You need to be honest with yourself and answer some questions truthfully.
How many of the following questions did you answer “yes” to? The less “no” answers you have, the better the chance that you are indeed suffering from bulimia or one of the other eating disorders.
Body – Size – Weight – Do you obsess over any of these? Do you constantly think about how you look and how others may see you? Are you always looking at yourself and trying to find ways to improve yourself or look better (body wise)?
Food – Eating – Do they dominate a good portion of your life? Is food one of the first things you think of when you wake up? When you are upset, do you eat? When you are stressed, do you eat?
Fear of Food – Do you ever think, “I’m scared I won’t be able to stop eating!” Do you have second thoughts about eating something because you fear you’ll have a hard time stopping?
Sick To Your Stomach – Do you eat until you are full or until you feel like you’re going to be sick? Do you know when to stop eating your meal or are you out of control?
Feelings of Shame – Guilt – Anxiety – Depression – How do you feel after you eat? Lots of energy and well being or dark feelings of “I shouldn’t have done that!” Do you feel in control when you eat or just feel worse?
Weight Control – HOW do you control it? Do you purge (vomit) or take a diuretic or laxatives? Do you exercise excessively to lose weight? Do you do any of these in a combination?
If you answer “yes” to two or more of these questions, it’s probably more than a possibility that you have bulimia or an eating disorder. Please check with your physician and see what kind of treatment he can help you with. Don’t wait, get help today!
