symptoms of excess thrush are as follows,

  • Throat Irritation.
  • Lack of proper nutrition
  • gastrointestinal problems
  • spread of thrush to other areas
  • Thrush of genital areas

The male thrush symptoms of angular cheilitis are mouth sores and chapped lips. Bacteria like Candida albicans can also affect the sores. Research has linked the cause of angular cheilitis to nutritional deficiency of iron and vitamin B. That people who do not have a balanced diet or are malnourished are likely to be affected.

Male thrush symptoms are also seen in elders who suffer from over closure of mouth due to absence of teeth. Another type of angular cheilitis and a male thrush symptom occurs when cold sores are experienced at the corner of a person's mouth. Severe cases arise when the weather conditions are windy and cold, causing the lips to become chapped. Licking the lips is just a temporary relief which over a period of time causes more damage.

Even a small lesion should be brought to the notice of a doctor for proper medication. This is advised to avoid complication due to delay in treatment of the oral thrush. In case of a minor issue, at times the lesions go unnoticed. Delay in the treatment can cause a growth in the oral thrush forming bacteria, and it tends to spread to other parts of the body.

Apart from the regular antibiotics, male thrush symptoms can also be taken care of with the help of natural home remedies. Most people have been cured by these home remedies, while some cases do require antibiotics.
