The body needs various kinds of vitamins for it to work properly and carry out its functions. One of these vitamins is Vitamin B12, which is considered as the most complex of all vitamins. As with any vitamin, it is not naturally synthesized in the body. Animals are not able to synthesize it, either. It is needed for the building of myelin sheaths, protecting the nerves from damage. It is also needed for cognitive function and production of healthy red blood cells. As such, deficiency of it may cause permanent nerve damage, dementia, and anemia.
