You may already be aware of this, but inflammation occurs when we injure our body. It results in soreness, redness, pain and swelling of the affected area.
However, this is also true for the heart. But while this is an important defence mechanism, inflammation of the heart can have serious repercussions.
This is dependent upon where the heart inflammation occurs. The possible diseases are myocarditis, pericarditis and endocarditis.
Many people say that inflammation of the heart may be more of a risk factor than high cholesterol is to developing heart disease. Therefore it’s imperative that inflammation is reduced.
That’s why I’ve compiled a few tips about avoiding heart inflammation:
1. Knowing the right treatment
As I said, inflammation can affect different areas of the heart and have different consequences because of this. A doctor needs to look at your symptoms, check your medical history and perform laboratory tests.
2. Keep healthy and exercise
Doing things like regulating your intake of alcohol (which has been linked to strokes) and not smoking are advised. These are both generally harmful but also quite deadly in regard to specific conditions.
Exercising for 30 minutes a day can improve heart health.
3. Your diet
Your diet is important to reducing heart inflammation. If we have too many omega 6s in our diet and too few omega 3s then inflammation increases.
Therefore, you should be looking to increase the amount of omega 3 in your diet. The ideal way to do this is with fish, a food source which is naturally rich in omega 3.
However, many fish come from polluted waters and this can affect the fish on our dinner plate. So, in order to get the goodness of fish without the harmful chemicals, you can use a fish supplement.
These can undergo a process called molecular distillation which removes pollutants like mercury, lead and PCBs. Now that you know this you can take steps to reduce inflammation of the heart.
