First, let get to the fact of the source of back sprains. Simple strains are the most common cause of back pain, especially lower back pain. Muscle strain is often caused by overuse of a muscle or overloading a muscle. When a muscle is stressed beyond what it can handle, injury occurs.
To know if you are suffering from a back sprain or not. Just simply stop moving your body. If it still hurts, chances are it is worse than a back sprain.
The ice and heat remedy. Yes, it works. For all parts of the body, the heat and ice remedy is one of the most effective method to date. It involves applying heating and ice to the affected part continuos over a period of time.
When the sprain first occurs, ice the sprained body part.
How to do so?
1. You can either apply an ice pack on the affected area which is easily bought at any healthcare store.
2. Wrap a small towel around a few ice cube and apply to the affected area. Never apply the ice directly to the skin as they may stick to it causing more damage instead.
This helps to ease the pain of the affected area, and reduce any swelling or inflammation.
Then, use the heat treatment. Either dip a towel into warm water and apply to the skin, or apply palms such as Tiger Balm. They help to promote blood circulation therefore allowing the injury to heal faster. Avoid dipping into boiling water, you may get scaled instead.
Repeat this order a few times for 2 hour. You should be able to feel the difference of the pain stopping. If the pain is worsen, i suggest you to consult a doctor immediately as you may be suffering from a serious muscle tear. If not appreciated immediately, there will be consequences.
