Nail fungus is a challenge that many individuals face. Nail fungus is caused by living organisms which take root under the protective layer of the toenail. These organisms feed off the keratin which is produced by the skin and nail.
As it takes hold your nail becomes discolored and brittle. Then as it gets bigger it will start to push the nail upwards – if left untreated the nail will fall off. This whole process can be irritating and painful.
The first way for you to deal with fungus is to understand what it likes and what it does not like. Fungus likes moisture and if your feet are not clean and dry it will be celebrating under your toe nail and if you not careful may invite its friends over to join the party.
What fungus does not like is acidity. This will put an end to the party. Fungus does not thrive in acidic environments. One way to create such an environment is to take apple cider vinegar daily. In actual fact apple cider vinegar is good for you regardless of treating fungus so it is wise to add it to your daily routine.
Another effective way to deal with nail fungus is to use vicks vaporub. This is considered a home remedy since you do not need to take it under the supervision of a doctor and it requires no prescription. Apply it twice daily. Just like apple cider vinegar this process can take a while but it does work.
You can also use herbal solutions which contain ingredients such as tea tree oil and jojoba oil. This works great to deal with nail fungus but like anything else apply it daily however this may work faster than using vicks vaporub. And as usual always practice good hygiene.
