Bon Jovi Bio

One of American music industries biggest names is that of rock band Bon Jovi which was formed way back in 1983 by a group of young talented musicians from Sayreville, New Jersey. The band consists of lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora on lead guitars, David Bryan on keyboards, Hugh McDonald on bass guitar and Tico Torres on drums.

The earlier bass guitarist Alec John Such was replaced Hugh McDonald in 1991.

The credit for the formation of this legendary band goes to two members of the band one being Jon Bon Jovi and the other being David Bryan. The two first met in 1962 for the first time. They formed a cover band Atlantic City Expressway, this was a 12-piece band, and played in clubs around New Jersey.

After that Jon Jovi and David Bryan went their own ways and Jon started to work at Power Station Studios where he made several demos but none of the major record companies thought highly of it and ignored it. That is when Jon made a trip to the local radio station where the Radio Jockey heard the demos for the first time and fell in love with it. Jon’s song ‘Runaway’ played on radio and was an instant hit and the rest was history.

Soon after his song’s success Bon Jovi was contacted by his old pal and previous band mate David Bryan, in the meanwhile David had also gotten in touch with bass guitar player Alec John Such and drummer Tico Torres. Guitarist Dave Sabo was contacted for a role of lead guitarist in the band and he accepted it, which led to the formation of the band. However, a few years down the line Dave Sabo quit the band to form his own band named Skid Row and was replaced by Richie Sambora.

The band’s first album Runaway was an instant hit but their second album 7800° Fahrenheit didn’t do too well on the charts. However, their third album was the biggest hit the band ever saw, it sold over 12 million copies and was the top selling album on the Billboard for an entire year.

Right now the band is on its Circle Tour which started on 11th February, 2010 in Hawaii and will end on 30th July, 2010 in Chicago. One can buy Bon Jovi tickets online through a number of different Tix websites.
